I find it amusing that when Kirk speaks about his young years to McCoy he’s like “I was absolutely grim, Bones”, but when he talks with Spock he’s like “I was brash”

obviously there were like three years between those periods of his youth, but I find it amusing nevertheless

#because when he was a lieutenant he was still someone who got described as 'stack of books with legs'#teaching classes where you either 'think or sink'#so not really someone who could be easily described as 'brash' imho #i honestly think that his 'brash' side came up later as he grew more confident and raised in ranks #so with spock it kinda feels (at least to me anyway) as him trying to keep up appearances #and also being a bit embarrassed about his young self describing the planet as a garden of eden #anyway i should go to bed lol #headcanon times #tos nonsense #(but also mccoy knew how serious young kirk was so it's probably easier for kirk to be like you don't even know)#i should create another tag that would be just for silly posts since tos nonsense also includes serious posts now...
