Haha, I love seeing this reaction because Suvi's take makes so much sense to me that I never saw this coming from the audience (and again, E & L weren't in the room so there were only 2 people to talk about it with.)
Resisting the Geas: why resist the spell when you could have just said 'no' to the plan in the first place? If Suvi doesn't touch the telemet or just hangs up the MirrorTime call, the conversation is over and she moves forward with assisting Ame at her conclave as planned. Would she "get into trouble" upon returning home? That remains to be seen. Suvi is a namecloaked Wizard of the Citadel, and she can decided what level of risk is appropriate for herself. They may not like it, but she neither defied an order nor abandoned a duty/course of action that she was committed to before leaving for the North Pole.
Asking Questions/Pushing Back: Once Suvi understands that the memory-wiping component is about plausible deniability in the face of invasive mental magic that the witches might subject her to, the idea of asking more clarifying questions (for her own comfort more than anything else) becomes an indulgent liability. What if they break through the Modify Memory? Will it have been worth risking the plan for the momentary comfort of understanding the full scope of the mission? It's also important to consider that the conditions of that level of interrogation would assume that Suvi is as good as dead anyway, so why put more intel into the hands of her captors? Suvi's thought is that upon agreeing, there is trust that she'll be given exactly as much information as she needs to get the job done. So the impulse to push back or ask for more clarity has nothing to do with efficacy and everything to do with her own desire for understanding and trust in her mind and feelings. And that isn't useful right now.
I'm not actually shocked Suvi just submitted to the geas but also man I can't believe she didn't resist she doesn't even ask Steele any questions......
#i see people putting a lot of extra weird shit onto this interaction between steel and sky#steel: hope you're enjoying the airship. would you like to add a little fuck-you subterfuge to your trip?#sky: ah yes - a chance to sucker punch the witches that both hate wizards and are actively trying to kill my friend? sign me the fuck up#like 'oh no that's so dangerous to suvi' BRO SHE AGREED TO GO TO THE LETS-MURDER-AME-CONCLAVE if they don't win suvi's dead anyway#y'all need to stop forgetting that suvi constantly risks her life for the things she loves#you love it when that means she goes awol from her life in the citadel for weeks to help ame break her curse#or gets almost choked to death by undre in port talon#but that also means a risky quest that benefits the citadel while at conclave because she loves her home too#and she owes those other witches NOTHING#and if you think 'oh she's a bad friend because this might make ame look bad in front of her coven'#be so fucking for real#ame blew up part of suvi's home without a second thought just 3 days ago#A & E's quest fever has always carried at minimum a social cost for suvi#so yeah it's suvi's turn now
