steddie snow white au in a somewhat mirror, mirror shaped way.

of course steve is snow white bc duh... fairest in the land... and the party would be the dwarves. evil stepmom trying to kill him, so maybe it could be his own mom. a lot of fics portray her as rather vapid and narcissistic, so idk...

maybe the royal couple was beloved by the people, keeping up appearances and portraying the perfect family. behind the scenes, the king was less than kind with his words and fists. his cruelty was mainly aimed towards his wife. after all, steve was to be his successor, his legacy.

this COULD be omegaverse, steve's dad is disappointed bc he's an omega. or it could just be normal where steve starts to inherit his mother's looks and his dad resents that bc steve was supposed to be king, not some absent minded pretty face.

steve's mom could be good and dead, or bad and alive (does this even make sense...), but either way the king's spouse poisons him. and maybe this was who she really was after all, or maybe the king's treatment twisted her heart. but the king is gone and steve isn't hurt, just. alone.

his only friend is a servant girl named robin. bc of the mirror's prophecy, the queen has been keeping steve isolated. she only lets him talk to robin bc she thinks robin is a bird. just casually thinking steve must be hallucinating or a compulsive liar. so unrealistic but does she even care that much about a single girl.

following the plot, steve turns eighteen and is officially the fairest in all of the land. the queen tries to kill him, he runs away and finds a little cottage in the woods. it's the party and they're having a sleepover and steve is quickly adopted by them.

during his time with the party, steve bumps into prince eddie munson. they gradually fall in love and it feels like something good is happening.

and then steve accepts a poison apple from an old woman. and he falls asleep. the party runs for eddie, yelling something about true love's kiss. and as eddie is about to lean in, he's pushed out of the way.

servant girl robin buckley has been searching for the prince for DAYS. she's immediately in tears, touching steve's face and trying to feel for any sign of life. she presses soft kisses across his cheeks, praying for a miracle. and he wakes up lol
