she did cross my mind while designing planet yonder, unsurprisingly, because what pops up in my mind when i think of wander finding the mushroom is like... in a cave on a barren planet, bald and grey and shredded by Big Catastrophic Event, which feels very janet because she was a bald grey planet with One Colorful Flower. i don't think the planet is janet, though, just because idk about all those Giant holes from mushroom-terraforming the interior. that feels mean to do to a living planet

which is NOT to say asian tim hcs are inherently bad or anything tho, i have to slap this disclaimer here bc i AM an asian tim enjoyer. (my fav hc is actually quarter chinese tim whose mom was half but never taught him much of anything abt what of her culture she learned from her chinese parent bc she wanted him to assimilate better than she was able to. adds flavor to his relationship with janet and also to his need to be jack's classic all-american son. and also fodder to tim's general self-invalidation and identity issues. love to give this guy identity issues <3)

but yeah no the way fandom often interacts with a lot of race headcanons is to just slap some surface-level racial stereotypes down and be like "yaaay i got the diversity brownie points!" which can be exhausting to say the least. it's nice to see it acknowledged and talked about though!!

what characters do your favourite characters hate but you actually like (and/or that they really like but you don't)?

HMMMMMMMMMMMMM its hard to say bc it's hard to say characters that actually really hate someone? i guess i would say i like reed a lot more than hank pym does but even then i wouldn't say it's hate, just more Hank finds him annoying n enjoys being a bit catty to him / making fun of him a little, while reed generally respects hank but his paranoia can get in the way of having a proper friendship. but there's not hate, i wouldn't say.

again, not quite hate, but i definitely don't think i share beast's views abt scott lmao 😭 i mean tbh most stuff in that era i find kind of weird for both of them? it's just not a direction / scale i really care abt but definitely like.... going to a school isn't going to help an entire population hank 😭 but again, not hate, moreso hank has a lot of internalised feelings he's never worked out about charles and I think it was very easy to have his already kind of agitated, centrist politics turned even more against scott who was more extreme. Hank is to me probably the most ? manipulated of the o5 who has yet to break away from xavier's influence in a way scott has been able to. but it's not hate, even if at the time I'm sure Hank would find it easy to say he hates Scott.

now, vise versa.... again it's hard to say! there's not an awful lot of characters i really hate!! theres tony stark and maybe wolverine and i find loki a bit annoying but that's really it! janet obviously likes tony; she's dated him twice but like... it makes sense. she's not renowned for her great taste in men? so it's not something i think abt a lot 😭

the only one i can think of is the Simon/carol relationship bc I'm not a big carol danvers fan and even then they haven't really talked in 10+ years so it's not a recent thing ,and tbh their relationship always felt very forced. don't have the panel n can't be fucked searching for a moment but there's a beat in ms marvel v2 where he calls carol and he's SO awkward and weird about it ? He's like "so I thought I would call the most beautiful woman in the world" but that's so not the voice he had for this entire run and neither carol nor he when they cut to him seem... into it. so like... they dated but it never felt genuine. i guess.

2. Moira Rose from Schitt’s Creek. I wanna be HER when I grow up 🤩 (I’m kidding) I love her hyperbolic speech (it reminds me of how I text) and her tendency to wordlessly scREAM her feelings no shame no consequences. Her confidence is one of the best parts of the show ansbdjsnns 🌹

Sherlock Holmes! 🔍💙🔎 gonna cheat and sandwich 3 separate versions of the same dude into one bullet point because they’re all endearing jokers whom I love for basically all the same reasons. The Fate Grand Order, original (Arthur Conan Doyle) and Granada editions of Sherlock Holmes are my all time favorites I’ve seen so far. Grand Order took him by the collar from 221B and quietly placed him in a universe where All Myth Is Real and was like “what if the mystery this time is to find out who ended all of humanity?” LOVE that for him. ACD canon is just cozy and fun and the fact that Doyle grew sick of Holmes just makes the books even better to me 🤭 And Brett’s passion for Holmes and accuracy are obvious while watching Granada. And it definitely doesn’t hurt that FGO seems to have taken inspiration from the show for their own Holmes.

Orual from Till We Have Faces. priorities! She has them. Star of one of my all time favorite Greek myth retellings ever. I’ll admit I don’t remember the book perfectly well but I understood her anger so well back when I was reading the book and I remember rooting for her the whole time.

5. Albert Honig the mc of Telling the Bees by Peggy Hesketh. I have a fondness for kindly old men narrators and bees. And murder mysteries. Guess what this book has? 🐝🍯🔪

Massively unfair. I wouldn’t change it though bc it hurts so good and had appropriate levels of nuance and complexity and whatnot. The mysteries surrounding her were worth waiting till Oathbringer (Bk #3) for. I do seriously wish jokes weren’t the thing that made up 90% of her tag though :/ maybe I’ll take pains to fix that myself one day. Perhaps. 🤕

10. Eton the Mad Prince 👑 and would be canonical older brother of Raoden had Brandon Sanderson not scrapped him from Elantris altogether. I get why he did but the deleted scenes on his website....hysterical. He would have easily made it into my top 5 favorite cosmere characters of all time if he’d made it into a published work. I love (fictional) monarchs of dubious (in)sanity and the best part is how in the deleted scenes I linked there’s no one we see him messing with more than Hrathen who, being canon, really /is/ in my top 5 favorite cosmere characters of all time. Those deleted scenes are probably safe to read if you’ve never read Elantris and intend to btw, proceed with caution.

I think part of what annoys me abt Tonyjan is that it's literally only something people like BC of their fanon interpretations. "It's abt two abuse victims healing through each other" no you made that up. "It's two hot funny avengers being hot and funny together" it's so boring. They have no dumb relationship things of note like you have for alternate ships for both of them. It's at the end of the day a ship mostly written by Dan Slott and it's accordingly boring because of it. I literally don't get it. there's funnier & more interesting relationships for both of them i don't get it. at all.

exactly like even after that awful trial of yellowjacket storyline, I'm pretty sure being chairperson helped janet a lot more than dating a guy who was literally lying to her about his identity and was also a rebound.

And in slott's run janet was pretty much only there to support tony emotionally & say nice things to him (I'm pretty sure slott has a thing for her) & I don't think she got anything in return from him except maybe during the pymtron storyline where everyone was written out of character. But overall I thought she was written to be his cheerleader who bragged a lot for some reason.

Slott had tony call janet "every good thing worth fighting for in the world" or something & people just like things like that a lot I suppose because that's pretty much all anyone talks about when it comes to them. I personally thought it came out of nowhere.

Also I don't think anyone knows tony's an abuse survivor - not even rhodey. It's just not something he talks about ever or he downplays it & he definitely didn't talk to janet about it.

It's definitely about them being avengers & friends & hot & rich. Also in slott's run they had no flaws & it made the relationship so boring imo. I get why people would think it's cute but the version of it people think exists definitely does not. I don't get why people feel so much anger when someone says they don't like the ship like it's really not that deep.

Also I think people should look into other female abuse survivors because every time marvel brings that incident up it seems to be more about janet being a girlboss than anything else. Giving dan slott credit for something he didn't do is insane.

my all-time ultimate fave character: it used to be kenny but tbh i LOOOVE BUTTERS so much. hes just so funny and pure and sad and a great standout for the show.

a character I didn’t used to like but now do: kyle has rlly grown on me tbh. a lot of  them have! even fucking terrence and philip have.

a character I used to like but now don’t: most characters i started out not caring abt and now i like them more so this is hard to say.

a character I’m indifferent about: stan. also clyde, idk why hes so popular

a character who deserved better: heidi

a ship I’ve never been able to get into: a lot of bg character crack ships like craig/kenny or token/clyde

an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: im surprised kenny/damien isnt more of a thing? i havent seen damiens episode yet actually but the concept of kenny going to hell and hanging w damien and satan is funny to me

a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: heidi/cartman bc duh, but the way they portrayed the ship going south in season 21 from what ive seen is perfectly heartbreaking. i just wish they didnt try to sell it as cute to begin with. in terms of fandom..........kyle/cartman bc thats just sick, dudes

my favourite storyline/moment: the scene when craig actually helps tweek with his anxiety in ‘put it down’ makes me so goddamn happy. its almost unusually compassionate for a show like this.

a storyline that never should have been written: janet garrison as a concept was terrible and the show has to work damn hard to undo their transphobia there. i havent seen the episodes specifically about her i admit but the way they portrayed transitioning and sex change surgery is stupid. i know it was 2005 but jesus.

my first thoughts on the show: wow this could be really good if cartman werent here
