All you had wanted for your birthday was a nice night together with your boyfriend, and Joshua was going to ensure you got it.

Most days, Joshua doted on you, and today had been no different. From the second opinion he gave when you asked for it (which pair of heels to wear tonight, did your eyeliner look alright...), to the way he slowly zipped you into your dress before planting a chaste kiss against your neck, and the way his hand found yours on the trip to and from the restaurant. The first time had been his way of holding onto you, just to keep himself tethered to you with a subtle smile and a question about how the rest of your day had gone. The second was to keep himself close to you while he nearly stumbled over himself at times, the alcohol in his system making his steps a little less certain than before--but with your hand in his, he could at least make sure that you didn’t trip up anywhere.

Which brought him to now. He was lying in bed, having changed out of his nicer clothes, and waiting for the very-exhausted you to make your way from the bathroom back into your shared bedroom. Even if his teasing kisses down your neck had been met with a “not tonight, Joshy, I’m sleepy,” he was still excited to see your pretty face when all was said and done. His face was illuminated by his phone as he scrolled through social media, a pillow in his arms as he waited for you to come and take its place.

“Shua,” you had dragged out his name as you stumbled back into the room. How much did the two of you drink again? Joshua wasn’t sure, but he was already clicking his phone off. “Move over.”

“This is my side,” he teased.

A groan. “So mean.... And on my birthday, too...” But he watched you make your way to his side anyway, and he slid over to give you room to nearly face-plant into the mattress.

From there, he could see how your face was still slightly wet from going through your cleansing routine. He could smell the moisturizer you used, too--fruity, because you always preferred those scents. He reached out, tugging at you slightly as he shoved the pillow back into its proper place.

“Pillow’s gone,” he said. “I’m here.”

Without answering, you moved, crawling into his arms and settling there. He held you against his chest, moving to press a tiny kiss against your neck.

“Josh--” You mumbled, only to burst into quiet giggles as he continued to press quick peck after peck against your skin, “that tickles.”

“I love you,” he said, smiling softly. He could feel himself already starting to drift off, and he stifled a yawn before planting another sleepy kiss against your neck. “Thank you for looking after me,” he squeezed around your stomach a little. “And for loving me.”

Your head dipped back, bumping against him. “You’re sappy tonight, huh...”

He chuckled against your neck, hot breath fanning your skin. “I mean it. Thank you,” another gentle squeeze, “for being a part of my life. And for saying yes when I asked you to be my girlfriend...” He paused, stifling another yawn. “Even though Jeonghan asked you out five minutes earlier to make me jealous...”

“I don’t like Jeonghan like that, silly.” With a few taps against his arms, he let you go. You turned over to face him, one hand reaching up to hold his face. “Josh. I think you drank too much, honey.”

Again, he just laughed softly. “I mean it!” He leaned in, planting one final kiss against your lips. “I love you.”

“I love you, too, you sap.” You snuggled in closer, legs intertwining with his.

With one hand curled around your back, he’d begun to trace hearts with his fingers. “Thank you for being born,” he said softly. “I think... I think we’re soulmates.”

“Joshua...” You squeezed him gently. “Go to sleep, honey.”

“I mean it,” he said again, softer this time. “Happy birthday.” He nuzzled his head closer to your own, eyes fluttering shut. “Thank you for finding me.”

first off i think he’d do very little in everyday life but go all out for nights out and parties and holidays. he’s a blueprint cool winter so he doesn’t do much bronzing bc it always just looks orange on his skin, every once in a while he’ll do a cool-toned contour but he really doesn’t even need it, those cheekbones speak for themselves.

but like bottom line is cool-toned skin like his just begs for silver jewelry and shimmery pearl highlight and pink blush and plum lipstick.

he’s always starting with two layers of sunscreen bc that skin is paper pale & he’s not trying to get sun damage. but for a more casual moment he’s just doing a bit of concealer under the eyes so he doesn’t look like a walking corpse, maybe a bit of blush on his cheeks & nose if he’s particularly pale that day. just a very subtle brush of highlight at the high points of his cheeks & the tip of his nose, the inner corners of his eyes if he’s feeling fancy. just enough to make him look more awake and give his skin a good glow. throw on some tinted lip balm and he’s good to go, perfect gorgeous stunning. maybe he’s born with it maybe it’s maybelline ((it’s elf & rare beauty))

but on nights out he’s doing a little more. first up is the elf liquid eyeshadow in the shade disco queen, it’s especially shimmery if you do two or three layers and goes a little blue under the right light. he’s doing that as highlight at the very tops of his cheeks too, like that skin is glowing even when the room is dark. he’s doing his regular rare beauty liquid blush in the shade encourage, but a little more than normal, a bit of the fenty contour stick in soft amber to make it all the more dramatic. but the real kicker is the smudgy black liner, he’s laying it on thick and smudging it out and up with a brush, then brushing the excess onto the lower lash line. real haphazard real messy. it makes his eyes look fucking insane in combo w the cool-toned glitter, like it’s almost creepy, they look like contacts. then to top it off he’s doing some cheap non-waterproof mascara bc his lashes are already thick & black and he doesn’t really need it ((but it smudges easy & runs so pretty when he cries &……,u just never know what’s going to happen in the bathroom of a dingy club……when remus is across the room watching him dance in a crop top & fishnets.,……so like…..best be prepared & throw the cheap mascara on just in case……rly it’s just being responsible….& he’s sooooo responsible………,))

throw on either a soft pink or mauve lipstick and a little gloss over it and it’s go-time babyyyyyy

sailor elise wilson was born bright and early on the morning of september 6, 1997! she was, my all accounts, unplanned and unexpected. it was never anything her parents would admit aloud — heaven forbid they did something to shatter the image of perfection they clung to — but sailor always knew.

growing up, there was always a voice in the back of sailor’s head that reminded her she didn’t belong. her father owned his own real estate company that dominated the market of provincetown, and really the entirety of cape cod. her mother was the epitome of a perfect trophy wife. her older sister, sawyer, was everything that her parents ever wanted. sailor wasn’t so lucky.

as a young girl, sailor and her sister were like night and day. where sawyer was pretty and polite and perfect, sailor was messy and wild and completely uncontrollable — which her parents absolutely hated. they tried to control her, tried to make her into the daughter that they wanted through debutante gowns and disappointed frowns asking her “why can’t you be more like sawyer?”

it was a lot for sailor to constantly live in the shadow of her sister. it was a view that extended past the eyes of her parents. sailor was brought into the snack pack partially ( read: mostly ) by her sister, and in provincetown it was hard for sailor to stumble upon someone who didn’t see her as “sawyer’s little sister.” not that she could blame them. she thought herself to be a pretty average person all around, not particularly good at anything ( besides, of course, not being good enough ) and she was so accustomed to always being second-best to sawyer that it hardly phased her

when it was finally time for her to head off to college, sailor decided to attend university of massachusetts amherst — two and a half hours away from home, where nobody knew who she was and she could finally have a fresh start as her own person. unfortunately, things didn’t go exactly according to plan.

only a few months into her freshman year, sailor met a boy who would soon become her first serious boyfriend. at first, he embodied everything that she could have ever asked for in a significant other. he was charming, witty, exciting, and so much cooler than she ever had been. however, as their relationship progressed, he quickly became more controlling over her. it began with him wanting to always know where she was going, what she was doing, and who she was with and progressed to the point where there were no boundaries at all. then he began to get angry, at first over little things and then over nothing at all. but he always apologized, always pulled her back in with sweet words and promises that it would never happen again. even after things started to become violent, she found herself being roped back into him and unable to escape.

it took over two years for sailor to finally get out of the relationship, and even though it’s been months since things ended, she still isn’t quite the same. it’s not a story she’s told many people, and not one she enjoys recounting or revisiting, but the change in her is apparent. all the soft edges and gentle nature that sailor had once possessed are gone now, replaced with a girl that’s harder, stronger, more enduring. she’s on track to become a lawyer, putting the life lessons she’s gained to good use. she isn’t the same person who was once content to live in her sister’s shadow and trust whoever came her way, she no longer welcomes people in with open arms, but she’s learned just how cruel the world can be.
