Doreen! Firstly, hope u r doing well 😊💖 Secondly, whats ur thoughts on the LBC2 producers/writers deciding 2 completely ignore the fact TinCan even met in S1 & having them start from scratch again?! 😫 Apparently they announced it but I'm sure I would of rememberd sumthin that important. The trlr didnt hint at it either 🤷‍♀️ The fact that int-fans (who watched illegally on yt ) r more pissed about storyline being changed than having 2 wait an extra week 2 watch on Viki is hilarious tho 😅😂
-> The whole concept of restarting TinCan when everything else moved linearly is ridiculous to me. How do the people in charge of these shows come up with this nonsense? Just tell the story better if people were upset with the end of season 1. Isn't that why season 2 exists?!?!??!?! Sorry. LBC2 is just stretching the bounds of believability for me.
-> LBC2 is confusing me a bit. I get why Saint isn't there cos of all the drama but they had so much time to come up with a good story regardless and I feel so... let down? I don't think I'll keep going after ep 1 but I'm glad so many people are happy it's back.
-> This tincan reboot thingy... Either they didn't even feel like trying to salvage the storyline (more dramatic but still doable) or they're trying to induce a mass amnesia, both of which make me go mehhh. Still, I'll give it a go because I'm curious how they'll manage this mess. So far, the continuations (s2g, lbc2) seem a bit underwhelming to me (sadly). Let's just hope my engineer and tharntype don't disappoint.
--------------------------
hellooo there all!!! 💕😙 I’m doing well, thank you, @randomfrigginwords!!! 🥺
okay SO I finally found the time to watch the full 1st ep and I have.. some thoughts lmao. I collected a few reactions so it doesn’t get too repetitive 🙈Also I’m trying to word this as well as I can and this is just my personal opinion so don’t come for me please.
So I went into the ep the first time right after it came out, not knowing anything about the story or the timeline etc. and I just kind skipped through it bc I was curious and wanted to see what was going on lol. But just from the snippets I saw I got a little confused bc??? what up lol.
After I read some first reactions by ppl who were pissed af about the timeline rearrangement etc. I was initially very disappointed bc I had waited so long for this and now it seems like they messed everything up??... So when I actually watched the episode for the first time just now I was obviously biased, thinking it was gonna be horrible. But in reality.....it wasn’t?? lol.
Like,,,, tbh it was super weird seeing all of it again and getting back into the characters & stories after more than 2(!!!) years; but after I rewatched LBC1 a few days ago, I realized that regardless of the timeline etc., everything is just completely different?? And not just because of the TinCan situation but just like,,, the whole thing in general. Idk if I’ll be able to articulate this well enough but I tend to judge a lot of things based on the vibes I’m getting and the vibes this season compared to the last one were... something else lol; the characters all have changed a lot, especially Ae like hell I barely recognized him. They all seem much more mature which I’m guessing probably wasn’t intended. But!!! I like it!!! :)
Though with the different vibe I was getting during this ep, I honestly couldn't imagine a sequel as in “picking up where we left off”, set just a few weeks/months after ss1. That would’ve seemed even more off than it does now. At least to me. Maybe I’m the only one. idk.
So the fact that the TinCan story is being retold from scratch basically makes it a reboot of ss1, just with a slightly different setting and more mature characters AND we get to see their story unfold again; maybe even into a different direction. Which?? I like?? a lot?? 🙈 like yes, it was a little confusing at first but after accepting the new concept for what it is, I really enjoyed it.
So yeah sorry if i’m rambling but I’m just thinking out loud. I understand where the critical voices are coming from though; We were all anticipating a sequel to ss1, but looking at it as a reboot/new edition-kinda situation, rather than a messed up continuation makes it better imo. So yeah. I guess it’s an unpopular opinion but. I like it ;) Let’s see how the season continues!
Sorry this got so long...

Salam, I was wondering if /when you have any free time, would you mind sharing how you feel about drrr's Raira trio, Mikado, Anri and Masaomi.
Salam andthank you for the ask AND sorry for taking too much time to answer this :”) Iknow you’ve said that I don’t have to answer this but I still want to anyway,Durarara season 1 is one of my favorite anime and I really am excited to have achat about it.
I won’t sayDurarara has such an exceptional story–because it didn’t, what made it specialis the characters. Not that I say the story is boring tho! I can’t think asingle character in drrr that didn;t piqued my interest even if it’s only for asec (except for minor character they don’t count). So of course I’m reallyinterested in the main trio, Mikado, Anri, and Masaomi.
But pleasekeep in mind that I only have watched the first season of the anime and thefirst group of episodes of the second seasons (according to wikipedia it’snamed “Sho”), YEARS ago. I haven’t had the time to watch the second season andread the novel, so I’m sorry for anything that I’ll wrote here.
For instantanswer: seeing them as characters, I’m REALLY interested in them, and seeingthem as people I kinda have mixed feelings about them. Out of the three, I like Masaomi the most as character, I’minterested in Mikado the most, and I like Anri the most as a person.
For veeeeeeerylong answer under the cut (seriously though, it’s really long. I’m sorry)
I’minterested in how the author want to make them grow, how their development willgo, and what choice would they pick and how it’d influence the story ingeneral.
I agree withhow you describe Mikado “he loves excitement and danger but he’s alsovery shy and unsociable” not to mention that he’s selfish and doesn’t payattention for others. While as characters these description mayentertain me throughout the series, I don’t think I’ll like this type of person.
Mikado wasintroduced as a shy, awkward, middle school kid who lived in country-side andhad never gone outside of his town. He was an okay kid for me. Then we knewthat he was the one who created Dollars–that’s nice. I started to put him in“interesting character list” after the episode where he gather Dollar’s membersto confront Namie. I still didn’t really understand his tactics but okay.
One thingthat I remember when I rewatched the first season some months ago is that hehad a pretty messep up morals. I don’t really remember why, though, but I doremember that I thought of that when I watched the Durarara!!x2 Sho.
(Again I’msorry if I’m wrong I haven’t watched the second season since 2015) So he’slike. Dollars are his group, he doesn’t like that some members are getting outof his control, he wants to make some rules but the members don’t like it sinceDollars are “rules-free”, then he decided to join Blue Square–basically agroup of thugs???– to mergeDollars and Blue Square. Don’t you think it’s kinda messed up? What makes mefeel more irritated is that he knows that Blue Square and Yellow Scarvesare in BAD terms, and he knows that his best friend, which he says thathe’ll wait for him to come back, is affiliated with Yellow Scarves. Okay I knowhe likes excitement and everything that pumped his adrenaline but really?? Hebasically just declare war to his bestestest friend. How is that not messed up?I only watched Sho 4 years ago because I really couldn’t bear Mikado likethis–I thought he changed so much and I wasn’t a fan of it. I didn’t rewatchS1 before I watched Sho so that’s why Mikado’s actions shocked me so much.
After myrewatched a few months ago I realized that he wasn’tchanging in s2, it’s his personality all along.
Tl;dr: Mikado is aselfish, ignorant person, though he’s polite and kinda honest. (Aside fromIzaya) He’s thereason why I want to rewatch season 2, so I couldn’t say that I dislikehim, as characters.
Both Anriand Masaomi had potential to be as interesting as Mikado–well yeah I’malready interested in these two!–but honestly I don’t remember much whathappened to them in second season as much as I remember what happened toMikado. So that’s saying something. I probably won’t talk aboutthem as much as I talked about Mikado.
Anri hadterrible past–yeah what’s new in Anime. What makes her interesting is shelearned to not feel love, but it’s not because “oh i’ve experienced so muchhurt i don’t think i’ll love anymore” quite the opposite, she actually wantedto feel love. She constantly imagining a happy family who loved her and who sheloved whole-heartedly. I think that’s interestingenough, but whatmakes me interested in her is that she, as a mother of “slasher” didn’t doanything when her “child” tried to slice her. Why?Because she had morals and she didn’t want to “manipulate” Haruna Niekawa tomake her “child” stopped.
Excuse me but what?
I mean, Ikebukuro was a mess at that time because of the “child” thatNiekawa slashed, Anri had every opportunity to stop them but she didn’t thinkit was morally right because she “manipulated” Niekawa to do it.
She’s interesting as character, but as person, well, she’s nice andshe kinda distanced herself. I’m not really have problem with the type ofperson like her, she she’s an okay as a person.
Out of the three, I think I like Masaomi the most. He makes mistakes in thepast and he learned from it, I know this is an overly overused trope but I likethis trope! Plus his past was taunting him—he was seen talking to some YellowScarves’ members who asked him to be YS’s leader again—although eventually herejoined YS, it was because he thought his friends—Mikado and Anri—were indanger because of Dollars and The Slasher, it was for selfless reason. Hispersonality is actually the opposite of Mikado, tbh. Masaomi was introduced asa cheerful, friendly, and (most importantly) selfless and cares for hisfriends. Not that I say Mikado doesn’t care for his friends, but to Mikado ‘carefor his friends’ doesn’t get as high as ‘getting what I want’ in his prioritylist.
IN SHORT, WHAT I WANT TO SAY is that while Mikado joined Blue Square for(kinda?) selfish reason, Masaomi rejoined Yellow Scarves for selfless reason. He even cursed himself when he chose the option to become YS’ leader again.
Masaomi also have a great character development.
As I’ve said above: In short, out of the three, I like Masaomi the most ascharacter, I’m interested in Mikado the most, and I like Anri the most as aperson.
I’m sorry for any mistakes I made and again thanks for the ask!
