4 and 9!!!
// 4. tell me about your most vivid memory, good or bad. //
this question made me realise how jumbled my memories are, and how I dont really have very many vivid memories at ALL
any i do have are very recent, past few dayz, and there are probably some genuine onez but i cannot think of any
even stuff that is super embarrassing, or i was super happy at [ like the first concert i went to this year !! ] or sadder more personal stuff which i wont get into, i cant imagine very vividly? i have a very good memory for factz and dates, like peoples likes or birthdayz etc, but i cant really remember specific momentz well at all...
// 9. do you cry? why or why not? //
i cry all the time, like, at least once a week, and then ill often go through phases of crying every day
the reasons will vary, but a lot of the time it will either be stress/overthinking OR more often, me crying over media
i neverr cry in public tho, i can stop myself but as soon as im at home i cant escape BWJABWJANSNSJWNSJSNSNS
but yeah i cry at everything, most movies, shows, comics etc i will probably cry a little bit xD
i dont mind crying at all, i think it is good but SOMETIMES its so annoying.
thank you for the ask robbie !! <3 I WENT ON A BIT OF A RAMBLE IM VERY SORRRRYYYYY WAAA
read under the break for a few memories i do have reasonably strongly :)
some things i do remember well are things with my older siblings.
i have this one memory of me walking to school and telling my elder sister how i really looked up to her and how going to her university made me really inspired.
i remember one with my older sibling where they were playing skyward sword and they were stuck and i helped them by noticing something on the map
and i remember one with my eldest brother who made me and my little sibling fish finger sandwiches for lunch when our parents were out and let us watch my little pony films all day

I read Wild Magic really fast and here are all my thoughts on THAT:
the only thing this book is missing for which there is NO excuse is Raoul. 5/5 stars. needs more Raoul. that is my entire review
I had forgotten how deeply I love these books and these characters, including and perhaps especially Numair? and by “these books”, to be clear, I mean Wild Magic, Wolf Speaker, and Emperor Mage, you know, the Immortals trilogy
Ok that’s my whole review I’m actually done now
just kidding
Honestly make Daine like 5 years older so she’s 17-18 at the beginning and 20-21 at the end and like... it’s fine. I wouldn’t mind. It’s still not great but it’s okay. That’s my take, that in fact if/when Immortals gets adapted I will be fine with Daine/Numair as long as she is a young adult at the beginning when they meet instead of a literal 13-year-old. Just do what g*me of thr*nes did with Daenerys in the beginning! it’s fine!
haha daine and daenerys. dainerys. haha
mother of dragons haha wait a minute -
HOLD ON JUST ONE SECOND HERE
these books predate a s*ng of *ce and f*re I’m just saying
I forgot Onua was like at least in her 40s (based on she’s been working with horses for 28 years) and like she’s a cool early-middle-aged lady with a no-nonsense attitude who wanders the wilderness with her dog? oh boy is 23-year-old lesbian me into THAT, conceptually, in a way kid me was not so much yet
of course everyone is gay but YOU KNOW WHO’S GAY? MIRI. THIS IS MIRI’S INTRODUCTORY PARAGRAPH:
“She had dark hair cut boyishly short and a pair of dancing green eyes. With a tip-tilted nose, a cleft chin, and a dusting of freckles, she looked like pure mischief.”
GAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know things were not exactly the same in the 1990s as they are now but this is just every single late millennial/gen z queer I have ever met in my entire life
anyway
Just generally it is very cool how many more women are in this book, because as much as I love Jon (usually) and Raoul and George and Myles and Thom and Coram and and and, up until Thayet and Buri showed up in Lioness Rampant there were like... not a lot of women who were around very much in SotL and it’s just very nice that in this book the cast is much closer to even
“Let’s only name our plot-relevant children after our dead relatives whom readers will remember from the last book,” the friends all agreed collectively
Can you imagine Maude’s face when Alanna was presumably like “Maude, I have a favor to ask of you. I’ve just had a son, and I hope you’ll come help me take care of him as you raised my brother and me. I’ve named him after Thom and he has the Gift” Maude: oh gods FUCKING help us all
anyway I love Roald, Kally, and Thom so much and I wish there was more of all of them in the books but especially Kally? like we do get plenty of Roald development in Protector and there’s a little of grownup Thom in Trickster but Kally agrees to not go for her shield and be a princess and a healer instead and then goes to Carthak to marry Kaddar when she grows up and where is that quartet, dammit
Speaking of Thoms, I assume Alanna meeting Arram went something like this:
Arram: hello
Alanna: oh fuck. ok everyone out of the way, let me handle this, I’m the expert on dealing with vain and overconfident magical prodigies around here as I have trained literally since the moment of my birth and you guys sure royally fucked it up when I was gone last time so I’m adopting this overgrown puppy of a mage. he is mine now. I will not be hearing objections good day
Arram: ... okay cool!
I have so many questions about the timeline of Numair’s backstory that make me think I need to reread Tempests & Slaughter before I go any further because if he’s 25 in this book (for some reason I always thought he was 14 years older than Daine, not 12, turns out I was wrong about that) and he’s been in Tortall doing his thing for 5 years that means everything with Ozorne and the multiple years of being homeless and on the run (as well as becoming a Black Robe!) all happened before he was 20, and I do not remember how old he was at the end of Tempests & Slaughter and the wiki is deeply unhelpful on that cause apparently no one has updated it since that book was published???? I guess I could fix that but my first day of my second semester of law school is tomorrow so I’m not going to
I want Cate Blanchett to voice the mom dragon and that is my one (1) strong opinion on tv show casting that I have developed from rereading these books so far
I also think whoever plays Roger should voice the kraken, just to make viewers go “wait... no. wait. what? no. what?”, because it would be fun
Actually the 10-year time skip makes me really question how they’d even include Song of the Lioness in a tv show (since Immortals + Protector pretty much run straight through), except that a) it’s kind of necessary to get that backstory in order for people watching to have the degree of attachment to all the adult characters in this book that readers do, and b) I guess the Numair books should fill in the gap basically right? but also because the Lioness and Protector books are so inconsistently paced (4:4:1:1 years for SotL, 1:3:4:1 years roughly for PotS) I don’t know how they’d pace out seasons and obviously if they tried to adapt it all and keep about 1 season for every 2 years or so they’d end up with like. 20 seasons total which, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
anyway I really really love Numair and I’m very angry about how thoroughly that love is going to get destroyed a few books from now

“—then Abigail just tripped over her little shoes and went tumbling down the hill!” Lily exclaimed, clutching at her chest. “Thankfully it was just a tiny little hill and she’s tough as nails what with her older brother picking on her all the time but I was so worried!”
The rest of my high school friends all murmured agreements around the table.
They’d been talking about nothing but their kids for nearly an hour.
And I understood that, don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t helping me feel better about being trapped in the future. I felt guilty that I hadn’t been there for all of this. That I had less life experience than they did. I knew that they didn’t hold it against me—it wasn’t my fault—but part of me wished I’d refused Damian’s offer to bring me to the future to say goodbye to Dick, Jason, Tim, and Bruce so that I’d (hopefully) still be there for my friends.
I was relieved, though, that they were talking about their kids because it meant they weren’t asking me questions about what happened to me. Questions I’d have to lie about.
So I listened. And I laughed. And I listened more. I got to know their kids through their words.
The thing about my friends from high school was we had all been loyal to each other no matter what. I didn’t feel a single condescending vibe from any of them that I was still practically a child to them after they all grew up and had kids and got married. The one that got her doctorate, Sasha, was out-of-state working so she couldn’t make it to lunch.
I looked around. The women around me were women. They weren’t the girls I played Dungeons and Dragons with in Breanne’s basement. They were still my friends and I knew they still loved me but I could sense a bit of our dynamic being thrown off. Sasha and Breanne were the only ones in the group older than me back when everything about ages made sense, but I’d always been the responsible one of the group. Now I was surrounded by responsible mothers who were all older than me. Leaving me the youngest again by a huge margin.
“Y’alright, Nor-nor?” Amy, who had been my absolute best friend since I was a very young child, asked.
I nodded. “Fine. Just… just thinking,” I said.
“About?” Kaitlin pressed.
“Everything’s changed. I missed so much. I'm listening to all this and I wasn’t here for any of it and this isn’t right!” My eyes started to well up. I blinked tears out of my vision, letting them fall down my cheeks and wiping them off impatiently. “I was supposed to be here for this. I was supposed to be your kids’ fun aunt who spoiled them rotten. The way we used to dream about, remember? It wasn’t supposed to be like this.”
“Oh sweetie!” Kaitlin exclaimed, wrapping her arms around me and putting her chin on top of my head. “We still love you. We don’t blame you for anything that happened. None of this is your fault.”
I sniffed. “I know,” I said. It wasn’t my fault. It wasn’t Damian’s either. It was those stupid Time Bombs’ fault for trapping me in the future by shutting the timeways. “I just… feel like I failed you guys.”
“Nora Jaqueline McCloud!” I heard several of my friends all say together.
I forgot they knew my middle name.
“Don’t you dare say that!” Kaitlin ordered. “You didn’t fail any of us. You had no control over what happened. And look. You’re here now. So none of it matters, you hear?” She grabbed my shoulders and made me look at her. “You’re still an honorary godmother to both June and Matthew—” Her two kids. “—so I don’t want to hear you saying you don’t belong among us anymore, okay?”
Spoken like a true mother. “Okay,” I said.
She hugged me again. “Good. Because we’re your friends and you’re our friend—no matter how much younger than us you are now.”
“Thanks Kat.”
“Of course, Nor-nor.”
The waiter came and brought back our bill receipts—that we’d all requested separately, heaven help the wait-staff—and quietly approached me. “Pardon me, miss,” he said, softly so none of my friends (who had gone back to talking about their kids) could hear him.
“Hmm?” I asked.
“I believe you tipped wrong,” he said, opening the folder that had my receipt and the cash I’d put in for a tip in it.
I glanced down. “No. No I meant to do that,” I said, noting that nothing was missing.
“Miss, that’s a one-thousand-percent tip,” he said.
I nodded. “I know. I also know that the waiters pool their tips at the end of the day and distribute it as evenly as they can. Waiting staffs don’t get nearly enough to live on anyway so I always give what I can. And my lunch wasn’t very expensive so I felt like I ought to tip high because of all the trouble you went to in order to serve me.”
“Miss—”
“Don’t worry, kid,” I said, noting that the waiter was definitely younger than me. “It’s not that big a deal on my end. Please just accept it and leave it.”
“Uh—of course,” he said. “Here’s your card and your receipt.”
I accepted both. “Thank you!” I said brightly, putting both in my wallet. The waiter left.
“What was that about?” Amy asked.
I shrugged. “I did something nice,” I said.
She tilted her head. “How much did you tip?”
“Musta been hefty if he tried to stop her,” Breanne reasoned.
“C’mon, Nor-nor,” Kaitlin prompted. “How much?”
“A hundred and fifty dollars,” I said.
Eyebrows went up. “You gave a hundred-fifty-dollar tip on a fifteen-dollar lunch?” Lily asked.
“Yeah.”
“That’s one-thousand-percent!” Amy said.
“Mmhmm,” I said. “Listen. Wait-staffs are criminally overworked and underpaid. They deal with a lot of crappy customers and I do what I can when I can.”
My friends all smiled and passed around words of agreement. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned.
Damian stood there. “Sorry to interrupt,” he said. “I’ll be waiting right outside in the car.”
“Be right out,” I said. “We’re just finishing up.”
He nodded and slipped through the restaurant before disappearing.
“Who was that?” Lily demanded once Damian was gone.
“Damian,” I said. “My godfather’s son.” I didn’t like to say Wayne out loud because it always attracted attention.
“That’s Damian Wayne? He grew up into quite a looker, didn’t he?” Lily said.
“Mmhmm!” Kaitlin agreed. “How old is he now?”
“Uh… he’s my age. Or… I guess… I'm his age. Now. Twenty-one. We’re both twenty-one,” I said.
My friends all shared playful looks I recognized—mostly on my brothers.
“So. When’s the wedding?” Kaitlin teased.
“I beg your pardon?” I asked.
“C’mon, McCloud!” Amy joked. “He was totally diggin’ you! And you were totally diggin’ him!”
“He literally said he was waiting for me outside,” I said. “He gave me a ride here while he went to a meeting and he’s my ride home.”
“Right—because he totally didn’t glance over his shoulder at you several times while he was leaving. Nor did you follow him with your eyes till he was out the door,” Amy continued.
“Guys. Damian and I… it’s not like that. And it’s more complicated than that.”
“So un-complicate it, Nor-nor,” Kaitlin said.
“Thanks for meeting me for lunch, guys, really,” I said, getting to my feet and grabbing my purse and sweater. “I had a great time. Let me know when you can do it again. I'm glad we got to do this.” I went around the table and gave them quick hugs before heading out the door. They knew me. They wouldn’t be offended that I didn’t stick around for their teasing.
Out in the parking lot, I caught sight of Damian’s nice Audi.
Mostly because Damian was leaning against the side of the front with his arms folded in a smedium green T-shirt that was just a tad too tight for his muscles. “Afternoon,” he greeted, pushing off the side of his car without the use of his arms and opening my door for me.
“Hi,” I replied as I ducked into his car. He shut the door behind me and circled around to get in the driver’s seat. “You know I could have driven myself.”
“Tt. Yes, but Todd isn’t the only one who enjoys driving with you.”
“I think you guys all like to see how nervous I get when y’all do reckless stuff like take corners too tight,” I joked.
“Or we just enjoy your company,” Damian reasoned.
I ducked my head awkwardly. “Thanks,” I mumbled. I shook my head. “You have impeccable timing, by the way. Did you bug my purse or something?”
“Tt. Didn’t need to. You left your spare comm-link in it.”
I sighed in frustration. “Of course I did,” I muttered. Damian chuckled. Neither of us brought up the fact that he must have, then, heard what my friends said about him—and him and me—after he left. But I could tell he was thinking about it too because we both shot each other tiny little peeks out of the corners of our eyes.
In those peeks was a silent agreement not to mention it.
^^^^^
“Damian? Damian! Damian?!” I called, bolting up the stairs and out of the Batcave, rushing around the mansion looking for him. I ignored the fact that I was still in my Cloudburst suit in the open. I needed to find Damian. Immediately. “DAMIAN!”
“You okay Cloudy?” Dick asked as I crossed into the main parlor.
“Where’s Damian?” I demanded.
Dick shrugged. “Haven’t seen him, kiddo. Sorry.”
I ran out of the parlor. “DAAAMMMIIIAAANNN!”
Strong hands caught my shoulders. “McCloud! What’s the matter?” the Batman in question demanded, pushing me just enough away from him to see my face.
I lifted my hands and put them both on the sides of his face, just to make sure it was really him.
Then I realized what I was doing and dropped them. “I, uh, I just had a really bad feeling that something was going to happen to you,” I said.
Damian scrunched his eyebrows. “Why? Who threatened me?” he asked.
I cleared my throat. “Scare—Scarecrow,” I said. “I was out on patrol and we got into a fight. I didn’t even know he was out of Arkham. He said…” I took a deep, shuddering breath. “He said that I better enjoy my time patrolling with you while it lasted because it wouldn’t last much longer. That soon one of us would be too afraid to even set foot on Gotham’s streets again, and he didn’t think it was going to be me. I knocked him out and rushed home to make sure he hadn’t come to inject you with his toxin or anything.”
Damian pushed my hair out of my face after I was done frantically explaining. “McCloud. It’s alright. I'm fine. Crane was just trying to frighten you and get under your skin. Don’t let him,” he said softly. He caught a few stray strands of hair and tucked them behind my ear. “Are you alright now? Crane doesn’t know who I am under the cowl. He can’t hurt me as Damian Wayne.” A small smirk pulled up his lips. “H*&%, he can barely hurt me as Batman when he’s lucky.” He pulled me into a hug. “It’s alright, Cloudburst. Everything is fine.” He put his hand on the back of my head. “Go shower and change. You’ll feel better after some sleep.”
“Right. Thanks. ‘Night Damian.”
“Goodnight, McCloud.”

Twitter Questions and Answers #WritingCommunity
Twitter Interview with the Writing Community
Greetings. Happy Saturday to everyone in the #WritingCommunity. This past week I asked a series of questions on Twitter and got varying answers to the questions. Here some of your answers will appear on here. Hope you have had a great start to the weekend so far. All responses from Twitter.
Question 1 for my post this weekend. What inspired you to become a writer?
From Tiffany Elliot When a student teacher in my 5th grade read my essay out loud to the class, then praised it as the best afterwards. It was a weekend assignment, so I was really nervous.
From BubbleyBrain  I enjoy writing. Did some fan fiction, was fun. People made fan art for me based on it. Thought to do it professionally and was a horrible mistake and I wasted years of my life even trying.
Question 2. What is yoru favorite genre or subjects to write about? Answers below too.
From Amanda Johnston-Creepy Word Witch  The Sci-Fi element creeping into my Fantasy books was brain-twisting, but it was a lot of fun to have to sit down and map out what exactly was happening to who, and when it was happening, and when it WASN'T happening...lol
From DB Carter- I like to write Drama and Romance
From Hardstyle Meets Headphones  Epic sword fights based on 15th century German martial arts  Evidently trauma (childhood trauma, traumatic experience, the aftermaths)  Sex - including discussions on foodplay and cruise lounge etiquette
Question 3 for my post this weekend. Which writer had the most or greatest influence on you?
From Jenn Sackleh  Although I’ve loved many authors and many books, I suppose Stephen King, because my mother use to read all of his books out loud to our family during my youth
From Diana Schooling  Lucy Maud Montgomery. Few writers can make the characters seem very real. Better than classics like Wuthering Heights, etc. She continues to be my writing hero, a goal tantalizingly just out of reach. Steven Moffat (Dr Who; Coupling) does that, too.
Question 4 for my post this weekend. What is your philosphy in life? Answers below
From Amanda Crozier Author   Take each day as it comes and don't worry about what is to come - it may never come and you will have worried for nothing.
From Jessey the Re-animator of Things   Always learn. Keep doing what you love. And above everything else, do the things to prove your self-doubt and other people wrong
From Dave Evans   If you can’t find a door make one, always try to leave a door open on friendships, treat people as they treat you, try not to judge empahsis on try and be thankful for what I have
Question 5 for my upcoming post on my blog. What do you think the biggest issue is facing humanity today (can be political or non politicial)? Answers below
From BubbleyBrain  Too much power and wealth in the hands of an elite few people and corporations.
From Holly Tinsley  Lack of trust/reliability in information sources both online and via spoken word. There's probably lots but hope that helps!
Question 6. For my post #WritingCommunity#WritingCommunity. If there was one thing that was going on in the world today that I could change what would it be?
From Kacey Kells  Climate change... because it threatens every form of life. Hence,  other issues come necessarily AFTER this one.
From Rebecca MacCeile  The current political circus in the US. It’s bad abroad too, but right now the US is just an embarrassment.
From The Adventures of Cardigan  Racism. We all bleed the same blood.
Question 7 for my blog post this weekend. Which of the fine arts (music, literature, art, etc) was your favorite to study in school?
From Maria Elena Martinez  Literature. I have a degree in English Literature.
From Lisa Reynolds English. I would have to have studied music but it wasn't an option.
From Sherril  Fine Art major, Graphic Design minor, sparking a creatively driven career, encompassing multiple mediums~~>>Self employed by "can do" attitude, each custom request contributing skills towards what is needed for the next! Follow your passion & success is inevitable.
Question 8 for my blog post this weekend. What genre or genres do you write and why did you chose that or those? What influenced you?
From Stephen J. Wolf  Always fantasy for me, writing or reading. I need the essence of magic, the ability to create from the mind alone and have it manifest in the world around me.
From Dana Lee Burton   I mostly #write#write in #fantasy#fantasy or #scifi#scifi #adventure#adventure. I love the thought of playing around with #magic#magic, so it's fun to create plot lines revolving around a world that has it. But I've written in a variety of different genres, a good story should be told regardless
Question 9 for my blog post this weekend. If you knew you only had a week left before biting the dust what would your 'bucket' list entail?
From author carrie weston   Now I’ve had a close experience so I’ve really thought about this one. I would go away with my family and do anything and everything fun and exciting with them so they remembered happy times with me
From Andrew Pullins  Spending time with my wife and friends, trying to outline my second wip so someone could pick up and run with it, travel a bit, and have fun. And pray. A lot. It would terrify me and that would be the one of thr only things that might bring me comfort.
From J.R. Rioux  Making sure I said my good-byes, assigning heirlooms to family, and figuring out where to get myself cremated.
Question 10 for my blog this weekend. If you like pizza what is your favorite toppings?
From reneemarskiauthor  Onions and mushrooms
From J.D Caren Mushrooms and onions
From Wanda Thibodeaux  Definitely classic pepperoni
From Juliette Kings   Pepperoni and artichokes and black olives and mushrooms. And lots of cheese!!!!! But seriously, pretty much everything except big chunks of green bell pepper.
Question 11 for my blog this weekend. If you write for both kids and adults which do you find harder to write?
From JCFuller M.S.Ed  I do write both and I do find challenges in both. With adults you can have little more freedom. With kids you do have to be careful what you write.
From CinderellaMonologues  Adults
From Wanda Thibodeaux  Kids. It's hard for me to talk in their language anymore, so to speak. I have to work hard to do it.
Question 12 What in your view is the hardest part of going through the process of getting a book published?
From Elizabeth A. Wilson   Publisher rejections that come back so fast there's no way anyone even looked at the manuscript & their cold letters lacking any acknowledgement of, let alone respect for, the time & hard work that went into writing a great story they ignored. They're why I publish Indie now.
From AngieMWrites  Creating a submission packet. Published A wants these three thing. Pub B wants those three things in a different format and two others. Pub C wants completely different things.
From Bryan R. Quinn  In mainstream publishing, it would be securing a literary agent.  In India publishing, it would be finding a reputable publisher.
These are all great answers from very great writers and authors in the #WritingCommunity. Do go and check out their works. Hope you have great Saturday
