It's Like Supernatural (Agatha Harkness x Reader)
Summary: You didn’t believe in ghosts, so you naturally ignored the warnings that the house of your dreams was haunted.
Word Count: 4.8k
Warnings: 18+ Minors Do Not Engage!! Dirty talk, voyeurism, masturbation, ghost sex
A/N: This is a quick one-shot inspired by some behind the scenes looks at ghost!Agatha (the hottest ghost around, truly), my lifelong dream to own a house like the one in Practical Magic, as well as my endless love for Supernatural by Ariana Grande. I hope you enjoy and feel free to let me know what you think! :)
Tag-List: @mrsines @chiar4anna
When you heard the house you were interested in buying was haunted, you didn’t think much of it. Locals loved ghost stories, and you assumed this was just another tall tale to spook off tourists.
Even if you believed in ghosts, which you didn’t, that wasn’t going to stop you from purchasing the home of your dreams. It was a beautiful Victorian house that was arguably far too large for just yourself, with three whole floors to decorate and make your own. There were sprawling gardens and even a large greenhouse already filled with a variety of plants you couldn’t even begin to name.
You wondered if the realtor had been tending to them.
It was perfect, and you couldn’t believe how cheap it was. The realtor seemed far too eager, and a bit surprised, when you settled on it, but you chalked it up to desperation to make a sale.
When you had moved the majority of your belongings in, you decided it didn’t matter if this alleged ghost was real or not, absolutely nothing would ever make you want to leave.
If only you knew how very wrong you were.
Things seemed normal, at first. The house was everything you dreamed it to be. From what you were able to get out of the very quiet realtor and even more closed off locals, the house had been abandoned since its last owner died. There wasn’t much information on her, but she apparently gained a rather interesting reputation, based on the horrified expressions on their faces whenever you asked about her.
Agatha Harkness.
There was a portrait of her hanging above the fireplace in the library. It was one of the things that caught your eye the first time touring the property. She was beautiful, with wild dark brown hair and piercing blue eyes that almost seemed to follow you around the room. There was a locket around her neck that appeared to be a family heirloom, maybe. Her red lips were twisted upwards, forming an almost diabolical smirk that sent a shiver down your spine.
Maybe there was a reason the locals all seemed to fear her.
Things changed a few weeks after you moved in. It wasn’t much, at first. You left your laptop on the kitchen counter one morning before leaving, and when you came back home that evening you found it on the dining room table. Maybe you moved it and didn’t remember, you decided as you started your dinner. It wouldn’t have been the first time.
Only, things you placed around the house kept showing up elsewhere, and the more it happened the crazier you felt. You left a book in your bedroom and found it in your bathroom. The reading glasses you always kept in the sitting room wound up in the dining room. Clothes you swore you folded and set in your dresser were later found in a wrinkled heap in one of the spare guest rooms.
It finally reached the point where you wondered if someone was breaking in, but surely an intruder would do more than just play little pranks on you.
You didn’t even take the time to consider if the whispers and rumors of a ghost were real, you knew it was just your overactive imagination playing tricks on you. Work had been more stressful than usual, this was surely just a case of exhaustion. You most likely moved all of those items and couldn’t remember, that’s all.
It was around a month after you moved in when you decided to do some redecorating. You’d kept the majority of the paintings the previous owner, Agatha, had collected. They were interesting pieces, most of them seemed to be hundreds of years old. But there were a few you were looking to swap out, the portrait in the library included.
One rainy Saturday afternoon you grabbed a ladder, trudging into the library. Your eyes briefly flickered up at the portrait, and felt the strange sensation that the haunting blue eyes were watching you. Climbing up, you steadied yourself and made sure your feet were secure as you raised your arms, grasping onto the frame. Tugging lightly, you were perturbed when it didn’t budge.
Odd, but it did appear to be rather old, maybe it was stuck on one of the nails. Readjusting the position of your feet on the ladder you leaned forward, pulling harder than you did the first time. The painting still wouldn’t move. You tried everything, lifting and even trying to turn it, but it wouldn’t move.
Questioning your strength, you attempted to get it off the wall one more time, your feet nearly sliding off the ladder as you quickly grabbed onto the mantle of the fireplace stopping you from toppling backwards.
“Not very strong, hm?”
A sense of panic overtook you and you lost your balance, hitting the floor with a loud thud as the floorboards beneath you creaked. You whipped your head around, wondering who said that, whilst coming to the startling realization you weren’t alone.
Maybe someone had been breaking in.
Looking up, you felt your heart stop as you saw a translucent figure floating in the air. You did a double take, looking between the figure and the portrait on the wall while struggling to catch your breath.
It couldn’t be.
The figure looked down at you, a predatory grin forming on her lips. Her long hair was so pale it appeared to be white and it was draped over her shoulders cascading down her back. The longer you stared at her the more you realized that it was Agatha Harkness.
But that’s impossible. Ghosts weren’t real.
“I…I don’t,” you barely managed to get out, at a loss for words as Agatha let out a loud cackle, the sound bouncing off the walls.
“Not very clever, either,” Agatha mused, tilting her head to the side as she gazed down at you. “I would have thought my rather obvious haunting over the past few weeks would have been enough to make you notice.”
Your head spun as you listened to her talk, and every odd occurrence over the past month started to make sense.
“You’re less chatty than I thought you’d be,” Agatha observed, floating down until she was inches away from your face. “Although the silence is certainly better than that incessant singing you do in the shower. Ever heard of voice lessons?”
Your eyes widened as you realized she had been spying on you, and your cheeks grew hot at the knowing smirk she gave you.
Clearing your throat, you managed to stand up, taking a step back to create some distance between you and…the ghost.
“Is this the part where you send me running so you can keep the house for yourself?” You asked, shocking both yourself and Agatha.
“She makes jokes,” Agatha retorted, raising her hand to tap her index finger across her cheek as she stared at you. “And no, dear, if I wanted you gone I would have sent you away like the others.”
“The others?” You questioned, thinking back to your many conversations with the realtor and vaguely remembering being told you were the first person to have purchased the house.
Agatha appeared to watch the gears turn in your head as she came closer to you, slowly circling you. “There’s a reason no one else ever bought this house. They all wanted to renovate it, or tear it down and build some monochromatic slab. Modern architecture is truly a disgrace.”
She spat, frowning at the memory before looking back at you, an intrigued expression on her face. “But you’re different. I could tell.”
“So you’re a ghost because you want to keep your house intact?” You asked, genuinely curious.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Agatha scoffed, as if that was the craziest question you could have asked her. She motioned to her wispy form. “This was a calculated risk that I plan on reversing. Eventually.”
“I see,” you said, taking in what she said, while also wondering why you were having a conversation with a ghost instead of doing what any sane person would have done. Moved. But there was the doom and gloom that was the current housing market, so maybe you were the sane one. “And how do you plan on doing that?”
Agatha raised an eyebrow, eyes roaming up and down your body in a way that left you shivering. “I’m glad you asked, doll.”
You made a mental note to start listening to people more often, especially when they try to tell you a house is haunted.
Agatha Harkness was one of the most intriguing people, or rather ghosts, you had ever met. She was full of contradictions, and you sometimes struggled to decipher if she was lying to you or not. It was clear she wasn’t used to sharing her space, in this ghostly form or not, and had absolutely zero sense of boundaries.
It was also hard to establish ground rules when she could just float through locked doors.
After a while you got her to stop listening in on your concert showers, although you swore you’d sometimes catch a glimpse of her in the bathroom mirror as you were washing your hair. You didn’t want to explore why the thought of her lurking made you as excited as it did.
She was brilliant, clearly, and you had difficulty wrapping your brain around the existence of not only ghosts, but witches. After your conversation in the library, she instructed you on how to open the passageway behind one of the bookshelves, which revealed a room tucked away from prying eyes. It was filled with countless items you couldn’t begin to recognize, as well as dozens of vials filled with colorful liquids and various animal skulls.
After you nearly fainted from the overwhelming and shocking turn of the day’s events, Agatha casually informed you that she was a witch. A centuries old witch. What led to her current spirit state was unclear, and the light prying you attempted got you nothing but icy cold glares, so you let it go.
She did seem to have a rather interesting plan to get her corporeal form back, although you understood absolutely none of it no matter how many times she impatiently explained it to you.
You thought it best to leave all magical and potentially illegal activities to her.
Agatha wasn’t kept to the house, a fact you realized one morning a few weeks after her rather blunt introduction. She could come and go as she pleased, and you never questioned where she floated off to, choosing instead to enjoy the welcome peace and quiet.
She’d come back hours or sometimes days later more annoyed than when she left, so you assumed wherever she was heading didn’t do much to lift her spirits. Pun intended.
You chose not to linger on why you were beginning to enjoy her presence more than her absence.
After a while the two of you settled into a rather comfortable routine. You had learned Agatha was able to muster the energy to physically grasp onto objects, hence the rather annoying saga of ‘I thought I left this here but it ended up there’. She enjoyed showing off for you, making a show of stirring your tea or tending to the plants in the greenhouse (it was there you met her familiar Scratchy, the rabbit that was most definitely not a rabbit).
There was the one time you were getting dressed and your bra was unhooking after you were certain you secured it, but Agatha swore up and down she had nothing to do with it.
You both ignored the fact that you could feel her icy presence behind you as her hands delicately played with your hair.
It was nice, in a way, sharing the enormous house with someone else. Even if that someone else was a ghost, who was really a witch, who most definitely had murdered countless people. But, there was a different problem that had been brewing since she revealed herself to you.
You were embarrassingly attracted to her.
It was unclear where the supernatural pull came from, but she soon became the only thing on your mind. You were entranced, completely under her spell, and all you could do was enjoy having her attention. The feeling of her watching you, the almost hungry look in her eyes as she stared at you left you wanting more.
You couldn’t help but wonder how long she was able to use her hands before fading.
As much as you tried to hide your crush it was becoming increasingly obvious, if the way Agatha leered and smirked at you was any indicator. You had never been good at this sort of thing, and the added complication of pursuing a, possibly temporary, ghost left you reeling at how to make a first move.
It didn’t help that Agatha was a relentless flirt, saying endless cheeky one liners and innuendos, delighting in the way your cheeks would flush. It sometimes felt like she was testing how far you would let her go before squawking and retreating to the comfort of your bedroom.
Lately you decided to push her buttons in the only way you felt comfortable trying. Since outwardly flirting wasn’t your strong suit, you decided to take a more subtle approach. You were curious to see if she would take the bait.
After a particularly interesting dinner, which consisted of you eating and Agatha watching you eat, you had left more flustered than before. While Agatha watching you eat was a normal occurrence (she claimed she missed food), this evening was a bit different. You had tried a new recipe she taught you, and couldn’t stop the moan that left your lips at the taste of the vodka sauce.
Agatha’s reaction was different, though. As you were trying to determine if her eyes were darker than they normally appeared, the ghost had moved from her normal spot of hovering over the center of the table to settling beside you.
Swallowing your bite of pasta you glanced at her, trying to ignore the butterflies in your stomach from the way her eyes were locked on your lips.
“Can I help you with something?”
Agatha refrained from commenting, silently vanishing from the room in her typical dramatic fashion. Rolling your eyes, you finished your dinner alone, all whilst replaying her reaction to your moan.
Later that night you got settled in the bathroom, stripping down and turning on your shower. Steam filled the room, you’d always preferred the water to be just below scalding, and once you were satisfied with the temperature you got in. Lathering your body with soap, you peeked out of the shower to see if Agatha would appear. However, if the ghost was in the room, she wasn’t making her presence known.
You continued on with your shower, the steam starting to fog up the mirrors. It was then the idea hit you. Your hands roamed down, and you spread your legs. Initial hesitation and embarrassment pushed aside in favor of imagining Agatha’s heated gaze once more, you teased yourself.
Using two fingers you played with your clit, circling the sensitive nub until you let out a soft moan at the sensation. You were already on edge after dinner, and every time you closed your eyes you pictured Agatha staring at you. Leering as she licked her lips. Letting out another moan, you teased your entrance, pretending that Agatha’s fingers were your own as you slowly pushed your index finger in with ease.
You were soaked, and not from the downpour of scorching water flowing around you. Adding a second finger, you took your time, enjoying the slight stretch as your inner walls fluttered. You couldn’t help but think about how much fuller you would feel with Agatha’s fingers inside you, her lithe digits hitting the spots you had difficulty reaching on your own.
The name slipped past your lips before you were fully aware of what you were saying.
“Agatha,” you whimpered, the sound of your voice cutting through the downpour of water.
Closing your eyes, you cupped your right breast with your other hand. Using your thumb and index finger to lightly tug on your nipple, you imagined Agatha standing behind you as her hands roamed your body. It was far too easy of a fantasy to slip into, as you were lost in your pleasure, increasing the pace of your fingers as you fucked yourself.
Nearing your release, you tilted your head back, the warm water cascading down as you let out a louder moan. You were so close, you could nearly taste it; an earth shattering orgasm just out of reach. Chasing your high, you roughly pulled on your left nipple, as Agatha’s name escaped your lips once more, stronger this time.
“Agatha.”
There was a faint, cool sensation behind you and you didn’t have to turn around to know she was there.
Of course she was.
Any self consciousness you would have normally felt being exposed was absent, replaced by an overpowering desire for Agatha to have you in whatever way she was capable of. Your fingers slowed as you made your thrusts more intentional, curling them just right and letting out every gasp and whimper. The knowledge Agatha was watching you pushed you closer to letting go.
But there was still something missing.
The hairs on the back of your neck stood up as an uncanny feeling washed over you. It was then you heard her voice whispering in your ear, sending a shiver down your spine.
“You look so desperate like this, moaning my name like a filthy whore,” Agatha murmured, and you let out a low groan in response, every word she uttered making you clench around your fingers.
“Agatha…”
“Come for me,” Agatha whispered, voice so low you barely heard her.
The reaction was instantaneous, obeying her words as your cunt spasmed around your fingers. Your legs quivered as you rode out your orgasm, feeling the tight coil in your lower stomach send a sweet sensation you felt all throughout your body. Slowing your fingers to a halt, you allowed yourself to revel in the feeling, Agatha’s presence still looming behind you as you came down from the high.
Pulling your fingers out they were coated in your cum, as the water began to rinse them clean. Agatha moved, hovering in front of you. Her pupils appeared to be blown out as she gazed at you in a way that had you squirming.
“Suck them clean,” Agatha ordered, a trace of amusement in her tone as she watched you eagerly follow her every command.
The strong effect she had on you was unlike anything you had ever experienced before, to the point where you were unable to think of anything besides the ghost.
What was she doing to you?
Raising your fingers to your lips, you sucked on them, moaning at the taste of yourself on your tongue. You swore you heard Agatha let out a low growl, but when you raised your head she was gone. Disappearing as quietly as she had earlier that evening.
A wave of disappointment hit you, and you tried to ignore the sting of rejection as your gut churned. Turning the shower off, you grabbed your towel, drying yourself off before wrapping the towel around your body, securing it so it wouldn’t fall.
You should’ve known Agatha wasn’t really interested in you. She was probably bored, trapped in her current spectral state and saw you as an easy distraction.
The house was eerily quiet, save for the creaking of the floorboards as you entered your bedroom, and you were so wrapped up in your own thoughts that it took you a moment to realize that you weren’t alone.
Doing a double take, you found Agatha waiting for you. The ghost hovering near your bed, arrogant smirk painted on her features as she observed you.
“Took you long enough,” Agatha said, appearing to be lounging on your pillows. “I was beginning to wonder if you’d drowned.”
“Nice to see you’d care if that were to happen,” you deadpanned, shifting uncomfortably as a chill overtook you, and not the type you had grown accustomed to from being in the ghost’s presence.
Agatha raised an eyebrow, but she refrained from responding. As you took a step closer to the bed, you went slack jawed upon seeing what was most definitely not on the bed earlier. A collection of your toys were laying in a neat row, having been sorted by both size and color, and it didn’t take you long to deduce who put them there.
Cackling at your reaction, the sound pleasantly ringing in your ears, Agatha motioned to the toys.
“Well?”
Gulping, you nodded your head towards your most recent purchase. A purchase that was most definitely not inspired by Agatha’s apparent obsession with purple. The toy in question was one far bigger than what you’d usually use, and a lot thicker as well. It was a deep purple that caught your eye as you were scrolling through the website, and you may have pictured it stretching you out as Agatha cooed filthy praises in your ear.
“Dirty girl,” Agatha said quietly, gleeful as you joined her on the bed, your towel hitting the floor. Her eyes fixated on your naked form as she instructed you to lay against the pillows. “Work yourself up to take it, dear. I don’t want to break my newest toy just yet.”
You felt yourself beginning to ache again, and the anticipation of what was to come combined with the ravenous glances Agatha kept casting at you ensured you were bound to have another explosive orgasm.
Grabbing one of your smaller toys, a light pink finger vibrator, you watched Agatha settle in beside you. It was just enough feeling her beside you that you could picture what it would be like if she could actually touch you.
Teasing the toy, you turned it on, the vibrations against your clit nearly causing you to let go far too early.
Agatha let out a rather guttural noise, as she leaned in closer to you. “So eager. You’re just dripping to be fucked, aren’t you honey?”
Her words only served to motivate you, as you pushed the toy through your folds, quietly crying out as it filled you. This was a toy you used more frequently, and you knew the exact speed and way to make yourself unravel without much effort.
Agatha appeared to be just as entranced as she whispered absolute filth in your ear, watching you fuck yourself closer to an orgasm with every thrust. It was unsurprising Agatha was so skilled at dirty talk, and you were even less surprised at how every word that left her translucent lips had you more wet than before. Your cunt aching as you neared your climax.
“You’re taking the toy so well,” Agatha encouraged you as you let out another whine. “This pussy was meant to be fucked open. It’ll look so perfect stretched around my cock.”
You couldn’t stop yourself as your vision turned white, hips thrusting as Agatha cooed. You came on the toy, crying out even louder than before. The vibrations quickly became too much as you felt your walls quiver and legs shake from being overstimulated. Your arms felt like jelly but you managed to turn the toy off, leaving it inside you for a few more moments as you enjoyed the afterwave of your orgasm.
Unfortunately, Agatha was even less patient in the bedroom than she was at any other given moment. You felt something cold grasp onto your hands and with a startled gasp you realized Agatha’s fingers were grabbing onto the toy. With a gentle but quick pull, the toy was out of you and tossed on the floor. You couldn’t help but cry out at being left empty, which made Agatha far too pleased.
You watched with curious eyes as Agatha mustered the strength to be able to grab the original toy you selected, feeling another tingle between your legs at the sight of her holding the large dildo.
“You should feel lucky I’m not in my full corporeal form just yet,” Agatha said, voice low with want as she approached you.
“I wish you were,” you allowed yourself to say, words becoming more difficult to form from how desperate you were to come again.
“Be careful what you wish for,” Agatha warned, raising the toy to tease your entrance, gently rubbing it up and down and you squealed as it brushed against your clit. “I’m going to ruin you, pet.”
You were soaked, completely dripping onto your comforter, at this point, but you couldn’t bring yourself to care as you watched Agatha push the head of the toy inside you. You moaned, feeling yourself being forced to take it as she let out a groan as well.
“What I’d give to feel you clenching around me,” Agatha said, eyes glued to your cunt stretching around the girth.
Your head thrashed as the pain of being fucked with something larger than you had ever taken began to take over.
“It’s too much,” you whimpered, hips jerking as Agatha laughed again, forcing you to take more of it.
“You’ll take whatever I want you to,” Agatha informed you, her words causing your clit to throb. “And I want to watch this pretty pussy be stuffed full of my cock.”
When the toy was into the hilt, Agatha gave you a moment to adjust. You had never felt so full and your hips desperately bucked for more as you writhed from the sensation. The pain beginning to be replaced with a carnal desire for her to fuck you senseless. When Agatha deemed you ready, she moved, her hand fucking the toy into you hard and deep.
The only noise in the room was the sound of Agatha fucking into your sopping cunt, the wet slaps mixing in with both of your moans. Agatha seemed determined to make you come before she lost the ability to command the toy.
“I know you can give me one more,” Agatha urged you on, increasing her pace, and you knew you would have difficulty walking in the morning.
All you could do was cry out in agreement, meeting her for every thrust as you felt your head begin to spin. It was too much, and you weren’t sure how anything else would ever compare.
“You’re going to come for me,” Agatha breathed out, appearing more desperate than before. You wondered how much of an effect this was able to have on her, given her current state. “And when you do, I want you to scream my name as you soak my cock. Can you do that for me?”
Whimpering as you nodded, Agatha gave one more thrust of her hand as you came for a third time, nearly blacking out in the process as your eyes clamped shut. Your back arched upwards as you squeezed your thighs together, keeping the toy trapped inside you as you felt cum dripping down your thighs.
It was an otherworldly experience, to the point where you briefly wondered if she had killed you from the pleasure she had just granted you.
Coming back down to earth, you panted as you collapsed onto the bed. Your body was dripping with sweat and you felt sticky and filthy, but too exhausted to take another shower. It was unclear how long you remained there with the toy nestled deep inside you. Agatha had drifted back up beside you, offering you sweet praises as you enjoyed your afterglow.
Eventually, the sensation was too much and you managed to muster the strength to gently pull the toy out of you, letting out a satiated gasp when it was removed. Your entire body ached as you made a note to clean the toys, and your bedding, in the morning.
But now, as sleep became imminent, you tossed your comforter off the bed, wiggling under your top sheet as Agatha gazed at you.
“That was amazing,” you said sleepily, head hitting the pillow as you struggled to keep your eyes open. “I’m sorry I didn’t return the favor.”
Agatha shook her head, an unusually soft smile on her face. “Don’t be. I enjoyed the show.’
Drifting off, you blinked, eyelids feeling heavier with each second you kept them open.
“Besides,” Agatha mused as you felt yourself succumb to sleep. “You can return the favor once I get my purple back.”
You made another note to actually listen to her plans for getting back into an actual body in the morning. Maybe there was something you could do to speed along the process. For no particular reason, of course.

Mr fix it - dad Theo Nott x femreader
Description: Theodore is protective over his wife and daughter as they accidentally take a fall into the lake under his supervision
Word count: 1.65k
Fluff
Warning: mentions of falling into the lake (no complete drowning, just panic)
likes comments + reblogs appreciated xx
...
After graduating high school, Theodore wasted no time in proposing.
It was a collection of things. He didn't want to risk the two of you drifting apart. With his senior father falling ill, Theodore knew what would be waiting for him with his father's departure, a huge mansion, too much money and oh so much time.
Being all alone in that house was his nightmare. He knew he would go insane if you were not by his side, as his wife, creating a home out of that residency together.
So that you did. A small, intimate ceremony, your close friends and family, a not-so-humble celebration at the manor that would soon be yours to share.
When at Hogwarts, you practically lived with each other; your dorm was his and vice versa. Moving in was bliss.
You had redecorated the house and brought life back into its rooms; it was such a big property, though it never felt empty; how could it? When it was filled with so much young love.
After falling pregnant with your daughter, Theodore's whole demeanour shifted; a once carefree young boy had become an observant young man, the father of his little girl.
He would make sure, heavy or sharp objects weren't in her reach.
Her bedroom, to Theo's liking, was almost bare of furniture, simply her bed, a rocking chair and a small table cluttered with books, avoiding almost all ability of injury.
He would hover over her each step she took; this became harder the faster she ran; he was so scared of her own two feet, his arms never too far away, in case he needed to catch her.
"You need to relax, Teddy. She's not made of bubble wrap. Children are meant to fall and cry. It's natural" you expressed, sliding into bed next to him
"I know, I just don't want to see either of you hurt, ever." he sighed back
"Theo, when have we ever" you smiled at his foolish panic
"You do your damn best at keeping us safe alright, just take a step back. It'll be good for her, ok?" you said, hands through his hair
He looked into your eyes, "Ok?" you repeated
"Ok." he agreed, kissing you goodnight.
You were quick to fall asleep. Theo laid, eyes open, mind awake. How could he sit back and not do everything he could to make sure his precious girls didn't get hurt, even by accident. His heart strings pulled at the very thought of you both, it came from love, such devotion to his two brilliant girls, his wife and daughter.
The next afternoon, as he rested and watched against a large tree in the backyard, he observed the two of you playing near the lake on the property's edge.
'they're fine', leave them be', he reminded himself, body heavy against the tree, eyes still glued to you two.
When, from his distance, he saw your energetic three-year-old jump around you, you were wearing a long flowing dress; it was just a little too long for your body, as he had watched you hold it up in your hands to avoid tripping.
His two girls picked flowers by the lakeside, placing them into a basket you carried on your arm.
It was in a flash of a second as he watched your daughter step on the hanging fabric, causing you to fall in the water, "Daddy!" your small child called out
He sprinted toward you. "Stay there!" he yelled towards her. As he ran, he watched his daughter willingly enter the water to try and help you before he could get to you, completely ignoring his instructions
The problem was the dress was too heavy, you were struggling to stay afloat, and your daughter, she didn't know how to swim.
You held your daughter above water as she kicked against the current in fright, gasping for air yourself; you were swallowing too much water.
Without hesitation, Theodore plunged to your rescue, taking your daughter into his hand, the other pulling you with them.
She cried in confusion as she was placed onto the grass, but her now very drenched father, "Don't move darling", he sternly instructed her as he rushed to your side, rubbing your back as you coughed up.
"What's wrong with mommy?" your daughter questioned, tears still falling down her face. She knew she was responsible
"She's alright, mommy's alright," he said, holding your hair back as you caught your breath.
Crawling towards your daughter, you lay down completely on the grass next to her, "I'm ok, sweetheart", wiping the tears off her now puffy cheeks.
Theodore knew the child was ok, so he cupped your face to inspect for anything. When he was satisfied, he joined your place on the floor
"Holy shit" he muttered, grasping what just unfolded, placing his daughter onto his lap
"We're fine" you smiled towards your obviously freaked-out husband
"Sorry" your daughter frowned
"Don't ever come in the water again, alright, not until we teach you how to swim," you say, trying to hide your own panic about what might have happened if Theo wasn't closed; she nodded in agreement.
That night in bed, after putting your daughter into her own room, Theodore suggested removing the lake altogether.
"No, that's not necessary, Theo", you insisted
"and just after you told me to lay off as well" he shook his head, rubbing his eyes
"we're safe thanks to you, alright? Even if we do get hurt, you always come and fix it, piece us back together," you soothed
He couldn't even look at you without reimagining you fighting in the water
"Well, I know something you don't know, something that might cheer you up" You smiled, gently moving his face towards your own
"What's that?" he said, looking deeply into your eyes
Before you could reply, your daughter crept into your bed, sliding herself into the middle of you both
"Are you ok, my love?" you ask your little girl as she moves beside you
"I no sleep" she huffed, getting comfortable
Theodore smiled, eyes wandering between you both
"What are we call, baby brother, daddy?" she questioned
"You want a baby brother?" he said, gently wrapping his long arm across you and your child
You tried to hide your face
"No silly Daddy, Mommy said he's coming soon", she smiled with excitement
"Really?" Theodore said to you, sitting upwards
"yeah," you laughed as Theodore placed kisses all over your face, your daughter laughing at the commotion.
This meant two things, his family extending and another little human to worry over.
i love dad theo

hi! I just had this idea of Illumi going to introduce his girlfriend/fiancée to his family, except that she's a spoiled queen bee regina george-ish/cher horowitz like (somehow, they managed to be a couple). Idk really, the image got in my head and I thought it would be funny to see the Zoldycks reaction lmao
When Illumi made mention of his future wife, surprise and disbelief exploded in his family’s eyes. They intended him to follow family traditions and continue the Zoldyck line of course, but when it came to finding a partner the family was sure an arranged match would be needed.
To think there was a woman on this Earth who not only found attraction with Illumi but Illumi himself approved of was a huge shock.
Silva expected the woman to be strong and bear powerful children for the Zoldyck family.
Kikyo believed the woman’s beauty was what attracted her son.
Zeno felt pity for the woman as she must’ve been submissive and easy for Illumi to control.
The traits of being soft-spoken, delicate, graceful, and well-educated gathered in everyone's mind.
But…
A young woman dressed fashionably in black and leopard strutting into the Zoldyck family mansion as if she owned it and Illumi trailing behind holding a cat was far from their predictions.
It took a lot for Kikyo to hold in her anger and not faint at the sight.
“Father, Mother, I’d like to introduce you to my fiancee.”
A displeased grunt from his fiancee and Illumi was quick to add to his sentence.
“And her cat, Cassandra.”
Silva didn’t respond at first. He just stared at Camilla, his steely gaze lingering on her Prada dress, the excessive jewelry, and—unfortunately—the very loud sound of her heels.
Was this the best his son could do? Did he fail as a father somewhere? Perhaps he broke him too early.
You completely unbothered, smiled brightly and stuck out your hand
“It's very nice to meet you Mr and Mrs Zoldyck. You have a lovely home.”
He looked at her hand as though it might bite him, and then—after a long, uncomfortable silence—gave a small, formal nod.
“I’m glad you think so-” Kikyo started.
“But it could be redecorated don't you think?” you continued.
“What?”
Did she just insult the state of their home.
“Black and white is so outdated. Perhaps a shade of red or purple might do. What do you think Illumi?”
“I’ll keep it in mind when building a place for you.”
Silva and Zeno exchanged glances. It was clear this woman found a way to exert control over Illumi. Such a thing was unspeakable. Either she used an ability of some sort or she truly is that influential. It was dangerous either way.
Taking initiative Zeno spoke up. “Are you aware of our families occupation?”
“Of course, you're assassins, right? Illumi has told me all about it. I promise I'm more than able to continue the business-
A pin was thrown in your direction aimed for the neck but you were able to grab it swiftly.
“Is this a gift? It's beautiful. I have a dress in this same color to pair it with,” you explained excitedly while looking over the jeweled hairpin.
Kikyo frowned at her failure to inflict damage.
“How was it the two of you met?” Silva asked wanting to keep things on track.
Illumi glanced at you before answering. “I met her while completing a job. She was arguing with my target and stabbed him in a fit of rage.”
“I see. Was that the first time you’ve killed someone?”
You adjusted in your seat and gave a small sigh of impatience. “Am I the only one who thinks this kind of talk is boring? For such an infamous family I was expecting much more entertainment.” You examined your perfectly manicured nails.
“Honestly you're just like Illumi, Sliva was it? Much too serious.”
Illumi’s lip twitched at the playful jab. Silva's eyes narrowed, but he said nothing.
“What do you do for fun around here? I mean, besides, you know, the whole... killing people thing."
A tense silence followed.
“Nothing?”
“Has anyone ever heard about hobbies? Knitting, cooking, reading, yoga? For such a well-off family one would expect that you should have a spa day once in a while. A family day at the beach. Just relaxing. You know, take a break from all the stabbing."
“Relaxing?” Silva questioned in disbelief.
“Yes. Surely it must be tiring being all serious and stabby all the time. I know a guy who is amazing at massages. I could give you his number. You look like you need one.”
A chuckle could be heard from Zeno.
“You’re rather amusing. I can see why Illumi is so taken with you.”
“I always aim to please, Grandpa.”
Zeno raised an eyebrow at the endearment. But didn't say anything in fact, he seemed rather pleased.
The evening continued that way. Despite the family making plenty of attempts to threaten or test you. You continued to exceed their expectations and bring humor and warmth into the home.

Can We Start Over? masterlist
“Oh my god, Y/n. What a fucking dick. But your response was gold! I wish you’d stayed to see what happened. Holy shit!” Brandy laughed as she clinked her glass with yours, “That was some gangster shit right there!”
You both laughed at your recount of what had happened with Harry. You met your best friend Brandy for Sunday brunch at your usual spot. You had called her on Saturday after your exit paperwork was taken care of with Mr. Spector and said you had some very interesting news to tell her but that you wanted to share it in person. This wasn’t over-the-phone kind of gossip. It was a with-a-martini-in-hand face-to-face kind of gossip.
“And besides… the most important thing is at least you got off. Typical fuck-boy, good in bed but an absolute slut.”
You nodded, “Exactly. And it doesn’t bother me too much, really. Not now. Plus Mr. Spector gave me a really nice parting bonus. And I’m sure I’ll be matched with someone soon for another gig but even if it takes a few months, I won’t have to dig into savings thanks to him.”
And it was true. Mr. Spector presented you with the check and a hug and well wishes and you were nearly in tears by the time you left his estate. The movers were there the whole time, taking furniture out of his lovely home. A home you’d gotten to become very familiar with over the years. You held events and small parties there, you helped him redecorate the master suite and all the bathrooms (well you organized it all and helped the decorators and builders with the design and material selection). You even had your own room there. Not that you often needed to stay but that was part of your job description as a personal assistant. Sometimes you needed to stay. But usually, you’d go home at night.
The service that you worked for assured you there were a few clients in need of a personal assistant and if it was a good match, they’d refer you. That was important. To have the right match. You were lucky you were single and without kids. That meant you were more flexible. But that didn’t guarantee a good match.
You were sure you’d be enjoying a couple of weeks off work off to do nothing. It sounded fantastic.
. . .
You hadn’t expected to get an offer so soon. When Monica emailed you on Monday afternoon with the file and details of your new assignment (if you accepted) you perused the document with your mouth agape. You’d been matched with someone with what was known as stealth wealth (most were), who traveled frequently. You’d need to keep a bedroom in their home (not out of the norm) and travel with them from country to country. You would negotiate holidays and time off once meeting in person but the salary offered was the first thing you saw when you looked at the contract. There was no pressure to sign but how could you say no to an offer that would erase your college debt and allow you to buy a home in a year? You couldn’t let this one slip away.
You emailed Monica back right away that you’d accept it and like to move forward. The next step would be to meet in person. Then, you’d find out more about who you’d be working for. The service was very discreet. The client was always given absolute anonymity until it was time for the first meeting.
You stared at your computer screen as if to will Monica to respond faster. Sipping your coffee you tapped your foot against the floor in anticipation. You kind of would have enjoyed some time off. A week or two of downtime. Sleeping in. Catching up on all the movies and shows you hadn’t had time to watch on Netflix. Order in pizza and Chinese, and day drink in your pajamas. But this opportunity wouldn’t be on the table for much longer. Another person would snatch this up in a heartbeat. That dollar sign alone would see to it.
When Monica finally responded you placed your mug of coffee down, held your breath, and clicked the email.
You’ll be meeting with the client tomorrow at 8:00 am at an address that will be sent to you via our private messaging app at 5:00 am. He requests you bring a physical copy of your resume and if you both agree to terms tomorrow he’ll bump up your salary 10% automatically. Confirm this is okay and I’ll set up the rest. Monica
You squealed as you quickly typed back a resounding Yes! Book it! Thank you!
You stood up and paced. Okay. So you learned the client was a he. Well, you’d blow him away. You’d make him want to hire you on the spot with that lovely little 10% bump.
You already knew the outfit. Thanks to working for Mr. Spector, you’d been allotted a stipend for very nice, and well-tailored outfits for when you needed to look chic and professional. Great for a first meeting, your double-breasted jacquard wool coat in neutral colors with a pop of blue, and your blue silk button-up tucked into your jacquard wool skirt, matching the coat. Stylish, flattering, and appropriate for meetings with a wealthy man who would undoubtedly be dressed very nicely as well.
It was perfect. You couldn’t believe how lucky you’d gotten. A new assignment so quickly and one that paid so well? It felt like fate.
. . .
Harry had his house manager, Lucio, contact a highly recommended service to find a personal assistant for himself. He hated to find someone new because that was just one more person who knew his business. And he preferred having very few people in his circle. But Thasi was dumb. He couldn’t bear to have her working for him another minute. She had trouble with very basic tasks, like adding events to his calendar. She’d even missed two flights that he had booked for her and the last flight she missed he only realized it when she came into his study with a folder asking him about an account he needed to close out.
He stood from his desk and looked at the girl in astonishment, “Thasi. Why are you not 30,000 feet in the air right now? Why are you here standing in my house asking me this question? You are meant to be headed to New York City.” His voice was firm. Irritated.
The girl dropped her mouth open and blinked her eyes until it had finally dawned on her that she had forgotten to make her flight to meet with an art dealer on Harry’s behalf.
“I take it by the look on your face that you now realize your irreversible blunder. You’re fired. I’ll have your things sent back to your home by tomorrow afternoon.”
The poor girl couldn’t even argue with him. She knew she’d blown it. That was her second missed flight, of equal importance. And Harry felt he’d been quite generous and patient with her by giving her another chance. But he shouldn’t have.
So when he learned about Personal Premier Services from a few of his colleagues he decided to look for a PA that way rather than on his own like he had with Thasi. Harry’d had good luck finding staff for everything he needed for the last five years without help. The personal assistant was something rather new to him as he usually did most of his own errands by himself or had Lucio do them. But things were changing in his business and he needed an assistant quite desperately.
Harry woke before the sun rose and took his morning jog. He loved getting his day started earlier than most people. It meant he had time to do things like, exercise, catch up on world news, meditate, shower, and eat breakfast all before most other people would even be out of their beds. He also wished he could just stay awake forever. Wished he didn’t need sleep. There were so many things he could accomplish during the hours he wasted sleeping. But, being that he was only a mere human, his body required sleep.
“Sir? Y/n Y/l/n has just arrived. I have her waiting in the sitting room. Would you like me to bring her up?”
Harry cocked his head and looked to Lucio as he sat his pen down, “What did you say her name was again?”
“Y/n Y/l/n.”
Why did that name somehow feel so familiar?
“No. That’s okay, Lucio.” He stood from his chair, “I’ll go and greet her myself. Thank you.”
Harry’s immediate instincts told him that name was familiar. But why? And oddly, he first let his mind wander to it being you. But it couldn’t be. You were at the ball and he was certain you were wealthy just like him based on your outfit and your demeanor. He’d only gotten your first name that night, not your last name. And while Y/n was your name, the person looking for a job waiting for him downstairs certainly wouldn’t be the same woman who had put a used condom on his hotel door’s handle only to have his now ex-friend-whatever-she-was find it.
Yes. The ex-friend. Aster. He knew he should have stopped their little arrangement before she got too attached. It was never meant to be anything serious. From the start, he told her he was seeing other people but she never wanted to hear about anyone else he might have been sleeping with. And when he realized she started getting attached he should have recognized it was time to end it. But he didn’t.
Harry clenched his jaw and swallowed.
The knocking on his door had come a lot faster than he’d hoped. Aster wasn’t even supposed to be there. Her flight had been canceled so she wasn’t going to make it to New York City. He told her he’d see her the following day when he flew back. But of course, she rebooked a later flight without him knowing. As a surprise. And the call from Aster telling him she was on her way had shocked him and really put a damper on the night he thought he’d be enjoying with you. He just hoped she hadn’t passed you on her way to the door.
As soon as he opened it up, Aster slapped him across the face and held up a napkin with a blush-colored lip stain on it and a scribbled note. But what really had his attention was a droopy condom on his doorknob. Fresh with his come.
“What the fuck, Harry? What the fuck?!”
“Aster, I don’t… what is this?” He knew goddamn well what it was. It was you. “I think someone is just playing a joke on me. This isn’t mine…”
“The note, Harry? Whoever it is knows your fucking name.” Aster pushed passed him to make her way into the room.
Harry looked down the hallway and then cringed as he pulled the condom from the knob with the discarded tissue he picked up off the floor.
“Babe, this was just a cruel joke from someone–“
“Don’t you dare call me babe! And I don’t believe you. Who is going to play this kind of joke on you and then write your name on a napkin from the event you were just at?” She tossed him the napkin, “Hmm? I bet I know who. Someone you just fucked and kicked out because you didn’t think I’d come.”
Harry looked down at the napkin. Sure enough, it said A Secret Garden in the City with Alfred Spector’s company logo printed on it, as well as the note you’d written – Thank you, Harry xx. Bitch. He dropped the napkin onto the bed and ran a hand through his hair.
He didn’t know what to say. And it wasn’t like he’d been all that serious about Aster to begin with. She was gorgeous and they’d known one another for a while but that was where his attraction ended. In all honesty, he didn’t like her that much. Perhaps this was for the better, as much of an asshole as that made him seem.
“Aster, look…” he sighed and sat down at the edge of the messy bed, “You and I weren’t exactly serious. It’s always just been casual. You know that,” he looked at her with her hands on her hips, red in the face, tears just breaking her lash line. “I’m sorry. You and I were never headed for marriage. It was just some fun for a bit.”
“Some fun? I flew out here to see you on a whim. Not because I thought you were just a bit of fun but because I actually did like you. But you know what? You’re right. I don’t think I could have ever pictured myself marrying someone like you. Selfish, pathetic, overly regimented. You’re doomed to die alone, Harry.”
She pressed her lips together and waited for a response but when it didn’t come she stomped toward the door, slamming it behind her on her way out.
Harry smoothed his expensive blazer out and brushed off the feeling he was getting as he walked through the hallway to the foyer and then peeked into the sitting area where his interviewee would be sitting and waiting for him.
He nearly jumped back when his eyes met yours. Both of your faces held the same expression. Complete shock lined with minor disgust.
“This must be a joke,” you stood up from the plush silk-lined chair you’d been sitting in and looked around the room as if someone were going to pop out and tell you that you were on that show, Candid Camera, and it was all for a good laugh.
But the only person in your sight was the man you had a one-night stand with. The cocky asshole who’d treated you like garbage and then kicked you out of his room when he got a call from someone.
“I think there must be a mistake… You’re… are you a personal assistant? I’m confused.” Harry mimicked your body language, pivoting himself to look around to see if he could find someone and demand answers.
“Yes. That’s what I do for a living. But clearly, I have no intention of working for anyone like you, so if you don’t mind…” you picked up your briefcase and began to walk toward Harry to move past him and see yourself out.
But just as you walked through the threshold of the sitting room to the foyer Harry spoke, “Y/n.”
You stopped and turned to look at him in question.
“Come. Let’s have a chat,” he turned and began walking toward the grand stairwell that led upstairs, turning back to make sure you were following.
You blinked your eyes and scoffed as you looked down at your red-painted nails. Should you follow him? What would be the point? Just to hear him insult you and turn you away at the end anyway?
“You are looking for a job, are you not?” Harry spoke from the bottom of the stairwell, his hand on the lacquered wooden banister.
“I am. But… I don’t think this would work out.” You gestured at him.
“You and I are professionals and you come highly regarded. I’m in great need of an assistant. At the very least we can have a discussion and see where it takes us. I don’t like my time wasted and I’m sure you don’t either. You came all the way here. Let’s at least talk.”
Harry thought you looked cute and he could see the gears turning in your head. He could deal with the one night he’d had with you and the very improper thing you’d done which outed him to Aster if you were good at what you did.
“Yeah, but we…” you chose your words carefully, “Friday night? I honestly don’t think–“
“I can look past that if you can. This is strictly professional. I’ve no interest in anything more.”
What were you to do? He hadn’t just been a one-night stand. He was an asshole. Could he really pretend that none of that had happened? Could you?
But. There was the matter of the salary he was offering. An enticing and frankly irresistible number that could have you swallowing your pride.
“Fine. But I can assure you I will not tolerate being treated like…” you paused to carefully choose your words again. You were certain his house had staff listening in.
Before you could find the word you were seeking, Harry spoke, “Like an assistant who is paid to do her job flawlessly?” He began to take the steps upward and you followed.
You frowned at his description. As if you wouldn’t do your job flawlessly. You weren’t sure what he was implying but you had a bad feeling about this.
When you followed him into a large study with dark woods and big windows with heavy drapes, a huge walnut desk with an expensive chair and bookshelves lining one of the walls he closed, and locked, you noted, the door behind himself, “Sit.”
You looked at the plushy green velvet chairs with tufted cushions and ornate carvings in the arms and legs and placed your bag down on the chair next to the one you sat in. He sat in his own chair at his desk and looked at you, a harsh expression on his face. He was far more intimidating in this setting.
“Let’s get one thing straight,” he spoke clearly as he kept his eyes pinned to yours, “What you did when you left that night is unforgivable in a personal setting. And because of that, you and I will never be friends. But that doesn’t mean we can’t work well together as boss and employee. I expect complete discretion and a professional attitude from anyone that works for me. Is that a problem for you?”
You felt your ears growing hot as your anger slowly rose, “I am the most professional and discreet personal assistant you’ll ever find. Anyone else will disappoint you and I would also expect that any employer would treat me professionally and fairly. What you did to me that night was insulting and something I will never forget nor forgive. So don’t worry, I’d never want to be a friend to anyone like you.”
Harry clenched his jaw at your response and nodded, “Fair enough. Now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk job details and salary.” Harry looked down at his folder and opened it up.
“Salary? That part was already determined. Plus 10% on top if we come to an agreement on terms of employment today.” You reminded him.
Harry laughed and looked up at you with his head tilted to the side as if he were curious about you, “That was before I knew who I was offering such a generous salary to.” He looked down at the paper in front of him, marking something out and scribbling over it. He held the sheet of paper out to you.
You squinted at him and leaned forward to take the paper and your eyes widened at the new number he’d written in on the contract. You laughed and crumpled the paper as you stood from your chair, dropping it onto the floor and lifting your bag, “Goodbye, Mr. Styles.”
Turning and walking over the grand Persian rug that took up most of the floor you reached for the handle and when you pulled realized the door was locked. You placed your fingers over the keyhole and turned back to the smug fucker. He sat comfortably in his chair with his brows raised at you, unimpressed.
“Unlock the fucking door. This conversation is over.” You were fuming.
“And why’s that? I feel like that’s just a starting place. A negotiation if you will. Tell me why you deserve more and maybe I’ll consider it.”
“This isn’t a game. You had a perfectly fine offer that I was willing to negotiate off of but now you’re just insulting me, once again might add. I’d never work for anyone for that wage. Much less a self-absorbed man who treats women like rubbish.”
Harry folded his lips into his mouth as he tampered his grin. His cocky attitude was infuriating, “Oh please. Save the dramatics. Sit.”
You scoffed and shook your head, “No. You’re an overly egotistical moron with nothing to back it up. I will not stand for being insulted this way.”
Harry pushed himself out of his chair and began to walk toward you, “Nothing to back it up? Wrong,” he grinned as he looked around his extravagantly decorated room and back toward you, “This home is a great example of what I’ve got to show for my accomplishments. My bank accounts as well,” he slowly walked to your side and put his hand onto the heavy oak door you were standing in front of as he licked his lips and looked down at your outfit before looking directly into your eyes, “And I’m pretty sure I had you crying my name over and over again when I made you come. I’d say that’s a great reason for my inflated ego. You certainly thought I was great when I had my dick inside of you.”
You swallowed and then scowled at his nerve to bring up such a thing, “Well, like you said, I’m a bit dramatic. I was overplaying it that night because I didn’t want you to feel bad. Now open the fucking door.”
Harry’s smirk didn’t fall as he leaned in closer, “Liar. You loved it,” then he backed away, giving you enough space to breathe, “Not that you’ll ever have a chance to experience it again.”
“Like I’d want that little thing anywhere near me. Now, are you gonna open the door or do I need to call 911 for attempted kidnapping?” You dug into your bag and pulled your cell phone out.
Harry laughed and you watched in dismay as his dimples appeared. He looked too handsome to be such an asshole. He put his hands up in surrender, “Okay. Fine. We’ll go back to negotiating off the original salary plus 10%. Okay?”
You sighed. You hated that you were even considering it. The salary he was offering was too good, though. You could handle him if he kept personal matters out of your working relationship. The worst-case scenario would be that you quit and told the service about him and how he treated you (of course you’d gather evidence so no one else had to put up with his shit) and then find another job working for someone else.
You rolled your eyes and moved past him to go back to your seat.
Harry rounded the desk and sat down, putting his elbows on the desk once again, just like he’d done when you both first sat down to negotiate terms, “There we go. Money talks doesn’t it?”
Unfortunately, he was right. Money does talk.
You rolled your eyes again and looked at the back corner of his office to relieve yourself from his intense gaze.
“Less attitude, Y/n. Let’s begin, shall we?”
You suffered through an hour of going back and forth on expectations with Harry but at the end realized it wasn’t that bad. Once you both got out your frustrations at the beginning it seemed to flow smoothly after.
You even talked him into paying you 15% more, rather than just the 10%. Which you felt was a big win. Harry didn’t seem that phased by it.
He led you to what would be your room, which had your jaw dropping to the floor. It was… gorgeous. Like the rest of the house, it was grand and old but well-kept. The wide plank dark floors were covered with a light cream wool rug with small yellow, green, and blue flowers woven into the fabric. Long soft, lacy drapes hung from the ceiling and brushed against the floor over the tall windows that overlooked the massive back garden full of trees and flowers and fountains. The king-sized four-poster bed had a pale yellow, silk canopy with tiny blue birds sewn into the material. The bedspread was white silk with the same yellow and blue birds sewn in. Ornate, heavy wooden side tables, a dresser with a big vanity and silk-covered cushion sat across from the bed. An antique chandelier hung in the center of the room, high above the bed. Flowers and potted plants with green leaves rounded out the space. There were two closed doors. One led to a small closet (not a surprise it was so small for the period of the house), and the other to a fully updated, spa bathroom which… you really had to pause for a bit as you took it all in.
Harry handed you keys to the house and a fob key that would allow you in the gates that surrounded the home and told you to arrange to have your things moved in by the following day (on his tab) and that you would start work at 8am sharp.
You called Brandy the moment you drove out of the gates to tell her what had just happened.
“It’s him. It’s the asshole one-night stand. I just accepted the offer to be his assistant.”
“I’m coming over with a bottle of wine. I need details in person.”
“Brandy, I’ve got to make arrangements and get everything ready, I don’t know…” you hemmed as you drove down the road with your heart beating fast in your chest. You couldn’t believe you’d just accepted to work with Harry Styles.
“Don’t make stupid excuses with me. You can do all that with a glass of wine in your hand.”
. . .
“I see why you took the job. Damn. I’m jealous,” Brandy spoke as she stood in your bedroom doorway while you packed up things you’d need right away. Harry explained that you’d be staying at his house more often during the week than your own apartment. He ran a tight schedule and driving an hour to his house every morning didn’t sound appealing and he didn’t like to be kept waiting.
“Yeah. I was going to say no. I really was but… how can I turn down that offer? I’ve never made so much in my life and honestly? Probably never will again. I figure it’ll be like a trial run. We’ll see if he can be professional.”
You called around and found movers and arranged for them to have everything delivered to Harry’s address the following afternoon. It was still early in the day so you scheduled to have a set of your spare keys delivered by a courier by 5 pm so they could have access to your apartment the following day as you’d be gone.
You were busy the whole time Brandy was there but you were glad she was with you. You marked items you needed to have delivered and printed out a sheet of paper for a checklist for the movers.
But by the time your keys were picked up by the courier and you were halfway through the bottle of wine, you’d finally had time to sit and relax.
“You two are totally gonna fuck again,” Brandy grinned as she looked at the TV.
You scoffed and smacked her arm, “We are not. I’d never go near him again. Not after that night. I actually, fully despise him.”
“Yeah… sure. I mean… I know he was an asshole but also the way you spoke about how good he was in bed? How do you turn that down? You two are gonna practically be living together and traveling together. I don’t know… I looked him up. He’s hot, Y/n. An asshole but… we all have needs.”
Shaking your head you sipped your wine and ignored her. The thought had very very briefly crossed your mind but it was quickly pushed away because the reminder of how he treated you Friday night couldn’t be ignored. You’d never ever forget the way he made you feel so little and so disgusting.
“He literally cheated on someone while he was with me. He had a girlfriend. He fucked me as she was on her way over. Like…” you flailed your arms dramatically, “how could I possibly sleep with someone that is a cheater? I mean willingly? Now that I know?” You shook your head.
Still, Brandy didn’t seem deterred in her assumption, “Yeah… but we don’t really actually know who called him. And if it was someone he was seeing? I mean… come on. It’s not as if they were married. We can gather that much. Yeah, he’s shit for what he did but like… I don’t know,” she shrugged, “It’s not like he cheated on his wife or something.”
Brandy had always looked at things through rose-tinted glasses which was annoying. Where you were more practical and stubborn. There was no way you’d end up in his bed ever again. You didn’t know the excuse for why he kicked you out after he spoke on the phone and called someone babe. But that was beside the point. The more important factor was the way he treated you and that was simply unforgivable.
. . .
You were running late. You couldn’t believe it. Your alarm had gone off on time. You showered, ran through your quick morning routine, double-checked that all your things would be delivered to the correct address, and then you were on the road by 6:45 am. You allotted an extra 15 minutes in case of extra bad traffic.
But traffic is unpredictable.
“Hello?” Harry spoke into the receiver. You had your phone on speaker.
“Harry? Mr. Styles!” You corrected yourself, “Um… I’m stuck on the highway and it’s a bit backed up. I’m just giving you a heads up that I’ll be like…” You sighed and looked at the clock trying to make some kind of conservative estimate, “twenty minutes late?”
You heard him grunt in response and then sigh, “Fine. Please come up to my office the minute you walk in.” And then he hung up. That was it.
And of course, you half expected such a response. He gave you little indication of his opinion on you being late. You just hoped he didn’t hold it against you on your first day. It had genuinely been out of your hands. But then again, you being at the house with him on subsequent mornings would mean that being late in this way wouldn’t happen ever again.
When you parked at the front of the house you finagled your suitcase out of the backseat and lugged it up the front steps just as the door opened, “Good morning, Miss. Can I bring this to your room for you?” An older man stood with a smile as he scooped your suitcase away from you.
“Oh. Uh… Okay. Are you sure?” You followed him inside.
“Absolutely. Mr. Styles is expecting you right away.”
You swallowed and watched the man walk away as you took a breath. Your first day working for Harry Styles. Possibly also your last, depending on how everything went.
You climbed the stairs toward his study and knocked twice before pushing the door open gently.
“Come and sit.” He spoke right away. He didn’t even glance your way as he continued typing at his computer when he spoke.
You sat in the same chair you had the day previous and waited for him to finish whatever he was doing.
He cleared his throat and squinted at his computer screen, “I’m an art dealer as I mentioned yesterday. But… it’s more complicated than that sometimes. I deal in art and cultural artifacts that can sometimes be a bit…” he looked at you, “morally grey in the way they are handled. It’s rare but I do occasionally have opportunities and come across certain pieces when a collector is willing to pay an exorbitant finder’s fee for the item.”
“Morally grey. Which means illegal.” You corrected, keeping your eyes on him.
He shook his head, “No. Nothing I do is illegal. Some take issue with some of the items I procure and where they come from, but ultimately, everything I do is technically legal.”
You nodded. You didn’t know what he meant exactly. But you assumed you’d be finding out soon enough.
After Harry explained in detail your schedule from day to day, he had Lucio give you a quick tour of the parts of the house you didn’t see the day before. He even had a binder with your tentative weekly schedule, important numbers to have on hand, addresses, passcodes, a new laptop, and passwords to his login details for various online accounts. He also handed you a credit card, “You’ll make all your own arrangements as well as mine. The limit on this card will cover the cost of flights and accommodations. You and I will be traveling frequently, as I mentioned yesterday.”
Your morning was filled with short bursts of Harry giving you information and what to expect, but half of that consisted of you waiting while he spoke on the phone and typed out emails. You couldn’t imagine why an art dealer would be as busy as seemed to be. Clearly, he was making lots of money so there was no doubt that he was busy with clients. But why?
You researched the ins and outs of being an art dealer the evening before, once Brandy’s Uber arrived to take her home. The typical art dealer did not make the kind of money you knew Harry had. Most also typically worked through auctions, galleries, and museums. Harry seemed to be his own entity doing deals as an individual. So you knew he wasn’t typical in his field.
At lunchtime you were hungry. You’d eaten something small before dashing to your car that morning but that had long been digested.
“Mr. Styles?” You looked at him from your spot in your chair as you closed your new laptop.
He looked at you with an eyebrow raised.
“It’s lunchtime for me. I was hoping I could get something to eat if that’s okay? You should probably also eat. I can bring you something if you take your lunch up here.” You honestly couldn’t have cared less if he ate, but you were so used to making sure Alfred ate that asking Harry was automatic.
Harry’s brows scrunched together and he looked at his computer screen, “Hadn’t realized the time. Sure. Feel free to make something for yourself or you can ask Carl to. I’d like a vegan cassoulet.”
You stood and looked at him in confusion, “A vegan… what?”
“A vegan cassoulet,” He pronounced the word obnoxiously, “Carl will know what I want. Just tell him.”
You repeated the word to yourself. Cas ooo lay – cas ooo lay… You thought it sounded like one of those French dishes you’d never ventured to try.
In the kitchen, you found Carl right away and told him what Harry wanted.
“And what for you?” He began to pull out pans and got to work right away.
“I can manage. I think just a sandwich. Is everything here in the fridge?” You opened up the door and immediately were overwhelmed by the amount of groceries and items packaged inside. The fridge itself was state-of-the-art. Everything in the kitchen was.
Carl laughed and stepped up behind you, “You can find everything you might need in this kitchen yes. But perhaps we’ll leave the cooking to me today, just until you get used to where everything is. What kind of sandwich would you like?”
“Oh. Maybe that’s a good idea. You don’t mind?”
Shaking his head, Carl reached passed you to pull out some vegetables, “Not at all. This is what I do. How about a French bread panini? I can slice up some turkey and Swiss, load it with vegetables? Or maybe you’d prefer grilled chicken and pesto? Egg salad? Or are you vegetarian?”
You laughed and shook your head, “I’m definitely not vegetarian. And the first one sounds fine. Turkey and Swiss panini. Any veggies you put on it will be good. I just don’t like mayo.”
It was wild to be having lunch made for yourself by a professional private chef. And Harry’s cassoulet looked divine but after googling it you learned it’s usually made with various kinds of meat and that the duck confit is what makes the dish. But since his version was supposedly vegan, you couldn’t imagine it tasting anything like it was probably supposed to.
You also learned that Carl wasn’t just a personal chef. He also did all the grocery shopping.
After lunch, your belongings arrived. The movers placed everything in your new bedroom and handed you the key to your apartment before they left.
“This is it?” Harry asked standing in the doorway as he looked around at the boxes and bags you’d had delivered.
“Yeah. I don’t have much I need to keep here. You’ve got the room fully furnished. Just my clothes and essentials.” You shrugged as you opened up the box near the bed.
You could feel Harry’s eyes on you as you dug into the box and pulled out your potted Pothos plant. “What?” You looked at him as you placed the plant on the floor.
“Nothing. Um,” he scratched the back of his neck, “I think it’s a good stopping point today. We’ve got you set up on everything so you can unpack and relax. Normally our days will be longer but since it’s your first…” he put both arms down by his side and stopped fidgeting, “It’s good for today. And like I said earlier, you are free to watch TV in the main room downstairs or get anything from the kitchen you need at all. You don’t need to just stay in your room all night unless you choose to.”
You squinted at him, wondering if there was some kind of catch. He was rather pleasant, you had to admit. After you both got everything out of the way the day before things had been fine. Normal even. But you still had to keep your guard up around him. And all it took to remember who you were dealing with was what he’d done that night.
You decided against going downstairs to watch TV. Maybe you’d feel comfortable enough to do that later on but that night, it felt nice to take a long bath and listen to music and then curl up on your soft, silky bed with your laptop and Netflix.
Though you did get thirsty. And a bit hungry around 8. So you ventured down and hoped to not run into anyone.
Except of course, you ran into someone. When you entered the kitchen you saw Harry standing in front of the refrigerator looking in. Apparently, he had the same idea as you.
You cleared your throat and Harry turned to see you there, “Oh, hey.” He closed the fridge and faced you, “Need something?”
You nodded and stepped toward the pantry, “A little hungry and thirsty. Is it okay?”
“Of course it is. Help yourself to whatever. I was just about to make some pasta. Something simple. Would you like some?”
“Yeah. I can help you make it. What do we need?” You neared the fridge and opened it up, pulling out a glass pitcher of water.
Harry ran down the list of ingredients, which weren’t many, and you helped him slice garlic while he boiled the pasta and poured a can of San Marzano tomatoes into a small pot.
Everything came together quickly and you both sat at the island to eat the late-night meal together.
“Tomorrow we’ll book a trip to Vancouver. Someone has a few pieces I’d love to see in person.” Harry explained what to expect on the trip as you listened.
Then you got to talking about your parents and then college. Harry shared a little about himself but it wasn’t much. You didn’t expect that he would, but he did tell you about his mom and sister. You could tell how important they were to him just by the way he spoke. It made you feel warm toward him in a way knowing that he cared about people other than himself. Something you hadn’t been sure about as he seemed so cold.
When you were both done you tried to help him clean up, “You don’t have to do this, Y/n. I’ve got a housekeeper who will be here in the morning. Why don’t you go to bed?”
“Are you sure? Are you headed to bed?” You asked as you placed the forks into the sink.
He nodded, “Yeah. Time to call it a night.”
“Do you always go to bed this early,” you grinned as you refilled your water to bring it with you to your room.
He raised his brows, “Yeah. I get up at 4:30 in the morning to start my day so 9:30 or 10 is about when I go to bed.”
You cringed to yourself. 4:30 in the morning? That sounded like hell.
You both went your separate ways as you bid Harry good night.
. . .
You had a busy morning. You booked a trip for the following week to Vancouver for yourself and Harry. Two nights at The Four Seasons (2 separate rooms, connected), first-class airline tickets, a reservation for the 2nd evening at a nice restaurant for four people, an on-call driver for the whole visit, and set-up details with someone’s assistant named Lana for the meeting.
Harry wanted everything to be perfect so you had to work at extracting as much information from Lana as possible. At first, Lana sent you an itinerary that was rather simple and would have most people feeling good about the meeting. But Harry took one look at it and knew he needed more information. So you spent the majority of your morning speaking with the young woman and filling in details that appeared to be missing.
“This is excellent, Y/n,” Harry looked up at you as he stood from his desk. The itinerary and all the bookings were taken care of. “I’m leaving to take care of something personal. You can have the rest of the day off. Thank you.”
You felt pleased. So far, working for Harry hadn’t been all that bad. He was picky and hard to please but you could handle him. You just hoped that the momentum you two had would continue into the weeks ahead.
. . .
You met Brandy out at your favorite club. You wore a cute black dress and black booties and your black leather jacket.
“Oh damn, girl! You look good!” Brandy called to you when she spotted you through the crowd.
“I can’t stay all night! I have to work in the morning, so I stop at 2 drinks!” You spoke loudly so Brandy could hear.
Brandy’s side eye told you that your friend would be trying to get you to enjoy yourself for longer. But you couldn’t. The last thing you wanted to do was to be on Harry’s bad side and be hungover the next morning.
But, Brandy was convincing. Too convincing at times.
Four martinis in and you were painfully aware that you wouldn’t be driving back. You’d need an Uber and that kind of sucked because Harry would know when your car wasn’t there. But… since you’d already need to Uber and you were already out, you had a fifth martini and danced with Brandy and forgot all about your promise to yourself.
The night grew blurry and you couldn’t stop talking about your boss.
“He’s so put together too,” you slurred as you and Brandy leaned into one another, too drunk to dance or drink anymore.
“I know. You keep saying that. And how big his cock was,” Brandy laughed and you pushed her, causing her to stumble back dramatically so you reached out to steady her but wound up falling with her to the floor in a fit of laughter.
Yeah, you’d gotten sloppy drunk.
“I need to go,” you pushed yourself up to stand as you reached for your cell phone. You could hardly see straight, and pulling up the Uber app was simply not going to work. Instead, you called the second to last person you’d texted, Harry. You really hadn’t put much thought into it.
He answered the line and you pushed your way toward the front of the club to go outside, dragging Brandy with you, “Harry!” You howled loudly.
“Where are you?”
“I’m at Club Yega. Can you pretty please come pick me up? I’m so drunk.” Your voice was scratchy and your words were watery.
Once you got outside you repeated your question, unable to hear what Harry had responded to you.
“Okay. Just wait for me outside. Is there anyone with you?” He sounded concerned.
“Brandy is here and the security guy standing by the door,” you said matter-of-factly before hiccupping.
Harry told you he’d be there soon and Brandy wobbled into your side as she used one eyeball to call an Uber for herself.
You were unable to recall how long it took for Harry to arrive, or when Brandy had gotten into her Uber and left but when you saw him, he was standing over you with his hand out, “Up you get,” he grasped your hand and helped you stand up. You’d been sitting on the sidewalk.
“Should be more responsible,” Harry chided you as he helped you to his running car, “No one’s watching over you. Where’s this friend you had with you?”
“She was here I promise but her Uber came to get her,” you stumbled into his car and plopped down into the seat with an umph!
Harry looked back at the front door security person and nodded to him as he rounded the car and got inside.
“Harry, I’m sorry. I was going to only have 2 drinks. Swear.”
“It happens. But you should have called me sooner. Don’t like that you were sitting out there alone like that. It’s late. And we have an early day tomorrow.”
You turned to look at him as he pulled into the street and reached a hand up to the curl that covered the top of his ear, “You’re so pretty. Which is weird because you’re such a fucking dick.”
Harry shook his head and laughed to himself as he kept his eyes on the road.
“I’m serious. You’re too pretty for it to be real. Your voice even.” You croaked.
Harry glanced at you quickly, “Oh yeah?” His grin widened. He knew the alcohol was talking but he certainly didn’t mind hearing your thoughts about him while you were inebriated.
“Yeah,” you lowered your finger to his shoulder and then poked at his bicep before dropping your hand back into your lap, “Nice everything. Except you’re not actually nice are you?” You let out a garbled laugh and closed your eyes for a moment.
“Hey… Come on. You’re drunk. Just close your eyes and we’ll be home soon.”
You shook your head and looked back at him, “Bossy too. But it sucks because it was so good that night. God I still think about it… and then I remember how you kicked me out like I was filthy. That was mean. Hurt my feelings.”
Harry sighed and stayed quiet. He was not going to engage in this kind of conversation with you while you were drunk. He was sure you wouldn’t remember any of it anyway.
But you didn’t stop there, “I wish I could stop thinking about it, though. S’not fair.”
Harry kept his eyes on the road and listened.
“The way you sounded when you were coming. I keep hearing it,” you squeezed your thighs together and looked out the window with a soft sigh. “Never had it like that before. But fuck you.”
Harry swallowed and blinked his eyes. He was a little surprised by your drunk confession. He liked that you thought fondly of some aspects of that night. Clearly you had enjoyed the sex. But to hear you saying how your feelings were hurt and that you were still angry about it all?
He looked over at you and down to your thigh where your dress had ridden up quickly before looking back at the road. He still refused to engage in this. You were drunk. Very much so.
“And your hands, Harry…” you reached over to brush your fingers over the back of his hand that was gripped on the steering wheel, “Oh god…” you breathed your words, “Your fingers. How good you are with them,” you bit your lip and leaned your head back into the leather seat and closed your eyes. “But still fuck you.”
When you were silent for a few minutes Harry looked over at you and noticed you were asleep.
He was glad you’d stopped staying the things you were. Your words had him confused. You were going from hot to cold fast. But he knew you wouldn’t ever reveal such things to him if you hadn’t been so far gone.
Waking you up gently, he put his arms under yours to help you out of his car, “We’re home, Y/n. Let’s get you up to bed.”
You were able to use your legs, but things were spinning. You clung tightly to Harry as he slowly brought you upstairs to your room.
When your bottom hit your mattress you laid back and sighed, “I might throw up,” you said.
Harry laughed quietly and shook his head as he helped you out of your shoes. He knelt down and unzipped the leather to pull each one off. He didn’t intend to let his eyes wander over your legs and your thighs, but your dress had gotten bunched up so he could practically see your panties. And then they were fully on view when you scooted yourself into your bed further.
Harry leaned over you and pulled your blankets up over your body, “I’ll be right back with water.”
He couldn’t believe how adorable he thought you were. Even though you were still angry at him over what he’d done he liked the sass a little. He was definitely attracted to you. There was no doubt in his mind about that. He tried not thinking about that night with you but after you’d brought it up he couldn’t help himself but to indulge in thoughts of the way you felt and how wet you got for him. Your body, your voice… You were good with your hands too, he smiled remembering your comment about how you liked his hands. But of course, the smile fell from his face when he remembered how the night ended. How shitty he’d been. But now things were too complicated and he wasn’t sure that any kind of apology would ever be enough.
When he got back to your room you were asleep. Out cold. He placed the water on your nightstand and brushed his fingers along your forehead. You were cute.
He plugged in your cell phone and smiled at your sleeping face.
“Good night, pretty girl,” he whispered as he turned off the lamp next to you before leaving the room and closing the door behind himself.

The fact that this is one of the room options.
Link really is the kind of guy to spend loads of Rupees and like 50 trees worth of lumber he chopped down himself on a house, then as soon as possible he gets his girlfriend to move in with him, and she kinda takes over the place with redecorating AND she has her own little private sanctum in the damp well out back because she needs her privacy I guess. Stuff happens, Link gets the opportunity to get a second house, he pours loads of Rupees into THAT (and in the messed up post-Upheaval economy too)... and then this is a room option.
You know he's never gonna use it. It feels totally out of place among all the other choices. And Hudson's is a custom home builder, that lets you design rooms, layout, the whole thing. They're at least suggesting stuff he's asking about.
That's what I'm saying: he asked for it. This absolute diamond of a man buying a second home that you'd think would be 100% Just For Him this time asks "can I get a quiet private study room? So that when she moves back in, she doesn't have to go in a dark damp well any more?"
This is our hero, ladies and gentlemen. Triforce of Courage? More like Triforce of Complete Selflessness.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part6 Part 7 Part 9
The clouds wandered on, a lonely wanderer travelling across oceans and meadows, hills and rugged mountains painted in snow. White greyed, darkened and blackened, turned into pure doom, darker than black. The wind howled, screamed and screeched and the branches, crooked fingers, waltzed in all directions.
Silence blanketed the car driving down the path bordered by fields and trees, but it was not unpleasant, cruel, forcing nonsense to fall to shatter it. Shocked, Y/N noticed with widened eyes they had arrived at the open gates of the estate she called her home. At a rapid pace, the car drove on and on, past other parked cars and parked between them in different shades of the deep ocean. The motor wasn't roaring, turned off and the chanting of the birds sitting in one line on the lowest branch invaded the car smelling of alcohol, petrol and leather. The wind knocked on the automobile. Polly gulped, turned and rested her hand graced by a golden ring cautiously, almost shyly, on Y/N´s lap, but the shivering and shaking woman painted in blue and red, lightened by streaks of purple, did not flinch nor speak her mind. Carefully Polly´s fingers slid across Y/N´s calf and pulled the thick fabric higher to hide the exposed skin. Polly pronounced her name and pulled Y/N out of the dark and dreary thoughts, summoning goosebumps all over her flesh.
"Thomas is fine. He knows what he's doing. Nothing will happen to him." Polly assured calmly, guessing the reason for the fear in the widened eyes and sweaty palms.
Faintly Y/N smiled.
"I know, but I'm worried about him. About Poppy. There was blood, too much blood. I thought it was the new wallpaper she had told me about. They, she and her mother, redecorated the house. The pattern, it looked like flowers, large and smaller dots." she replied.
Exhaling, Y/N closed her eyes veiled by tears once fixed on the distance, watching the sun, the rays breaking through the travelling clouds heralding a day full of terror.
"I'm sure your friend is fine, too. Thomas will take care of her." the woman continued with a gentle, encouraging smile on her features, kissed by the orange rays.
Polly cleared her throat. The smile fainted, and the wrinkles deepened. She didn't need to search for the right words, had already pictured during the ride what she would say to Y/N if their paths should cross, but all Polly wanted to say had dissolved, had lost its meaning.
"We're home Y/N/N. Ada is waiting, but before we go inside, I want you to know that we are sorry. We have not been good to you, to put it nicely. Please forgive us and I speak on behalf of the whole family. John was the one who opened the door for your friend. After we realised what had happened, we were looking for you. I hope you will give us a second chance even if we don't deserve one. We will understand if you want to leave. We won't hate you for your decision." Polly continued and squeezed Y/N´s hand.
Y/N turned, ignoring the nearly unignorable pain trying to elicit a hiss from her, and turned to face Polly. She wanted to start a sentence; lips parted, but no tone escaped the sore throat. Y/N stared past Polly towards the door, flying back and forth in the fresh morning breeze. Ada ran towards the car as if chased by a ghost, had left the door wide open, ran on tiptoes and hissed and cursed like a witch as the stones dug deep into the soles of her reddening feet. The hem of the dress danced in the breeze. Gasping for air, Ada spread the large checked blanket, usually resting on the floor next to the sofa. The wind painted her cheeks vibrant red, lighter than her evening gown.
"Come, Y/N/N, we will protect you." Polly assured in a calm, slightly quivering voice, but Y/N heard no falseness, no lie in it.
Y/N could not utter a reply. The air, hinting of winter, invaded the car. The women shivered and balled the hands into fists. Ada hushed a greeting, spread the blanket, glanced at the wounds gracing Y/N´s body, down on the battered feet and the shivering limbs. The pain in her chest deepened at the sight of the shadow of a woman, read in her eyes what she had been through. The lip was chapped. The traces of a fight were evident on her cheek and throat. Ada tossed the blanket over her shoulder, noticing Y/N was covered in one. Wordlessly Ada helped Y/N out of the car. Soft curses blurred with whimpers. Whispering soothing words, Ada pulled Y/N away, closer to the house, kicking the door of the automobile shut and gesturing for Polly to pursue.
"I've prepared a bath for you. I'll help you upstairs. If you don't want to bathe, I can put a bucket of water next to the sofa. You can at least warm your feet." Ada said.
With every step, every slight movement Y/N made, the once brilliant white material slipped and revealed more wounds, swellings, and darkening spots not fading in the golden tide of the sun's rays, but grew even darker. Blue turned to green, lit by purple flashes and red veins carrying blue blood. Patiently Ada waited, and stared back at Polly, walking hastily after the women.
"Thank you. I think the bucket will do. Maybe I'll get in the tub later." Y/N replied meekly, as if speaking to her mother, fearing the answer would enrage her, but none of what she expected happened.
The chilly breeze blew through Y/N´s hair one last time. The door slammed shut, and the keys jingled, chanted a song that faded quickly. All doors were closed and locked. Curtains touched. The first aid box, not battered, holey neither with a worn handle nor dented corners, rested open on the table. Scissors, and spotless bandages lay next to bottles of high-proof alcohol, freshly washed not dried glasses, cigarettes and silver needles drowning in alcohol. Blankets covered the sofa, to which Ada led Y/N and a down pillow. The white porcelain bowl graced by blue vines and flowers was in the middle of the crowded table. Smoke rose from the cup, sweet lavender, and banished the unmistakable stench of blood and gore.
"May I offer you some soup?" the question was unnecessary, asked out of politeness.
Y/N turned into a tree, rooted deep into the ground, not moving. Her arms swayed forward. Questioningly, the two Shelby's exchanged glances, searching for the reason for the fear in Y/N´s eyes, unable to find it, but then, after a moment that seemed not to pass, Ada took a step forward, let go of Y/N, took the polished pistol and hid it under the table, still handy but out of Y/N´s sight. Polly placed her hands down on Y/N's shoulders, trying not to cause her any more pain, let the blanket slide to the floor and carefully pressed the young woman down on the sofa. Ada wriggled back towards them, took the blanket still hanging over her shoulder and laid it down on Y/N's legs, covering them, reached for the pair of fluffy socks, wiped away the dirt, small stones, dust and dried mud, and put the socks on Y/N´s feet.
"It's okay." Ada breathed before Y/N could protest.
Smiling, Ada looked up, wiped her hands on her long dress, picked up the bowl filled with soup and placed it carefully in Y/N's lap, handing her the silver spoon.
"Here, Y/N/N, eat. I'll fill you a bucket with warm water in the meantime. Polly will keep you company. If you need anything, if you feel sick, all you have to do is tell us and we will help you. You are still in shock." Ada said in a calm voice.
Gulping, Ada crouched next to Y/N.
"We should have taken you into our family. I am sorry, we are all very sorry. It's understandable that you don't want to see us, you have enough reasons to hate us. The only thing I can do is to promise that we will do better. If you need time, I have a friend. She owns a small cottage a few miles away from town. There is a pond and a small forest. It's lovely. I could arrange that you could spend a few days or weeks there." Ada continued.
Y/N merely nodded, unsure of what to say, not knowing how to respond, and kept on smiling. The two women watched Ada as she rose from the ground like a phoenix from the ashes and strode away. Polly leaned closer to Y/N, tidied the blanket and hinted that she should eat, that it would do her good. A soft thanks escaped Y/N, smiled at the women who wordlessly indicated that she should finally start eating and so Y/N did, dipping the silver cutlery into the depths of the bowl whose end she could not see, watching the thinly chopped vegetables slip from the spoon and as the warm liquid flowed down her throat, Y/N realised how hungry she was and ate greedily.
Time had lost its meaning. Y/N had emptied the contents of the bowl. The last piece of sliced carrots had disappeared, yet she did not place it on the table, continued to warm her fingers on the ceramic bowl.
Heels clicked against the dark wood, had put shoes a hue darker than the evening dress. Cautiously, Ada continued walking with her eyes fixed on the troubled waters, fearing the warm liquid was about to spill over the golden rim. A towel, white with a few washed-out stains, hung over her right shoulder, the towel she always used when a brother standing on the edge of the world was carried inside the house. The floorboards groaned, and Ada stopped and noticed Y/N had finished the soup she had cooked for her.
Out of the corner of her eye Polly noticed how Y/N´s eyes were growing heavy and she leaned forward, took the bowl and placed it on the table. The young woman wanted to protest as Polly told her to rest, to say that she had to stay awake, that she wanted to wait for the return of the brothers and her husband.
"No, Y/N, lay down. You can stay with us or you can go to the bedroom. We will keep watch and if you need anything, you can call us.", "Polly, we should take care of Y/N's wounds first." Ada interjected.
"That won't be necessary. That can wait. Alfie has taken care of her wounds it's just dirt and scratches. The wounds are not life threatening. Y/N rest, close your eyes. I promise I will wake you up if Thomas is home." she replied.
Carefully Polly pushed Y/N backwards. Her heavy, throbbing head sunk into the pillow. Closing her eyes, Y/N sighed in relief, exhaled as the blanket fell down on her body. Birds chirped, the howling ceased and lulled her to sleep.
Polly leaned forward happily and noticed Y/N had fallen asleep.
"Thomas told me that Alfie has taken care of Y/N. No deep wounds or else I would have taken her to the hospital. We can take care of it later." Polly reported.
Ada rose, set the bowl aside on the table, sighed deeply, nodded, listened to the woman and turned to the fireplace, the blazing flames feasting on the wood and fed by the howling air hinting of winter.
"She was beaten up. I didn't see any bullet wounds. Did Thomas tell you what happened or who is to blame?", "He has a guess, but he couldn't tell me anything specific. It all happened too fast. The gang has Y/N's girlfriend in their grip. At least that's what he thinks. The house was trashed, destroyed, and I think I saw bloodstains on the floor." she breathed softly.
Her eyes kept sliding to the slumbering figure, kept glancing at her right side and noticing with relief that Y/N was still asleep, her eyelids neither twitching nor her lips twisting into a pained grimace.
"Alfie's going to show up any minute. Thomas called him. He fears someone might pay us a visit." Polly whispered in Ada's direction.
Ada perked up, grinned, felt the weight of her weapon at her side, settled down in front of the blazing flames, gnawing on wood and fed by air on the armchair, threw the pillow to the floor on her side and crossed her arms in front of her body.
“We don’t need someone to protect us.” Ada stopped.
A soft knock silenced Ada. The women exchanged glances. The rustling, and shuffling of shoes and feet, softly uttered words, the closing of the door and the jingling of keys followed by low grumbles couldn’t awake Y/N from her deep slumber, lying on the sofa, a princess in the shadow of the vigilant dragons.

gem and the scott's band au in my brain rent free
Just them being not in a death game being a local band is so yippie. All the members just live in one town and all know each other and get up to shenanigans.
Gem came back to town after a couple years and immediately grabbed Scott and Impulse to start a band. Everyone was so excited for her to be back but she was just hyped to have freetime and be creative.
"are you gonna start unpackin-"
"GRAB YOUR GUITAR SCOTT I FINALLY WROTE A SONG."
"i have a shift Gem-"
"TELL LIZZIE THE CATS WILL LIVE WITHOUT YOU FOR ONE DAY"
Impulse just sitting at home when At Any Given Moment A Wild Gem May Appear. She might just, teleport and whisk him away for "mandatory super important band practice" and Skizz just gives them a thumbs up and a grin before going back to his coffee.
Scott making connections except he knows *literally everyone*. He is welcome in anyone's house for dinner and will show up with a gift and some gossip before disappearing into the night. Half the men in town are his ex, but simultaneously his bestie. Scott being involved in every event:
need live music? his band has got it!
redecorating? he can help move furniture AND he has the *perfect* rug to go with your new wallpaper
the theatre needs costumes but doesn't have the funds? done. he has a sewing machine
someone wants to host a party? he will send out the invites and make sure the catering is sorted
Scott being that reliable guy you can always lean on. :DD
Gem bringing Scott and Impulse over to her garage to rehearse and her neighbour's, the roommates, cheering at them from a window. Cleo is sending live pic updates on the three G's groupchat so Pearl can see aswell. Grian half-heartedly telling them they are too loud. Etho humming along as he cooks dinner that they will probably share with the band later anyway.
Lizzie has a cat cafe and everyone loves hanging out with her but are also slightly intimidated - there is no *proof* she is anything but an upstanding citizen... yet
Her cafe is *the hangout spot* and the walls are adorned with paintings the townsfolk did of the cats, she makes limited time specials when someone brings her a new ingredient, if anyone is having a tough time she forces them into a chair with a hot chocolate and a cat.
Joel is bragging about his epic wife at Mounder's HQ™ (a random old building that they don't think anyone owns, hopefully) while Bdubs is raging at a monopoly game, as Mumbo and Pearl try to actually hold a business meeting.
Joel swears he hates Scott but also has all the bands merch and shows up to every concert. He can be found walking around the town playing Pokemon Go atleast once a week.
Pearl somehow got added to the band groupchat and just,,, never left. (Her and Gem spam it with memes at 3am) She probably should be banned from atleast one establishment for silly-lil-guy-ing too close to the sun.
The whole town is 100% committed to telling Bdubs he is short, Not A Single Person will tell him he is not. They have official town photos where someone photoshopped him shorter.
Mumbo has a (not so) secret bunker to do science in but people just come into it and yap at him while he is revolutionising the towns power source. They do feed him, so he hasn't locked them out yet.
The heart foundation is always holding events, fundraisers, bake sales, etc. Everyone loves them and when they open auditions for a theatre production in the community building, EVERYONE shows up either to participate or just support. Lizzie and Bigb are giving out snacks whilst asking minutely creepy questions. Martyn is pleading with Ren to move back so they can be in the show together.
Martyn and Jimmy do something??? No one can figure out what it is but they have Good Vibes so they let it slide. They get a bit too silly every once in a while and someone (usually Grian) has to put them in their place.
They host DnD or Improv sessions in the community building while a threatre production isn't on.
Scar is like the local cryptid who everyone is talking about when they "know a guy". He is liable to show up to events an hour late with a tale and tub of cookies. Scar is mostly friendly but a little unpredictable, if you want a strange adventure, show up to his door with something shiny and you will be on your way.
I could yap about this au for ever they make me so unwell. Might draw all of their designs but idk yet. Anyway wildlife session 5 tmr yay :DDD

Can I request an imagine with either hotch or spencer where reader either works a lot or is in over her head in college? I’m working 7 days a week right now and I could really use some criminal minds boys to comfort me
Hii lovely, ty for this request. I hope this is okay and that you take some time for yourself🥰warnings: angsty, fluff, pet names, mention of dinner? (1k)
Your work is tough and lately, it has been killing you. But for the last few days it's been a literal hell. You've gotten insane amount of work to get done and you didn't even know where to start.
You can't even stay at work longer, because you need to pick up Jack from school, since Aaron has been gone the whole week too. So your only option has been to take the work with you home.
Which you do even today. A big pile of papers is sitting on the table, waiting for you as you prepare the dinner. It's Friday night, so you stay up with Jack to watch a movie after the dinner. You snuggle on the couch until he can no longer keep his eyes open and move him to his bed.
And then you take the haunting pile of papers on the couch with a sigh. Aaron let you know, that he should be home late at night, so you want to get the work done before he arrives.
You somehow underestimated how much work you've actually taken home with you, because you are not even halfway through it, when you hear the door open.
You get up immediately and go greet Aaron with a tired smile. You hug him, giving him no time to react any other way, his only choice is to hug you back.
"Hi," you murmur into his chest, you didn't even realise how much more you missed him then usual until now.
"Hi, sweetheart," he says softly, his voice equally as exhausted as yours," what are doing up?"
"I was waiting for you," you say even if the answer is only half true. Aaron starts to slowly move towards the living room.
"You shouldn't have, it's almost 2 am-" he suddenly stops talking, he goes very still.
You look up at him and follow his gaze. His eyes are wide, but yours are way wider. The big mess of papers is spread all over the couch and the table. It has you embarrassed, cheeks going red.
"What's all this?" he blurts out, but it isn't an unkind question. There's concern all over his face. "Have you and Jack decided to redecorate our living room?" he tries to lighten the mood, when he sees you. You look at the papers in horror.
"I'm sorry," you say quietly and hurry to clean up the mess.
You are stressing over this small thing so much and it has Aaron very worried for you.
He stops your frantic cleaning by cupping your hands in his, "honey...,"he says, "what's wrong, huh? Tell me?" He pleads, his soft eyes on you. He needs to know why you are so anxious right now and he needs to find out how to fix it. Because he can't have his best girl feeling down.
You sigh, before answering," it's just...a lot now. I've got so much work that-that I don't even know what to do first," you voice is thick with frustration and unspilled tears, all the tension from the week coming to the surface," I've bringing the work home, too, working after Jack's gone to sleep. But it's still not enough, it just keep piling and piling. And today, I wanted to get it done before you came."
"W-which as you see I didn't," you sniffle a little, "I'm sorry."
"Don't be sorry, sweetheart," Aaron says quickly, " what is going on at the work? Why the hell do you have this much work suddenly?"
Hotch hates too see you this upset over work, he knows, that your work sucks, but it has never been this bed.
"I-I don't really know. I think, it's b-because a few people recently quit the job," you don't need to explain any further, you both know, it's because the work is a lot, even too much sometimes. " So most of us have more work. The boss even asked me to come in tomorrow."
You frown. And Hotch takes one look at you and knows, there's no way you'll be going to work tomorrow. You look like you have slept less than Aaron this week, which already says a lot, because Aaron barely slept at all.
"Why don't you go to the bedroom and change into something more comfy, we can put a movie on?" he suggests as he gently maneuvers you towards the bedroom.
You want to protest, but he doesn't let you, "you are clearly tired and overwhelmed, honey. You need to take a break or else you can get hurt," he gives you a serious look, it's a look that he sometimes uses to tell off Jack, stern but affectionate.
"How about we both take the weekend off too, hmm?" he asks.
"They won't let me-"
"Whatever, you'll call in sick," he says it so casually.
"B-but I can't, they could fire me," you try to reason.
"Then maybe you should quit, we both know, it's been on your mind for quite some time, sweetheart," if it was up to him, you wouldn't have to work at all, he earns enough money for the three of you. But he knows, you would never let him do that.
"Yes, but I don't know..." you would love to quit immediately, but where would you go? It's not that easy to find another job.
"I understand," he nods and he warmly strokes your cheeks, wiping away a few tears that escaped your eyes," we'll talk about it tomorrow, yeah?"
You nod and he kisses your temple tenderly, he ushers you away with the promise of being right behind you.
He cleans up the papers and hides them out of the sight, like one would with something very tempting.
And as he promised, he is in the bed, pulling you into his embrace in a matter of seconds. He keeps you in a tight hug, his big hands running up and down your back as the movie plays in the background.
But neither of you pay attention to it. Hotch is too busy with doting and loving on you, while you are too busy blushing and trying not to cry over how sweet and caring Aaron is.
It's safe to say, that you definitely won't be leaving Aaron's arms in the morning to go to work. Especially when Jack will be for 100 percent joining your cuddling session in the morning.

Valentine's Day HCs - Ashe, Brigitte, D.VA, Kiriko, Mercy, Widowmaker
Includes: Ashe, Brigitte, D.Va, Kiriko, Mercy and Widowmaker
Summary: what your OW gf would do for you for Valentine's day
CW: gn! reader, fluff, just some cutesy hcs of what your OW s/o would do for Valentine's, some allusion to the lore
pt2 of my valentine's day content for you guys! i was up til 3 trying to finish these but kinda gave up ngl and went to bed but i mostly finished up!
OW Men Ver. + Valentine's 2023 Masterlist
————
Ashe:
acts like she’s Too Cool™️ for Valentine’s Day
but on the inside she’s secretly making a big deal of it cause all she really wants is to make you happy and show how much she loves you!!
definitely gets Bob’s help to get everything and set it all up
she’s so nonchalant about it that you’re shocked when she shows up at your place with a bouquet of flowers
“get your jacket, I got somethin to show you.”
you reluctantly follow her out, pleasantly surprised that she came through for you
she takes you back to her place where her and Bob have practically completely redecorated
there’s sweet smelling candles lining every flat surface, rose petals across the floor and hearts hanging from the ceiling
waiting for the two of you at the coffee table are dishes of all your favorite snacks
she definitely had Bob make you chocolate covered strawberries
she feeds them to you too with this cute little blush across her cheeks and nose
also there’s champagne
fruity bubbly pink champagne that she seems to have endless bottles of
and when you’re all warm and giggly and drunk, cuddled up in her arms, she lets her tough exterior drop
“oh sweet pea, i think you’re gonna be the death of me”
Brig:
she’s so nervous!!!
like she really wants this to go good and show you how much she appreciates you, but she doesn’t really know how
probably makes the mistake of asking her dad and Reinhardt for advice
and after Reinhardt suggests “a really big hammer” she decides to go her own way with it
spends days tinkering in her workshop to make something for you
of course Mitzi is purring and rolling all over her tools while she’s trying to build
accidentally ignored you because she’s so caught up in her work
she finishes it just in time for Valentine’s Day
you plan on surprising her for Valentines so you’re surprised when she shows up with a little box for you
she’s practically vibrating while she waits for you to open it
when you do, you see it’s metal figurines of the two of you on your first date
the sheer amount of detail in it makes you gasp
there’s a plaque on the front that says “The Moment I Knew I Loved You”
you look up at her with big teary eyes and throw your arms around her
she hugs you super tightly
“so you like it, right? Cause I was worried it was too much or not enough and I just—I really wanted this to go good for us.”
DVA:
she’s such a dork she probably plans out this whole day for the two of you together
she’s kinda nervous taking you out in case she gets mobbed by paparazzi
but she really wants to show you a good time so she sets her fear aside
takes you to the shops downtown to get cute matching pyjamas for your sleepover tonight
you guys stop to get hotteoks for a snack too!!
they’re one of her favorite snacks so you treat her to one
then you guys head to the grocery store to pick up some snacks and drinks for the night
queue Hana stocking up on Mountain Dew (but she gets the Spark kind to fit into the Valentine’s Day theme)
you guys get home and build a little pillow and blanket Fort on the floor with all your snacks and stuff
Hana turns on her console and the two of you end up playing games together
definitely some sort of cutesy two player game where you guys can work as a team
and even if you make mistakes, Hana just kisses your cheek and carries you through
“so, how was this for Valentine’s Day? Did I win?”
Kiriko:
she is definitely the type to want to do something for Valentine’s
but gets so busy with work and crime fighting that she just forgets
so she plans a date for the two of you at the last minute
gets you a box of gourmet donuts from her favorite shop and heads over to your house on her bike
she was kinda nervous to ask you to be her Valentine cause she’s never really had one
plus she’s worried what she’s planned won’t be enough
but all of that melts away when she picks you up and sees your smile at the cute little fox donuts she gives you
she doesn’t let on what she has planned, but she has her bike waiting outside with an extra helmet for you
she actually takes you all the way across town to a karaoke/ramen bar!
they’re doing a Valentine’s Special for karaoke where its duets only, and it only takes a second of your girlfriend making puppy dog eyes at you to get you up on the stage
she surprises you by choosing one of your favorite duet songs and having near perfect choreography
her dancing and singing is just so fun and cute that it’s infectious and you start trying to dance with her
even if you stumble a bit she still thinks its adorable
also everyone in the restaurant loves you guys
after that, you guys have a few drinks and some yummy ramen before she surprises you with a promise ring
its just a simple silver band with a blue jewel (like the colour of her fox) engraved into it
“I know it’s not much…but I wanted you to always have a piece of me with you. I have the fox spirit to guide me, so I thought maybe you could have something to guide you.”
Mercy:
she’s a busy, busy woman, but she’ll fight to have time off so she can spend it with you
very traditional as far as her dates go, but that doesn’t mean boring by any means
she’s super organized too, so she’ll plan everything ahead of time to make sure it all goes off without a hitch
definitely splurges and gets you a box of super yummy Swiss chocolates
I feel like she would definitely get you some sort of jewellery too, like a necklace with wings or something
she has a dinner reservation at a super romantic, intimate restaurant
she leaves you a cute little gift bag on your bed for when you get home, and its just a super nice outfit for you to wear out
you’re super excited for what she has planned, and that only gets better when she comes to pick you up
she’s wearing a silky black slip dress and heals, dressed to the absolute nines
honestly she looks good enough to eat
you guys take a cab to the restaurant so you can thoroughly enjoy it and actually drink
Angela picks out a delicious red wine for the two of you to share over dinner
she definitely holds your hand across the table and runs her thumbs over them
the food is amazing and you guys have just a little too much wine over dinner
Angela holds her alcohol well though and manages to tough it out until you get home
she wanted to surprise you with gifts, but didn’t want to do it in public so she could actually enjoy your reaction to them
probably the one night of the year she lets herself get a little more kinky in bed too lol
“How was it, darling? I wanted to give you a date you deserve.”
Widowmaker:
she hasn’t celebrated a single Valentine’s Day since before Gerard died
he was the only person she ever had any desire to celebrate with, and because of what Talon did to her, she never had a chance again
until she meets you of course
she probably doesn’t celebrate it with you until you’ve been together for a while either
but when she’s ready, she wants to go all out
she makes reservations at the best restaurant in France (and spares no expense)
she picks you up in a limo, the back filled with candy hearts and kisses, with a fridge stocked with rosé and champagne
she pours you a glass when you get in, her eyes taking you in
“you look stunning, my love.”
by the time you get to the restaurant, you’re a little tipsy and completely flustered
she orders for you, getting you her favorite dish (and it’s quite possibly the most delicious thing you’ve had in your whole life)
she definitely splits dessert with you too
she feeds you little spoonfuls
takes you back to her place for the night and shows you her favorite movie as a girl
“thank you for tonight, mon amour. you are the warmth of my life.”

Shepard-Vakarian Love Nest
garrus vakarian x fem shepard
summary: garrus installs a security system while shepard redecorates
a/n: finished me3 and immediately replayed the whole thing again with slightly different choices,,, i'm obsessed and I need to cope with the heartache of leaving garrus behind to save the universe xoxo space jesus </3
tags: fluff to cope with the ending of me3, flirting, established relationship, shepard instead of y/n, colonist background shepardf if you squint
ao3 version
"garrus this feels a little... overkill."
"that's the point shepard, to overkill anyone who tries to break in."
shepard rolled her eyes playfully and looked around the apartment with her arms crossed. there were sensors on every window and door in the sizable apartment. she managed to talk him down from installing explosives inside, convincing him that it would be way too much paperwork and too much of a risk if she accidentally set them off herself. however, she had to give her boyfriend credit where credit was due, it did make her feel safer. especially since he installed thicker bullet-proof window panes and rolling steel covers for emergencies.
while he was working on making shepard's home safer, she was busy with making andserson's former apartment into her own. she wanted to make it less of a bachelor pad and more of a proper place where she and garrus could hang their hats at the end of the day.
while it was originally supposed to be a getaway just for her, it was too quiet for her taste, and more often than not she has the current and former crew of the normandy over whenever she could.
but for now, it was just the two of them.
she was comparing the current wood of the kitchen cabinets to a new red sample that she picked up. it felt a little silly to be concerned about the colors of the apartment while there were reapers destroying planets, but everyone needed a break now and then. this might be the last shore leave she would ever have. it was somewhat morbid to think about, the last time she had shore leave it was forced on her after she defended elysium despite all odds.
while she was lost in thought, garrus snuck up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder, "hmm i like the red, but a darker burgundy would look better."
shepard hummed and leaned her cheek against his, "i think that would look nice, you have quite the eye vakarian."
"i'm aware. you know i have great taste. especially in partners," he purred into her ear and nipped softly at her neck.
shepard chuckled and turned around in his arms, lacing her hands behind his neck, "that i'll have to agree with you on." she slowly unlaced her fingers and ran her hands down the front of his chest armor, looking up into his gorgeous cobalt eyes, "so, did you find the best vantage point to shoot intruders from?"
garrus chuckled and scratched the back of his neck, suddenly looking very sheepish. if turians could blush, he would be bright red. "there are quite a few adequate spots, however, i'll wait until you're done fully redecorating to make the spots permanent."
"'ppreciate that honey," she smiled and stood on her tip toes, pressing a chaste kiss on his cheek plate.
shepard walked over to her personal computer and ordered the new redwood for the kitchen, along with new paint for the walls. all the white walls were so boring, customizing this place as her own home gave her hope, something that she could look forward to coming back to. having someone with her to share it with made it all the better, giving her hope for the future and something to look forward to once this was all over.
even if he does insist that they need the latest security systems that he personally has to inspect and install, not trusting anyone else to do it right.
of course, she also wanted garrus to add in his own decorations; pictures of his homeworld and family, traditional turian art pieces, etc. shepard was even planning to convert one of the empty bedrooms into a painting studio for him.
maybe one day they would fill it with human-turian babies, or a bunch of krogan, depending one how things went.

What Tieflings Do Chpt. 3
Summary: After the takedown of The Absolute, Zelphie finds her city in need of more help and her home destroyed. She won't stop helping, but who can help her?
Rolan x Tav (Zelphie; ~30y.o AFAB, Sorcerer, Tiefling, not really described physically on purpose <3)
M/F
Author's Note: I fucking love tielfings. Along with this being a budding romance/smut/fluff/word vomit fanfiction, it's also my case study in DnD 5e tieflings, how they act, what sets them apart from humans and devils and elves. That being said, I have a few artistic liberties in here as well where I couldn't find a straight answer, if you'll amuse me.
Warnings - Spoilers for Baldur's Gate 3, alcohol consumption. This bad Larry is another fluff. Don't worry! Also, if you catch the easter egg in this one I'll give you one lil forehead smooch.
Chapter One Chapter Two
One tenday spent in the luxurious wizard’s tower in Baldur’s Gate. The shop was still a little chaotic, but it was open for business and Rolan was hiring out for help. He had Cal and Lia and Zelphie, of course, but Cal and Lia and Zelphie were not learned spellcasters. Zelphie had the best understanding of the Weave, but she couldn’t understand conjuring the Weave manually. Rolan would attempt to spend time with her, teaching her how to read scrolls and tomes, but she was absolutely useless. And during their private lessons, Zelphie was usually very distracted with her strongly budding feelings for her teacher. That absolutely destroyed her concentration. Nothing had yet happened down that road, and it had almost been too long for Zelphie to feel comfortable bringing it up. She left the siblings that day to head out into the city. She had a few things to sell and was in the market for a redecoration for her room. Larroakan’s taste was high class but cold and dark. The room was beautiful, but it needed more love. She hadn’t done anything about it until then as she still had a gnawing feeling in the back of her mind that she wasn’t to stay with the siblings. She would get an occupation of her own and allow the family to be one again. It didn’t seem like that was going to happen. Lia would scold her if she ever brought it up.
Old potions and elixirs and small trinkets she had picked up on the road were sold quickly for decent coin. Anything she had that was impressive she donated to Sorcerer’s Sundries to either use or sell. Rolan fought with her on that, but she insisted it being a complimentary rent for now. Rolan still fought with her.
The streets were still a mess, but a livable one. People were back to life a little. It wasn’t normal, but it wasn’t apocalyptic. After a decent amount of shopping and many compliments from people who recognized her on the street, she headed for some lunch. She hadn’t seen any of the other tieflings since the battle, and she was very ready to see some happy and familiar faces. Lakrissa, an absolute menace of a thief, had gotten a job at The Elfsong Tavern, the nicest spot in the whole city for a pint and relaxation. Zelphie was very excited to see if her friend was there today, and if she had time for a drink. Walking past two hired hands at the entrance, she was met with the most people she had seen at the tavern. Good, she didn’t want any more compliments, she just wanted to be a normal patron. As she made her way to the bar, to order from the barkeeper, Alan, Zelphie stopped as she heard her name shouted.
‘Zelphie! The beautiful hellspawn who saved Baldur’s Gate!’ Lakrissa, the little shit. Zelphie’s nose scrunched as attention in the tavern fell on her. She turned her head to see Lakrissa sitting on a patron’s lap of all places and she was looking right at her, her arm raised in the air. Zelphie got a cheer and shook her head, staring at Lakrissa. ‘The person who buys our hero her first round wins also buying a round for me!’ She announced to roaring laughter. Lakrissa hopped off her perch and walked over to Zelphie. ‘There you are, hero,’ she said and Zelphie sighed.
‘Here I am, thank you for the announcement, pity, you used to be my favorite,’ she said and took an empty seat at the bar. Lakrissa laughed at her. Alan walked over with a glass full of ice and an amber liquid. ‘Hello Alan,’ she greeted the bartender and she gave her a charming smile.
‘Where’ve you been then? I need you to find me that Minsc fellow. Rented a room here after you all left and started fighting for coin in there. He owes me,’ he said and Zelphie laughed.
‘I wish I could say I bear responsibility for Minsc, but I’ll do my best to settle his debt,’ she said and smirked.
‘So, how IS your favorite, hm? Heard you got a room at the wizard’s tower,’ Lakrissa said, sitting next to Zelphie. Zelphie turned back to Lakrissa.
‘I got very lucky, Lia caught me while I was wandering the streets like a tom cat. I could barely stand. My place was absolutely decimated, I’m surprised the tavern is still around,’ she said and took a sip of her drink. Rum. She hissed and looked up at Alan. ‘It’s barely after breakfast,’ she said and Alan just grinned.
‘You are very welcome,’ he said and walked off to help another patron.
‘Come on, tell me, tell me,’ Lakrissa said and shook Zelphie’s leg. She took another sip and laughed.
‘What is there to tell? It’s not like before I wasn’t constantly on the move. I have a big beautiful comfortable bed to sleep in with a roof over my head. I get fed three times a day AND I’m bathing every day. I am living the high life,’ she said and Lakrissa shook her head.
‘Yes, that big beautiful bed, whose is it?’ She asked, leaning in. Zelphie leaned in with her, smirking.
‘Mine,’ she answered and Larkissa scoffed.
‘Either you’re a tease or Cal is a liar,’ she said, straightening up. Zelphie knew what Lakrissa was getting at, if involved Cal. Although nothing had really happened between her and Rolan and she would have liked for something to have happened, Cal was not being subtle at home about trying to get the two closer. She would have loved to be closer to Rolan, of course she would have, but she wouldn’t allow her new home to be ruined by those feelings. She would rather have good friends than anything.
‘Cal is a liar, but who said I’m not a tease?’ Zelphie said and Lakrissa laughed.
‘Oh, there she is. Gods I’m glad you are alright,’ she said and Zelphie smiled at her.
‘The feeling mutual,’ she said softly. The rum was getting to her quicker than she would have liked. ‘How is Alfira?’ She asked and Lakrissa smiled.
‘She’s perfectly fine, a little set back with her big plans, what with the total destruction of the city, your fault,’ she said and Zelphie nodded and laughed.
The two caught up and Zelphie was given a second drink and was quickly feeling silly. Lakrissa was forced to end her little break and Zelphie left the tavern, hungry and drunk. She walked very slowly back to the tower. On her way back, a little gray kitten began to follow her home. Zelphie swayed when she knelt down to pick up the little sweet thing.
‘Oh hello you little fella,’ she said and lifted the kitten in her arms. ‘You must be starving, come let’s fill that belly of yours,’ she said, deciding in her drunken state that she would adopt this little kitten. It clung to her with its little claws and Zelphie cooed down at it. ‘Oh aren’t you sweet?’ She said and rubbed the kitten’s chin. She continued to walk to Sorcerer’s Sundries and she moved out of the way of a very upset looking half-orc. She stumbled into the shop happily, her eyes and all attention still on the kitten.
‘There you are, I almost sent a search party out for you,’ Rolan called from the counter and walked over to her happily.
‘Look what I found Rolan!’ She cried happily and held the kitten up. Rolan’s happy face turned to concern as he looked at the little kitten in Zelphie’s hand. ‘He followed me home, isn’t he sweet?’ She asked and Rolan sighed at her, giving the sweet little kitten a pet.
‘Have you been drinking?’ He asked her, not ready to entertain the topic of the kitten until he squared away why her eyes were so sleepy looking and why she was swaying a little.
‘Yes, Lakrissa made me, but I guess she didn’t really because I did it anyway,’ she said with a snicker. ‘Only two rum drinks, but you know me, cheap date,’ she said and giggled and Rolan smirked a little.
‘I don’t know that about you, in fact,’ he said and she giggled.
‘Yes, because you’ve never taken me on a date,’ she said and poked him in the chest. She was plastered.
‘Alright, alright, up to bed with you, come now,’ he said, escorting her upstairs.
‘I said I was a cheap date, not an easy one,’ she said and barked out a laugh. She leaned on Rolan and held the little kitten close to her. Rolan burned red, but would ignore her. He wrapped an arm around her to keep her upright. She was loving that sensation. She was aware that she was drunk, and as obnoxious as she was, she wouldn’t make him angry. ‘Is it okay that I have a kitten? A little familiar? I can’t have a real one you see, I didn’t go to school,’ she rambled.
‘You’re fine, I’m sure with everything you’ve accomplished a cute kitten wouldn’t be much of a leap in responsibilities.’ He said and Zelphie giggled.
‘You do think he’s cute? Oh good. I always knew you were a cat person. All good people love cats. The real good ones, because dogs are all lovely and good but dogs love you unconditionally. Cats, cats are as smart as people and are choosy, so I say anyone who can get along with a cat is a good person,’ she rambled on and hiccuped. She felt his thumb rub her arm and the warmth and comfort of his touch led her tail to curl around his.
‘Yes, I do think he’s cute,’ Rolan said simply. Zelphie's attention went back to the kitten, who was very happy to be held. Zelphie scratched the little one under his chin. He was a perfectly gray cat with a small tuft of white on his chest. He was going to need a bath.
‘We are going to get you all cleaned up my little one, and we’ll feed your hungry little belly,’ she cooed and stroked the top of the kitten’s head. ‘How has the shop been today, and who was that lady who was leaving the shop so angry when I came in?’ She asked Rolan.
‘Oh, I’m very glad you’ve been off today, the amount of disappointing interviews I’ve had today…’ he said, tutting. He was much more comfortable talking about this sort of thing, others bothering him. ‘The last one, she claimed to be a cleric of Helm. More like a Paladin of Cyric the way she bumbled about. She couldn’t even bring a desert plant back to life. I’m not looking for a prodigy, but if your god doesn’t give you gifts, there is nothing I can do for you,’ he said and chuckled. Zelphie shook her head, Rolan was lying. He would only want the best in his shop. Perfection at the bare minimum. ‘We did find a budding wizard. She’s a bit under motivated, but I’m sure with my teachings she will flourish in no time,’ he told her and Zelphie put on a little pout.
‘Ah, so our lessons are all over? You’ve given up on me?’ She asked him and he looked down at her and laughed at her silly face.
‘Not even a little. I’m going to get you to master prestidigitation one of these days, I promise,’ he told her and she smiled. She hummed and looked back down at the kitten.
‘I’m jealous of your new apprentice, you’re a wonderful teacher,’ she said and Rolan sighed down at her.
‘Oh, do not be jealous. If she doesn’t perform, she’s out. You on the other hand, I’m too stubborn to let you quit,’ he told her and she smiled to herself. Was she jealous of this person she’d never met? A little. Would she keep up whining at Rolan? No. Did she want to? Yes. The pair got to Zelphie’s bedroom and Zelphie walked in, placing the little kitten on her bed.
‘Now, that’s nicer than the streets, isn’t it?’ She asked the little kitten.
‘Did you want help with him? He certainly needs a bath, I’m not even a fan of him being on the bed,’ Rolan said and scooped the kitten back up. Rolan did like cats, which was great for him; the streets of Baldur’s Gate were littered with them. The kitten took to him quickly, purring and rubbed his face hard against Rolan’s hand. Zelphie giggled and removed her bag and outer jacket.
‘I would love some help. And it looks like he loves you Rolan,’ she said and walked over to the pair. ‘Did you have cats growing up?’ She asked and Rolan nodded.
‘Yes, a lot of cats. Mother spoiled me a lot. She called me sensitive. I used to hate it when she referred to me like that. Like I was weak, but I know now what she meant by it,’ he said, still enjoying petting the kitten. ‘She meant that I was sensitive to others. Those smaller or weaker than myself. When someone needed my help,’ he continued and Zelphie’s smile grew.
‘Like me,’ she said softly and Rolan nodded.
‘Yes, you have the exact same instinct as me. You understand people who need help,’ he said and Zelphie shook her head.
‘No, no, I mean, I’m one of those people who needed your help and you gave it so freely,’ she said and walked closer, reaching out to pet the kitten. Rolan looked down at her and raised an eyebrow.
‘It was a privilege to help you, Zelphie. I finally had a way to pay you back for everything you have done for me. And my family,’ he told her honestly. She looked up at him and chewed on her bottom lip a little.
‘And when will this help run out?’ She asked him softly and he raised his eyebrows.
‘I don’t know…’ he whispered after a moment. ‘But when it does, I ask you to help me out once more by continuing to stay here. Because you being here, it’s more…a selfish want than a payback,’ he admitted and Zelphie’s eyes grew. There was another little silent moment and then Rolan looked back down at the kitten. ‘So,’ he cleared his throat and Zelphie’s eyes fluttered a little. She had been lost, sweet words from Rolan and two glasses of straight rum were an easy recipe for a mindless Zelphie. ‘Shall we start with his bath in the sink? You can’t get their ears wet, I think we’ll have better control of that in the sink than the bath,’ he told her and she sobered a little and nodded.
‘Oh, yes, yes, that’s a good idea,’ she said and the two walked to the bathroom together. She turned in the tap and walked to her bath for soap to use on the poor little kitten. She grabbed two towels as well, one for the inevitable mess and the other for the kitten. Rolan tested the water and held the kitten under the water, holding his scruff. The kitten immediately wiggled and cried. ‘Oh, no no, it’s okay, it’s okay little one, you’ll feel so much better,’ Zelphie cooed and helped get the kitten wet quickly and lathered up some soap. Rolan used his free hand to stop the kitten from swatting Zelphie. He was getting a few cuts, but was about as stubborn as the kitten was. The bath was very quick. The vermin and dirt and whatever else was in the little guy was removed and Zelphie scooped him into a towel, wrapping him tight. He kept crying. ‘Now now now, this is better, hm? Nice and warm, oh lucky you,’ she said and walked out of the bathroom, cradling the cat. ‘You can watch me take a bath later, you’ll see it’s not so bad,’ she continued to talk and Rolan walked out with her. ‘Thank you so much for helping. That would have been a fiasco if I had tried it alone,’ she said and Rolan grinned.
‘You did most of the hard work,’ he said and she shook her head.
‘Let me see your hand, cat scratches are awful things,’ she said and he gave her his hand with a little hesitation. She reached out and lifted his hand up, closing her eyes. ‘Te Curo,’ she whispered easily and with a cool blue flash of light, the scratches were gone from his hand as was the growing itching sensation he was getting from the cuts.
‘Well, thank you,’ he said softly and Zelphie smiled up at him.
The pair helped the kitten get as dry as possible and Rolan led Zelphie to the sitting room so the kitten could be in front of a fireplace. Zelphie began a fire as Rolan sat on the floor and let the kitten out of his towel wrapping. The kitten took his freedom happily and shook his body of water and took to licking the rest off.
‘I’m glad it’s still light out, he’ll be dry in no time,’ Zelphie said and sat down next to Rolan.
‘He’s a lucky little thing, finding you of all people,’ he said and looked down at Zelphie who smiled. She felt her own tail curl up happily. She scooted closer to Rolan and with all the liquid courage she had left in her system, she leaned against him gently and looked over at the kitten, who was fervently grooming himself. Rolan froze a little, the feeling of her body against his. She had leaned on him earlier because she was drunk. She was still drunk, wasn’t she? ‘H-how are you feeling?’ He asked her softly and she smiled.
‘I’m perfect,’ she said, meaning it. Was there a little rum floating in her head? A little. Enough to be a little sleepy and a little bold. But not enough to ruin her senses. The screams of a kitten in a bath had sobered her up considerably. But besides that, she was sitting in front of a fire, very close to a person she trusted and adored. Watching a kitten groom himself. She had no complaints. There was another moment of silence before Rolan’s arm coiled around her waist, holding her a little closer. Zelphie’s heart did flips in her chest and her tail found his quickly. She felt Rolan’s lips in her temple before he spoke.
‘Yes you are,’ he whispered and Zelphie felt the warm rush again. This time, she wouldn’t let it hang. She turned her head to look at him properly. He was looking right down at her, his yellow glowing eyes, his strong and sharp features. Zelphie wouldn’t remember who moved first or who moved the most. She just knew that both of them had and the pair kissed. Simple as that. Had it been too soon? Had it taken too long for such a simple, lovely little thing? It didn’t matter, it was happening, and Zelphie felt every spark of electricity in her body zap her skin. She refused to break this kiss. She had been wanting to kiss Rolan for a very long time. She felt his hand on her cheek and then the absence of his lips. He placed his forehead on hers. ‘Was that alright?’ He whispered softly and she nodded, a little speechless. He was more than alright, he was everything. She reached up again, needing to be back in their first kiss. A first kiss for lovers, what a dream. He kissed her back and she gave way to a grateful sigh. She felt his fangs against her lips, she could taste him. Her heart was beating terribly quickly.
‘How long have you been hoping to do that?’ She asked him softly, their foreheads and noses still connected. She was no longer drunk from the rum, but drunk from something else entirely. He grinned and nuzzled down against her.
‘A while…a long while,’ he admitted. She giggled in response. ‘Please tell me you’ve felt the same.’
‘Yes, if only you hadn’t hated me so much,’ she said and he laughed.
‘I did hate you, though, I’ve always been a supporter of the fact that hate and love are not mutually exclusive,’ he told her and her heartbeat quickly. He didn’t mean what he just said, of course. He couldn’t have. Love her? Love her. Not like that, certainly. ‘Because I do, I do love you, I cherish you. And I’m a fool for trying to hide it. I only wanted to make you comfortable around me, I…but everyone is so quick to poke and prod at my feelings for you, I wasn’t very good at hiding them,’ he told her. She felt his thumb rub her cheek gently. She could have melted into a puddle.
‘It shows you have respect for me, but you’ve made me comfortable Rolan. I trust you. I-‘ she said quickly and chewed on her cheek. ‘I love you too.’ She finished and looked into his eyes. He was as close as another person could be. She giggled again and he leaned down to kiss her again. Love. Real, trusting and respecting love. She’d never had that before. Love was more than kisses in front of a fireplace, love was bonding, understanding, trusting, wanting, caring. She would count what she and Rolan shared as love. But like lovers, they had that one more inch of feeling. For did she not love Lia and Cal? Yes. Did she love Jaheira and Gale and Shadowheart and Karlach and Wyll? Yes. Rolan was a different love, with that extra special something that made her stomach flip. He was handsome, he had a velvety low voice. He was commanding and mighty stubborn. Zelphie was attracted to him and it was clear, in the very least, that Rolan was also attracted to her. It was very nice to feel him want her. His hand holding her cheek, the other holding her side, holding her close. Possession. She felt fiery. She was all his. She placed a hand on his thigh and she heard him sigh out. She didn’t want to start anything else, but she did want to touch him.
‘Too, too long. You were right. Wizards are stubborn,’ he said and she laughed. ‘I should have done that ages ago, though…I don’t know if it’s stubbornness or the fear that…I was wrong about how you might have felt about me,’ he continued and Zelphie just kept smiling.
‘I’m glad for your new bravery,’ she whispered softly and Rolan took a minute and spoke again.
‘This isn’t all because you’ve been drinking, is it?’ He asked, clearly nervous about asking that. His voice quivered a bit and he was quick with his words.
‘No, but that’s a very kind question. No, listening to him screaming was enough to sober me up,’ she said and glanced at the kitten, who was still quickly attempting to lick himself dry. She laughed at the sweet sight and looked back at Rolan. ‘Like I said, I’ve been feeling a special way about you for a long while now, Rolan. Since the party, actually, back at our camp…’ she said and Rolan’s eyes widened. She laughed again. ‘Well, you were happy and a little silly, it was a very nice side of you to see,’ she said and Rolan’s smile widened.
‘Well, I can’t blame you then,’ he said playfully, Zelphie laughed lightly. ‘But…silly? Mmmm not my favorite word,’ he said and Zelphie laughed.
‘Then don’t act silly when you’ve had too much wine,’ she told him and he chuckled. ‘But you know, I feel very lucky to see a more relaxed side of you,’ she explained and Rolan nodded.
‘If you see me relaxed it's only because of how you make me feel, my dear,’ he told her and she smirked. My dear. It wasn’t the first time he had called her that. It was very sweet, maybe a little too innocent and careful, but too careful was better than too strong.
‘Now that is the best compliment I think anyone has ever paid me,’ she said and he laughed.
‘I don’t believe you, but I’m going to pretend you’re telling the truth,’ he told her and glanced at the kitten. Still going at himself. Poor little thing. ‘What shall we name him then?’ He asked and Zelphie looked at the kitten.
‘Surely Rolan Junior,’ she said and Rolan barked a laugh.
‘No, gods no, please do not call it that,’ he said and Zelphie hummed a laugh. He looked down at her and shook his head. ‘No, I know that look, I forbid it, both you and the kitten will be street urchins again,’ he told her and she laughed. She leaned over and scooped up the kitten who grumbled a little and went back to his grooming.
‘He is as stubborn as you, it appears,’ she said and Rolan smirked.
‘Hush you,’ he said softly and kissed her temple. She leaned back on him. This was very nice.
‘Ronald,’ she said and he laughed.
‘Please don’t,’ he said, his lips still her hair.
‘Rolanda,’ she added.
‘Zelphie.’
Silence passed between the two of them, Zelphie thinking and enjoying the moment, Rolan’s face buried in her hair. What was he thinking about, she wondered. Was he as happy as she was? She hoped he was, for she was very very happy. She continued to think about a good name for the kitten, no more teasing Rolan. After a moment she gasped.
‘What?’ He asked her, as if she had woken him up.
‘Elminster,’ she said and he laughed loudly and looked down at the kitten.
‘That is the most offensive way to honor Mystra’s chosen,’ he said and she grinned and rubbed the top of the kitten’s head. The poor thing was only concerned with drying himself off. Rolan sat up straighter and held his hands near the kitten, his hands beginning to burn hot. They stayed still together and very quickly the cat dried up. Zelphie looked up at Rolan and smiled.
‘Thank you,’ she said and Rolan smiled.
‘Lajy,’ he said simply. Zelphie blinked at him. Lajy was Infernal, Infernal for love. ‘I used love just then to conjure that heat. We should name him Lajy.’ He used love to dry off the kitten, wizards had to use emotions and memories to call upon The Weave, and Rolan has just used love to burn his hands enough. She smiled up at him, feeling as warm and as comfortable as she could be. She leaned back on him and his grip got tighter on her. He held her while she held the little cat.
‘Lajy,’ she repeated and stroked the kitten’s newly cleaned fur. He felt Rolan leaning against her temple again, their horns clinking a bit. Rolan’s horns were incredibly graceful, almost economical in their shape. They were large, but they swept back and up, out of the way. Zelphie’s were less economical. They went up and out. She found it very difficult to lay on her side at night, and with Rolan so close, she wouldn’t move, as if she did, she might take his eye out. They found a perfect position and the nice peaceful moment was only interrupted by the sound of a hungry belly. Rolan would blame it on Lajy.

More under the cut!
The door to your apartment clicks shut behind you, and neither of you are proud enough of the decision to come home together to want to turn on the light, so instead you fumble and stumble with your shoes near the door in the dark of the entryway.
“It looks exactly the same,” His voice rumbles the silence of the late night, and as you look around, you realize you have frozen your apartment in the time right before he left.
You were expecting to see you ex, Rin Matsuoka, for the first time since the break-up at your best friend’s wedding. Naturally, you both had received your invitations to the wedding before you had broken up, and you all were part of the same friend group, so it would have been willfully ignorant naivety to assume he wasn’t going to show. What you weren’t expecting was to see your name right next to his on the seating chart at the reception. In a flurry of panic, you had hunted down the wedding planner who offered her most shallow apologies, stating that they had made the seating chart before the break-up and that they just couldn’t accommodate the change once everything was set in stone. Your options were to leave or sit down and deal with it.
Your best friend would have killed you if you left.
So then you spent the entire time next to Rin, and at first, the air between the two of you was awkward and silent and uncomfortable, but then a few drinks in, the cake was cut, the music was getting louder and louder, and the two of you were leaning in and exchanging stories of what you all had been up to since Rin moved back to Australia.
It didn’t help that the break-up wasn’t because of irreconcilable differences or some terrible mistake one of you two made or a realization you didn’t actually like each other. Rin needed to move back to Australia to continue his training, and you simply couldn’t leave the life you lived here. No matter which way the two of you put it, he had to leave, and you had to stay. Long distance just wasn’t going to work, and so that left you with a tearful good-bye at an airport, and the loneliest few months in your apartment that you have ever experienced.
So considering all of this, when it was all over, and the light came on, and the dance floor cleared, and the drinks stopped pouring, it only felt natural for you two to call a cab back to the place you once shared.
“I didn’t feel like redecorating,” You offer in response, and you both know it’s probably a lie, but that doesn’t stop you from bushing past him into the kitchen to pour more drinks as he wanders to the couch, his eyes gazing over the pictures of you and your friends and him hung up all over the walls.
“How’s Australia?” You ask, being generous with the shots you’re dumping into the tumblers that the two of you bought when you first signed the lease on the apartment.
“Hot. Full of kangaroos,” He puts on an Australian accent, and it makes the two of you smile at each other across the space as he flops down onto the couch. You join him, shoving one of the two drinks you’re holding into his hand.
You’re sitting probably a little too close to him, and that thought runs through your head as he shifts, stretches, “accidentally” bumps his knee against yours, and you silence the thought by downing the whole drink without a breath and tapping your glass loudly on the coffee table once it’s empty.
“How’s it been here?” He asks, leaning back and looking up at you, his hair falling out of his face in a way that reveals his shining skin in the moonlight coming through the windows.
“Exactly the same,” You mutter, trying not to stare too long but realizing too late that too long passed a long time ago. “A little quieter, I think.”
“It’s quiet down there too,” He muses, and then suddenly, you feel his fingers gently, questioningly testing your lower back, pulling up your spine, lifting off your shoulder blades, and every hair is standing on edge because this is obviously what you both were expecting when you came home together, but it still feels so wanton and wrong.
“What are we doing, Rin?” You ask softly into the darkness, and he sighs, and you can hear him hang his head back and stare at the ceiling.
“I missed you, and I came home with you because I want to sleep with you, and I figure that you let me come back to your apartment because you want to sleep with me too"

andi !! for my valentine’s day gift this year i am humbly requesting will helping teacher! mike decorate his classroom for valentine’s day <3 (+ bonus points if this is pre-relationship and they spend the whole time flirting before one of them works up the nerve to ask the other if they have any plans,,, slides this slowly across the table)
suni suni suni teacher!mike is so personal to me so thank you SO much for this. also will being flirty and mike getting flustered is also everything to me, so have some of that too.
—
3: abc, 123 (baby, you and me).
Mike Wheeler’s a pretty damn good teacher.
Alright, look. Here’s the thing: Mike knows he’s a damn good teacher. There’s a reason why he’s one of Principal Tennyson’s favorite teachers, despite the fact that he’s only been at Hawkins Elementary for about four years now. Being a kindergarten teacher is not for the faint of heart, especially when Mike teaches in a school district full of rich, snooty parents who think their kids deserve special treatment on a constant basis.
But hey, somehow, Mike has managed to get through the last few years with very minimal complaints from said rich, snooty parents, and even better, he’s also managed to make genuine connections with his kids.
So, yeah. Mike’s a damn good teacher, and he’s not afraid to remind his boss of that when it comes time for his annual comp review.
But there is one thing that Mike absolutely sucks at in the realm of teaching.
Decorating his fucking classroom.
Ugh. Okay, so when you’re in college and preparing to be an elementary school teacher, they literally teach you how to make the cute bulletin boards and decorations and stuff, right? Yeah, well, Mike hated every single one of those presentations. Absolutely hated them. His worst grades in college were the stupid bulletin boards he had to make.
The content was fine. The aesthetic? Yeah, not so much.
And unfortunately, some things never change, and even though Mike has been a teacher for the last four years of his life, he still can’t for the life of him figure out how to create an aesthetically pleasing classroom by himself for the life of him. For the longest time, his best friend, Max, would come over and help him kind of make the classroom look pretty. Max is no artist either though, even if she’s a little better at making things look nice than Mike is.
But then, this past December, Max just had to accept a new job and move across the country to be closer to the guy she’s been dating for a year or so now. Ugh. Traitor.
So, that’s exactly how Mike finds himself here, on fucking February 1st, at approximately 8 PM at night, desperately trying to redecorate his classroom for Valentine’s Day.
In Mike’s defense, Valentine’s Day isn’t for another two weeks, thank you very much. But all the other teachers in the school have already decorated for Valentine’s Day, and if Mike gets one more stupid, passive aggressive comment from stupid fucking Brenda or her evil twin, Tammy, he’s gonna end up losing his job.
Ugh.
“Are you kidding me?” Mike groans, and he falls backwards onto the floor, letting the stupid pink construction paper heart fall onto his head. It’s rather ironic that he’s a kindergarten teacher and responsible for teaching twenty-five kids how to color inside the lines and cut paper properly and other stuff like that, since Mike didn’t even go to kindergarten and can’t cut in a straight line for shit.
The woes of being an “academically gifted” child.
Mike sighs heavily, and he closes his eyes, lying on the floor and questioning every single moment in his life that led him to this moment. Maybe he’s being overdramatic, but Mike doesn’t really care. Right now, he’s hungry, tired, and ready to go home.
Teaching shouldn’t be this hard. Seriously. How is it that Mike can deal with little Riley Jones throwing up all over his brand new pair of shoes or Kimmy Harris screaming at the top of her lungs and picking a fight for the first month of this year, but somehow Mike can’t decorate his stupid fucking classroom? Why on God’s green earth is so bad at making things look nice—
“Mike?”
Mike flinches sharply, and he startles, sitting up quickly at sudden intrusion. Much to his surprise, Will Byers, of all people, is standing in his doorway, an amused (and admittedly adorable) smile on his face.
…
Okay, so look.
Here’s the thing.
Will Byers… is the new art teacher at Hawkins Elementary. Their old art teacher, Sandy, had retired at the end of the year, and though Will had been hired pretty early on into the school year, he’s only just started working at the school.
And um… well… you see… Will is really, really good-looking.
Like really good-looking.
Quite possibly the most gorgeous and also the kindest person Mike has ever met in his life.
For starters, Will has the prettiest eyes—a warm shade of hazel that looks green in certain lighting, Mike has noticed. His smile is pretty too—soft and sweet and perfect for his personality. He’s got fluffy, brown hair, and maybe Mike shouldn’t think this about his coworker for God’s sake, but he thinks he’d really like to run his hands through Will’s hair and pull him close and kiss him stupid and—
Ahem.
Um, yeah. So, that’s… that’s Will Byers. He’s great, and Mike has been meaning to get to know him more—not even necessarily in a romantic way. The two of them are some of the only male teachers at Hawkins Elementary, and they’re among the youngest here at this school. It makes sense that they’d become friends.
Life’s just been absolutely crazy these past few weeks, so Mike unfortunately hasn’t gotten around to that.
“Will!” Mike exclaims, and he winces at the way his voice comes out as a little, panicked squeak. Warmth rises to Mike’s cheeks, and he offers a sheepish smile to his coworker. “Hey, um… what’re you still doing here?”
The smile on Will’s face grows, and he shrugs. “I could ask you the same thing,” he points out; then, his eyes flicker to the construction paper surrounding Mike. “I’m guessing you’re decorating your classroom though?”
“Ugh.” Mike scrunches his nose, picking up a few of the sad little paper hearts and letting them fall dramatically back onto the ground. “I’m trying to, at least. It’s going great, if you can’t tell.”
A soft laugh escapes Will’s lips, and oh God, Mike’s heart does a little somersault. Will walks into Mike’s classroom, sitting down across from Mike, and he offers a smile. “Not a fan of arts and crafts, huh?” he guesses.
“Not all of us can be artists, Byers,” Mike replies easily, and a crooked grin forms on Will’s face. “I like every other part of teaching, but decorating my classroom? It makes me wonder why I didn’t just stick with being a Business major like my dad wanted.”
Again, Will just laughs, reaching for some of the construction paper on the ground. “I don’t know you very well yet,” he admits, “but you definitely don’t seem like the kind of person who’d enjoy working in business.”
A couple things stand out about Will’s response:
He says business the way that Mike’s kindergarteners say things like… homework or broccoli or other things that they hate, and Mike can’t help but grin. He’s liking Will more and more with each second that passes.
… Yet.
Will definitely said “yet,” and okay, Mike probably shouldn’t read too much into this, but also, he can’t help himself. His heart may or may not be pounding inside his chest, and his cheeks may or may not be burning up right now, and he may or may not be trying to stop smiling like a total idiot.
“I would’ve hated business,” Mike agrees, and he leans against his desk, scrunching his nose again at the mess of decorations sitting on the floor. “But at least businessmen don’t stay late at their jobs trying to decorate their offices for a stupid Hallmark holiday.”
“No, they just stay late at their jobs to crunch numbers and avoid their wives and children,” Will deadpans, and Mike just snorts.
“Way to describe my dad in a nutshell,” Mike deadpans in return.
That playful grin returns to Will’s face, and he looks pleased at his ability to make Mike laugh. “Are you really planning on staying here until you have your entire classroom finished?” Will asks incredulously.
Mike winces, looking around at his classroom—which, admittedly… is about 10% decorated for Valentine’s Day. “Maybe,” he says, sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck. “I mean… I’ll probably end up coming back tomorrow and Sunday, but I wanted to finish as much of it as I can tonight.”
Will purses his lips, and he looks around the room again, a thoughtful look on his face. “You’re gonna need some help,” he decides, finally turning to Mike and smiling brightly. “And luckily for you… I’m pretty good at arts and crafts.”
Another playful smile—which most definitely makes Mike’s heart skip a beat and his stomach do a silly little somersault. “You don’t have to,” Mike reassures, though he really likes the idea of spending the entire weekend with Will Byers. “I’d feel bad making you help me out—”
“You could always make it up to me,” Will blurts out, and Mike just blinks.
For a moment, the two of the stare back at each other, and Mike watches as a rosy (and adorable) blush forms on Will’s face. He seems to register the fact that he just said that aloud, and Mike doesn’t really know Will Byers that well yet…
But he gets the feeling that Will might just be as interested in Mike as Mike is in Will.
A slow smile forms on Mike’s own face. His cheeks are burning right now, and not for the first time, he feels like a kid with a kindergarten crush. “I could,” Mike says softly, meeting Will’s eyes. “What’d you have in mind?”
Though Will’s face most definitely gets redder, he smiles at Mike again, his eyes going soft. “Dinner, maybe,” he suggests, still playful and soft. “A movie, if you’re interested.”
The inside of Mike’s head feels like the movie Inside Out, with all of his emotions running around in a panicked, flustered mess, and okay, look, maybe it’s embarrassing to admit at the ancient age of twenty-four (almost twenty-five) years old, but Mike’s not sure he’s ever felt this giddy and excited around someone.
There’s just something about Will Byers—something incredibly special that makes Mike feel like this… this could be something real.
“I’m definitely interested,” Mike says with a smile of his own, and he gestures to the Valentine’s Day themed decorations around them. “Getting a headstart on Valentine’s Day, huh?”
“Something like that,” Will laughs, and his eyes crinkle when he smiles. Then, he sets the construction paper in his hands down and stands up. “Come on. Let’s grab dinner, then we can come back and knock out a couple of your bulletin boards.”
He holds his hand out to Mike, and Mike’s heart—stupid organ that it is—feels all fluttery again. He can’t help but smile again, and he takes Will’s hand, letting the other man help him up.
“Dinner sounds like a good idea,” Mike agrees softly, feeling all too aware of how Will’s hand lingers in his for longer than it needs to. “You’re the best, you know that, right?”
An amused look forms on Will’s face as the two of them walk out of the classroom, and he glances back at Mike. “You don’t know me that well yet,” he says, a bit teasing.
“Well, it’s a good thing we’re about to change that,” Mike retorts, just as playful, and Will just smiles.
“Yeah,” he agrees softly, “it’s a really good thing.”
For a moment, Will’s eyes linger on Mike’s own, and warmth rises to Mike’s cheeks again. The two of them stay there, out in the hallways of Hawkins Elementary, for what feels like a little eternity; then finally, Will clears his throat and glances away.
“I’m kinda craving pizza,” he suggests. “You cool with that?”
“Pizza sounds great,” Mike agrees, and Will smiles again, walking down the hallway. “I can drive us. I know a good place.”
“Perfect,” Will says softly, and he glances back at Mike one more time, a softness in his eyes.
The words go unspoken, but somehow, they don’t go unsaid.
It’s a date.

The girl from London
Summary: Y/N is a British interior designer and architect who works for a company that has its headquarters in London but is well known in the US. So Jensen wants to surprise his parents and build them a new house at their favourite spot. When he meets her, it’s hard to listen to her when she talks about the design she’s planned, because other things about her seem more interesting.
Pairing: Jensen Ackles x female!reader
Warnings: fluff, sexual content, smut, p in v, unprotected sex (wrap it up guys)
“The architect really did a good, didn’t they?” Y/N says as she walks around the empty house admiring how it looks. “They definitely did.” Jensen says as he smiles at her. She took a look at the yard, her lip twitching slightly since in her opinion it looks horrible. “You also want me to redecorate the garden?” She asks curiously and politely. Jensen looks outside as well noticing how…how empty and boring it seems. “I’d like that.”
Y/N takes out her laptop to open up the program that helps her visualise her ideas for the interior design. “Do your parents have a special wish or taste?” She asks him curiously. Jensen watches her lips move more focusing on her accent than the words she’s actually saying. “Sorry what?” He shakes his head. “Do your parents have a special wish or taste?” She asks once more still politely because that’s what Britons are. “They like grey a lot.” He says as he thinks, if he’s being honest he has no clue what their taste is, that’s why he hired a freaking professionell. But how can she know? She doesn’t know his parents.
She sighs softly, “Alright.” She says and starts clicking and tapping on her laptop just to show him a little example. Jensen nods as he looks at the little draft she made within a minute. “I like that and I’m sure they’ll like it too.” He says with a smile. She returns the smile and chews on her lip as she gets back to drafting the whole house.
Jensen can’t help but watch her, her glasses are probably the cutest and sexiest thing about her, make her seem so hot and innocent at the same time. The blouse she wears gives him a lot of imagination, her tits seem like they’re perfect for his hands and the skirt? Oh well…the skirt fits her curves so well he couldn’t stop staring at her ass when he was showing her around the house.
“That’s my first draft.” She says a couple of minutes later. He blinks stopping himself from checking her out too much. He nods and looks at her laptop feeling quite impressed with her. She only needed like what, ten minutes maybe? And it’s looks awesome and comfy. A home he knows, his parents will love, especially his mom. His mom has a weak spot for little decorations and details and Y/N only showed him the future living room.
“If you want to change anything, please let me know.” She says softly as Jensen looks through the draft. “It’s awesome.” He says in awe. “Maybe Just the bed could be a different one.” He mumbles distractedly as he keeps looking at the different rooms. “Of course.” She nods and shows him different kinds of beds.
A few weeks later after meeting due to Y/N’s work Jensen finally brings up the courage to finally ask her out after drooling every time seeing and crushing on her. “Hey Y/N.” He says and she looks up from her laptop giving him a gentle smile. “Hey Jens.” She says softly.
If we’re being honest, she is crushing on him, too. But he’s her client, right? But she’s not from here, so no one would find out? Wrong. He’s a fucking actor, of course it would come out eventually, and when her boss will find out, oh well. Y/N chill out, nothing happened. She scolds herself mentally.
He smiles nervously at her, “So…uh, you wanna Hoyt for dinner…with me?” He asks hesitantly and even more nervously. And is he..blushing? She doesn’t know because she’s feeling pretty hot herself, the, the Jensen Ackles really just asked her out, has he?
“I’d love to!” She blurts out before she can change her mind, she’s only going to stay for one more week, so fuck it. But Jensen doesn’t know that she’ll be leaving in a week, otherwise he wouldn’t have asked her out.
He blushes deeply and smiles shyly, “I’m glad.” He says, feeling like a teenager all over again. I’m fucking 34, so get your shit together, Ackles, he thought.
She smiles with the same deep blush, thinking about how cutes he’s acting around her. “Me too. Pick me up at 7?” She asks him softly since she was about to finish work for the day. “Definitely.” He breathes out with a happy smile. Like a teenage boy. He cant believe, she said yes, and she can’t believe, he literally just asked her out, the guy she thought was the most handsome and cutest American guy she’s met. And she has met many American guys. They’re not comparable to the British men. But Jensen’s been a sweet and absolutely nice guy.
“See you then.” She says softly and kisses his cheek before disappearing, biting her lip as she gets more excited about her evening. Dean just stands there dumbfounded rubbing his cheek, like a teenage boy in some movie.
Dinner was great, even more than great, they laughed a lot and he learned so many new things about her. The thing he likes about her the most is probably her smile or her humour. She was so much fun talking to. The way she talks still fascinates him, her accent is so beautiful, kinda making her even more special than she already is to him.
“There we are,” She says as they get to the apartment complex she’s been living in for the past two months. Yes, it took Jensen two months to asks her out. She looks at the apartment building, not wanting the night to end so soon. “Do you wanna come up to my place?” She hears herself asking without thinking about it. His smile widens since he didn’t want the night to end so soon as well, “Sounds like a great plan.” He says as he takes her hand in his again, making her blush slightly.
If Jensen’s being honest, he really really likes her. He’s kinda falling for her, because she’s probably the nicest woman besides his mom. She’s so polite, it’s almost strange. Even his mom already likes her. His mom has already met her, because he kept talking about her and he kinda…slipped, ruining the surprise. Not that his parents weren’t happy, they were, his mom even started crying, but he wanted to surprise them when it’s done. It’s too late now anyway.
Y/N leads him inside her little apartment and Jensen smiles, since as soon as he enters her place her scent fills his nostrils. “Looks nice.” He comments softly as he enters. She smiles softly at him, “Thank you.” She says as he hangs up her coat. He smiles and takes his shoes and jacket off as well. “You want to drink something?” Y/N asks him as she leads him into the kitchen. “Maybe wine?” She suggests.
“Sure.” He says softly and smiles as she grabs two glasses. She fills the glasses with wine and smiles at him as he gets closer to her. She places the bottle of wine back on the counter as he stands in front of her. She looks up at him and smiles shyly, “Hey.” She whispers softly. “Hey.” He whispers back as he cups her cheek admiring how pretty and cute she looks in her glasses. She gets on her tiptoes as she closes the distance between them and presses her lips against his gently. He smiles against her lips as he kisses her softly.
Oh boy…the kiss feels much better than he has imagined, her lips are so soft almost pillowy. He pulls away a moment later resting his forehead against hers. “I’ve wanted to do that for weeks.” He whispers softly as he smiles with closed eyes. She smiles shyly, “Really? Me too.” She says softly. He smiles and pecks her lips one last time before sitting down on the couch in her living room. “This sofa is so comfy.” She says as she sits down. Even though she sits on it quite often, she likes the feeling of it. “I can agree on that.” Jensen says with a nod holding his glass before taking a sip and placing it on the coffee table.
“So how do you like it here?” He asks a few moments later smiling at her. “Here in the US?” She asks her accent coming through again. He nods and smiles softly. “It’s pretty great, I really like it here.” She says softly her smile faltering a bit as she thinks about that she has to leave in a week. Jensen frowns noticing slightly, “But?” He asks her softly.
She looks up from her glass, “I have to leave in a week.” She confesses finally. His eyes widen and he swallows hard, feeling his heart shatter into a thousand pieces. “What?” He breathes out, causing her to take deep breath. “My visa ends and I have to get back to work in London.” She says softly with a small smile, actually feeling sad about leaving. “Oh…” He mumbles sadly as he looks at his glass of wine. “I’m sorry, I probably should’ve mentioned it earlier.” She says with an apologetic smile and look.
“I-It’s okay.” He says with a kinda hurt smile. Every woman he likes or thinks is great, has to leave or isn’t interested in him. So that she has to leave now too, make him feel desperate since he really has hoped, especially tonight, that there could be more than a date, maybe a relationship. He sighs quietly to himself, since he really was looking for more with her. She notices how sad he looks, “I-I am really sorry, Jensen.” She says softly as she scoots closer wrapping her arms around him.
He hugs her back and captures her lips with hers, wanting to feel her close at least once before she slipping away from him, his dream girl. She kisses him back feeling just as sad as he does, because she really likes Jensen. He’s such an awesome guy and she really wants to know where their ‘thing’ would’ve led them. If she’s being completely honest with herself, there’s nothing that keeps her in London. Her brother lives in Australia, her mom’s travelling the world after her dad dies last year due to cancer and her friends? They’re all busy with being pregnant, taking care of their kids and being with their husbands. So? She’s just the workaholic who throws herself into work, because there’s no one waiting for her at home. But she’s being ridiculous now, if she immigrates to the US, she would have no job, apartment or money for the move.
His lips feel so incredibly good as she kisses him hugging him close as he pulls her on his lap making him sigh at the feeling of her so close to him. She feels perfect just in his arms already. He just wants to feel all of her at least once. His hands move smoothly over her back as she sighs against his lips caressing his chest gently.
He lowers her on the couch as he slowly gets on top of her kissing her gently yet passionately as he caresses her sides. Y/N wraps her arms around his neck as she pulls him closer to her sighing against his lips as she makes out with him lazily. No rush, just two people enjoying each other.
After making out for a while Jensen pulls away admiring her kiss swollen lips pecking them one last time, “Maybe we should take this to the bedroom.” He whispers softly as he caresses her cheek. She bites her lip and nods before getting up from the couch, turning the lights off in the living room and kitchen. She takes his hand in hers as she leads him to her bedroom. Jensen stops in the middle of her bedroom pulling her flush against him as he starts kissing her again caressing her cheek as Y/N slowly starts unbuttoning his shirt.
He helps her by shrugging it off his shoulders, leaving him shirtless. Y/N can’t help but stare at his abs and trace them with her finger tips, he just became twice as hot as he was before. He blushes a bit and lets out a small chuckle, “What?” She looks up at him with a smile, “You’re just really hot.” She breathes out and starts kissing him again. He blushes deeply, kissing her passionately as his hand reaches behind her back to unzip her dress. The dress falls to the ground. Jensen feels her naked tits suddenly brush against his chest and he cups one of her breasts squeezing firmly, twisting her nipple.
Their clothes are gone soon and they’re making out in her bed lazily, touching and exploring each other’s bodies. Jensen slowly gets on top of her whole making out with her and positions himself between her legs. “Is this okay?” He whispers against her lips and she smiles at how gentlemen-like he’s being. “Yeah.” She whispers softly and smiles against his lips when he kisses her again. He slowly enters her causing her to sigh at how good he feels inside her.
He kisses her neck gently as he lets her adjusts and starts moving a moment later, sighing at how well her pussy wraps around his cock. “F-Fuck.” He breathes out already feeling close at how good she feels and it’s been some time since he had a good pussy. She hums in response and wraps her legs around him, “Faster.” She breathes out. He doesn’t need to be told twice when he starts thrusting faster making her roll her eyes back at how good he feels.
They’re having sex for like two minutes and Y/N can tell it’s the best sex she’s ever had. Okay…she’s had sex with like…4 guys, so not so many, now 5 guys though. But Jensen’s been the best at foreplay and during sex. He found her clit immediately during making out and circled his finger right, not like the other guys who didn’t even found her clit.
Jensen sits up ok his knees and grabs her thighs firmly as he starts thrusting harder. She moans loudly when he starts pushing against her g-spot and her back arches off her bed. He groans at the sight of the face she’s making, you literally can see the pleasure written all over her face. He cups her tits squeezing them firmly as he thrusts even faster and harder, making her clench around his cock. “O-Oh,“ she moans as she feels the knot in her stomach tighten. Jensen groans since he’s been holding back since the moment he put his cock inside her.
He circles her clit and she moans his name softly at the feeling, moaning his name softly. Jensen feels his cock twitch at the sight of her and he’s trying so hard to not just cum inside her right then. He circles her clit a bit faster and Y/N feels her toes curl as she suddenly comes on his cock, squeezing so tight around his cock that it sends Jensen right over his edge with her. Her name slips from his mouth so soft it’s barely audible.
Panting fills the room as they both calm down from their highs smiling lazily at each other before Jensen pecks her lips softly. He gets off her and and plops down next to her pulling her tightly into his chest as he starts playing with her. He feels sad about that she’s really leaving so soon, for his liking it’s too soon he just wants her to stay in the States and not go back to stupid London.
There they are, at the airport, saying their goodbyes. Jensen’s gonna miss her so much that it already hurts just thinking about it. They’ve spent the last weeks having sex…a lot and spending every second with each other doing nice things together. So he’s gonna miss her, but he knows their little ‘thing’ won’t be more due to distance.
“You really need to leave?” Jensen asks softly as he squeezes her hand gently, watching and admiring her face one last time before he proudly won’t see her ever again. She gives him a gentle smile, “Unfortunately yes.” She says softly. The last few weeks there has been some thought on staying in the US, but it’s a big step she need to discuss with her mom when she’s back. Y/N really wants to stay, but now is not her time. She’s gonna miss Jensen a lot, he became so close to her in such a short time.
He pouts and sighs slightly, which causes her to pout back at him. “Unless you wanna bloody marry me.” She says playfully since she cants stay because her visa expires tomorrow. Jensen’s head perks up again, “I’ll do it!” He shoots causing Y/N to frown. “Bloody hell…what?” She stutters. “I’ll marry you right now.” He says. “Jensen, I was just kid-“ She starts. “I mean it.” He interrupts her. “You can’t do that.” She shakes her head. “Of course I can.” He tells her.
So what the fuck now?

John Dory x King Trollex
Word Count: 1.8k+
Part 2/?
—
John makes his way to pop village that morning in order to get everything set up in Branch’s bunker. He’s nervous, to say the least. Even though they did make up, he knew it would take some time for them to really become brothers again. The journey would be long, and would probably involve a lot of crying, but for his bros, he’d do anything.
Contrary to her owner, Rhonda doesn’t seem nervous at all. In fact, the armadillo was practically vibrating with excitement as she walked through the village, happily sniffing at the trolls that passed by, even kicking a few. Of course, John Dory was watching her the whole time, due to her tendency to straight up swallow some. Thankfully, there’s only been one incident since they’ve arrived, and he plans to keep it that way.
Unsurprisingly, he and his precious Rhonda are being led there by an enthusiastic Poppy, who talks her mouth off on the way there.
“Originally, it was Branch’s lil’ survivor bunker because he used to be SO paranoid of the Bergins attacking! But now that they aren’t eating trolls anymore, he redecorated the place a little?” She rambles lighting-quick, following her words with exasperated hand expressions. “It’s way less depressing than it used to be, and let me tell you, that place was such a BUMMER. Impressive, but a BUMMER.”
JD laughs, and thinks to himself how his little bro takes so much after him.
He listens intently along the rest of the way, taking in as much info as he can. He and his brothers still had a lot of catching up to do, especially since even after they’ve somewhat settled down, they hardly manage to get a real, long time to chat. Hes pretty sure that they’re chill for now, but his brothers wouldn’t probably want answers, and some apologies. Like, a LOT of apologies. Especially towards Floyd
Even now, John still remembers the painful feeling in his chest when he watched his little bro limp along with the help of a crutch. Just made the realization that he had failed as an older sibling hit that much harder.
If he hadn’t been so concerned with being perfect, would Floyd have been safe?
He doesn’t get the chance to ponder on THAT emotional rabbit hole before he’s startled out of his thinking by a loud ‘we’re here!’, courtesy of Queen Poppy. They’ve stopped in an a small, open patch of grass, a part of it taken up by a large, outlined circle, a welcome mat placed neatly on top.
“And here’s the bunker! The entrance used to be, like, way smaller, but like I said, no more Bergens trying to eat us!” She quickly explains before skipping on top of the cropped circle, gesturing for JD to come forward.
But it’s as if all the anxiety in the world decided to make John Dory their newest home. He was hesitant to reach out, but it lasted only a second. It reminded him of when he first went to perform for the first time. Goosebumps, shortness of breath, his entire body feeling as if it were on fire. A terrible feeling that was all too familiar, so a feeling that he knew how to deal with.
He and his brothers were on better terms now. Speaking terms! Within like, 2 weeks! That was something he didn’t think he’d even be alive to do! So if that was possible, speaking and chillaxing with his brothers and Queen Poppy would be a breeze.
So he smiles at the Queen and steps into the circle too.
The second he does, the Queen stomps her feet two times, and the next second, their being lowered down into the ground. He stumbles a bit, not expecting the sudden movement, but beams a little in both astonishment and pride. Branch was most definitely his brother.
—
When they get in there, Clay, Floyd, and Branch are all in the first floor kitchen, chatting lightly with one another. Of course, when JD arrives alongside Poppy with a toothy grin on her face, his brothers run over to say hello, bright smiles on their faces that contrast greatly to the expressions they first had when they met him during their journey.
The happiness he feels at that moment just about makes him explode.
—
The rest of the day is filled with lively chatter all around. All of the brothers, as well as Poppy, get to work on moving their stuff inside. Although the initial debacle of attempting to get their stuff inside resulted in a broken chair and JD getting a handful of splinters, they eventually managed.
Once everyone had gotten their rooms situated, everyone met up in the dining room to have a chat and a snack before either leaving or heading off to bed. They take turns, going Bruce had to leave the next morning to get back to his wife and kids, but Clay and Floyd were staying the night.
When it came to JD’s turn, he didn’t fail to notice the slight apprehensive look in his youngest brother’s eye. He felt a pang in his heart at that, but at the same time, understood why.
“We’ll after years living off the road, I think I’m about ready to settle down.” He confesses. The others nod in understanding, and Branch seems to light up, but it’s so subtle that really only John Dory notices. Reminds him of when Branch was just Bitty B.
John Dory smiles too.
“Now, I know you probably don’t want me here, so I will stay the night. But the next day? I’ll be living in ole’ Rhonda for the time being ‘till I get my own pod.” He explains.
He then shoots Branch a sympathetic look.
“No offense, little bro, but it’s a little embarrassing living in your little bro’s house, y’know?” He loudly whispers, and giggles are heard around the table.
—
That night, when JD meets up with King Trollex, his concerns fall out like word vomit.
“And I guess— I don’t know… what if I do fail them again?” John Dory did usher after a long, winding rant.
The King nods in understanding, and he places his hand on John’s. He feels him tense, his hand fidgeting into the sand, and thinks to himself that the guy must be nervous. And he wouldn’t blame him.
When he looks up, he meets JD’s gaze, and for a moment he sees something sparkle in his eyes before they quickly dart to look away.
“The fear you have is understandable, but you shouldn’t let it consume you.” He starts, never once breaking eye contact with the troll in front of him. JD wishes he could tell him then and there that staring at him like that makes his face stupidly hot, but knows that doing so would only ruin the moment, which was the last thing he wanted.
“You’ve already told me that, despite a few bumps here and there, you and your brothers have grown pretty close after everything with Velvet and Veneer. And that just proves that whatever conflict comes your way just makes your bond stronger.”
“Never let yourself doubt that, never just assume that your brothers still hate you. You’ve changed, man! And if your brothers can see that, and I can see that, then you can too.”
When he finishes, John is looking at him as if he’s the most beautiful troll in the world. And to John Dory, he definitely is. His jaw is slack, and his eyes glisten under the moonlight as tears well in them. He doesn’t know why, but he couldn’t bring himself to look away. As if some sort of invisible force had his head in a lock and was forcing him to stare dead on at the king, whose lips were still curled into that same, beautiful smile.
He just looked so… beautiful at that moment. It sounds corny, he knows, like something straight out of those cheesy rom coms he and brothers would watch when they were younger, but it was true! There was just something about the guy, possibly his looks or his genuine sincerity (likely both) that just made John Dory stop everything just to take it all in.
Unfortunately, John Dory knows he can’t go staring at the king as if he was a masterpiece (which he was) for too long unless he wanted the king to think he was weird, which was the absolute last thing he wanted! So he blinks a few times and nods his head curtly.
“…Thanks man.” Is all that follows after a long, 5 second silence. His voice is hushed, but sincere.
King Trollex smiles, and before JD can react, he’s embracing the pop troll in a wet hug. John Dory practically freezes in place. The heat on his face increases to a point where he think he might just explode.
“Don’t just do nothing, idiot! Hug him back!” He screams to himself, and quickly moves to reciprocate the hug as tightly as he could without squeezing the life out of the Techno king.
The aquatic troll pats his back, soothing rubbing circles, and whispers gently into his ear that “everything is gonna be okay.”
John Dory wishes that that hug could last for eternity. Despite the fact the king was cold from the after, the embrace was just as warm as a summer evening, and with each passing second he just melted into it more and more.
But, all good things must come to an end, and John Dory has to stop himself from whining when the king pulls away.
“I’ve got to head back, now. But I’m glad that you trusted me enough to talk with me about this.” He starts, approaching the water. John Dory, unconsciously follows. He doesn’t want his voice to fade away, not yet.
“You ever need to talk with me again, you know when and where you need to go.” John Dory nods despite the fact the king can’t see him, still following. He’s ankle deep in the water now, with the king just about fully submerged.
Trollex turns around, and he doesn’t seem too surprised when JD is standing just a few inches away. Just before he dives into the ocean, he reassures John Dory one last time.
“Remember, you’ve got this.”
And then he’s gone, diving headfirst into the waves and disappearing underneath them. John Dory watches the glowing colors of his body grow duller and duller, until they blend seamlessly with the endless blue.
He silently wishes he’d have more than just a night to spend with the king. Underneath his breath, he whispers a “thank you.”
As he approaches his precious Rhonda, the wet sand sticking to her like glue, he comes to a sudden realization that he felt stupid for not realizing sooner.
He loves King Trollex.
