in terms of non-shit asks: if you could put a character from any other piece of media into the world of rdr, who would you choose and why?

hi ive been stewing on this ask for a while. truthfully i havent been able to answer it because ive been mostly rotting myself with nothing but rdr2, but its been a very fun one to think about. i hope you, anon, whoever you are, see this so long after you sent it.

video game characters:

reinhardt from overwatch is the first for no other reason than i think he would frankly be an absolute delight in an old western setting. he would be such a joy and have so much fun being able to run free on the plains. it's in character for him to join a renegade group fighting for what he believes is right anyway. hes robo racist in overwatch so hed fit right into the 1890s-1910s.

the unreliable crew from the outer worlds. they could be their own outlaw gang!! scifi and old westerns are only like two degrees of separation to me.. i think its incredibly easy to reflect all of the unreliable crew's backstories into the universe of rdr too. you can easily have parvati and max be from a company town all the same, groundbreakers just new yawk baby. stellar bay is a company town out in the middle of the desert thats been abandoned and the people have been making do on their own still. could have it be a ranching town if you wanna make it more pre established.. idk. SAM's a dog. thanks SAM. i mean, both games even share the character archetype of "debauched priest you help set on the correct path." i dont think this ones too much of a stretch.

handsome jack, timothy lawrence, and angel from borderlands. idgaf about the rest of them right now. look at me. i neeeeeeeed handsome jack and timothy to both be weirdly similar looking guys that have known each other their whole lives. and jack needs to be a prime example of the american dream, a worthless, abused nobody who nobody cared about, to one of americas biggest corporate successes. and timothy lawrence needs to not exist in the public eye much. and he needs to be off doing things wearing a pretty porcelain mask, handling jacks affairs hes too lazy busy to handle himself. why the porcelain mask you ask? its quite offensive to inquire, hes got quite the deforming scar dont you know. and by 1911 angel needs to be ruling her dead fathers company with the same ruthlessness he did with some man as her puppet. shes dyking it up in the background dont worry about her. i think she only wears mounrers clothes and refuses to marry because "no man will ever have her fathers approval" or whatever. and jack and dutch need to suck on each others faces or whatever. sevika from arcane. i think you could also find a way to translate arcane to an old western setting well. i only care about sevika rn though. sorry what i got distracted thinking about how hot she'd be as a cowgirl. need i say more. well i will. many of her skills and struggles translate well to rdr already. fuckin. if i didnt wanna bother transferring the rest of arcane to rdr i could just make her work for bronte. like, functionally the same enough. honorable mention to caitlyn though, i think she would be fun to make a pinkerton or regular saint denis cop, but i dont have enough to say on it to make her her own point.

i feel like trigun is begging for it, no? well. ill stick vash here. i cant say much since i havent even finished stampede haha but i hold a fondness for the man. he can be a kinda weird cowboy :)
