VERONICA WOULDNT EVEN DO THAT ANYWAY ???

and then ohhh my god meant to be yours pisses me off soooo bad like i said cuz of how they change his motivations. they make it seem like he wants to blow up the school to get veronica back NO??? HE WANTS TO DO IT OUT OF VIOLENT EXTREMISM, TO SEND A MESSAGE, he wouldve done it whether veronica was with him or not!!!!! and so it turns whats a cautionary tale about falling into extremism into just "waaa i want u back im going to blow them up for you" SHUT UPPPP

the ending also pisses me off SOOO BAD WHY DID THEY MAKE IT SO HE SAVES THE SCHOOL. in the original he didnt do that because there WAS no saving to do, the bomb was forcefully taken care of by veronica, he commits suicide not out of a noble sacrifice because there wasnt a sacrifice to make. he does it because he succumbs to his nihilism. he says it himself "lets say i blow up all the schools. what then?". but nooo we have to make him do a noble sacrifice to save everyone cuz 😐 idk???? so in the end we have a character meant to be violent unstable and self serving into just Some Guy who made some mistakes but he makes up for it in the end!! he just really loves his girlfriend!!!!! NEVERMIND THAT HE TRIED TO KILL HER IN THE ORIGINAL. in the original he might have loved her but that love might as well not have been there because above that all JD wanted to do was to send a message to everyone and change the world through violent extremism and he was more than fine with discarding Veronica in favour of that

ALSO ONLY SLIGHTLY RELATED irrc they took out the line "you fucked me up pretty bad veronica. you have power, power i didnt know you have" WHICH PISSES ME OFF cuz sooo much about the original movie is about the agency of female characters, especially at the time it was written where female characters often didnt have much agency and storys mostly revolved around love interests, the movie was a subversion of those tropes and that line is the perfect conclusion to that message they just. discarded that. We all need to take a second to admire the sheer beauty of Prospit and Skaia because WOW.

If i thought the blues and golds were stunning before these frames blow that out of the water. And the clouds! My god the clouds. As we see Prospit turn its moon lines up in the eclipse and the clouds reveal scenes we have witnessed or may witness, sometimes changing shapes but mostly acting as a portal. Earth and SBURB are much more intermingled than we could have anticipated.

One of the clouds showed the meteor from the past that formed Jades island. As the meteor passed it left the cloud vision and became a cloud itself, which begs the question how thats possible and if it can somehow do the reverse but thats neither here nor there. What is important is that this is the meteor that Jade heard, only it didnt land on Earth but a strange present-past double of Earth on Prospit.

Im super happy I was able to get a screencap of the superimposition of the Earth and Prospit Earth impact site. Its not the best but it really highlights how much intermingling occurs during an Eclipse and how Jade is able to get her future visions. Speaking of, @homestuckreplay does a great job going more in depth about that here (always appreciate you friend, that kinda theorizing isnt really my wheelhouse <3). We get to learn that this is the crash sound from Jades pesterlog, one of potentially several that she has while awake on Prospit.

From the meteor, Bec emerges out of the lava as well as a small glowing white spirograph that is at the site of the frog stature back on Earth. Theres another shot of Dream and Robo Jade heading to the site to investigate only to be blocked by Bec in both cases. I wonder if because Bec is a Skaian creation if his movements are outside of time in such a way as to be in both places at once (similar to Jade but just one body) or if he is connected to each version of himself and they move as one when necessary (exactly like Dream and Robo Jade are to Jade).

With that option foiled, Jade heads back to her room but notices that John has left his room. We dont see when exactly it happened, but sometime when Jade was exploring the crash site John left the bed and now floats in the sky outside of his bedroom (which looks so cool and just adds on to the mirror imagery we are getting right now). John is starting to wake up. We get flashes of his cloud visions (shapes only) from when he took a nap while Jades silhouette flashes between the black standard pose and her current floating dream self.

Unfortunately he is woken up (his real self that is) due to interference. Looking back at that sequence two things stand out, beside the trippy light show that is. The first is the ever present spirograph and the second is a pumpkin. The spirograph leads me to believe Skaianet had some hand in allowing the interrupution. Thinking on it, its strange that Skaia and Skaianet are named as such. Im sarting to be real skeptical on the purpose of Skaia as a whole. If they are one and the same why is it letting all of this happen? And is it really a good idea to be protecting it when we dont know its intentions?

The pumpkin, as far was we can tell at this point, has to be related to the Wandering Vagabond. The pumpkin in that sequence is not one that we have seen yet. It really seems that the theory of outside hacker forces is becoming more and more likely but in such an odd way. I genuinely dont think WV caused this out of malice, but I dont understand why it was allowed to happen. Again, Skaia or SBURB or Whatever is very confusing in its goals. Ugh, I might have to put my current little essay project on the back burner to try and parse each piece of this dubious entity.

Finally, we see John awake once more but at the same time whatever happened to keep his dream self from waking up also woke Earth Jade up. Another mirror, but this time between John and Jade. Im taking this to mean theres probably more similarities between them than we previously thought or its another way to highlight the simultaneous nature in which that interruption occurred.

All I know is the next compare/contast essay I make is gonna be WAY more convoluted than I thought.

you wipe the sweat of your lip, looking at the villian in front of you..

"kurogiri...? how could you let these brats get the best out of you?" questions the blue haired male. you look down at bakugou as he starts to rant again.

"you got careless you dumbass... it wasnt hard to figure you out." he pauses before starting again, "only certain parts of you turn into that smoky warp gate- you use that mist to hide your actual body- kinda like a distraction, thinking that makes you safe." he moves his face lower to the villian, "thats why we missed... but if you didnt have a body you wouldnt be wearing this neck armor right? you arent immune to physical attacks if theyre well aimed.." 

the villian grunts and you snort, geez who wouldve known hes such a nerd... he sends an explosion through his palm as kurogiri attempts to move. "you try anything funny and ill blow your ass up right now... you hear me?" he grins menacingly.

you turn your attention back to the blue haired male standing in front of you all, "you all escaped unharmed and captured my two biggest weapons... you kids these days make us seem like animals..." he rasps.

"maybe cause you guys dont think things all that through ey..?" u retort, before you see the inhuman monster break through todorokis ice. you gasp as it starts regenerating the limbs it lost. 

"what is that?" all might questions standing, "i thought he only had one quirk...?"

"i never said that... nomu was designed to be able to take you on.. even with 100% of your power..!" chuckles the blue haired male; shigakari. "but first we need to free our way of escape.." you widen your eyes as you register what he means.

you use your wind to pull bakugou to you right before the nomu reached him. you let out a loud gasp as the nomus punch sends you and everyone else flying. looking over, you see all might on the other side of you, "he mustve moved to save you as well.." u mutter to bakugou.

"you didnt even hold back with the kids...!" all might grunts, as he struggles to get back up. 

"theyre no angels... that plain looking one right there tried to kill me with his punch..!" shigakari points, "thats quite unfair isnt it? just because you all label it as a heroic thing, everyone says its fine, but when someone else does it its automatically considered wrong..!" he pauses, "your just labeled as the 'symbol of peace' but you still use violence... and violence breeds into violence... ill make sure everyone knows that once your dead..!" he chuckles.

"villians like you always try to color their actions as noble.. but the truth is you just enjoy it..! isnt that right..?" all might yells.

"we've outnumbered them.." mutters todoroki as he readies himself along with the others. you get into a fighting stance until all might stops you, but before all might could respond todoroki speaks again, "you wouldve been in trouble before if we didnt help, remember..? you need our help."

"i thank you for your assistance, but this is different..." he pauses and looks back, "its gonna be all right... just sit back and watch a pro at work..!"

you frown, "but your injured... your bleeding..!" you plead not wanting all might to further injure himself. he gives you a thumbs up and you hold your breath as all might readies himself.

suddenly the nomu runs at all might and meets him with a punch that sends everyone flying back. you grunt as you try to hold yourself in place as they both brawl, almost perfectly mimicking each other. you widen your eyes as you realize every punch that follows the other is slightly stronger than before, he was going beyond 100% of his power.

the nomu goes flying back and all might goes after it, "a real hero..." he pauses as he grabs the arm of the nomu, "will always find a way to get justice to prevail..!" he finishes as he throws him down. you shut your eyes tightly as you fight against the tremors, "now i know youve heard these words before... but ill show you what they really mean.." he winds his arm back as the nomu runs at him.

"go beyond- PLUS ULTRA!" he yells as he sends a punch right into the nomus torso, sending it flying out the USJ. 

you stand up gasping, "he beat the shock absorption right outta him!" praises kirishima, "ive never seen a shot like that before..!"

"imagine having power like that..! he mustve been punching him so fast he didnt have time to regenerate..." praises bakugou as he scowls.

you turn to find all might and rush towards him, "surrender... we all want to get this over with.." he speaks to shigakari. you stare as shigakari starts itching his neck out of frustration.

hes not giving up..! but all might cant stand in this form any longer...! you think as you look at all might struggling to keep up his form. suddenly, you see deku in the air with his arm winded back about to punch shigakari. you gasp as you see shigakaris hand being raised toward dekus face, but before you could react you hear a gunshot and see deku fall on the other side.

you turn and see that the back up finally came. "about damn time.." u grunt pulling all might back. u see multiple shots being fired, but kurogiri warps himself around shigakari.

the next thing you knew, thirteen was trying to suck up kurogiri, but sadly her attempts came to a fail as they teleported away.

you turn to all might and look at the injury near his stomach, "i can try to somewhat heal it right now..." you mutter out, rushing to get the water. "let me see the injury-" you ramble.

"nono.. its alright..." rasps all might placing his hand on your shoulder, attempting to reassure you. you shake your head urgently, "no..! its not! please just let me attempt too..!" u plead frustratingly.

after a couple of minutes, all might was taken back to ua privately so no one could see his real identity. you frown as you get bandaged for the minor injury you received on your arm.

"hey y/n..!" kirishima runs up to you, "are you alright..?" he asks worriedly, checking you for any other injuries.

you chuckle nodding, "im fine.. just frustrated i couldnt help all that much... i couldve tried and somewhat heal all might, but he didnt accept no matter how hard i tried.." u respond dejectedly.

he puts his hand on your shoulder smiling softly, "hey there.. dont be sad.. at least you tried right..? its the thought that counts!" he grins, "besides you were badass when we were dealing with those villians alongside bakugou!" 

you nod smiling, "thanks kiri..." 

"all right everyone..! we're heading back to ua now..!" exclaims iida, "get in the same spots you came to the USJ in!" 

you groan silently as you walk inside realizing you would have to sit next to bakugou again. geez i helped save that boys life more than once, yet he still hasnt thanked me.. you frown.

you look out the window frowning before you hear bakugou sit next to you. "thanks..." he mumbles looking away.

you widen your eyes realizing what he said, "what..?" u gasp.

he groans, "i said thanks genso, god you deaf now too..?!" he seethes. you gulp scooting away a bit.

"my bad... but uh- your welcome...?" u mumble hesitantly.

he looks away not responding and you turn away not wanting to pester him anymore, you didnt wanna get on his bad side on the way back after what had happened. you close your eyes as the bus starts softly and starts to drive back.

So I actually have two drv3 x Pressure AUs !! One is the oneshot AU, which I plan to write, and the other is the Pressure Time Loop. Shuichi takes Sebastian's place as Kokichi goes through every run over...and over...and over... But I could totally see Shuichi getting crazy invested in all the documents XD He's off to the side going "hmm..." while Kokichi is flashbanging Sebastian and Eyefestation every chance he gets. Kaede is having a silent panic attack the whole time and trying to make sure the boys don't get themselves killed. She was also 100% the first one to walk into a locker full of POVM (⁠个⁠_⁠个⁠) LOL

and oh I WILL talk about them!! LUNARLEONARDO ART REVEAL LETS GO BABY

Keep in mind before proceeding that some sensitive subjects might be covered here :{

Since their stories are so extensive and Tumblr might legitimately explode if I go into as much detail as I would've, I'll keep their stories as brief as I can. Starting with my favorite,

MONTSERRAT!!

(a lot of these are drawn on flipaclip so forgive me)

Mont, as you can probably assume, is an Undertale OC. They originally came from my avid Handplates AU obsession, so they were a Handplates OC (⁠个⁠_⁠个⁠) BUT! I have since deviated from that AU and now their AU has their own thing going on, even if there are still some similarities QwQ

The three were born as brothers, Sans and Mont being created as twins (hence why they look very similar. also papyrus i just hard to draw but shh) Of course, Gaster is their dad, except he is just.. straight up evil. There's no redeeming this guy sorry Gaster fans (me. I am the Gaster fan. :( funney void guy). Sans and Papyrus were often kept separate from Mont, mostly since they were a menace even while they were being experimented on lol. And because of this and the need to keep Mont in heavier security, the funny skeleton guys we know and love both escaped the lab together. These kids didnt think twice about taking Mont with them, mostly since they just assumed that they could find someone strong enough to defeat Gaster to save them afterwards. :")

Those two's escape scared the SHIT out of Gaster. Now all these people were gonna know that he was experimenting on children to try and make super soldiers to blow up the barrier with void power and wipe out humanity !! And he couldn't have that happen!! He tried his best to do damage control, but Snowdin (where the skelebros showed up after escaping the lab), kind of.. rioted?? Like imagine an angry mob with pitchforks and fire. That kind of riot. That drove Gaster all the way to the CORE, and down down down he went. With Gaster being erased from existence, so was his lab and his followers.

...of course, since you cannot truly erase anything-- not as a monster, at least-- Gaster and that lab were cast into the void. And thus... So was Mont.

Mont, of course, was confused. They were like 11 years old when this happened, and the only knowledge they had on anything was what they had learned from the books they snuck behind Gaster's back. They wandered the lab over and over, eventually coming to realize that wow, they really were alone. Everybody left. There was no way out for them. These negative emotions were too much for them to bear as the years went by, those feelings continued to grow and grow. And eventually, the void releases them from those emotions. At a price, of course. Mont called it the "Voidserpent"; a long, snake-like creature made of pure negativity (yes i was deep into the sans auverse) that kind of wanted to kill Mont ?? I mean when you have suicidal thoughts and all of your negative thoughts and stuff manifest as a Creature. It still wants itself dead. And itself is you, so um. mont spent a loooong long time running for their life in that lab (⁠´⁠；⁠ω⁠；⁠｀⁠) just running in circles

There is Kind Of a happy ending though! This brings us to my sweetheart Cleudo! :D

Cleudo works as an assistant scientist under Alphys, researching primarily the void. Eventually, their research led them to find some of the weaker spots in their world, where essence of the void could be found and studied. One of those spots is deep within the forest of Snowdin, which is where she'd often be. One day, she decided to try and access the void. Probably not the wisest decision on Cleudo's part, but she's a liiittle impulsive xD

It was because of this decision though that she gave Mont the gateway they needed. They pretty much noclipped out of the floor, scaring the everloving shit out of themself AND Cleudo. By now they're 22, so they've spent a reeeally long time in that lab. Cleudo, who has NO idea what she just witnessed, decides to do the one thing she can do: Take this skeleton to Alphys' lab and make sure they're not radioactive or something. And also call Sans and Papyrus, the only skeletons in the underground.

Overtime Mont becomes ..kind of... accustomed to life. I'm not going to get into their AUs or Everything Stays (a roleplay between me and my gf with Mont and her oc) since we'd be here forever, but as for Mont in their "canon" timeline, they avoid the human like wildfire. In the True Pacifist route, I'd imagine you have the option to fight them if you go way out of your way. It'd just be something for fun, because Mont is very fun! They're very fun and silly and doesn't take much very seriously. They looove floating, they do it a LOT, and they do have a good handle on blue magic and teleportation. However their experience with physical attacks is.. lacking, and they're very much a "one hit kill" kind of monster. They can take a pretty hard punch, but if their HP drops any amount, they're screwed. They make up for this in evasiveness though, and they make use of their surroundings to use as a weapon. They are very much the kind of person to hit somebody with a table in a fight.

The last thing I wanna mention is that pink hat. The first ever story they appeared in was a roleplay called Fallen Deep, where they wore that hat. In Fallen Deep, they did some veerrry bad things, collapsing half the multiverse to try to wipe out every AU with a Gaster variant (they were, and are still kind of, very op LOL). That hat represents Fallen Deep Mont, and thus, what they did. While the hat is a building brick of their design, it's not something Mont often has in different AUs due to what it's connected to. rest in peace fallen deep mont you would've loved commentary youtubers

QUINN

Quinn is a funky little guy. His story is a lot simpler, so hopefully this section will be shorter XD

Quinn is the eldest son to Riley Anne, a popular seamstress. She and Quinn's father divorced when they agreed that they had different goals in life-- one wanted to persue parenthood while the other just wanted to stay on that workforce grind. Quinn's father would financially assist Riley Anne as she raised their children, since she couldn't do as much work as she used to being a single mom.

When Yu was very little, she was diagnosed with an incurable illness. Dont ask me what illness because i dont know💕 but the point is that there is a very, very small chance that Yu will make it beyond double digits. Both Riley Anne and Quinn loved Yu very very much, but unfortunately, when she was 8 and Quinn was 11, Yu passed away. Quinn was right next to her in the hospital when she went, so she at least went feeling as safe and loved as possible. When this happened, Riley Anne was out getting food, unaware of her daughter's rapidly declining condition. And when she got back, she found Quinn holding Yu's hand, kind of just... frozen. It's not every day you watch someone die before your very eyes, especially not when you're as young as Quinn was. Seeing this, something in Riley Anne just... snapped. Her daughter couldn't be gone yet, the doctors said they had at least a few more years together. What happened? She was only gone for no less than a few hours.

And it hit her in that moment. Quinn must have murdered her daughter.

Of course, Quinn never did such a thing. But Riley Anne needed some reason to explain why she wasn't there with her daughter when she passed. And so Riley Anne took Quinn home. And things got... bad.

For two weeks, it was an extremely unstable household. I won't go into detail, but it was to a point that Quinn was too afraid to leave his room. He took to his father's religion for comfort, praying every day to the moon to protect his sister, wherever she was, and to bring his mother down from whatever delusional break she was having. (Note: this is not based on any real life religion, god or faith ^^")

One day, a particularly bad fight broke out. It was the usual "you killed your sister"/"what are you even talking about" argument, when things got violent. Riley Anne grabbed a knife, and Quinn, knowing perfectly well he was in danger, booked it for the front door. The neighbors intervened when they heard screaming in the front lawn, and although they stopped Riley Anne from murdering her son, he was in really bad shape. He had been stabbed over like, what, ten times ? I forget the exact number, but he almost died. And as the ambulance and police arrived, the moon god stayed true to her word-- her promise to protect those who dedicated their faith to her-- and Quinn survived. However, because of the severity of the wounds, Quinn was left with the inability to express or even feel most of his emotions. That's why is his eyes are white like that, and why he has such a flat expression. He physically cannot express anything else ｡⁠:ﾟ⁠(⁠;⁠´⁠∩⁠`⁠;⁠)ﾟRiley Anne was carted off to a psych ward, so shes getting the help she needs.

Little 11 year old Quinn, was now all alone. This ones gonna be hard to explain it youve been thinking about this from a standard sociental standpoint, but basically Quinn's father buys Quinn a mansion for him to live in, which is fairly deep in the woods. It is connected to a local town though, where a lot of the adults there help Quinn out. They give him some easy jobs around town and sometimes they stop by his house to make sure he isnt like. Yknow. Starving to death. Quinn also has a lot of domesticated animals that keep him company and also make sure he is not Starving To Death. Now might be a good time to mention that I created Quinn as a Rise of the TMNT OC and he is friends with Leo who makes fun of him for being an orphan and yeah im gonna stop there

WORLD ENDER

oh boy okay this one

So this is World Ender, once known as Zelyx (the one in the tv). Zelyx was always powerful, even in their home universe. And one day, they simply just... got bored. Their home universe was an awful place to be, unjust to those who were not already at the top of the societal ladder. So Zelyx's solution? BLOW IT UP!!!

After destroying their home world, Zelyx travelled from universe to universe, looking for something that would entertain them. And eventually, they came to realize that it was ending these worlds that brought them the most joy. So they took on the name and form of "World Ender". Their whole thing is basically just going from universe to universe and ending worlds with life on them >_> they're kind of an asshole

Now as you might have noticed, Shuichi is in that second picture. Well! That is from an AU called, wouldn't you know it, World Ender/Alternative. However I won't be getting into that here, since it's not directly part of World Ender's story. It's more of a Shuichi AU tbh :p

SOMBRE

It'd be a crime not to mention my DAUGHTER. This is Sombre! It'd take FOREVER to explain what's up with her so I'll keep it simple. Sombre is a creature called a sokochou, which is something a funky little lab deep in the woods nearby realllly wants. This is "GreenFirest Lab", who further science via unethical experimentation. basically it's because of them that legit furries exist in this universe so you can imagine how humanity reacted to that. Anyhow, Sombre, also called "GFLS-53", took on the role as the "Hound", totally robbing this one guy of his job. sorry 27 xd

The Hound is a role in the lab created to prevent containment breaches and mostly to stop the less stable and/or pissed off ones from starting a massacre. Whenever a subject escapes their cell, it's Sombre's job to take them back and/or fight them into submission. yeah so you'll never guess what sombre does after some scientists fuck up their experiment with her LMAO

Sombre is taken over by what we call "Voltage", and it does the exact massacre it was her job to stop. Many subjects die, almost all the scientists die as other subjects break out and kill them. There's a lot of death on this fateful night :( And Sombre's friends, Cybro, Stargazer, 27, and arguably Ender and VD, are rightfully confused and afraid of her actions. They take to helping subjects evacuate, escaping into the forest. 27 tries his best to bring her down, and hes almost killed. He wouldve been killed if not for his bf VD. Ender and Stargazer are helping people evacuate. It's only when Cybro, a robot dog with the soul of the lab's founder's son, asks Sombre to kill him; to finally relieve him from his duty. Sombre only comes back to herself after killing Cybro, which she is Extremely Devastated about. also 27 set the entire building on fire so it's probably time to run lol. anyways Sombre goes home a changed woman and she reunites with her sister and girlfriend and yay!! everyone is happy! except for 27 who will forever be mad at sombre for taking his job

Hakura is the Ultimate Profiler. I watched a little too much Criminal Minds and the brain worms got me xD. meanwhile Kuroka is the Ultimate Investigator! Sadly Kuroka doesnt have much to her yet :( actually neither of them have that much. But they do work together to solve crimes and stuff and they are sooo in love . The reason they don't have that much is because I've been so focused on my fics I haven't though much about my OCs ;_; BUUUT they are in my heart trust

i think he blows it out way out of proportion... though im not sure thats the right word... i mean, if you manage to get close to caine (which is quite a feat considering before he didnt really. build genuine connections with circus members as well as being busy with... whatever it is he does...) he doesnt quite.. understand... so i think he insists on being your eyes, utilizing his... thousands of all seeing eyes. he can get overbearing at times so youre going to need to set the record straight and explain things to him... hes a little confused but hes got the spirit.... takes you to his room whenever things get hard (migraine, nausea, ect ect ect) and pampers you... so.. maybe him taking things too far/seriously isnt that bad...

POMNI:

has probably tossed you something before remembering your depth perception... the regret on her face is immediate, spreading over it before you even have the chance to react to whats going on... quick and long stream of apologies as she picks up the thing; it wasnt even likely anything important or fragile

eventually builds the habit to not toss things to people when they ask for something.. offers to read things out for you if you have trouble with it, as well as guiding you to dark places if you have trouble with migraines as well (while admin doesnt have depth perception he does have something funky with his eyes that make them sometimes roll and cross and it suuuucks)

RAGATHA:

oh she is so so so empathetic with you. as mentioned above in pomnis part, if youre prone to nausea or migraines, shes going to do all that she can to help you... usually lets you lay in her bed to collect yourself... helps you judge the distance things are, especially if its in a chaotic situation such as an in house adventure. if you open up to her about the reason behind your bad vision, her heart is going to hurt for you. if you need comfort, she will provide it; if you just need some ears, she will provide. generally very good about accommodating you

JAX:

has probably asked why your eyes look off, assuming they cross or otherwise arent "standard". doesnt really say it to be rude, well.. actually no this is jax hes likely just scoping to see what the deal is, though its more of a curiosity thing. gives a soft "oh" when you briefly explain why. honestly i think he has a habit of tossing things to people when they ask him for something, and i think this would carry over to you.... does sometimes feel bad, but hey! hes not trying to be mean (kinda...)

does not stoop low enough to use your poor depth perception to his advantage for pranks, though. hes an asshole but i dont think he would be that evil tbh...

KINGER:

honestly? same. like i dont think that he has bad eyes thanks to an injury, no rather i think its just because hes OLD!!! so theres times where you guys fail to be each others eyes. you have terrible depth perception, he is shortsighted... uh oh... good news is that hes always keeping an eye on you (no shitty pun intended) due to him constantly worrying about you, so the chance of you somehow being in the way of danger is fairly low.... probably.... if you tend to attract it, though, or are on the clumsier side, rest assured that hes keeping you in the pillow fort!/lh

ZOOBLE:

probably doesnt even notice it at first until you bring it up in passing, and honestly i dont think their view on you would change. sure they would try to be more accommodating for you since theyre not totally apathetic, especially since youre a friend and/or partner... but theyre not too... emotional, so unlike ragatha they wouldnt outwardly give you an excessive amount of.... pity? care? im struggling to find the right word, im afraid... will let you vent about it, though, if the issues that come with it cause any stress.. otherwise doesnt bring it up too much unless you bring it up, both because they dont think its too much of a big deal as well as not wanting to pry

GANGLE:

very sad very empathetic if you ever open up to her about the events leading up to your injury (assuming you remember/it was something that happened in the real world that carried into the digital world), and perhaps sheds a tear for you. helps you read and write things if you struggle with it, as well as even wrapping her ribbon around your eyes should any random bouts of nausea roll in. generally very sweet about it but is very careful about not stepping over any lines, tends to ask before doing something (especially with the blindfolding/nausea thing)

Thoughts on Brandon Sanderson and people who accuse him of writting "slop"?

that they are not entierly wrong.

Sanderson is a writer who writes both great, and bad things, but above everything else, he might be the most "Technical" writer alive.

He is capable of writing characters such as Wit, Kaladin, Raboniel... But he is also capable of writing characters such as Shalan, who in book 1 was boring beyond belief, book 2 was great but had one of the most headbanging moments of the franchise to let her win an argument, book 3 made tons of mistakes but only got called out on the ones she made because of good intentions(and not the ones like almost blowing an entire military operation due to a bad and spiteful joke), and book 4 was having a total mental breakdown that was not really earned from a story perspective.

The point im leading up to here, is that Shallan is technically, looking at her from exclusively a mechanical, story beat perspective, a perfectly functioning character... But other than book 2, i REALLY dont care about her storyline.

And that sums up Sanderson's bad qualities as a writer in a nutshell.

Brandon always understands how something works, how to mechanically set up a story, and then later pay it off, and that along with a pretty good writing capacity is usually enough to carry his stories to amazing heights... But when he fails to do that, when a story needed a bit more omph, than his decent but not brilliant writing was capable of mustering, it REALLY shows.

Shallan is the best overall example from the Stormlight archives, but it's not the only example, as i could list tons of others, but i would very much agree that when Sanderson doesnt manage to stick the landing on something, Slop is the PERFECT analogy for how to describe it.

Another example is mysteries.

Sanderson is not good as writing mysteries.

He LIKES mysteries, and it's clear he understands the technical spects of writing them, but he is not martin, where you can go back to book 1 and see how already at this early stage he is setting Bran up as the magical god-king of Westeros, and Dany as a woman with severe mental problems that probably should not be anywhere near a crown.

Sanderson's mysteries often boils down to us being told something new and interesting that recontextualises something old, rather than wondering about a question, then getting foreshadowing, and then a payoff.

Shallan is again a perfect example.

book 1. reveals at the end she killed a certain person. Came out of nowhere.

book 2. ending reveals how she did it, but also that she killed someone else.

book 3. she does a good thing, but this thing horribly backfires, but we get no hint of it doing so before the very ending of that storyline when there were plenty of space to hint at the twist before the reveals comes.

book 4. reveals she Killed ANOTHER person in her backstory.

None of these events are illogical... but NONE of them are handled with the kind of care to make the spectacular twists where you can go back and see how her backstory twists flows into another the way Martin might have.

Brandon's mysteries and reveals often work... but they are rarely outstanding. and when they are bad... They feel like Slop you gulp down to get to the much tastier desert(The character bits where he actually shines).

He has other problems as a writer as well, such as clear lack of confidence in many things(Shallan book 1 wouldnt be half as bad if he didnt constantly have characters tell us how witty she is, and her argument with Kalading during the Chasm period needs him to lose, so the man loses 20 IQ points or more to let her dominate him in debate), an ultimate lack of resolve of keeping Stormlight a medieval dark fantasy story with heroic characters(The same kind of dynamic that Dragon Age Origins, best RPG ever made had) and instead is slowly losing a lot of elements that kept it dark, while making it feel a lot more contemporary, but as these dont relate to the slop argument, i wont get too into those here.

Been thinking about Zane because ive seen your posts and asks so this might be word salad, but to me Zane's always been a very calculated guy, his instances of violence tend to come out of necessity (in regards to his evil ass plots). That probably isn't worded the best but stick with me here

The best couple examples I can think of are when we first meet him, he threatens Aphmau + her village multiple times because he needs garroth to come back with him, like in Molly's house and outside the baby shower, its not that he doesn't enjoy causing violence (he clearly does), but he'd rather avoid it if possible because it causes issues for him - hes a guy in power, particularly iirc he was representing okhasis which atp was becoming a quiet monarchy and political fuck ups could, well, fuck him up. Another instance of this "necessary" violence was with jeffery, another political murder. Again, he enjoyed it, but he probably wouldnt have done it if jeffery didnt fuck up his plans and let aphmau and the lords go.

All in all, he was a very threatening guy, yeah, but he didn't like. go out of his way to do violent or cruel things no matter how fun or easy he found it to do, he was very smart.

i think a lot of people misremember how he was because of the s1 finale, the whole threatening to rip Aphmau apart line really stuck with people, but the way i view it was a moment of desperation (plus we dont know how the relic forms fuck with the wielders emotions, but idk how I feel about that kinda theorizing). Like imagine; Zane, a man who's predispositioned to necessary violence, reaches what could be said is his end goal (or pre-end goal, I don't remember what he was planning on using the relic for? to become some kinda god? irrelevant to me rn) and suddenly its RIPPED from him in an instant - but, there's no witnesses, no potential consequences, if he kills this woman and gets that relic he's got whatever power his mind has come up with, or she kills him and he fucking dies and atp it wouldn't matter to him anyway (side note, still hate that he turns into a shadow knight). of COURSE he's going to lash out, threaten her, threaten to kill her and take what he believes to be rightfully his.

An interesting thing I also noticed, is that after this occurs, his motivations stay ultimately the same when he dies and comes back as a shadow knight - now without support of a whole kingdom, he works in the shadows (haha pun) to get something he wants, and threatens Emmalyn (iirc it was emmalyn???? I could be wrong, we're saying its emmalyn) for it, holding her hostage away from the village, not bringing her out as a display or a hostage to get what he wants from the people, it'd blow his cover.

tl;Dr - Zane's violence and cruelty throughout the series is very calculated, he doesn't act without knowing (or having a good idea of) what the outcome is, and is really only shown to be excessively or "needlessly" violent when he hits a moment of deep, deep desperation and even then I imagine he had a good idea of what would happen afterwards, and decided to go through with the action whether it succeeded or not.

Thinking about what would happen to the digidestined if they ended up dying in the Digiworld, which of course means I have to think about Kouichi

Just. Imagine the end of Frontier but Kouichi just. Doesn’t make it. He dies from that fall and he dies sacrificing himself to save his brother. That would just be, so entirely fucked up for these kids to go through, especially Kouji (now that the others would be fine either, just yk. Not loosing a brother bad)

Like, Kouji coming back to his home, slamming the door behind him and stomping up to his room, the fact that it’s his dad’s and step-mom’s anniversary completely forgotten

Kousei’s obviously mad. He thought that for at least one day Kouji would try to play nice with his new mother, but nope, he’s gone all day with no explanation and walks straight past the both of them with no remorse. Of course, he doesn’t realize the true gravity of the situation, but he still marches right up those stairs after his son, Satomi following soon behind him, though not as mad about the whole thing. Just, worried

Kousei knocks furiously at the door, demanding to be let inside, or at least have an actual conversation about his behavior, Satomi stands still only halfway up the steps, just wanting to know if Kouji’s okay, knowing he’d probably never tell her

After a while, Kouji gets angry and slams the door back open, a furious expression on his face with red, puffy eyes indicating that he had been crying. In fact, there were still tears at the edges of his eyes

It takes Kousei by surprise, but he quickly shakes his head and starts lecturing Kouji about acting like that on their anniversary day. That he knows that Kouji isn’t the happiest with Satomi, but he needs to get over his mother’s death, after all Kouji didn’t even know her and it was time to move on

But then Kouji says, not exactly quietly, but with a shaky and sharp voice he asks, “Why didn’t you tell me I had a brother?”

Then suddenly the ball was in Kouji’s court, because Kousei certainly wasn’t expecting that. He stutters a bit trying to readjust himself to this new topic, but Kouji’s already blowing up at him

WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME I HAD A BROTHER? WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME THAT MOM WAS ALIVE? THAT SHE WAS DEAD IN THE FIRST PLACE WHEN ALL THAT REALLY HAPPENED WAS A DIVORCE? WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME THAT I WAS A TWIN?!

Kousei has no fucking clue on how to respond to this, but it ends up with Kouji getting so frustrated that he pushes Kousei away with all his might, right into the doorframe

Kouji is slightly mortified by his own strength for a moment, seeing how much pain his dad seems to be in, but he quickly pushes past that and charges for the door, pushing Satomi out of his way too

(Not as hard as his dad though. Kouji didn’t actually want to hurt them. He was just so hurt himself, and Satomi really wasn’t that bad. Not to mention he didn’t want anymore accidents on stairs anytime soon. Or at all)

He ends up grabbing his Kendo stick, just for that small bit of comfort that comes with being able to properly defend himself as his dog barks at him as he leaves.

He’s running, but not really sure where to. Just. Away. While running he pulls out his phone and send out a message to the other Warriors. (They had exchanged numbers at the hospital. A way to keep in touch.) The only ones who could know how he feels. (They can’t. They didn’t loose a brother before he got to know him. At least, that’s what Kouji thinks)

The others would love to have him stay, but it was J.P. who actually had the room for him. Apparently J.P.’s parents got home really late, if at all most nights, so if Kouji just wanted to be away from people, his place was his best bet.

It was a ways away. Not like that mattered to Kouji.

solo by future, for sure. you can just listen to it and be like "yeah, thats miles." especially the lyrics, "i been solo now, i've been goin solo now". reminds me when he says "nah, ima do my own thing" in the movie.

her way by partynextdoor. this song feels like a song he'd play while he's drawing (coughs, drawing gwen for the 70th time) the lyrics, "She wasn't on a roll, now she roll with a winner" reminds me of gwen n miles cuz at first, when they met, it was kind of just the two of em, but now she's out with the spider society (well, she was) with hobie and patvir, "rollin with winners."

miles + brent faiyaz = perfection. needed portrays miles when he finds out about his friends' betrayal perfectly. "you and your friends, rammed my name to the ground." makes you think about the scene where he realises they knew what would happen to his father all along.

infrunami by steve lacy. ive seen this on tiktok too many dayum times not to include it lmaoo gwen and miles. every word of that song screams gwen and miles, but esp "can you come back to me? cuz I was blind to see that you were right infront of me." just remember that scene where miles was upside down infront of gwen and moved closer to kiss her but didnt cuz he was invisible? yeah, those exact lyrics match that exact moment and we ALL know it!

I almost forgot that I was a Magica De Spell blog so

New Magica story next week. (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Im not sure what to think of this tbh. Cause this seems like its going to be a gag story. De Feo hasn’t even written a single 30 pager yet I believe. And like cool, sick. Shorter stories of Magica just goofing around like in the golden age of Sarda (golden age is probably too dramatic but it sounds nice) is great. But i also kind of wanted the big long Magica stories trend to continue too

If were only having 1 or 2 Magica comics each year i’d rather not have it be Amelia e l'in$olito depo$ito you know what i mean.

I hoped that with seven volcanic witches we would finally slowly see her character evolve past the dime.

In I TL 3451-1P and I TL 3454-6 the dime wasnt the main point of the story anymore. That was cool and the stories were good as well.

Then we got Gastone lo sfortunato

Which (while disappointing for poor Magicstone shippers) again was showing us that she might slowly be realizing what is actually important for her. That these lessons would be repeated until it finally hits and she gets to move on.

Btw on the Egmont side, writer Gaute Moe seems to really try this as well. He has made like 5 stories about Magica who gives up on the dime and often just gives it back. Not even out of solidarity like in older Italian stories but just because she feels bad. It’s a bit silly but i respect it. Gaute Moe is our hero for Magica characterization at Egmont okay? He tries his best to keep up with Italy.

Oh yeah Italy. The lampada bisestile had really great Magica use and had zero dime mention. Then the PK story was pretty bad. Now we have seemingly a gag story about a scheme for the dime so like ehhhhhh im not sure what to think of this.

Yeah i managed to write this much about a single title and one name. I needed to do something for all the not posting about Magica ive been doing lately.

Anyways this is just speculation maybe De Feo will blow us all away with his gag. I shouldnt assume anything. Thats bad. Im gonna assume that its gonna be good. Wait no i mean. Im not gonna assume anything. I jist wanted to talk about recent Magica developments. New Magica story next week. Lets just get excited about it. There is no reason to assume that her development is not gonna continue what am i saying. Also i know that 7 volcanic witches gave her a better reason to keep going after the dime but also it didnt at the same time so like i dont know.
