how does one know that they'll meet their soulmate today?

this question has piqued kazuha's interest for as long as he could remember ever since he was but a child. people would say there's a feeling that they'll meet their soulmate on that day, a feeling that's quite similar as the feeling of death coming close on that day.

just how does one know if they'll meet their soulmate instead of death?

the samurai wasn't fond of burdening himself with questions such as those. instead, he decides to put those thoughts in his haikus.

it wasn't until he came across to the resistance when the feeling began to appear.

he assumed it was the sudden feeling of death coming close to him– after all, he is about to face the shogunate's army with the reinforcements of the resistance.

kazuha didn't mind dying to this battle. at least he could die a hero.

whilst the others were busy fighting other soldiers alongside kujou sara, kazuha's eyes were set on the right-hand person of kujou sara, who is staring at gorou and the traveler with the intent of killing them.

he brings out his sword and starts running after you, who quickly noticed him as soon as he came closer to your figur–

"you must be kaedehara kazuha." he suddenly stopped his tracks, taken back by surprise from what you just said.

oh gods.

you assumed he was shocked from how you knew him, yet you pay no mind to his paused movement, thinking it'll be easier to defeat him at his shocked trance. "how bold of you to come back to inazuma after that stunt you pulled. did you forget that you're still a wanted cr–"

"so this is is the feeling," he said out loud, his eyes brightening at the fateful encounter. he could now understand what everyone meant when they answered the question he's been wondering for a long time.

the battle around the both of you has been long forgotten as kazuha slowly sheathes his weapon, much to your dismay. "i refuse to fight against you."

your eyebrows went furrow. "you're.. you're giving up on this fight? are you insane?!" how could this man be so easily put his sword down from the fact that his opponent is his soulmate?

"i would rather die than having to kill my destined other." he replied nonchalantly.

you scoff in disbelief, now unsure what to do. could love really make people be so... bold with their actions?

"just get out from my sight." you said, looking away from the samurai's direction as you try to look for sara. "if i ever see you in the battlefield next time, i won't hesitate to kill you. got that?"

kazuha opens his mouth to protest, only for you to immediately ran away to help your superior without letting him speak, leaving him standing there with a helpless look on his face.

"...may we meet again next time." he mumbles before he brings out his weapon again and starts fighting the nearest soldier.

it didn't take long until the battle ended, resulting sara retreating from the battle with her soldiers following whilst looking at you questionably.

"what happened back there with the samurai?" she asks.

you couldn't help but glance back at where the resistance are, your heart thumping at the memory of your encounter with kazuha.

"it's nothing that concerns you."
