Oh, man. This gif actually made me cry a little bit.
When The Princess And The Frog came out, I was still getting my hair relaxed and later, flat ironed. I flat ironed my hair once a month from 1999 until 2020 when the pandemic forced me to do my hair at home ...which also meant not ironing it. No braiding like it used to be when I was little either. Because I have no idea what I'm doing and am extremely tender headed, I can't really do braids or many other protective hair styles. What you see is what you get. It's wash and gos, or nothing.
So that meant that for the first time, the first time in my entire life I actually saw my hair in its natural state. No heat, no relaxers, no irons, nothing. And I liked it. After finally figuring out the right products that worked for me, I loved it. I had no idea my hair, the way it naturally looked, was ever this nice.
I washed my hair about three hours ago and it was terrible. Wash day is always terrible. It's sensory hell, I'm exhausted from standing in the shower, detangling took forever, and it'll take another three hours to air dry. I can't quickly run a brush through my hair every morning and instead need to carefully finger-comb and hydrate the curls, which takes at least twenty minutes if I want to do it right. But you know what else? It's still worth it.
Seeing Tiana with my exact hair pattern and almost the same length, like. That's MY hair now, too. Feels good, man.
Brazilian hair care company Seda released a new product starring Tiana in her loose hair glory!
(The lady in the photo with Eudora and James apparently is Alcione, a very famous Brazilian singer!)
