Finally, but unfortunately, I can't exactly say I have any chapter 2 predictions, honestly! All I've been thinking about is how the hell Teruko is gonna come back from this one, in terms of ykno,,, interacting with her classmates again, considering what a hasty rift she's already dug into the game and between everyone and herself. Although, I suppose it would be good timing for everyone else to trauma bond together with Teruko left out? Bc I just imagine she's isolating herself, she had quite a nasty breakdown after all HAHA. But I dunno... I haven't thought about it too hard, and don't have a full grasp on Teruko's character yet, we'll just have to wait and see 👁️👁️

[In reference to your second Hostilestuck post] If it were just someone's random creepypasta that'd be perfectly fine and harmless fun but sending graphic descriptions to complete randos honestly speaks to some kind of clear irresponsibility, is the problem. Especially when an argument can be made that the descriptions are more graphic than the images themself, because with that amount of detail your brain is likely to start filling it in more. You can't really make an argument that those descriptions work as any kind of litmus test for the content in question when that's the case (I was substantially more nauseated by the description of what happened to Eridan than I was by any of the revealed panels, which have substantially more warnings surrounding them). It's as easy as giving a vague 1-2 word description of what the content contains and then saying "I can go into more detail if you're interested / you can handle it" because if someone says no to that then they probably won't be interested at all anyways. It feels more like the users being sent these asks are being used as a platform in general and while that's not a new idea for ARGs it is without any warning or consideration as to who it's being sent to. A good ARG isn't something you just shove in peoples' hands, the audience actively pursues it after the lead is out there (whether that's solving puzzles or actively choosing to watch when it posts) and thereby is much more prepared to face the content when they find it because they're already going to be cautious. I don't think it's damned to be bad or anything if the person doing it wises up a little but as it stands you're right there is absolutely problem with its marketing. I do kinda hope it's just some kid and they learn from this. (sorry for such a long ask I was gonna put it in the tags but I didn't want to nuke you from there, you don't have to post/reply to this I just needed to get it out)

Don’t apologize, I genuinely agree with you, and sometimes you can only properly get your thoughts out with a lot of words. If you’ve been here long enough, you’d know that I understand the need for wordiness completely, lol. You guys are gonna be getting new Nekro lore here, because I’m gonna start speaking from experience.

I definitely agree that the image descriptions are significantly more graphic than… The images themselves. Honestly, when I saw the supposed “Resurfaced Panels,” I was kind of… Disappointed? Like… Really, really disappointed, actually. I thought that, considering how hyped up this was, how the alleged comic itself was described, and how people were calling it “super gory,” it’d be, well… Actually gory. The actual images themselves aren’t that bad at all- the blood isn’t convincing, the trauma isn’t convincing, the images don’t have much of a sense of carnality.

It’s very stiff, very impersonal, and it doesn’t seem to understand itself or what it’s going for very well. It’s just kind of… There. It’s a little amateur- not that there’s anything wrong with that at all, I actually fucking love amateur art, it just kind of shows that whoever is making this doesn’t really “get” what they’re going for, and they don’t know how to actually deliver the same intensity that they’re writing about. At least, not in drawn form. No shame in that- everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, and this can arise even in the depiction of the same idea by the same person. Some are simply better at writing out their ideas than drawing them. There’s a reason why some things are Books, some are Comics, some are TV Shows, some are Movies, some are Songs, and some are a Painting Collection.

Sending such graphic, visceral descriptions to random people- people who aren’t even known to be horror fans or gorehounds!- totally unprompted and without any warning is, as you said, wildly irresponsible… At best. It’s genuinely a pretty shitty thing to do. My honest assumption is that this is someone who is either still in their teens, has zero sense of boundaries, or both.

None of these things spell out good things for any potential ARG, and this is me speaking as someone who has literally worked as a writer and team manager for one for an entire existing company!! How are you going to act as a proper GM if you have no boundaries? How are you supposed to maintain the curtain? How are you supposed to cultivate a good, healthy audience if your advertisement consists of shoving very unsavory content into unconsenting people’s faces en masse?! Jesus!! I really do hope that, if this is some kind of ARG pitch, whoever is running the game matures a little and/or backs out. From what I can see of this, this is way out of their scope.

You know how an ARG works well, that’s exactly how it’s supposed to function. Again, consent. I don’t think anything is truly “damned to be bad,” especially with regards to art, but the way the current trajectory looks, this seems like it’s going to spiral, and it’s going to spiral hard. The Players for this (alleged) ARG- the “Sleuths”- definitely seem to also be taking this too far, and those who aren’t in the active Player Base kind of… Really aren’t taking this seriously, because everything about this situation so far has been astronomically ridiculous. It’s going to lose most of its spotlight very quickly, I think- this audience really isn’t built to last.

I’m gonna cautiously keep an eye on this thing. Again, as an ex-GM for a corporate ARG, this absolutely doesn’t look like it’s going to end well. Not to be that pretentious, egotistical asshole who thinks he’s uniquely qualified to read these kinds of situations, but I think I’m uniquely qualified to read this kind of situation. If I’m wrong, then hell fucking yes, I love a good underdog victory… But I don’t think that’ll happen.

This marketing fucking sucks. Everyone behind it needs to go in the Time-Out Corner and remember that people on the internet are, in fact, real people, and that they have boundaries, too. If you cultivate this kind of audience with no sense of boundaries, you’re in for an absolutely fucking hellish time. Trust me, I’ve been there. Hell to pay, if you’re gathering a crowd of that kind of person on purpose, man. Hell to fuckin’ pay.

I'm babysitting a machine at work today, so I'm gonna pass the time by disscussing more DBSSH spoilers. Well, first I gotta figure out how to put a read-more cut on mobile...

Yeah, there we go.

Okay, so I talked about Cell Max last night and I got so focused on him that I forgot to discuss anything else. Sorry, but Cell is objectively the coolest character, so even an off-brand Cell takes priority in a movie like this.

This time, let's talk about the lore that gets sprinkled throughout the movie. It's not the main focus, and they probably could have edited a lot of it out and made the movie tighter and more efficient, but it's better this way. The old movies worked that way, just dumping viewers into Dragon World with scarcely any introduction to the characters, but the 21st century Dragon Ball movies are events. They need to be long and have plenty of fanservice (not the sexy kind), and that's what we've been getting. Tidbits like finding out Vegeta is "Vegeta the Fourth" is half the fun, I say. So let's take a look at what we have here.

One bit I liked was how Videl said she teaches a martial arts class of some sort. I think she called it a "combat training course" in the dub, so it sounds a little different from a classic dojo, like the one Tien ran in the DBS anime, but it's the same basic idea. For years, fans have complained about Videl moving away from the badass crimefighter she was in high school. My feeling has always been that nobody is the same person they were in high school, and if Videl wants to settle down and be a housewife, that's a valid choice for the character to make. But I never understood the assumption that Videl stopped fighting. For all we know she's kicking ass off-screen. Well, it turns out that she's teaching other people how to kick ass, which is the next best thing. Maybe she still fights crime, I don't know, but I think it's important not to put her in a box. Just because her recent appearances always involve her taking care of Pan doesn't mean that's all she does.

They threw in a line to lampshade Goten and Trunks' growth spurt. According to Gohan, all Saiyan children are like this, staying small for a while, then suddenly shooting up like weeds. I think that's been the fan consensus for some time, because that's how it was for Goku and Gohan, but DBS really strained credibility by having the boys look and act so young for so long. At least the franchise is acknowledging the issue.

On a related note, it's nice to see they remembered to keep Dende looking like an adult. I'm pretty sure there were Buu Saga episodes that screwed this up, so you never can tell with that guy. I liked how Piccolo considered asking Dende to awaken his hidden power the same way Guru did for Krillin and Gohan. And Dende explains that he can't because he's not old enough to perform the technique, which neatly explains why no one has tried this before. Then he proposes modifying the Dragon to do it instead, and Piccolo's like, I didn't know that was possible, and apparently it wasn't possible back when Kami was in charge of Shenron, but Dende knows tricks that must have been innovated since Kami came to Earth.

However, now that this has been established, they need to account for any other character who can take advantage of the power boost. Krillin and Gohan have already undergone the process, but apparently Shenron's version is more potent than Guru's, so maybe it's worth doing again? But besides that, this would be a handy way for Tien and Yamcha to "catch up", if they ever plan to use those characters more seriously.

On Beerus's planet, Vegeta is seen meditating, which he explains is his attempt to duplicate Jiren's awesome strength from the Tournament of Power. He reasons that Jiren wasn't actually that much stronger than himself or Goku, but he dominated the ToP because he had such precise ki control, only bringing it to bear at the exact moment when it was needed. Something like that. I'm not sure if this is meant to lead into Ultra Ego or some other form, but it's cool to see some explanation of why Jiren was so Different from the others, and that it's possible for other characters to beat him.

And that's what I mean when I say they could have trimmed down the movie if they wanted to. Vegeta's barely in this movie, and he's about as far removed from the action as he can be, so we don't really need to check up on him at all, much less hear him analyze Jiren, a character who doesn't appear in the movie whatsoever. But it still awesome to get this sort of footage anyway, and without a TV series, they don't have anywhere else to put it. The manga, sure, but it's got to move a lot faster than a movie like this. Again, the movie is an event, and Vegeta's observations are part of the icing on the cake.

But of course, the biggest lore contribution relates to the Red Ribbon Army. We learn Magenta is the son of Commander Red, which is fairly predictable for a story like this, but what surprised me was the revelation that Colonel Violet is his mother. Did anyone else catch that? There was a shot of Magenta's desk and he had framed photos of Red and Violet, so I think the implication is very clear. I'm not sure how those two ended up together, but it adds a new dimension to that scene where Red watches Violet raid the safe before she deserts her post.

Also, we learn Magenta's been running Red Pharmacuetical Corporation, which was a front for the Red Ribbon army all along. After Goku wiped out the RRA, the RPC carried on, but they also funded Dr. Gero's scheme in DBZ. This is awesome stuff, because I always envisioned Gero as a lone wolf trying to avenge an organization no one else cared about, but the RPC is a much more intriguing idea.

We also see the first canon reference to Gero's wife and son. Toriyama revealed in an interview that #16's design was based on Gero's son, but I don't think that ever got used in a story until now. While Magenta and Carmine go over their plan, there's a graphic of Hedo's family tree, and a 16-lookalike is identified as Gero's son, named "Gevo".

Likewise, Gero's wife is named "Vomi", and she's a dead ringer for #21 from FighterZ. I'm unclear about whether #21 is Vomi in an android body or just an homage like #16, but I find myself suddenly much more interested in the character.

I already wrote about the idea of Gero's Cell data being in the hands of the RPC, but I guess that's true for all of his other android projects too. The thought occurred to me that this is probably where all the android/cyborg/bioweapon characters in Dragon Ball Heroes must have come from. Sure, it looked like Magenta and all his goons got killed in the movie, but the RPC probably has offices all over the world, and a robust succession plan. And even if the company collapses, the data could still leak and other aspiring geniuses might try to reproduce Gero's work. So that's a cool idea.

🦎 + EXTREMELY predictable question from me, but what do you think makes a good transformation in DBZ- design-wise and narrative-wise?

[Gotta get the DBZ questions in and I always welcome them. Ask Nebula and Lea; I can talk about this dumbass series for hours (sorry guys).

I can't say I've given this much DEEP thought. I can say without a doubt that SS4 was the best transformation this series has done TO DATE for a million reasons, and does hit a lot of notes that i feel a good transformation in this series should. First, the look alone is TIGHT and interesting to look at. They even made it VARY for each character which I think is HELLA NEAT and just wish there was like an explanation for it (i.e. why vegeta's eyes are blue and goku's yellow? Red fur vs pink fur? Etc.). We got tails again, fur, different eye and fur colors, long hair without going overboard (don't get me wrong; i actually don't mind SS3 TOO much, but it wasn't peak transformation design by any means), and TIDDIES OUT (which isn't a requirement but I definitely enjoy that personally). It is somehow over the top while not being too much all at once and it just WORKS.

It also dove back into the roots of the Saiyan race and the Oozaru form in both appearance and lore which is absolutely *chef's kiss.* I love that the form sank back into OG Saiyan lore while offering something unique and different from what we had already seen in SS to SS3. Barring the stupid ass way Vegeta gets it (don't talk to me I will never not be mad about it ok), Goku had to get his tail back--cringe as that scene is fuck--transform into the Golden Great Ape, AND find a way to control it and harness that power to achieve a new level of power. It also didn't just fully rely on the sort of "get angy" narrative (even if it IS a little deeper than that in actuality) that had sort of driven other transformations while as I said bringing back Saiyan roots. Don't talk to me about thr U6 saiyans on this either gfdi

So, taking that as the example, I guess my answer would be a look that's more interesting than a pallette change like they have been doing with most transformations of late along with the form tying into the lore or background of the character in both appearance and how it's achieved/how it works. They kind of half ass tried the last bit with SSG by retroactively making it a part of Saiyan lore (that Vegeta didn't know but the Namekians did? Make it make sense), but it definitely just...doesn't work. Plus the ritual they have to use (which also makes no sense for Saiyans and clashes with what we know of them, which is MAYBE the point but doesn't make it cute or unique or creative) becomes obsolete by the next arc/movie so...yeah. It's incredibly flimsy and there is no real understanding of what SSG and its subsequent forms even ARE, let alone what god ki even is. Is SSG actually an inherently Saiyan form, or is it just a Saiyan that has harnessed god ki and then transformed while using it? There is nothing clearly defined about the forms (or really even UI and UE, Frieza's forms, etc.) that makes them interesting or feel fleshed out or related to the characters as a whole. It's just.. oh, he's blue now I guess? Kay.

Plus like...give me crazy shit again. Like Cooler's fifth form? Fuck yeah, cool as shit. Cell's transformations? Even clown boi is intriguing and makes you go wtf Gero? Hideous as Super "He Stole My 'Do" 13 is, it's INTERESTING (and again, wtf Gero). Even FRIEZA'S transformations were interesting and looked really neat and felt organic until its just..."lol I picked gold to mock super saiyan haha stupid monkeys" (that form looks stupid BTW Fite me). What's his excuse for Black Frieza? We gonna get edgy emo Frieza who says he chose black like his soul? Heck. I'll give them props because they KIND OF tried design wise with Ultra Ego, but it still lacks real intrigue in that department and has the same disconnect and 🤷‍♀️ feeling the rest of the newer forms have.]

I wanna talk about the Space Invaders moviry

Because hardly anyone is speaking about it ever since there was the announcement of it getting a new writer. Surprisingly this film has been in the works since 2015 actually.

That's right the classic arcade game Space Invaders is being adapted into a film.

Especially this Greg Russo guy wrote for the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot and other video movie adaptations coming soon.

I got distracted by other stuff which is why I didn't talk about this immediately. To be honest I might have played Space Invaders but it must of been when I was very young. Yet I forgot but I feel I have no experience so I can't say much.

Yet I looked at the game and through YouTube, including Wikipedia but I didn't wanna look through much. But I know of the disliked remake Space Raiders and just looked at that a bit on Wikipedia. But I've looked through this before all this or just the original stuff.

From what I see and know.....Space Invaders is a game with no lore but you have the game play and how it's described.

I just find this very intriguing a game like Space Invaders is getting a film adaptation.

But another arcade classic even got a film adaptation, and it's one I love. That film is Rampage.

Listen I personally love the Rampage movie. Including while they're are some pieces of well I don't know if should call them lore.

Rampage wasn't a story based game. There was hardly any story. Yet the movie used that to it's advantage. Because there was hardly anything to mess up. Unless your a hardcore fan but really the certain changes they made, make sense, and I overall loved the movie. Because they made it work. I'm sorry if I'm not making sense.

Here's the point I'm trying to make, if Rampage can work as a movie, then Space Invaders probably could as well.

Because again from what I know Space Invaders doesn't have a story or huge lore. That can be used as an advantage for this movie. Unless the writer really digs into the past of Space Invaders.

I wanna tell you guys this, I'm weirdly an advocate for video game movies. Because I'm all for making movies based upon video games good or great. I've enjoyed the first Mortal Kombat movie, Tomb Raider 2018, Rampage 2018, and Detective Pikachu.

Including I weirdly feel movie adaptations based upon arcade games with not much lore or story could work. You just need to find the right writer, and have it relate to the game, and make sense for the story.

Especially when you look at it, now I'm getting better at explaining this. If you didn't play the games, you could just see it as another alien invasion film. But it's actually based upon a arcade classic.

It's kind of weirdly perfect. Again it depends on the writer. I remember when I first heard this on Tumblr and I'm surprised it's not getting more coverage. I mainly mean like videos such as from someone the likes of Andre of Black Nerd Comedy.

But it makes me wonder and it's still in the writing process. Who would be the leading role. That's silly to think about but I wanted to share this.

Chris Pratt.(I'm sorry if I mention him a lot, I just love him)

John Boyega.

Jason Statham.(I'm weirdly with this too such as that first part)

Jake Gyllenhaal.(I was disappointed by Spider-Man Far From Home. Yet I found him to be excellent. I've seen Rocket Boys, and The Day After Tomorrow, and seen a little bit of Prince Of Persia)

Chris Evans.

Mena Massoud.

Kit Harrington.(After he gets better seriously hope he feels better)

Keanu Reeves.

Whoever of age or race or gender.

The reason I'm not eating Dwayne Johnson is because even though I love him as an actor or person. The man is in too much shit. Besides he's in Rampage too. Justice Smith has Pokemon, and Jason Momoa has that Just Cause movie.

Listen we don't have a finished script yet. But it will be very interesting to see the final result.

I gonna go just give me your thoughts. I'm interested in what the aliens will look like though.
