#i read this because WYL recommended it during the workshop#but it wasn't my favourite book honestly#i feel that it was too unsubtle for my tastes but i guess some people are into that?#in terms of the political tenor of it it reminded me a lot of disorientation by elaine hsieh chou/yellowface by rf kuang#books that i didn't particularly enjoy#in terms of the horror it reminded me a lot of porpentine's short stories but i like porpentine a lot more#um because a lot of it wasn't particularly shocking to me tbh#like. wow you were on /tttt/ come i clap for you#sorry that sounded snarky but yeah i didnt find it very scary and it didn't really say anything politically that wasn't FASCISTS ARE BAD!!!#i feel like this could change someone's life. unfortunately that person isn't me#and that's ok#i have slightly higher hopes for brainwyrms bc abigail thorn said that one was good
