Week 2 of @ttpdpoetryweek
Prompt: Willow (also heavily inspired by the story of Orpheus and Eurydice)
Your riddles like poetry, The willow branches like vines, I will play you sweet music, I will beg with every line. I’ve cheated at every step, But the rules are never clear, My plans were already wrecked, As I turn to find you here. I do not see when the snake strikes, Or the blood that pours from old scars, The willow stands as your headstone, And clouds gather to block out the stars. I will go where you wander, You work of art, you poem, You are more me than myself, I would let this cut me open. The roots are a road that lead me down, As my bones become water, In every version does this happen? Turning, I bless this slaughter.
