Ooo good post! About “hikaru” I thought it was strange that if he was the lord brain snatcher why doesn’t he seem to remember replacing people before? And why didn’t he get emotions from snatching people before? Your post is making me think more that he is the brain snatcher but I had my own theory before that he was actually just being mistaken for it by the others.

Also I wonder if the brain snatcher only replaces boys since hikarus dad mentions that all the girls he rejected ended up fine.

You might actually be unto something with this. Maybe 'Hikaru' is not the brain snatcher, and just coincidentally shifted into the people world as the brain snatcher. you see, there's that six months space wher Hikaru wasn't neither the real Hikaru, but neither the real 'Hikaru'. (he keeps saying in the begining that he has memories of those experiences, but he has never experienced them, like the food or the movie, and i wonder if they really didn't see that cat at all in those 6 months that it reacts scared like that out of the blue, or eaten that tonkatsu or watched that movie they've seen 5 times) and then, the weird incidences start happening only during summer, so during those 6 months 'hikaru' was hidden inside the real hikaru's body would mean he wasn't there on the mountain to block this stuff (in case he is indeed responsible for keeping the yokais away)

tbh in my atheist opinion, he doesn't have memories of that because memories belong in a brain and not a soul. so once he changes bodies, and this brains, he doesn't move with the memories that stacy locked in thre previous host crane, he only occupies the next shell and makes do with what's there

there's something weakening the tori bareer, as they were talking, and thus the stuff kept on the mountain started to shift into the people world, but again, that six months space...

(also i don't really know what to think about who killed the old woman, i wouldn't say 'hikaru' bcs he seems innocent, but we've seen him capable to act violent, only holding back for yoshiki that he loves, also there's that sketch of him consuming prey in the oneshot so it's possible)

i don't know if the brain snatcher replaced anyone actually, they didn't go like "it's happening again", it's more like "it can happen but we must stop it" and now that it is happening those 4 men will most likely find out about 'hikaru' and do something abt him. (it can be possible that 'hikaru' kills one of them if that's the case)

maybe he didn't replace them as his father did not love them (he said he rejected them, so there aren't any feelings involved for him) unlike hikaru that cares for yoshiki

but really curious, maybe 'hikaru' is another spirit and not that big bad boy... although 'hikaru' has some sort of history for sure bcs otherwise yoshiki wouldn't have gotten that glimpse of flasback
