Update at End of May

Right, it’s been a while since I gave you guys an update. So I figure I will outline what the schedule looks like for the next slate of projects! On an essential level, things are looking really promising for wrapping up Phase 1 way before the end of the year... but we'll see. It all depends on whether I can be prepared with a good backlog of chapters.

So, here’s the rub:

Widowmaker: This was finished well over a week or so ago, and now it’s probably my biggest fic so far other than Iron Man and Hulk??? Not surprising, since sequels require a lot of context and this is... actually a really good entry point into the series. To that end, I am super happy with it — and will definitely be making more of these novella-length fics that focus on original/interim stories. I think they will balance the other fics with more stakes and more complicated plots, and the one-shots as well.

Thor: That leads me to my current project, Thor! I am in the swing of this, and having a blast — writing Jane, Erik and Darcy has been lots of fun. And I am also writing chapters from Loki's POV which have been really interesting, to say the least... hopefully, it's a nice, appropriately tortured perspective. (Can't wait for you Loki lovers to read them. 😉)

Starting in June, I plan to upload chapters regularly every three or four days — and aim to have this fic completed by the end of the month, or somewhere halfway through July. Act I is fully completed out of a planned five, and has seven chapters. As a teaser of what to expect: Act II will have six chapters, Act III will have five, Act IV will have seven and Act V will have eight. (A little uncertain on that last one, but again — we shall see.)

I am really looking forward to you guys seeing where this will go! It will be familiar, I admit. But hopefully, fresh and exciting at the same time, as there will be lots of little changes that might sprout out into big changes... but you will see how it all shapes together when I get back to it in June.

Which leads me to the next project — and the last big one before The Avengers.

Captain America: The First Avenger. Yep, I'm finally getting around to it — and considering how popular Captain America is in particular, I suspect this will find a lot of people. It will be a little dark and gritty, but also with a hint of science fiction that has made this subseries in particular so interesting... but I won't say anymore until it starts getting posted. I'm hoping that will be in the second half of June once I've written enough chapters, and then be completed after July. From then on... we'll see about where Steve Rogers goes next.

As well, I also will be working on two one-shots after both these projects... and one of them will lead directly into Avengers. But I'll talk more about that later. 😁

QuintSum has been finished. What now?

Yes, you read that right. I've finished the first draft of QuintSum. I'm done. I told you, I said I would be, and I finally am! So, what now?

Well, the short answer is that I'm going to release it all on Ao3, but there's a few things to discuss related to that process, because that won't be done in a day either.

How will you release the fic?

First things first:

Chapters 1-28 will be rereleased. Chapter 29 will be uploaded. This will happen first. I will not announce when the chapters are being rereleased, but once I have uploaded chapter 29, which I will announce, you can be sure that the rest of the fic is up to date.

ALSO, IMPORTANT: Remember how I said that you wouldn't need to reread the reuploaded chapters? I lied. You should probably start the fic over from the beginning if you started reading before August 2024. I have changed way more than I ever could've predicted that I would, and it shows. While you're probably going to be able to follow the story, you're probably not going to understand a Solid amount of basic knowledge the characters hold, nevertheless what each character is thinking and why, especially not how we got to this point, if you don't reread the first 28 chapters. But also I'm not your mom you can do whatever you want. But don't say I didn't warn you.

We will go 1-3 releases per remaining arc. Most arcs will be released in two halves, as you can see in the screenshot above. The short explanation is that this means there will be less releases with more chapters. (And don't let the low chapter count fool you, the wordcount goes haywire sooner than you think. The chapters currently average around 4-6k.) There is 135 chapters in total, it would take me over a year to upload this entire thing even if I released two chapters per week. And I don't want to do that. Therefore, I will release them per arc, which is a collection of chapters about the same part of the story, pretty much. Those releases will look as follows:

Arc 5: Chapters 30-34. (One release)

Arc 6: Chapters 35-51. (Two releases)

Arc 7: Chapters 52-59. (One release) (<- Most subject to change, this bitch is a complete mess in terms of chapter length already. Stay tuned to see how I deal with that I guess!)

Arc 8: Chapters 60-84. (Three releases)

Arc 9: Chapters 85-103. (Two releases)

Arc 10: Chapters 104-109. (One release)

Arc 11: Chapters 110-116. (One release)

Arc 12: Chapters 117-135. (Two releases)

I cannot say when these will be uploaded, but this means that there will be 13 releases of new chapters.

Probably. There is always a chance that I will split up the arcs more, because, I don't know if you've noticed, but the second draft is already getting ridiculously long, and these chapters sometimes take me multiple days to get through. I'm a full-time university student currently getting a bachelors, and I'm at least planning on getting a masters going as well, sometimes I just do not have the time to write as much as I really would.

Anyways! This is how it's going to work on My end of things:

I will edit and finalize the chapters in each release, and then upload that entire batch on Ao3 together. This will take however long it may. I have no deadlines and no goals to hit. It'll be done when it's done. Then I will release a post announcing that this arc has been uploaded, with a link to the First chapter in that arc. This will repeat until we reach the last chapters. And then we're done. It is Way less complicated than it sounds, all you need to do, really, is remember that I will release things less consistently, but when I do release, believe me, you will have stuff to read.

How long is this fic?

135 chapters. And the wordcount of the first draft ended up at 280k words. It will probably be a little more on Ao3 because I always add stuff when I revise. So far I'm 100% on track to double the final draft, but don't hold me to that. I'm personally assuming it'll be somewhere between 350-450k words. All my friends think it will be longer. We'll find out who is in the right once it is done. Point is that while I never intended to set the record for the longest fic sorted by word count on Ao3, well, right now it sure is looking like I will do just that. By a lot.

What is important to keep in mind?

Read the tags. I have consistently talked on my main about how the biggest goal of QuintSum has been to "make Elizabeth's death worth it". Third-party sources would agree that I have done just that. In fact, my friends would all claim I've managed to write a by-the-books tragedy. Do with that what you will. Other than that, you can expect pretty standard things from the game. And a few near-death experiences here and there. I will say tho, remember that I rate this story T, that rating speaks louder than Most of the tags. The tags aren't lying, but the severity of it is dictated more than anything by the rating.

Writing Update (July 2024)

Civil Hands - FFXV collab with @crazyloststar

You can find our promo post for this on twitter. I'm really fucking excited about it.

We've drafted 24/36 chapters and did a giant continuity edit through chapter 23 during an in-person writing retreat in May, which was a blast.

We've started commissioning artists for important chapters.

The first chapter is scheduled to go up in the second half of August.

We're on track to finish drafting all chapters by mid-November, though posting will continue through next year.

For Some Desperate Glory - Batman UTRH AU

Shortly after posting chapter two, I realized my timeline was fucked up. Luckily, Bruce has no idea how long he's been locked up, so I don't have to rewrite any existing chapters.

I did have to stop and create official character timelines, and then I had to re-outline chapters 3 through 12. Some things were kept the same, but a lot of stuff got moved around, cut, or re-outlined from a different POV.

I'm actually pretty pleased with how this second outline has turned out. I think it's a stronger story with those revisions, plus there's a bonus hug thanks to bribery from @ghost-bxrd.

I'll try to hammer out chapter three once I'm done with chapter 25 of Civil Hands, but Civil Hands takes priority.

Still untitled Lysithea fic - FF3H post-game fic

No progress made here, though I've jotted down a couple thoughts to swing back to when it's time for revisions.

This is currently my lowest priority and probably won't be actively worked on again until I've cleared the drafts of Civil Hands in November.

You’ve probably had to explain this a hundred times already, but I’m new to your fandom so I’ve likely missed previous explanations. I was just wondering when will you be posting Underline the Silver?

I haven't needed to explain this much at all! But you also might not like the answer I'm afraid, because it's: 'I have no idea' but also 'really not very soon at all.'

It will likely start around the time that Underline the Blue or Underline the Gold come close to finishing, or Underline the Black finishes, which almost certainly puts it into early or mid 2024 at the earliest.

Underline the Red and Underline the Silver will both kick back off around the same time.

I currently have an extremely full slate which is nuts even by my standards. I wrote it out for a friend tonight and:

Underline the Black - 4-5 chapters a month (every Thursday) A Stain that Won't Dissolve - 2-3 chapters a month (every second Sunday) The Nascent Diplomat - 1 chapter a month Constellations - 1 chapter a month (will eventually replace The Nascent Diplomat) Palmarosa - (god help me) 3-4 chapters a month (this is so unsustainable, this is my fault for wanting to write a BG3 fic) Underline the Blue - 2 chapters every few months Underline the Red - as above (but on hiatus for my sanity) Underline the Gold - as above (they all just cycle with each other)

I don't know how to tell you how incredibly nuts this is, but I think I can sum it up as '2-3 stories at the same time used to be where I was most comfortable.'

And this is not 2-3 stories.

I am really really just not going to be able to write anything outside of this, at least until some of these stories finish (and some of THESE stories are on hiatus or minimalistic schedules already), because like...

as much as I like to treat myself like a words machine, I am unfortunately a human person, and I've reached the point of thinking about crying when it comes to keeping even this up.

So yeah Underline the Silver can wait for when I'm excited about new stories again and not dreading them because my current writing slate is 'oh god oh god WHY IS EVERYTHING BURNING' dsakljfdsa

I mean, that's kinda cheating. I've really only written one fandom and one pairing this year. So... I guess Olivia Benson/Elliot Stabler from SVU would be it.

19. What's one pairing you want to explore next year?

To be honest, I'm not going to tempt fate. For several reasons, I stopped writing fic for many years. I do not want to make plans and then not keep up. Right now? I"m happy playing in my little angst box and seeing where that takes me.

If I find a new fandom, or revisit an old one, next year... the more the merrier, but... as of right this very second, I have zero plans. Keep writing my current fics. That's my plan.

29. Favourite line/passage you wrote this year?

Oooooh, this is a good one. Unfortunately, it's also the hardest.

Like, I know there have been lines and passages I've written that, after they're on the page, I have to sit back and go "woah" and then shiver with anticipation until I can post it and hope others pick up on it, too.

But right now? Do you think I can think of any specific circumstances?

Hmm, there's the almost "sex" scene at the end of ch 3 of Wicked Game, from Elliot's POV, where Olivia finally agrees to have sex, and it starts okay, but as the scene progresses, something begins to feel just a little off... untll you as the reader come to the same sickening realisation as Elliot. That was kinda impactful.

There's the underlying sense of doom that Wicked Game brings... it's an unhealthy relationship, but they're both working so hard and you can't help but root for them, but also... the end of S12 looms and you can't help be afraid it's going to come crashing down. It's almost inevitable, but... maybe?... maybe it won't end like that...

I think that serves to work well.

There's a lot of really twisted stuff that I've written in the flashbacks of Deep Deep Down, Where the Darkness Dwells that... to be honest, frighten even me a little. I said to a friend that it's probably a good thing I'm just writing this stuff, because I would be a frightening psychopath.

But, to be honest, most of the impact of my lines/passages come from all the context before it. I have written several hundred thousands words this year.

Wicked Game sits at 128,763. Foolish Game at 15,183 and counting. Deep Deep Down at 100,039 and counting (19 chapters?!?!?!? Who the fuck knew, right? And from a fic I wasn't even going to post to begin with)

And every single word that comes before an impactful, meaningful, or really great line feeds that line/passage.

yep! only one and it was a cross between the old guard and leverage and it was such a fun time actually

i won't really do it unless it's just a few words. i did it in a book of nile fic a while back, but i kept it to a few french phrases that i could translate in text.

the first fandom i ever posted fic for was the librarians. i actually wrote some doctor x rose stuff that never went beyond the privacy of my own docs.

Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project

I'm so excited about writing so many things!! I think the things I'm mostly excited for are the ending of my bartender AU, because it's cute af and because I want to post it already, and the next (last?) chapter of WWD (I've started it, but the part I'm most excited about is the end).

What character that you’re writing do you most identify with?

Probably Wille in... well, anything I write lol. The insecurities, welp.

I also love writing DRUK2 Lawrie (Lawrence), deeply relatable.

What character do you have the most fun writing?

Probably Pippa and Ginny in any DRUK2 fic, because they're completely unpredictable.

What do you think are the characteristics of your personal writing style? Would others agree?

I would love if someone could tell me, actually. I think I write a lot of dialogues and they feel quite natural. I don't know if people agree, but I sure hope so.

Because these little fuckers live rent free inside my mind and keep role-playing and won't leave me the fuck alone until I write down the things they're up to in there.

5. What’s the fic you’re most proud of?

I feel especially proud whenever I finish a long fic. I think Always Starting Over is one of them, but lately also Don't You Forget About Me. I'm also really proud of That's what you get (when you let your heart win), even though I haven't finished that one yet.

6. What element of writing do you find comes easily?

The dialogues, for sure. Especially those among friends, the ones that are just for fun and don't necessarily move the plot. But even the angsty ones, yes, normally come naturally. These fuckers won't shut up in my head, I'm just typing what they're saying.

7. What element of writing do you struggle with most?

Descriptions, ooof! Especially when it comes to describing what the characters are feeling. I can do it, but I always feel like it's not eep enough.

Good news, I got the the code of Ch 1 ! Hooray! It's A LOT, big respect to @blacktabbygames ! Haven't got the time to look into the whole thing but I might in my free time.

We also have fun messing with the settings, where the narrator's "She will lie, she will..." get cut of by my lazy translation of "meow meow meow...". Though my voice doesn't fit so I won't be posting it, well until it fit.

It's really interesting how they are aware what have happened! And "everyone hates you" is somehow my favourite ending, I like to imagine the long quiet getting beat up by the voices.

To be honest I'm not sure what "voice gets around" means since English isn't my mother tongue, it's a foreign phrase for me.

I am quite new to Ghost and have only started being able to tell which ghoul is which on stage but I was wondering, does each papa have different ghouls ? Who is Ares ?. I hope this question isn't too much of a bother :)

welcome to Ghost, anon! <333 questions like these are never a bother. I'm honestly honored that a few people have asked me questions about the Papas and the Ghouls. I wanna say I'm gonna keep this... decently short, but knowing me, that won't be the case.

Ghost is a very... special case. if you're looking at fiction, then it's really up to the author/artist on how they want to interpret the ghouls. for me, I have it that every Papa summoned their own ghoul, though Copia (Papa IV and the current Papa) had taken/adopted/borrowed some of Terzo's (Papa III) ghouls.

but looking at the irl side of everything? Alpha, Omega, their first keyboardist and first drummer were in the band from 2010-2016. this would mean that those 4 ghouls would've been with Papas I-III. then we got Aether (our current rhythm guitarist) and Dewdrop/Sodo/Ember/whatever the fuck people wanna call him (at the time bassist in 2016 but moved to lead guitar after Ifrit bailed in... 2018 I think). after that, we were introduced to Rain (current bassist), Swiss (current multi ghoul), Mountain (current drummer), and Cirrus and Cumulus (current keyboardist/backup vocal/the works). and it really depends on how the content creator wants to handle all of this. I've seen it done a few different ways and it's just the beauty of people making content because nothing will ever truly be the same as someone else's. as I've loosely quoted before: "Ghost's creative content is mainly fandom. 5% is actual lore, 10% is what we get from Tobias' interviews, and the other 85% is what the fandom has made up and run with."

there are a few different guides online for which ghoul is which, when they were in the band, what instrument they were on, etc. there is a good tiktok actually by @/cmaraschina where they did something for all 21 ghouls that have been in the band. this does tell you their real names, so be careful if you don't want to unmask the ghouls. however, this is done because... most of the ghouls weren't named until... Era 3 I believe. I know Terzo had introduced Alpha, Omega and Water (which I think was Dewdrop/Sodo) during a show.

as for Ares :)))))

so in Ghost's Chapter 8, we're shown a piece of the past, where a young Papa Nihil performs at Whisky A Go Go, complete with his own ghouls. and honey... I took one look at those ghouls and said "yes, gimme".

Ares (the lead guitarist) is..... these ghouls aren't mine, I just named them and started using them. from what I know, I'm the only person who's currently using Nihil's ghouls and these names I picked out for them. are others using them? I dunno. have people given them different names? I dunno. I've never seen these boys used by anyone else, but it's probably because I'm the only mf that could get 2 seconds of content from characters we know nothing about and decide to obsess over them.

Ares' first appearance in any of my fics was "The Last Night" where he had attacked and subsequently killed the reader. he was unnamed in that fic and was only referred to as... I think "the old fire ghoul" or "Nihil's fire ghoul" and it was supposed to stay that way. then I started talking to a friend and... we got Ares. I was originally going to name him Vulcan, so if you see that name pop up in my older posts, that's why.

all in all, you don't have to worry about seeing those names. Ares, Neptune, Notus, Silvanus and Astraeus you won't need to worry about because, for me, they're Nihil's old ghouls. they're not part of the current or any previous lineup and I think they were just actors for Chapter 8. they're not legit in Ghost

It's my first Tumblrversary!

Wasn't sure what to do here but I wanted to do something, so here's a rundown of all I've accomplished my first year. Including stuff from April 2021 - Sept 2021 because it really wasn't a lot, just two fics. Here we go!

First Fanfiction: Assassin Skills Required; Assassination Classroom fandom with OCs. I still consider this my best work yet, despite it being first.

Best One-shot: Ubisoft; KaruShuu. Based on my kudo percentage. (I'm weird, I have a spreadsheet for this.)

Best series: Kristmas Karma; Assassination Classroom fandom. Follows canon, 55,974 words, has the most overall views and kudos (for now).

Longest running fic: Life in Retail; Assassination Classroom. Started March 26, 2022 and set to run until March 18, 2023. Currently at 81,597 words.

In this year (and a half technically), I have completed 30 works with 2 currently ongoing (Life in Retail and Magic Shuu) and 2 temporarily paused (Gerit and ASR Bonus Round) making 34 works with a total of 504,928 words posted. Whew! Here's to another productive year on Tumblr and AO3.

Things to expect in the next year: Kristmas Karma II (starts Nov 25th or 27th, haven't decided yet), Life in Retail II (starts Mar 25th, 2023), Pandora's Box (hopefully, fingers crossed), Zodiac Killers (shooting for ASAP to Nov, otherwise expect this in 2023), Magic Shuu 1st Intermission (after Magic Shuu concludes), and a plethora of one-shots. I'll probably be participating in Karmagisa week again and I'm also planning on doing this 20 day challenge for my Krystar characters... because my muse hates me. 😫

Probably too many to count and too many I can't share because of spoilers. 😭

When all is said and done and the dust settles and all the family connections are sorted out, there'll be family dropping by on a daily basis.

Once the Circle starts getting to the point of considering children, they're going to lean more towards adopting/fostering instead of having biological children (though they will have a few biological children as well).

Ideally, Soul's Scream is going to be broken up into 4-5 fics (4 right now, possibly 5 because I haven't decided whether New Bonds is going to be canon or not. That decision will probably depend on how the third fic goes, honestly). The first fic is going to end when The Hunt ends, based on my current plans (ideally with a cliffhanger, so that final chapter won't be posted until I've gotten several chapters of the second fic ready to go for everyone's sanity), but that's all a LONG ways off right now.

“And no one suspects anything?” This voice was rougher than sandpaper. It was the kind of voice that villains in movies had. 

“The MET is full of fucking idiots, Greyback.” Another man laughed. “Fuck, they’ll probably give me a promotion to captain before they even release some of these bitches are missing.” 

“I bet you’ll be assigned some of their cases, Crouch.” 

Another wicked laugh echoed from the hall. “That will be a shame. My solve rate will go down, won’t it? But at least I’ll be getting paid well for it.”

Ginny’s heart thudded painfully in her chest. If she was understanding what this guy was saying… he was a police officer! Whoever these guys were, kidnappers, traffickers, murders, whatever, they had a man working for the police to get them out of trouble. An inside man. 

Their footsteps froze right outside her cell. Ginny held her breath, praying they wouldn’t unlock the door. 

“This is the one boss wants for himself,” The man called Greyback growled in his rough voice. “He said she was going to be the perfect plaything for him.”

Ginny could feel her body starting to tremble, she had to force herself to remember to 

breathe. She didn’t know what being a plaything meant to these guys, but she could guess, and Ginny would rather die than live like that.    

“You know what they say about redheads,” Crouch laughed, sending another round of shivers cascading down Ginny’s spine. "I've always wondered if the drapes matched the curtains... if only we didn't give her that fucking blanket." This time both men laughed. After a moment, silence fell between the men and Ginny thought for a second they’d moved on until Crouch spoke again. His wistful words made the hairs on Ginny’s arm rise. “We can always take the blanket, check her out more thoroughly and you know, give her a try. I wouldn’t mind trying her out… just a night. Show her what it's like to be with a real man. No one would know, right?”

hi hi hi. so I just got into the Hamilton fandom, I swear I am four years late where did everybody go, and, well. I am apparently a hamburr shipper. bcs that is my life now. anyway I saw your fic ifmlam and I swear it is my favourite of all the fics I've ever read (and trust me I've read literally thousands). I love it so so much, how do you write fics like that??? I cried about four times during the whole thing, I stayed up till 4am reading it even when I had to wake up at 7 because it is just. that. good. I could not stop thinking about it for days afterwards and ifmlam has just ruined me. I can't think of listen to Hamilton without thinking of ifmlam anymore.

on to my qursttion: is it abandoned? of course it's perfectly FINE if it is. don't let anyone tell u differently, your fic is YOURS and u are amazing.

the answer to the "is ifmlam abandoned" question is probably the worst possible one, which is pretty much "I do want to finish it, both for the folks that still want closure as well as it bothers to me have abandoned projects that are in the public eye/ already partially published, but also, it is last on my current writing projects list"

my current actually active writing projects list, kind of in order of priority, is

I'm literally three chapters away from being Actually Fully Done with the not-quite-first-not-quite-second let's call it 1.5th draft of an actual?? full?? original?? novel?? Opus which of course then goes out to beta readers and then gets who-knows-how-much edited and then maybe beta readers again if a lot does change and then a copyeditor my mom, my copyeditor is my mom, and maybe my little brother he's one of the betas but is very good at catching typos and then I!!! get to publish it!!!! which is the single thing I am most excited for!!!!!!!!! this should be closed up in the next week or two, and then take a while for people to actually read the draft and get back to me.

I really desperately want to finish my open-but-like-90%-written fic, which means we raise it up, the final chapter of to the bottom of the river bc I realized that it was kind of incomplete, and the second chapter of a buried and a burning flame because any more work there will need to wait until the author publishes the next book in the series. this should be closed up in the next month or two.

Speedwrite the draft of the second book of the Opus series so that hopefully by the time book 1 edits are happening, I have an almost complete draft of the second book. this is mostly me side-eyeing myself about taking nearly four years to write the first book, but that is solidly in part because I had so many other open projects which point 2 is about clearing that docket. this should be done in the next year.

And then just have my major projects be, at least until books 1-5 are written and published, books 1-5 of that because that is arguably the first major 'plot arc' of the series, so if I'm looking for a pause point on writing, that's probably where to stop.

There are two or three other short side projects (a weird fun second person short story tentatively titled witch-queen, a collection of four short stories Memoirs about a not-so-evil necromancer and the shenanigans he gets up to trying to rule a kingdom, working title Perfectly Normal Recipe Blog which is a collaborative project about a perfectly normal recipe blog that definitely doesn't include anything out of the normal) that will happen when they happen

There are other projects that are on the backburner -- The Numanok Files, a series of probably 12-15 short novellas about a mercenary/ bounty hunter esque person in space whose specialty is dealing with hauntings, but, like, 80% of their jobs is actually "you are effectively a space home inspector pointing out faulty wiring reacting to solar flares/ there's a weird alien fungus/ it's carbon monoxide okay change your atmosphere filters" and 20% of it is punching ghosts; there's a post-post apocalypse novel that I want to write that I know characters and general pacing and half the setting but need to work out the other half and figure out how much aesthetic I want to commit to; there's Strangeside7 aka spacerace book that is my reaction to how much I love how Redline the anime movie commits itself to "no we are about a race, like 60% of the screentime is just fully going to be an utterly ridiculous sci fi space race"; there's even a ridiculous YA trilogy that I would have to completely transplant the setting but might end up writing because the interplay between angel-physics and physics-physics was one of my favorite things in the world. and I guess the weird ridiculous technically a sequel series to ifmlam that was going to be published as original books that was basically me having fun with 'okay I fucking love star wars prequels old rotting space bureaucracy galactic republic style' except with seers and that also still might happen because it does have some of the coolest sci fi concepts and honestly I thiiiink that's all?

but the tl;dr of that timeline is I'm trying to finish a punch of projects Right Now, so that I can write books 2-5 of Opus, and then when I'm done that (which honestly, my average fiction-writing output is close to 100k a year. if I'm concentrating purely on one project, and writing books that are about 100k, we are talking four years. although my job situation is super up in the air in that period and writing might get put solidly on the backburner as I try to make it in academia, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) I will re-evaluate which projects go next, and that's when ifmlam is likely to come up for review.

I do not have any expectations that I will make it as an original author. I'm planning on posting all of my stuff online for free, but, like. it is incredibly difficult to convince people to try out even a piece of free and easily accessibly original work even if one has a huge following, I am a very small fanfiction author, and from what I can tell the majority of the people who are interested in my work are mostly interested in me finishing ifmlam. writing is a hobby for me, and while I'm writing mostly for me--and hence the for me bit at least for the next five years is pretty solidly going to be this series that I am deeply excited about and have sunk my heart and soul into every single aspect of--I'm human, and I don't really like shouting into the void, and I expect if I spend five years publishing to absolutely no response I will either stop writing for a while and do other things gods know my life is busy enough, return to fandom in general to write some other fanfic about whatever I get deeply into, or return to a work that I actually get response to. so ifmlam will probably start getting worked on a bit at that point one way or another. unless, of course, we are in the incredibly rare timeline in which I do make it as an original author, there are people who are deeply hyped for my original works and an actual demand for them, in which case as you may have noticed there are enough ideas there to keep me busy for a decade or two, and they will just get my full attention instead of fanfiction*. in this timeline, I will do what I was considering doing a few years ago, which is officially declare ifmlam otherwise abandoned and make one more giant chapter update which is a full and cleaned up outline of what I was going to write, interspersed with the scenes already written, and have ifmlam be given at least that closure.

*I want to make it clear that I very much love fanfiction and am proud to have been a fanfiction author and in my heart of hearts would keep writing it forever, I just also have a lot of ideas for characters and settings and magic systems and Aesthetics and I have been biting at the bit to write something that is //mine// and all mine and only mine for a while, I don't see original work as superior so much as there are a dozen fandoms that I am currently in and bursting to make content about except oops these fandoms currently only exist in my head, and I want to correct that

of course given how much as writing is my vent activity and I write what I'm in the mood for, there's a chance I'll feel ifmlam cravings before then, just... expect it to take a couple of years for an update, but also for there to be an update one way of another in a couple of years? but as for right now, I'm turning to original writing, because that is what brings me joy.

WIP Wednesday

Since Tumblr seems to have eaten some of my earlier posts, here's an update on everything instead of just the things I've been working on the past week. Also another reminder that things might slow down a little once I start uni again next week.

Malec Royalty AU:

33.5k wordcount! I feel like every time I write more to this story I somehow end up with less words than before... But! I have now roughly outlined an actual ending for this! It will take a little time to write it, though, as it will be at least a couple chapters long (in addition to the 20 I already have...). I have also written some notes for additions throughout the existing story for scenes and maybe even chapters that will round the story out a bit more. You know, things that won't necessarily advance the plot, but which will give the characters a chance to properly build their relationships etc. I'm actually really happy with this one so far and really looking forward to share it with people ^-^

Hiding From Your Home Bonus Chapters:

I posted the main story on Ao3 a little while ago, but as I said last week I have ideas for at least three bonus chapters, one of which I've started writing! So far it's only in my physical notebook, so I'm not sure exactly how much there is yet, but it's definitely on the way.

Jalec Dystopia AU:

Just over 5k currently. The problem I have with this one is that I'm not entirely sure where it's going yet; I haven't even truly decided if Jalec will be romantic or platonic or what. We'll see. (I do have a couple potential titles for it, but idk how well they'll fit later on)
