So I work as a page at a library and for the last 5 years I've been on the lookout for this series I never finished as a kid. I couldn't remember the author, I couldn't remember the title, not even the character names. Just a few of the events and the general vibe. (I was 12 and Accelerated Reader was a program that rewarded me handsomely for reading, not remembering what it was that I read 20 years later).

ANYWAY about a week ago I was looking through some donations we'd received and found an old favorite from Patricia C. Wrede, the Enchanted Forest Chronicles. I pulled them out to look through them fondly, and underneath them was So You Want to Be a Wizard?

So much came back to me just then. I knew your name from here, and bc I work in a library and I know a lot of authors names that I haven't read, but I had completely forgotten that I had actually read some of your work before!

I need to find this series and finally finish it (preferably used, I'm poor as dirt lmao).

I just wanted to let you know you wrote one of my favorite books I ever forgot but desperately wanted to remember.

...This is one of the strange side issues of being caught between the Time Before A Cultural Shift and the Time After. When I got started, it was relatively rare for MG sf/fantasy books to be recognized (let alone publicized) as series, no matter HOW clearly they were just that. Only after 1997 or so did such branding start to become a thing. ...I mentioned to somebody the other day that it wasn't until the digest editions of the Young Wizards books came out that they were clearly labeled as such -- i.e., part of a series -- on their front covers. And (vaguely to my astonishment) even then the hardcovers weren't so labeled.

(shrug) ...Marketing. What can I say. (And this is why I keep tagging posts like this with my name, and the book name, and the series name; because other people may be assisted. Who knows?...) :)

...Yet there's also this. I'm not sure it's entirely a terrible thing for one's writing to vanish into the depths of people's lives and minds. Because... assuming that the content is sound... one can do good work there. And then later, when you're tracked to your lair and people start saying OMG THIS!111!!, there's a peculiar satisfaction to it: a suggestion that you've been (re)weighed in the scales of that person's here-and-now, and found worthy.

i feel like tacky wordart kind of encapsulates how i've been feeling lately about my writing. if that makes any sense.

as you guys may or may not have noticed i've really been nonexistent around here lately. this past year has been really weird in terms of both my personal life and my creative life. i've been a lot more blocked than in the past few years and did not meet and at the point i am now it's easy to look at the past year and be disappointed. but i will force myself to see SOME positive, goddammit.

accomplishments: finished the 2nd draft of andromeda rogue; sent said draft out for beta reading (which was fucking terrifying, btw); crocheted two sweaters (okay that's not writing but i'm really proud of them okay)

☆looking back on 2023 goals.

i dug out my recap post from last year and looked at the goals i had set at the beginning of the year (which i had completely forgot about tbh jkgfjksd), so let's see how they measured up:

to continue polishing up Andromeda Rogue (at least just the first book) with the goal of perhaps having some eyes on it by the end of the year👀 - well i certainly did get some eyes on it, so that was accomplished ✅

to continue working on The Gemini Heist, wherever that may lead me - okay so i didn't get nearly as far as i had hoped but i worked on it, didn't i? i'm checking it off ✅

to not pressure myself too much in my writing; to be kind to myself when i’m in a slump and to take regular breaks - LOL. still working on that.

to try new things and challenge myself - getting betas was challenging. not finding them but the actually making myself do it lol. let's go ahead and check that one off ✅

to have fun and be myself! 😀 - LMAO. yeah, sure, let's give that a check. ✅

☆setting new goals for 2024.

i'm gonna have only two goals but they're pretty big ones.

publish andromeda rogue by the end of the year, assuming editing through beta comments doesn't kill me first.

this isn't writing but i'd really like to open an online shop for my art, i think it would be an interesting venture. i got a cricut machine for christmas so there might be stickers in my future 👀

Chipspeech Twitter Archive Update

Hi I should have done this months ago.. I do not know when (or if) I am going to finish that website lmao. So I am just going to share my notes from Google Docs. Should be easier to read than the original posts and helpful as a starting point if anyone else decides to make a website :3

The documents are all on commenting mode so feel free to make comments to bookmark things for yourself or write your thoughts or whatever. Under the cut I have put some formatting notes.

It's a folder, each year of Twitter posts is its own document (I tried to compile them into one but it lagged too much). There is also a document with all of the original Tumblr posts (from the accounts I could find, no tags yet but I will go back and get them eventually, also no dates but they're all from 2015), and one with the bios from the official website for ease of access.

The formatting is a little (a lot) weird and there are probably pictures that need resizing/transcription but I figured it's better to give people access now. The text is small (to keep the page count as low as possible) so you will have to zoom in.

It goes by day, organized with a bulleted list. The top level bullets are each character that tweeted that day. The second level bullets are original tweets/retweets by that character. The third+ level bullets are comment threads under that tweet, the organization here is inconsistent but imo still readable (if you think something needs an edit for clarity let me know and I'll fix it).

For each character's section of the list, normal text is that character's tweets/comments. Italicized text is anyone who is not that character. If it is labeled with unitalicized text, it is that character/important account (e.g. the official Chipspeech account), otherwise it is a fan. I also included some labels and/or clarifying comments for Vocaloid producers I like, they're not central to the story though

I got rid of the line breaks within the tweets when copying them down because it was easier to format. Sorry about that. Idk how to fix it other than going through everything again but it doesn't take away from the story so I'm leaving it for now.

If something came from a website other than Twitter, I tried to provide the link (unless its content was deleted). I did my best to transcribe the Clyp posts that were not deleted.

If something is a text-only retweet, it is marked with [retweet]. If it includes an image, it's probably a screenshot of the whole thing. I only included retweets that felt story-relevant (so no miscellaneous cat pictures, Apple-related aesthetic images, etc.), but if people really want it I can go back and add the rest.

Deleted tweets are noted with [deleted tweet], with the characters they came from if applicable. Idk how Twitter works but it the person in the thread is replying to the username of a certain character, I assumed it was that character's tweet that had been deleted. If something says [deleted Dandy thread], assume there is a deleted Dandy tweet in between each of the listed tweets (or another character, but it's usually Dandy). That was meant to be a temporary time-saver and I've gone back and fixed the ones I've found, but there's probably more I accidentally skipped.

Anything not in English is translated in a comment. Except the X-Sampa (I will fix that sometime but there's not much of it). Also it was done with the built-in Google Translate feature so it may be a little incorrect. Unclear pictures and whatnot also have clarifying comments. I can add more clarifying comments (or image IDs) if anyone needs them.

I tried not to include any unattributed fanart but there are some that I forgot to copy the handle for (I am also fixing these when I find them).

As for any future updates to this folder as a whole, I kind of want to go back through each account's liked tweets to see if there's anything funny in there but idk when that will be. That would probably be its own document.

Honestly I should have given everyone access back in June.. oops. If you have any questions you can put them in a comment on this post (or reach out to me another way, idk). As I mentioned before, feel free to use all of this as a starting point if you're making your own website.

MORGAN HEADCANON POST!!!

so i have posted my elaborate “the robins are separate entities and siblings” headcanons and i think i’ve said too many damn times that i wanna extend a similar headcanon post for morgan and now it is TIME!!

robin’s adopted daughter. parents died after grima goes bananas and robin decided to take her under his wing. i like to think robin held out a little longer than the rest of the shepherds once the apocalypse started so he was able to teach morgan what he knew. plus she self taught herself magic and tactics using his notes even when he’s dead

can be blunt, hates being the butt of the joke, but has a pretty dry and witty sense of humor. sometimes clashes with lucina’s inability to pick up on jokes

since she was a kid when grima goes bad, she is the oldest among the second gen. older than lucina by a few years perhaps

has a close sisterly relationship with lucina. she and lucina sort of reflect robin and chrom’s relationship in the group, with the exalted leader having a wise magic man by their side. given the situation in their family tree (though morgan is adopted, she is still lucina’s cousin) i’d refrain from defining it as anything romantic (besides i hc lucina to be aroace anyway. queerplatonic relationship, perchance)

since morgan was only able to cross paths with lucina and the rest of the second-gen shepherds through her adoption from robin, it is unlikely that she will meet lucina in the good future or at least have the same very close relationship with lucina since she’ll be raised by her bio parents. (one may argue that none of the second-gen shepherds will meet or form a close band without the backdrop of acopalyptic bonding in the good timeline, but the point is that morgan will live a significantly different upbringing if the grima threat is taken care of). lucina sometimes worries about this possibility, but morgan’s conviction to change the future for the better is stronger than this uncertainty. this conviction was also probably inspired by lucina’s drive to change fate

ngl this is all i have unfortunately 😭 but i do wanna work with her more, especially her relationship with lucina

chrom and reflect (girl robin)’s son from… a different future. he does not hail from the same doomed timeline as lucina and the rest of the kiddos. instead, he’s from a timeline where grima was vanquished with the falchion (keeping reflect/the vessel alive). he was born shortly after the war ended (though in actuality he’s born after chrom and friends leave smash bros but that’s a whole other can of worms)

the youngest of the future kids

due to his unawareness of the apocalyptic future and grima in general, he has a much more jovial attitude compared to the rest of the kids

brash and a bit of a jock

has a little bit of aptitude in magic from his mom, but he has no interest in actually touching a book

lucina (and the rest of the kids) were confused about this guy’s existence and why he was sent to the past but they embrace him as one of their own anyway (he still doesn’t really know what’s going on)

tbh i have even less going on with him, but i think exploring the silly sibling dynamic he’ll have with lucina should be fun in future projects

his design is kinda messy atm, i do not know if ill fully settle on the one here idk

OH and lastly: his mark of the exalt has not surfaced yet at his age, but i think it’ll appear on either the back of his right hand (like the defile brand) or on his upper back (jojo reference). or maybe even in his right eye like inigo (but that sorta feels like his thing so i don’t wanna rip it off lmao)

I recently made a gift for Hocus' birthday and I forgot to post about it here until now! Behold, The Unofficial Unlicensed Talking Magnetic Karl Heisenberg Plush!

I've made dolls like this in the past, and had a pattern for it, but this project took me a while. Partially as he was hand sewn (and hand embroidered) and I have a mild hand tremor, partially because I kept adding stuff to him and making him more detailed as I went along (so much so he was late for birthday, sorry Hocus!) but I'm glad Hocus likes him thats the most important part! He wasn't entirely a surprise because I had said I wanted to make him for them, but I think maybe they weren't expecting how overboard I went on the project (nor was I! I just kept having ideas).

I really wanted to be able to make an alternate outfit for Karl based on a fanfic my friend wrote so I made a base doll body and then made Karl's clothes with a bunch of little buttons and snaps. The shirt buttons are decorative (made of sculpey, I couldn't find small enough regular ones) and it has a hook and loop (velcro) tab on the inside. The pants are a combo of this and some snaps. The belt has snaps but technically works like a real belt and then the undershirt also has snaps as do the "boots". His necklace accessories (sculpey, wire, paint) just tie on and off loosely with strings of embroidery thread. The hat has a cardboard/maskingtape base for shape and just an eyeballed-pattern sewn around it (I think it turned out nice!)

The Glasses though are attached with his second feature

I knew I wanted to add some semi powerful magnets to his hands so he could pick up metal objects because that just MAKES SENSE with Karl's powers. I also made him his hammer (paper mache, paint and sculpey again) and added in a magnet to it's handle (as I wasn't working with actual metal for it lol, but I forgot to photograph it before I sent him off) . But in the process of doing that I realized if I attached some magnets on the inside of his head I could also make glasses that snap on and off, and that solved the issue of them staying in place.

Third feature: HE TALKS! Yes, just as advertised on the box if you squeeze him he says a voice line. Just one voice line really, but it's a long one. I'd argue it's probably the most important line he says in the game that really decides his fate with our protagonist (not in his favour, unfortunately). I used a voice recorder for plush toys that allows up to 20 second recordings. one of the unlisted features is there is a zipper on his back so they can take the recorder out for battery replacement, or to rerecord the message if desired.

POV: you're about to go in the hole (I only took a vid for this in the middle stage lmao). The last part of the manual goes over the alternate outfit and then includes a personal message for Hocus I won't show here. The alt outfit, is like I said before, based on a fanfic. But it's actually the unpublished portion of Hocus' long running fic series so its technically SPOILERS. I may post about it later because I actually tea-dyed fabric while making it and it was a more involved process than expected lmao. I hope you enjoyed reading about all the details of this ridiculous project! Oh! btw the box is actually the box the Chris statue came in for the RE8 collector edition. I bought it a few months ago from ebay (found a good deal!), and inspiration struck when I realized I still had it so thats why Karl got an official looking unofficial box lmao. I just cut chris' face off it for the window haha.

1. Find an idea

I usually get my ideas from tiktoks or some songs.

I kinda try to fit the song to the character I want in it lmao

2. Download the audio

I’m an android phone user so downloading stuff is really easily.

I usually use YTMP3.com to download my stuff

there is a lot of websites with that link but l usually pick the second or first one

Then insert the audio in Alight Motion. I use Alight Motion a lot since there’s a lot of choices there.

Also I use the APK version so I don’t have to pay for premium features. ALSO THIS IS ON MY PHONE. I use an Ipad to draw….

3. (Optional) Storyboarding

EVERYTHING IN MY ANIMATICS, I LITERALLY JUST WING IT LMAOOO

The only animatic I did need to storyboard was Floyd’s little minecraft song angst video LMAOOO:

a lot of people happen to storyboard their animatics so they have a plan but i literally storyboard in my head and if i think it looks good, i just put it in 😭😭😭

4. START DRAWING

In my drawing process, it’s kinda easy unless I’m using a bunch of colors.

I also try to change the styles up so you can differeniate the animatics from eachother like how in Jade’s Laufey video, the colors are warm and soon turn pale and cold. And in the To Love a Boy, it’s like pt 2 of Jade’s Laufey video but in MC’s perspective and in which the MC does not return his feelings so the colors aren’t warm as Jade’s perspective.

And then in Azul’s Laufey video, the appearance and color palette’s looks very sweet and valentiney since it’s in the MC’s perspective on having a FAT FUCKING CRUSH on Azul

Epel was the hardest because during that time, I was not that active on TikTok and school took my time so it took a lot of time to gain back the motivation and finish it

ALSO, i literally draw on my Ipad now and I send the pictures to my phone to edit them so it’s an annoying process since I DON’T WANNA PAY FOR ALIGHT MOTION WHEN I CAN GET IT FOR FREE

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT TOOK ME A YEAR?? My “I Wanna Be a Princess!” MUSIC VIDEO… it’s not animatic but that took like a year to finish because I forgot about it but I did so well on it.

AND YOU CAN TELL HOW LONG IT TOOK BECAUSE THE MC APPEARANCE ALREADY CHANGED

5. Editing

Okay, I’m so happy that I actually got into editing for a bit because my videos would’ve looked so trash bro

LMSOOO but editing animatics aren’t really that hard unless you’re going for a specific transition or movement

I guess the transition that pissed me off the most were the ones in Jade’s Laufey video when it switches from warm to cold and Epel’s MLP video where it switches from silly to dark.

My editing process isn’t that unique. I just insert the song, move the pictures, and done 😭😭😭

6. Touch-ups

Touch-ups include subtitles, effects, filters, etc

I don’t really use filters for my animatics unless i’m going for something

BUT SUBTITLES?? yeah I use them a lot lmao

But also trying to fit the subtitles with the animatic is hard bc IDK WHAT TO GO FOR so i literally pull them out my ass

on the one hand i don’t know why it matters if a 9 year old orphan is pretty or ugly like i don’t think that it’s the most important aspect of her storyline but then on the other hand the way ppl absolutely lose their minds if you suggest that arya is pretty is so crazy that i have to join the war on the side of pretty!Arya truthers. i see a lot of sansa fans in particular freak the fuck out about this and i have to wonder why? like do you feel that arya’s beauty may be a threat to sansa and somehow vicariously feel threatened by her beauty too? are you trying to gatekeep beauty??? it’s very weird. and i know some fans try to back it up in a feminist way by arguing that it’s bad to hypothesize on the looks of little girls but if they still insist on comparing sansa’s beautiful looks to catelyn’s beautiful looks how is that any different than arya fans comparing her to lyanna ? (this is off-topic but i think it’s so funny when neutrals or antis use popular arya/lyanna faceclaims for alayne stone like yeah obv anyone can fc olivia hussey as any character but is there not another brunette you could use???? are you so secretly obsessed with arya that you wish sansa looked like her lmao????)

oh also, i think it’s cringe when ppl who subscribe to the beautiful sansa ugly arya idea draw mixed race starks but draw only arya and jon as obv ppl of color. ppl will be like “look at our beautiful white-passing maiden sansa who has catelyn’s beauty and grace! and arya underfoot her dark-skinned troll of a sister!!!!”

tl;dr i think it’s ultimately ridiculous discourse but i do believe arya could be beautiful and find it odd that so many ppl get offended if you say this

If so, how is it like to have a post where you make an easy to make mistake blow up and have multiple people you don't even know only know you for that? LMAO yes that's me... and idk, i've had a lot of other posts blow up, but that one in particular seems, well... particularly memorable to people, apparently? I've been told by multiple different people that they got the phrase "i may be stupid" from that post, and thanked me for changing their vocabulary with it! it's always a joy to hear about that.

yes, i've also gotten quite a lot of mean-spirited comments when looking through the tags/comments of that post too, people calling me an idiot or a dumbass etc... those do hurt after a while, even though i know they don't mean it personally. i think that that post was also re-posted to some other social media sites, but ngl i mostly only use tumblr so i'm not aware what anyone may have said anywhere else. i am a bit curious/nosy, so if anyone has a link to those, (or any other post i made that got reposted), feel free to send em to me.

overall tho, i'm just glad i could make people laugh! everyone gets a silly brain fart every once in a while, i figured i would post about mine. i'm just glad so many people had a chuckle over it.

EDIT: forgot to mention this but it always always makes me laugh my ass off when i tell a friend about that post, and then without fail, they say, "Vivian, YOU made that post?!"

hi im officially not on my posting schedule anymore lmao. it has been a week since my last chapter on stick together so we are taking a pause. i’ll probably post more side stuff because i can’t stop writing random offshoots, but who knows when i’ll finish the avm chapter lmao.

i swear the doc IS over 60k words, but that’s not helpful when i need to rewrite something to fit with new lore. just yesterday i remembered something very essential to the yellow and green dichotomy thing (they swap in specific circumstances. dunno how i forgot about that i came up with it in november), and also that it may be impossible to guess since the thing i based the yellow being yellow off of isn’t canon… i may have to change yellow to gray. woops. it would still have the same impacts, associated characters, etc. but would make a smidgen more sense.

so that’s gonna be fun :) gonna have to go back and edit prev chapters… argh. the woes of plotting a story as it’s posted…

Trick or treat!

you get glimpses into the oldest notebook i still carry around in my purse, which is a comp book from back when i was still actually taking notes in college 🤣

wHY EXACTLY is this STILL in my purse 9 years later, you may ask?? honestly i have no idea, it's just force of habit, that's it's home and i'm not going to evict it, that would be cruel

but this notebook was there for my transition from Merlin fandom to Teen Wolf fandom, which is fun to flip through. it also holds the honor of being where i finished my beloved magnum opus TBAK!!!

and here's the post-it note miraculously still hanging on in the front that has my (questionable) battle math on it 😅

my initial outline and awful attempt at a map (which i think went entirely out the window anyway) for the sequel Tempting Fate lmaoooo:

and then we turn the page and jump straight into my intersectionality in english lit class notes REM-DAC, which is a 2018 fic that i STILL have not finished to this day (🙃)

handwriting is really the only time that i do the sketchy scratched out Let It Be Bad I'll Fix It Later In Editing style of writing. usually i'm way too much of a perfectionist for that and i'll edit line by line as i go and not move on from a scene until i'm completely satisfied with the way it is on the page. which is why i turn to handwriting when i'm stuck. it gives me permission to be messier and thus often unsticks me. all my notebooks are full of, like, bits and pieces of stories, jumping back in whenever i can't make words in my gdoc. which is kinda fun to look back on. polished gdocs don't show the process as well.

and from that straight into my Stira fic!!!! oh i forgot that would be in here too 😍

there's one (1) page of a Laura & Derek kidfic about them being kidnapped that i COMPLETELY forgot i ever even considered writing aldkfjgaldfj

then some blocking notes from a musical i was in at the time LMAO, this notebook really has it all

this notebook has my angsty badwrong Steo smut, some of the Dallison romeo & juliet fic i SWEAR i'm gonna finish someday cuz i'm really proud of the prose and the voice i had going (prequel to this one), OH IT'S EVEN GOT THE BEGINNING OF MY STILL UNFINISHED CAPRI LAMEN ESCAPE ROOM FIC, bits of two different Stackson fics (a smut and a fluff), the outline for my Steter fic with them bonding over body dysmorphia, and the beginning of the Sterek road trip fic that kicked off my solid 3 years of writers block at the end of 2019 😅

........so that was a fun trip down memory lane for me, not sure if that counts as a trick or a treat for you, hahaha

On this side of the internet, I’m mainly an artist and fanfic writer, but I also do a lot more than that.

When I’m not doing things for fandoms I’m in, I’m a musician. A music producer, specifically, but I recently started getting into songwriting. I also like to play MK11 and Minecraft when I can, which is fairly often.

You’ll find a lot of things on this blog, but currently I’m into: Salt Raiders, Mortal Kombat, Star Wars, the MCYTber Ashswag in particular, and recently Alan Becker’s animations. (may edit this as i go on in life)

I’m just someone on the internet who happened to have too much time to grow creatively. I hope we can get along :D
