now, i havent been on tumblr.com in a Hot minute, but now that im back ive been seeing

something that ive been seeing with it is people speculating that kirishima is the ua traitor bc of it

im here to propose a different theory

one of the main reasons people are saying this is because both todoroki and midoriya are posing like dabi and shigaraki respectively, who are both villains, and so the fact that bakugou is posing like kirishima suggests that he is one as well, theyre posing like their main adversaries

but what if theyre actually not?

what if theyre posing like the people who have influenced them most or have had the most effect on their story?

think about it, shigaraki obv has a huge influence on deku and his journey as he is the main antagonist to deku's protagonis, he is a major part of deku's story

dabi, obviousl, is just as big a part of todoroki's story, considering the recent reveal of his status as todo's lost older brother. this is obviously going to affect his story, as well as the relationship that is the biggest part of his story, his relationship with his father

bakugou doesnt have an established villain. his story revolves mainly around him dealing with his odd combination of both a superiority and inferiority complexes and realizing that there is more to being a hero than just power and that its okay to rely on others

bakugou has made strides, Huge strides, in doing just that, especially when we compare his relationship with midoriya now to the way it was at the beginning (no matter if you ship them or not, they have come a Long way since the pilot) but midoriya is not the one who championed this change in bakugou's character and story

that was kirishima

kirishima, who, from the very beginning has established himself as bakugou's equal, who has established himself as bakugou's friend, one of the first of those he's ever really had

so of course, as bakugou's first Real friend and as the first person he sees as an equal instead of better or worse than him, kirishima would have a hige influence on bakugou's character and story, hell, he already has in the kamino arc

hands down my favorite fic in the fandom right now. it’s the one that converted me into a Bakugou lover. if you have any fondness for Bakugou as a character then it’s likely you’ve read this one already, but if not, I can’t recommend it enough. incredibly depressing, but with the hope that comfort is coming soon in the next few chapters.

guys.. the medical accuracy of this fic is just... *chef’s kiss*

I rarely see mental health genuinely handled well in fics, but this one goes above and beyond. kudos to the author for doing such excellent research into psychology, and making the application of it in here not-boring. also, while this one does have abusive!Mitsuki, it’s done in a way that feels realistic, and how I usually will see it occur in real life, rather than just for the hurt/comfort feels.

fair warning, the fic can be incredibly triggering (themes of severe depression, PTSD, panic attacks, rape survival, abuse survival, suicidal ideation/attempted suicide, among other things), so be safe and heed the tw’s if you decide to read. legitimately one of my Top Favorite fics in this fandom.

It was a bit of a surprise that the little firecracker presented as an omega.

Or: there are certain types of evil that seemed too distant, archaic violations and perversions that would never actually threaten bright-eyed heroes-in-training in the clean, modern world...but sometimes those evils aren't as distant as one might think.

remember when I said that I love a/b/o fics that are full of plot and world-building and gender-induced tension? that’s this one. the OC’s are fabulous and you love to hate ‘em. also, it’s the fic that made me fall head-over-heels for the TodoBaku dynamic, so it’s got a special place in my cold, dead heart. 

be warned, there are rather explicit non-con scenes between an adult (OC) and a minor (Bakugou) in this one, but the author warns for them in advance, and you could likely skip those parts without missing too much if you need to.

Never and Always, Eventually by Wawa_Boonliang

Rather than the police station, Katsuki's friends bring him to a hospital after rescuing him from the villains. His wounds were minor, but it didn't make having them treated any less important. As it would so happen, Best Jeanist was also brought to this hospital after the attack.

Sometimes, small choices have a big impact on how a story plays out.

classic Bakugou hurt/comfort. this fic opened me up to the potential that could be a genuinely good Best Jeanist & Katsuki mentor-mentee relationship, and I kind of dig it and search ravenously for it in other fics now. I’m also a huge fan of the behind-the-scences Pro Hero Chat group.

paaaaaaiiiiiiiin. the hurt is ALIVE in this one. lots of tortured, angsty exploding child goodness. the OC’s are excellently crafted, and the Bakugou & Eri relationship? beautiful. definitely deserves a read.

Ground Zero by WindsChild8178

In the wake of Kamino, Katsuki is tested more than anyone could imagine. Bound by a villain’s quirk to keep his silence or die, he lives each day knowing it might very well be his last. He continues to work towards becoming a hero, keeping his secret from his classmates and teachers, focusing on making it through each day and trying not to allow the panic or depression to get the best of him. When the villain finally corners him with demands in exchange for his life, there is really only one answer Katsuki Bakugou can give.

honestly don't know which I want updated more - social media 101 or ground zero. this author's fics are amazing, and I really wasn't expecting the twist in this one. can't wait for windschild to come back to this fic some day.

okay first i’m drunk.

second, if you think for a second that canonically tdbkdk would ever turn to the villain side..........just like no. whereas touya wanted to be a hero to be strong (much like endeavor) shouto has chosen to be a hero to save and heal people that he comes across.

not only that but these are actually semi common stances for both shouto and izuku. izuku’s power focuses behind a hand and he often raises his palm towards himself — shigaraki often faces palm away from him because his power comes from his fingertips whereas izuku is from his knuckles. plus given that shouto and dabi were trained by the same person, it’s not... surprising to see them copying the same moves. i’m sure you’ve seen that one gif where they link up the same fire move from them both. (this one below)

bakigouncould never be the traitor. it’s set in stone. he spat in the LOV’s mouth because he knows villains lose so he’d never join their side. so it’s not him. and kirishima has lowkey nothing to do with it unless you think that bakugou imitating his stance has significance.

personally, as someone who sees that bnha is a story of influence and curating others individuality as your own (which frankly is a needed thing), it’s not surprising. that being said, i’m.... nearly certain bakugou has imitated this pose already? especially given he has limited pose potential with them gauntlets on & he can either do the two joint fists or one fist and a flat hand.

listen, I love kirishima. I really do,,,, but he doesn’t really hold,,,,,,, plot relevance or even importance outside of his red riot unbreakable form..... sorry. he is — and I stand by these words with light embarrassment — a watered down, less angsty izuku (they are both major fans of older heroes, both seen as semi useless in middle school, busted their asses off to get to UA, sunshine boys, the only ones bakugou talks to with obvious respect, thinks they’re not special). plus, kirishima being the traitor feels too far left wing given that he’s one of the few with a pure heart.

authors note: just something to get me out of my writers block- also yes i was somewhat inspired by that one scene from the dark knight 

the air between the two of you felt still, as if you two were too scared to say anything. you clenched and unclenched your hand, concentrating on how sticky the blood was to keep your mind off of the scenario laid out before you.

you never wanted to get involved in this twisted game of heroes vs villains but your luck had run out and it was about time karma caught up to you. all of those nights of robbing banks and holding people hostage at museums for your own pleasure suddenly felt like childs play compared to what you were faced with now. 

and the worst part was that you had dragged him into this nightmare- the one person you were trying to protect. 

for the past three minutes, kirishima held his gaze on the buttons that were sitting there plainly, almost taunting the two of you. your classmates at UA or the civilians at the annual summer festival. 

who should live and who should die. 

the question you wanted to figure out was which button kirishima was staring at and at the same time, he was thinking the same of you. 

“ we need to think of something now before it’s too late,” you said, finally breaking the silence as he tensed up,” we can’t just sit here and do nothing.”

“ this isn’t a choice between ice cream flavors y/n, we’re choosing life or death,” he snapped as you barely flinched. 

you looked up at the live video screen between your two options and your eyes lingered over the right side for a moment too long. you switched your gaze to kiri but he was already staring you down, his poor beaten face reminding you of your mistakes that both led you here to this moment. 

“ don’t look at me like that, you wanted this. you wanted to play hero, right?” you scoffed as you gestured to the screens and buttons,” go on then red riot. be a hero.”

kirishima stood up fast, completely knocking over his chair in the process, and made his way over to you. his lip trembled but his eyes glared straight through you as he pointed a finger towards the screen. 

“ i didn’t ask for any of this! this is all your fault! people are going to die because of us-because of you!” he shouted as you kept your eyes glued to how distraught he was,” i trusted you. I thought you changed.”

“ i have changed-”

“ bullshit look where we are! look at me y/n!” he pointed at his face that was freshly bruised and bloody,” you said you cared about me but that was just a fucking lie. were you just using me the whole time to get information for the league? or was this all to just hurt me- to make a joke out of me? please…don’t lie to me anymore.”

you continued to look straight ahead, almost through kirishima as your eyes looked at the screens. his tears streamed down his face and as broken as he was, it scared him more that your face was as composed as ever.

you nodded slowly and finally looked up at kiri. he looked beyond mad and desperate but what killed you more was that you knew deep down, he was just ashamed of himself for falling in love with you.

Like, there’s always teamwork at play, using Quirks in unexpected and creative ways, connecting events in some of the strangest ways (because let me tell you, back when I first read the Sports Festival arc I didn’t think for a second that Bakugou’s showing was going to end up the catalyst to... well, everything that happens during and after the Forest Camp)
