Okay, I need to talk about this, I agree with Tommy being older and more mature, with similiar jobs and introducing Buck to something different, but he is NOT Abby 2.0, not in any way. And especially, I think Tommy is SUPER into Buck, and I am not taking any chances. I don't think it's going to work out between them long-term, but not because they are not into each other, because they are, but (I may be a buddie shipper at heart) that is not a bad thing. I want Buck to have a fun time, his first relationship with a man is a big deal for him, he is finding out what he likes. With Abby, there was none of that, I never liked her, she got his number from 911 logs, that is most definitely against the law, she was a lot older than him, and she started the thing between them because he made her feel young again.
The age difference between Abby and Buck is 16 years (according to wiki Abby was born 1976 and Buck 1991/1992) and the age difference between Tommy an Buck is 8 years (Tommy was born on 1984). That is half the age difference between them.
When Buck started dating Abby, he was in bad place, this was the first real relationship he was ever in. He was very naive in my opinion, he just wanted to be close to somebody. On the other hand, with Tommy, he is in better place, he has couple of relationships under his belt (not the best ones, but still better then what Buck 1.0 was doing).
Saw a post that Tommy is Abby 2.0 & that feels SO REAL (older & more mature, introducing Buck to a different way of thinking, knows the job intimately, not quite as into him as he is into them 🫣).
I just hope Tommy leaves in a much better way, bc he gives off good vibes and I ADORE LOU.

The nonnie talking about ABC using or not using footage made me think about something...it's technically Bucktommy related but also just a curiosity about how the network functions.
I see an argument from some Tevans about how the marketing is favoring Tevan and thus pushing them to be a thing next season. Their evidence for this usually boils down to Lou and Oliver's interview being one of the only interviews for the end of S7, and Tevan's inclusion in the kiss cam video. And...no, that's about it. The argument is mostly built on those two things generating articles.
But let's run with that for a moment, and assume for a sec that the marketing IS pushing Tevan...would that not mean that the marketing side of the show and the writing side of the show aren't talking to each other? Because the writing of the show is clearly pushing Buddie, with their many, many choices they made in S7 to center those two, their connection, their importance to each other, etc. But I do get that the Buddie storyline is harder to show in a promo product, especially if they're trying to overtly show their queer representation with Buck. (Though idk, the bachelor party footage was pretty queer).
So i'd be curious to know how much the writing team actually shares with the marketing department in terms of future content, and how much the marketing team just runs with whatever they have on hand. The marketing department may only have as much information as we have, and they don't know that Buddie's first kiss is in S8E4 (manifesting it for Ryan's 100th episode). So of course they'll keep posting the couple they have footage of, even if that couple is breaking up within the season premiere.
So in short I'd just be really curious to find out how much "they know" compared to us. Because for all we know any and all official marketing materials could be taken with a grain of salt because they're built solely on the stuff that has happened already with no information on what's GOING to happen.
Nonny, I raise a good point here. 🤔 I have never thought of this.
I can't be sure, but I have a feeling that marketing teams from the general networks don't know as much about the ins and outs of the shows they promote. They just use the material they have on hand. Or they might even get sent some things which they will then use.
But I suppose the specific marketing teams, such as the 911onABC one, probably know a little more about what they need to promote. I mean, they would have to know a few key points in order to promote the right ship for example. Or to promote the big disaster that's happening. This season we got that bee video, so they have to know at least the bare bones of what's going on in season 8.
But this is all just conjecture here. Take this with a bag of salt. I don't work in marketing or PR, so I'm not very familiar with that world.
