I Shall Say Goodbye Till It Be Morrow
Logince, fantasy AU! Pt 2 coming soon!
He looked out, over the balcony watching the sun set over the horizon. He was the prince; he was supposed to love his life. It has so turned out, that most days he had turned to envying the commoner. With his wealth and lavish lifestyle came the shackles of responsibility and no control over his future. The air was sticky and humid, and the setting sun gave the air a hazy glow. His light, white blouse ruffled in the wind and he felt his caramel hair brush against his face. He heard the steady beat of footsteps behind him and he turned. Everyone was supposed to head home, it was long past working hours. When he turned, he saw his pageboy, Logan (insert last name) approach. He had ditched his navy-blue suit for just his white button-up shirt, almost similar to Romanâs own shirt. He stepped next to Roman, leaning over the balcony.Â
âItâs beautiful, isnât itâ His voice sounded distant and monotone, but still had the warm undertones Logan often had in his voice. It was only a few seconds later, Roman realized he was expecting an answer.Â
âOh-yes. I suppose.â Roman drummed his fingers on the banister and Logan turned to him.Â
âIs something bothering you, my prince?â there was worry etched into his face, the concern all-so-subtly seeping into his voice. He sighed.Â
âOh, itâs nothing. You know the princess of Lancaster?â Roman looked back out over the village below.Â
âThe daughter of our known enemy? Why yes, I am fairly familiar with herâ Roman licked his lips nervously. The summer heat was making his lips crack and blister and it was rather unpleasant.Â
âI am supposed to marry her in 3 monthsâ timeâÂ
âOh-â Loganâs voice sounded hollow, like someone had pulled the floor out from underneath him but his expression stayed unreadable.Â
âAnd, to be honest?â Roman turned back to the man, waving one arm about. âI donât even like women.â Logan quirked an eyebrow.
âThis particular woman? Or-â Roman shook his head.Â
âAll women. No princess has made my heart skip beats like a man with tousled hair and a well-trimmed suit.â Roman didnât notice Logan unconsciously run a hand through his own hair.
âIf I am to be⌠wholly honest with you, I have felt a similar way in recent months.â Logan tried to trace Romanâs gaze, find out exactly where he was looking. âI thought I was crazy. Itâs great to know that I am not the only one who feels this way.â Roman gave him a small, uneasy smile. He paused and drew his lips in a thin line.Â
âDid you know that there is no law that forbids a man from marrying another man?âÂ
âI-no. That is rather intriguing, thank you.â Logan gave a curt nod as silence passed between them, Roman draping his arms over the railing, unease clouding his mind.Â
âIâm headed for a future I donât even want.â Loganâs expression softened into something sympathetic and caring before fixing his eyes on the horizon line. Logan carefully reached out his hand, putting it on Romanâs. To his surprise, Roman didnât pull away but refused to meet his eyes. They stayed like that in comfortable silence as the sun set past the horizon line.

Roman waved his maid away.Â
âIf you keep messing with my hair, it might fall out!â he ran his hands through his hair, fixing it to his liking.Â
âMy apologies, your majesty. However, I believe you are ready!â Roman stood in front of the mirror, admiring the suit. It was a red suit jacket with gold fastenings and trim, with a white undershirt and black dress pants. His maid hurried behind him.Â
âOh my! How could I forget the most important piece of all!â The maid delicately placed the gold, ruby and sapphire-studded crown atop his head. He straightened his posture and gave one glance back at himself before walking out to the ballroom. There was the drone of chatter along with the distant hum of classical music. He scanned the crowd for faces he recognized, only to find none. He made sure to keep distance from his father along with the princess, beelining it for the concessions. He stumbled into a few people, mutter half-hearted apologies, keeping his head down and his crown straight. Someone grabbed his arm and he jerked back.Â
âWell isnât it Roman Cassanova!â He pulled his head up to look at whoever grabbed him, searching his memory for this person. They were clearly important, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no-
â..hey.â The person hit him hard on the back and he coughed, immediately talking his ear off. He zoned in and out of the conversation, trying to keepy up when amongst the rambling he heard âmy daughterâ and something that sounded like âmarriageâ. His blood ran cold and he tried to say something, but what to say to your future father in law? His stomach churned at the thought. As if someone has answered his silent prayers, an arm looped around his waist.Â
âMy highness, the king requires your attention immediately.â Roman recognised the voice immediately.Â
âAh, yes. Thank you. I shall-have to attend to that as soon as possibleâ he blurted out as Logan tugged him away.Â
âah, thank you. A tap on the shoulder would have sufficedâ He said when he finally gained his footing, when they were out of earshot.Â
âOh, please. You looked like dying cattle, I did you a favor.â Roman finally got a glance of his âknight in shining armorâ and his breath caught in his throat. To say he looked stunning was an understatement. He hoped his face wasnât as red as it felt. Logan smirked.Â
âWhat was that, my prince?â In truth, it was hard to see without his signature glasses but his jawline and cheekbones and oh my I think I might faint- he finally gathered himself and rolled his eyes.Â
âI donât believe that is how you should be talking to the future kingâ He stuck his chin up exaggeratedly and stuck out his tongue.Â
âAh yes, real mature your majesty.â A waiter walked by and roman grabbed two glasses of wine from his tray, handing one to Logan.Â
âAre you sure? Youâre not legal yet-â Roman waved a hand dismissively as he took a sip, shaking his head.Â
âI have what, 4 months âtill my birthday? The marriage is in two months so- 5 months. Close enough.â Logan shook his head and took a sip, eyeing Roman carefully. A hush fell over the room as the orchestra picked up. Roman finished his drink and looked up at him, placing it on the passing waiterâs trays.Â
âLogan?â he batted his eyes and Logan stepped back.Â
âNo. no- no.â He shook his head but Roman continued, offering out a hand.Â
âLogan, may I have this dance?â Logan sighed, taking his hand.Â
âFine. You may.â Logan took his head and was caught off-guard when Logan placed a hand on the small of his back. It did make sense, considering Logan was the taller one but Roman wasnât super familiar with the ladiesâ part in this dance. Roman placed his hand on Loganâs shoulder and Logan smiled slightly. They fell into a steady rhythm of dancing and they moved across the ballroom, Roman temporarily forgetting everyone else existed. That was, until the song ended and Logan and him stayed holding onto each other. Roman stumbled back when someone tapped him on the shoulder, and he felt the world crashing down around him as he realized it was the princess. Logan dropped Roman and Roman wanted to mourn the warmth, but knew where his priorities stood. He pretended the touch was just him reaching for Loganâs drink, because that was clearly the case, totally, and downed it in seconds. It was only right after he did so, that he realized Logan had not had champagne like he had, rather a much stronger liquor. The room spun around him.Â
âUh-hiâ he said, trying to get his eyes to focus on the subject in front of him.Â
âHello, I assume you recognise me?â Her eyes flicked uncertainly to Logan, who stepped away.Â
âYes, I do. You are Bella Lancaster, yes?â Roman needed to get out of here, and fast. He felt as if any moment the floor would fall out from under him.Â
âI am. And you are Roman Cassanova.âÂ
âYes.â
âYes.â She fiddled with the sleeve of her glove. âFantastic. Okay. Yesâ She looked off, as well. Though why he couldnât tell. âI must go check on my-- my fatherâ She smiled a bit and walked off and Roman made sure to count his lucky stars.Â
âYou should go.â Roman spun around and immediately regretted it, falling into Loganâs arms.Â
ânOoOâ Roman said, a bit too loudly, turning heads around them. Logan clamped a hand on his mouth before pulling away quickly. Â
âEw! Why did you lick me?â Logan said in a hushed voice, wrinkling his nose and wiping his hand on his pants.Â
âBe lucky it was your hand this time, mi amor.â Roman said, clearly losing it and Logan flushed a glorious shade of scarlet. Roman had lost all sense of filter, something that was definitely required as a prince.Â
âMaybe we should take you to bed,â Logan said, looking out at the numerous people staring at them.Â
âMhmm, bed, I like the sound of thatâ He purred and Logan sighed.Â
âYou are drunk off your ass and not thinking straight. You need to get out of here before you make a sceneâ Roman huffed, leaning more into Logan.
âWhatever you say..â he grumbled. âYour majestyâŚâ his tone turned softer and his eyes fixed on something behind Logan.Â
âN-no. Letâs goâ He gripped Romanâs hand, in less of a handhold but more of a means to tug him along. Roman pouted the whole way as Logan did his best to discreetly tug him out of the ballroom, which went both well and not. Luckily, they avoided the kingâs eyes but caught the likes of many onlookers, as Logan assured them that princey here had just had a bit too much. Once they were out of sight, Logan scooped Roman up in his arms and raced up the steps.Â
âWoahhhâ Roman giggled, with a case of the hiccups âYouâre stronggggâ Once they had made it to princeâs chambers, Logan set Roman down and unlocked the door with surprising ease. Roman stumbled into the room, pulling Logan in by his jacket.Â
âRoman!-â With one final tug, he pulled Logan onto the bed.Â
âYou thought I was done with you? Not even closeâ Logan felt his once-gone blush returning as the prince fiddled with the fasteners on his jacket.Â
âNope nope nope nope nope-â Logan sat up quickly, pulling the princeâs hands from his jacket, running his thumbs over the scarred knuckles.Â
âYouâre intoxicated and about to do something youâll regret.â He looked him in the eyes and Roman looked away.Â
âBut I want this-no- I want you.â Â Loganâs expression softened.
âDarling, the weddingâs in a couple months. I donât want to make anything harder for you.â A choked sob ripped its way out of Romanâs throat and Logan pulled him closer. Roman tucked his head in the crook of his neck.Â
âI never wan-â He gasped, trying to catch his breath as more tears rolled down his cheeks. âI never wanted this! Th-these responsibilities a-and arranged marriages a-and-â Logan shushed him gently.Â
âItâs okay. Iâm right here, youâre okay.â Roman looked up at him with tear-stained cheeks and uncertain eyes. Logan pressed a kiss to his forehead that lingered for a bit too long, breath ghosting over the skin. He pressed another kiss, this time to cheek, before another and another and another, touching every inch of exposed skin they could find as Romanâs mind went foggy, too overwhelmed by this absolutely wonderful sensation to even think. He feels a semblance of pressure at the back of his head, where Logan has his fingers threaded into Romanâs caramel locks, barely tethered there by the hand on his waist as Logan pulls his head up, looking at Roman with half-lidded eyes.Â
âWhat about ânot making anything harder for me?ââ Roman says, a playful smirk evident on his face.Â
âIf youâll allow me to indulge in a bit of selfishness, your majestyâ Logan finally utters, his voice so much richer than Roman remembers; like the distant rumble of storm clouds.
âYes,â Roman says, barely a whisper. âPlease, yesâ With that phrase, Logan captures Romanâs lips in a deep kiss, eyes fluttering shut despite himself. Roman blindly grasps for something to pull Logan closer, something to anchor him in this moment.Â
                 ________________________
Loud footsteps can be heard from outside as Logan, who has been awake for about 3 and a half whole minutes, shakes Roman awake.Â
âHuh? Who-â Roman groans as his suit uncomfortably pinches at his sides, very obviously not meant for sleepwear. Logan pointed towards the door and Roman noticed the heavy footsteps, which could only mean one thing. He looked to his side, about to urge Logan to hide only to find Logan was already under the bed, hidden by the maroon bedskirt. Roman sat up, trying to make himself look as presentable as possible as his father burst into the room.Â
âMorning, son!â He bellowed and Roman winced, becoming acutely aware of his hangover. Roman blinked slowly, trying to wake himself up.Â
âYou look a little out of sorts. Get yourself ready and come downstairs! I hope you havenât forgotten about our Day Of The Sun banquet?â Romanâs eyes went wide as he cursed himself. It was the summer solstice; where for the whole day a large party would be held across the kingdom. The festivities last night were just a precursor to that and this was definitely not the day to have a huge hangover and your assistant in your bed. Wait, how did Logan get here? His memory stopped after his talk with the princess.Â
âWell see you down there, thenâŚâ The king trailed off, noticing his son staring at the wall and the look of distant fear in his eyes. He walked out, shutting the door behind him. Logan crawled out from underneath the bed, brushing himself off and laying beside Roman.Â
âWe should get ready,â Logan mused, taking in the prince once more.Â
âWhat happened, exactly?â Roman asked tentatively and Loganâs cheeks went dark red.Â
âUhm, we kissedâŚâ Logan said, avoiding Romanâs eyes and Roman blushed a similar color, envying the red curtains hanging in front of his windows. He, Prince Roman, heir to the throne of Cassanova, has kissed his assistant of 7 years. With his awaiting marriage in two monthsâ time.Â
âOh myâ he whispered and Logan smiled at the remark.Â
âMm. Now we really should get ready, my rose-er, highness.â Logan stood up quickly and Roman shook his head.Â
ââMy roseâ sounds better. Less formal.âÂ
âNoted.â He nodded a bit, trying to ignore the pinkish color of his cheeks. He paused for a moment. âI should get ready. Well, you too. We should get ready.â Logan gave a curt nod. Roman laughed a bit under his breath and stood up. He took Loganâs face in one hand and kissed it.
âI suppose we shall,â he flipped through his closet, looking for something light enough in the summer heat. He finally found another white blouse, frowning a bit as he put it on.Â
âMy hi-my rose-â Logan buried his face in his hands, looking between the gaps in his fingers and Roman shrugged. Logan went back to his chambers to change, Roman changing into black shorts. Finally, he grudgingly placed the crown atop his head. Everything he had grown to loathe incarnated into some dingy piece of jewelry. Logan returned a few minutes later, thankfully this time with his glasses, with a white button-up shirt unconsciously unbuttoned at the top and black suspenders. His black hair was messy and fluffy due to the humidity. Roman blushed when he saw Logan, stammering. Logan let out a puff of air, snickering.Â
âYou look lovely, my roseâ he offered out his hand and Roman took it.Â
âAs do you, my loveâ he smiled as Logan placed a kiss to his forehead.Â
âWe should head downstairs,â Logan chided gently and Roman paused.Â
âJust a few more minutes. I enjoy being here with youâÂ
            ______________________
The festivities were long underway, Roman hovering by Loganâs side the whole time as they talked with the common folk, eating all the delectable foods the carts outside the castle had to offer and embracing the enticing atmosphere. When the sun was just past halfway in the sky, one of the servants approached them.Â
âSir Logan, your family requests your attention immediately.â Loganâs brow furrowed as Roman held his hand tightly.Â
âThey live on the other side of the Alabaster River, why do they call for me- they know I have my responsibilities here-âÂ
âYour mother has fallen illâ the servant bowed and Loganâs blood ran cold. He nodded, shifting closer to Roman. He gave a curt nod, leaning over to whisper in Romanâs ear.Â
âA week from now, meet me outside the city of Eastview at sunset.â Logan stepped away and Roman frowned, hurrying to the nearest carriage.Â
            ________________________
Roman stood at the edge of his balcony, overlooking the edge to the drop below. It had been a week since Loganâs mysterious absence, and of course it took the King no time to appoint another in his position, a short and snooty page with a shrill voice who always insisted Roman was wrong, constantly babying him. Roman threw the rope over the edge of the balcony, double, triple-knotting it to the banister. With shaky hands, he slowly began his descent. He felt like fainting when he finally felt dirt beneath his feet, in all fairness climbing rope was not his area of expertise. He shook himself off before running to the stable, shushing the horses and grabbing one of them before making his departure from the kingdom.Â
After many uncomfortable minutes riding on horseback, he finally made it to Alogas, which was right next to Eastview. He was almost there. He looked worriedly as the sun started to set. He couldnât be late. He couldnât.Â
He finally made it to the border of Eastview, and his eyes lit up as he saw a tall, black-haired man in the distance. His smile only grew as Logan came more into view, in a wrinkled light-blue shirt and dirt smudged on his cheeks. He skidded to a stop and jumped off the horse, running into Loganâs open arms. They stayed there for what felt like an eternity, just enjoying the otherâs embrace, Logan placing countless kisses to Romanâs head and Roman burying his face in Loganâs shoulder.Â
âI missed you, my roseâ He mumbled. It had only been a week, but Logan was always at his side so it felt like it had been months.Â
âI missed you too, my love. Palace life has been near awful without you; have you seen who they hired to fill in?â Roman rolled his eyes and Logan chuckled. He placed a hand on Loganâs chest but when he did, his brow furrowed. He tugged at Loganâs shirt, tracing his hand across the scabbed-over gash. Logan took his hand in Romanâs, pulling it off the cut.Â
âItâs fine. Just an unlucky accident.â Logan assured him. Roman didnât seem satisfied.Â
âDid someone hurt you?â Roman asked, anger seeping into his voice.
âNo, my love, it was my own fault. I hurt myself while farming.â Roman looked up at him.Â
âFarming?â Roman raised an eyebrow.Â
âYes, my punishment for getting fired by the kingâs court.â He ran a hand through his hair. When he looked back down, he saw the alarm in Romanâs eyes.Â
âWha-how were you-â Logan wrapped an arm around Romanâs waist.
âSomeone at the ball saw us, and ratted me out to the king. Next thing you know, Iâm fired and a direct message from the king to stay away from you. My parents nearly ripped a new one when they found out. So, 8 hours a day out in the field.â Logan sighed, caging his disdain at the incident. He looked down and met Romanâs eyes, recognizing his concern. He rubbed circles in Romanâs shoulders, looking Roman in the eyes.Â
âOh no, my rose, itâs ok. Weâll get this sorted out, I assure you.â Logan tried to reassure him. Roman nodded slowly, looking at the ground. In truth, he looked miserable.Â
âPlus, now I donât have to look over my shoulder to do this,â He leaned down and captured Romanâs lips in a kiss, Romanâs cheeks dotting a beautiful crimson. He trailed the kisses down his cheek, further, down the slope of his neck, soaking in Romanâs murmurs of praise and small laughs, fingers entangled in Loganâs raven-black hair. He finally pulled away, leaving a few love bites but nothing prominent, taking Romanâs hand.Â
âIâve known where youâve grown up for most of my life, can I show you where I grew up?â There was a questioning look in Loganâs eyes and Roman nodded, brushing shoulders with Logan.Â
âIâd love to.â He smiled, pressing another kiss to Romanâs cheek.Â
âLetâs escape to this town for a little whileâ They walked together, watching the setting sun.Â
            ________________________
When they got to the more busy section of the town, Roman went to drop Loganâs hand but Logan held on more firmly.Â
âItâs fine, my rose. No one cares who youâre with as long as you can pay your billâ Loganâs eyes scanned over the crowd. Roman pressed closer to Loganâs side, Logan wrapping his other arm around Romanâs shoulder. They went from shop to shop, walking around the town.Â
âWould you like to grab dinner?â Logan asked when he saw Roman eyeing one of the bakeries. He nodded a bit too frantically, a chuckle escaping Logan.Â
âThat would be⌠adequate,â Roman said, looking at Logan sheepishly. âI didnât have dinner before I went to see youâÂ
âDear gods,â Logan murmured under his breath. Logan walked over to one of the shops, Roman staying close behind. After a few moments, he handed roman a boar-and-cheese sandwich. He covered his mouth to stop himself from laughing as Roman practically devoured it, licking his lips.Â
âWhat about manners? I thought you were a princeâ Logan teased and Roman huffed, sticking his tongue out. Logan rolled his eyes playfully. He held Romanâs hand once again as Roman pulled him along, towards the local animal pen to see the deer and sheep, probably.Â
The end of the night came all-too quickly as Logan carefully eyed the sky. If he was correct, it was probably around 11 or so.Â
âRoman, as much as I hate to say it, you should be heading home.â Logan said, drawing closer to where they first met.Â
âNo, itâs too soon. I donât know if I can go without seeing you.â Roman turned to Logan, a pleading look in his eyes. Logan bit his lip.Â
âWe can tryst again, same time next week. How does that sound?â Logan held both of Romanâs hands, gazing into those dark, chocolate eyes. Roman nodded, if a bit hesitant.Â
âPromise?â
âPromiseâ
________________________
âWhat is bothering you? I know that look,â Logan said, looking deep into Romanâs eyes, as if he looked hard enough, what was bothering him would be written, clear as day. Roman folded his hands in his lap, mouth twisting into a grimace.Â
It had been another excruciating week without Logan when Roman slipped out to meet his lover again. Lover, he thought. It has a nice ring to it. Roman got off of his horse to fall into those strong arms of Loganâs , all doubt leaving his body. They were so secure, so comforting.Â
âLogan, take me somewhere we can be alone?â Roman asked, looking as the townsfolk hurried about. Logan nodded, walking away from the town towards the woods on the edge of the eastern side of town. Roman followed in Loganâs footsteps, never letting go of his hand as Logan led him to a small lake. Next to the lake was an old oak tree with a swing attached to it. Before Roman could think, Logan scooped Roman up in his arms and set Roman on the swing. Roman looked down, kicking off his shoes with euphoria bubbling inside him.Â
âReady?â He asked, arms looping around Romanâs waist. Roman nodded. Logan smiled, slowly pulling the wing back before pushing him forward. Roman couldnât bite back the giggle that escaped his throat, happiness flooding inside him. They fell into a gentle rhythm of pushing and pulling, Romanâs laughter echoing around the forest. Eventually, the swing stilled into a stop and Roman scooched over, Logan sitting beside him.Â

Lexiâs House Party || Rose, Juniper, Caleb, and Noah
đđđđ: living room @ lexiâs house party // 29th of january.
đ
đđđđđđđđ: juniper x rose x caleb x noah.
đđđđđđđđ: underage drinking.
đđđđđđđ: the girls leave the dance floor and share a drunken moment, only to be seen by roseâs other entanglements, arguing ensues and the chapter closes on rose and caleb.Â
Rosemary and Juniper got off the dance floor and Rose was a little sloppy after all she had had to drink, "God, I just need to catch my breath, feel how intense my heartbeat is" said the girl as she took the other one's hand and put it to her chest, "It feels like it's going to come out of my chest" she said, breathing heavily.Â
June watched the girl with great amusement as she followed her off the dance floor. Her heart was beating fast, but she wasn't sure if it was from the dancing or from Rose dancing with her. "Maybe you should sit down then," June suggested through laughter. Before she knew it, Rose had taken her hand and placed it on her chest. Given the fuzziness of her own head, she didn't question the move. "Holy shit, Rose. What have you been doing?"Â
Rose plopped down on the couch next to Juniper, sitting close. "I'm just flying high" said Rosemary with a giggle, "I had a lot to drink with Marina before we left the house, and then Noah made me a really strongggg drink". Rose smiled at the thought, she loved hanging out with Juniper. She moved her hand to the girls hair, playing with it slowly. "You know, you always play with my hair but I never play with yours" she said, just making an observation.Â
June had sat down on the couch, knowing that Rose would sit down next to her, but she didn't realize she would sit this close. "Ohhh, that explains it." She laughed again and pulled up the sleeves of her denim jacket, resting an arm on Rose's lap since the girl was practically in June's. "I've only had a few so far, so maybe that's why my heart isn't racing as hard as yours," she mused. Once the girls hand was in her hair, though, June's heart was in her throat. Her eyes closed. "That's very true, but you're the one that asks for it, so..."Â
Rosemary had thought about kissing June for a few weeks now, wondering if that tension between them had just been one sided. When Juniper's arm went onto her lap, she felt butterflies in her chest. She couldn't stop thinking about kissing the other girl. "I should say thank you for always playing with my hair" said the girl drunkenly, as she put her hand on the girl's chin giving her a kiss on the cheek making a big loud kissing noise. Rose out of instinct tilted Juniper's face a little more towards her and kissed her softly on the lips.
"You are very welcome," June said, smiling and tapping her fingers on Rose's leg along to the music. With her eyes closed, June didn't see Rose's hand coming, and feeling it there on her chin made her jump ever so slightly. Her brows knitted together, she opened her eyes in time for the loud kiss on the cheek. The noise alone sent her into a fit of giggles. Apparently that wasn't the end of it, though. Suddenly Rose was guiding June's face to hers and kissing her. Her pulse was noticeable everywhere -- her chest, her hands, her fingertips. This was definitely not a straight girl, not with the way she was kissing June. Even if she was... June kissed her back.Â
caleb was surprisingly having a pretty good time, nobody was giving him a hard time which automatically put him in a good mood. after grabbing himself something a little harder to drink, he made his way out of the kitchen and over to the living room, having to push his way through a few crowds of people to get there. as he was walking up to the entry way, he'd spotted rosemary on the couch and decided now might be a good time to talk to her. he looked away for a few seconds, trying to maneuver his way around people, and by the time he'd looked back up, rose was kissing juniper. caleb stopped dead in his tracks, not knowing what to do or what to say, if he should do or say anything. "what the fuck?" he blurted out. Â
noah had been wandering around the building with one of his friends when he heard some commotion coming from the living room. he laughed and hummed, but his eyes turned towards where the noise had come from. " what is going on? " he said and stepped forward, looking through the doorway and towards the couch. that's when he saw rose lean in and kiss juniper on the lips. he hadn't expected to actually react to it the way he had. after-all, they were just friends. he stood in the doorway, looking at the girls and he cleared his throat ever so slightly when he heard a loud what the fuck he turned his head and blinked, looking at caleb who had reacted and seen the kiss happen. instead of making his presence known, noah blinked and turned around, leaving the mess behind. he needed a drink. in fact, he needed fifteen, at least.
Rosemary was lost in the kiss, moving her hands to the other girl's hips once Juniper started kissing back. She was about to climb onto the other girl's lap when she heard a loud what the fuck and looked up, "Caleb" she said looking at him with a deer in the headlights face. Then she looked back to Juniper, and then back to Caleb again. And then back to Juniper. She could have sworn that she saw Noah walking away, had he seen too? "Uh" she said, not knowing what to say. It's not like she had been caught doing anything wrong. She was single, and she was kissing someone she wanted to kiss. She wasn't sure how she felt.
June had no idea what was happening, but she was going along with it, her hand slipping under the curtain of Rose's hair to rest on the back of her neck. If this were to be the only time she got to kiss Rose, she was going to show the girl how a kiss should feel. She was going to give her that gentle, respectful treatment she had told her about. Then, suddenly, they were interrupted, and Rose was pulling away, and June looked to see Caleb there. Weren't they broken up? Why was he reacting like that? "Should I...?" she started asking, looking at Rose. "Should I go?"Â
caleb's grip around his cup tightened, he was mad and hurt by the sight he'd just seen. he knew that she was technically single and she could do whatever she wanted but he also didn't think she would have gone around fooling around with anybody else, especially after their night together. clearly, he was wrong about that. his eyes stayed on rosemary as she looked back and forth between him and the girl she was just kissing. as juniper questioned if she should go, caleb shook his head. "oh, no, you don't have to go." he was feeling a mix of emotions but his tone was shockingly calm. "don't let me stop you two." his attention briefly turned back to rose, his eyes looking her up and down. "i knew asher wasn't the only one she was fucking around with..."
Rose was overwhelmed to say the least. Feeling Caleb's eyes look her up and down, calling her out for fucking around. "I'm not fucking around with her, it was just a kiss" said Rose getting up. She was heated, "and I'm not fucking asher either. I told you that". She stood in front of him and crossed her arms, "at least I had the decency to fool around with people once we were broken up" said the girl, genuinely mad at what he was accusing her of.
"Um..." Juniper felt very uncomfortable now. She liked the kiss, but she did not want to be in the middle of all this. Standing up, she wrapped her jacket around her to cover her exposed stomach. She felt like all eyes were on them now, and she was not about all of that. "I'm going to go. I- Maybe I'll see you later, Rose," she said quietly to the girl, a soft touch on her wrist as she passed by. She definitely needed more to drink now. While Rose and Caleb were busy arguing, she figured it would be a good time to sneak out and into the kitchen, where she saw Sailor heading towards from across the room.
caleb could feel his hands starting to shake but he tried to hide it the best he could, stuffing his free hand into his pocket. "right," he wanted to believe her, he just wasn't sure if he did. "maybe you're not anymore but you were, you said so yourself." she'd told him he gave her a hickey, it was still visible on her chest when they were together the other night so she had to have at least hooked up with him recently after they broke up. when she brought up his cheating, he rolled his eyes and looked away from her, ignoring juniper as she left the room. "i thought we were trying to fix our relationship, you don't go kissing other people if you're trying to fix things with me." unless she really didn't want to fix things with him, the realization hit him hard.Â
Juniper got up and said goodbye to Rose, touching her wrist as she did. Rose didn't even know what to do about all of that. Then Caleb didn't even believe her. "I didn't have sex with Asher!" said Rosemary, exasperated. She felt like he wasn't listening, "it was just a hickey from making out, I didn't have sex with him. I told you that" she explained for the third time. She explained when he was over, she had explained over text, and she was explaining now. But he wasn't really getting it. "Maybe I'm just weighing my options, and don't think I didn't see your little tweet about the girls here in dresses. Talk about not trying to fix things" she huffed out, shaking her head.
she was telling him one thing but asher was telling him something else, he didn't know what to believe. part of him did feel a bit shitty for not believing her when he should have but, again, his insecurities screamed at him not to believe her. why wouldn't she sleep with him? they must have been if asher said they were. "fine, you didn't have sex with him," he spoke, matching her energy. weighing her options? she really was considering not getting back together with him. he understood to an extent but he thought she really did love him, so why wouldn't she still want to fix things? "oh my god, it was just a tweet, just words... it's not like i'm out here trying to hook up with anybody." it wasn't a dig at her, he was trying to make the point that he had some sort of restraint.
Rose was completely over this when he talked about his tweet, "Just words? You just broadcasted that you're turned on by practically any girl at this party wearing a dress and then you used the tongue emoji" said the girl resting her hands on her hips "Oh rosemary I love you I want to be with you and I'm sorry I cheated but let me just rub up on any girl at the party who will speak to me" she said in a mocking tone. "I just can't imagine that the guy I wanted to spend the rest of my life with is such a fucking idiot. You wasted my time when we got back together, you're wasting my time now pretending like you want to work on this. I love you, but this? This is done, I'm tired of you wasting my time" she said, looking at him waiting for him to respond.
she was ending things for good, caleb slowly started to nod his head. his eyes fell down to her chest, noticing the hickies he'd left all over her skin, the fact that she wasn't wearing the cross necklace - he hadn't seen her wear it once since they broke up. that should have been his first clue that they weren't going to work out. as his eyes started to burn, his nose started to scrunch up and his lip started to quiver but also realizing they were standing in the middle of the living room at a party, caleb didn't want to start crying. he straightened his posture, his eyes returning to hers. as much as he wanted to say something to hurt her, maybe comment on her sexual activity or make her feel like she wasn't good enough for him, he just couldn't bring himself to actually do it. he couldn't hurt her like that, he didn't really want to. "i fucking hate you," he spoke through gritted teeth, that was all he could come up with and it was the truth. the only thing he felt for her right then and there was hatred.Â
"Glad to hear it" said Rosemary as she turned and walked away. She was so over all of it. The slut shaming when they were together, the comments once they were broken up but he was allowed to say whatever he wanted online. Rose felt very done with the Caleb chapter of her life, she was tired of his pity party for his choices and she wasn't going to throw one for hers.Â
caleb watched her walk away but only let her go a few feet away from him before he ran after her, grabbing her by her arm to stop her from going any further. "my necklace, i want it back." he stated, letting go of her arm quickly. "i never should have given it to you in the first place, i'll be over sunday. leave it on the porch or-or whatever, i don't fucking care. but i'm getting it back." it was the most important physical object to him, and she just didn't deserve to keep it even if she wanted to hold on to things.
His words hurt, that he should have never given it to her in the first place. "Fine" said the girl in response. She really loved him, so much. He was a huge part of her life, but this was clearly done.
"fine," caleb repeated after her, more aggressively. he half expected her to put up some sort of protest, it only hurt more when she didn't. caleb forced a smile and nodded his head once. "i'm pretty sure juniper went that way," he pointed over towards the doorway where he'd just come from, "i'm sure if you hurry, i'm sure you can find her before she moves on to another girl whose desperate for attention." the words just slipped out before he had a chance to realize what he was saying, he blamed the alcohol in his system.
"Goodbye Caleb" said Rosemary calmly. She wasn't going to fight back. What was she going to do, tell him that she was actually going to go see where Noah was? That she might go cry to her sister? He had said enough, and she just didn't have it in her to hurt him again.
he swallowed hard as he stared at rose for a second or two, then ended up rolling his eyes. "whatever," he exhaled, deciding he was going to be the one to leave her standing there. he figured that made him look less weak. he chugged the little bit of alcohol he had in his cup before tossing it to the ground and pushing past rosemary, knocking into her arm as he passed her to walk back through the hallway and to the kitchen.
