I’m actually thinking of rewriting my Billy Russo series, so thank YOU for the inspiration! I haven’t proofread it yet and it’s already late, but I hope you like it, love! 💕

“Couldn’t wait any longer for me, huh?”, Billy said, pecking your lips quickly as he readjusted the collar of his shirt. Closing the door behind you, you placed your bag on the counter next to you, looking the dark-haired man up and down. “I actually need to use the bathroom before we go to the party. But you’re also a sight to see.”, winking at him you walked past him.
On your way to the bathroom, you noticed the door to his office wide open, allowing you to get a quick look into the room. You knew his office and the way it looked inside out, but today something about it made you stop in your tracks.
The door of one of the closets was standing wide open, revealing not the usual stacks of documents and files, but instead a cabinet filled with a variety of weapons and ammo that you haven’t seen before.
“Are you alright, babe? You’re taking awfully lo-”
Not sure how long you've been standing there starring at the hidden cabinet, you whirled around to Billy who stood at the end of the hallway with an equally shocked expression as yours. You looked back at the weapons, that were clearly used and cleaned more than once in the last time, that much even you could tell.
“It’s not what it looks like, Y/N, I-”
“No. Hell, no. Don’t you fucking dare.”, you managed to say through your gritted teeth, trying to calm your rapid heartbeat by taking deep breathes. “For fucks sake. You promised it to me, Billy.”
“Just give me a chance to explain.” Billy pleaded, attempting to take a step towards you, but you stopped him with a sign of your hand, motioning at him.
“I know that expression, Billy. You’re about to give me the ‘for our safety’-speech. But we both know the real reason, am I right?”
He gulped visually, his outstretched hand falling to his side in defeat, confirming what has been hanging in the air the whole time.
“You lied to me, Billy. I thought you were done with that shit!”
“I find it very hard to believe that, I’m afraid.”, you said with a choked laughter.
His face was emotionless as he looked at you with his deep dark eyes, a coldness in them you hadn’t seen in a long time.
“Believe me, Y/N. I wish it wouldn’t be like this. No-one regrets this more than I do.”
“It’ll be over soon. I promise.”
Shaking your head, you looked at him, the sadness you tried to suppress for so long quenching at your heart. “I know you for too long to believe that. There will always be a much bigger problem behind your current target. In the end you’ll get hurt trying to end it. Or even worse. And I won’t be there to see that happen. I can’t.”
Your voice broke halfway through the sentence, the last words barely a croak as the tears rolled down your cheeks.
“Y/N, please-“
“Only one task. You promised it to me that day, Billy.” Your voice grew frantic as you recalled the past memory.
“Let her go.” Your head shot up at the familiar voice. “Look who’s finally here to get you, kitten.”, the man holding you hostage sneered. “Took you some time to come and get your girl, Russo. Thought I had to get rid of her for a moment.”
Billy stood at the entrance of the small storage hall, pointing his gun at the man next to you. “Let her go and we’ll talk this out.” The man next to you laughed loudly, pressing the tip of his gun harder against your temple, as Billy took a step towards you.
“There are currently three other guns pointed at you, Russo. I would stop right there, if you don’t want your girls pretty face to look like a fucking training target.”
Billy stopped in his tracks, looking between you and the man.
“Good boy.” The man grinned, motioning to the floor. “Now your weapon.”
The dark-haired hesitated for a moment, his eyes darting around the hall.
“Weapon down, Russo.”, your hostage-taker bellowed, emphasizing the first two words.
Billy went along with his command, slowly going to his knees with his hands up, slightly bending over to lay the gun to the ground.
But before the tip of his gun touched the cold concrete, the sound of a gunshot cut through the tense silence. The pressure on your temple was suddenly gone and you waited for the inevitable pain to come.
But instead, there was a dull sound next to you and soft hands grabbing your face, caressing your skin like it was the most fragile thing to be touched.
When you finally opened your eyes, you were greeted by the endlessly dark eyes of Billy, looking at you with so much compassion and concern, that you couldn’t stop the stream of tears leaving your eyes.
“I’m so sorry, sweetheart.”, Billy murmured, as he pulled you into a hug, holding you tight to his chest. “I’ll bring this to an end. I promise you.”
Shaking your head through the tears, you pulled slightly away to look him in the eyes.
“Promise me you won’t get yourself in danger again.” Not believing his ears, he looked at you in disbelief. “You were about to get shot and you worry about me?”
“Promise me, Billy.”, you practically screamed at him, punching him in frustration.
“I promise you.”
“Look me in the eyes and tell me that this isn’t what I think it is.” You screamed, pointing at the weapons displayed in the closet. The dark-haired man avoided your gaze, rubbing at his beard as he was searching for the right thing to say. But the words never left his lips.
“From the bottom of my heart, fuck you, Billy.”
“Fuck you, Billy.” You walked past him, not turning around when he said your name under his breath.
“Y/N-“, he started, quickening his pace when you grabbed your bag from the kitchen counter and walked to the door.
With that you turned around, slamming the door behind you, as you left him alone in his apartment.
