in response to your response to ridge-anon: that is SUCH a neat idea!
many (including me) headcanon ridge as a innately divine being (as well as kirin and davechaos), but the idea of ridge instead granting xephos and lalna a way to further tap into the power of the world as one who has figured out himself how to control it... the way it must feel to suddenly be able to see the full creative menu at one's fingertips..
xephos, like you hinted at, previously having already having the ability to reach into the connections to cheat in items (and others too! stares at sjin.) And gettin hit with the knowledge that there was so much more he could access beyond that.
I personally adore the way Lalna adapts much quicker to it, immediately seizing it and taking action, while Xephos hangs back and tries to mitigate with things more familiar to him. That episode is also totally the base for the whole "lalna wants to kidnap ridge and study him" idea thats been floated around the fandom for a long time. ^.^
i think you can tell my fondness for transmigration/isekai stories from that particular headcanon - i love characters who know the worlds they live in are in some way artificially constructed, but use that to game the system (ie, a character who knows the protagonist has plot armour letting them take a blow because they know it can't be fatal). plus, there is a certain extra-dimensional quality to all of the information available to you in the various menus in minecraft (co-ords, chunk borders, stats, block ids, etc) that i think would suit a sort of faux-divine state, if you get me? there is a very specific tumblr post about angels i'm thinking of [EDIT: i found it]
and xeph does cheat a fair bit in various series - he's one of the few who does it blatantly on screen too, which i think makes it possible to argue its canon! going from being able to teleport people, or summon very specific things if he knew the exact way to do it (and getting it wrong half of the time too - how many half doors has he summoned?) to then having ALL of that information in his head, without being able to turn it off? ough. the overwhelming power, but the horror of a reality you can no longer comprehend.
my favourite thing is the way lalna adapts faster, but it's xeph who fixes everything. like, lalna was distracted by the everything of it all, the potential of that sort of power, the implications it could have on everything - while xephos feels the crushing responsibility of 'its all up to you, now. i can't fix it. you have to."
extra fun character bit of xephos not really asking lalna for help, even when they both had that sort of power, and lalna doesn't ask xeph to stop so he can explore their new abilities from a new angle. something about the way they really trust the other but never think to ask for help gets me.
#also the fact xeph could have given that power to honeydew as well but. he didn't#was he sparing him? was he sparing himself? who knows#asks#for those who block the tags ->#ridgedog#voltz#i might finish voltz today and post the last bits of lore stuff if i get the chance!
