there's something wild about watching firefly for the first time while also knowing it gets cut short and most things dont get the payoffs theyre clearly hoping for, but even still, realising that the tam's parents only show up in a single episode throws me the fuck for a loop

#i mean not as much as realising young simon was played by zac efron bc that consumed all my mental energy at the time #but hindsight its like. only once??? they only got to flashback to the tam's once?#it feels so weird because theyre the two whose backstory feels like it needs the most direct showing right #frankly the only other at this stage who needs any elaboration in terms of story is Book? weird man #and like sure the tam's backstory isnt really that complicated and i suppose they covered most of the relevant bits for the parents #since the last flash in the episode makes it clear that thats probably one of the last times simon saw him #but idk. something about that feels weird. it feels like something that wouldve been explored further!#maybe like another episode or two down the line where the parents get to show up. hell maybe even appearances in the present #what with all the shit going on. anythings possible. yknow?#anyway to be clear ive only seen 6 episodes of firefly. im watching it like. monthly with some friends
