lately i've been... idk if you can really call it "debating" but i've been interacting with some muslims in the comments of an instagram reel in which a young girl was speaking to a young boy (i want to emphasize that they are both children) and telling him that she wasn't allowed to speak to boys until she was married, because her parents and her religion said so. the boy was sad but replied with something like "oh, alright" and the caption & comments were all talking about how "sweet" the situation was. i commented that i didn't think it was sweet, and actually that's a horrible thing to put in a child's mind. the post never directly mentioned islam and neither did i, but everyone who's been replying to me is proselytizing islam, so. anyway, these are the points that have been thrown at me so far:
it's not wrong because both genders are forced apart from each other
in response to me saying it still enforces an extreme divide between genders and encourages them to see each other as opposites rather than equals: the separation is necessary to prevent rape
there is no rape in islam because of the separation between men and women, rape only occurs in western society because men and women are not separated (...because apparently we cannot expect men to not rape women unless they're physically kept away from them at all times)
rape does not happen between family members, it's just not a real thing, ever (incest doesn't exist?)
if you're interested in a girl you should marry her immediately, because dating leads to cheating
men and women cannot be just friends because "islam and science and psychology says so." one guy said it's because "women can't talk about cars and sports"
(i also got called a simp for saying i have female friends. can't make this shit up)
in response to me pointing out that what the girl is saying implies that she won't have any say in who her husband is: arranged marriages are better because they always work out and unlike western marriages, they never end in divorce! (i'll give you one guess why that is.)
similarly, single parent families and suicide are solely western problems
men and women are NOT equal
i need to shut up and respect it because that's their religion
islam cannot be questioned because islam says islam is true
and that's not including all the personal insults and threats i've received, in just a few days.
i will say this is one of the least challenging "debates" i've ever had, in the sense that almost no point brought against me has any logical foundation and is easily refutable. but it's one of the most frustrating because the problem is that they won't hear me at all, because islam teaches its followers to never consider anything else. it teaches them to accept exactly what they are spoon-fed as the ultimate truth. and this is by no means a problem exclusive to islam, but islam does this kind of control better than any other religion i know. people raised into islam are not taught to think in any logical terms - in fact, they're deliberately taught to avoid thinking logically. logical fallacies are the rule. so not only can they barely form a coherent argument in favour of their beliefs, but they have absolutely no clue how illogical they sound sometimes. when i point out a lapse in logic in something they've said, the response i get is "no, that's true because islam says it's true." no other explanation required. at least, i've sometimes heard people of other religions attempt to use logic or science to prove their beliefs, but with the muslims in these comments, those are unnecessary things to be absolutely avoided - it's like they don't even understand why i'd bother to use them. you can't use logic to get through to them because they've been taught to avoid logic and cling to the mantra of islam-is-true-because-islam-says-so.

What about Jewish Atheists?
I'm under the impression that Jewish atheists aren't the right wing obsessive r1cky gerva1s fans who just use their opinions to mock people who don't think the exact same way as them. Jewish atheism as far as I've seen is a lot more complex in comparison and does not come from a place of hate or superiority, so that's not what I was talking about

On the topic of anti-predation people: I'm a philosophy major and one of those guys was a speaker invited for this event at my school last semester. He talked about some pretty absurd ideas on giving animals land rights but having human representatives for them segregating the land so that herbivores are never at risk of predation. I tried really hard to understand where he was coming from but eventually he just outright stated what amounted to "individual lives are more important than nature and if taking complete control of nature can stop all suffering it should be done, even if that means killing off all predators via birth control."
I stopped trying to take him seriously after that lmao
If this is brewing into the next big thing I want everyone to go ahead and add this ideology to the "no mercy" list where we put nazis and maps please. I've seen like six of them over on twitter saying we should also bring all human beings "up to date technologically" by force if necessary. Literally they want to be the atheist liberal version of missionaries and get all the world's indigenous people into capitalism and internet memes.

misc. isakainess/kainessagi hcs bc there needs to be more stuff about them
isagi and ness were actually the first to get together first
kaiser always demands to be in the middle when cuddling
ness started off as the main cook but isagi decided to get into the kitchen himself cuz no one else was gonna make him japanese food lmao
you know it's bad when he starts missing natto of all things
kaiser can't fucking cook. he's not allowed in the kitchen.
not that he's complaining
stuff about meeting each other's parents:
i'm gonna be honest, kaiser's backstory could go in literally any way so i cannot imagine wtf his parents would be like so i'm skipping his parents for now
isagi's parents would probably be shocked that 1) their son is gay, and 2) their son has two bfs??? but they'd be super supportive and shower kaiser + ness w tons of love and food
meanwhile, isagi and kaiser meeting ness's parents.....
uhh
i think they would actually be surprisingly progressive despite... everything so they wouldn't be too bothered by the fact that ness is queer & polyam
they WOULD have a problem w the ppl he chose as partners though lmao
they would high-key be judging kaiser and kaiser would be super snippy back at them
isagi would try to be nice but the moment it came out that his least favourite subjects in school were math and science?
nahh bro's cooked
i feel like ness's siblings would be single and ness would be like "you may have mom and dad's love and approval but i have two partners while you both have NONE. BITCH"
safe to say they won't be spending christmas with ness's family
actually now that you think of it
do any of them celebrate christmas
ness's parents are def the type of science-obsessed atheists to scoff at all religion so they DEFINITELY never celebrated christmas lmao
kaiser... i really don't fucking know what his family was like but the ONE thing i'm sure of is that bitch was raised catholic
he's probably no longer religious though so as an adult he never really bothered doing anything special for it
deep down ness has always wanted to experience the magic of santa and stuff or whatever but he never had the courage to bring it up
the one who spurs everyone into celebrating christmas is isagi actually 😭😭
bro's literally the one most removed from the context of religion
but yk how kfc in japan somehow convinced everyone that eating kfc on christmas is a holiday tradition
on dec 25 isagi just said "heyy it's christmas we should go eat at kfc"
then ness and kaiser just stared at him like "wtf do you mean"
and they both have to explain, no, eating kfc is not in fact a christmas tradition in the west, that's a capitalist lie
they go to kfc anyway and that's the extent of their christmas celebrations lmao
i lingered way too much on the christmas thing for three characters who are currently not religious at all
anywayyyy this is getting long and i can always make another set of hcs another time <3

LOL, Anon calling Fyodor a nun made me laugh so hard- XD. Pfft- damn, now I'm imagine nun! Fyodor being absolutely done with an atheist! Dazai who just comes to church to annoy the shit out of him (Okay yeah, men can't be nuns, but nun! Fedya hits different than monk! Fedya LMAO-). That drawing is forever imprinted in my mind btw, freaking awesome job!
Hahaha glad to see you liked the drawing, frame it and eat it.
Imagine:
Dazai: Fedya, why do you believe in god?
Nun!fyodor: dont call me fedya. I do because I do.
Dazai: have you seen him?
Nun!fyodor: you don’t need to see something with your own eyes to believe it.
Dazai: how, what do you mean?
Nun!fyodor: you believe every woman is beautiful even though you haven’t seen every woman.
Dazai: okay, you got me. But why are you a nun?
Nun!fyodor: …?? because I want to devote myself to god.
Dazai: yea, but why?
Nun!fyodor: Dazai, are you perhaps lacking braincells?
Dazai: no, I just wanna know why :(
Nun!fyodor: bc I want to do things the right way, to be closer to god?
Dazai: Are you actually closer to god?
Nun!fyodor: it feels that way yes.
Dazai: but is it really that way? Has he given you a sign? How do you know?
Nun!fyodor: bloody hell Dazai, please leave me alone.

TERAPHOBIA LORE DUMP
Hell yeah
In Teraphobia, each island is sorta like its own country, and while each island/country's culture varies, a few things are largely the same across most, if not all, islands. Those things include:
- Skyships are used as public transportation.
- Random eyes are pretty commonly found around the landscape and architecture of most islands, and nobody except Cameron questions this.
- City/town/villiage designs and architecture are intentionally built to properly accommodate for all native monsters varying anatomy and differing abilities/disabilities.
- During seasonal events, most monsters travel to the island the event is hosted on, making tourism very common {Like, people visit Plant Island for Spooktacle, Fire Haven for Feast Ember, Water Island for Eggs-travaganza, ect ect}. Since seasonal events last for around a week, monster tourists often stay in hotels overnight to celebrate.
- Clothes are optional. Neither nudity or modesty is seen as weird. And, socks with sandals is considered fashionable {this is canon in MSM}
- Breeding isn't seen as anything sacred, romantic, sexual, or anything like that. It's just something done casually between friends to keep the population up, plain and simple. Because of this, monsterlings are not raised by any one by-blood "family" {stuff with monster genetics/biology means those don't exist} and are raised by the community as a whole, finding their own family in the process.
- Most monsters are at least somewhat religious, and the closer you get to the Celestial Sanctuary, the more religious monsters you get. Atheists are seen as weird because the Celestials and Colossals are literally right there {this is not me making fun of atheists, I am atheist lmao}. They only have one religion {with different ways to practice it}, only the odd few follow human religions. The religion itself will be elaborated upon later gkszglsglzglzog
- Monsters can choose to buy their own home to live in, or live in castles {which are more apartment-like than castle-like} for free. Castles offer the same quality of life as owning your own home, albeit you might have to deal with the occasional annoying neighbor.
- This should be a given but music is VERY important to them. Not being musically inclined, even slightly, as a monster is seen as a disability.
- And more I haven't thought of yet HA-
Individual island cultures under the cut, because it's gonna be a lot. Note that I'm not gonna do all of them because I don't have lore for all of them.
PLANT ISLAND
Plant Island is the second largest largest island in size {being about the size of the continental United States of America} and the largest in terms of population and diversity. The island landscape itself is a blend of peaceful, quiet forests and loud villiages and cities, both bursting with color and life.
Similarly to the USA, Plant Island is a bit of a cultural melting pot. Because of its diverse population, you can find a little bit of everything depending on where you go; though, one thing that stays consistent is a deep connection with nature and a love for all things spooky.
{The main character, Handler-Helper Cameron, lives in the currently unnamed capitol city of this island.}
COLD ISLAND
Cold Island, despite being the largest island in terms of land, has a relatively small population because most of the land is just not habitable for monsters {although the populationis still decently large}. Kinda like Canada or Russia. I haven't thought much about the culture other than they value found family and generosity, and that the towns there are very similar to Snowdin from Undertale.
AIR ISLAND
Air Island is a stereotypical steampunk paradise, comprised mostly of floating islands and large cities, with very little walkable ground. Most citizens are avian monsters and the monsters that aren't have to travel by skyship to get anywhere.
This island's culture values love {whether it be familial or otherwise} and romance, making it a very popular vacation spot for anniversaries.
They also have a lot of fancy restaurants.
EARTH ISLAND
Florida
Literally just fucking Florida
They have natural disasters galore, namely earthquakes, so their buildings are sturdy and built especially to handle things like that. They also have a large Wubbox population because they have frequent power outages {self-explanatory} and therefore need backup generators.
Even when they're not having a random earthquake, the place is still absolute chaos. Just think of any Florida Man™️ story and I can garuntee you it's happened there /hj
{Despite this, the monsters there are still surprisingly kind and have a strong sense of community, always helping out those affected by natural disasters even outside the island when they can.}
SHUGABUSH ISLAND
Shugabush Island is the one of the smallest islands by far, only being the size of a small rural town in the South; it has a population of less than 100 monsters, and is the home of the Shugafam {who are individual monsters in this AU instead of a species family}. Life there is pretty simple, and almost everyone knows each other. Overall just a chill place for the most part.
More often than not, the island is quiet; however, every one in a while, the Shugafam hold concerts there and the island lights up with life and country fans from all over the Taurus visiting to see.
AMBER ISLAND
Amber Island is like a blend of Native American and black culture, with a focus on community and healing. Very small, like Shugabush Island. Not gonna elaborate more because I'm white and haven't done enough research to represent this accurately.
PSYCHIC ISLAND
{My descriptions ger slightly shittier from here as I have less developed for them, sorry}
Psychic Island is a bit weird. They're very spiritual, with an emphasis on holistic medicine and other hippie shit that I don't know how to word. However, they also highly value education and have some of the best schools and most exapnsive libraries in the monster world. It's also fairly large, and is mostly comprised of big cities.
FAERIE ISLAND
Faerie Island is like something straight out of a Faerie tale book, and no I don't mean the weird and fucked up original versions. More like, idk, Shrek? Yeah, Shrek. That sounds right. Idk how to elaborate more than that.
BONE ISLAND
Bone Island is less of an island and more of an elaborate underground cave system full of water that may-or-may-not be safe to consume and beautiful crystal formations that connect all other underground islands together {like Haven, Wublin, Water I think, ect.}. Despite the cave system being massive, the area where monsters actually live in is comparatively small. Culturally, they're very similar to Hispanic cultures on Earth and have a notably strong connection to the Beat Hereafter {mostly because it's where Clavaveras are native to, who can literally speak to the dead}.
ETHEREAL ISLAND
Ethereal Island is the embodiment of surrealism; because it's located in the pocket dimension, they're very isolated and most things in there are almost impossible for any outsider to understand. Quite a few areas are incorporeal, landscapes are constantly shifting, twisting, and turning making it almost impossible to navigate without help from a native, their technology is leaps and bounds more advanced than we could ever dream of, and the atmosphere is toxic to boot.
It's absolutely gorgeous there tho, if you don't end up with a debilitating migraine from trying to process everything.
MAGICAL SANCTUM
Similar to Ethereal, just more tribal.
CELESTIAL SANCTUARY
Celestial Sanctuary...
...Will get its own dedicated post because I am obsessed with the Celestials and ended up giving them too much lore for my own good. Just note, it is a lot different from the rest of the islands.

WIBTA for not getting my coworkers holiday gifts?
Sorry in advance for the long ask, I have adhd so I'm not always great at figuring out what's relevant to the topic lmao. I (29M) have been working at my current workplace since I graduated college (so ~7 years). For the first few years I worked pretty much alone. I have a close working relationship with my supervisors, and I have a lot of interns filter through, but I was the only person at my 'level' of work, if that makes sense. I would write cards for my supervisors, and with my interns I would do something like bake cookies for everyone, or take them all out for dinner (to clarify I always have at minimum 3-4 interns, I wasn't just taking someone I was in charge of out for a one on one dinner lmao).
Last year, four more people were hired who work in the same position/level as me (early 20s-mid 30s, all F). I get along with them alright as coworkers, but they are all much closer with each other than I am with them. They didn't know eachother before starting here, but I make a lot of effort keeping distance between my work and personal life, vs they have all become friends outside of work. I also have enough issues with them that I wouldn't want to be friends with them outside of work (very condensed version is that I am openly aroace and they are Weird about it). I am firm about keeping boundaries/distance though and that makes it easier to deal with them.
Again, we work together really well when we're actually talking about work-- it's just the non-work stuff that I don't really vibe with. Also, their level of friendship is very normal in our workplace/field, since we are in a very very rural area where the tiny little town we're in is almost entirely centered around the one industry/company that we're at. The fact that I'm not friends outside of work with my coworkers gives me a reputation for being weird/cold (but I don't care if I seem weird as long as it means I can keep some distance).
Last year, we all talked about Xmas gifts, and decided that we wouldn't get each other anything, but rather just pitch in for some wine and fancy pastries for a mini office party. It was nice, except then right before Christmas I found a gift on my desk from one of them (like, a 50$ gift, which is quite expensive considering how much we make). I asked her about it, saying I appreciated it but didn't have anything since we agreed not to get eachother gifts. She said something like she didn't expect anything, just wanted to get me something. I thanked her and but was uncomfortable enough that I ended up giving the thing to a friend of mine (who knew it was a re-gift and was happy to have it lol). I didn't plan to get anything, except then I found out that the other three had all consequently gotten eachother and me gifts as a result of her. I talked to the one coworker I get along best with, and she agreed with me that it would now be rude to not give anything in return, so I just got everyone relatively impersonal gifts (books).
However, finances are tight this year for me (coworkers don't know that) due to some medical bills. We are doing an office cookie exchange, and again agreed not to get each other gifts, but one of them (same one who started this last year) hinted that she had 'a little something' for each of us anyways, but no need to reciprocate.
If it's relevant, we are in the US, all white, and all varying degrees of atheist/agnostic/ex-christian.
No idea if this will even get out of the queue before Xmas lol but: WIBTA if i stuck to our agreement to not get my coworkers Christmas gifts, even if they get me gifts anyways?
What are these acronyms?

Hey, if this is too much effort for you, then you don't have to respond.
But I was wondering if you had any advice about having a partner respect beliefs from the cultures you come from. I'm White (Various) and Native, with the latter I was raised out of but I am trying to reconnect.
I primarily identify with my Scottish heritage since we still do some of the practices (such as our wakes, we still have our colours and at funerals we will play the bag pipes.)
Any time I walk about certain practices relating to myths/beliefs relating to either heritage, my partner says they'll purposefully do the opposite because they "don't believe in it and think it's stupid".
They're an agnostic Wiccan and we've been fighting over their "anti-religion" viewpoints for a while now.
And I'm just wondering how I get them to stop because the constant "that's stupid" or "lmao I'll do it anyways" has drained me and I just want my beliefs to be respected.
They get offended if I compare them to militant atheists but that's how they come off a lot of the time. They're also white so that's what really annoys me about all this.
I mean, it's a matter of respect. Do they respect you enough to also respect your beliefs, your ancestry, your opinions, your lived experiences. Because those are all aspects of who you are. It's a matter of respecting you to begin with.
Like, my husband of almost 14 years is white and has always been atheist. I don't expect him to ever follow my spirituality, any of my religions, but respecting them as part of respecting me is not up for debate. And a lot of it came from, well, his having not been exposed to other cultures and experiences before he met me. He used to be all "this world would be better off without religions in it at all" until I made him really think about what he was saying. He grew up in an all white and cultural Christian environment despite having not been brought up in any religion. I had to actually teach him what "cultural Christianity" means. But you know what? He respects me enough to listen to me, to hear my points of view and let them sink in, to think about the things I tell him and learn from my experiences. And I do the same for him, too. It's mutual respect. It's what's essential in any relationship. If your partner doesn't even respect you enough to even listen to what you think or have to say, then, well, what does that say about them as a partner for you?
I'm sorry to come off blunt, and I apologize if this is not the advice you were looking for, but I really don't know what else to say. Because to me, lack of respect is not something you can just work around. If they don't respect you as a person to begin with, then I don't know what you can do to get them to respect anything you do or say or believe in.

Okay, I'm starting to believe you're a troll. There are two glaring problems in your response to my question:
Why are Lousianan teacher required to have a copy of The 10 Commandments in their classrooms? Why have teachers in OK been forced to have Bibles in their classroom. If you're actually an atheist, is this not a disturbing trend. Also, as an atheist, where do you base your dislike of marriage equality and equal rights? (Don't deny any animosity towards those, you literally cannot consciously vote Republican if you don't hate queer people.)
Is Clarence Thomas a "low level" schmuck and what does it mean that he has openly discussed overturning decisions that allow the right to privacy including gay marriage, the overturn of anti-sodomy laws and Griswold?
Louisiana - that's going to get overturned in court in about five minutes or the Satanists will show up and demand they get to put their goat thing in classrooms and the people behind this will drop it faster than you can say hellfire so I'm not going to waste my time worrying about it
I have no dislike for marriage equality. I would question what equal rights you're referring to because often that's a term that gets applied in situations that have nothing to do with rights or equality but generally I'm in favor of that just like the very vast majority of conservatives are.
It's really not difficult at all to vote Republican and not hate queer people. I know a lot of queer people who do it on a regular basis too, for that matter.
And once again, tell me you don't know how to read a SCOTUS opinion without telling lmao. Thomas's words were not a judgment on whether or not those things should be legal. They were simply a statement that the constitutional reasoning for those decisions was weak - and it was. Personally, I'd like to see those cases revisited so they can be shored up.
And man, if I were trolling, I would have given up the bit after about a year. It's 12 and counting. Who's that committed? Not me. Sorry I don't match up with what you were told conservatives are like. Most of us don't.

Your daring statement that "people should probably believe things that are true" seems to have been met with controversy in the Believing Things That Are False community.
congrats on the job btw
Thank you! And, yeeeeah, lol
I mean as a blanket statement that gets dicey with things like spiritual or religious beliefs, which I'm aware this wasn't about, but, as an aside (sorry if this is a bit obnoxious)...
The standard I set for myself a while ago was one of going like, I won't rudely try to intercede in someone Believing A Thing That Is Wrong if they are not using said belief to cause harm to/negatively impact others. This seems to be the best policy to avoid causing a lot of pain needlessly for everyone, because it's not like people actually change their mind about deeply held beliefs when questioned on them.
But on the other end of that double-edged sword, when people demonstrate that they are casually and often without realizing deploying false judgements in a way that does affect how they interact with the rest of the world, then I do think that that's probably something that they should work on.
And again I'm not a dick about it, but I do think I'm more than within my rights to be like "it makes me uncomfortable to realize that people are making decisions and judgements in a poor and possibly dangerous way, possibly at scale". And if people want to come after me for saying that, then I can and will call them on it lmao. They want to have an argument then I'll more than give them one, I don't think a lot of people realize how much restraint you have to learn and internalize early on to hold a model of reality that you are reasonably certain is accurate but which runs contrary to the prevailing cultural zeitgeist.
It annoys me for instance how often religious people who will talk on their own philosophy will lambast a spectre of "annoying atheists trying to lecture them" when they won't think twice before trying to assert some absolutely asinine doctrine to someone who says something in passing, not even to them specifically, that contradicts it. They don't realize that they are far worse for deploying that kind of aggressive lecturing than most of the atheists they complain about, but are more concerned and annoyed by atheists specifically because they have realized they can't actually win an argument when they're arguing something that inherently lacks proof or any reasonable claim to be the null assumption.

i hope that whatever you write on here makes your life easier in some way. i don't know how, i just hope it does some good to someone somewhere. a lot of people are struggling right now, a lot of people are angry, and i know you're trying your best to make the world a better, safer place
it's strange how much kinship i feel with GCs on here. you're all screaming for safety, support for the next generation, an end to the oppression, an end to the patriarchy
we might be fighting on opposite sides- we've probably both seen some very different, very hard things. we've both a lot to the ways we have to live. i wish we could get along. i wish it didn't have to be this way
i won't argue that i'm a man despite my biology- not here anyway, there's no point, it won't achieve anything- but i hope you can find more friends like me and understand us better. we're not liars. we don't want to cause danger. i would beg you to listen to us but i understand that you can't.
i understand that you only hate trans women because a lot of men are total pieces of shit and don't care about anyone else. there's no point telling you that most trans women aren't bad. they're not good either. people just do what they do, both good and bad. nobody's perfect, and there are bad people in every area of society. Not all women are good. Goodness and womanhood are two different things.
i hope that your life gets better, and that your world gets bigger, and friendlier, and easier to be in.
-a trans brother
Hey :) thanks for the kind words, but don't you see how you sound kinda like one of these performatively compassionate preachers talking to atheists? something like "hey. I know that you've had it hard. Now it's difficult for you to let Jesus into your heart. You've turned your back to God because people have hurt you. I understand that. But some day, I hope, you will return to Him, because He has nothing but love for you."
And I also don't know where you get the notion that I don't have any trans friends or that I don't know trans people. I interact with trans people about four times a week. Half of the women I've dated have identified as something other than women. I also use preferred pronouns, as long as the person in question is not a total piece of shit.
It would actually kinda funny if we knew each other in real life, and you think that I'm some kind of super progressive person lmao.
And also, why do you think that saying that manhood or womanhood isn't determined by some nebulous non-falsifiable spiritual bullshit means that I hate trans women? Or that I think that all trans women are bad? Or that all biological females are good? I've literally never said that I think that all trans women are bad people. I just say that they are not women.
I also don't know where you get the notion that I think that trans people are lying. I actually think that the majority of trans-identified people actually believe that they are literally the opposite sex, just as the majority of catholics believe that they are literally recieving the body and the blood of Christ in their sermons. The only problem arises when people start to push their beliefs onto others. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, but nobody is entitled to affirmation from the world around them.

(using a throwaway acc for reasons)
as someone who was (unfortunately) born a hindu, i can say with confidence that it’s the most misogynistic and oppressive religion in the world. like the stuff about krishna is not even the tip of the iceberg lmao. the hindu mfs here defending that shit are deeply brainwashed with hindutva propaganda (like most hindus in india). there are legit temples here that don’t allow women and dalits to enter, menstruating women are seen as impure and r not allowed to enter certain places just to mention a few of the nonsenses. i don’t want to go on for too long but it’s truly a despicable religion that needs to die. what’s funny to me is that the hindutva mfs malding at your post will gladly rb posts about bs in islam or christianity but no one can point out the shit in their faith 😂
By "born a hindu" I'm guessing you mean born in a hindu family. Thankfully religions don't run in our blood and I'm glad you figured your way out of it.
I feel like most westerners don't really take Hinduism seriously. Even the most abrasive american atheists (you know the type) don't mention it. It feels condescending almost, like it's not a religion worth talking about, like it's inoffensive child play. But as we've seen, hindus take their beliefs just as seriously as christians and muslims.
I had heard about the temples forbidden to women before yes. I'd be interested if you want to share your experience.

Tagging (anyone and everyone cus idk who’s done what lmao): @risingsh0t @bbrocklesnar @roofgeese @unholymilf @florbelles @arklay @captmactavish @shellibisshe @simonxriley @queennymeria @marivenah @nokstella @mrdekarios @thedeadthree @jacobseed @jackiesarch @heroofpenamstan @dameayliins @carlosoliveiraa @shadowglens @fenharel @alexxmason @tekehu @malefiicarum @brujah @solasan @arthrmorgann @garaviel @baldurians @jendoe + @nightbloodbix
Tumblr media
A BIRD IN A COVERED CAGE;
They left without you. Put you out of sight and therefore out of mind. You sing every morning like nothing's changed, talk to the walls to keep yourself company. Just you, the darkness and your own denial that you are completely alone. Nurse your wounds, get yourself some water.
RITUALISTIC CANNIBALISM;
eating others as a religious act, a form of human sacrifice or tradition in the name of a deity. you care a lot about your grades, or used to as a child, and would cry if you got a b in English. you are a people pleaser. you are good at self discipline. you desperately want to achieve success, in whatever way that means to you, and feel the need to devote your life to something you find bigger than yourself, in order for your life to have meaning. you probably had an eating disorder. or an anxiety disorder
Tumblr media
BLOOD IN A LAMBS WOOL;
You're the victim, right? It hurts, everyday it hurts. It's obvious you're tainted, pulled into hell as soon as you stepped upon earth. You'll never know peace, you'll never know a life without violence. Im sorry. Wash your face and your hands, don't let your wounds carve deeper.
SURVIVAL CANNIBALISM;
eating others to prevent starvation and not as a part of a cultural practice, usually as a result of an emergency or a famine. my sweet baby angel, you have not been touched by the darkness. I'm sorry if this scared you. you are a normal person with normal person problem. you want to get married. you dance with your friends. and you would never ever eat them (right?) it's surprising what can happen to a person, when pushed to the extreme though. have you ever wondered about that?
Tumblr media
A PILE OF BUBBLES, AN IRIDESCENT MESS;
Well aren't you just all over? You're appealing but you're fragile, one wrong move and you lose all that you are. You were meant to be stepped on, broken, but the joy you bring to onlookers is unmatched. Do with that as you will and take very good care of yourself, have a snack.
AUTO CANNIBALISM;
the practise of eating parts of ones own body. you consider yourself an introvert. private and reserved. you don't like asking for help, even when you need it. secretly your biggest fear is being abandoned, which is why you abandon others first. in the end you will be your own destroyer. you stay in a dark room, curled up like a worm, eating yourself.
Tumblr media
DOG TEETH;
You're vicious, but you're afraid. You have to make the first punch, and make sure your opponent can't land one. But you need to stop seeing everyone as an enemy. The only one being violent is you, your anger and your defensiveness is killing you. Take a nap, rest your head and clear your mind. Come back in the morning.
FILIAL CANNIBALISM;
the eating of one's own offspring. eating offspring has been documented in a variety of mammal and bird species – as well as fish, insects and spiders. hunger and quality control are among the many reasons proposed for this counterintuitive survivor of natural selection. you think of yourself as a logical person, and you probably went through a hardcore atheist phase. you consider this logic a virtue. to you, logic and emotion are two opposites, where one is superior to the other. wait until you find out that logic is an emotion. you are a great problem solver. your partiality towards objectivism though, is often less helpful than you realise. you have a hard time taking criticism.

reviewing the v3 death portraits
(i'm gonna assume tsumugi was painting these personally, because it's more interesting that way).
Tumblr media
i had a very clear memory of these being A) in that lovely danganronpa pink, and B) distinctly spray-paint-esque, and apparently neither of these things are true?? weird. anyway, i can't find any specific symbolism for either of these - but that's fine! they do a good job at establishing a baseline for the other characters to deviate from.
Tumblr media
oh, ryouma...this one makes me SO fucking sad. he doesn't even get the care of a personally painted X, just a fucking stamp. it really drives home tsumugi's casual exploitation of him - he was never anything special to her, just a convenient way to round out the cast with an easy victim. i can so clearly see her stamping it and then sliding it off her desk as casually as any other paperwork. a completed task.
as for kirumi's - hers looks like it was done with a paint marker, or at least a thin paintbrush held steadily and carefully. the neat, thin lines really suit her. (the little smudges clearly betray it as done by someone with less skill than she had, though).
Tumblr media
after the BITTERLY atheistic conclusion of ch3, angie's portrait feels a bit mocking - but i really don't think it was intended that way. a sweet, affectionate doodle with absolutely zero thought to how insensitive it is to the ACTUAL HUMAN WHO DIED is so in character for tsumugi, isn't it? same for tenko - the little pinwheel curls might be a bittersweet memorial from a true friend, but from the person who led you to your death?
anyway i thought for ages that the splatter on kiyo's portrait was mimicking the fire from his execution, and i'm still like 80% sure that's the truth, but looking closer - doesn't it look like a mouth and nose right above the right side of his hat? the rest of it could be sweeping hair, too...i see faces in everything tho so maybe i'm making this up sndhsgf.
Tumblr media
miu's probably doesn't require any explanation, but just in case you didn't know - XXX is an old-timey way to mark "adult" things, sometimes alcohol or drugs but most commonly sexual content. it's very appropriate for miu and i'm sure she would've loved it, lmao. (i've also recently grown fond of the theory that miu was intended to be the first killer, and tsumugi disliked her just as much as kodaka does - which makes the thought of her angrily scribbling out the Xs VERY funny).
i can't find any particular meaning to gonta's - i thought maybe the forking on the left line was deliberate, but it seems like the same type of smudges everyone's has on closer inspection. oh well!
Tumblr media
ohhh, kokichi's. this one is LAYERED and INCREDIBLY PETTY. a checkmark, really!? it's not the dismissiveness of ryouma's stamp - tsumugi personally checked him off her list. and just in case you weren't sold on how much she hates him yet, it's the only mark to cover the dead person's mouth. ouch!! (i've also read that checkmarks can mean 'incorrect' in japan when they mean 'correct' in the west, which is another contradiction to send him out with).
i think kaito's is pretty obvious - it's two little comets. again, would be sweet if it weren't coming from tsumugi. also the top one looks like a middle finger LMAO
