Hi! I love your youtube channel & I think you're super cool! I'm a newer follower and was wondering if you could give a summary of the concept of Fostered---it sounds like a really interesting series!

Yes I can!! Fostered is too thicc for me to give extensive summaries (unless y’all want this) and there is very little you need to know from the earlier books to understand the current ones! That’s because as myself and the series have aged, its genre, age category, and plot points have changed!

Here’s a small outline of the main characters:

Here’s a breakdown (CW: there’s a lot of violence/convo about mental illness/potentially triggering content in these summaries, so tread with caution):

Fostered (book 1) to Resisted (book 3):

These books (Fostered, Hunted, Resisted) are probably the most harmonious out of the 6 (7 including Moth Work) so far! That’s because for a long time, I believed Fostered would end at three books (initially a standalone, then duology). They’re all closely linked through the “foster homes” plot (hence the name of the series) and are obviously the most dystopian of the books (all three are also YA). You can feel the 2014 dystopian vibes in this book lol. I wrote this summary 5 years ago for my first ask ever and it sums up that idea:

The book takes place in the not-too-distant future where children who’ve committed crimes, are neglected, or have chosen to, are sent to behavioural detention centres – what everyone else that’s not the government like to call ‘foster homes’. The story revolves around a fifteen-year-old girl named Reeve who’s lived two years in a ‘foster home’ after being accused of her sister’s murder. Following an accident that she caused which subsequently led to her escape of her foster home, she stumbles across a group of kids, who like her, have gone through the lifestyle and also have escaped. She makes an alliance with them and everything seems in its place until she finds out that a team of hunters are searching for her because of the same accident. Unable to remember anything that happened from the event, she then learns that maybe all things don’t point to her – what really happened on the day she escaped?

I wrote these three books so quickly (though at the time, as a thirteen-year-old, it felt like drafting took forever). I started Fostered in October of 2014, and by May of 2015, I was halfway through Resisted :))))). How?? These books are all above 85k??? I could never!!!

FOSTERED (book 1 - YA dystopian):

Follows the above plot. What isn’t mentioned above is how this book starts. We start with Reeve (15 at the time–a baby!!!) chillin in an abandoned storage unit she was hoping to use as shelter. HOWEVER, plot twist of the season–there are already people there!

She’s semi-ambushed by these people who she later learns are our good ol’ pals Foster and Harrison. The boys are also taking care of a 6-year-old girl named Essie who they love fiercely!! They’re sketched out by Reeve, which we later find out is because–they! know! her! 

Foster, Harrison, and Reeve were actually all the closest pals in a ‘foster home’ they called WAFFLE. Reeve forgets that during the disastrous accident she causes that separates them (she blows up the foster home lmaooo) but lookie here–the squad is reunited! Eventually everyone comes to love each other (though it ain’t like that in the beginning) + Foster and Reeve have a romance which I find so bizarre now?? They would never.

The squad is being “hunted” by a group of “chasers” (I LOVE dystopian lool) headed by a woman named Red who is actually?? a badass? She tries to kill them a bunch of times, Reeve kills Lonan’s sister by using her as a human shield, Essie dies, I’m awful!

HUNTED (book 2 - YA dystopian):

After Essie’s death, the group is shook! Harrison especially as he is *soft* and the “leader” of the group. To protect his other ducklings who are now the most sought after people in America lmao (Foster and Reeve), he does something SCANDALOUS and joins the *government* AKA all the evil people putting innocent children in these awful detention centres. What a 180! Essentially, he does this to purposefully manipulate investigations into Foster and Reeve away from them, but Reeve doesn’t know this so she’s cheesed when she finds out (she feels #betrayed)!

Harrison’s departure of the group triggers the group’s breakup. Harrison joins an *elite* section of the government that *I believe* tries to wrangle runaway foster kids?? This group is lead by our other good pal Lonan and this is the first book he appears in! He takes Red’s place as antagonist in this book.

The group also includes Holly, a badass who is also Foster’s older sister (and also Lonan’s first serious girlfriend)! She’s scary! She also dies by hanging in a blood-drinking cult mid-way through this book! don’t! ask! Margo is this group’s tech analyst, and she’s a mentally distant hippie (and Harrison’s first and last serious girlfriend which obvi didn’t work out lol he’s gay!) Idk what Harrison’s job was here, but he learns techy stuff from Margo!

This book is important because it establishes Lonan, who continues to be a pivotal character as the series progresses. It also establishes Lonan and Harrison’s relationship. Obvi Lonan is the antagonist in this book and won’t make his redemption arc for another 1book lol, but him and Harrison have a bit of a bizarre relationship. Though they’re almost rivals, they almost adore being each other’s rivals (but don’t tell them that)? After Harrison leaves Lonan’s team, the squad essentially is *hunted* by them, hence the book title lol. 

By the end of this book, a few important things happen! Lonan kills Margo (remember, Harrison’s first and last girlfriend lol, we could say Lonan was killing his competition lol is that too much), this obviously reinforces his role as bad guy! After the book’s events, Lonan eventually overtakes the group and they’re all imprisoned! Love it!

RESISTED (book 3 - YA dystopian):

This is my favourite Fostered book because there’s just so much tea! We start in “headquarters” AKA Lonan’s pride and joy! After he kills off his old boss so he can be Ultimate Antagonist (actually because she essentially killed his girlfriend ahaha), he’s the Man in Charge and power trippin like crazy. 

Reeve is separated from Foster and Harrison who are also in HQ because she’s mentally unwell. Lonan has given her the job of executing people (because he is evil) which she ain’t diggin! so Lonan takes it upon himself to address her mental health concerns (which obviously isn’t helping because they mutually hate each other). 

Eventually, Reeve barters with Lonan for what she wants by using Holly’s death (which only she and Foster witnessed) as leverage. As I mentioned above, Lonan essentially kills/drives away his entire *elite government squad* which means! He needs another one! Reeve uses this as an opportunity and says WELL you COULD hire Foster and Harrison. Lonan does and VOILA we suddenly have a new squad!

This is really where we build a relationship between Lonan and Reeve who have previously done nothing but try to kill each other! They actually bond in this bizarre kind of way. While they still don’t like each other, they mutually understand each other more than Foster and Harrison do as in many ways, Lonan and Reeve have both done the same awful things (lots of killing people :))). 

This all builds up to the epic reveal that they are actually half siblings (they share a mother) and oh DOES THE TEA START BOILING. This news causes major tension in the OG squad (Reeve, Foster, Harrison) as Foster and Harrison think Lonan has done too many irredeemable things to be forgiven, despite the fact that he and Reeve are related. They are right! However, Reeve isn’t so quick to decide. 

She and Lonan go through a lot together (including kidnapping! attempted murder! An explosion! Reeve pretending to be a corpse!) which are still some of my favourite things to re-read and the reason I love this book the most out of all the books I’ve written. This is where #redemption arc occurs!

This book is too long for me to cover everything, but essentially their relationship is the most important! The book ends when the squad (now joined by Lonan) is forced out of hiding because Reeve is injured and actually needs real medical attention! This leads to ANOTHER separation, with Reeve heading back to a foster home for the first time in a few years!

Hollowed (book 4) to Rewired (book 6)

HOLLOWED (book 4 - YA (?) dystopian (?))

Book four is my least favourite book of the 6 and that’s because it’s melodramatic and I was finding my writing style! It’s not quite appropriate for YA because of its violent subject matter, but wouldn’t appeal to adults, so it’s a bit category-less. Dystopian elements still exist, but are less relevant, so it’s also a bit muddled in term of genre.

All you need to know in terms of events are that Reeve meets someone named Lincoln in the foster home she’s put in (see previous) who ends up being a horrifically abusive person. He sort of shifts into the role as antagonist, though from this book on, the lines between good guys and bad guys blur. Hollowed also introduces a new character–Glenne! Glenne is Lonan’s second serious girlfriend and remnants of this relationship still show up in current Fostered spinoffs (tho she will be irrelevant in Houses With Teeth most likely). 

SPLINTERED (book 5 - YA?????)

The genre and category of this book are impossible to define. We continue almost where we left off in book four, and this book is pretty unremarkable in terms of events lol. The squad remains the same, except toward the end, we’re introduced to Darren, a dude from California who hears about Lonan’s *elite government squad* (before the government disowned him) and hopes they can help him locate his missing brother (tho he don’t reveal this until book six). 

This book is mostly about Lonan’s declining mental health that still has not gotten better. Some hints of Lonan and Harrison’s relationship getting closer are also dropped in this book.

REWIRED (book 6 - Adult (???) literary fiction sometimes???)

The category of this book is bizarre. It begins as weirdly maybe almost YA, but dips into adult literary fiction at some points. This book is where I really grasped my style and so the genre and category reflect that transition. 

What you need to know about Rewired is the progression of Darren and Reeve’s relationship as it goes from acquaintances to PALS to MORE THAN PALS to I don’t! want to be! your! pal! This book is so weird and disjointed because of this transition away from YA dystopian and into adult literary fiction. We also get even more Lonan and Harrison relationship development as Reeve meddles her way into business that is not hers!

MOTH WORK (spinoff - no categories anymore I have no idea)

The most recent Fostered book! We finally get to see Lonan and Harrison’s relationship on the page and oh boy! Is there tea! As Lonan struggles to grasp trauma from childhood, and Harrison struggles to help him, their relationship goes to places it ain’t never been before! This eventually leads to a much needed separation where Lonan explores a new relationship with Eliza (his father’s ex oooooof) and Harrison figures out what he needs in order to live a healthier, happier life. MW is a bridge between book six and seven.

HOUSES WITH TEETH (book 7 - adult literary fiction *I’m hoping*)

I have yet to write this book, but we’re back in Reeve’s head! Here’s a synopsis I’ve shared before:

After escaping a toxic relationship, twenty-year-old Reeve disappears for the second time in one year. She’s drawn to Wicker, a mealy town outside New York City, whose disappearances of affluent girls has caught her attention. The day she arrives, a sinkhole buries one of them in the front yard of her new home, a fixer-upper she shares with estranged friend, Foster. Quickly she falls prey to speculation by herself and others, who try to connect her to the tragedy. And even stranger, false recognitions as the girl in the ground, and the many other missing Wicker girls make her feel more and more like one of them–these alluring, unknown women. 

This book is very much my vibe now as a writer, however, it’s been difficult to re-integrate back into Reeve’s head with all Fostered’s dystopian elements removed! I don’t have much else to share about this book since I know so little about it, but it is essentially my current project.

So I hope that was helpful! There’s a lot of unexplored territory that I worry might be impossible to get into because I legitimately do not remember a lot @sarahkelsiwrites calls me a fake fan lol (I genuinely am), but if y’all ever want to know more, I am 100% down to share whatever! Turkish shows I watched or tried to this week

Because why not! The good, the bad, and the ugly

Ask ve Ceza (Love and Punishment) - oldie but goodie about a woman who gets pregnant from a one-night stand. On the plus side, her partner in that is hot and also smitten at first sight. On the minus side, he gets married to someone else shortly after, his family is psycho, and the heroine doesn’t want the kid. The chemistry between the leads is great. They also play genuine adults, which is amazing (and the heroine is allowed to be ambivalent about the pregnancy; the only reason she doesn’t go through with the abortion is that she has a medical condition that would make it problematic.) It’s an “old” show and it’s rather startling to see how much more frank and less conservative it is than modern ones. I am on ep 7.  

Carpisma (Collision) - I am sort of watching it, because I love the leading actors and the concept of it (four people whose lives intersect in a literal car crash, who unite to take out an evil dude), but the execution is full of holes. Still, Kivanc plus an OTP or two means I won’t ditch it, even though I don’t love it as much as I thought I would. I am on ep 9 (so yes, behind.)

Halka (The Ring) - objectively speaking, this is probably the most solid of all the airing Turkish shows I am watching, but the fact that crime/detective/conspiracy genres are not really my thing, keeps it from being n1 favorite for me. Two men who are connected in complicated fashion trying to infiltrate a crime ring that took out their father (sort of, long story), tough mob girls etc. It’s very good. I have watched 8 eps. 

Hercai (Unreliable) - If you have been anywhere near my tumblr in the last few days, you saw my obsession over this. Yes, I realize, this is basically a mix of a Rosemary Rogers opus and a Japanese cellphone novel, and no, I don’t care. The old-fashioned and exotic to me setting, the delicious “he marries her for revenge on her father but falls for her” set-up, the chemistry between the actors, the sheer emo meloness of it all. I love it. Only one ep is out and I have devoured it.

Kalbimin Sultani (Sultan of my Heart) - if you want historical realism or nuanced politics, look elsewhere. If you love a gorgeous fairy tale though, come right in. Our heroine is a young Russian woman who is hired to be the governess to the Sultan’s children, but in reality she is there to spy. Unfortunately, she and the studly Sultan fall in love. Obstacles present themselves (though at least unlike some of the other Turkish heroes, the already-married status is no problem for the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire.) It really is darling. It was a Russian-Turkish co-production and I am watching the Russian version (with 24 eps of 45 minutes each) because while the Turks ended it early due to ratings, Russian TV ran the entire thing. I am on ep 1. 

Kara Sevda (Black Love) - sometimes, I am just in the mood for an exquisitely made and acted tragic love story. The hero of this is a smart, hardworking young man from a poor family. He meets a beautiful rich girl who falls for him and is willing to give up her society friends and wealth to be the wife of a mining engineer in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately, a wealthy psycho who is obsessed with her manages to part the two. When the OTP meets again, it’s years later. She is unhappily married to the psycho, he is a rising star in his field, and they never got over each other. Bring on the tissues and the smelling salts. I am on ep 2.

Kardes Cocuklari (Sisters’ Children) - I am hardly the arbiter of highbrow tastes (see my obsession with Hercai), but this is pure soapy trash. Ancient secrets, lots of boring baddies getting too much screen time, romance sidelined due to weird family drama etc all mean I watch it in the background or fast forward through it. Still, there is enough there (mainly Afra, who I really love) to keep me watching. It’s by the writer of Fazilet and you can see a lot of the same issues Fazilet had, but sadly without the addictive obsession that was YagHaz. I am all caught up with this one.

Kuzgun (Raven) - revenge with a dash of romance where our protagonist plans revenge on all who destroyed his family and turned his childhood into hell. That includes his childhood BFF who is now (of course) a stunning blonde. This is somewhat less romantic and more revengy than I wanted, but it’s still a solid, deliciously angsty good time. Five eps are out and I have watched them all.

Samanyolu (The Milky Way) - they are first cousins in love! But she spurns him for an abusive husband! But never fear, that marriage ends and they may get together! Exclamation exclamation exclamation! I am only one ep in, but this is deliciously overwrought. It’s an older, complete show, so I will probably watch at my leisure aka very slowly.

Tek Yurek (United Heart) - it a hockey sports drama with some romance and other stuff thrown in. I liked the first ep, but I frankly don’t have enough time, so I will probably go back to it when my viewing list is shorter.

Vuslat (Reunion) - I tried, I really tried. I made it through five episodes before giving up out of sheer puzzled boredom. I could not follow the plot because it was so disjointed and rambling, most of the characters were unpleasant and boring (that includes the heroine - that actress is neither great at acting nor does she possess much onscreen charisma. Her chemistry with her leading man is nonexistent.) It seems to be doing well enough, but it’s cancelled to me. 

Yemin (Promise) - I have found a weekend family kdrama in a Turkish envelope! Our heroine is basically saintly - when we first see her, she is in prayer. She takes care of pigeons and her dead mother’s grave. She is so dutiful she agrees to marry some man she doesn’t know because her elderly “godfather” is dying and it’s his wish. Surprisingly, I love her anyway. But I feel bad she is going to be saddled with her arranged husband, who has little to recommend anyone. Frankly, I am more interested in whatever story will evolve around his very young uncle who is a single father to a mute little girl. He is not only good-looking but a really decent man. I kind of wish he was the one entering the arranged marriage. I am two eps in.

Invent the parts to make it work. How would it cost to make & if you planning to sell it or make & sell or distribute yourself or outsource? Make it plain enough for the children could understand. See the vision, write it down & make it plain. Ladies & Gentle, I have Vision. What I am about to share with you is from that world & think about the kind of America would it become? Then you would see why God told "if he wins, he is going to jail" in 2016, because, in a previous vlog episode, I had said, "if he wins, I am not going to do TheDdreamsInc. I would serious about that too. God woke me up to tell me because He knew, I would had TRIPPED, as I did when I woke to hear that he had won. I am just going to give you some of what, I didn't want him to get credit for. One day TheDdreamsInc would have 9 llc's & 3 Non-Profits with 1 of these division would own a chain of, free to all, Medical/Dental/All/Rehab/Natural/pharmacy Centers in 200 US locations & 500 Internationals & the 2nd Non Profit will do transit, day-care, mail/print/money/business store center in the hood & rural areas, a healthcare Insurance international in all 50 US states & 10 territories & 100 nations & Pharmaceutical company (don't ask why). Costs? Well see the medical center will be staff with medical & natural professionals & that means they "protect" health, so they would Knights, The2HKOPs tm. & would have a starting pay of $1.500,000 & up & a staff of 1,500 as Boss Hours #1 C (7 hours shifts & 1 shift with only 4 hour last shift, a team for Tues to Fri & a new team for Sat to Mon, be 6 months on & 6 months at Boss Hours #1 C Schedule by TheDdreamsInc). According to my estimation, it cost $33.6 Trillion for 700 Medical centers, Health Insurance, & Knights payroll budgets & this is just for health projects, I got many projects to target & fix many problems.. Guess what, I am going to have it too. And pay my people like that because I use to be an employee & always wanted to treated & paid that way, so now or soon I would have the chance to do so. I don't like jobs because of how they steal your gifts for lesser value in return. So when my need to get "People Power" to try & help my business grow, I found several issues, in my way. No money, to hire anybody, I ain't HIRED myself yet, I am working "Pro Bono" for my company. The next thing is, I don't like jobs, so why would I create jobs? So I began designing a dream job & when I did the math to how that would cost, I realize, "that's crazy" & impossible. It was then, I started to pity employers, some of them just have the money to create dream jobs. Then I created a pricing system for my brands & created The BOSSICOL Club by TheDdreamsInc (Busy Tribe). When I franchise it to other businesses, your "jobs" will have no other choice but to pay & treat you better, or they would lose candidates for those jobs, to this what God gave me. It was He who "pointed out my job's nastiness" in 2000 & Healed me when I realized that I was of a contract that they made me sign, after hearing one of the ideas of a product. Ever since then, BOSS is what I focused on but now BOSSICOLs Boss Commission members which means, instead making labor commission, I would pay them $374,4000 & up a year to do "duties" for my company. But my Knights? They have to be part-time employees because I want their 100. I have to create any jobs, I would with these knights. Forget about my beef with law enforcement, they would have to face God on that, but these Knights are not for my protection, but to the people's protection. I called them Hardhead, because I mirrored my 12 divisions after my characteristics, so if a family said to me "I'll be back, I am about to go see what this girl is talking about, she said her baby daddy & his friends over there tripping, I'll be back, stay here". Then he leaves. Now, of course my cousin ain't expecting me to just sit there & wait for him to get jump or killed, does he? So when my cousin arrives at his baby momma's house, he closes his door & walk up the door & before he reaches the door, he'll hear "doomp doomp doomp doomp". Look back & see me, my brother, & his brothers walking up to the house too. Of course, he would say "I told y'all not to come, Y'all hard-headed". I would respond, "I want to see a fight too, so if there is a fight, we just want to make sure that it's an even fight, that's all cuz". So if I have to hire, I can't trust them to be just independent contractors nor contractors, because of high sensitive inventions, plans, & secrets of operations that they'll be protecting. I need their 100. To pay them as they matter because when my family, BOSSICOLS & their families, Committees & their families, Customers & their families, & all Human beings are at stake. Plus they'll have access to top-level secrets too, I need for them to be employed by both TheDdreamsInc & The Hard Head knights of Protection division & any other division they'll duty too. Which means they'll 3 jobs & possibly get themselves a BOSSICOL agreement when they on their 6 months rest time. (probably month to month off to on). So If my destiny requires a Knight for protection, then I rather they be dream jobs & give vets a better job option when returning from duty of our nation. If they become homeless off this kind of money & healthcare & time off to chase their dreams too, then they "on something". Dear Government? Are you against God? Then why are you against me? What about helping people makes you so afraid of me? Is it that you afraid black people would unite behind me & that would make your worst nightmare come true? Well, you're off a lot, I will unite the world behind me. Remember God? Yeah, He seems to believe that this is HIS Planet. Ain't nobody showed me a title to it yet, so I am going "assume", that HE IS RIGHT. So black people, as you know, I DON'T KISS BOOTY. My mission is you focused, but not solely, Hebrew & Gentile. I don't want to be your buddies, nope. I am an entrepreneur & you're public servants, y'all stay in y'all lane & I will stay in mine, but we can help each other can we? Yeah, this plan would make your jobs easy, or some of your voters won't like me because of my works to help the people who need it. Most people have decided that money is above life. They are to get an EYE-OPENING Experience from "some".. Some Elites? God is about to speak to them & they will be looking for me soon. In 1 sell, I would be rich & put it right to work, because I don't care to be rich, I know money is only a tool to get stuff done & I am going to USED the MESS OUT OF IT. And the beginning of a new way of doing stuff. Stop fighting God because Change always comes. Please Read a book call "Who move my cheese", it's a book about learning to adapt to change in business or life. Yes, you better adapt to this change or not adaptation would destroy your survival. I have already seen what it would do. Dr. King seen it in a dream, I seen it while I daydreamed, ever since I was a child. I now know that it was God preparing me for it. And He said if I had the vision, that He would provide me with the Provision. To President... But I want to publically state that I want to apologize to Donald Trump (I haven't typed his name since he won). I despised you for your racism but now I Know it is Facts of what God told me about you is true & I now feel sorry for you. I can't imagine the pain & dread you are experiencing now. I felt dread before & it is an ugly thing to feel. I also want to thank you for calling back those planes. It showed me that you're not a bad person at all, just racist. A bad person, likes those around you pushing for that war, would have started that war because you could. But you called it back & that showed leadership. I knew that a person can go to jail as an entrepreneur because they think like an entrepreneur would led them from thinking & acting as entrepreneurs & oops. Something like what you've done, huh? Now there is elderly white women wearing matching 'I'm a Racist B" t-shirts in the open. You done that & the American people would be better for it. Because the way of hate has welcomed greed which both have become saftey concerns to the body of the world. Hate, Greed, Corruption & willful ignorance are the core issue to the world's problems. If we consumers would untie & stop supporting those who support that stuff, we can weed it out better. Thank you for that. I still do feel sorry for you because you got in way too over your head didn't you? First, when I heard about you & your wife crying when you won & clutching your Bible, I knew why you were crying. But clutching the Bible says to me in that time, YOU BELIEVED in HIM. Good. Then I read about you 2 looking as if you just lost a loved one. It had just hit you to what had just happened huh? I am not a prophet yet, I may be already, just don't hear God like that, He only communicate to me when it is important for me to hear. But I do be getting messages from God through other people & directly from him. The first He did that was to tell me about your future if you won. But comes from what God said that night & my gut. You will not be executed for these crimes, which are the penalty for treason, but you won't be. No God said to me that night, you're going to jail if you won, nothing else. And I believe that is all you would get. No doing yourself harm neither. You can not REPENT if you're dead, God loves you too. You Clutched your Bible before, you should turn back to Him now & He would guide you to what you must do. Sorry dude, you gotta go to jail, because little is watching this. Let me ask? Have you ever got a whooping? No? Figures because if he had, then you would have had a thought of "I can get a whooping if I done this", but since you never experienced that through childhood, then you don't have that. Show me a rich man or woman who still whoop their kids & you're looking at the best down to earth rich person, then adult on the planet. Got money through family, but still got that moral compass which pops or moms whooped into him. I forgive you too. But this is as far I would go too with this apology, because I know how your followers would try & use me as "ploy" they better not dare use my stuff against my will.
