Hc - Luke gets in trouble at school and forced to join the drama club latest production and try out , where he ends up getting the lead along with Julie (who they know of each other through there moms friendship. But the more they spend time together even outside school the more they fall for each other. And finally get together (sorry for the rambling sometimes have trouble writing what i want to say )
I had this whole response typed out before my computer crashed and it got lost in the void.
I’m gonna mince some details just in case it happens again, but I love this concept.
Luke’s a bad boy on campus. It’s hard to get him engaged in anything school-related, but the teachers just know that he’s got untapped potential, especially Ms. Harrison, the theater teacher.
The band is on Luke’s mind all day every day. And he gets in trouble at school a lot because of it- borrowing the instruments from the music room for a quick jam session, pasting their gig posters over Carrie Wilson’s student body president ones, parking their band van in the teacher’s lot (it’s a lot closer!).
But Luke’s latest scheme lands him in hot water with the principal.
He thought it was a great idea to hijack lunchtime and turn it into an impromptu Sunset Curve concert. He and the boys hid on the stage over looking the cafeteria and they even bribed the sound tech to help them out.
And in the middle of lunch, they burst through the curtains and started jamming out for everyone.
And Luke may have gotten carried away.
He may have jumped onto the nearest lunch table, treating it like his own personal runway, hopping and skipping over people’s lunches.
He may have miscalculated the space and so when he slid into a power stance, he may have spilled orange juice onto some poor girl’s homework.
He didn’t have time to apologize to the fuming girl before he’s up and running, inciting the now crowd of students into a riot with his music.
Let’s just say that tables were tipped over, food was everywhere, and Principal Lessa was not happy.
It was a success in Luke’s eyes.
But then Lessa pulls him into the office and oddly enough, for Luke, Ms. Harrison is present. That’s where they give him the ultimatum: they suspend him and the boys for their little stunt, or they have to audition/ partake in Ms. Harrison’s spring musical.
And Luke bawks at the idea. Because they’re a rock band! They don’t do show tunes!
But he takes the deal, mainly so his parents don’t get any more pissed at him.
The boys all show up to auditions, and apart from Alex, the rest of them aren’t super into it.
He sits down in the auditorium, waiting of his turn, when he notices the next person up for audition- Julie Molina.
He sorta knows her. Their moms are in book club together. When she auditions, Luke notices two things- 1) her voice is killer and 2) the script she’s holding is stained with orange juice.
Whoops.
She hops down the stage and catches his eye and she glares at him. And given the round of applause and Ms. Harrisons’s praise- Julie Molina seems to be the queen of the theater department. And Luke managed to have pissed her off.
Great...
Then he goes up to audition, all ready to half-ass it because really doesn’t want to be a part of the play. So when it’s his turn, Luke doesn’t take it seriously- he purposefully flubs the words, he doesn’t act from the script- instead reciting a monologue from the Simpsons that made everyone, but Julie, laugh.
Ms. Harrison only nods, and notifies him that the cast list would be put up at the end of the day.
Luke, thinking he tanked it, doesn’t bother to stop in front of the cast list posted like everyone else does at the end of the school day. But when he tries to pass, everyones eyes are on him, including his friends’.
“Um... Luke,” Alex says from his spot in front of the bulletin board, “You might wanna see this,”
He pushes past the crowd until he can read the cast list.
Oh no.
He made the lead.
Luke’s confused. He thought he put on the worst audition ever?
“Congratulations,” he hears from beside him and he sees Julie, arms crossed, not the least bit happy.
And that’s when he reads the rest of the cast list- Julie’s the other lead.
They’re going to be love interests.
When it’s time for rehearsals, it’s an utter disaster. Luke’s never been in any production ever, so being part of a team, that’s not just him and the boys, is throwing him off.
He can sing yeah- but he dancing? Acting? Not his forte. And Julie knows this, and gets so frustrated with him whenever they rehearse a scene together.
But when it comes time to the duet- oddly enough, they sound great together. Amazing even. Luke wants to say that ever since hearing how their voices complimented each other’s, Julie eases up on him a little.
Some weeks go by, and slowly but surely, Luke and the boys are warming up to theater culture. Alex, Reggie, and Bobby seem to be having a good time learning their parts and making new friends with the cast and crew, and pretty soon Luke and Julie form a tentative truce.
One day, Luke closes his locker and gets spooked by Julie leaning beside him.
“Hey,”
“Hi?” They don’t talk during school. Only at rehearsal. So this is new.
“How much of the songs have you memorized?” Okay, right down to it, Luke thinks. But it’s Julie- theater is her life.
“All of them, don’t worry,”
“And your lines?”
“...”
“I thought so. You called my character by Kayla’s character’s name. Do you even know what this play is about?”
“Of course I do,”
“We’ll see about that,” Julie then scribbles something on a piece of paper and hands it to him, “My place. After school. We will be running lines,”
Luke starts going to Julie’s almost every other day to go through lines, and also because he needs all the help he can get when it comes to acting.
Some days are good, others- well, are left to be desired, but Luke tries to get Julie to loosen up and he coaxes her into taking breaks and going out to eat during their one-on-one sessions. And he starts to find himself actually enjoying her company, and she with him- even if she’s reluctant to admit it.
But over time, Luke starts to get a schedule down, now invested in the musical, he makes sure he gets to school on time, gets through his classes, rehearse, and days when he’s not rehearsing- he’s with Julie, working on their stuff.
Luke’s mom notices a change in him, and even though it’s more music stuff that he seems to be getting up to, she doesn’t mind. And when Luke sees that his mom smiles every time he mentions that he’s off to see Julie, he knows their moms have definitely been talking to each other.
When he would get to the Molina’s, he would pass Rose, greet her, and say that he’s going to be running lines with Julie.
“Right,”
“We are,” he insists, one time, after catching Rose smirking.
“It’s just, I’ve been in theater myself when I was younger. I know what ‘running lines’ mean,”
And to say that Luke shows up blushing to the garage where Julie was waiting was an understatement.
But as much as Luke and Julie are killing it in their performances, there’s one part that trips Luke up.
There’s a scene where their two characters confess their love for each other, following a group musical number, but Luke can’t get into it.
He throws the script in frustration at the couch, “This is hopeless.”
“No, you’re doing good. It’s just missing something,” Julie says, pulling him closer to her, “You’re reading the lines. You’re not saying them,”
“What does that mean?”
“You need to channel the character. His thoughts and feelings in the moment, and you embody that. You show the audience that,”
“So what do I need to do?”
“You need to look like you’re in love with me, okay?”
“Okay,”
They run it a couple of times before they do it at rehearsal the next day. And after he and Julie go over their love confession, Luke inwardly curses himself because he couldn’t focus and he was worried he messed up in front of everyone during such an intimate scene.
But once he concluded, Julie is looking up at him with an expression he’s never seen before, in surprised awe, and he could see a faint blush on her cheeks. And she ends up stammering into her part- something the Julie Molina never did.
Everyone in the production applauds them- Reggie, Alex, and Bobby look at Luke, wide-eyed.
Flynn comes up to them to show them the footage she captured of their rehearsal and Luke is stunned to see that his acting isn’t as terrible as he thought. In that moment, he really looked like he was in love with Julie as he said his lines.
And then it hit him.
The reason he couldn’t focus is because he had been too busy staring into Julie’s beautiful brown eyes, relishing the touch of her warm hand in his- and he didn’t even try to act, he said the lines as he normally would if he was talking.
He didn’t look like he was in love with Julie.
He was in love with Julie.
It gets awkward between them since then, and they haven’t been able to recapture that same spark as their previous performance. And now that they have gotten their parts down, there’s no need for Luke to keep visiting Julie any more, and they only see each other at rehearsals.
And then it comes- opening night.
They run through it without a hitch earlier before and everyone’s all excited for how it’s gonna play out.
Luke sees his parents out in the audience, chilling with the Molinas, and he stomachs his nerves before walking out and to perform.
The production is successful, only minor mishaps occur (aka Reggie’s props keep falling apart, so he had to make due with invisible ones for the time being).
And then it comes to the finale, the big scene. Luke goes in and delivers his lines, staring into Julie’s eyes and tries to channel the same feelings as before.
But when it’s Julie’s turn, she starts ad-libbing. She says her lines, but then she’s throwing in references that certainly aren’t relevant within the time period in which the musical takes place (”when you gave me your last strawberry for my frozen yogurt... I knew... I knew you were the one for me”), it makes the audience laugh but the heart was still there.
Luke’s confused until he realizes. It’s not Julie’s character confessing her feelings for Luke’s anymore.
It’s Julie confessing her feelings for Luke. Right there on stage. In front of everyone.
She went off-script for him...
After curtain call, and everyone is riding that post-opening night high, Luke catches Julie before she could go meet her family out in the hallway.
“Hey,”
“Hi,”
Luke pulls out his script, “Run it with me one last time?”
“Luke, what-”
“Humor me, please,”
Julie scans the script he hands to her. He’s circled their love confession scene, and when she reaches the bottom of the page, her eye catches a new, messily scribbled in stage direction.
“’And they kiss...” Julie reads, a smile slowly growing on her face, “...hopefully??”
They both laugh at the latter words, and Luke looks at her sheepishly.
“I mean... if it’s in the script, we gotta do it, right?”
“You’re such a dork,” Julie says before pulling him in for a kiss.
They pull away, and Luke has the audacity to smirk, “I believe this is what you call a ‘showmance’,”
Julie quirks an eyebrow at the new vocabulary, “Someone’s been paying attention.”
“I’ve learned a few things,” He nuzzles her nose against hers, “I had a pretty good teacher.”
“I have plenty more to teach you,”
“Oh really?”
“Like, for instance, how the warp party at Denny’s is a must,” She takes him by the hand and leads him out of the theater, giggling “Come on!”
They dash through the hallways until they come up on their friends and family, who were proud of their performances. Luke looks up from hugging his mom in time to see Ms. Harrison grinning at him and giving him a thumbs up.
‘Thank you,’ he mouths to the teacher.
Maybe theater wasn’t that bad of an idea after all...

Hide Your Love Away (Paul McCartney x fem! Royal! reader Oneshot)
From an anon request:  can you write Paul x reader oneshot or something where she’s going to have an arranged marriage the following day, which is forced by her family. but she doesn’t want it since she’s secretly dating Paul. So they go on their last date, pretending it’s their honeymoon just for one day since they know they have to be separated after that🥺(sry I’m a sucker for sad/angst fic with lil fluff)
Word Count: Less than 2K
Warnings: swearing, angst with fluff, mentions of weddings and sex. Lack of editing,
A/N: I hope you enjoy it! In order for the premise to work, I decided to make you a member of the noble class who has to marry into royalty  (I got inspired some by The Crown on Netflix, whoops) when you really love Paul. Much love to my angels @joeneslee @bens-jawline and @rhapsodyrecs for helping me when writers block stuck for this one!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I just met him, how can I marry him?” you asked with tears blinking in your eyes.
Sighing, you could tell the diadem on your mothers head was beginning to droop. Your father began cutting his meat with more fury. It made the metals on his suit follow in a clink, clink, clink.
“Because this marriage is important to us- to your whole family!” he said.
“But he…I…how do you know it will work?” you question. The diamonds on your necklace feel like an icy grip.
“That doesn’t matter, you will make it work. You always have. It’s the price you pay for your title. It’s going to secure everything. The Prince of Cardonia already agreed to it,” your mother said.
“I…”
“Y/N, you’re a duchess. You do understand the consequences if you don’t do this…money will fall, we’ll lose protection…our house, everything.”
Squeezing your hands together, you began to blink away tears.
“And think of how the alliance will help us, politically. Do you want our people to suffer?” your father pointed out.
You agreed to the match. In a way, you could be a good leader still. Carry out orders. Make changes. Protect people. But it was useless now.
In your room, you began dialing madly for his number. Pacing, the ring on the phone seemed to last forever. Who knew a chance encounter at a party for music led to you both. Then all these phone calls. The meetings. Then meetings led to more talk. And soon your mouths stopped talking and started kissing.
“Y/N…I’m speechless…and you…you can’t say no…” Paul wonders. Your throat feels dry.
“I don’t have a choice! I…I didn’t choose this, they just…announced it,” you mourned.
Those calls are made in plenty the following weeks. You get fitted for the wedding gown a month later. It’s a wide gown decked in lace covering your neck and shoulders with a long train that leaves lace down like a cape. Everyone says you look beautiful, but you don’t feel like it. You are constantly asked for details about the wedding. You gave boring answers. You don’t want to make it too fussy, but at least pretty. But it’s soulless, you feel like.
The day comes sooner, so Paul suggests something…a trip.
You don’t know how, but you managed to get away. You had a few trusted friends who covered for you
The prince of Cordonia isn’t like Paul at all. He is stiff and dull. Not abusive, you don’t think, but that could change.
Paul is super ambitious and works to get the secret trip right.
Right as you get on the plane, making sure it is private and paying guards and the pilot extra, you look at Paul.
“We could…pretend…”
“Pretend what?”
“Pretend we’re married. That we’re going to be at our honeymoon…I don’t know if we’ll get a chance to later…”
Smiling, you begin to drum your fingers on the tan plush arm of your seat.
“How in god’s name did a damn Beatle escape from the press?” you asked. The plane whirred as it soared over the air.
Paul sighs, taking a sip of water from a plastic cup.
“A lot of help, that’s what. Didn’t you get your friends in? Well, I got friends too,” he answered with a wink that always flipped your stomach.
“Where are you even going?”
He smiled.
“Ibiza, Spain!”
“Spain! I’ve never been to Spain!” you cried. Running up, you give him a girlish hug and kiss his cheek.
The jet plane landed and you both made your way to a hotel. Paul donned fake facial hair and as soon as you were led to your suite, he ripped it off. Though it looked red and tears stung his eyes.
“Oo-owww!”
You began to laugh hard at his reaction before tossing yourself on the feathery bed. That first night you both indulged in a large dinner while watching the sun go down and after much evening walking, settled into your bed for the first sleep after traveling.
When you both woke up, you saw his face first. Then your eyes flitted open. The sunshine of the Spanish morning poured in from over his head. He looked even more angelic.
“Hello husband!”
“Hello Wifey!” he said, kissing your forehead.
Both of you cuddle up against the cold air from the AC before ordering a breakfast and spending time in your pajamas…as well as out of them. Smiling and taking in each other. Chatting about the habits of his other band members and laughing at them like normal.
They explored old towns. Spanish architecture, orange and tall, surrounded them. You bought lunch at little local restaurants, usually saving room for cold gelato served in cones dusted with cinnamon. It was touristy. It was cliche. It was perfect.
Both of you go through markets all afternoon when it’s too hot to do anything else. Thanking the heavens for shade and cheering at the sight of a working fan. One market had a tendency to be overpriced. Not that neither of you couldn’t afford it.
Glancing over there was a young woman eyeing a necklace. Maybe a local. Her eyes were bright as she admired how the gems shone in the light and how they flattered her skin. But when she glanced at the price tag, she frowned.
Nudging, you murmur “I’ll be over there…”
You walk up to the young woman and smile.
“Hello, do you like that necklace?” you greet.
She blinks in confusion and sighs.
“Yes, I do” she says in a voice as sweet as honey. “It’s just…expensive, is all. I’ll look for another one.”
From the pocket of your pants you pull out several dollar bills and hand them to her. She is frozen looking at the numbers. It’s enough to buy at least five necklaces here.
“Not anymore…”
“Why are you doing this?” she asks.
“Let’s say…I have more than enough. Least I can do.” You answer.
Walking back, you see Paul’s eyes grow wide and then he smiles. He wraps a hand around yours as you walk out. Glancing back, you can see the girl is slack jawed. Then she went and bought the becklace with a smile as big as her face.
As soon as he got home, with only a few packages of things, Paul flung himself on the bed.
“Ooof! I’m bloody exhausted!”
You lean over, smiling. His face has gotten a little red from the sun. Your hands creep over to his shoulders.
“Let me massage you sweetheart…I don’t want my… my husband to be in pain,” you insisted.
Paul grinned larger at the use of the word.
For the rest of the night, you went over piles of photographs Paul managed to take. His love of the camera made him keep it as close as if it was his baby. You both managed to find local places and take pictures. The cheesiest pictures one could manage. Smiling faces, wide arms, and mountains and beaches and buildings too beautiful to be real.
“I’d like to keep a few…” you say.
Paul looks up at you.
“Is that…is that possible, Y/N? They look through your things, y’know…” he warned.
You shrugged, looking at one picture you took of Paul smiling, squinting into the sunlight with a castle from long ago far behind him, poking out of the green hill. Then another one where you managed to travel out and visit another real palace with elaborate floors outside and pigeons flying by.
“I can manage. I have…have places in my home only I can enter. Royalty, y’know…”
Looking back, only your closest friends were in on this. Friends you knew would not tattle. Friends who could influence any nosy servants.
He leaned over on the bed, in a white shirt and long pajama pants. Placing a hand, he traced a strand of hair.
“You might be their duchess, but you’re me girl. Always.”
The next morning, both of you were napping, naked, and smiling in post-coital bliss. Unaware that it was already noon. And there was a newspaper with your brunch.
As you groaned, opening your eyes, you heard Paul nearly spit out his tea from the tray.
“Oof, too hot for you?” you teased.
He looked at you and turned the page.
There was a small, minor article. It shouldn’t have caused much attention. But it was about your parents. It mentioned them addressing rumors that you were running away with another man and may have been spotted in Spain- or someone who looked like you. They couldn’t tell who the man was, but it was not your betrothed.
“Oh shit.”
You toss the paper onto the sheets, looking at Paul with his face, white as the sheets.
“We’ll…we’ll just have to be careful…” you suggest. Leaning forward, you cup his face and he nods.
You both had to be too careful. You went to beach. The sun was bright and you tasted the salt in the wind, but you had to look around you. Everytime there was a stranger, you felt their eyes on you. Both of you picked a time when there would be less people, but it felt there were now invisible cameras somewhere.
Both of you waded in the water and laid around in a towel underneath an umbrella for shade. But even in the most relaxing moments, you couldn’t help but worry if eyes were staring. Paul opened a picnic basket and handed you a bowl of strawberries, but you wondered if even a nice snack would somehow make it’s way to tabloids.
The next few days, you were more careful. Going to less crowded places. On your penultimate day, you ignored the paper. Paul was still asleep. You glanced for any news. Once you saw a photo of your parents worried faces. “We are concerned for our daughter…”
You tossed it into the trash bin. You would deal with it later. You wanted to enjoy each minute while you had it.
You kept trying to sneak into sites with less people, odder hours. If not, you were at each other like rabbits in your hotel room. Savoring intimacy and feeling one while you still could, or lazing about in your pajamas-ordering food and watching the sea. Talking about everything and nothing.
Paul opened his eyes, lashes fluttering. You couldn’t’ help but smile at him. His lashes were long, curved naturally without any mascara. How could one man be so beautiful?
“What…what is it?”
“Nothing hubby…” you said quietly, kissing his forehead. “Let’s just…let’s just enjoy the day.”
Spain had the loveliest sunsets. You watched from your hotel and then walked at night. The stars were out and the ocean was calming. Both of you felt a breeze. Paul handed you his jacket. Even in the dark, you could make out quiet sniffling. Clutching his hand, you turned to the ocean to look up at it’s infinity underneath a night sky. You never let his hand go the rest of that night. You wanted this pretense to last long as it could until you could no more, when the plane landed and you were back home at the palace with photos of Spain snuck into the bottom of your suitcases.
Besides, there was a wedding next week.

45 questions...now that endgame has commenced
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? Which one are they closest with?
Nope! She has no siblings and her mother’s gone up and left when she was young, so the closest she’s with is her father, whom of which she regrets not cherishing him enough before getting trapped in VR hell, so whoops! Sucks for you, Ai! (EDIT: I MISREAD THIS SLIGHTLY SO YOU GET EXTRA INFO ON AI’S THOUGHTS ABT HER DAD LOL) Speaking of mom…
What is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like?
Uhh not too well NOWADAYS, considering she left when Ai was young, but they spent time together watching TVs dramas and comedies and playing with Ai’s toys together and such, as Naoko (her mum’s name) was a stay-at-home mom. Nowadays Ai wonders how she is (in a bit of a more spiteful sense but…maybe it’s in a different sense now.) since she KNOWS her dad’s pretty lonely and a bit distraught for being left with her daughter (that resembles her a little too well, down to appearance, acrid tongue and drama love). …perhaps she’s forgotten about Ai and Yosuke by now. Speaking of THAAAT…
What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?
Well, pretty distant and a bit one-sided, unfortunately. They were like any other cute father-daughter pair up until Naoko left, then Yosuke (dad’s name) became a bit distraught with being left a single dad. (He works as a nurse at a hospital!) Still, he took care of her nonetheless–then Ai started to become distant by middle school. Her working on her drawings and getting bullied and developing a bit of a sleazy, drama-loving personality and all–it REALLY started to hit by high school. Even if Ai was raking in cash with her manga and giving a portion of it to dad to help financially, she basically kept cooped up in her room and their interactions were mere greetings. Heck, she mostly ate meals in her room! A shame, really.
Edit: Regret. She…she feels regret.
Has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know?
THIS was a toughie. Perhaps one major thing was seeing Shoko Yazawa, the girl she indirectly gossiped about being a compensated dater, commit social suicide and basically disappear from Kameoka. She just…doesn’t feel comfy thinking about how she might actually be dead and how something that might have not even been true at ALL possibly cost her her social life. She may like drama, but she feels lies makes it…complicated? I can’t find the right word. Everything’s more authentic when it’s true and real, Ai feels.
EDIT: Cody’s deletion. It gave her the feeling that they very well may just be erased off the face of the Earth without feeling anything, in the blink of an eye. Mostly because, spoiler spoiler, Ai glitched out in the hospital space just like Cody but got spawned in a different area rather than deleted. So. Yeah. Scary.
EDIT 2: I GUESS DYING AND WHAT FOLLOWED AFTERWARD WAS AN EYE OPENER
On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?
Out of game: strawberry gum/various candies, her phone, a spare pen/pencil or two just in case~! Not like she’d need to carry stuff in her pockets–she’s mostly a shut-in anyway!
In Telos Hell: Her ID, and…er, that’d…probably be it. I didn’t think this very through. In the case of what she often CARRIES (like, in her hands) it’d be snacks like pudding or candy and her sketchbook, I suppose.
Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams?
Erm…this took a while to answer since I never thought that Ai would have dreams–I lowkey imagined her to be one of those dreamless sleepers. Y’know, granted she doesn’t get much shut-eye in the first place? But I suppose her dreams often involve her being a shadow or a ghost of some sorts in a bit of a beat-up town, just watching the town go on (robberies, theft, murder, or just…regular things like a couple arguing or girls gossiping) as no one notices her.
Does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares?
This goes just as above, but I’ll list it out anyway: I feel something along the lines of all eyes and blinding lights always being on her wherever she tries to run, and all mouths (her classmates, her fans, her patrons her dad, her mom, Shoko) always speaking of her, revealing her gross nature in contrast to the mysterious but ladylike (??? I guess?) mangaka alias she pretends to be online. Maybe hands would be holding her down so she can’t run and has to face all the lights and all the people.
I figure she doesn’t have nightmares often, since, again, she doesn’t get much shuteye, but…ha
EDIT: Glitchy erasure has probably haunted her a few times nowadays.
Has your character ever fired a gun? If so, what was their first target?
Nope.
Is your character’s current socioeconomic status different than it was when they were growing up?
Pretty much! She didn’t grow up POOR but things were probably pretty tight at one point in her life, considering Yosuke soon became a single working dad in the middle of Ai’s childhood. As soon as she started raking in that Sweet Sweet Manga Cash, however, she was happy to set out a portion of her money for her dad, so they ended up okay and a little well off! (Not rich but u get what i mean, hopefully)
Does your character feel more comfortable with more clothing, or with less clothing?
More clothing–she just feels better that way.
In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been?
Hoo-wee. It’s…a liiittle hard to say.
Tora chapter 2 was a doozy, but she wasn’t as scared then as she was, say...witnessing Cody getting erased, or glitching out HERSELF way back in ch7 when she was in the hospital space. She just felt...terrified, feeling like she’d suddenly disappear without another word, AND without feeling anything.
In what situation was your character the most calm they’ve ever been?
Whenever she’s in her room, not disturbed by anyone, just browsing through social media idly with snacks on standby. Or asleep, considering … help this girl
Is your character bothered by the sight of blood? If so, in what way?
She really isn’t…at least, she thought she wasn’t. She’s gotten pretty used to the sight of blood as a kid, when she’d gotten the occasional bloody nose from bullying back in her school days, and ofc with her job revolving around illustrating violence and sometimes GORE, you get immune to it!
At least, you think you do. As quoted from what I put on that FE AU spreadsheet a longass while ago “Gore looks much…mushier than on paper.”
Ryouji’s dead corpse was a nice ‘ol REVELATION for Ai. Since the closest thing to shit like that was descriptions of shit from the hospital (thanks nurse dad) and anatomy charts and guro art she’s browsed, seeing a REAL corpse in such a situation was…a game changer.
At this point, Ai’s a bit immune to it lol. So many bodies, yanno? She’s now…scarily used to it. Of course, the nature and customization of the executions are…unnerving to her, sometimes. I’m talking to you, Ryouji, lmao (She’ll probably still be pretty unnerved if she…ever…wants to go back to drawing manga tho…I don’t think she will. She’ll take a longass break.)
Does your character remember names or faces easier?
Depends, I would think. Ingame: faces, but out of game, since she doesn’t really care for her classmates and real people and shit, she remembers names more. The internet is a far more vast place, after all.
Is your character preoccupied with money or material possession? Why or why not?
This is hard because I don’t think about this often myself
I guess she IS? She enjoys having things like snacks and desserts and tech around her, but she’s mostly just preoccupied with drama, relationships, fights and…people, I guess. I don’t have a good answer for this.
Which does your character idealize most: happiness or success?
I was about to say neither and point at “enjoyment”, but I guess…that could…sort of align with happiness? You can’t be a mangaka forever, and WHAT ELSE is she good for? Ha. She’d rather sit back and simply be able to enjoy a show rather than idealize shit like that. Life’s a show you can’t waste a minute to wake in!
…mm.
What was your character’s favorite toy as a child?
Dolls, probably. Y’know, er…the equivalent of Barbie dolls, I guess? I can’t go too into depth since I haven’t fleshed out her childhood all too much, but…dolls seem accurate for her. She’d like dressing them up, decorating the houses (if that was a thing…?) and sometimes even playing pretend with them, I’d imagine–and Naoko would honestly play along with her, I’d think!
Is your character more likely to admire wisdom, or ambition in others?
She admires the pettiness ambition of people around her, really. Just…seeing the lengths people would go for their goals, good or bad.
What is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?
Like I said, she was literally alienated at the concept of people caring about her and her wellbeing.
Said alienation, initial refusal to accept praise of her, AND general nasty/careless/joking attitude, as well as her constant self-deprecation is a pretty fuckin’ big downer in relationships. Hell, part of her attitude already drives people away, she knows–might as well show she’s self-aware of it right?
…it’s definitely cost her potential friendships. Lots of ‘em.
In what ways does your character compare themselves to others? Do they do this for the sake of self-validation, or self-criticism?
Depends. …mostly the latter though. She knows she’s a piece of shit but occasionally she sees some people and goes “ok at least I’m not them tho lol”. Sorry Senji, Ryouji, some others I probably forgot to mention here. I still love you.
If something tragic or negative happens to your character, do they believe they may have caused or deserved it, or are they quick to blame others?
Oh hell yeah she thinks she deserves it. Karma, baby! Gotta love it.
What does your character like in other people?
Pettiness, wittiness, cunning, the ability to take a joke and make a joke–people who are laidback and careless enough to not be easily brought down. ok look masashi “hee-haw” oichi is a special case here, she thinks hee-haw is annoying but ill be damned if she doesnt eventually get used to it and admires masashi’s directness
What does your character dislike in other people?
Pettiness done WRONG to look like absolute immaturity…and on that note, people acting like loud immature brats in general, people who hold huge grudges over small and/or past events, haughtiness, tryhards (ok yes she can be a tad hypocritical but she’ll swear there’s a difference), people who (in her words, probs) have “sticks up their asses”…you surely get the gist.
How quick is your character to trust someone else?
LMAO NOT QUICK @ ALL (especially in a game like this) she can drop trust pretty quickly tho ;0
…once you do end up gaining her trust, though, it’s strong with just a liiitle bit of doubt. As soon as you break it tho, her trust in you AND others plummet down the fucking toilet so lol
EDIT: ok so i’ll be honest now that it’s endgame, the reason she seems more willing to believe lies in others than she probs should is that she believes in predictability and also me myself, the mun, am Fucking Dumbass and fall for the lies myself, so if i can’t see past them even if Ai in-characterly Can, then im sorry my dudes im Fucking Dumb :’O
How quick is your character to suspect someone else? Does this change if they are close with that person?
Pretty quick, but she won’t necessarily voice it until she has a good opportunity. If they’re close to her, and she trusts them, she won’t suspect them unless shit seriously starts pointing to them, then it starts getting 👀👀👀
How does your character behave around children?
[ai voice] i think the fuck not, goodbye
She doesn’t…handle children well.
How does your character normally deal with confrontation?
haha……………..she doesn’t (usually)
She literally watches drama from afar, you think she wanna get involved in shit?
…when she does deal with it, she replies as bluntly and honestly as possible so she can get it over with. confrontation? no thanks lol
…maybe she’ll add some sass when she finds a good opportunity if she wants to make the confronter feel like a dumbass or smth, or if it starts to piss her off.
How quick or slow is your character to resort to physical violence in a confrontation?
Ai…knows that violence in a losing battle for her. She’s weak. (….listen ryouji was already down in that one trial, ok) If a punch is thrown, she’ll either dodge and run, or take it and scuttle, tbh.
What did your character dream of being or doing as a child? Did that dream come true?
She didn’t really have those types of dreams as a kid, really?? But maybe her drawings as she grew up started to make her think of being an artist. And…well, it DID come true, right? …with, y’know, the cost of tons of potential friendships. And other shit. ha
What does your character find repulsive or disgusting?
Well, ONE thing is wasted opportunity, which is why, as you saw, Ai was PISSED at Ryouji when he was the chapter 6 culprit.
…okay, that’s very exaggerated for being listed and something “repulsive” to her, but…disgusting? ye.
Describe a scenario in which your character feels most comfortable.
Same spiel as the calm one, if you scroll up: in her room back at Kameoka, no one bothering her, the sound of rain and muffled thunder rumbles outside as she scrolls through the internet, snacks at her side while feeling cozy af in warm clothing/probably a blanket over her.
Describe a scenario in which your character feels most uncomfortable.
I can list a few, actually! A certain text conversation between Andrew and Ai during Chapter 6, CHPT4 MONOTHEATER IN TORA AND CHPT5 MONOTHEATER? IN TELOS I BELIEVE? Because there was a very down, depressed vibe goin’ on–mostly the reaction of the deaths and all that, and the feeling that…everyone’s in despair. And tense. It’s infectious, unfortunately.
…and also, er, tora chpt2 trial. You Know,
EDIT: Cody’s erasure lol
In the face of criticism, is your character defensive, self-deprecating, or willing to improve?
SELF-DEPRECATION, BABY ;0
Nowadays, thanks to the magic of Character Development, she’s starting to see that she can improve. So she does the third one more, now.
Is your character more likely to keep trying a solution/method that didn’t work the first time, or immediately move on to a different solution/method?
She’s definitely the type to keep trying a certain method a few times before moving on in frustration.
How does your character behave around people they like?
Laidback, and more open, with banter all around! If you’re someone she likes who has…made an impact on her (like Holly acting like a big sis for her, thanks holly ily) then she’ll still make jokes but not be as biting! She’ll try to be more lightheartedly jokey rather than have each joke be a diss.
How does your character behave around people they dislike?
Prepare for disses, eye rolls and snappy attitudes…or, er, just straight up disrespect and igonring.
Is your character more concerned with defending their honor, or protecting their status?
Protecting their status, most likely. She…has no honor, really.
Is your character more likely to remove a problem/threat, or remove themselves from a problem/threat?
*ahem*
abscond
Has your character ever been bitten by an animal? How were they affected (or unaffected)?
Nope! Never been bitten, and she certainly doesn’t plan to!
How does your character treat people in service jobs?
General respect and decency whenever she DOES go out for, say, groceries at 7/11 or something. She’d generally like to leave asap when she goes out though, so she does sometimes ask to, like, quicken the pace. What did the service job people ever do to her, anyhow, besides like, possibly make her wait? No disses here, thank god
Does your character feel that they deserve to have what they want, whether it be material or abstract, or do they feel they must earn it first?
Ai feels she doesn’t…deserve a lot of things she has, and definitely thinks that a lot of kids in Telos don’t deserve the shit they get thrown at them either (but, yes, there are some who she thinks do get what’s coming for them, but not many), so it’d be the latter, I suppose.
Has your character ever had a parental figure who was not related to them?
Nope. Easy answer.
Has your character ever had a dependent figure who was not related to them?
…not dependent, but…there’s one person who does a pretty good job trying to be one for her. (Spoiler alert it’s Holly, god bless this water polo player I love her so much get better soon athena ur great ily)
How easy or difficult is it for your character to say “I love you?” Can they say it without meaning it?
Pretty goddamn difficult. She thinks of it as a bit of a hard thing to say herself, but agrees it’s something thrown around way too much nowadays–which is, in part, why it’s hard for her to say. (Also she’s never really gotten it from anyone except her parents ha) Ai doesn’t and wouldn’t say it in general (unless it’s joking with friends but even THEN its rare bc Got Damn can’t have too much hypocricy) since it’s a bit overused in society and seems like a throwaway term w/o meaning. When she DOES wanna say it MEANINGFULLY, she’d really want to MEAN it, which is hard with…the kind of mindset she has on the word.
What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?
She doesn’t know!
Which is exactly what scares her.
Not like she thinks about it often, though! (er…well…maybe she does now.)
Nor does she want to. :)
EDIT: this still goes unchanged but it goes to show, uh...what she might’ve thought when she was “dying” at the time.
