A thought I had:

In Beacon, the cover story was that Holland was away for a couple months doing research for Makt (while still having a nearby doorway to get back to the castle quickly).

Meaning that any assassins would take that into account, and then alter any plans when Holland was suddenly back doing his knight duties.

Meaning that those factors could be enough changes for the assassination plot to take a different form.

Isn't that interesting?
