OKAY so I saw another absolute genius set of @jerseydevious headcanons about how Percy finds out more about his weird godly side and mentioned how taking Marine Biology and Oceanography would just click with him and I practically DIED because I want to go into that field as well and now all I can think about is him being a marine bio student LIKE

it was already mentioned but yeah like Percy knows the best way to protect his literal other half and its creatures is to at least study about it. of course going through classes in general just sucks so much (mood)  and trying to go through gigantic science textbooks makes him cry BUT once he realizes he practically knows all of this stuff already he's like OH SHOOT

also lmao if he's unsure about how marine animals work he can just ASK THEM

and during lectures the professor would bring up how certain behaviors observed in marine animals can sometimes be unexplainable and percy without thinking just answers like “oh they just think it’s funny” and the whole class is like “w h a t”

in field research he wears scuba gear just so he doesn't look suspicious but then his classmates and instructor are concerned when all of them run out of air and come up to refill but Percy's still DOWN THERE

they're also like "yo why are all the organisms just circling Jackson over there this isn't normal behavior" “SIR there is a literal SHARK next to him!!!” “is...is he talking???”

and i swear one time he’s going to forget to will himself to not stay dry because of all the commotion and out of sheer panic he jumps off their boat

another time he accidentally goes super deep to the point where normal people would've started feeling some effects but Percy was just trying to chase an animal or smth and he comes up and says "hey i got the data :D" and there's a slight crack in his goggles

while looking for the proper observation site he would sometimes blurt out random directions and at first this annoys the instructor but then he realizes that the directions this weird kid is giving gets them to the perfect location for a dive and he just learns to roll with it

when taking exams while being an adhd kid i’d assume he’s pretty fidgety and does that leg bouncing thing while thinking but because he’s so nervous and sleep-deprived the exam room tends to tremor a little after every bounce and some students think they are going crazy for noticing it

to top it all off every so often he would chug an insane amount of water or even chuck salt into his mouth and he does this to help revitalize himself and help him remember things more but everyone else around him is like “what the actual hell”

and LASTLY for his thesis he’d probably propose something normally unattainable for undergrads like analyzing and recording the behavior of deep sea creatures on the ocean floor or mapping out an entire continental shelf or just SMTH absolutely insane and everyone is like “what is this kid doing” but he starts showing his adviser actual legitimate data and he literally can’t say anything

little does everyone know he carries out the experiments near his dad’s palace and sometimes even asks for some help from poseidon who thinks it’s trivial but wants to help Percy show up some mortals anyway

watch there be incredibly clear pictures of the literal deepest part of the ocean and percy accidentally also submits a selfie he took at the bottom and he just hastily explains how annabeth is really good at photoshop
