MC escapes only to find themselves in an even worse situation somewhat of their own making, only to be swept off their feet by the ML (male lead) and saved, full damsel in distress style. Dude Luffy loves Sanji so so much like WCI is the best example and like you don't even really need to see the love as romantic if that bugs you but dudes. The first words out of the Luffys Shadow Possessed Oars was yelling for Sanji. He just loves Sanji so much and Sanji loves him too

The WCI arc in itself is mega SanLu propaganda. Luffy invaded an emperor’s territory, completely crashed a wedding, went up against Sanji’s evil science family, and got nearly beat to death by Sanji himself all in order to get Sanji back. No matter what Sanji cooks, Luffy always likes it and is proud to have him in his crew. Sanji is also one of Luffy’s “wings”, as stated by Robin! They’re both just so sweet and clearly care very deeply about each other.

The first characters in the series who ever met and the first characters we as an audience met. Luffy is the whole reason why Koby is the character he is now and was the first to experience the “Luffy Effect”. Luffy is happy whenever he hears about Koby’s accomplishments and fully believes in his dreams even when Koby is a marine. Koby holds a very obvious bias towards Luffy (even if he is a pirate) and is the reason he learned to keep an open mind about pirates and the navy and what the meaning of Justice is. Koby’s admiration and flustered nature towards Luffy can definitely be interpreted as a crush. Koby is very ride or die for Luffy even in the face of people drastically more powerful than him (Akainu).

Witch and Phantom

Believe it or not, I never forgot about Fantasy Seal-- the pretty art just ended up overwhelming me, and I ran out of time for it. ^^; I’ve gotten better at drawing in general lately, though, so I’d like to give it another go.

-Decided to make Marisa’s school uniform very Western-looking, befitting her character concept. I think the realistically-long skirt adds a touch of unique style~

-Cuddling Laika~ (Rinnosuke’s dog, if you remember). This version is a flesh and blood dog, who just happens to be a dyad with the ghost of her namesake. I’mma be honest: I think canon (?) Laika is a much more creative idea, being a possessed robot toy from the 2000’s (i.e. two forgotten entities for the price of one)...but I don’t think that would fit with the grounded feel of this AU. In this context, I prefer the image of Rin walking around town with his youkai-detecting animal guide.

-In contrast to the canon, this version of Alice is very calm and sweet and carefree. ^^ She is the gentle foil to Marisa’s more rambunctious energy, usually either joining her in troublemaking or half-trying to stop her. ...I've really fallen in love with her design ❤

-Unlike the other protagonists, Marisa does not summon phantom weapons to fight with– I think it’s more in line with her character to be a self-made mage. ^^ She usually “borrows” supplies from Kourindou (where she works part time) and mixes them together into magic tools– her broom is her main project, which she continually rebuilds and upgrades over the course of the story. I’ll talk about the mini-Hakkero a little later~ Anyway, the first magic item she acquires is her signature hat…which houses an evil spirit that immediately takes control of her. ^^; The resulting incident prompts Reimu’s first foray as an incident resolver, and allows the two protagonist groups to finally meet. Afterwards, despite objections from basically everyone, Marisa decides to keep the hat, since the spirit “gives good advice”.

i heavily associate Primus with Turbo in general because of the heavy bass sounding kind of like a motor and the high energy of the songs being twisted into something more deviant because of how heavy and dark the instruments are. its twisted and sad and angry all at once which i think is exactly how Turbo would mourn. blaming the "ice cube" for slipping away from HIM instead of the other way around, being that he's the one who drove it all away, growing more and more bitter........acidic even

"Nothing ever lasts forever," seems like a mindset he'd carry for most of his life, being why hes so intensely adamant on keeping everything to himself to preserve it for as long as he can. his possessive nature is a cover-up for his fear of it all collapsing on him and leaving him with nothing. he keeps everything close and everyone far 😢...

this entire song is about this asshole who brags about himself so incessantly to such a degree that it makes him look ridiculous. as intelligent as he is, he is not as much of an admirable figure as he tries to make himself seem, which is made horrendously clear.

there are contradictory lyrics here and there that demonstrate hypocrisy and outright lying, stating things like "I am so eloquent! Perfection is my middle name, and whatever rhymes with eloquent..." when the word eloquent is defined by having a high level of literacy, and "they call me Mr. Knowitall" versus "I MUST be Mr. Knowitall." the way he refers to himself changes throughout the song

Assigning Final Fantasy summons to GX characters because why not?

With specifications on which version of the summons I've assigned them, only some genuine explanations of my thought process, and I will take no criticisms 😌

In my mind how this works is that the summons function like they do in 13 at least at least to a certain point. Like how they obtain their summon at some point throughout whatever story is being told here, or maybe some of them have obtained them already, and they're summoned via crystals in the heat of battle when needed. So in my mind as I'm picturing all of this, I'm picturing the 13 summoning technique to an extent.

Alright, let's get into it!

Jaden - Anima (FFX)

If you know the Anima lore you know this is actually so big brain

Yubel -> Anima

Syrus - Valefor (FFX)

I like the idea of Sy and Zane having a similar type of summon (Zane gets Bahamut, spoilers) with them both being creatures that fly, a dragon and a big bird. But Sy's is weaker in power and has a gentler spirit, but that spirit is strong. Very thematically accurate for them.

He could also have Doomtrain to sync up with his deck archetype I think that would be funny

But he gets Valefor because I have a lot of sentimental value towards her and she's one of my favorite summons and he's my favorite and I said so 😌

Chazz - Ixion (FFX)

My favorite lightning summon

Thunder boy and his lightning horsie ⚡

I would honestly just love to see it

Alexis - Shiva (FFX version cuz she's my fav summon period)

Decks are being taken into account and she plays an ice deck in the manga and while she's in the society of light in season 2 🧊

I don't have a crazy in depth explanation for this I just feel it in my soul. I've always said she would be a Shiva girl like me even without her and Atty both having an ice elemental association betwixt all the GX media.

Hassleberry - Titan (FFXV)

Titan is a big strong man as is our boy

Also he's Earth element and if Hassleberry had an element he would be Earth I feel it in my non-dinosaur bones.

Chumley - Choco/Mog (FFVII)

I'll be so for real I had such a hard time figuring out Chumley like from the summons I had left to choose from cuz I added Blair and Chumley to the list last, I couldn't find one I thought fit super great

But as I was going over the summons lists again I pictured these guys appearing alongside Chum and I just smiled. It just made me smile and so does he.

Sometimes it's just that simple.

But I did also consider Fenrir as an option as well.

Blair - Siren (FFVIII)

Siren specializes in status ailments (silence specifically) and you could argue her love deck reolves around a status ailment, namely Maiden In Love causing male monsters to fall in love with her, which actually is sort of a thing in some FFs through the Lamia enemy but shhhh

8's Siren can also heal status ailments so that gives Blair more abilities available to her to support the party

Valefor would've been another choice for her I just feel the vibe there but I want Sy to have her so 😌

Garuda could be another decent potential choice for her as more of a combative summon than a support summon, I feel that vibe too.

But I dunno I was just drawn to Siren for her so there you go.

Zane - Bahamut (FFVII Remake or FFXIII/XIII-2)

Dragon

Bahamut is typically among the most powerful of all the summons if not the most powerful depending on the game.

I'm wrestling between 7R and 13, 7R has almost some cybernetic action going on that gives me Cyber End energy while maintaining the classic dragon design, and 13 has Chaos Bahamut in 13-2 so he could have Bahamut then it could morph into Chaos Bahamut once he enters the Edgelord Supreme era to facilitate the shift from Cyber End to Cyber Dark if you follow my brain's logic

Aster - Phoenix (FFXVI)

......I-I mean..... Phoenix... Aster.... Aster Phoenix..... 😅

The implications of of the idea of Shirley sacrificing herself for Jim and becoming the summon makes me upset tho so we can just delete any timeline where that happens 😁

Crowler - Alexander (FFVIII or FFXIII)

8 is a very good classic Alexander, just a great summon, and 13's I have a lot of sentimental value for but also him being a guy that turns into a defensive wall in Gestalt mode and with the way Crowler will put himself between harm and the kids at times.... thematically accurate Alexander?

Crowler wouldn't be beating the Dad allegations any time soon with that version on his side

7 Rebirth's Alexander is a close 3rd choice I think too I really like that design

With Alexander I was trying to think about practicality cuz they're all so massive and occasionally story relevant so he's not always a readily available summon so I sadly ruled out 9 and Type-0 as much as I really wanted him to have either of those too

Debated switching Phoenix from Aster to Banner and finding another one for Aster but clearly I did not lol

Also considered Phantom from 6 because it's just a ghost and uh.... Ghost Banner. But Chaos is cooler.

Adrian - Zalera (FFXII)

I was gonna give him Odin because of the insta kill move and how he had Exodia which is an automatic win but then I was looking at the summons list and was looking through the 12 Espers and listen.

Zalera is an Esper of death who clutches a woman in his arms and uses her wails to inflict death.

This really reminds me of Echo clutched in Exodia's hand screaming as she's being murdered by Adrian in the interest of obtaining Exodia.

Plus we had no 12 representation I chose Banner's after this and as 12 is my second favorite ff behind 10/10-2 that is criminal.

Evil fic idea: So, we all know that (at least in House's mind) Amber was a proxy since Wilson "couldn't" date House. So how about this: After Amber's death (instead of the broken off contact here) he starts taking House places that would usually be considered date places and do date activities etc and at first he thinks Wilson is courting him but eventually he realises: Wilson is now using House as a proxy for Amber since he can't go on dates with her anymore. No idea what happens from there on tbh

loving this blog. recently finished the manga and losing my mind over the universal stance on Griffith. went into it knowing he was intensely hated but it didn't come to me. also as a straight person, I am baffled by people's repulsion of Griffith having feelings for Guts, thought it was painfully obvious. what do you think are the reasons for this besides homophobia?

Yeah, the fandom is a big disappointment in some ways lol. Glad you appreciate Griffith despite the preconceived notions the fandom tends to give you!

Honestly I think the main reason is homophobia lol, but not necessarily individual homophobia in every case? Just like, the way the majority of straight people have blinders on when it comes to gay readings of fiction because of heteronormativity. Though when the response to people pointing out the gay subtext is steadfast denial rather than trying to see things from another perspective, that's still pretty homophobic.

I can't even cite any of the adaptations lol, because both the anime and ovas emphasize Griffith's feelings for Guts.

I guess there's also black and white thinking, where Griffith's love for Guts is a humanizing trait that makes him more sympathetic and nuanced, and a lot of fans are seemingly repulsed by the idea of Griffith having character traits that aren't 'evil and conniving' lol, so they make up a version of the story where he's pure evil and has no positive emotions and his love for Guts is really just evil possessiveness.

But yeah, idk. The Berserk fandom often baffles me. Thanks for the ask though! Hope you enjoyed the manga!

What's Kamen rider about?

Great question without an easy answer!

I'll do my best to try and explain it since I'm just starting to know what Kamen Rider is too XD

So, the best way I know to exemplify to someone is "like power rangers but with, most seasons, 2 heroes instead of a big team" and also more serious yet without losing the silly factor.

Each season has it's own cast, story, rules of the world, and villain, so Kamen Rider Den-o, doesn't work by the same rules as Kamen Rider Wizard, even if they are in the same franchise, think Final Fantasy, were each new FF has it's own world instead of a continuos long plot.

So you can jump into any interation of Kamen Rider and not be lost, the question is if you'd like this version and keep going.

My first Rider is Den-o, and I fell in love with the silliness AND the characters, bc that story has a weak villain, good mystery, but mostly focused on characters, in specific the Taros with our main boy Ryotaro and the mystery of Ryo's older sister' lost memories.

Now I'm watching Wizard, and it is a completely diferent plot, I heard it has a mid story but I'm very interested until now so I'll see it for myself, were our protagonist is a survivor of some kind of ritual to create phantoms(for best understanding think evil monsters) and gained the power to become a wizard through magic rings, what's keeping me interested is how i'm slowly realizing Haruto(protag) isn't helping people and keeping them from dieing bc he's kind, but bc of his survivors guilt, and I want to see how this will change bc it will change for that I'm sure Shunpei(his new friend and ray of sunshine) will change him I bet.

The last post I made was about Rider Gavv, the new Rider released this week! And I'm intrigued already by the world it's building and it's protagonist, for the first episode(I'm patiently waiting for our fan-translators to get to the second episode and for the show runners to release the third in japan next week i think?) We know that our protagonist, Shoma, is at the very least a hybrid of a monster, the Granute, or is a complete one, or was experimented, anyways he has a weird mouth in his stomach but it is diferent than the other Granutes , he escapes his dimension and turns up here, a little boy saves him, feeds him, and when a Granute tries to EAT THE LITTLE BOY ALIVE-, he jumps in, gets beaten up over and over, refuses to keep down, learns and finaly transforms in Rider Gavv.

At the end of the day it is a children's media, so it is wacky and silly, but the topics they revolve around are what keeps me interested, it has heart.

See, in Den-o Ryo is possessed by an Imagin, the monsters of this universe, creatures that came from the future to grant wishes for people in the present, so they can go for the past that those wishes originated from and destroy the curent timeline.

The theme in this Rider is memories, fighting for the future even if it doesn't looks bright for you, accepting change, loss, friendship and becoming stronger and bolder with the right incentive. And the presentation of those themes are really well done for me.

You see there's this character, Sakurai Yuuto, our secondary Rider, he is two characters, we got Sakurai the older man who's integral to the plot, who mysteriously disappeared and the only person who remembers him is our protagonist, and Yuuto, a new Rider a younger man, hot headed, grumpy, but with a heart of gold, the younger version of Sakurai who can transform, but each time he does the memories of himself are erased from people who knew him, and he has to cope with the fact that the future he'll have is this, no-one to remember him, and yet he still fights

And all of that is played straight, there is no punch line, these characters will still be goofy and then have emotional break downs and deep conversations that almost say nothing but conveis everything to move you to tears.

To choose your first Rider can be anything that catches your interest first, be it:

In Wizard there's this scene between our protagonist and the a girl he is friends with, I don't know if it's a sister, a protégé, or just the person he saved first, but. I know that she was part of the same ritual that tried to transform him, she, unlike him, succumbed to the despair and "died", but he saved her and now she's alive only bc she has to consume his magic to keep on living.

She's sat in a lake, water almost up to her torso, and she's saing how she's a monster and how can she move on, and Haruto, instead of calling for her to get out, he moves in, he sits with her, he listens and promises to keep being her hope, and this whole scene is such a metaphor for grief, loss, depression etc, that it made me tear up, it's really simple but effective.

the suit design(what made me chose Wizard as my second season),

a silly gif(one gif of Momotarous that circle around 2022/2023 made me curious to start),

the main esthetic,

the story summary, etc.

I hope this explains it well enough and if you got curious I suggest starting with Gavv and waiting for the new episodes with the fandom or Den-o bc it was my first so... it would be the first that I recomend to people, or just search for a summary for the other and their themes, finishing Wizard I'm between starting OOO, Kiva, W or Ghost. All bc of suit design, so I have no idea what they are about XD

What I know is that Kamen Rider is a younger franchise than Ultraman, and older than Super Sentai (The serie that Power Rangers is based off) all of those are Tokusatsu(live action films/shows with heavy use of practical effects and special effects).

The older seasons are more serious, while the newer one are more colorfull and silly -Rider Gavv literaly gains his power from eating candy man XD- there's always a group of monsters to fight against, the villains are kinda mid but the heroes and deuteragonists are really good, with diferent esthetics and lore each season, many seasons don't have official translations -Den-o is one of those- but the fan-translations are around and done with good faith and plenty of bromance.

Heyyyyy so you know how in modern Disney channel movies (Im specifically talking about the Zombies and Descendants franchises as those are movies ive seen but I do think some of these traits are in other disney channel movies like Highschool Musical) the bad guys are always loud flamboyant theater kids? And how the good guys are always good morally upstanding people who have either were raised in the American Dream(tm) (nuclear family, upper middle class, perfect grades everything's going great) or live in a poorer situation but are still good people who will eventually get the picture perfect American Dream(tm)?

Yeahhh I hate to say it but that's kinda based off the formula of classic (when i say classic i mean Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. Not Renaissance era) Disney Princess movies where you have the same villain and hero formula.

Now, why am I treating any of this as a bad thing? Well, that was probably based on how villains were deliberately given queer traits to seem more villainous. You see, back in when Snow White and other classics were being worked on there were codes in place to ban queerness from being shown on film because queer people are the devil and they're gonna corrupt you and your kids if you don't watch out! Or some other stupid homophobic shit like that. So, it being the 30s, naturally, people aren't too keen on the concept of gay people. So, what's an easy way to get people to immediately let your audience know just from looking at them that your villains are evil? Give them stereotypical queer traits, of course!

And it's the exact opposite with Disney heroes! Have princesses be traditionally feminine whatever that time periods version of being a 'good woman' is. Could range from being good at cleaning and never going against authority, and even if she eventually does, make it be in the nicest way possible. Or, have her be a strong and independent woman who doesn't need a man. But, you usually focus on the woman because she's the driving force who goes through all the terrible things, and the men shouldn't be all too present because she either doesn't need a knight in shining armour or he's only there to provide the American Dream Happily Ever After.

Another thing we see in classic is the movie must always return the status quo. We can change some things about the poor area but not change it too much. I.e. we can get rid of the border but not actually do anything to combat classism or help the poor people not be poor. If the our main character is rich they stay in on their side of the border in their rich area. If the main character is poor they get to be honorary rich person but they'll have a plot line where they're not like the other girls and are having a really hard time being rich. This will conclude with them saying something about how, "They're not rich they'll poor at heart!" Which means they'll gonna be rich and wear black and be a bit quirky.

So, in classic movies the heros have a very conservative/heteronormative view of the world and way of life. While the villians possess queer traits and our the ones trying to make any changes to the system. But the thing is, NOTHING has actually changed in these modern Disney channel movies! They still use the same formula! The only difference now is that they get to queer bait audiences now!

How would you feel about a book where there are several characters, many of whom are beloved by the audience, but the only Greek character has the as main characteristics being an abuser and being generally hated by the fandom? The exotic Greek whose function is to bring suffering to the protagonist, who will be consoled by an exemplary non-Greek? Because that is exactly what you're doing. It's truly an honor that you decided that the character who is hated by everyone is the one chosen to be blessed with being allowed to be Black while in Ancient Greece. Calypso being a goddess and being beautiful or some shit like that doesn't change how interesting it really is how the hated one is the only one acceptable to be Black. You'll probably argue about her location, which doesn't change shit because this isn't about the logic of her being Black. It's about the choice of her, the most hated, being the only Black person in the myth of the Odyssey in your interpretation. Odysseus being abused by the exotic and possessive Black woman and then being comforted by his loved and understanding white wife…is definitely a choice, especially since at least there are other varied white characters in the context while the only Black example is this one. At this point, it was better to simply keep Calypso white as well, it's not like it would be wrong since the ancient Greeks didn't imagine her as Black the way they did with characters like Memnon. Calypso wasn't portrayed as Black in antiquity, so this is purely a modern choice.

I think you are being confused here, Anon. For starters who told you that Greeks were portrayed positively in media? Arguably there was from time to time a greek character in series or movies and they were portrayed as loud, rude, evil, greedy and violent. They didn't even do them the decency to show them as "exotic".

If they were "exotic" and smooth villains I would be ecstatic. In fact one of my favorite chacters in cartoon history is David Xanathos in Disney Gargoyles, a villain-antagonist, American of greek descend who is a manipulative bastard who plays others like the feedle. That version of his as a villain was amazing! And it was one of the few times that a greek villain was not portrayed as cartoonishly evil or rude or loud.

To give you an example at a personal favorite TV series of mine "Agatha Christie's Poirot" starring David Suchet, we have at least 3 greek token characters and all three are depicted negatively. In the episode "Hickory Dickory Docks" the main antagonist is the hostel owner Christina Nicoletis who is an alcoholic unpleasant woman who is also greedy and scared and involved in illegal diamond trades. The same unpleasant is her accomplish who is also, surprise surprse Greek. Even Miss Lemon, a character known for being reasonable and open-minded says "Oh that explains it" when her relative says that Nicoletis is Greek. Like yeah of course she is unpleasant! She is Greek!

In the episode "The Dump Witness" one of the main antagonists is a doctor named Jacob Tanios. For most part of the movie there is nothing pleasant about it. He is a bitter loner, rude, insensitive, acting violent and there was even a hint that he beats his children (which was never disputed in the movie). Despite the fact that he was proven not to be the murderer in the movie, he was still never potrayed as pleasant.

In the episode "Orient Express" the doctor who is also one of the murderers and arguably the most stupid fellow in the episode was Greek.

In the classic 1980s series Adventures of Sherlock Holmes in the episode "The Greek Interpreter" even if I was ecstatic to see a greek guy playing the actual greek in the series, the sister of the victim was a cold, calculating woman who sold her own brother to the guy she wanted to marry (she claims that she didn't know he was being tortured, making her dump too).

The satyric movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" is a pure satire on greeks living abroad, depicting them as loud or rude or snobbish for the sakes of the jokes. There is even a movie, which I forget, where a greek woman is seen trying to bury puppies and she is depicted almost like a witch at that point, yelling at the kid for taking the puppies. The mother of the kid even told him "do not interfere with the local customs" as if killing puppies is like something all Greeks do.

Arguably Greeks were always talked down by many parts of media books or series. There are very few examples in which Greeks when associated with others were depicted positively and even in the parts that depict them in mythological contexts they either are not portrayed according to their stories or overly exaggerated to the American ideals that had nothing to do with the actual culture. Allow me then to know exactly how it feels like.

I believe you are confusing what you wanna read with what I am writing. I am not creating my stories or characters to fill a quota or to create "representation" or anything. I am trying to portray the characters as accurately as possible to their areas of descent, their ethnicities and their stories. At the same time I look at other media portrayals and compare the possibilities and their areas of descent. I create Calypso for the sole reason I mention to my notes;

I loved her interpretation by Vanessa Williams, the area she lives in sometimes is interpreted as North Africa (most frequently Tynisia) or Malta. Looking at the geography and the area she was living I just think it fits to create the interpretation the way I did.

If I wanted to create a "token evil black" character as you now complaint I would do someone like Polyphemus. Quite frankly I could write Polyphemus as such and ancient greeks also interpreted the other antagonistic characters as the several non-greek tribes and nations they fought against during their colonies picturing them as mythical creatures who antaginize their heroes. I do not because it doesn't fit georaphically nor the interpretation fits.

Yes it is a modern interpretation to make Calypso dark-skinned (which I am actually surprised of course that all the time there is only one portion of people being constantly talked like that with it) but again it is an interpretation based on where Ogygia is. It is also a modern interpretation to make Andromeda ethnically Ethiopian compared to other figures and people are ecstatic about it and understandably so that is from that perspective

If Calypso is your most hated character then it is up to you. I am not sure if you read my stories but I do try to portray her as realistically as possible. Again if I wanted to create a token evil character I could write her like a Karen who wants nothing else but sex and abuses Odysseus. In the story she clearly has more to say than that which is what I create. She truly loves him, takes care of him and quite frankly culturally speaking she might as well asume that she is not doing something bad. Affairs men had were generally tolerated in antiquity so, culturally speaking, Odysseus sleeping with her forcefully and be ashamed of it was an exception not the rule given how many greek mythology characters had affairs. Even Menelaus produces some children with some slave women, which are mentioned in mythology. Odysseus's utter refusal seems to be one of the exceptions (thus later sources interpreting their affair as "willing")

I am not creating characters to fill a quota or to please any part of "representation". I am creating characters based on their stories and their potential ethnicities. Likewise the Lotus Eaters are also nations of Libiya or Tynisia according to interpretations. It is just that I never wrote something about them yet.

Arguably, my dear Anon, is better for you not to look at it all through the lenses of color. Just because one antagonist is dark skinned doesn't mean i see them as antagonist because they have dark skin. She just happens to be an antagonist that fits the interpretation of having dark skin that can be backed by the data and location.

I have said none of what you wrire. If you want to interpret my stories as such is up to you. I have said none of that though. Again if I wanted to create a token evil character I would have. If you want to interpret my stories through the lenses of color is up to you.

I do not create the stories to pass the message of "white vs black". You can imagine Calypso blonde with blue eyes for all I care. It is the same. Her skintone was brought up in my stories solely for interpretation purposes. Change it and you still have the story.

So I am sorry, Anon, my stories are not for the reasons you wanna read. If such thing makes you feel this way honestly I am sorry but that is not the purpose of my writing at all.

Calypso is not that much different than other goddesses like Aphrodite for instance who keeps Adonis in a box so no one will steal him from her or Eos who wants her man to remain immortal even if he was growing old by every day, or Selene who made her beloved sleep for all eternity solely so that she wouldn't say goodbye. Gods and goddesses often act selfishly in mythology because of their power and long life.

If this offends you I am sorry but my purpose is not to create token characters is to interpret the myths according to the locations they take place, the character's bloodline and their descent.

I have also loved the modern interpretation of Andromeda being depicted as ethnically Ethiopian as opposed to her classical appearance but that doesn't matter to you guys. I suspect at this point "damned if you do damned if you don't". Anyways like I said I interpret the characters. I do not randomly race-swap any character from any side. I interpret their descent or locations and see what interpretation fits and what doesn't

Quite frankly my stories with Calypso are my favorites because I think Calypso has a very complicated psyche that we need to analyze and think about. It is exactly because she is hated by a large number of people that makes me want to explore her similarly to how I am fascinated by figures like Agamemnon and Clytemnestra. What makes them tick? What drives their motivations? That is my main purpose with them.

I don't think anyone is gonna bother denying the fact that WCI is literally just the plot of an otome isekai shoujo manga/manhwa. MC (main character) is treated like trash by family except for the 1 dead mom and 1 nice sympathetic supporter that can't do much of anything to help. MC escapes only to find themselves in an even worse situation somewhat of their own making, only to be swept off their feet by the ML (male lead) and saved, full damsel in distress style. Dramatic love confessions, crying in the rain, betrayal from an arranged marriage, it has it all.

Dude Luffy loves Sanji so so much like WCI is the best example and like you don't even really need to see the love as romantic if that bugs you but dudes. The first words out of the Luffys Shadow Possessed Oars was yelling for Sanji. He just loves Sanji so much and Sanji loves him too

The WCI arc in itself is mega SanLu propaganda. Luffy invaded an emperor’s territory, completely crashed a wedding, went up against Sanji’s evil science family, and got nearly beat to death by Sanji himself all in order to get Sanji back. Sanji offered his life to Kuma at thriller bark so Kuma wouldn’t kill Luffy. He pushed himself for 2 years all in order to get stronger FOR Luffy. Sanji feels sorry when he isn’t useful, the whole reason why he used the raid suit those few times was because he was thinking about getting stronger for Luffy, but realized that he didn’t want to become an emotionless monster like his family. Sanji broke down in tears at WCI when he tried to get Luffy to go away by fighting him. And then broke down in tears again when he ran back to Luffy and told him he wanted to go back home to the Sunny. No matter what Sanji cooks, Luffy always likes it and is proud to have him in his crew. Sanji is also one of Luffy’s “wings”, as stated by Robin! They’re both just so sweet and clearly care very deeply about each other.

ENIX, he/him - he's actually one of my older ocs, i created him way back in 2017 when i was like 11 😭 fun fact! his original name was vixen but due to the definition of the word bugging me i recently changed his name to enix :3 another fact but kind of an embarrassing one - he used to have DID, and my 11 year old ass played RIGHT into the "evil alter" trope, so yeahhhh... the only good thing to come out of that was that the "evil alter" eventually became a wholly separate blorbo, named feliks! who we will get into now B)

FELIKS, he/him - my fucking sweet baby. my angel. he has gone through so many transformations it's hilarious

here he is in his "evil alter" days. already got the black eye to signify his "evilness". though i don't think it took very long for me to decide that he was actually the host of the body, not enix. in any case his usual day-to-day activities included pissing everyone around him off and trying some evil schemes every now and then

in like 2018 i got REALLY into this visual novel called "the arcana" and feliks was the ex best friend of the MC my friend cooked up for our version of the story. i didn't want him to be a cyclops for this iteration because i thought it didn't fit the theme, so he had to get a human design. he didn't have DID in this version, but he did have an identical twin brother, named vance. in this story feliks killed vance and became the boyfriend of the villain of the story, also becoming one of the villains in the process. his ex best friend ellis ended up defeating him and he got hanged with his boyfriend for their crimes

now here's where the story gets really juicy. feliks reincarnated in the modern world, and i think i ditched him having DID and instead the "alters" turned out to be the fragmented parts of feliks' dead brother's personality. vance had basically come back to haunt him in a form that was kind of comparable to alters, but also not really

the main arcana characters alongside ellis also reincarnated and ended up finding feliks (who was still evil btw). they were kind of like a friend group for a while until shit hit the fan when everyone found out that feliks killed his brother way back in their past life (they had no idea up until now). ellis became incredibly angry with him and him being a magician turned feliks into water and put him in a vase so he wouldn't be able to hurt anyone ever again

before this happened though i think ellis and his also magician boyfriend were able to piece vance back together and give him a body, so he was reincarnated too. after receiving a second chance at life, vance got himself a boyfriend, and even got married with him. the happiness didn't last for long though when feliks was able to sneak himself in his water form into vance's husband's water bottle. the husband drunk the water and ended up possessed by feliks 🙃 feliks killed vance AGAIN, was able to return to his own body by also killing vance's husband, annnnddd... then ellis caught up to him and beheaded him with his scythe. (god i still love this story)

after death feliks became a demon in hell, and that's basically where his story ends. idk i must've gotten another interest at this point because i didn't get any further with the story

in 2020 i decided to revamp him AGAIN, this time making my own fantasy universe for him. i got a couple of my friends involved with it too (this was basically a species i made specifically for that thing and my friends made ocs of that species). the story for it was really juicy too but im not gonna be telling about it cus it's almost identical to my current project with him and i might wanna make it into a real thing one day so.. SPEAKING OF WHICH

anyway. yeah, there isn't much i can tell about the story, but i can tell you about how SHIT it is trying to come up with fantasy clothing. i am no fashion designer, not by a longshot, so my boy has his tits out 24/7 because i can't think of anything he could wear (and also i just love seeing him bare chested ❤️). i kinda don't even know where to start with the clothes cus i don't want them to be the generic european medieval stuff you see in fantasy CONSTANTLY and i am awfully lazy at researching anything that isn't my number 1 interest so. yah. to combat not being able to draw him with a canon design, i made a domestic modern au 🫶

Otherwise, I'm going to write these answers out as the parts of the story these questions delve into is being currently reworked and some of the answers are kinda up in the air / half canon as of right now. This will probably be a longish answer so I'll put a quick answer up here, and a "read more" underneath that with my ramblings. Quick answers: Was he born mute or did he lose his voice? - He was born mute. Does he have a nemesis? - Yes and no... I've cycled through a few characters but the main one now, without spoiling much, is named F.E.L.I.X.. But I've been working on a couple others who could possibly take over as his main nemesis.

So like I said the answer to at least his nemesis part is kind of up the in air atm. I also wanted to expand a little on the mute aspect~

Flint is primarily mute because I tend to view this world in the terms of a video game, in which of course the player would play as the Det. [and as Cy actually who hasn't appeared in the comics yet] and like a lot of video games I always imagined him as being a "silent protag" despite still communicating with the other characters. Like Link in the new BOTW/TOTK games.

The second reason behind it was I just couldn't imagine him with a voice?? No matter how hard I tried, it just felt. Wrong for his character if that makes sense? So I figured "hey why not just give him sign language! How often do you see a deaf or mute main character anyway?" I've started to see more ASL used in shows - most recently in Only Murders in the Building which I LOVE [both the shows and the inclusion/importance of the deaf character in the story] and I thought it would make him a more interesting main character tbh. I also really really REALLY want to learn ASL, as my first grade teacher taught us a bunch when I was a kid but I've sadly forgotten just about all of it as she was just teaching us for fun. It had nothing to do with the class lol.

As for Flint's nemesis[es]! He currently has at least two, one of which is still so under-construction they don't even have a name yet or a design hahahaha.

Originally his nemesis was supposed to be Prof. Specter, aka this guy, whose a literal shadow man. [Cuz. Yah know. Shadow vs Light/Flames?] He was supposed to be almost the Dr. Claw to Flint's Inspector Gadget, but I just never went anywhere with him?? I couldn't really think up anything good tbh, and I felt like Flint easily overpowered him. I also couldn't think up any good reasons for him to BE so evil/want to attack the town etc. So he just became a smaller villain, who currently works under the main big bad. I am a MASSIVE sucker for "opposite" characters - the "good" version vs the "evil" version basically, and I have been actively trying to utilize that in a story of mine FOR YEARS. Think like, Darkwing Duck vs Nega Duck. This shit is my JAM.

For the first nemesis, his name is F.E.L.I.X. [Force Entity Learning Integrating and eXterminating] Flint, and he's a sort of "evil" version of Flint. [These are all cheebs of the various forms Felix currently takes in story]

The littlest dude is ACTUALLY Felix, [he starts off by possessing a flash drive and transforming it] and the rest are just later forms he takes throughout the story. Originally he was just some weird little alien computer virus that landed on earth, a la Invader Zim style, here to prepare Earth for conquer by his Mother Program, which is still more or less the case? The reasoning behind him being in Neo Oldesville and him eventually taking on Flint's appearance have changed a lot though.

The main reason I hesitate to call him a nemesis atm is because he was originally just more of a comedic, but still kinda dangerous, character and Felix Flint was originally going to be a sort of split in Felix's personality/code that took life on it's own, separate from Felix, warped by the internet, others personalities, and probably some other villain's code. He was just gonna go kinda crazy as his coding was rewritten too many times and start attacking... but that idea has been scrapped due to the rewrites.

He was also smart, but not in the same ways the Detective is, so they weren't really butting heads like Sherlock/Moriarty do wherein Felix would be besting Flint at every turn or something like that. Instead Flint actually bested Felix pretty easily originally. Felix Flint was basically my solution to fix that major leveling scale issue lol.

The other character, the unnamed one, is a Mad Scientist/Cult leader, whose become basically the 'secret' big bad of what I would call the first season of the story. Idk maybe longer than that? I haven't decided on how long I want this story to be tbh. I'm still working on the character and their storyline and how it intersects with both Flint's and Cy's, (whose the deuteragonist to this story)... but the most I do know/will reveal here is that this Mad Scientist is the leader of a cult that worshiped two aliens that used to exist on planet who promised to help the humanoids [as people are generally referred to here] "ascend to a higher life form" but were later stopped and destroyed by a group of super-hero like super spy sisters who learned that the aliens were in fact extremely hostile and their idea of "ascending to a higher plan" was just assimilating all of this worlds knowledge/tech and then selling off its inhabitants as slaves. I haven't decided if the rest of the world knows this fact, or if the alien characters are considered martyrs or something yet... or even if the rest of the world knew they WERE aliens. Just that they're eventually defeated by these legendary super-spies, and that a small cult remained behind after everyone else moved on from their teachings.

The leader of this new cult basically wants to bring those aliens back - specifically by summoning one of their kin to the world to help fully restore one of the deceased aliens back to life, but what he summons is Felix instead, as the race of aliens the cult worshiped had all been destroyed and absorbed by Felix's Mother Program years ago. Irony at its finest lol.

This new mad scientist/cult leader character is supposed to have very deep ties with Cy, who in turn has pretty deep ties to Flint, and I've been planning on possibly making him a sort of Moriarty to Flint, but I'm still ironing out details.

One reason I haven't quite finished this all yet is because while I am planning on using some religious ideology [is that the right word here? or would mimicry be better] in the cult, I don't necessarily want to make it a "RAWR RAWR RELIGION IS EVIL RAAAWR" kind of situation, since it's specifically that CULTS are evil. I myself was born and raised without religion in my life outside of just being in America, so while I don't believe in any religion at all, I also don't want to be cruel to anyone who does. I do, however, know that a lot of cults use Christianity as a guise to trick their followers into controlling them though.

Mostly I just really want the two aliens from the original cult to look semi like a devil and an angel cuz I thought it'd be hilarious if they were basically the "angel and devil on your shoulders" lmao.

If anyone wants to know more I'm happy to explain even more in detail. I don't care about spoiling things haha I'm not planning on creating a huge comic or anything anytime soon - I mean I would love to turn this series into a game or something in the future but for now I'm just having fun I LOVE talking about my characters/stories.

How did you feel about Li Susu's character arc by the end of Till the End of the Moon?

I had a few critiques of it.

I think it was generally good through her first 'death'. My main issue with it, is that I wish the show, once they reach the Jing kingdom, got in her head more. I think that a lot of people were harsh on her because TTJ is such a meow meow (which he is), and because the show did not delve into her own personal trauma enough.

She lost everything to the Devil God. The whole world was about to be destroyed at the time she left. He would have succeeded in this, because there were no gods left and the last lines of defense had just been obliterated.

As viewers, of course we sympathize with TTJ. And so does she. And she does get to a point where she says "I am going to try to save him. I am going to tell him the truth. I want to stay by his side.' She was going to bet on him and the goodness that she thought he possessed.

But this is quickly sabotaged by Bingchang and Xianxia miscommunication plot device 101.

What is the value of one life vs everyone in the world's lives? Is the dilemma LSS faces. On the off chance that TTJ somehow doesn't become the devil god, is it worth the risk of not inflicting the nails? She has a mission that has been entrusted to her by everyone she's ever loved.

It's not 'LSS is so cold. She doesn't understand nature vs. nurture.' It's that she has the actual fate of the world on her shoulders, and she has to decide if it's worth it to save one man at the risk of everyone else. We as viewers just happen to really, really love that man.

And even then she isn't actually able to do it until she believes he killed her grandmother in cold blood, and that he mind controlled her into killing Xiao Lin (which he actually did do). Only then can she inflict the nails. Of course as viewers we know the whole story, but she does not.

When she fails at the nails and finds out the truth, she makes it her mission to destroy the evil bone, yes, but also to SAVE HIS LIFE. Her guilt is manifest in the physical harm the world overturning jade causes her. She is absolutely in mind to die to save him and give him another chance at life.

The show would have been better if it explicitly delved into that more because to be honest, a lot of viewers have trouble reading those implications.

Also Xiao Lin! Her need to save him is one part where her emotional side does overwhelm everything else, but people say over and over it 'doesn't make sense.' It does. It's just that the show doesn't remind you of the fact that she failed to save her 'Xiao Lin' back in episode one.

Adding to LSS's trauma is the fact that she is fully convinced she is going to die. Even before she decides to give TTJ her immortal essence, she thinks she will not survive this task. It's only in the brief segment of time when they were a happy couple where she was optimistic enough to think this may not be the case.

People also get on her case for not trusting him, but he doesn't fully trust her either. Again, it was less than a year ago that she experienced her world destroyed by a version of Tantai Jin that did become the devil god. Why is it so hard to believe that this trauma, no matter how much we want her to fully believe in TTJ, doesn't just go away? Even if it doesn't feel fair to TTJ? Remember that the devil god doesn't just look like TTJ; it is TTJ if he'd died that day in the snow, taken over by the spirit of the DG.

Mostly; it's clear that the show realized at some point what a good character TTJ is and what a good job LYX was doing with him, but that shouldn't have resulted in them sidelining LSS and Bai Lu. Nor should it have resulted in them cutting back her perspective. There are side characters they could have taken screentime away from instead (you know who).

The show needed to be more empathetic to her. It's naturally empathetic to TTJ, because he is sad and abused, but for LSS, they didn't put the work in as well.

The last five episodes are almost irreconcilable with how poorly they treated LSS. She plainly did not have a story of her own. She was moved around like a chess piece to wherever the narrative needed without any input from her, for the most part. The ONLY really good stuff we got with her was regarding Dimian, but even then, the payoff was weak. Love that she still believed in TTJ, hate that she didn't have a huge part in defeating her dick dad.

LI SUSU IS SUPPOSED TO BE EXTREMELY POWERFUL.

She is the lady of spirituality. She is THE cultivator with the power to become a goddess. She's the daughter of a goddess. We just don't see this. If anything, it comes across like cultivator!TTJ is more powerful than her, which is silly. He's not using demonic powers at that point, and he's still new to cultivating.

In the finale episodes, she doesn't make many decisions of her own. Everything comes down to TTJ's plan. Even when she becomes a goddess, it's because she's (quite literally) shoved into it.

I saw an article that said one thing that makes TTEOTM 'brave' and 'interesting' is that it sidelines the FL to focus on the ML at the end, but I am sorry, in what world is that the innovative route? China is not that different than the west in that it still prioritizes the importance of men in storytelling. The fact that the story started out SO much from Li Susu's perspective, and then made her basically contingent by the end, is a big weakness of the last eps of TTEOTM. I'm not asking to see TTJ do less, I'm asking to see her do more.
