reached a realization that my love for hong lu is an extension of my middle-school love for kuromaru tokisaka from uq holder
#huge tags warning#theyre both cute theyre both gender they both have long black hair#perhaps this is my real type after all#im gonna be real i have such complicated feelings about kuromaru#theyve always been my favorite character but i still maintain that the manga completely botched their narrative#they got done so dirty#like tell me why they identified as male for so many chapters only for them to end up in a female body#or tell me why the gender questioning was centered completely around their attraction to tota#i also really hate how the other characters frequently tried to force them into a more feminine presentation#let them be!!! let them figure it out themself gOD#i like the genderfluid headcanon for them the most but i dont think thats where the manga was headed and thats why i dropped uq holder lol#i just wish that we couldve seen more of their exploration with gender that wasnt so centered on tota#i would say that their story is complex and messy because of internalized transphobia and internalized homophobia#and gender roles#but we all know the author didnt think that far lmao#at least kuromaru seems comfortable in the later chapters thats all i can really ask for#i love them so much aüh they make me want to cry#sorry for ranting in the tags LMAO#bagel babble
