More cat AU stuff, and I'm putting up a possible TW for more angsty stuff this time around. Not too much, but definitely going into some possibly distressing topics when it comes to the backstories of these cats

And I'm focusing on the Toa Metru cats this time more than anything

So, just saying it now, in terms of size, Nuju and Nokama are the biggest, as in they're tall and long. Whenua isn't kitten sized, but he's definitely not exactly the average size for a cat. Onewa, Matau, and Vakama are pretty averge sized, but Onewa is on the taller end

Matau follows Nokama EVERYWHERE. You swear there's some kind of cat crush going on, but you're never too sure

Seeing Vakama see the future for the first time was FRIGHTENING because you thought he was having a seizure. He wasn't. He did honk at you to warn you about a power outage, though

You found what about a hint of what Matau has been through due to his fur being dyed green and never having any chill whatsoever. You found out his last family was a bit "eccentric" to say the least, as in they got him on impulse and one day wanted to try out some pet-safe dye on him. There's also the way he always "reminds" you he's there by sitting on the counter, pawing at you, doing stunts, and even holding onto your hand. You remind him that you see him and he can treat knowing he'll be taken care of

You've had relatives try to "borrow" your cats before. While away on the way back from vacation, you got a text on how Nokama had basically been cat-napped by a relative because, "she's such a good cat," and you had to call the police to get her back. You've had similar events happen to Nuju and Whenu, but before your relative left, you heard a loud meow and realized your cats were getting stolen from you

You've had relatives also try returning/getting rid of your cats, namely Onewa, Matau, and Vakama. You had to get Onewa and Matau out of the pound and Vakama out of the garage

Needless to say, there are certain relatives that are now forbidden from coming to your house and you pampered the cats IMMENSELY because you missed them and didn't want to lose them again

Your friends are MUCH more forgiving; They house sit and make sure the cats are taken care of. Trays of ice for Nuju, books for Nokama, puzzles they do with Vakama's 'help,' movies and scratching stuff for Onewa, little random things to hide around the house for Whenua to find, and foldable tunnels that Matau can throw himself through

You only have plastic plates and cups and Onewa is the reason why. You've also bought a drawer for your knives because you don't trust him near your knife stand

You've cried in front of the cats before, whether it be because a movie, show, or book got you or because of life stuff, and they've all comforted you, even Onewa, who let you hug him

Speaking of Onewa, he likes to love bite you and likes holding your hand or fingers in between his teeth. It's purely a comfort thing for him, but it never hurts, so you're fine with it

You've seen Vakama lead all of the cats to a spider that was in your home and watched them get rid of it. It remains to be one of the most badass things you've seen from him

Matau loves when you have to clean any hard tiled or hardwood flooring because he and Onewa play on and through the chairs

Nuju isn't 100% a cold judge to you. He does enjoy curling into your arms at night and enjoys time alone with you.

The cats mostly get along. Nuju and Whenua are okay with each other, Onewa and Matau are best friends, Nokama is good at keeping Vakama calm, Matau is usually hugging up against everyone, Nokama is good at herding everyone, and Whenua shows everyone what he found after he showed you

As mentioned previously, Vakama was in a house fire prior to being with you. That fire was caused by a fight that happened between his original owner and some unsavory company, to put it lightly. The event left Vakama needing to be nursed back to health and without an owner or home, but he's since gotten better and has a burn scar to remember the event by, specifically one at the center of his head where his fur was burned off. After some digging, you found out where his original owner was buried and took Vakama to visit him. There was initial confusion, because Vakama's a cat and has never been to a graveyard before, but when he recognized where you brought him and whose grave he was at, you swear it was the first time you heard a proper meow from him and nearly cried because he was laying on the grave and refusing to move. Because you love your cat, you waited for him to be ready to leave and you were ready to give Vakama as much space as possible when you two got home. He refused to leave your side even for a second, resting in your lap and curling into you

You TOTALLY go all out for the cats on their "Got You" day(you celebrate adopting all of them on the day they were all together for the first time). Balloons, streamers, party hats, custom signs, a literal cake, you name it. Your friends help too, which is awesome. A few borrowed the cats to take them out for a little while(One took Whenua, Nokama, and Nuju to a bookstore to do some reading, one took Onewa and Matau to a park to play, and one took Vakama to visit his owner again begore they all met yo and got the cats a much-needed spa day; Onewa was fine with it, don't worry) and the cats were hella surprised to see how much of a crazy cat person you really were. To cut a long story short, it was an awesome day for you and for the cats, even if Nuju stared at you the entire time like you'd lost your mind, Matau and Onewa tried to destroy the decorations, and Vakama kept panting and needing to be held.the whole time. Nokama was more intrigued and Whenua was more curious than he'd ever been. The clean-up was a nightmare because you went all out, but it was all worth it because you love your cats. And yes, they had a bug cuddle puddle on your bed that night

Okay, in the KNPS AU, we know the Mata and the Metru's stances on pets... how about the Inika/Mahri and the various other Toa? (Helryx, we know your favorite animal is the african grey you own who is just as intimidating as you.)

Jaller: dog and cat person equally. Has a pet golden retriever and she is the sweetest dog on the planet. Wishes his parents would let him get a crab like Takua's.

Hahli: has farm dogs and barn cats and likes them both fine enough but is a horse girl in her heart of hearts. Is trying so hard to keep that under wraps.

Kongu: Bird Boy. Has a pet budgie. Genuinely debating whether it's named Ka or to go with @avita-anarchy 's suggestion and give him a Kia with a missing i in the logo.

Hewkii: gets emotional about tiny dogs. He and Macku have made many jokes about adopting dogs instead of having kids when they're older. Neither of them is actually joking.

Nuparu: allergic to animal dander. Loves lizards and wants one so bad.

Matoro: walking animal encyclopedia. Loves birds, especially chickens. Firm believer in keeping your fucking cat indoors.

Takua: crab :) became somewhat less enamored by regular pets after they had to clean up after other people's pets on the regular.

Krahka: hates cats. Will not explain why.

Norik: president of the Creepy-Crawly Fan Club. Has been working in conservation efforts for endangered lizards and bugs for decades. Matoro thinks he's so cool and Kualus doesn't feel A Kind Of Way about that

Varian: prefers humans. Animal brains weird her out.

Kualus: has been fascinated by birds since he was a kid. You know that post like "oh you're a bird fan? Name every bird" and then they do? That's Kualus.

Ahkmou: says his favourite animal is snakes because snakes are cool and badass but actually it's goats.

Nuju: Shy about initiating PDA, but won't refuse it, so hold his hand or whatever. He's generally not easy to fluster, but makes an exception for you. He smells like spearmint and lavender. Likes to organize things, often suggests dates to observatories, planetariums, or areas with low light pollution to do a little stargazing. Down to try new things if you can convince him. Level-headed, a little snarky, shows affection through touch & acts of service rather than words; prefers to receive affection through acts of service. Knows all your favorite movies and snacks. A bit of a control freak, needs to be reminded that the two of you are a team every so often. Time spent with him makes you feel calm and refreshed. If he's coming up behind you, he'll let you know by gently touching your shoulder or back. Down to try anything in bed at least once and is surprisingly kinky, but gets easily flustered if he's not in control. Surprisingly incredible stamina.

Vakama: Extremely easy to fluster. Shy about PDA in public, but extremely cuddly in private, loves holding you & being held by you. He smells like leather and sandalwood. Likes art museums, art fairs, and other art-related activities as dates; gets very into the details of whatever craft he's investigating, so he'll spend ten minutes looking at chisel angles in a sculpture or asking an art fair vendor about their materials. Also enjoys stories, so take him to a play or book reading. Completely unaware of how attractive he is. Shows affection through quality time and acts of service; prefers to receive affection through touch and needs to be acclimated to acts of service & words of affirmation. Good at managing personal finances. If he's coming up behind you, he'll smush his face into your back like a cat. Can be convinced to take charge in bed, but needs a lot of affirmation. Excellent kisser.

Matau: PDA all over the place, must be touching you in at least two places at ALL TIMES, his hand is somehow always in the back pocket of your jeans. Even clingier in private. He smells like fresh laundry and cloves. Flirty, great eye contact, sometimes needs to be reminded to talk about his issues rather than joke them away. Very funny, great sense of humor, easygoing, always makes you laugh. Literally down for ANYTHING when it comes to dates: a scenic ride on his fancy motorbike, dancing, ziplining, trespassing, trying new things, etc. Also loves a good concert. Shows and prefers to receive affection through quality time & words of affirmation. If he's coming up behind you, he'll slide his arms around your waist and plant his chin on your shoulder. Extremely adventurous & eager in bed, often takes charge but is open to the reverse. Gives oral & takes it up the ass like a fucking champ.

Nokama: A comfortable, casual, acceptable level of PDA. Likes to hold hands when out and about. Makes a lot of eye contact, good at flustering you. She smells like pine and mountain air. Has a smile and laugh that make you melt, great sense of humor, witty. Great communicator. Open to anything when it comes to dates within reason; loves trying new things, going to new places, etc. Loves science museums, archaeology museums, and aquariums the most, but also down for peaceful nights in or a coffee shop work date. If she's coming up behind you, she'll drape an arm around your waist and lean into you. Shows affection through quality time and words of affirmation, prefers to receive affection through affirmation or acts of service. Whenua: Extremely chill about PDA, do whatever you want to him. Proud and protective, so he likes to have an arm around your shoulder or a hand on your thigh whenever you're seated together. Normally a bit grouchy, he softens up considerably when he's with you. Straightforward communicator, can be a little blunt. He smells like spiced coffee. Gives the most incredible massages. You love his big, jolly, infectous belly-laugh. Big on museums, aquariums, and zoos when it comes to dates. Also loves window shopping, because stores are just museums where you can buy things. Also likes a good bar trivia night, but he can get a little competitive at these. Goes to therapy for work hazard trauma management. Shows and receives affection through words of affirmation, touch, and gifts. If he's coming up behind you, he'll place his whole hand on your upper back and rub gently. Prefers to follow your lead in bed, down to try anything you ask for. Calls you pet names in bed.

Onewa: Not big on PDA, but fine with subtle stuff like holding hands in public or putting a hand on your thigh when seated together. A lot more touchy in private. Brash and snarky, will rib you good-naturedly but needs to be aware of when it's taken too far. Straightforward and blunt communicator; thinks miscommunication is a waste of time and would prefer it if you just talked to him about any issues. Surprisingly mature about criticism, a good team player and partner but expects you to be the same. Dates involve sports games, art-related events, and rock climbing. Shows and receives affection through acts of service and gifts. If he's coming up behind you and you're in private, he'll just grab your ass, honk. Prefers to take the lead in bed, pretty kinky and enjoys talking shop about kinks, no kinkshaming only kink-same-ing here. Lays pipe like a fucking champ.

this motherfucker. is a Big One. MANY thoughts on it, still trying to iron out some of it. heavily based on g1 but with g2 elements that are nice/interesting to me specifically Such As the mask making via elements deal, ekimu, and the okoto setting. i am Cramming As Much Mostly Relevant G1 Things In This As Possible. includes all main toa teams so mata, metru and inika as well as the chronicler's company, Lhikan lesbian ver, several of the Makuta, the Barraki (who are actual animals and also a polycule because why not) and a MNOG-like Makuta who honestly loves and cares for his brother the Great Spirit and thinks putting him in a coma will help. also pewku and jaller's crab. theres even a voriki implication. i have a big post in the drafts for this and perhaps one day it will appear

2009-10 elements will not manage to be included nor will 2016-17 elements. the former because i cannot fit those lads in here tho perhaps bara magna life & survival will make it through, the latter because i havent seen journey to one and frankly i dont know if theres anything of value to take from it. please do yell at me at length in case you disagree. i am very serious abt that i want to learn more, its just that i cant be arsed to get netflix for anything

B) human g2015 au

classic modern times human au but with 2015 characterization bc i like the web episodes. the thoughts i have about this are nebulous at best but good lord if it aint good fun to think about

THE GOOD NEWS IS that while the main characters will be limited to the toa mata nuva, i can mention as many characters in this as i want. possibly all of them. they are just new zelanders now, they live there. they have jobs and stuff. im going to include the fucking moburzhak. i can even put the g1 mata in there as bizzarely omonimous different characters. i am a god

THE ALSO GOOD NEWS IS i can overthink characterizations you wouldnt even dream of so i can take these cardboard cutouts that are the toa and try to engineer something compelling out of them somehow through the power of incredible neurodivergency and this morbid interest in group dynamics i just found

the bad news is i have little to no plot yet. few story beats that i have are discovery of the powers ala superheroes, lewa getting possessed, pohatu having a panic attack, subsequent slow kohatu development from strangers to friends to lovers because im Fucking Weak For Them, onua leaving lewa underground briefly because hes fucking tired of his attitude, slow lewa/tahu/gali development from clashing to friends to what i can only describe as the human equivalent of a cat colony, stupid winter episode, and undecover mission in drag at a fancy place. most of my fully formed thoughts are for this last one but i still have no idea how this happens or why they have to do it, i just know that the boys make for a bunch of pretty ladies. i am just spitting ideas

also had more specific ideas regarding the main toa such as them being half maori and half another ethnicity (australian aboriginal/hawaiian/jewish/latin american/african just to give a few ideas), onua being aromantic and lewa being goth

C) Foster Parent au

also known as What Watching A Whole Ass Blind-Run Of Bloodborne While Having A Soft Spot For Toa-Turaga Familial Relationships Does To A Motherfucker AU, or also alternatively Superpowers? Divinity? WRONG! COSMIC HORROR AU

only features the Toa Mata, Toa Metru Hordika, Artakha, Karzhani and Velika. the Toa Mata are six parentless siblings separated at birth, bounced around the system until each ended up assigned one of the Toa Metru as their foster parent. weird elemental shit starts happening more prominently now that theyre in a safe and loving environment, and a mysterious man named Artakha who seems to have history with the Metru begins showing up insistently and intimidatingly demanding custody of the kids as their father.

its about the PARENT-CHILD CONNECTIONS and the SIBLINGHOOD and the HORRORS and the FOUND FAMILY and the PARENTAL LOVE and the HORRORS AGAIN

Little things I imagine the Toa Metru doing/little things that happened between them even if it isn't canon:

If the team needs to stop somewhere to sleep, Nuju always calls the first dibs on watch duty because then he can see the stars and not have to worry about being interrupted by anyone

There are "odd pairs"/friendships among the team: Onewa and Matau, Nuju and Vakama, and Whenu and Nokama. Onewa and Matau get along mostly because they agree with a lot of things, one of those things being that they're getting used to being Toa and are looking forward to what that could bring for them, Nuju and Vakama have that sort of "quiet communication" where the two just vibe and have entire conversations with nothing but the slightest movements and gestures, amd Nokama and Whenua are a teacher and archivist, both knowledgeable and intelligent, so they've got information they can bounce off each other and intel with, depending on where they are

While walking together, the team TOTALLY had one of those meet and greet things, and it was so awkward because some of them already kind of know each other while others have no idea who the other is. Nuju admittedly only knew Vakama as the guy who fixed the lense for hus telespcope eye

Whenua and Nuju politely agree to disagree on their past professions and beliefs, Whenua being most familiar with the past while Nuju is most familiar/comfortable with the future

Nuju is intrigued with Vakama having visions, but he's not going to admit it

All six were in Ko-Metru, and Matau instigated a snowball fight with Onewa, and it spread to the whole team. Onewa and Matau had an alliance, Nuju took cover behind a building with Whenua, Nokama was trying to help, but Vakama kept throwing and hitting Matau and Onewa

Everyone thinks Vakama is harmless, being quiet, possibly cross-wired, and having werid visions, but no. He's not. He has the best aim out of all of them and they found out.

Once the team had a chance to breathe for a second and plan after leaving Metru Nui, they go around and share what their mask powers are, everyone seeing the anticipation on each other's faces as they show off just for each other. They're all impressed with each other's abilities, from Vakama's ability to turn invisible to Nuju's telekinesis, even from Nokama's translating to Matau's shape-shifting. It's just a moment the team had while they have a chance to rest and think about what to do next

This is just a headcanon I have: Vakama isn't an animal person. There were instances where small Rahi(like birds or mice) got inside and did nothing but distract him. Well, tough luck because animals/Rahi like him. Small birds, cats, little animals/Rahi that he can pick up, they like that he's warm and quiet

I know canon says romance doesn't exist, all the same Matau is, in a way, head over heels for Nokama. Others have noticed, i.e. Onewa, and he got under Matau's skin by being by Nokama for the whole day

There is an unspoken rule with the team: DO NOT DISTRACT WHOEVER’S DRIVING. Matau guves Vakama a run for his money with "murder eyes," and Onewa throws things. The others don't necessarily know how to drive anything, so that goes to Matau and Onewa

All of them did have friends from Metru Nui that have had their memories wiped and live on Mata Nui. It hurts to see them not knowing their friends, but it's better to see them alive and well than anything else

Back to the sillies: The team has inside jokes that only they know. It's so confusing to hear for outsiders, but the team gets it and everyone at least cracks a grin

The kikinalo love Nokama, like Vakama, and think Matau is funny
