Obscure, Rare, or Lesser Known BJD Resin Doll Companies and Independent Creators
Some artists and shops I know of and think you should too! (Mostly from Korea and China.)
Last updated April 2022.
ARK Doll (@arkdoll_bjdclub on Instagram): Two handsome 70cm guys (comparable to SSDF/“strong uncle” size), carried by dealer Legend Doll for overseas sale, as written on the creator’s Instagram.
Artito Doll (@artitodoll on Instagram, @ArtiTogeun on Twitter): Independent doll artist from South Korea, due to release their first sculpt in June of 2022.
Atelier LIMO: A fine arts brand operated by doll company Little Monica in Korea, they sell heads created by student or apprentice sculptors, either in SD or MSD size.
ATStudio/Hook / 哈克 (cap.hook0101 on Instagram): Maker of handsome Idealian-sized guy heads and a new 74cm body which were sold in limited releases and I think at doll events? Some may be familiar with their Baker sculpt, or perhaps Tengo, but they seem to be quite elusive. Collaborated with Lucaille (IG mewoh.l_66) featuring gorgeous lace-front wigs. Update: New Baker on the M74 body can be pre-ordered through Lucaille!
BNBDoll: Cute guys on a 65cm body, with rounded, youthful features reminiscent of Migidoll.
Bodoll: 1/3 heads and 1/6-scale mature minis, all of which seem to be sold on a preorder basis.
Capsule Sculpt Etsy (inausg on Instagram): A Taiwanese artist who sculpts both traditionally and digitally. Their 1/3 girl head Eva, available for a limited time, reflects the artistry of their craft, with a dreamy expression and rounded cheeks that bring to mind an antique porcelain doll.
Devotion Doll (6anli on Instagram): Delicate sculpts that fit 60-65cm bodies, sold in limited sales periods. Their Five Senses collection reflects how “Through our eyes, skin, tongue, nose and ears, we feel and we live”. Sense and Palate were previously released, with future plans for Vision, Aroma, Hearken and Caress.
Dollits: Currently offering 43cm girls, formerly 1/6 Yo-SD and 70cm EID-range size sculpts and bodies.
Dreaming Doll: Girl and boy dolls in multiple different sizes.
Fantasia Doll/Uidoll: Their original claim to fame was their Elder line, with a male and female body in the same size range as Iplehouse EID. After closing down for at least a few years, they returned with new bodies in more conventional sizes in the 60cm range.
Fulled Heaven x Sealed Heaven by R.Dean (rdean_zu on Instagram): A popular faceup artist turned doll sculptor, with four big Idealian75-size guy heads so far and plans for smaller versions in the future. Also makes eyes under the brand name of Ash in Noon.
Kana Doll (kana798 on Instagram): A long-time artist in the hobby. Adrian is probably her most popular sculpt. Heads are in SD13~17 range with delicately rounded features and boyish charm.
Illusion Garden (illusiongarden_doll on Instagram): I’d say these dolls fall firmly into the “rare” category most, despite being a bit obscure; their 65cm size boy heads are notoriously hard to get ahold of, even when sending an e-mail order at the exact time and date when pre-orders are open. (I’m totally not bitter after failing for consecutive years in a row… Maybe it’s just not meant to be!)
IZE Stage (ize_stage on Instagram): Handsome and strong-featured male sculpts that fit larger, 75cm bodies like Soom ID75. Their peach resin is a good match for the Souldoll Tera Zenith body in normal resin.
Jround (@aakik_o on Instagram, jroun_d on Twitter): Headed by Akiko, a multitalented artist who paints faceups and makes eyes in addition to 3D modeling. Their first head, NEO, debuted in April 2022 for a limited time, hopefully with more on the way!
LeMoon (jihong_lemoon on Instagram): Adorable 1/3 60-65cm and 75cm boy heads in Switch resin colors; limited pre-order periods only.
Mazarine Blue Doll (mbluedoll on Instagram): SD head and MSD girl on pre-order.
Mokona Doll (fulfilled by Dearmine, mokona_doll on Instagram): SD-sized heads that were crafted love to have kind and good-natured faces.
Mori 9’s Doll (hierophantmori on Instagram): Has beautiful sculpts created by 3D modeling, with Idealian size Veles and Austaras sold by email lottery. Their older Nanase sculpt (to whom I’ll affectionately refer as “pretty boy with tongue sticking out”) seems to be highly sought after in the Chinese secondhand market. Some of their works were released in collaboration with Universe Doll (Blue Wolf, White Fox), and for a limited time by Doll Family-H (Lu Xian).
MyDolling: Dolls in 24, 31, 42-45 and 53cm sizes, mostly girls, sculpted by South Korean artist Gu Mi Jung, best known for the Zaoll and Narsha lines fulfilled by Dollmore.
Mystery Phoenix: Lovely 66cm girls, often with a distinctly Chinese inspiration/fashion.
NakanaDoll Etsy/Nakana Workshop (nakana_workshop on Instagram) : SD full girl dolls or just the head, and one boy sculpt, charming like the subjects of an oil painting portrait.
PLUTOdolls Etsy: Childlike 1/4 MSD sculpts sold on their original body, both male and female.
Prime/Frame (prime_frame on Twitter, primeframe_bjd on Instagram): Original heads and a few bodies to choose from: 70cm and two 65cm, SD17 range bodies, one male with a slender and less muscular build, and one female with nice defined abs and biceps. All sold on a limited basis. Resin colors are close to Switch.
Pygmalion Doll (pygmalion_doll on Instagram): They offer an array of gorgeous sculpts, mainly for bigger, 70cm bodies, who look like supermodels or pop star idols. Released during certain pre-order periods, they also have the TEIA71 body (Iplehouse EID size) available for purchase.
Redollent (redollent_bjd on Instagram): Original head sculpt and a 65cm body with either female or androgynous features. Resin colors match Switch.
Rosetta Doll (rosettadoll_maker on Instagram): Limited SD-sized boy and girl sculpts in the 60-65cm size range. They don’t seem to get re-released often, if at all, so make sure to preorder before they’re gone!
Rugged Realism (dkeats888.03 on Instagram): An Australia-based sculptor who creates amazing original bodies and sculpts in SD size. Their first series included some ruggedly handsome dudes but unfortunately, it seems they won’t be sold again. There is now a second collection of 65cm gentlemen, “Rites of Passage,” which debuts on May 25, 2022.
Simply Meant to Be (obscure_kind on Instagram) So far one slim MSD boy doll, Dohwee, has been released, with two preorders to date: a whimsical cutie who became quite popular in the Asian communities, to the point it was even recasted, so watch out for cheap sales from random dealers, like some found on eBay.
Sooleedoll/Msdoll: 1/4, MSD girls as a head or full doll, and older 1/3 SD sculpts sold in limited openings.
Souris Etoile (souris_etoile on Instagram): 60-65cm, SD13-17 size single heads, good match for Switch resins. Opened through limited pre-orders only.
Story of (the) Seventh Day (story_of_seventh_day on Instagram) Recently released the ambitious 73cm “Horus” doll, based on imagery of the Egyptian god, with a human and eagle head. Clocking in at a whopping $1,700, with optional parts available at $75 more, he can be purchased from authorized dealer Moonlight BJD in a limited quanty of 100. Their next doll Seth, a counterpart to Horus, is currently in the works.
Theo Doll (fulfilled through Dollmore): The eponymous Theo is an adorable 60cm guy from the same sculptor of the Zaoll girls, Gu Mi Jung. Described as having eyes which are “pensive yet handsome,” with a “natural Asian bodyline” (realistically slim) and an overall impression of being “friendly and congenial.”
Vings (dollvings on Instagram): First rising to prominence as a urethane eye maker, now offering 68-70cm bodies and heads in a variety of different resin colors, great for hybrids. Sold in limited releases, their work can be purchased through the company’s Taobao shop or dealers like newclover-singing and Moonlight BJD House.
WinterRain Studio: Cute 1/3 SD boy sculpts offered on a 60 or 65cm body.
Yicen/Y.Cen / Hivernal Serenade (yicen061 on Instagram; yicen on Flickr): Has released two male sculpts, Chong Lin and Wu Qi, on a 75cm body, fulfilled by Moonlight BJD House. Notable past works include Chi Ye/Chilly and Douglas Winchester (I goofed and put Dean Winchester at first, but that didn’t look right…)

Dollzkastle
This is a blog dedicated to fans of the dollzkastle
To answer some Questions that you may have for myself or the dolls~ 🎀
I am going off of the questions I’ve been asked for years or even the new ones I’ve been getting since I’ve created a Tiktok~ I hope this answers your questions you’re looking for, now let’s begin 🐮
Myself Behind the dolls; my name is Decklynn but people call me Dk or Deck. I am an Agender with He and Him pronouns. I am a little with a caregiver/ daddy and I am a pet owner of 3 Kitties. I do both makeup and Doll art. I am a twenty something year old adult who’s been into crafting and customizing Dolls since I was a child. I am also an artist and got interested in drawing at a young age so I already had the type of skill to Draw on things and recreate facial hair and all types of stuff like this. I went to collage and majored in art while living at home with my parents who were Both Transphobic and Homophobic but also Abuse I’ve endured since a young age, physical, mental ive developed a great deal of mental health problems That even now I am being diagnosed and treated for. With an alcoholic parent and upon my mental health problems and living in a terrible environment that was life long I left home and left school and started my own life with my fiancé One day my fiancé was online and seen Big dolls that looked realistic and those dolls I was so fascinated by. I have never seen anything like them and to make a big 3D version of my ocs and crafting just sound like a dream come true. So I did it! I bought my very first BJD 600$ and I never regretted that. I wanted this one because I just fell Inlove with him. I know you’re thinking 600$!? That’s crazy but it literally is worth every penny when you put your heart and soul into a project it’s like your favorite anime character but you create them and you style them, that’s the best way I think I can put it.drawing on them is not as easy as other may think, you can be a phenomenal artist but still lack the skill to paint on them so it took me years to build the skill I have now. I am still learning 🤍🐮My first dolls unboxing is on YouTube under Octoberv12 ~ if you’re interested in just a little photo video of that time it seems like now, forever ago. My dolls gained huge popularity in 2018 on Instagram where there is a page I’ve dedicated to fanart and cosplays if you just #dollzkastlefanart on Instagram you will find them. I’ve taken a big break from them and left my old account behind to start a fresh and new one in 2020 till a month ago that’s when I decided to join Tiktok. I’ve been doing little music clips of the dolls for a while so I thought you guys would Enjoy them too 💓🐮
Questions and answers ?
Where are you from? New York
What websites are you on?
YouTube I have the dolls playlists individually. I put a lot of effort and energy into their characters they all have stories, music playlists and even avatars and their own accounts on Social media sites.
I am on Instagram under Dollzkastle, myDollzkastle, Decklynnkastle, Decklynnkastlee, omridurr, Acydfei, Princethedoll, Rjeaii, Dollzkastlefanart, Xeroyandere, milesophelia, crysky1, miloscenebabyxo, flowerboyrose, & itsmamamikki & Jasphire.vu
On Fb under Decklynn kastle or Milo Ryo
On Tiktok decklynn kastle or Dollzkastle
On Imvu Decklynnkastle, ivanx3, jeninsai, crackheadsymbols, charleta123, oaklynn10, jasphirexx, romanjackjrs, charleta1, Gemini953005, Milesawayfromyliife, BinxLemment, miloscenebaby, yandereboi7, Princethedoll1, acydfei, royal461349, KandyKimmy, mama13708, thyunderbolt1, ezratheomen
On Tumblr @dollzkastle @acydslitterbox
@ezratheomen , @mamamikki there are more but I’m not too active on tumblr right now
Do you sell your dolls? No I do not they’re my babies and I put a lot of work into their characters and I am emotionally attached to each of them. I have sold some that I didn’t bond well with.
What do you use to paint on them? I use acrylic paint, soft pastels, water color pencils, graphite, acrylic gloss and sealer. Doll eyelashes, little craft hoops and balls for piercings and craft tiny beads for jewlary. I use yarn sometimes for their hair but other times I purchase their hair online. Sometimes I draw them tattoos and sometimes I use Temp tattoos.
Do you do commissions? I do commissions for people who need work done to their own BJDs like faceups, hair or blush and nail art. I don’t buy dolls to work on to sell but in the future I’d like to do that. It’s an expensive hobby so get your pockets ready. My faceups are 60$ but for something really advanced it will be 80$ plus shipping charges. Nail art is 5$, blush is 10$ wigs are 25$ I’ve had people ask if they could buy the doll send them to my address instead of their home, I work on them and then send them to that person but you have to remember there is money involved and I mean lots of it so if you’re buying a 300$ doll via through me to a website you have to be willing to also pay me for putting this doll together which we can talk about via email the price. I will be able to hook you up with feedback located on Instagram under my thread “Dollzkastle” where you can see some of the items I’ve sold or commissions I’ve done and my customers I’ve had.
The quickest way to reach me is via Instagram on Decklynn kastle 🐮💗
What are the dolls made out of ?
Resin. I know there are vinyl bJDs out there but mine are just made out of resin~ 🍭🤍
So if you don’t sell your dolls, where do I get one ?? On BJD websites but be aware of scams or Recasts also which are usually cheaper and too good to be true prices. I’ve had my fair share in mistakes with this in the beginning after my first Doll. Do lots of research on YouTube to learn more. Recasts are heavily looked down upon in the hobby and people tend to stay away from and not talk about them because they are a problem to the hobby and create damage by taking an artists work and selling them for much cheaper. You will not get head plates or certificate or authenticity cards or an original Box. They tend to be much smaller then an originalwitj seam lines and sometimes they’re easy to spot so just save your coins and go legit, Support the artists. I do not bully people but others will. Some official Bjd cheap websites are thejunkyspot, Angel of dream, mystic kids, migidoll, Alicecollections, bobobie, withdoll, littleRebel, littlemonica, supiadoll and crobidolls and so many more just do some research y’all find them. If you have that type of money or want to save then check, Hummingdolly, dollshe, Soom, Doll chateau, dream valley, Iplehouse, Dikadoll, iOS (immortality of soul) distantmemory (the BTS dolls are from here I know a lot of you like BTS I am a Kpopper myself lol) and there’s just so so much more just type Bjd websites and y’all find a ton~ I just kinda remembered these at the top of my head. Lol 🐮💕
So where do you get clothes and accessories from?! Some are from EBay, Etsy, Amazon. Some are form people on IG who sell first come first served or little shops that don’t have a big name or anything that I just run into who happen to be selling what I want or need for a doll. I don’t make my own eyes but others do I get mine either commissioned or on the websites I just stated. Some stuff are handmade like wigs and clothing I do sometimes make those. You just have to know the size of your doll and their eye measurements and head measurements. 💗🐮
💜🍼Prince and his paci? The girl who sold them I bought two and she stopped selling them I’m currently looking myself for some Bigger doll pacis.
💕How big are your dolls? They’re as big as a toddler but much thinner. Some 3 feet and some a bit smaller but they’re large dolls sometimes people don’t realize that 🐮🤍 you can by a variety of diff sizes like MSD (1/4 30cm ranges) SD (1/3 60-75 cm range) SD uncle 80+ and Yosd (smaller 20cm or smaller range) I might be a little off but it’s because I only purchase the bigger ones I don’t have much interest in smaller currently.
Is it okay if I cosplay or draw or use anything from you for a project or anything like that? Just let me know or tag me 🌸💜🍭 I love seeing recreations in your art style.
Can I send the dolls gifts or things?
Someone is making my dolls currently clothes from their clothing line and I am so excited for this!! Over the years some of the dolls have been greatfully gifted things or given things and it just makes my heart melt so of course you can! Just Message me Via Decklynn kastle on IG to let me give you some info🤍💕💗🐮
I will be back to continue filling this out if I get more questions I haven’t already answered 💕🤍🐮 I hope I answered some for you! 🍭🌸 thank you for being lovely & have a great day!

Dolly ramble-news (SAF, Angelogue, Pettimal, LLT)
Stars Are Falling is running a 2nd pre-order for her 1/4 scale Viento head - only white and normal skin is available, plus 10 light tan (matched to Myou coffee resin) heads which will be released on Friday, 8pm China time. It makes a lovely boy or girl, check out the tan girl in this Weibo post! (The TB link is in the Weibo comments.)
This may be the first time I’m truly regretting not having an Instagram account - I missed out on the first head released by a new Korean doll company named Angelogue!  Eunice is 1/4 scale and super cute with her little button nose!  I'm getting strong Soom vibes (turns out the sculptor did Soom’s Breccia, Chalco, etc.). I like Soom Teenie Gem and Little Gem sculpts a lot, but haven't heard great things about their bodies, and they don't sell the heads separately... If Eunice gets re-released I will definitely have to consider her, even though I’m super stingy with adding new dolls to my MSD line-up~
Chinese sculptor Pettimal will do a limited run of her 2nd original 1/6 scale head named “papapa” tomorrow, 31st August 2018.  Like her first head, “dididi”, it will be limited to 100 pieces.  It will be available in “Volks white”, “Volks fair”, “Mia pink”, “Soom light tan” and wheat colours.  I can’t think of any other similar-looking 1/6 scale heads.
Few big dolls (bigger than MSD) make my heart skip a beat (which is why I almost never post about the big dolls), but LLT’s Roderich, specifically on the Ballerino body, is completely exquisite.  I follow the sculptor’s Weibo and, even when she posts photos of just feet, it’s pure eye candy.  @_@ (No, my pre-teen crew do not need a gigantic, ridiculously flexible, leotard-wearing babysitter...)

I have a new doll ololol!!!! Well, I have her for quite some time already, just couldn't pick the right eyes fo her)) She's Eunsu from Dollits, and I decided to purchase her because my only MSD (Dikadoll MianMian) has a chubbier, more childlike body. So I needed a model for my dresses and stuff that would look good not only on my SDs. It's my first doll whose body I don't want to modify. You know: my Soom Idealian is modified, my FaCo Doll is modified, my DIM Love is modified, and those are a very substantial mods. I even have tutorials on those on my Deviantart (I'm scargeear there). This body is so great in mechanics that I love everything about it! Congrats to a super talented Joonghyun Baek who designed a body to satisfy an extremely picky player like me! I only modded her eyes (made them smaller) so she would look better together with my small-eyed dolls. #wgrassbjd #bjd #doll #balljointeddoll #bjdphoto #bjdphotography #abjd #dollphotography #dollstagram #artistdoll #customdoll #commission #etsy #fashion #style #dollits #dollitseunsu #bjdfaceup #bjdmakeup #realisticfaceup #painting

OMG I usually just stay out of this, but since I got such a ridiculous reply, I must share it.
Where to begin...
1. An artist owes you nothing and can rise their price anyway they want to. I alsodon’t get it that Marth Rothko-like crap goes for millions and my pretty pictures don’t. If someone is stupid enough to pay this much, sure there are people to pay 2500 for 27cm of a figurine/doll. It is stoopid to me too, but if someone sees value in it then why not. And if someone gets butthurt over the doll then maybe cos it’s pretty and maybe for this reason the artist tries to sell it for this much. It’s upto them to decide and not a single butthurt person. Sure it’s insane a price, but then just don’t buy it.
2. Resinsoul, Bobobie and Fantasy doll have one thing in common (which sort of contradicts what you say about their ‘incredible quality’) - they’re not goodposers and their resin isn’t of THE highes quality. And Mirodoll... Yes, they were sure able to lower their prices, especially since they recasted and merely slightly reworked so many bodies, Iple and Dollstown included. If you’re backing your argument up with legit doll companies, could you at least avoid mixing into it recast companies? Please?
3. Another common feature of the majority of ‘cheaper’ bjds is their place of origin: Not Europe or Korea or Japan, but China, where it’s simply cheaper to produce any good (many reasons that are generally business-management-related). Maybe that’s why.
4. I am a good judge of my own talent so I see no reason why these artists can’t be. I am a good teacher, much better than some and I know myself I deserve better money for it. Same is with art or sewing. It’s actually good to know one’s self worth and aim high. These artists just aren’t insecure underachievers. I think it’s good for them that they aren’t.
5. And yet another common feature - Bobobie and Resinsoul and I guess many other ‘cheaper’ bjd companies do NOT offer amazing faceups, super-detailed and realistic body and face sculpts (consider Dollshe’s lips or Popovy’s feet) or fullsets. Not to mention the price they put into presenting their work - website and photography. A lot of money goes into this and customising even your own bjd is a lot of work. THere is more to it than physical labour such as sculpting or sanding. There is concept, months or even years of research, planning out ideas etc. I just don’t see this much of it in the ‘cheaper bjd companies’.
6. Listen, this was just an innocent question loaded with unbiased logic. I was not being rude or spiteful. I just ASKED. Are you going to block me because of it? Wow... I am sorry that your ‘peaceful zen sphere’ attitude is so one-sided. Why can’t you share a bit of your self-love and tolerance and bestown some of it onto me?
7. You won’t reply because too much logic on my side for you to handle?
8. “elitist’ and “self priclaimed >>pro-artist<<”? Wow that escalated quickly... Oh man, just look up my blog - I have ‘cheap’ bjds too. I have them second hand, often old. None of them goes beyong 400 bucks (I’m talking cute SD and MSD girls including some legit volks babes). Wow... I just asked on behalf SOME artists, since there are KNOWN instances of tiny legit companies (simply: artists) who went down because of recasts... (note: a ‘truuu’’ pro-artist would even hate me for implying that soom/volksfairyland deserve lesser pity for being recasted and putting a limit to what a small company can be formed of max 3 people)
9. You don’t know me and already assume bullshit. I used to own 2 recast heads. Got rid of them about 5 years ago. I only own legits and forever will. I do it for myself, not for the praise of the public. I have received hate from some hardcore anti-recasts even long after going legit. Their nastiness won’t change my pro-legit attitude because I did it for myself. This being said, I still am friends with people who  might own recasts because I value real-life connections. I am pro-artist but also pro-friendship. I don’t witchhunt (would be hypocritical of me but I know a lot of ex-rcast owners are like this) or think lesser of people who own them - their life=their business, I mind mine). Stop blindly judging if you don’t know me. You’re being plain rude and nasty right now.
10. I, on the other hand, am ready to continue because I operate using unbiased logic. Your blocking me only shows you’re unable to be on my high level. You demand respect for recast owners but you don’t even respect yourselves enough to ‘*think* before you say stuff.

I tried to make an update video yesterday but less then half way through, my stomach decided it wanted to go inside out so we spent the rest of the day in bed. BUT, one of the things I didn’t make it to is this girl! Siobhan, my Minifee Elf Siean finally has her own body! Awesome deal on this A line body from @fitzwig that I couldn’t pass up ( they’ll write this on my tombstone LMAO!) I thought I might give it to MSD Neela but Siobhan wasn’t having it! I think it suits her very nicely, the stature and the bigger bust really does give it a very mature feel. I love the Moe body so much it’s still my favorite but Siobhan didn’t fit it well. She’s wearing a a gold Raouken corset, DollZone corduroy pants, and a pair of Soom boots. #BJD #BallJointedDoll #LegitBJD #MinifeeSiean #Minifee

You don’t consider the size of something until you see it in person, at times. I’ve got 60cm SD dolls, they’re awesome. But that was the biggest I’d gotten or seen in person.
Long story short, I was able to get a legit second-hand Soom Narmer for a great price. He’s on the 75cm body.
Me having never seen one in person, I figured, hey, cool, I can get one for a sewing model, folks have these guys and it’d be fun to sew larger outfits as well. And it’s only 15cm bigger than I’m used to, no big deal, right?
I had been joking about getting a baby backpack carrier for hauling him around.
.....now I’m quite serious, holy crap. I think he’ll fit in my shoulder satchel if his knees are tucked up to his chest, barely. When I’m hauling Royhin around, that sucker is going to be the only one I’m carrying, none of that 1 SD - 3 MSDs ratio I normally use when I’m carrying them. I think he will also fit in my dragon bag, that I normally use for carrying three MSDs in their boxes.
Holy ship, he’s huge! And so cool, Soom has a resin brain instead of an S hook? That is awesome! I am just so totally in love with this dude. But struck by how friggin’ HUGE he is, seriously.
