Shall We Date: Worship Me AU - Gabriel (Avatar of Diligence)
What if the MC gets transported to the Celestial Realm instead? What if the angels were the love interests?
Tumblr media
GENERAL HCs
Known as the “Voice of God” and as such, is Big G’s primary messenger to the human world and the devildom
Because of this, he’s pretty well-known in the 3 worlds and knows a heck lot of different people
Also has a beautiful voice, the kind you’d want to listen to in an ASMR, podcast, audiobook, etc.
Then again do you really expect God’s voice to have anything other than a beautiful voice?
Like seriously his voice sounds like warm melted dark chocolate
He’s also Uriel’s younger twin brother
While Uriel is more akin to the cool and comforting countenance of the moon, Gabriel has the blazing warmth of the sun
Perpetually smiling, but each smile holds different meanings depending on how big it is, if there was any crookedness to it, if he showed his teeth, etc.
His close friends and family can usually tell which smile is which, but it’s his twin that can ALWAYS tell whatever mood he was in even just from analyzing his smile
Most of the time however, that smile hides a rambunctious imp that particularly likes playing tricks on anyone and everyone
He enjoys freaking people out and relishes the reactions they make. The more exaggerated the reaction, the better
That time Big G talked to Moses by going into that burning bush? It was Gabriel’s bright idea
Seriously though, that memory of him freaking out is one of Gabriel’s most treasured moments
Although truth be told, his all-time favorite reactions are the ones he least expected
One of his favorite pastimes is trying to coax a surprised reaction out of Uriel, seeing as his brother was normally so stone-faced
He feels that it’s his divine mission to get as many reactions out of Uriel as he can
He enjoys tormenting Raphael as much as he enjoys mentoring their youngest brother on how to speak effectively
A master of the art of speaking, so he knows every manner of using one's voice no matter what their intended outcomes were
Whether it's to soothe, anger, or seduce someone, Gabriel knows them all
But he asks a price for his services. You have to call him "Big Brother" sweetly if you want to even remotely get his attention for whatever favor you plan on asking him
Gabriel enjoys teasing others aside from pranking them
The flustered reactions he gets is always a nice treat
Don’t get him wrong though, he enjoys messing with others but it’s all light-hearted fun on his end and is never done with any intended malice
Rather, he actually makes sure that he never touches upon sore spots for anyone
He’s just a prankster, not an asshole
Out of the seven virtues, he also the one who still gets in touch the most with Lucifer and his brothers
He is a messenger after all so it’s a given he sends and receives messages the most
With how many prophecies, signs, and dreams he has to deliver Gabriel is almost always out and about. So he’s actually the one who’s least present in the celestial realm
You’d usually catch him on the rare times where he’s on break or in-between deliveries
Sometimes when he’s in need of a little entertainment during assignments, he’d spice up his deliveries by changing the method of delivering the messages
Like perhaps he was supposed to give a human a sign from Big G through a dream, but that’s so old-school so instead he delivers it when they’re wide awake and by themselves
He can’t possibly pinpoint the fact why some humans went to loony bins after he delivered their messages
P.S. They thought they went mad because of those “divine hallucinations”
A chaotic force of nature in all his white-haired, molten chocolate goodness
Emphasis on CHAOTIC
Like the rest of his brothers, he enjoys spoiling Azrael in the way normal big brothers spoil their younger siblings
Obligatory noogies, random wrestling moves, cheek pinching, etc.
An advocate of "No one can bully my siblings except me"
Frequently gets souvenirs from wherever he'd last gone to. He doesn't just get souvenirs for him though, he also gets some for his brothers
Limited edition keychains for Michael for example, sweets for Azrael, local ingredients for Cainabel, tea leaves for Raphael, a new book for Uriel, and etc.
For some reason people like giving him random stuff. Like he could just be passing by and one of his acquaintances or even someone who he'd never really hung out with but knew of him had just harvested their mango tree and now and a surplus of them, or ordered a bit too much of this or that and would give him their extras instead
That's why his pockets are perpetually full with little snacks, candies, and all a manner of random stuff
When his pockets get too full he pops up in the other virtues' offices to lighten his load so to speak
More often than not, it's Azrael who benefits from his brother's popularity since Gabriel himself doesn't eat too many sweets
He doesn't actually notice just how good-looking he is and couple that with his beautiful voice, you can see how and why he's so popular
His generally sunny and rambunctious personality has also earned him many fans
A fan of collecting stamps and has hundreds upon hundreds of books which contain every stamp that has ever come into existence
Stationery otaku
Michael once gave him a pen, one of those cheap ones you get at dollar stores with a cute character at the top. He still uses it until today and never leaves home without it
Regardless of how tacky something is, if it's from his brothers then Gabriel is sure to use it with happiness and pride

ROMANTIC HCs
He’s already a normally friendly and handsy type of guy so it’s kinda hard to notice if he’s actually romantically interested in you
Heck, even Gabe doesn’t realize that he’s into you for a good while because he believes the way he thinks about and reacts to you was still included in the realm of being platonic friends
So what if his heart does those little flips whenever you laugh good-naturedly at his antics? When you gave him that little smile of yours that he liked to think was reserved solely for him?
It’s probably nothing when his skin heats up a little bit whenever his skin touches yours even for a little bit
What do you mean he’s always hanging around you? You were his best friend so of course he’d almost always be with you!
He’s kind of like a bird in the sense that his attention span is always moving from one thing or another, but the fact that you manage to hold his attention for so long even when you’re not there was something that surprised and baffled his brothers
Most notably Uriel who was used to Gabriel flitting about, kind of like a hummingbird if he was being honest
Also like a bird, Gabriel gets a lot of random trinkets. Both of his own accord and because people just like randomly giving him stuff and if he deems any of them worthy enough for you, he’s sure as heck gonna present it and gift it to you as soon as possible
He practically preens whenever you accept his gifts (it doesn’t help that his wings sometimes pop out in all his happiness and excitement). Even just a little compliment gets him so happy and excited for the rest of the day
Offers you his wing to touch if you show even the slightest interest in their angel wings
“ You wanna touch them? They’re 100% guaranteed SUPER SOFT. I always keep my wings nice and tidy since I gotta keep up appearances as a messenger, ‘ya know? ”
Gabe doesn’t realize/forgets that to offer someone to touch the symbols of his power, his wings of all things, showed that he held you in high regard
It confirmed your purity of soul, because to be judged by an archangel, a Virtue even meant that you were a special type of soul, a diamond in the rough so to speak
Although Gabe himself doesn’t notice it, his brothers definitely notice his sudden fixation on you. It’s almost worrying seeing him sitting still for once
While most people would think Gabe would be as chill as he normally he is when facing the truth of his feelings...he isn’t
Many forget that he and Uriel are twins, born of the same core split into two by the Heavenly Father. They shared much more characteristics than just their looks
Once he’s enamored by something, this angel shows his almost infallible dedication to it and only God sits above it
Like Uriel, he does his best to observe and learn everything about you, but what’s scarier is that he does it so covertly that you don’t even know he’s fishing for information all the while relishing his time with you
It doesn’t help that as the Voice of God, his charms are nigh impossible to resist or even detect so you sometimes don’t even realize that he’s playing you right into the palm of his hands
Oh but you don’t have to worry though, Gabriel loves you with all his heart and only wishes to court you properly and perfectly. That’s another of the traits that he shares with his twin
You’ll never have to worry about him coaxing you into something you won’t like or is bad for you. He merely aims to show you the true extent of his pure love
Dates with him are always at different locations or generally something new, because there’s so much that he wants to show and experience together with you
Karaoke dates are a fan favorite between you two, because who DOESN’T wanna hear the Voice of God himself sing?
Like his voice is already like pouring warm melted dark chocolate to your ears but his voice is enough to send you floating happily into the Celestial Realm
“ So where should we go to next? ...Karaoke again? Do you really love hearing me sing that much, cutie? You know I can sing for you as much as you want. I’m all yours~ ”

Personally I like the idea of Giorno starting off the days with you at a nice restaurant, think of it as his little treat to make up for the times he was busy at work. I don’t really see Giorno being openly romantic in public with you or like he wouldn’t fancy the idea of PDA. So when you two would be out in a restaurant starting off the day he wouldn’t really get jealous of the people staring at you or do anything.
Of course if he knows some creepy is making you feel all wonky and uncomfortable he’ll just drink his tea and shoot a cold look directly at the person.
As the new Mafia Leader, he’d definitely like the idea of coming home to someone who can brighten up the rest of his day.
If it’s been a really stressful day and he’s a little injured or not, he’d definitely love to hear your laugh. He’d think it’s cute and matches you very well. As long as you’re happy that’s all that matters to him.
Now hear me out ya sure he’s a Mafia leader, but with you by his side I genuinely feel like you two would make a wonderful power couple. The little gangs lurking in the streets of Italy would fall weak by seeing both of you anywhere.
Now being someone that he’ll care about greatly. He’d make sure you’re safe and away from any danger that the wonky gangs/criminals of the Italian streets consist of.
Did I mention he’d be a little softie for you? Ya. Well I feel like even though he really doesn’t do PDA, at home he’d definitely love to just rest his head on your small figure and have you play with his hair wanting to not give a single fuk in the world.
Or perhaps the other way around if you’d let him play with your hair. Just having you near him or in his arms puts his heart at ease.
Since both of you seem like very well educated beings, expect to talk a lot about certain philosophies or certain ideas that Giorno may have planned for the Mafia.
UGH the arguments don’t even feel like arguments they’re like little fun debates that turn out hella philosophical in a really go way though.
He loves how brutally honest you come off as. And admires that for you.
⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹
Downside of this relationship in my opinion is that he really doesn’t seem the type to be childish. Like he’s fine with you doing what you do, but don’t expect him to just suddenly become childish simply because I feel like he wouldn’t understand and he’d feel like he’d be letting down his guard and if he does and something bad happens to you...this poor boy’s heart. “Y/N what’s so fun about laser tag?” “EVERYTHING! Giorno, you should play with Mista and I. It’ll be fun I promise.” Then you and Mista just drag him with you.

Okay here me out. LASER TAG DATES or HANGOUTS!!!
Yes. LAsER TAG. First off who wouldn’t love that. I know I wouldn’t.
He’d love your extroverted personality and he’d find it hella cute how easily flustered you get it’s definitely going to be constant teasing.
Because you’re smart, expect little study dates not with him but Okuyasu. Cuz this boy and his good pal really aren’t the smartest in school.
Now dating him...if you ever wondered how hair down Josuke looked like, fear not.
This man would literally wear his hair down during study sessions at his house. While his mom is either out doing errands or is just chilling in the kitchen talking on the phone.
Speaking of hair I feel like you’d literally be the only one who can comment something about his hair in a bad way. He’d hate it and you two would argue about it. “JOSUKE! I LiteraLlY SAiD ThErE WaS a PiEcE oF HAiR sTiCkiNG oUT. NOw UnLoCk THE DOOR PLEASE!!” “I DON’T CARE! YOU INSULTED MY HAIR! So YoU GET OUT!”
On the brightside you wouldn’t die...Though in order to make up for it just a simple apology that’s sincere and he’d be falling for you. And if he’s still pissed off well it’s best to just leave him alone. And when you do expect hours passing by, but once he’s out the room or he comes back to you, he’d definitely give you back hugs burying his head on the crook of your neck and eventually he’d start patting your head which turns into him playing with it.
⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹
Downside to this relationship I feel like is how many stares you’d get in public. Unlike Gionro he’d definitely show PDA. Maybe not like kissing you in public, but definitely wrapping his arm around your shoulders. Or holding your hand. He’d also in my opinion be a little too sensitive with what you say no matter how nice you sound, he’d kinda take it to heart.

Do I need to explain myself? Okay Leone may not really be a romantic type in my eyes. (though I still love that man) at least he’d be dateable to an extent, but Ghiaccio?
Man...I don’t know how anyone would be lucky enough to get a certain match up with him.
As for you. Constant arguing. He’d most likely take everything to heart, but he wouldn’t cry. He’d yell. And I mean YELL. He shares the same (Japanese) va as Bakugo for christ sakes.
Every little thing you do, say, or act upon he’d just be pretty bitchy about it. Or if it’s not his problem he wouldn’t care. He’d just leave you be. “NOT MY PROBLEM! YOU FIX IT YOU AND YOUR LIFE.” “...what?...”
⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹⊹
Good thing about this relationship? Please you must be delusional. Where is the good side...hold on lemme just put on my thinking cap real quick.

It’s bold of Nolan to make such a thoroughly dense blockbuster. He assumes people will actually want to see L’origine du monde more than once so they can understand it properly, which some may not. This movie makes the chronology of Inception look as simplistic as tic-tac-toe. Ergo, it’s hard for me to give an accurate rating, without having seen it twice, as I’m still trying to figure out whether everything does indeed make sense. If it does, this movie is easily a 9 or 10. If it doesn’t, it’s a 6. It’s further not helped by the fact that the dialogue in the first 15 minutes of the movie is painfully hard to understand / hear. Either they were behind masks; they were practically mumbling; the sound effects were too loud; or all of the above. The exposition scenes are also waayyy too brief for something this complex — a problem also shared with Interstellar actually. (Interstellar had this minimalist exposition problem explaining Blight, where if you weren’t careful, you’d miss this one sentence / scene in the entire movie explaining that Blight was a viral bacteria: “Earth’s atmosphere is 80% nitrogen, we don’t even breathe nitrogen. Blight does, and as it thrives, our air gets less and less oxygen”). I guess it’s a Nolan quirk. Hopefully, a revision of the film audio sorts the sound mixing out. I do like the soundtrack, but it’s too loud initially. I liked all the actors. You think John Washington can’t act at first, but he can, and he grows on you as the film progresses. And Pattinson is his usual charming self. Elizabeth is a surprise treat. And so on. Its worth a watch either way. See it with subtitles if you can. And definitely don’t expect to fully understand whats going on the first time around. Its one hell of a complicated film. It will be very hard for an average viewer to gather all the information provided by this movie at the first watch. But the more you watch it, more hidden elements will come to light. And when you are able to put these hidden elements together. You will realize that this movie is just a “masterpiece” which takes the legacy of Christopher Nolan Forward If I talk about acting, Then I have to say that Robert Pattinson has really proved himself as a very good actor in these recent years. And I am sure his acting skills will increase with time. His performance is charming and very smooth. Whenever he is on the camera, he steals the focus John David Washington is also fantastic in this movie. His performance is electrifying, I hope to see more from him in the future. Other characters such as Kenneth Branagh, Elizabeth, Himesh Patel, Dimple Kapadia, Clémence Poésy have also done quite well. And I dont think there is a need to talk about Michael Caine Talking about Music, its awesome. I dont think you will miss Hans Zimmer’s score. Ludwig has done a sufficient job. There is no lack of good score in the movie Gotta love the editing and post production which has been put into this movie. I think its fair to say this Nolan film has focused more in its post production. The main problem in the movie is the sound mixing. Plot is already complex and some dialogues are very soft due to the high music score. It makes it harder to realize what is going on in the movie. Other Nolan movies had loud BGM too. But Audio and dialogues weren’t a problem My humble request to everyone is to please let the movie sink in your thoughts. Let your mind grasp all the elements of this movie. I am sure more people will find it better. Even those who think they got the plot. I can bet they are wrong. L’origine du monde is the long awaited new movie from Christopher Nolan. The movie that’s set to reboot the multiplexes post-Covid. It’s a manic, extremely loud, extremely baffling sci-fi cum spy rollercoaster that will please a lot of Nolan fan-boys but which left me with very mixed views. John David Washington (Denzel’s lad) plays “The Protagonist” — a crack-CIA field operative who is an unstoppable one-man army in the style of Hobbs or Shaw. Recruited into an even more shadowy organisation, he’s on the trail of an international arms dealer, Andrei Sator (Kenneth Branagh in full villain mode). Sator is bullying his estranged wife Kat (Elizabeth Debicki) over custody of their son (and the film unusually has a BBFC warning about “Domestic Abuse”). Our hero jets the world to try to prevent a very particular kind of Armageddon while also keeping the vulnerable and attractive Kat alive. This is cinema at its biggest and boldest. Nolan has taken a cinema ‘splurge’ gun, filled it with money, set it on rapid fire, removed the safety and let rip at the screen. Given that Nolan is famous for doing all of his ‘effects’ for real and ‘in camera’, some of what you see performed is almost unbelievable. You thought crashing a train through rush-hour traffic in “Inception” was crazy? You ain’t seen nothing yet with the airport scene! And for lovers of Chinooks (I must admit I am one and rush out of the house to see one if I hear it coming!) there is positively Chinook-p*rn on offer in the film’s ridiculously huge finale. The ‘inversion’ aspects of the story also lends itself to some fight scenes — one in particular in an airport ‘freeport’ — which are both bizarre to watch and, I imagine, technically extremely challenging to pull off. In this regard John David Washington is an acrobatic and talented stunt performer in his own right, and must have trained for months for this role. Nolan’s crew also certainly racked up their air miles pre-lockdown, since the locations range far and wide across the world. The locations encompassed Denmark, Estonia, India, Italy, Norway, the United Kingdom, and United States. Hoyte Van Hoytema’s cinematography is lush in introducing these, especially the beautiful Italian coast scenes. Although I did miss the David Arnold strings that would typically introduce these in a Bond movie: it felt like that was missing. The ‘timey-wimey’ aspects of the plot are also intriguing and very cleverly done. There are numerous points at which you think “Oh, that’s a sloppy continuity error” or “Shame the production design team missed that cracked wing mirror”. Then later in the movie, you get at least a dozen “Aha!” moments. Some of them (no spoilers) are jaw-droppingly spectacular. Perhaps the best twist is hidden in the final line of the movie. I only processed it on the way home. And so to the first of my significant gripes with L’origine du monde. The sound mix in the movie is all over the place. I’d go stronger than that… it’s truly awful (expletive deleted)! Nolan often implements Shakespeare’s trick of having characters in the play provide exposition of the plot to aid comprehension. But unfortunately, all of this exposition dialogue was largely incomprehensible. This was due to: the ear-splitting volume of the sound: 2020 movie audiences are going to be suffering from ‘L’origine du mondeis’! (LOL); the dialogue is poorly mixed with the thumping music by Ludwig Göransson (Wot? No Hans Zimmer?); a large proportion of the dialogue was through masks of varying description (#covid-appropriate). Aaron Taylor-Johnson was particularly unintelligible to my ears. Overall, watching this with subtitles at a special showing might be advisable! OK, so I only have a PhD in Physics… but at times I was completely lost as to the intricacies of the plot. It made “Inception” look like “The Tiger Who Came to Tea”. There was an obvious ‘McGuffin’ in “Inception” — — (“These ‘dream levels’… how exactly are they architected??…. “Don’t worry… they’ll never notice”. And we didn’t!) In “L’origine du monde” there are McGuffins nested in McGuffins. So much of this is casually waved L’origine du monde as “future stuff… you’re not qualified” that it feels vaguely condescending to the audience. At one point Sator says to Kat “You don’t know what’s going on, do you?” and she shakes her head blankly. We’re right with you there luv! There are also gaps in the storyline that jar. The word “L’origine du monde”? What does it mean. Is it just a password? I’m none the wiser. The manic pace of L’origine du monde and the constant din means that the movie gallops along like a series of disconnected (albeit brilliant) action set pieces. For me, it has none of the emotional heart of the Cobb’s marriage problems from “Inception” or the father/daughter separation of “Interstellar”. In fact, you barely care for anyone in the movie, perhaps with the exception of Kat. It’s a talented cast. As mentioned above, John David Washington is muscular and athletic in the role. It’s a big load for the actor to carry in such a tent-pole movie, given his only significant starring role before was in the excellent BlacKkKlansman. But he carries it off well. A worthy successor to Gerard Butler and Jason Statham for action roles in the next 10 years. This is also a great performance by Robert Pattinson, in his most high-profile film in a long time, playing the vaguely alcoholic and Carré-esque support guy. Pattinson’s Potter co-star Clemence Poésy also pops up — rather more un-glam that usual — as the scientist plot-expositor early in the movie. Nolan’s regular Michael Caine also pops up. although the 87-year old legend is starting to show his age: His speech was obviously affected at the time of filming (though nice try Mr Nolan in trying to disguise that with a mouth full of food!). But in my book, any amount of Caine in a movie is a plus. He also gets to deliver the best killer line in the film about snobbery! However, it’s Kenneth Branagh and Elizabeth Debicki that really stand out. They were both fabulous, especially when they were bouncing off each other in their marital battle royale. So, given this was my most anticipated movie of the year, it’s a bit of a curate’s egg for me. A mixture of being awe-struck at times and slightly disappointed at others. It’s a movie which needs a second watch, so I’m heading back today to give my ear drums another bashing! And this is one where I reserve the right to revisit my rating after that second watch… it’s not likely to go down… but it might go up. (For the full graphical review, check out One Mann’s Movies on t’interweb and Facebook. Thanks.) As this will be non-spoiler, I can’t say too much about the story. However, what I can is this: L’origine du monde’s story is quite dynamic in the sense that you won’t understand it till it wants you to. So, for the first half, your brain is fighting for hints and pieces to puzzle together the story. It isn’t until halfway through the movie that L’origine du monde invites you to the fantastic storytelling by Christopher Nolan. Acting is beyond phenomenal, and I’d be genuinely surprised if neither Robert Pattinson nor John David Washington doesn’t receive an Oscar nomination for best actor. It’s also hard not to mention how good Elizabeth Debicki and Aaron Johnson both are. All around, great acting, and the dialogue amps up the quality of the movie. The idea of this movie is damn fascinating, and while there are films that explore time-travelling, there’s never been anything quite like this. It has such a beautiful charm and for the most part, explains everything thoroughly. It feels so much more complex than any form of time-travelling we’ve seen, and no less could’ve been expected from Nolan. Oh my lord, the score for this film fits so perfectly. Every scene that’s meant to feel intense was amped by a hundred because of how good the score was. Let me just say though, none of them will be found iconic, but they fit the story and scenes so well. In the end, I walked out, feeling very satisfied. Nevertheless, I do have issues with the film that I cannot really express without spoiling bits of the story. There are definitely little inconsistencies that I found myself uncovering as the story progressed. However, I only had one issue that I found impacted my enjoyment. That issue was understanding some of the dialogue. No, not in the sense that the movie is too complicated, but more that it was hard to make out was being said at times. It felt like the movie required subtitles, but that probably was because, at a time in the film, there was far too much exposition. Nevertheless, I loved this film, I’ll be watching it at least two more times, and I think most of you in this group will enjoy it. I definitely suggest watching it in theatres if possible, just so you can get that excitement. (4/5) & (8.5/10) for those that care about number scores. At first, I want to ask Christopher Nolan one question, HOW THE HELL YOU DID THIS? Seriously I want to have an answer, How did he write such as this masterpiece! How did he get this complicated, fabulous and creative idea? What is going on in his mind? The story is written and directed perfectly, the narration style was absolutely unique. I have no idea how can anyone direct such as this story, that was a huge challenge, and as usual Nolan gave us a masterpiece that we’ll put beside (Memento), (Inception) and (Interstellar) The movie is so fast-paced in a good way, there was no boring moment. The chemistry between John David Washington and Robert Pattinson was great and funny and both of their performance was really good. Elizabeth Debicki performance was the best in the movie because she had the chance to show her acting abilities and she cached up that chance and showed us an A level acting. The music wasn’t unique and distinct as the music of Interstellar for example and I think this movie needed the touch of Hans Zimmer, I’m not saying that Ludwig Göransson failed but Hans Zimmer in another level. If there was something I’d say that I didn’t like it in the movie would it be that Nolan discarded any set up or characters backgrounds except Elizabeth Debicki dramatic story but it wasn’t that bad for me, I didn’t care about that, the exciting story didn’t give me the chance to focus on it. But the actual problem was the third act, it was really complicated and I got lost and I convinced myself to discard the questions that were in my head and enjoy the well-made action sequences and Elizabeth Debicki performance. I think this kind of movie that gets better with a second and third watch. I honestly don’t quite know where to begin with L’origine du monde. I love Christopher Nolan’s work but I have never seen a more complicated film (and I understood Memento). After nearly three hours, I came L’origine du monde from L’origine du monde not knowing myself, my mind reduced to nothing more than piles of ash. Was there time travel involved? Hmm, there was definitely something about time inversion. I mean, does Nolan even understand what he wrote? Look, I give credit to the director because he’s one of the few directors left who knows how to create a compelling and intelligent blockbuster. L’origine du monde is full of Nolan trademarks — the gratuitous Michael Caine cameo, a loud, really loud score, complete with stunning cinematography and slickly inventive action set-pieces. This time around however, Nolan has finally managed to ‘out-Nolan’ himself: the palindromic plot, whilst creatively ambitious, is simply far too complicated for its own good. L’origine du monde is overlong, overstuffed, pretentious and too exhausting to comprehend in its entirety — it makes Inception and Interstellar look like Peppa Pig by comparison. I’m aware of the technical wizardry and creative mastery in this film and lord knows I’ll have to watch this again. For those who want a puzzle, L’origine du monde at least provides a unique cinematic experience. But to actually enjoy solving it Nolan wants you to work

I was tagged by the amazing @beckiboos! ✨✨✨
Rules: Choose any three fandoms (in random order) and answer the questions, then tag 10 people you wanna know better (Let’s say that last part is optional) Three Fandoms:
Fallout 4
Dragon Age
Skyrim
The first character you loved:
Paladin Danse - The moment I saw him in power armour firing lasers I was impressed, and I hoped he could be a companion! I took Haylen at her word that he was a good man and travelling with him proved that! It was also nice to meet another friendly group after Preston’s!
Cullen - I’ve always played a mage and my mage warden thought he was adorable, my mage Hawke was a bit salty but overall okay with him and my Inquisitor fell in love with him! Throughout all the games I was hoping for the chance and was so happy to not only romance but marry and adopt a mabari with him in DAI!
Farkas - He’s a big, strong warrior with a gentle heart! Also a werewolf at first - what’s not to love? XD
The character you never expected to love so much
Gage - He’s a raider, while Nora’s the General and Sentinel. She’s moral, he’s not and he doesn’t seem her type at all - but there’s still chemistry there and even when they’re just friends, leaving aside their very differing methods at times, the pair get along! I was heartbroken when she had to kill him during Nuka World, but currently rewriting with a friend so XD
Sera - Not going to lie, when I first met her I thought she was the height of annoying. I didn’t like the way she spoke in riddles and didn’t take her anywhere, but when I gave her the chance I just fell in love - she’s hilarious, knows how to have fun and honestly I agree with her so much on sticking it to the nobles!
Miraak - At first he was just a villain you’ve got to beat, but when I realised he and Danse share the same VA I looked more into him and the cut content and - yeah. Would totally have sided with him over Mora if I could! He’s a lot more pitiable, not to mention he’d have made Marcurio look humble if he was a companion! I also headcanon he looks like Danse now too so XD
The character you relate to the most
Danse - I totally understand the burying your feelings part and I just really resonate with him. He might take things too seriously at times, but his heart is in the right place! His awkwardness in romance also rivals mine so yeah!
Cassandra - Same reasons as Danse and maybe even more so! XD She’s just amazing and I love how despite her serious personality, she’s always loved and wanted romance and is loyal and there for her friends, plus she changes her stance as she learns things like she comes to befriend Cole and regrets what happened between her and Varric! Seriously love her!
Maybe Vilkas - idk I don’t think the characters were written with any real depth in game as a lot of it is radiant dialogue or a couple of lines, so I can’t really say!  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The character you’d slap
JUSTIN. AYO. ENDLESSLY.
Arl Howe - He had no regrets whatsoever for everything he did in DAO and even when he’s dying and he says “I deserved more” I’m just like “more pain?” >:(
Elenwen - she fronts the Thalmor interests in Skyrim, need I say more?
Three favorite characters (in order of preference):
Paladin Danse, Sole Survivor, Preston Garvey
Cullen Rutherford, Cassandra Pentaghast, Varric Tethras
Neloth, Fralia, Marcurio
A character you didn’t like at first but do now:
Cait - She was loud, violent, into chems and against being charitable which is how I play. Then I learned her past and literally cried and I would seriously die for her she’s been through so much crap but she’s so loyal once you’ve helped her out!
Sera - went from couldn’t stand her to thinking she’s brilliant!
Miraak!
Three OTPs:
Nora Hart x Paladin Danse, Sosu/OC x Danse, Kaelyn Prescott x Nate Prescott (the Prescott’s belong to @eluvisen and in my head at least are practically canon! XD)
Trevelyan x Cullen Rutherford, Solavellan, Adoribull
Miraak x Dragonborn, Marcurio x Dragonborn, Fralia x Dragonborn
Tagging: @eluvisen @mrninjapineapple @ariejul @sociallyacceptablemadness @marvilus73 @lenkachi @zacklover24 @solesurvivorkat @lothrilzul @micotrash @ronqueesha @charomiami @maxrev and anyone who’d like to do this! ✨

Spider-Man Homecoming Thoughts
People may not want to read if you haven’t seen Spider-Man Homecoming yet, but I’ve just seen the movie last night and I’ve gotta say, wow! I thought it was a brilliant movie! I’m not saying it was perfect in every way, but there were so many things they got right this time and I am so happy they seem to have done a good job of rebooting the Spider-Man franchise.  Anyway, this is just me sharing some of my thoughts on the movie.
*SPOILER ALERT*
1. Tom Holland as Spider as Peter/Spidey Perfect casting choice and great acting from him all around. Tom’s Peter is exactly how I imagine a young Spidey to be. He isn’t obnoxious, too much of a nerd or too cool (like Garfield was), but he’s is still an introverted kid, kind of nerdy, not to mention cute, adorable and most importantly, relatable. Prior to this movie, I always thought Toby Maguire did it best, but Tom is definitely the one true Peter Parker for me now (other than Drake Bell as my fave Spidey VA but that’s another somewhat controversial rant in itself). I loved how Tom really captured the spirit of a young Peter. He gave an incredibly realistic take on the character as being a young, scared kid underneath it all with a huuuge responsibility, but he is still having fun with his powers and reacting as you would expect a kid to do. I actually found his performance very credible.  One question, though. Did Peter have Spidey sense in this movie? I don’t recall it being showcased or mentioned.
2. Marisa Tomei as Aunt May - I am a huge fan of Ultimate Aunt May, so it goes without saying that Marisa Tomei’s Aunt May is my favourite version too precisely because she is shown here to be a character who has her own life which doesn’t just revolve around Peter. It was a good casting choice.
3. Zendeya as “Michelle”. For the record, I really liked Zendeya’s character. Loved her tomboy look and she had a lot of sass and one liners in the movie. She was generally a great character. However, I did have some issues with this character, particularly surrounding what she reveals at the end of the movie. Okay, so she is called Michelle Jones which, I get, is “MJ” for short. Fair enough. But if Michelle is “MJ”, then why not just call her Mary Jane? I wouldn’t have minded if they had had just done what they did with Flash who is obviously a very different take on his character, but at least they still called him “Flash”. Michelle’s personality could have easily fit with a cooler and nerdier Mary Jane, similar to kind of how she is in Ultimate Spider-Man comics and cartoon, so I don’t know why they had to invent this “Michelle” character, who is the “MJ” of this universe. Like I said, I don’t dislike their take on the character. I’d take her to Kirstin Dunst’s Mary Jane any day of the week, but why “Michelle?”
4. Robert Downey Jr as Ironman and Tony and Peter’s relationship – Robert Downley Jr was great (as you’d expect), but it goes without saying that having Ironman and his relationship with Spidey feature in this movie was one of the highlights. Now that Peter is finally in the MCU universe, we get to see the dymanic between them on the big screen and it is perfect. I’m a big IronSpider fan and this movie did not disappoint. There was so many great Tony + Peter moments to appreciate such as the awkward “hug” scene, Tony giving Peter a lecture after the Statten Island Ferry incident and Tony comparing himself to his own father while lecturing Peter. There were so many other cute moments between them and so many feels, needless to say I love the Tony/Peter dynamic of Tony as the mentor/older male figure who pretends he’s too cool to care and Peter as the teen who idolises and wants to be like him. At first I was disappointed that Peter did not make his own suit, but actually I can now see how it made more sense that Ironman was involved. At least Peter still made his own web fluid. It was more realistic, I guess. But yeah, loved seeing Ironman and Spidey in this movie.
5. Michael Keaton as the vulture. We actually have a great bad guy for once in Michael Keaton. Having a strong villain is just as important as having a strong hero and this is something the other Spider-Man movies have previously lacked (with maybe the exception of Otto in Spider-Man 2). Usually in Spider-Man movies, they either try to cram too many villains in at once (here’s looking at you Spider-Man 3) or the villains are just plan forgetful (I honestly cannot remember who the villain was in Amazing Spider-Man). Keaton, on the other hand, did a great job. There is also that great scene where the twist is revealed and the characters come face to face. You can actually see the fear and shock on Peter’s face when he realises who The Vulture is outside of costume. When I was at uni, my tutor (a professional writer who writes scripts for various UK TV shows) once said how in every great action movie, there always have at least one scene where the hero and villain come face to face off the battlefield, where there is a moment of understanding between them.  This really was one of those great moments which made this movie so much better because of it.
6. Other supporting characters, such as Ned Leeds, Flash and Liz – I felt the supporting cast was mostly good. My initial worry is that Ned was too much like Ganke. To be honest, I still think that’s the case, but I can see how he was a nice addition to the movie and a funny character who was actually useful to the plot. I’ll be honest about Flash. I hated this take on Flash, mainly because I have always associated Flash as being a jock but then, as it has been pointed out, this movie is trying to move away from stereotypes like the “big dumb jock” and “preppy girl.” Liz was fine as the beautiful but smart girl who has depth. I’ll be honest, I do not like Liz as Peter’s love interest in any universe, but she played her role well enough. Flash…well… I’m still not sure about Flash to be honest, but I see what the writers we’re trying to do and I’ll give them a nod for that. But the true star of supporting characters was Happy!! Can we talk about HAPPY?!!!
7. Conclusion
Overall I thought it was well written, well acted and entertaining as far as superhero movies go. It has it’s flaws, but it is so much better than the mess that was Amazing Spider-Man (in my opinion) and it provides a much more up-to-date version of the character which was needed. There are some things I might have liked to see, like maybe a quick cameo from J K Simmons as J Jonah Jamerson, even if they had just flashed his face flash on the screen like they do in The Ultimate Spider-Man Cartoon.  I for one am glad we didn’t get a repeat of the same story with Uncle Ben and the Osborns. It will be interesting to see where the series goes next.

my anime boston recap
i told a few people i’d write this, so here. warning, it’s long as fuck.
rebecca black - friday
while waiting for artists’ alley to open, i sat in a corner and watched people go by and saw a group cosplaying the main characters from the extremely underrecognized game the arcana, which was awesome and i totally would have asked for a picture but i’m way too shy. even though i’ve asked cosplayers for pictures before but i seem to have regressed in that sense...
i also saw (and this happened throughout the con) a bunch of hot, fit, really thin girls, which made me feel gay (as expected) but also really envious and sad and insecure about my body. cause i wish i looked more like them.
i also saw two girls cosplaying snow halation!honoka and kotori from love live, and the honoka had a giant honk nesoberi that i totally envy, and then right afterward a hate na heartbeat!eli and nozomi came around the corner and they were the coolest. i wish i’d had the guts to ask them for a picture too.
finally i went to artists’ alley and i got to buy a print from one of my favorite persona 5 fan artists but unfortunately she didn’t have the postcard set i wanted to buy. BUT right across was another fan artist whose stuff i really like so i bought a BUNCH of her prints - one of each of the p5 girls for me, and an extra makoto for my friend - and she came over to thank me and we chatted a little and it was nice. i am fucking determined to befriend some of these people and now at least one of them knows who i am.
i went to a panel on “fandom as coping” presented by a social worker which was really cool. she talked about how even though she’s a social worker, she still went through a severely suicidal period this past year and survived because of yuri on ice. i left partway through because then she turned it over to the audience to share our stories and i didn’t need to hear from a bunch of people talking about bad things that had happened to them.
the next thing i went to, after hanging around the vendors for a while, was tara platt’s (mitsuru and elizabeth from persona 3) q&a. she was really cool, and i actually managed to ask her a question, which was which one she preferred. (she said she can’t choose a favorite, but had more fun with elizabeth.)
i went to a presentation by sunrise, the studio that made love live among other things, but it was boring and i left early again because they were talking about gundam and other action stuff i don’t care about.
i’d planned on going to johnny yong bosch’s (makoto from free, kitamura from toradora, yu and adachi from p4) q&a, but it had a hella long line and it was obvious i wasn’t going to get in since the room wasn’t going to accommodate that many people. so i went over to a panel greg ayres (kaoru from ouran, nagisa from free, monokuma from the danganronpa anime) was doing on “it gets better.” come to find out he is openly bi! and is good friends with his ex who’s a trans woman and confronted her family about misgendering her! he is my new fav ngl and a far cry from hikaru’s va whom i met at tora-con a few years ago and was kind of an ego. it was a conversation sort of panel and we talked about a lot of stuff around queerness and bullying. i had to leave that one early too, but wished i could have stayed for the whole thing. also, there was a girl across the aisle from me who mentioned she was trans, and at one point i happened to catch her looking at me, and i think she was checking me out! sadly, i did not run into her again.
the reason i had to leave early was to get johnny’s autograph. he was really cool and i totes wish i could’ve gone to his q&a. since i don’t actually have any free! or toradora! or p4 merch, i had him sign my p3/p5 dancing game since it did at least come with p4 dancing as a free download. he took his daughter with him to the con which i find adorable though i have to wonder how bored she was sitting there for an hour and a half while he signed autographs.
katy perry - last friday night
at this point, i had a couple hours to kill, so i walked out to newbury comics in the hopes they’d have the bananarama vinyl reissues from the british record store day. they didn’t (though weirdly they did have the shakespears sister one), but they had kacey musgraves’ golden hour on sale, and i’ve been waffling on buying that for ages, so i finally snapped it up. then i went back to the mall where the con (sort of) was and got some godiva ice cream, which was even more overpriced than you’d expect but still very good.
so my last agenda item for the day was yuri lowenthal’s (makoto/minato from p3, yosuke from p4) q&a, which tara crashed because they’re married, which i love because it means that mitsuru is irl the canon waifu. once again i managed to ask a question, which was which p3 girl he’d like to have minato end up with, which made everyone laugh, and of course he said “i want to preserve my marriage, so either mitsuru or elizabeth.”
then i went home and felt like death.
i don’t know any songs that have “saturday morning” in the title
i took an uber to the con for saturday because the T was being replaced with a shuttle bus and i decided i’d rather pay $17 each way for a 15-minute trip than $2.50 each way for a 90-minute trip.
i went to a panel on “idols in anime” that was kind of interesting but i didn’t take much away from it, other than that i should maybe watch revue starlight. but then i went to a panel on “diversity in the magical girl genre” that was really cool. it was hosted by a queer latina woman and she talked about racial, gender, sexual, and ability diversity. it was interesting because she has a very negative view of yuuki yuuna, which i can certainly understand but don’t really share. but it was a great panel and i feel like i learned a lot. one neat idea she had was that what comes across as queerbaiting (or whatever-baiting) to western audiences can be really progressive representation in japan, and vice versa.
after that i went to another panel on “magical girl fashion” and literally got up and left because i couldn’t stand how wrong the presenter was.
i’d missed out both days on the free autograph passes for yuri and tara, so i went to their paid session, which to make a long story short was an absolute fucking disaster, and i ended up making a complaint, during which i cried in front of the con’s assistant director. so there’s something i can check off my bucket list. i also met the director, who came over to reassure me they were fixing things and said, “i keep saying i need a machete to take off people’s heads this year.” so obviously i immediately liked her! in the end, i did get their autographs (on the same p3d/p5d game) for fifty fucking dollars... i’d been expecting more like thirty. and they didn’t even personalize them. sad trombone noise. they were nice though.
then i rushed over to the free autographs and saw kara edwards (chihiro in the danganronpa anime) and had her autograph a wall scroll i’d bought from a vendor. i wish i could’ve gone to her q&a because she seemed sweet.
and right after THAT, i got in line for tara sands (a bunch of pokemon) and had her sign a manga volume i bought for my friend. she was also awesome and i really wish i could have gone to her q&a because we had this exchange:
me: this is for my friend who’s a huge bulbasaur fan
sands: oh, you’re such a good friend!
me: i know. and i won’t let them forget it.
sands: [laughs] that’s good! keep it up, i like your style!
i then went to greg’s q&a, which was fun. he mentioned that while recording the audio commentary for ouran, caitlin glass (haruhi) and todd haberkorn (hikaru) got really uncomfortable during one of the twincest scenes and started talking about anything else they could so they wouldn’t have to talk about the twincest, and in the commentary you can just hear greg laugh a little because he’d made himself laugh by thinking of saying “i just think it’s hot” but kept himself from saying it out loud. the hero we deserve tbh.
whigfield - saturday night (i actually don’t like that song btw)
at this point, it was time for the 18+ panels to start, so i went to one where yuri, tara platt, lisa ortiz (idk her), and billy kametz (same) did in-character readings of various scripts. they did a couple of star wars ones which obviously did nothing for me, except that tara did bb-8 in a christopher walken voice, which was fucking hysterical. the other one i remember was lisa doing a southern belle voice narrating the notebook, with yuri as sasuke (i think) as noah, and billy as lelouch (?) as ally. but the best one, of course, was the last one, which was the iocane powder scene from the princess bride, performed by yuri as spider-cop (iirc) as the sicilian and tara as elizabeth as westley. it was AMAZING.
then i went to greg’s 18+ panel where he recounted risqué stories like when his mom wanted to watch an anime where his character has anal sex. i remember it being hilarious but unfortunately don’t remember any specifics other than him affectionately calling his lawyer the C-word and a story about beating up an asshat in the o’hare airport after asshat broke a jigglypuff ornament his friend made him.
blondie - sunday girl
so having stayed out past 11:30 for greg’s panel the night before, and forgetting to take melatonin before bed... i actually couldn’t wake up sunday morning so didn’t end up going back to the con at all. which was really sad and disappointing as it meant i missed getting greg’s autograph, a panel on autism in anime fandom, and the voice actor roundtable panel, all of which i really wanted. so after finally getting up at 2:30pm i spent the rest of the day super depressed and mad at myself and just sad and disappointed.
the end.

Persona 5 - A Review
I should probably preface this by saying that the screenshots I’m using for this review are not my own, since Atlus has extremely strict policies about sharing footage of this game; PS4 Share features are completely unusable. The ones I do have, I got off of Google.
I should also probably mention that this is my first Persona game; I never played the previous titles, so I’m not biased towards the franchise in any way and I had no idea what to expect going into it.
I was originally pretty iffy about getting this game, despite my love for JRPGs. I think I was a little worried about the micromanaging aspects and the deadline system. After Lightning Returns, I sorta avoided games with deadlines and limited time since I didn’t want to deal with the anxiety that comes with it. I like playing games at my own pace, and I also like to completely see EVERYTHING a game has to offer, and games with a limited time system obviously means you’ll have to miss out on certain things unless you follow a strict point-by-point guide that somehow lets you do all the things. From what I saw of this game, it seemed like it would be stressful having to manage social stats, relationships with people, a school life, etc, all while being a magical thief that literally steals hearts.
So yeah, this game was definitely an impulse buy for me and, truth be told, I don’t regret it for a second. I got totally taken for a ride.
Tumblr media
The first thing you should know if you plan on playing this game is that you need to have a lot of free time on your hands. This game is such a time sink that I basically lost track of the days. Once you’re in, you are IN. You immediately become attached to these characters and basically live out your life as this unnamed protagonist, raising various social stats such as knowledge and charm to name a few, maintaining strong bonds with the people around you, tackling high school life including getting pop quizzes and doing exams. It can be pretty overwhelming the first time around, at least probably if you’re a newcomer to the franchise like me. I even got a game over very early in the game cause I procrastinated too much and was met with the deadline. I overestimated how much time I actually had to do the stuff I wanted to. It takes a while to get into the groove of this game, but once you know where everything is, you start planning what you want to do, which skills you wanna develop and people you want to spend time with. It can be a lot to deal with, but it does feel rewarding when you max things out and learn to become more efficient.
The story, for a JRPG, is pretty impressive. You play a regular young Joe Shmoe who got unfairly tried for standing up to a shady powerful man and is now labeled a delinquent. He gets sent under the care of a cafe owner for probation and becomes a student in Shujin Academy where he ends up stumbling upon some weird shit, forms friendships with various other young misfits and they form the Phantom Thieves, a group of kids who seek to change the hearts of criminals and horrible adults so they’ll grow a conscience, own up to their horribleness and redeem themselves. That’s all I want to say about the story since I don’t want Atlus to sue me for posting spoilers. But like I said, I was extremely impressed by the story in this game, especially being a JRPG. I say that because, let’s be honest, JRPG stories are normally very predictable and endlessly cheesy. Of course, this game has those moments where it’s so clear how Japanese and Anime the game is from how the characters speak and whatnot, but there were a lot of points in the story where I genuinely had no idea what to expect and certain plot twists I didn’t see coming.
Not to mention pretty much all the characters were very interesting and likable that it’s so easy to form attachments to each of them. Well, except for the protagonist, of course. I’m not sure what it is with JRPGs but it’s very often in games like this where the protagonist is completely mute and not even the slightest bit interesting. Maybe it’s so that it makes it easy for you to put yourself in their shoes, but I was never a fan of that. I prefer protagonists that have their own voice and distinct personality, so I personally wouldn’t mind if more Japanese games started taking a page from Western games when it comes to this kind of stuff rather than just have milquetoast, blank protagonists. That’s one gripe I have in regards to the story elements. Another big one is how empty and meaningless a lot of the dialogue choices really are. Oftentimes you’d see two or three options that basically consist of different versions of saying the same thing. And as far as I can tell, the options don’t really have any lasting effects either. If you’re a dick to somebody, they won’t remember you were a dick. A lot of the options also give you the illusion of choice; the game makes you think that there’s a decision to be made when really there’s only one outcome anyway. These things are basically my biggest problems with the game; it lacked weight when it came to the protagonist and the dialogue system. (Oh yeah, you also can’t be gay, which I was a little salty about but eh, I guess I’ll let it slide. It probably would’ve been too much to expect anyways.)
Tumblr media
But enough of that, let’s get to the good part; the combat system. You have no idea how much I adore turn-based combat in JRPGs. I haven’t had this much fun with a JRPG since World of Final Fantasy and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, which are pretty similar to Persona 5 now that I think about it. I loved the hell out of the combat in this game and also the Persona collecting and creating. It did a great job of teaching you how everything worked and letting you differentiate between the skill types, Persona types, etc. Unlike the real-world aspects of the game that overwhelmed me, I was able to digest the combat system pretty quickly. Fusing Personas to create new, more powerful ones is also a lot of fun, I find. I could spend an hour or two just in the Velvet Room alone fusing and strengthening Personas, filling up the Persona Compendium (gotta catch ‘em all, after all). So yeah, honestly I don’t think I have anything bad to say about the combat system. It’s extremely enjoyable and easy to get used to.
By the way, I have to say that this game is one of the most visually intriguing games I’ve ever played. Stylish is honestly the perfect word to describe it as a whole. Everything is constantly moving and the transitions between battles especially are just cool as fuck. The dungeon designs and especially the Persona designs are something to behold. It all just looks sooooo damn good. I’m always so excited when making new Personas cause I can’t wait to see what they look like. I also get very excited whenever it’s time to go to a new dungeon--or Palaces, as they’re called in-game. Each one has its own unique setting and theme depending on the person in charge of it. It was all just so.... cool. I know I sound lame right now, but I swear to god I don’t know what else to say about it, I was just so thoroughly impressed by this game’s style and aesthetic.
Oh yeah, and I rarely talk about the music in games, but the soundtrack meshes perfectly with the overall look and feel of the game. I found myself humming and singing along to the songs after a while, and they got stuck in my head afterward. As far as the English voice acting goes, I also liked it for the most part. Of course there are some cringey parts, that comes with the territory, but overall I think the VAs did really well. I think I recognized a couple of their voices, too.
Tumblr media
I spent around 80 hours in my first playthrough of the game, and with all the stuff that carries over from that save data to a New Game+, my experience with this game is far from over cause there’s still so much I haven’t seen from it even despite the amount of time I’ve spent on it. It is a HUUUGE game with a lot of content, so you definitely have to keep that in mind before buying.
I think I’ll give this game a solid 8/10. Next to World of Final Fantasy, I think this is the best JRPG I’ve played in a long while. I do have some problems with it, and it probably isn’t for everyone; if you’re not really a fan of JRPGs then I’m not sure how much you’d enjoy it. It’s not as action-oriented as, say, Final Fantasy XV, so if you’re looking for something more FFXV-ish then it would probably be wise not to get this game. But if you love turn-based combat, monster collecting and micromanaging the life of a high-schooler, this is right up your alley. All I can say is that this won’t be my last Persona game, that’s for sure.

Araceli was always the sky of her father’s life — Not his sun, but his sky. Infinite, ever changing but always reminding him of home. His sky. His cielo. His everything. It is a shame, then, that Araceli’s mother never shared the same opinion or appreciation for their daughter. So much so, in fact, that after giving birth to the little girl, she decreeted she did not want her or any part of her to be involved in her life. You see, Catalina Ponce had her career all planned out — Television first, telenovelas after telenovelas of playing the antagonist until one day she would play the villain. And then movie deals would come. Organizations would want to work with her, she would have her own clothes line and design shoes for a famous creator, and in a bang launch her perfume when people would least expect it. And then more movies, more tv shows, more of the same. Her name would become a brand that people would want to buy. And an infant child had no part in her career — It would make her stuck in television shows for ever.
This was alright by Felipe. Though he had cared for Catalina, his childhood best friend and first love, he’d hoped fame would not be more important to her than family. Quickly proven wrong when she fell pregnant, he was happy living his own life with his daughter — One that Catalina would not have any part in. So he moved back to Mendoza, got a humble job in the family restaurant and taught his daughter the values of hard work from a young age. At ten, Araceli already made the cutest waitress in their little family restaurant. And yes, money was tight, but so long as his daughter had clothes on her back and friends at school, Felipe was doing his job alright. All was well.
***
“You can’t keep her from me! I am her mother!” Screams. And screams, and screams, and screams – A woman’s voice, foreign to Araceli’s ears and scaring her enough for her to take refuge on the other side of her small bedroom. And then a tall man in a suit swiftly entered, closed the door behind him softly — A swift contrast between the argument that went on two doors down, in the living room of the small apartment. She was thirteen. She should not have been scared and yet — And yet the man in the suit sensed her fears. “Araceli? I’m a friend of your mother’s.” His first words — the first words anyone had said to her ever since the strange woman (her mother?) had entered in the flat demanding Araceli be handed to her and threatening to go to court (and whatever this was about, Araceli knew her father could not afford court). “I don’t have a mother. What do you want?” “I know you’re angry. But your mother — Catalina — is here because she really needs your help. She wants the best for you too, of course, which is why you’d get paid for your work, and ——” “Paid?” A swallow, and Araceli suddenly tries standing up a little bit straighter, make herself appear more important and knowledgeable than her thirteen year old self actually was. Getting paid would be nice. It would help her dad keep the restaurant open.
***
Where life with Felipe had been humble, life with Catalina was filled with opulence, talk show interviews, and that big picture of her, her husband and two young children (and that life she’d led without Araceli) that was filling in the entrance of their house in Buenos Aires. She’d done it. Well — most of it, anyway. Thirteen years into her first child’s life and Araceli was an acclaimed actress who’d won awards for her performances both in the country and internationally (her latest movie, Lo que el tiempo nos dejó, had been critically praised by European and American media as ‘one of the best foreign films of the decade’). She’d started producing, too, putting her money to good use, and had released a make-up line which failed a couple of months afterwards (the demographic watching her shows was simply not that into buying make-up made by a celebrity). Some of her television shows had started exporting abroad, and she’d needed someone to play her daughter in the newest one, titled ‘Vecinos y enemigos’ and extremely loosely based on Romeo and Juliet.
It was just one telenovela after all, right? And then, Araceli would be back safe in Mendoza, where she belonged, using her money to help her father’s restaurant that would soon enough be hers, too. Except that the success of Vecinos y enemigos hit her hard — harder than she expected. Her mother’s friend (really, her manager, and now Araceli’s) had warned her about this, but nothing could truly prepare the teenager for this. She divided the medias (and, in turn, the country).
A lot of people loved her quirky character, praising Catalina for working with her family even on the small screen (they thought her cute, adorable, her relationship with her mother seemed ‘so genuine and trusting it showed in every scene’). There was nothing genuine or trusting in how Catalina saw and treated her daughter. But nobody needed to know that if Araceli wanted to get paid, so for the television interviews, she smiled and said ‘Well I missed my mother very much before this.’ It wasn’t technically a lie, but it was not true, either. She’d missed the idea of a mother, never Catalina.
The rest of the people thought her bland. She didn’t know how to act. And, obviously, what more could you expect from someone who’s mother got her the job? This kid wouldn’t go far. Had you seen how small she seemed, this couldn’t work great on camera. And ‘I don’t know. I really don’t like mean comments, but they’re not going to stop me from doing what I love.’ Everybody thought she meant acting. Araceli just wanted to go back home.
Yet telenovelas came and went. In the midst of it, her mother got full custody and decided it would be best to become her daughter’s agent — to keep it in the family. Araceli was a young, awkward teenager that other young, awkward teenagers easily related to — And with tv magic, she looked approachable enough that you wanted to be her friend but not enough that you thought you could actually be her friend. She was a hit, a success, a brand — Everything Catalina had hoped for herself. And then Catalina hit the motherload when Araceli was cast in ‘La Alma Frente Al Sol’.
@almafrentealsol: Quién de Alma o Rosario te va a robar el corazón en este nuevo capítulo ? Enterate hoy !
La Alma Frente Al Sol was the biggest hit of Araceli’s career. She played Alma, young teenager with a (terribly researched and completely inaccurately depicted) case of memory loss who tried to figure out her life and who she wanted to be, trying to decipher truth from lies and family from opportunists. Alma was a singer, so obviously a singing career was added to the contract.
La Alma Frente Al Sol ran for two seasons, with complimentary album and world tour for each season, and exported to twenty-six countries, with a Mexican and Chilean remake under way. And, since Catalina had been credited as producer and owned the rights to the show, when news came about of a potential adaptation by ABC for the United States, her one demand was that her daughter would also star in the American version, shot in Los Angeles. And queue the singing career in English.
And, don’t get her wrong — Araceli loved acting. She loved singing. She loved performing in front of an audience. She did not love what her mother made her do, and how little control she had on her career as an artist. Whenever she brought this up, Araceli was quickly dismissed. Mother knows best. And her father seemed so far away in pretty Mendoza. They barely even talked anymore. (Well. They talked. But it was nothing like before. He felt miles and miles and miles away, and she worried if she ever stopped her career and stopped being able to send him money, he would be entirely disappointed in her. Araceli did not want to disappoint her dad. Not ever.)
@TeenVogue: All the secrets behind ‘Sunshine Soul’, the new tv show that has us all rave! Plus, interview with its young protagonist Araceli Giménez.
Her salvation — Her little pieces of sunshine in this life — came in two.
First, her mother relented and allowed her to study drama at UCLA and take singing lessons. It would set a good example to young girls to see their role model studying and being a good person.
Second, she was dating the most amazing, kindest guy — Who had dropped everything to follow her from Buenos Aires to Los Angeles. Cruz had starred with her in the telenovela for kids that Araceli had done before ‘La Alma Frente Al Sol’, and in a case of life imitates art, Araceli had fallen head-over-heels for him. He proposes when they are twenty years-old, and she swiftly gets married to him despite her mother’s recommendations.
She loves him. She loves him. She loves him.
He does not.
The truth is that Cruz has not had any auditions ever since their last job together, and being now married to an international star gives him the credibility he needs to start his own entertainment business. He stars asking more and more favors of her. She gets scared. They divorce. Her name gets dragged around the mud by TMZ, but the heartache is worst. Perhaps mother really does know best.
@TMZ: Araceli Gimenez caught cheating with a married man?! More likely than you think!
She graduates, gets a small role in her first blockbuster film and a starring role in a romantic comedy casting her yet again as the ‘approachable but not too much’ character. Her music career is doing fine, too. She’s just changed labels, trusting a younger and more dynamic producer to take care of her first real solo album. It’s a hit.
Also a hit? Her relationship with the producer. Mark Cartwright is tall, good looking, seven years her elder and makes her feel like she is the most important person in the world. He tells her he is about to divorce (he lies). She tells him she’ll support him (she tells the truth). Their relationship seems sweet, candid — Filled with emotions and care and being with him (entirely with him, in any sense of the term) feels more right than it ever did with Cruz.
And then, they’re caught at a restaurant. Tabloids splatter her face on the front page and call her a homewrecker. And she wants to leave, she really does — except that she finds out she is pregnant, and he divorces his wife to propose. She doesn’t want to forgive him (she wants the child, but is not sure she wants Mark) but her mother and her label affirm not doing so could be disastrous for her future project.
@catalinaponce: It’s a boy! Les deseo muchas felicidades a mi hijita mia y su nueva familia. @enews: Welcome to the world, Nicolás Cartwright! Araceli and Mark are glowing in straight-out-of-the-hospital pictures.
They get married.
@broadwaycom: Araceli Giménez announced to join the cast of Chicago!
She wants to move to New York. She really does. New York would be fun, and she would get to experience singing and acting in a way that will finally feel right to her. People want her in New York — And her mother tells her that this is only true because she is a money-making machine, and that a musical will not look great on her resume (especially not Chicago. Couldn’t she get Wicked? Catalina could have worked with Wicked).
For the first time in all her life, Araceli tells her mother that no matter what she says, her daughter is going to New York. Catalina disagrees. Mark disagrees. The producers of the new movie she is about to shoot disagree. Her label disagrees — her second album is about to be released, one Araceli was able to get more involved in through song writing, and they need her for the tour. Araceli divorces Mark and tries to prepare the best for disappointing everyone else.
And then scandals leaks in the tabloids.
@broadwaycom: Giménez backs out of Chicago deal. Find out more in this exclusive statement by the show’s producers. @enews: Whatever happened to Cielo? Argentina’s child star and USA’s latest sweetheart set for rehab? Read on to find out!
None of this is true — The rehab, the addiction, the fact she is a terrible role model or that her divorce with Mark was due to her own chronic infidelity. Lies. Lies. Lies. And everyone believes them as far as the media are concerned. Araceli is ruined. The producers of Chicago kindly give her the option to back out (a more respectful way of being fired). Catalina wants to send her away abroad, somewhere people won’t know her as much and where she can spend her days quietly before making a strong comeback. Araceli does not want any of that.
She wants to go home.
She can’t go home again.
@cielogimenez: Les desfraude demasiado ya, y durante hace demasiado tiempo. @cielogimenez: A todos los que me apoyarón, el más fuerte de los agradecimiento. Lo siento. No puedo más. @cielogimenez: I’m sorry. I lied. I can’t do this. Thank you all for the love and support. You are all the brightest stars there is.
She leaves her mother with a copy of her second album, highlighting one of the songs on the leaflet and writing ‘if you think this song is about you, it is’.
She and Nicolás move to Seattle. And she knows her life will catch up to her eventually — She just hopes for later, rather than sooner.
present
Seattle isn’t that far from Los Angeles, in hindsight. And maybe this was a poor choice. Maybe her mother will barge in at some point, or someone will recognize her and a media storm will explode, and she is not ready for this (not now, not yet, perhaps not ever). For all of her sociable and supportive nature, she has never been encouraged to face her own problems head-on. So she gets here and she panics. She panics and she gets new identity cards for her and her son — new name, new backstory, new curriculum vitae. Nico keeps his first name, but he becomes Nicolás Salgado, and Araceli starts going by Malena. A fake name, a fake story, a fake life, and a job as a waitress at Pizzuto’s obtained through all of that. Araceli Giménez was always a good actress, after all.
personality
Araceli is not the person you’ve seen on your screens. Formerly lively and opinionated, her years in the entertainment industry have left her not quite sure of who she is or what her values are anymore. Confused would therefore be the first word coming to mind to anyone who truly knows Araceli. She finds it hard to think for herself — Finally in a way that would matter and have an impact on her life. She also finds it hard to be honest — So she puts on her bright smile and becomes the great neighbor, the perfect friend, the amazing role model, the girl that seems approachable but not approachable enough that you would ever feel like you could become her friend (no matter how much you might want to). It is a pattern hard for her to break, no matter how hard she tries.
But here is what Araceli does know about herself: She cares about her son (and potentially, this caring nature could extend to other people were she to learn how to trust them); her trust is not gained easily (even before, especially now); she finds humor is best when served sarcastic; she much prefer a smooth or acoustic song and lyrics that matter to a lot of what she used to sing (her last album is the exception to the rule); she is not afraid to work hard even though she is not quite sure what she wants to work in; she is avoidant at best when it comes to commitment; she is not Alma (no matter how much she wishes she could be); she is not the horrible person the tabloids paint her at either (maybe she is somewhere in the middle?); she is careful and dependable and responsible and really could use a good night out to let things go if she had any friends she trusted enough for that; she is a better mother than hers was; she hates cilantro.

Top 11 Social Media Tasks For Your Virtual Assistant to Handle
Now, that you have got your VA installation with access, it's
Important to provide them an orientation on how you manage social media yourself.
To make this as easy as you can on both you, and your
Digital staff, I've kept things simple here, but contained all the most crucial social networking tasks you ought to be engaging inside.
If you you'd like to see me run through them, Rather than read, I have put together another tutorial movie for you, under:
1.Content-driven environment.  People expect you to churn out value, even at 140 characters.  This is the reason why links and quotes are so popular whether on Facebook, or LinkedIn.  They're just very easy to digest.
Finding quotes, links and graphics Which You Can share may be Quite time consuming.  Enter the virtual assistant.
Your VA to use Facebook's internal scheduling attribute instead of Hootsuite. Facebook can have issues with third party apps, where articles scheduled using such tools actually get less exposure -- so keep that in mind for the'big brother' of social networking.
2.  Tracking and Engaging with Your Audience -- One mad Tweet left unanswered can become a PR shitstorm.  That's why public personalities and brands spend a great deal of time and money on managing social websites.
wingman.  They can help you set up alerts and feeds to monitor mentions of your name, your services and products, your manufacturer, etc., around the internet.   You can use Tweetdeck, Google Alerts or even the trendy provider, Mention.net.
I like this service, since it sends an email to you (or your
VA!)  Daily telling you who is mentioning you around the web.  You simply click on the hyperlinks to see exactly what they said, and can react accordingly -- if it is a simple'thanks for mentioning me', or'hey, lets talk and type out this'. Excellent instrument and free to get started with -- even though it restricts the number of those mentions it tells you around, until you update to the pro edition.
If you are using Hootsuite, create streams/feeds for certain
Keywords and @mentions and your VA can monitor things directly from inside the dashboard, and manage things accordingly.
3.  Building & Managing your Network -- Ask your VA to
Follow / buddy / join with new people based on criteria.  On Twitter, your VA will also need to unfollow men and women who aren't active on Twitter, or appear to be spam.
ManageFiltter.  This service allows you to unfollow people that you've followed ; do not accompany you back, are inactive, have no profile picture, don't speak English and much more.   Additionally, it lets you follow several folks with just a stroke of your hand, as well as filter and then copy another individual's followers.  You can also use the service to automatically follow people who followed .
I recently did a Enormous purge on my Twitter account, and ended Up with a much stronger looking profile from a societal proof perspective.  Below you'll see the before and after images -- and I am sure you'll see very clearly what I mean.  Also, but now my Twitter newsfeed only lists tweets from those that I truly wish to follow for any reason.
The numbers have changed a little since these screenshots Were completed, but you'll find the point!
I'd my VA use ManageFiltter to handle that task, and it
Media, and sharing and sharing on content which is not your own is essential to creating your network.  Boost industry leaders on your market (thus elevating and promoting your own profile).  Maintain a 70/30 rule and only link back to your site out three of each ten shares.  An overly promotional strategy won't go down well with your followers.  That is where photos, videos and quotations come in handy.
You Might Have seen a few of my Facebook pictures lately which Market my brand by way of an image.
There are lots of different ways to encourage social Interaction on the internet.  Together with my weekly planner template further down the post, here are some ideas to get you started, all of which can be handled by your virtual staff:
Add a movie from Youtube and comment.Share relevant link or article in your niche.Straightforward status upgrade (Ex.  "I enjoy donuts on the weekend --What's your cure to yourself?") .
Interaction on free pages/comments/news feed
Monitoring.
Like pages within your specialty.Like and interact with the biggest names in your niche.Inspirational and Funny Pictures and Quotes.Thank fresh followers.Socialize with re-tweeters and replies.
4.Business owners, social media ROI is hard to measure, and I really do agree.  This is why you've got to have targets, even when it has to do with social websites.  You need to define your goals so that you'll know whether social networking is working for you.  Listed below are a few examples of social media goals Which You Can put in place and have your VA step and keep track of:
Boost your Facebook enjoys by 40% within the next 3-months.Get to 1000 Twitter followers by the close of the month.Focus on building awareness of a landing page via twitter, With routine tweets throughout the month.
Up from your VA every few weeks, or every month.   It'll track enjoys, followers, RTs, @mentions, and link-backs, amongst other stats which you wish handy to figure out where your societal focus should be.
5. Social networks update their layout.   Twitter upgraded the profile layout this past year.  YouTube just recently changed channel design to add cover art and a station trailer.
You won't need to"miss" these updates if You've Got a VA on Top of items.   And also the importance of getting a similar picture across all networks so that people immediately realize you and your services.  Ensure this is complete for all social networks and the about pages are current.
6.  Managing Your Facebook Advertising -- If you are planning on Expanding your audience using Facebook Advertising, then you can get you VA set up the Ad campaigns according to your criteria.
Your VA can also track and report the outcomes of the Ad campaigns. When working with paid ads it is crucial to split test with pictures and anchor text to determine which adds record the most beliefs and generate the most leads/sales.  Check out the first ever installment of the New Business Podcast with Facebook expert, Amy Porterfield for much more Facebook hints and tricks!
7.Virtual helper create a Facebook page for your business, or side jobs. Many online entrepreneurs have over one hustle (envision that!!!) , and this can indicate a demand for at least 1 account with different social networks.  These take time to establish and new Twitter accounts also require you to set up, with a fresh email address.
Why waste time doing so when you can have your VA do it?
8.   Planner in place for your everyday status upgrades is a good way to be certain that'something' is going out on a daily basis.  This doesn't need to be too intricate.  Just pick the social programs you're most active on (for me in Facebook, Twitter and Google+, since you can see below in the example image), and also have your VA set ideas together for you.
It together on a weekly basis, or monthly Skype chat.
9.   Spruce up your page, there is a program for it!  Facebook Apps can be a bit of a pain to install.  Have your VA search for the apps you'd love to have on your own page and install them.   I suggest having an Internet Developer VA handle this task for you personally, if at all possible.
10.   To get folks sharing your articles and connected to a social network.  Make it something that will get people excited.  Even a Kindle giveaway could bring in a lot of hype for your own brand.  Try to make the competition involve something which engages people and undergo how you want things encouraged along with your VA, so that they understand what to do, and what not to do (and guarantee!) .
11.  Competition is a big part of any successful business model and you ought to be gathering valuable information on what it is that your competitors are doing on social networking.
Have they been growing quicker than you?  What are they sharing?  Are they hosting contests?  These are all questions that you should be asking yourself.  If your competition is progressing more quickly across their social networking accounts, then you have to ascertain what their social networking strategy is and repeat it better then they're doing.  You can have your own VA take screenshots of their largest competitors in your niche and compare their growth together with yours on a monthly basis, along with what it is they have been doing.
Conclusion
You can't Start to imagine the freedom you will have when You stop spending hours on societal websites every day.
The Issue with social websites is that it sucks you in, like
I stated earlier.  You can't honestly say that every time you log into Facebook,
You don't get side-tracked and begin browsing.  People spend far too much time Being unproductive when on social sites.  This Isn't good business sense from the 21st century and the best way to solve this problem would be to have your own VA manage Your social accounts, which means that you can focus on the money making aspects of your business.

There was an obvious ‘McGuffin’ in “Inception” — — (“These ‘dream levels’… how exactly are they architected??”….
