Imagine you're someone who enjoys true crime and you're sitting on the couch watching a particular gruesome episode of your favorite show while you're waiting for your dad to come home

You sat on the couch with your knees drawn to your chest as Chicago PD played on the screen. Your heard your father come in through the front door

You heard your fathers footsteps stop behind the couch as the tv screen showed the cops pulling a decapitated body out of the water and cutting to a scene of the decapitated head

"What on Earth are you watching" he said

"Chicago PD. It's getting good" you replied, not even turning around but keeping your eyes glued to the screen as they gave a close-up of the body

"Jesus. Whatever happened to Bluey or Kipper the Dog?" he asked as he tossed his suit jacket onto a nearby chair

"Dad quiet, they're examining the body" you held up your pointer finger to 'shush' him

He usually doesn't fuss too much over your grades (I don't think he did that well in school) but he just cares about the effort that you put in towards your grades more so than the result

When you were younger, you got a really bad grade on a certain subject so when you got out of school, you ran home and dug through your mailbox to find your report card and tuck it into your pants and you shuffled through the house heading through barricade "Dad" giving him robotic one worded response

You tucked the report card under your mattress and hid in your room the rest of the evening and shuffled downstairs for dinner

The entire meal you avoided his eyes and he had to bribe it out of you with cake and a trip to the zoo

He wasn't mad at you for the bad grade but he was disappointed that you hid the report card

You stopped hiding your report cards since your grades got better and in your teen years, you had no reason to hide report cards since your school had a website for parents to check on grades

Additionally, when you were little, he didn't know anything about what clothes little girls liked to wear so he bought what you pointed your finger at

You ended up with a leather aviator hat with goggles that you begged your dad for at the Intrepid in New York City, a baseball shirt, cargo shorts with a water gun tucked into your waistband

And cause you learn to fight, you've gotten into a few fights with girls at school who've tried to pour milk on you but you pulled a pocket knife on them

The car ride home was silent as Nam drove you back from school. Early pick up and a four day suspension. You poked at the leather of the BMW car seat mentally preparing for whatever lecture your father was going to give you He slowed the car down at a red light and let out a sigh The signature dad 'I'm gonna say something to scold you' sigh. Nam could swear up and down that he's never sighed like that until you came along "y/n" he began and you slowly looked over at him "If you were going to fight then you should've kept it under wraps. I thought that I had taught you to plan for damage control" "Um" how were you supposed to respond to that? "Now, I don't know what this girl did to make you lash out - so much so as you pulled a knife on her-" Nam said as the light turned green and he began to drive again "Oh please, it was a Swiss Army Knife. Those are lousy weapons" "Do you think the school board cares about that? Especially since "Her father is on the school board" "Her father is on the school board" You said as the same time "Yeah yeah" you waved it off. "He can't expell me I'm the best student AND! The school won't release this to keep their image good" you looked over at him "The only issue is shutting up the dad" you said as you pointed your finger at him "First of all, put your finger down. Secondly, don't change the subject - I'll deal with you at home. And thirdly, leave her father to me"

Tbh, he never understood half of what you did (or said) but you were his only daughter and he loves you so much

fun fact - I’ve been a fan of Ian since he was Rome in C-Clown. C-Clown was the second kpop group I had heard of and I will never forget the time I had watched their debut stage. My eyes met Ian’s in the camera and I knew I had to learn more about him and the members.

Let’s go back a few years. I was cleaning my room, and decided to play a random music video that was recommended to me. That music video happened to be So Beautiful. As I was cleaning my room, I kept thinking to myself that he sounded familiar and I had heard him before. It was around that time I looked at my phone, saw Ian’s ‘Be There Be Down Be You’ tattoo and realized exactly who he was. I felt excitement to finally find him again after 2015. Through Ian I ventured into DPR, discovering Dabin, Cream, and now Artic. I discovered how DPR came to be and what they stand for.

Now here in 2024, Ian is my favorite artist. I love and cherish him so much. Ian, Mito, Mr. Insanity, I value them all and they are apart of my journey into my self healing. I will forever be grateful to have Ian as my favorite artist, my role model, the person that has helped me through my darkest times. thinking about avalon by dpr ian and how well it fits amelin especially in the blood ending. yes i do really like to associate songs i like with characters/routes as most of the time whenever i get inspiration to write it's because of songs, characters, or both at the same time.

maybe it's the fact that it's a very "midnight motorcycle ride" type song (to me) that made me think of amelin in the first place, but then i listened to the lyrics a bit more and i realized. this is their song. and not just in the sense that it gives me their vibes. i mean it as in they actually listen to the song together and consider it theirs. since ame has my music taste i also think they'd listen to dpr (mostly ian, but they also listen to live/dabin), and one day while taking the wheel on the motorcycle they play this song. cue:

heyyyyy y’all… i’m peyton [sh/th, 21+, cst—also the mun of selena, hyeon, mouse & dabin] and i’m stoked to be bringing you guys another older character of mine, hwang daesung/dylan hwang. the tl;dr on dylan is that he’s a dude soooo fixated on being the life of the party that he’s actually not the life of the party at all 😓 you can view his stats here, his pinterest here and read all about him under the cut.

dylan hwang, born june 14, 1997 in santa monica, ca, usa to a rock musician/producer/blue collar worker father and a hairstylist mother :~) dylan was their first and only child and he was absolutely cherished. his parents were deeply in love, and you could tell that dylan was a product of that—a very bright, happy, confident kid who took after his father in particular.

he had an interest in music from a young age and would frequently accompany his father to his band’s practice sessions and/or studio recordings; but he didn’t only think the music stuff was cool, he also admired how hard of a worker his dad always was and how he still made time for his family and never seemed tired like…… the most he ever complained about was a headache. in dylan’s eyes, that man was a superhero!!!

also has an uncle (on his dad’s side) who’s cool as hell too; owned a record store in queens and babysat dylan often when he was little and both parents were busy. cool cool guy

but he had a harder time connecting with his mom as she was the more practical adult in his life—very much “good cop/bad cop” and unfortunately she was the bad cop, LOL. making dylan let her cut his hair whilst his dad encouraged him to grow it out, lecturing him for climbing trees in the neighborhood, no sweets before breakfast type deal like… she wasn’t evil AT ALL, just irritating sometimes lmfao

anywayyyy… TW CHRONIC ILLNESS, DEATH / when dylan was 14, his dad went to see a doctor for the aforementioned headaches he’d been having; this turned out to be a series of growths in his brain—he passed away within the same year / END TW

tl;dr dylan lost his dad in 2012, and it turns out his dad was the glue that was holding him and his mom together as well; rather than grieve and heal together, an irreparable distance grew and it definitely didn’t help that dylan was 14… the most evil age ever??? was extremely unkind to his mom, made her cry a lot, the house was silent most of the time with them even learning to have their meals at separate times

dylan really leaned into music more than ever around this time, and even more so once his mom realized she couldn’t pay the bills on her own and needed to go back to south korea and live with her parents for a while; dylan was extremely americanized by this point and didn’t speak korean on a native level, so he felt isolated as all hell in seoul—luckily his uncle richie moved to seoul along with them to stay close to dylan so at least he wasn’t stranded in unfamiliar territory with no one who he felt like he could lean on

his mom’s parents gave her a small loan to start her own salon in jongno-gu and richie relocated his music store to the nakwon musical instrument arcade, where it still is today; needless to say, they adjusted surprisingly quickly and, in a way, dylan felt like he was the only one still grieving and consequently was being left behind (which is not true but yk he was an angsty teenager)

had a lot of sadness and frustration with nowhere to go, and from about 15 to 18 he was a problem child :( picking fights, treating the people around him like shit, getting kicked out of school, etc etc

but around 18 he got a very humbling reality check and has been striving to be better ever since/striving to be someone his dad would be proud of—his relationship with his mom is still quite complicated because, like i mentioned before, he ended up getting kicked out of school which was NOTTTT cool… eventually got his ged, but. should not have happened that way. and she’s consistently asked him to pursue something other than music with his life as she doesn’t want to watch him waste his life chasing a pipe dream, but that remains the only thing that he really wants to do; he does help out at her salon on occasion and she talks about how she wishes he would come on full-time so they could spend more time together and she wouldn’t spend all day worrying about him, but 🤷‍♂️ he really doesn’t want to cut hair for the rest of his life. mostly nice to her now, but never gave her a proper apology for the fucked up shit he said to her before/the way that he treated her, and is still prone to lashing out when she gets on his nerves—familiarity breeds contempt type vibe.

after he was kicked out of school, he started working for his uncle richie at his music store as a sales associate; is still there to this day, but has job-hopped quite a bit over the years… richie always takes him back when he inevitably quits or gets fired. nowadays, he’s operating as a sales associate/instrument and record player repair tech/halfass assistant store manager like… what does he not do? he acts like he owns the place.

started a band in 2019, tentatively called both haze and through the haze (sounds like: silica gel, thornapple) depending on who you’re asking. a psychedelic rock band with a bunch of random ass influences; slow start, but they’ve been gaining a fair bit of traction recently. not quite known internationally, but most people in the jongno-gu area know the name and they play shows in the area often, as well as being invited to perform at independent rock festivals throughout the year. still…. the band’s not paying the bills, so 🤷‍♂️ they can’t quit their day jobs yet…

here he is now: a 26 (almost 27) year old man still doing the same shit he was doing 5 years ago, seemingly at a standstill in life. personality-wise, he’s very kind and humorous—forever trying to make up for the jackass that he was as a teenager, feels the best when he’s making people smile or laugh. treats everyone he encounters like they’re special to him in some way, “because they are”. much more intelligent than he’s given credit for, but lives as a piece of comedic relief instead of letting his skills (beyond music) show. absolute party animal, can outdrink anyone and can go for hours; hosts a lot of afterparties following haze’s shows, so stop by if you’re looking for a good time. a candle burning at both ends, but if you don’t look too close, you can’t tell; has an alcohol problem, but 🤷‍♂️ claims that it “comes with the territory” and “is no big deal”. friendly, well-meaning guy who never made peace with his grief and has to be fucked up to feel good, and no matter what levels of success he reaches, it never feels good enough. like i said before, he treats people like they’re special but fails to maintain meaningful relationships as he runs from commitment in any form and wants to know a lot of people a little bit rather than know a few people really good. lonely lonely man.

plot ideas

i always say this, but: i love extensive plotting, so if you're trying to discuss all the little details and build a strong storyline together, i'm your girl! however, i'm also 100% game to get a loose idea together, jump in and see how it develops. that said, here are some small ideas:

naturally, dylan's band members. the band has been around since 2019, but the current members do not have to be original. if/when these spots are taken, i would like to get together and discuss the band's dynamic as a whole as well! currently seeking: bassist, lead guitarist, drummer.

a friend around dylan's age (born '96 to '98 ideally) who he met when he first moved to seoul in 2013. they've been friends for 11 years now, so this is someone who knows dylan better than anyone else in his life, and his #1 supporter but also his biggest critic - they see how toxic/unhealthy his behavior is and call him out on his bs, which quite frankly scares him LMFAOOOO so maybe there's a little distance between them now that's never been there before? let's figure out the details together

musicians who often come to spins & needles for things like guitar strings, picks, cords, various music equipment, etc etc... connections he's made this way who don't have their own band, but sometimes fill in if a member of haze is unable to play a show? connections who DO have their own band and sometimes open for haze or vice versa? jam session buddies, young/budding musicians who think dylan's way cooler than he actually is, someone who just really loves music and drops in to chat the shit with dylan.

an ex-girlfriend, probably someone introduced to dylan by his mom as she used to frequent his mom's salon. they dated for a while, but dylan wasn't serious about her/wasn't willing to settle down at the time while she was wanting a partner who could be husband material. sorry!

a random ass eclectic friend group... people who have absolutely nothing in common with dylan, but they have a great time together anyway.

party friends, and ultimately, bad influences on each other - constantly pushing each other's limits, waking up with gnarly hangovers and doing it all again the next night. perhaps these are friends who dylan will grow apart from throughout his development as he tries to steer away from drinking, but that's a bridge to cross in the future!!!

let him have his christopher wilde (from starstruck, for those who don't know) moment... someone who doesn't like him/has been talking shit about how he's "pretentious" or whatever and now he's fixating on making them change their mind. "you don't like me? but you don't even know me.. i think... i think if you knew me, you would really like me" monologue type beat.

born and raised in seoul, dabin is a city boy to his core. his parents aren't "rich", but they're pretty damn comfortable—as a result, dabin is... a little... spoiled...

picky, difficult kid. not necessarily mean, but does have an attitude that seems to suggest he thinks he's above other people; his parents have him spend a lot of time with his maternal grandparents in jeju-do to kind of combat this problem as they're very hard workers and very humble people. worth noting that his grandmother is a haenyo/female diver, very much the breadwinner of their household and after dabin gets past all the judgment and whiny ass "you smell like seaweed! i hate you!" tantrums, she instills a very strong admiration/respect for women in him

anyway, as if that doesn't put him in his place, his parents having another kid when dabin is already 10 does LMFAOOOO... no longer the baby of the family, has to step up and help his parents out (as much as a 10yr old can) with the baby. it's a bummer. he fuckin' hates that kid for the first two months of her life, and then all of a sudden he loves her more than he's probably ever loved anything

sparknotes: by the time he's reaching his teenager years, dabin is mostly humble but extremely wild / daredevil, likes to do shit just for thrills / gets in a lot of trouble, is arrested a few times in his late teens & early adulthood and ends up being assigned community service hours as part of his sentence / becomes very compassionate in this timeframe as he learns about world issues and what he can do to make a change / ends up enlisting and then going to college a bit late (paid for in full by his parents who just want to see him improve his life), undecided major at first but eventually settles on art history (useless ass degree if you ask his dad LOLLL) / gets his bachelor's degree in 2018 and then his master's in 2021, by the time he finishes his master's he has drastically mellowed out / gets a job at hakgojae gallery as an art handler, eventually works his way up to being the foh manager oh yeahhh...

so here he is now. a 30 year old man who's Been There, Done That and just wants peace now. he's extremely smart, but also is well aware that he doesn't know everything and is always happy to learn something new. passionate about things such as animal rights, climate change, women's rights, etc etc, still volunteers often even though he fulfilled his requirements a while ago. reads a lot of books about self-improvement and various informative topics.

still kinda pretentious ngl... but i'm sure that vibe carries through enough in this intro that i don't even have to say it, LMFAO. that said, he is a very well-meaning dude; his intentions are pure, and he's trying every day to be better than he was yesterday.

Fight or Flight? 07/17/24

I just feel bad 😔 Every guy I’ve ever tried to love made me feel bad and they could not accept me the way I am. I know I gave my deepest admiration to these men who just can’t show up for me in return.

Now my husband is starting to make me feel so bad 😭😭😭 he’s stressing out over money to where he’s making me feel bad when I’m not the one who buys stuff. I only do the groceries. I buy nothing extra. When we first got together, I felt so safe with him away from my ex Andrew. My husband was just the nicest and most understanding and supportive guy. He never treated me like I was crazy and he protected me against Andrew is why I felt safe enough to marry him. We had a beautiful wedding and honeymoon.

now here we are… everything is so expensive and work is hard. Life is hard. I’m trying to get over the past the best way I can. I keep waking up in the night and struggling to stay asleep. I’m trying so hard to connect with my husband, I even started playing Pokémon go with him so I can spend time with him but the way he stressed and talked yesterday about the money and about his job, made me feel like I’m back with Andrew 😭 my husband has never been mean to me ever and I don’t think he’s trying to hurt me but I do think he’s frustrated cuz it’s so hard to save a lot of money right now because of how expensive everything is. 😝😝😝 (but I wanna be more important to him than money)

My solution is we just spend less and cut back but that’s not his solution. Idk what to do. I keep fighting not to compare my husband to my exes. I am trying so hard to trust that he’ll continue to keep me safe but yesterday the way he was stressing out soo bad, I felt very defensive and like I wanted to run. I’ve been in survival mode too many years. My husband won’t understand that. He’s never had to be there. All the way back in school, I was just trying to survive there till my mom let me be homeschooled but then all these toxic relationships I was in were keeping me feeling like I have to run away…. So I finally listened to The Predator 2: Fleeky Season (I'm so behind in albums...whatever).

I like Fleeky Bang overall. He's good at what he does. However, it kinda got repetitive halfway through the album. I got tired by about the 7th song. In the last half it has more variety though. I feel like the first half a lot of similar instrumentals and lyrical content (opps, "blicking"/shooting them, mentioning SCH Yel or Dirty play members, etc).

I like him mentioning SCH Yel members to an extent. He mentions Tray B once (says he is his favorite rapper) so that was fine. But he mentions Uneducated Kid like A MILLION times! Once in that same line as Tray B saying they are his favorite rappers. He also mentions Polodared (or just Polo) a handful of times. I LOVE the crew/label vibes but I feel like they all just need to do a song or two (or a few) together like Indigo, WYBH, YnR, and whatever other crew, label, or close group of friends can be mentioned.

Rosy Barbie was an interesting feature for "Sausage". I liked Rosy on Drop the Bit but her voice/rapping doesn't come off as good on songs. She sounds better live to me. Or maybe the verse she did on Drop the Bit was just overall better than her regular songs. I'm not sure.

The Quiett trying to be sexual on "More & More" was somehow so unsexy. Like I find him super attractive and handsome and cool but...idk what it was about that lol. Maybe it's the overtnessn of it. Usually The Quiett is very overt when he has sexual content so idk why that stood out to me so much on this one lol.

Coogie makes everyone he interacts with more likeable to me. He just has that effect. I think the song on "Pull Up" was a slightly different song and good chang of pace. Same with "Tokyo" w/ Big Naughty and "No More" w/ Yumdda.

I also liked "Wemby" the lyrical content was similar to other songs but the instrumental was more different to what he's done before.

Last few small details but mentions Hong Dabin (yes calls him by his full government name) on one of the songs. Fleeky Bang is a confirmed DPR Live fan lol!

Ph-1 saying ICN is his second home. Sounds miserable! I HATE that airport! I'm sure he got used to it after being in it so much. I got lost incoming AND outbound of Korea in that airport. I was lost for like an HOUR both times! I almost was gonna just keep the wifi egg and pay whatever price they would have charged me for it cause I was tired of looking for the return kiosk! He might just be talking about the city, Incheon though. In that case, nevermind lol.

Overall, the album is ok. The only problem is the repetitiveness in the first half.

it was clear from a young age that ahin possessed a talent for the arts. his parents threw him into piano lessons on a whim, but neither of them could have ever anticipated that he would pretty much become a child prodigy.

as such, he performed at plenty of recitals, traveled the world to do so even, but as much as he liked the piano he still thought something was lacking. he just wasn't stimulated enough, and even if he had the talent he didn't have the passion for the instrument. he found it to be boring at times even. thus began his attempt to find what it was he was really into. the drums. he knew his parents would never go for it, but eventually they caved and allowed him to play under the promise that he'd continue with the piano as well. he did until he was in high school, where he basically quit cooperating with them.

despite his affinity for music, his true passion was in baking. he watched a lot of cooking television and that's where his interest started. when he wasn't busy generating enough noise to cause complaints from neighbors, he was busy destroying the kitchen with his baking attempts. he wasn't as much of a natural at this, but his efforts eventually proved to be fruitful as he later on down the road found a position at bon chance as a baker.

bon chance is where he initially met dabin, one of the members of hollow boy. though they didn't talk until they ran into each other again at allegro, the two eventually began striking up a friendship and forming the band, which he plays the drums for.
