Offbeat rec, but I really love the way Lucia and Regin love each other in IAD--specifically Pleasure of a Dark Prince (Lucia's book) but in general. They're *technically* sisters, as all valkyries are, but they're really best friends and so ride or die for each other. When Lucia is like "I need to go on the run so my werewolf fated mate can't find me" Regin is all "I'm ON IT" and goes with her and helps her like, push Garreth down a ravine and attempt to crush him with cars. It's great.

The Mating Habits of Scoundrels by Vivienne Lorret has great, funny friendships. The girls are really supportive of each other, but they're also like... encouraging one another's worst fears. I think Wallflowers fans would really like this series--my favorites are The Wrong Marquess, How to Steal a Scoundrel's Heart, and Never Seduce a Duke.

Oooh The Fifth Avenue Rebels by Joanna Shupe has fabulous friendships. This is definitely a "friends encourage friends to go goblin mode" series, especially on Nellie's part. Nellie is like, always steering Maddy to cheat on her fiancee with Archer (to be fair, Nellie had.... a conflict of interest there, but she was Right) and taking Katherine to French balls to go hook up with masked men and stuff. And in her book especially, I think you really see how much she adores her friends, and how much she feels that "everyone is getting married and growing up and moving on without me" thing, which leads to a lovely friendship moment between all four.

Hell's Belles by Sarah MacLean OBVIOUSLY has an amazing girl gang that encourages women's wrongs.

Grace Callaway's Lady Charlotte's Society of Angels series by Grace Callaway has a group of crazy young vigilante girls, led by a much calmer, but secretly insane, Lady Charlotte. I just love how these girls will be like "LET'S KICK FLIP VILLAINS AND KISS BOYS".

Jennifer Ashley's first four Mackenzie books especially have really lovely, supportive friendships between the Mackenzie brides. Beth and Isabella are probably the closest, but they're all really tight and understanding of one another.

Adriana Herrera's Las Leonas series is only two books in thus far, but I've been LOVING the female friendships in that series. The women really GET each other, and I super enjoy the fact that there is like... an acknowledged bonding that goes beyond them being women in the 19th century, and goes into them being woc in a predominantly white European society especially.

And for books that have great friendships between men and women, I looove Frannie's relationships with the Scoundrels of St. James, especially Jack. Like, all these guys are a little in love with her (Jack least for sure because he actually gets that their love is platonic lol), but it's pretty quickly clear that it's like, this trauma bond situation where they actually just really GET each other and where they're coming from. So it's not like, objectifying in any way and she's more like the heart of the group, while also being great at forging things and such as that lmao.

I watched Cardcaptor Sakura for the first time earlier this year and I LOVED IT!

Im sure I would've been obsessed with it growing up but I wasn't even born back when this anime was airing lmao

I loooved the artstyle and animation and the fact that Sakura had a different outfit every episode!! Her friend Tomoyo was also super cute she was my favourite character!💞

Somehow i felt nostalgic for the show even though I had never watched it before. Maybe because it reminded me of Mermaid Melodyso much. I mean they're both early 2000's anime and also (fan fact!) in the greek dub Sakura and Kero share the same voice actors with Lucia and Hippo respectively!

I tried watching Clear Card, the sequel series that came out a few years ago but tbh I just can't get into it. I find the story a bit boring and i don't really like the new artstyle and color palette. I've watched up to episode 4 and I don't plan on continuing watching it. Should give the series a second chance? What do u think?

*The reason it took me so long to post this is because, honestly, the options to make someone who is both masculine and ethnic enough to make Fae similar to how he actually looks/is described in the novel was impossible. Thankfully it was a bit easier with everyone else (especially the ladies)... but still! Come on! I do really appreciate the artists whose picrews I eventually used - they’re all beautiful, even if they don’t fit how my particular characters look, and they gave me the option to even make this post at all.

Now imagine, if you will, the above Fae but with a much more prominent nose and cheekbones; skin a warmer, darker shade of brown with the same sandy undertones; fuller eyebrows and lips; and then his ‘fantasy’ characteristics, like long pointed ears; a light, iridescent sheen to his skin under the sun; larger fangs; and a bite mark on his neck.

Suhi Condor Mahankila (left): Roa’s younger sister, also girlfriends with Ha’Kahn, Roa’s childhood best friend. Outgoing and friendly, Suhi quickly befriends her family’s vampire guest. Clever, observant, and with no tolerance for bullshit, she often knows more about what’s happening than she lets on, and occasionally uses this knowledge to set up elaborate pranks (often with the help of Ha’Kahn, and usually to Roa’s detriment). The reluctant heir to her mother’s powers, Suhi may work hard, but in general she’s rather laid back - ask her about her horses, though, and you’ll see how excitable she can be.

Fun fact: she has a nickname only Roa uses - HiCo.

Lucia Valaine (right): Fae’s best friend, and his vampire ‘sibling’ whose past shares many things in common with his own. She cares for Fae - and anyone else deemed important to her - very deeply, and, as such, holds them to a high standard. A fashionable dresser barely taller than five feet and sporting a soft, curvy physique, one might not know at first glance that Lucia is a fierce, highly skilled fighter, ready to fight tooth and nail for herself and her loved ones.

Fun fact: Before she was turned, Lucia was a well-known dancer.

Jimena Condor Mahankila (left): Mother to Roa and Suhi, and honorary mother to Ha’Kahn, Jimena is not only a clan Elder, but the clan Messenger - a prophetess whose sacred role is to receive and pass on wisdom sent directly from the Goddess, the Moon herself. She predicted Fae’s arrival, but claims to know nothing more about the purpose behind his presence on the ranch. Warm, intelligent, and firm, Jimena uses her magical prowess and wisdom to heal and guide those around her, and to uphold the teachings and traditions of her clan.

Fun fact: Jimena has a close (read: gay) relationship with Ha’Kahn’s mentor, Tze.

Ha’Kahn Allca Callañaupa: Roa’s childhood best friend and Suhi’s girlfriend. Ha’Kahn is a non-binary ADHD-having short king; they are high energy, fiercely loyal, easily distracted, and much-loved by the rest of the clan despite (or because of) their unrelenting clownishness. Brave to the point of stupidity, Ha’Kahn is infinitely more emotionally mature than they first appear, and is the first person Roa turns to when he needs advice and support. Fun fact: Ha’Kahn’s greatest wish is to jump off of a waterfall and live to tell the tale; Roa and their two dads have successfully talked them out of this on several separate occasions.

So to begin, I will add to this singular post for each book I finish in this series. I had been wanting to read this series for a few months now and I decided I'd let it be the first book I read in 2022! Disclaimer this book is not in kindle unlimited unfortunately.

Balance - finished 01/07/2022

I loved loved LOVED this book. I'd rate it a 9.9/10 (I think everyone has learned by now I don't give 10/10 to any books, or at least haven't yet). There is drama, sass, undermining and steamy tension! I am in love with Kova even tho he is an asshole and I love the dynamic Kova and Adrianna have. Kova is everything i want in a book boyfriend and more. Around 82% of the way through the book I had to close it and just breath for a minute bc of how wonderfully written the spicy scenes are and how much they feed my specific wants in the books I read. And to think everyone keeps telling me it only gets better but I don't understand how when this has already satiated my hunger so much. I'll update when I finish the second book in the series but so far I am loooving this!

Well that was a trainwreck and not at all what I was expecting.. So many twists and turns. A few of the plot twists I did expect but not in a way that didn't suprise me. I mean.. There has to be drama, doesn't there? But the execution of these twists just kept coming and I did not expect it to all happen so quickly. This book was really good and I'm kinda surprised I liked the second one just as much! I'm really worried about the third one now😅

There is just something about Lucia Franco's writing that just flows so easily when you're reading it that you don't even realize how much of it you're reading and you just can't get enough. I just finished Release after taking a break from the series for a while because I don't want the story to be over. This book ended just as strongly as the book before it did and I'm still astounded at how the author can continue to throw these plot lines at us while not making them seem inconceivable.. if that makes sense. I'm just flabbergasted and I cannot wait to get to the next book because at this point I have no idea what is going to go on in the rest of the series. 9.9/ 10. If I didn't already own the book I would buy it again. And honestly if the last two books are anywhere near as good as the first three I will be buying the physical copies as well.

It was only as she reached for her cloak that she noticed Lucia's mammoth breasts had no chance of squeezing into her top. "Oh! Oh my goodness, what was I thinking? Okay, okay..." She took a deep breath, scanned around the room and decided her cloak was the best option. It was short, red and tailored for her, but it was juuuuuust large enough to cover her sister's chest, although it left the underside of her breasts exposed. 

Kite cocked her head to the side after helping her sister get the red garment in place. "Not that bad, actually... its kind of sexy. Maybe once we get to the stables we could..." She shook her head, trying her best to drive away the lewd thoughts. Just being around her sister had really increased her level of perversion quite a bit! "Come on, lets see if we can get out of here unnoticed." 

She opened the window and took a quick look outside. No sign of anyone. The morning baths were long over, and most travelers were probably already on their way. 

"Okay, okay. Can you make it out the window quietly?" She didn't wait for a reply from her sister, and quickly fell to the ground, landing silently on her feet.

something random: so my mum apparently sold meat to Alexander Skarsgård this weekend when she was a vendor at a christmas market. She didn't even realize who it was until her friend told her afterwards bless her soul. And my brother was sitting close to Omar on a train yesterday but wasn't completely sure who he was until he googled and saw he was wearing the same pants or something. apparently everyone in my family is casually bumping into Swedish celebs these days
