Apologies if this has been asked before but I’m trying to get to the bottom of what people describe as ‘biblically accurate angels’ and I’m getting conflicting results and I thought why not ask someone who definitely knows more on the topic than me. Is the incomprehensible multi-eye wheel creature thing true?

"True" is the problem, because... it is, and it isn't, and it depends, and it's complicated!

I looooove angels, you're right, and I was working on doing a vid on this exact topic because the term 'biblically accurate angel' is a pet peeve of mine. However, no matter the power of my autistic angelic obsession, I wouldn't say I'm a perfect source. I got intimidated outta making that video because I got too anxious of messing it up and losing my angel cred. BUT! I do know some stuff.

What's wrong with "Biblically Accurate Angels?

Three things!

1. "Biblically"

Most people I see, when confronted with the word 'Biblically', think of Christianity. The Bible technically refers to a collection of texts shared by a number of Abrahamic religions, but I've a lot of people entirely unaware of that fact. There's often a general lack of recognition around 'biblically accurate angel' posting that angels aren't exclusively or originally Christian concepts. Tumblr is an outlier of a place, remember; I read youtube comments.

2. "Accurate"

This makes me lose it, just a little bit, because the idea 'real angels in the bible actually looked like scary monsters' is both incorrect and kind of a rude thing to say about a holy entity a number of religions believe in.

There are a lot of ideas of angel classification and hierarchy, but you'll usually only see one--- the Christian one. This has nine orders in three spheres, going usually angel, archangel, principality (3rd sphere, most humanoid), powers, virtues, dominions (2nd, basically no lore), thrones/ophainim, cherubim, seraphim (1st, weirdo patrol). The lowest spheres are closest to humanity, the highest are closer to the divine.

(it's worth noting there's a big difference between 'what is exactly in the canon holy text' versus 'writings/visions/ideas from scholars later'. There's differing opinions everywhere and also different sects.) Little is universal.

Speaking of, religions! Heard of them? Angel hierarchy as it's commonly see is very specifically a Christian angle! There's a number of different Jewish angelic hierarchies which include different types or interpretations of angels. There's usually 10 ranks instead of 9 too.

I know the least about angels in Islam, but they don't have a strict angel hierarchy either, though some angels are more important than others.

As for angel physical descriptions, it varies. They can take human form, but they're spirits doing that for our convenience. Some of them are doing weird stuff, but most of the time an angel is some essence of light and fire taking a lesser defined shape for our convenience.

Some of the main ideas of a 'biblically accurate angel' come from one of my fav bits of the bible, the chariot in Ezekiel.

If you've not read the fun weird bits of the bible before, let me introduce you!!

These are the Living Creatures which are considered Cherubim in Christianity. The wheels are the Ophanim, who are also Thrones. The whole thing sounds like a very intricate chariot rather than a bunch of angels, but hey, it says right there they're 'living beings'

3. "Angels"

What is an angel anyway?

Well, there's an answer, but as I think I've highlighted there's a number of different, varying ideas of them which are all equally valid! This can include, of course, the artistic choice of making them monsters ( I love doing this ), but it's incorrect to assert such a design is 'more or truly accurate'.

Angels are messengers. The word for angel originally was Messenger, and the role of angels is generally to serve as a conduit and messenger of divine will. They can be teachers or healers. They often are more extensions of the holy rather than truly independent spirits, good because they are divine rather than the choice of free will. (but like everything I'm saying it depends bc religions and opinions are not unified monoliths).

Not all angels are messengers. Even without a strict hierarchy, there's a common idea of specific angels for specific jobs. The idea of Archangels is also common, though which are and how many differs wildly, as does their function.

Angels are divine beings. Humans don't become them. There also are some sects that believe this, like the Latter Day Saints, but generally the divide between human and angel is very clear. Humans are generally above angels, because we're beloved new ocs.

anyway, this is a very approximate ramble for you on the subject. I think I could have gone on in much more detail and I decided not to. Especially as I note I don't have that kind of 'learn and memorize everything about your special interest' kind of autism, just 'a lot more than normal over many years'. Angels are a really complicated subject because religion is, and it all differs. But I do dislike Biblically Accurate Angel because I think it's really misled people who come across it casually. Yes, there's weird angel stuff, but it's pretty rare (especially in common canon), and it isn't 'the secret creepypasta truth'.

(also many shells from the astoria formation) and then someone that went a week later found a DESMOSTYLIAN TOOTH ATTACHED TO JAW BONE which is literally a dream find for me 😭😭😭

i’d also like to visit the menefee formation of new mexico! it’s been a focus of some research for a while now and i’ve met some people working on it (mesa verde national park has a lot of fossils from that fm, very neat place and if u ask they have info) and there’s more cool stuff to come !!!

lastly… probably the chinle of AZ/NM or some triassic dockum group stuff in texas. i’d looooove to find some of that iconic rainbow petrified wood!

How I think the HH crew takes their coffee

Lucifer orders the most complicated, sugary, step specific drink you could imagine. He is hated by baristas everywhere. Also gets so excited when ordering he changes it at least 3 times halfway through explaining it. Probably gets something different everytime too. He is a regular with no usual. Charlie canonically likes frappaccinos! Like her dad, I can see her having similar tastes, sugar, but also wanting to keep it simple so that she doesn't overwhelm the employees (she's too considerate for her own good). Orders straight from the menu exactly how it is with no alterations, is also the one who probably walks in with a list of orders for her friends, goes as slow as possible for the cashiers sake. Angeldust rolls up to the drivethrough hung over and orders something iced- probably a caramel drink and he asks for it to specifically be drowned in caramel, and an extra shot. Either that or a vanilla iced latte. Vaggie is not a huge fan of coffee, she gets a tea or tea latte instead. Earl grey is her favourite and she likes a lot of milk. Alastor loves a nice extra hot black coffee. He wants that bitch scolding and bitter. Doesn't even drink it, just splashes it in his face. Where that would normally give someone 3rd degree burns, it gives him some 'extra pep' in the morning, as he puts it (god he's a fucking freak) Husk takes his coffee black also, but instead will spike it with his own bourbon he keeps in a flask. Will sometimes get cream and sugar if he's feeling, as he puts it , 'fancy' (bro is so low maintenance) Nifty isn't allowed to have caffeine for obvious reasons Sir Pentious is another non-coffee drinker but drinks exclusively tea. Is a bit of a snob about it too. Needs the leaves to be fresh or he WILL be able to taste the burntness. His favourite is peppermint. Would rather die than bother the barista to remake it though so he normally brews his own with his own needlessly complicated tea making invention of course.  Cherri bomb loooooves caffine, but isn't much of a coffee drinker. More of a monster energy and redbull kinda gal. She needs something she can drink fast and hard. Don't even get me started on those 5 hour energy drinks. Oh boy. Don't let her near them (she will kill u for one) Vox is an avid coffee drinker. Practically lives off of it and can't get through the day without (it's a problem). Definately has one of those 'don't talk to me before I've had my coffee' mugs bc he's an asshole. Drinks like 5-6 cups in a single day. Send help. Velvette gets a coffee once in the morning and then one in the afternoon. Pulls up to the cash register with her sunglasses on and outfit for the day put together, intimidating buisness lady vibes off the charts while she orders between phone calls. Also definately shushes the barista of they try to ask her any questions, can't you see she's on the phone? Her order is LONG and COMPLICATED and she needs it made the way she likes to a T, she also talks fast and no she will NOT repeat herself so you better be a fast writer. Probably gets something vanilla flavoured with 3 shots of espresso in it. Valentino isn't a coffee guy but if he needs it for a long shoot or late night he gets either an Americano or pure espresso shots. No time to waste with the frills and fancy stuff despite the look of him. Also will throw the cup at the barista if the shots come out burnt or expired.

Last movie was Rebel Moon. A lukewarm disappointment.

Last Tv show is Slow Horses season 3. I looooove that show. I'm not usually one for spy stuff, but the hard british realism and fail-cringe sarcastic humour is just immaculate. Also watching Gary Oldman slurring on his minions all day long only to turn on a dime and become a blood thirsty monster the instant someone harms one of his joes is just. mwah. Chef kiss. It's also a very skillful adaptation, though I can't recommend the books to just anyone. They're fairly hard to read and deeply british.

last song: Well, I'm writing to BG3's OST. Last single song I listened to before that was OVERWERK's Night Shift from my electronica playlist.

sweet/savory/spicy: I'm big on all 3. I really enjoy spice, but I could not pick a favourite. I definitely have a sweet tooth, but I indulge more on savoury dishes.

The tree is up!

My ornaments are pins and buttons. I made this a couple years ago, and absolutely love it.

My hope was to make several more of these to list in the shop this year. That will have to wait until next year, which is fine by me. They take me about a week to make, start to finish. Excellent option for having a place to display your pin and/or button collection, and when yoy don't want to look at it, or simple put it away, roll it up and you're done.

The thing behind the sign is where the old doorbell noise came from. Any gifts we get will replace the boxes currently there. We have no closets, so all our mittens, hats, and scarves, as well as shopping bags, are in there. I would love to get a nice breathable storage bag thing to put all the cold weather things in, and fit it under the bed. The suitcase houses the postcards I don't have albums for. Soooo...it's impressively heavy.

Zoom in to see the buttons. Several are from @spiralhouseshop and @pangur-and-grim and others from Kickstarters I supported, gifts, stuff I acquired at cons I've attended, free comic book day, and a pre-ordered book. My husband gave me the Spiderman pin even though I can't watch the film it's associated with.

I need pins from:

Dragon Age - If I manage to acquire a large number of them, I'll make another tree quilt to fit the theme.

Flowers - they don't need to ve realistic! My favorite flower is daisies, but I would love some colorful wildflowers, even dried flowers pressed into buttons. @spiralhouseshop I'm gonna work on snatching up more of those next year.

More pins by @pangur-and-grim because I love how delightfully weird some of them are.

Birds - my favorites are penguins, hummingbirds, and peacocks. In that order.

Tea related - I collect teacups and mugs, and looooove tea. I intend to make a tea quilt for myself, quilted tea decorations for my living room and "dining" room. That room will house my quilting frame, The Monster (massive hutch) packed with machine quilting stuff, my growing collection of teacups, mugs, and teapots, as well as all my small selection cookbooks. Oh, and it currently has my tea and snack station. We dine in the living room.

Fairies - I collect fairies, but I'm a little picky about them. Punk/rock/goth are a nope, but garden/whimsy/Brian Froud are my favorite.

It would be funny if I made trees for each of those collections and rotated them through the month of December. Buuuuut I need the pins and buttons first.

Tree themes I plan on making ans selling in the future:

Halloween - a few, with different colors and prints, and experiment with embroidery and lace. Make some more playful and some more goth.

Traditional winter prints - snowflakes, blue/white, snowflakes, tree and holly. No Santa stuff.

Animals - cheetah/leopard print, pets

Mushrooms and Plants

Food

Beverages - a friend suggested I make at least one that's wine themed and another with coffee. Another wants one that's all beer.

Sports - my husband is a steelers fan, and I want to make one for his space.

Fantasy - dragons are always popular.

As for why I made this in the first place...

A real tree, unless kept in a pot, will simply die a slow death. That's depressing! Plus, messy. As they rot, they shed all over the place. Oh, and they're a fore hazard.

A plastic tree is made if plastic, requires manually building it, takes up space regardless of being on display or stored, and it's too much work.

Decorations are expensive and take up too much space when not in stored.

Until recently, we had cats (RIP), and they love climbing things and exploring. They would destroy all the work put into decorating a tree. Oh, and knock it over.

Ease and Convenience! I can just roll this up when not using it, and unroll it when I want to display it. A whole whopping three minutes. Most of the work is attaching the drapery clips to display it evenly. I don't even need to take the pins off. Between chronic pain and ADHD, this is ideal.

I can add more pins and buttons, remove them too (buttons will be more work), and even add some patches.

I can make these any color I want, use whatever prints and fabrics I fancy, and that makes me happy.

Chan decided not to call out and instead stood silently, far under the metal framed dome. He watched his young friend curl into himself, shivering alone on the rooftop as night stooped over. The moon was just beginning to appear and it cast a cold shard of light through the building’s disheveled walls.

“Hyunjin…” Chan breathed. He was heartbroken. He was despaired to see a brother of his in such intimate pain.

It was about time to gather everyone for sleeping arrangements so Chan had gone to round up the boys, but he decided to leave Hyunjin to himself a little longer. It wasn't easy; his impulse told him to sprint up the staircase to comfort his younger brother and convince him that their lives’ course wasn't doomed. He wanted to shake the kid’s bony shoulders and make promises he could stand on.

However, this time Chan ducked his head, stuffed a hand in his pocket, and padded back outside.

The air was unbreathable, toxic.

His eyes burned and watered so immensely that he could hardly make out where he was. Jisung felt around for a wall or rail to lean on, a firm substance to support him, but there was none. Rubbing his eyes rather aggressively, the boy ventured farther into a cluttered cell with a high ceiling.

There stood four run-down elevators. Jisung was a bit startled by the sudden urge to step inside the one centered in his field of vision, nonetheless he steadily parted the powerless doors and rotated on his heel to shut them again. He became frantic and examined the thin line of electric buttons by his side, trying to make sense of the English words.

Before he could press one, his mind began to swim, his senses numbing, and with his legs buckling under him, Jisung was yanked from the dream.

He awoke harshly with his arms crossed loosely over his chest, his body pressed down flat on its side. The heartbeat that hammered in his throat had ceased. His rapid breathing slowed and warm tears spilled down over his nose; his eyes were clear again. Jisung could finally see. Jisung could feel his achy legs, his sore fingers. He could hear the faint ruckus of traffic far off in the city.

He inhaled sharply, shakily rolling onto his back and causing the trampoline to lightly reverberate. A chain of questions and small fragments of the experience rolled inside his head. How had he dreamt so lucidly? What had caused him that anxiety? Why did he envision such a painful scene?

Jisung let out a puff of air and rubbed his eyes. He wasn't panicking anymore, he was calm. He was cold. Despite the amount of sheets and blankets that the boys were piled up in, the nightly chill still seeped into their skin. Jisung turned and pulled himself to the nearest body he could find, gingerly resting an arm over Hyunjin’s torso and pressing his forehead to the boy’s soft back. He sucked a breath in, closed his eyelids, and desperately pushed the event of his dream from his groggy mind, finding a light sleep.

“How long has it been?” Felix popped his head up to look over a desk at Changbin. He scanned a thick stack of molded envelopes, adjusting his neck scarf to cover his nose as he read them.

“Since this place was abandoned?” Changbin replied with a tilt of his head. “Only since last year.” He sat down on a rusted chair that whined under his weight; everything here was either crumbled to dust, molded until the air around it was unbearable, or destroyed by squatters, leaving close to nothing behind.

“Good thing Jeongin quit before doomsday,” Felix commented. “Wouldn't want to find his dead body in this school.” When Changbin threw a warning look his way, the boy drew his hands up in defense, expression showing no intention of joking around. “I really, really wouldn't want to. Besides, one more year of highschool would've done nothing for him at this point. We never knew it would be a waste of time but look around.”

Changbin knew he was absolutely right. It was a great decision to get Joengin out of school before the entire system crashed, before the government took full control, before the Sound Monster attacked and everything got worse. Changbin shivered. His eyes glided around the room. It looked incredibly surreal, tainted and dangerous. The roof could fall at any moment, the floor could give out right under them. What if they were found and charged? It was rare to confront a police officer in this unruly area, but there were still people in this world, and they wanted order.

“Basement's obliterated,” A chipper voice echoed down the hallway. Felix hurried over to check in with Minho, both of them tugging their masks down to communicate. “There's another one.”

Minho pulled out his phone to show the boys. Felix rested his forearm on Minho’s shoulder as Changbin shuffled to his side curiously. In the photo Minho stood with his hand out as if he was holding the dangling link of railing behind him. Just below there was a gaping hole that swallowed anything in its reach, chairs and shelves spiraling far down into the Earth.

“All the storage rooms were down there,” Minho explained ruefully, dragging his finger across the screen. “Including the one that Chan thought had our resources. It’s gone now.”

“When did this happen?” Changbin furrowed his brows. “I thought we were far enough away from the Sound Monster for a good few months…”

“We were supposed to be,” Felix rubbed his arm nervously as Minho sighed and stuffed the device in his bag. He turned to his hyung with concerned eyes. “I still trust Chan but…is he wrong?”

“Hush, hush,” Minho waved a hand with a scoff. “We still don’t know if the monster caused this. It could just be a natural sinkhole since the land here is decaying.” His words brought ease to the tense atmosphere, but worrying reality still groped at Changbin.

“Then- we’re done here, right?” In truth, he didn’t want to be here any longer than they needed to. None of them did.

“Well, did you find anything we can use?” Minho crossed his arms and followed Felix to the desk he had been scouring. He and Changbin had lined up every container, tupperware, cupboard, drawer and so on on this very surface.

“I looked through some written letters and bills, but we haven’t found anything else negotiating the subject of equipment sites or warnings. We’ll have to work with our own weapons unless we can scavenge someplace else.” Minho nodded slowly, gazing over the assortment of items while Felix’s hand hovered over each one. “Thankfully the janitor’s closet had some bucketfuls of screws though, and we finally found a drill.”

“Just no batteries,” Changbin huffed as the younger boy showed off his discovery.

“We’ll let the elements have this place then,” The oldest rubbed his temple with a nod. “Let’s hurry back for lunch.” Changbin was relieved to flee the death trap.

well you can't send me an ask like this an expect me not to rate each of them individually, but i assume you knew this. crafty, glasses! I'm gonna rate the primaries here but I'll rate the secondaries next. Only up to Silver Scent.

Arc 0: Unnamed Serial Killer

Cringe loser, no swag, no style, unmemorable, no standards. Died in an accident. 0/5.

Arc 1: Tasuku Iimura

Just kind of a big brute, somewhat sad backstory but doesn't really bring anything to the table. This arc isn't really about him though. 1/5.

Arc 2: Hyoue Satori

Total patsy. Basically irrelevant as his only real contribution was bankrolling a cooler, sexier villain. 1/5.

Arc 3: Takeru Asagi

We're starting to get somewhere. He's still fairly meh, but his MO and backstory are way more interesting than the previous villains and his genuine care for his daughter gives him a bit of heart. OFC, he pales in comparison to how amazing a character said daughter is, but I'll give him a point for trying. 2/5.

Arc 4: Gold Marie

LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOO!!!!!! I LOVE GOLD MARIE. Absolutely horrible and irredeemable monster, twisted in fun and unique ways, tragic backstory, gay, disgusting, and, well. Y'know. She's got. uh. well. Anyway, one of the best in the series, no question. 5/5.

Arc 5: The Rainy Day Killer

Hands down the most terrifying villain in the entire series and it's not even close. I get the creeps just looking at him. It takes a lot to be a monster in a world as monstrous as Murcielago's, but boy oh boy does he do it. Great backstory, too. Gonna give him a 4/5 just because of how SCARY he is.

Arc 6: Marie Misaka

Meh. This arc is more about Kuroko herself being the villain rather than this chick, so she barely gets any screentime and doesn't have much to offer. 2/5 cuz there's some implied gay shit at least.

Arc 7: Toukichirou Higaki

Mostly a vehicle for more interesting side characters. His fighting style is cool, but his ultimate goal of dying in battle doesn't have any real weight to it. Pretty forgettable. 2/5.

Arc 8: Shin Tatewaki

Boring villain from a boring arc. 1/5 cuz i think his scar looks cool.

Arc 9: Cobalt Conrad

A very solid mad scientist archetype. I think his relatively friendly and calm demeanor persisting throughout both arcs he's in is great and I like that he came back as a villain in the first place. His ultimately plan is pretty simple and I feel like more could be done with him, but given that we haven't seen the last of him I think there's a chance we'll get new stuff from him too. 4/5.

Arc 10: Kurono

YEAH BABY YEAH BABY LET'S GO!!!!!!!!! I LOVE KURONO!!!! Cool split personality ghost with probably the best fight in the entire series (due to the fact that Kuroko is hilarious throughout it) and sympathetic motivation make her extremely memorable. A lot of people rank Master Swordsman as their favorite arc, and while it's not my personal pick, scenes with Kurono make me understand exactly why so many people love it. 5/5.

Arc 11: Rose Marie

Best boy with one of the best arcs. I looooove TTDUP and how fucked up it is, and this weird conjoined cannibal queen is what makes it work. The second most unsettling villain after the rainy day killer as well. Easy 6/5, I would love if we got more villains like him in the future.

Arc 12: Comedy Writer

Easily the least threatening major villain and thus one of the least interesting. This is another arc where Kuroko eclipses the actual antagonist by a significant margin, so his only real noteworthy moment is when Kuroko kills the shit out of him. 1/5.

Arc 13: Hazuki Sendou

Gross. Loser. Doesn't deserve Zenpachi. Keep that in your pants, loser. 1/5.

Arc 14: Yuusuke Arima

A deeply tragic and sympathetic villain, and one who we get to know as a person far more than most other villains. Serial killer or not, I just felt really fucking bad for this guy. Not huge on his sudden double evil turn at the very end so I've gotta dock him a point for that, but I'm overall a fan. 3/5.

Arc 15: Mineko and Ayako

Honestly it was tough for me to decide which one of these two was the "main" villain so I ultimately decided to just go with both of them because hey, it's my list. My verdict is that they did literally nothing wrong and should not be held accountable for any crimes whatsoever. 5/5.

If you LIKE TOTK that's fine I don't need to tell you that, you don't need me to tell you that. I don't care or mind if people like things I don't but I also know sometimes it's hard to see people giving criticism towards things you like. I digress.

As a fan of BOTW, having experienced it first, I will say it's obviously impacted how I view TOTK. If TOTK came out with no history of BOTW it might have been a different story I honestly don't know. There are a lot of things I like about TOTK but they're mostly flavor and don't actually like matter ie they could've not existed in favor of major changes to make TOTK and BOTW more cohesive.

Things I like about TOTK:

-More unique horses, upgrading horses, more horse colors

-More enemies and a variety of enemies.

-More outfits for Link. Super fun and super creative on these ones. Love em!

-The IDEA, and almost idea ALONE, the depths and the sky islands. Didn't love how they played out

-Monster raid battles, they are fun! Once again, don't love how they played out though. I feel mostly neutral about them if not somewhat positive about them. Wish they wouldn't have put one right in front of Fort Hateno.

-Intractable dragons! Love the elemental dragon upgrade.

-Idea of a customizable house and the variety of parts you can put into the house plot.

-The ability to grab almost everything although I truly did not mind that being limited to just metal objects. I liked the restriction and felt it appropriately challenging. It could've just been an upgrade later in the game of magnesis. Ultrahand is FINE like I said. Have the ability to move normal boulders is nice but ultimately unnecessary. They built a game when you can move a boulder through game mechanics and physics and it was FUN.

-Anyway, Ultrahand was fine. I liked being able to move the horse carts.

-THE HORSE CARRIAGES and towing stuff that was 💯🤌♥️ a beautiful addition

-The idea of repairing things in Hyrule but ultimately a lackluster use and follow through in this too. Repairing the bridge to the rito village was super fun to me.

-The flora and fauna additions that WERE THERE.

-Caves!

-Bulbul frogs

-How inventory items have use now but! Once again once again there is a common theme here, I don't love how they actually implemented it. Not EVERY item needed a use tbh. It didn't, we didn't need that ability. It is wild to go back to BOTW and notice you can't throw items but not having to navigate that item menu is a fucking blessing. Throwing items and attaching them to arrows etc is super fun though.

-Some of the new missions were super fun

-Monster hit list missions!!!! Personal taste maybe but I looooove most hunting missions.

-Zelda and Dragon Zelda ngl that shit was cool but like exclusively that fact and nothing else related to that. No story line stuff or the ending or anything else

-BOSSES AND BOSS FIGHTS! AND and and refightable boss fights because ngl they DID go off with the boss fights. Really cool use of how large the game is plus the physics of the game.

-Wellssssss loved the wells

Ok!!! Not a comprehensive list but! I DO like things about TOTK. Am I still a hater yes absolutely I fucking hate like 80% of that game and things surrounding it. I really really do but there were some really pleasant things about it too. Just not enough to appease me for the things that in my opinion sucked ass and were intentionally bad decisions.

i got my cane weapon swinging ^_^ used offsets to add that in and it looks good.......

next steps im thinking are to convert the magnum to zscript add a flash to the firing sprite for it and then uhhhhhh like make the sprites look a lil better.... that starting period suckedddddd but im happy i stuck with this :) and then bigger scale stuff would be like learn the specifics of coding monsters and then like... then thats everything for that stuff id go onto learning how to use the mapping program and start doing that......
