i think the thing tho is that i believe the passion comes from a sincere place of love for the character. also i don't. personally feel comfortable or think it's productive to be calling people aggressive or snarky esp since given the nature of this being an anon ask to a public blog it's the equivalent of me accidentally lobbing a gossip grenade because i have no idea whose take this is throwing shade at. i'm not trying to be an ass or say that you're being shitty or anything. i just think the kind of forum (difficult given the nature of social media haha) for venting about that kind of thing is the personal dms of your friends yknow?

but yeah, the passion is mixed w the complicated fact that like. every miguel fan is essentially doing the equivalent of sharing one classroom together fshfkjd we're all squashed in the single character tag and inevitably you're going to run into people or takes that you just don't like or think aren't nuanced or whatever. god knows i don't agree w every single opinion on him i see and it's absolutely gotta be the same for other people back @ me and mine haha. and that's a good thing! variety is the spice of life and shit, and i personally think it's very valuable to be exposed to perspectives i haven't considered/don't agree w/partially agree w because that helps me reconsider and develop my own thoughts.

and he's a character that means a lot to a lot of different people for a lot of different reasons and so people (including myself lol) get very passionate about it and where you disagree w others, and that's fine. ultimately i think it's helpful to hit the bricks where you need to if things get aggravating and curate the spaces you interact w about the character as best you can.

We've covered what happens if Micaiah accepts Pelleas' command. The scene where Tauroneo kills him instead does not add much, though I do think it's interesting when Almedha insists it must have been Micaiah's fault her son died the response is "...". She doesn't deny it, even though she herself had just been crying over his body. idk idk there's a lot to unpack her without Almedha let's move on

Pelleas apologizes to Sothe and Miciah both for the trouble after handing Tauroneo the knife on NG+, asking Micaiah to give Almedha a ring and his love.

[ペレアス] ミカヤ… この指輪を母上に。▼ できれば…… 心より愛していましたと 伝えてほしい。▼ "Micaiah. This ring, give it to my mother. Tell her I truly loved her, please." [ミカヤ] ……っ……… ……………………▼ (a pained sound)

SO!!!!!! looking this over after initially lobbing the jp version of this scene at n i have MORE to say wahaha. Now that I'm not hastily translating it the already BANGER lines about Micaiah's pain meaning nothing to her contain so much more when accurately translated. It's not just that it's less painful because Pelleas isn't being sacrificed. Being stabbed by Tauroneo is literally less painful to her than hearing Pelleas plead for his death before her. Fuck me up.

[ペレアス] ………ミカヤ……▼ ……だけどっ！ 僕のせいなんだっ！！▼ あんな誓約をした責任を…… …せめてこの命で償いたい……▼ "Micaiah.... but still! All of this remains my fault. The responsibility of making that vow... I thought if I could atone for it with my life..."

I said in my last post I think Micaiah is angry at Pelleas here, and I stand by that. I think it's her anger that is allowing her to speak so frankly here. The adrenaline rush that led her to get in the knife's path and her words directly after it, I find difficult to interpret as anything other than an anger born of love. Don't get me wrong Micaiah's actions here could read as platonic but guess what kids my house my blog and 1. This scene being the cliche "realizing feelings too late" hits hard and good and i make the canon 2. Whoever shipped Micapell on the writers team WENT OFF during this exchange so i feel vindicated by you intsys employee. I see you.

To end this speel I do think the last lines are very telling of Micaiah's overall character, as well as her feelings for Daein. Not just Pelleas. The base conversation where Micaiah swears to Sothe she'd rather be like Ashnard than just if being just means having the people of Daein slaughtered is a direct continuation of this thought process, and I think it is a good example as - even if we lack many DB scenes - she continues to exist as their leader and beacon of hope. I think I'll talk more on this in another post but for now :salute:

first, have u ever considered writing a best friend’s brother fic? i can picture it with anyone u write, but fr i think san would stand out more for the role iykwim

also!! u don’t rlly write about the other members, is it because u find it harder to fit in one of ur works? or anything else?

this answer is gonna be long so i'm gonna add a cut.

first off, thank you so much for calling me sweet <3 it is really important to me that this blog feels comforting and welcoming (as much as a blog can be with the type of smut i post lol.) and that ppl can feel safe sending in questions or comments or even just random things about ateez or whatever.

as far as writing a best friend's brother, i haven't written that trope altho i've written reader sleeping with their brother's best friend with the idol taemin and my current seonghwa fic i am working on is also reader with brother's best friend. i just haven't gotten any inspiration to write best friend's brother yet, i just kinda go wherever my brain takes me lmao. altho that trope does sound fun! def a lot of promise for something smutty and enjoyable lol.

as for why i don't write about other members, it isn't anything against them. i love every single member of that group, they are my comfort and a source of great joy for me. but my brain leans into seonghwa because, when it comes to idols, he is just very special to me. i feel a kinship with him (as much as one can with an idol you know from a distance) in that he is oftentimes the caretaker (as the older sister, i relate.) he is extremely considerate, thoughtful, kind, and loving. i love that he is so open with his emotions that he isn't afraid to cry openly (not to get too personal on this blog but i cry a lot whenever i feel the need to since its healthy to do so) and his dedication to ateez and atiny touches me. on top of that, i think he is an incredible performer and he has an energy to him on stage that speaks to me. and of course, i find him just...insanely attractive.

because of all those reasons, he ends up being my muse and my inspiration for my fics. when my brain lobs me an idea for a fic, it is typically tied to hwa. if i swapped hwa out for another member, it wouldn't feel "the same" in my brain and therefore i believe the work would suffer for it if that makes sense.

i have gotten asked before, on and off this blog, about when or why i won't write for other members to the point where sometimes i catch myself debating if i should swap hwa out for someone else for a fic due to demand. but then i think that is a disservice not only to the member i'd swap with, who wouldn't be getting the proper treatment i give all my fics and characterizations, but also to myself as a writer who is now writing for the blog vs writing for myself and then posting it on the blog on the off chance others might enjoy what i write.

i've also said this before but it bears repeating because it is truly important to me but writing is me. writing is my heart, my soul, my joy and my passion since i was around six years old. it's saved my life, it's given me purpose, it's given me a happiness nothing else has. i write these fics because of the pure joy it gives me and i try very very hard to stick to that and share the stories to hopefully give others comfort and a place to escape to during moments of their life where they want to shut the world out. so i stick to writing mostly hwa because that is where my heart and creativity lies and my work is better for it! <3
