Hc him as someone who was close to pickman before he turned into netherwalker.

(Probably an art collector?? Fellow artist? )

He enjoyed the paintings/many unique statues made by him. When the abyss took over pickman, mike was too far gone in wonder to really notice the changes to his friend, similar to pickman erosion took over his body leaving behind a husk of a shell that was once vivacious and charming.

They started calling those who choose to walk the path of the void, netherwalkers.

While mike never had direct contact with the abyss apart from the art that his old friend made, he was blessed with the chance after joining the group of investigators (coa3 cast) in their journey to learn more about it. Here he meets patchwork (one of the officers in charge of investigating the abyss) mike didn't show signs at first, only showing curiosity and having the money to help fund the investigation into the abyss, he was more than happy to comply with the condition he could also tag along to the expedition, whiplash was against it - who knows first hand how the abyss erodes you.

To each visit that they made to the abyss mikes facade slowly cracked, but it seemed like he never lost his way

the abyss slowly corrupts you, a slow burn of wanting to take u for itself.

The only thing that was probably different about mike was how he was always in presence of the abyss/remnant of the abyss idk, accidental or not mike realised that the paintings pickman drew were all things that he'd seen on the other side,

This is what drove him to insanity.

His obsession towards beauty, perfection, and fame. Mike didn't know at the time but a bud started blooming in the place of his beating heart.

A bloom of spite. (The crowd goes wilde)

The seeds that the void planted in his heart slowly grew everytime he set foot towards the abyss, the more he didn't want to leave.

He wasn't someone who would've been missed.

All the last traces of his family left him to follow the void. Why shouldn't he do follow as well.

However, the vessel that the abyss chose to corrupt to take this time around was someone who had a will of iron. He fought for control over his body as the parasite that leached on to his warmth stuck to him outside of the abyss, always bringing a piece of the void with his soul as he continued his daily routine (tried)
