whenever people talk about "how am i supposed to explain this to my young [2-7 yo] child ?!" i think about my preschool teacher when i was 3 who had shoulder-length raven hair and pale skin and wore dark purple lipstick and heavy eyeliner every day and how i didnt remember any of that. all i really remember(ed) of her physical appearance was her dark hair and her bright green eyes. until a couple years ago when i was going through a bunch of childhood stuff my mom had saved and i saw our class photo and looked at her and was taken aback by how she looked lmfaoooo. i was lowkey obsessed with her as a toddler yet i never seemed to notice she was an actual grown up goth girl 💀 all i remembered was the love she had for me/us and the love i/we had for her (which is the point of this anecdote)
