I actually expected this to come around at some point, and I am surprised it didn't come around sooner.
I would like to address it. Witch hunters! Put ya pitchforks down because I am not doing this to argue or attack one of my community.
I have some close non binary friends. Some are more masculine and some are more feminine, and proud of it
For the celestials in beyond the stars...I worked closely with LaurenCreates (one of my non binary friends) to design the celestials to each have a completely unique and diverse body type that can be connected to any gender. Lauren helped me with this since they have a far better understanding than I do.
Sparkles- feminine beautiful and shamelessly flirty
Zappy- hench as fuck, masculine, confrontational and protective
Frost- shy timid and doesnt really have any standout gender characteristics...I worked with lauren on this to make sure it looks as non binary as possible.
Is that not a good mix? Don't gender neutral peeps still have a body shape and personality?
I personally think lauren and I did a good job of it, but not everyone is going to be happy.
As for saying it's clear wrote them as being female. I'm sorry, but that is your interpretation. It's been wonderful seeing such a range of people with different genders identifying with one of the celestials. I believe I worked hard to represent them as M4A characters and did their characters justice...I don't quite know what parts made them stand out as female, but I highly doubt I will find out.
There are a few serieses that I wrote as M4F because it flowed easier for me personally...I do tend to quality check my M4A audios with others to get their opinions and I have made alterations to do right by them
Yandere werewolf
Carnival chaos
The thirst for the feral audios
Alpha claw (Grey is a badass punk werewolf mofo)
Therian (he literally calls them HOOMAN and wouldn't even care about gender specifics aslong as his mighty self is fed)
Shadow court apprentice (I believe deary is a gender neutral term...I've seen fan art from non binary fans of their listener)
Atrocity (Little Love is a non binary icon!)
Dead rose (you're a dark elf who doesn't give a fxxx about gender)
Tales of the femyurai (you're a literal fairy tiger)
My Gotcha! Audios
These are some of my series that I take pride in writing as M4A audios...I believe they represent M4A well, but I haven't just assumed that...I always ask my people (who know better than I do) if it does them justice before they make the cut.
If at any point they don't and any VAs who do these better think there's room for improvement...please feel welcome to DM me and help me learn...I am not as resistant to feedback as some may think...I just wanted to say my piece because no doubt there's someone who's read this anon and instantly assumes I butcher everything M4A without even listening 😅
So...yeah...that's my piece...if anyone wants to throw hate my way then you do you boos...I'm no stranger to it 😝
For whoever wrote this...please know that I do try.. im not always going to hit the mark with everyone, but I do appreciate you for giving my stuff the time of day and hopefully I get it right in your eyes at some point.
L8AZ!
The misuse of the M4A tag is a huge issue within the ASMR community, but the one that mainly comes to my mind, is scythe audio. Now before I continue, two things: one, this is my opinion; two, this is out of the people that I watch; I'm sure there are hundreds, if not thousands, of people who do it a thousand times worse than he does. I don't want any kind of hate pushed towards him; he's an amazing VA, and despite this, I do enjoy his content. I just wish he didn't misuse the M4A tag. With that done, I will continue. From what I've watched of his content, the worst example of this is in his series: Beyond the Stars. because even though all of the different points of view have been tagged as m4a. (except for one, which is tagged M4f). Despite being tagged as m4a, they clearly aren't. If you look at the designs of the characters that are supposed to represent the listener, they are clearly extremely feminine and meant to look as such, and the writing that is used to describe the listeners as well within the content itself also shows that it's not exactly meant for listeners that aren't female. If it was just stated as such, just straight-up tagged as M4F, I wouldn't care; if he's not comfortable voicing and/or writing for non-female listeners, that's fine. it's his channel; he can post what he wishes. not my gripe at all. I just wish, as I said before, he didn't misuse the m4a tag. because if you look at other VAs with truly M4A content, and you look at his "M4A" content, there is an obvious difference. the only series of his that I have seen that doesn't have this issue. is where the listener is a literal cat—it's kind of hard to gender that. Like I said, I don't want any hate towards him; I do genuinely enjoy his content. I just wish he didn't misuse it, as I said. (sorry if I'm repeating myself, and sorry this is long.)
