random question inspired by my general disdain for The Holidays™: what's Christmas like in the Philippines? I'm extremely fed up with how most Americans celebrate it so I'd be super interested to hear about how another culture does it. :D (if you don't mind, of course!) Feel free to infodump as much or as little as you like :)))
WAAAAA I'd love to!! Also that's totally understandable OOF, but yes I'd gladly talk about it!!!
So I hope this doesn't come as a disappointment but the Philippines is a pretty Americanized country, but of course there are still many key differences in our traditions! For one, which you might have heard LOL, we start preparing for Christmas all the way in September (as in, Christmas decorations start going up already, and Christmas music starts playing in the malls). Generally we don't celebrate Thanksgiving since it's an American holiday and we don't care as much about Halloween, so it's not like a WHOLE THING like it is in America (I was surprised to learn how big of a deal it is over there LOL!).
We have this celebrity who's also a beloved Filipino meme, Jose Mari Chan, who basically is like, the harbinger of Christmas here. Like months in advance we'll have memes pop up occasionally saying stuff like "Ready na ba kayo?" (are you ready yet??) and things like that LOL. Here's some of my favorite examples:
("I'm just warming up")
(explanation and translation: we have a famous Filipino Christmas song that starts with, "Whenever I see girls and boys selling lanterns on the street...", which is what Jose Mari Chan is starting to sing LOL, then the guard is saying, "Sir, seniors aren't allowed to go out." (this was made during pandemic times HAHAHA)
And a personal favorite:
LOLLL
Also since the majority of the Philippines is Catholic that plays a huge factor in it too. Another tradition that's mainly Catholic (so I haven't ever actually participated in it) is called simbang gabi, which is basically nine days of mass before Christmas. Then on Christmas Eve the final mass is called Misa da Gallo. It's basically a way for everyone to prepare for Christmas!
Another big thing about Philippine Christmases (although I'm sure a bunch of other cultures do this too LOL including Americans), we a lot of the time celebrate Christmas with our extended families (both sides during different times if possible!), since, you know, family is very important to us!! Us younger ones will usually go around to the adults to "bless" them, or do "Mano po" (basically press the back of their hands to our foreheads which is like, a traditional sign of respect) to all the adults, and a lot of time we get angpao (money inside those little red Chinese folders) tee hee hee! And a lot of the time we get more specific gifts from our ninongs and ninangs (god fathers and god mothers) (yes sometimes we have multiple no I can't really explain why HAHA). And if we're blessed to have them, all the cousins hang out and do whatever we like while the adults mingle (sometimes we go to the bedroom of whichever cousin's family is hosting the gathering)—I have very fond memories of those times.
But I think one of the bigger differences is that we don't have our official celebration on Christmas morning—we actually celebrate the night before, on Christmas Eve! We like to prepare for our Noche Buena (also a Spanish tradition LOL, it's basically a special Holiday feast) for the whole day, then we wait for 12am to strike, then THAT'S when we start eating and playing games and of course opening presents. It's such a fun time and I've spent multiple Christmases up late until the sun rose reading my new books or something. From what I know most families here stay home during the rest of Christmas day resting and enjoying the time with their own families.
We also do Christmas caroling differently. Idk how it works in America but in the Philippines random groups of kids go around to houses to sing Christmas songs for money. Sometimes they have makeshift instruments, occasionally a guitar and tambourine. They aren't always that good HAHA but they do their best, and they have a lot of fun doing it (my siblings and I did it once!! It was a lot of fun).
We also have a traditional Christmas decoration, called the paról. It's basically these star-shaped paper lanterns, and they're beautiful!
We also may play games like Pinoy Henyo (similar to charades, basically a paper with a word is placed on yours or your teammates forehead and you/your teammate need to help them guess what the word is, answering questions like is it a person?? animal?? place?? etc., getting more specific until you figure out the word), Bring Me (basically you need to be the first to bring the item, for example: bring me a wallet! A lot of parents usually help the kids by giving their own things LOL), and Longest Line (basically you need to make the longest line only using things you're wearing) (yes some guys have taken off their shirts, sometimes people just lie down in the line LOL). It's a lot of fun.
So in conclusion, while, like with any country, we can also be prone to commercialism, Christmas is a lot of fun in the Philippines, at least for me!
Anddd that's mostly it I think!!! thank you so much for this ask!! I was really excited to answer when I got it lol!! I'm sorry it took a while tho, I wanted to let my friends check to see if what I said was accurate (because I am uncertain like that LOLL). I really enjoyed answering it too so thank you and I hope it was interesting!!!

October 25 2023
ok! hello! back to regular blogging. if you weren't aware i'm now hosting the old blog on tumblr so this should be easier for me to update than manually adding to the html and dealing with archiving past posts. best part is you can barely tell save for the photos are handled a bit odd now o_<;;
so i'd like to catch up on errrrr Feb to October LOL a whole year practically. lets see what i've been up to...
did wondercon in Anaheim, uh then KawaiiKon in Hawaii. spent some extra time there afterwards as well, I always enjoy snorkeling ^_^ you regularly see many turtles but i even saw a pufferfish! honolulu is nice and walkable if you've got sun protection! plus lots of other people also walk around with a parasol so nobody heckles you for it (like where I live :|||) their bus service is decent as well. i had a pretty greasy plate lunch the first day i was there so it had my stomach upset like, the whole time ;_; did an escape room with friends for the first time that was pretty fun! unfortunately kawaiikon's moved to being juried and apps are not even open yet ??? so no guarantees i'll be back next year :/
also did another Las Vegas con, it was meh. i don't care for the organizers of this one they steal art for their advertising, overcharge for tables, and then put us next to a loud ass stage. don't like that! i'd already done Omegamart the year before but i was staying in Freemont which i've never visited. i'll be back very soon and hopefully get to Nevada early enough in the day to visit Goodsprings bc you know I am a New Vegas girlie ehehe. also did an Anime Impulse back in Anaheim. I usually don't care for them for the same reasons as those other organizers but at least the crowd is better! this past january one they stuck us in a leaky barn ;_; for the table price its pretty ridiculous but i always come back despite it all because the attendees treat me well lmao
left off with pins last time, but since then got shirts made! there's two designs, my "fallen angel" girlie and my cherubim design.
you can see them off to the side there, this is my booth Colossalcon East in Pennsylvania this September. super fun! great con, lovely weeby people in PA! along the top you can also see some of my new big prints i made in like 3 weeks. just drawing drawing drawing -w-!! this con i also got to meet Grey DeLise/Griffin and she signed my Azula print for me hehe <3
my plane ride home got delayed for thunder which was stressful bc immediately after i had a flight to Japan! eek! this was my second time going this year. i had been in 2022 right when it reopened to tourists so it was a much different experience this time, wayy more tourists about. ended up arriving right at the peak of a heat wave i took it easy though just doing some figure shopping and enjoying the food. i love family restaurants there so much lmfao they're so good and cheap. also met up with a friend from all the way back in middle school who also happened to be in shibuya the same night ??? made her and her partner go to Denny's with us later on lol! also visited Odaiba and Hakone this time on my birthday! Hakone is where Evangelion's Tokyo-3 is meant to be based in so they've got their own EVA store. I got a Unit 02 strawberry drink thing, should have got the matcha-taro swirl Unit 01 soft serve icecream >:)
got back and did some house keeping up until i found out there's a halloween party! i made a very quick costume out of stuff i had lying around. only spent like 5$ for some plastic fake chains. here's my alice (sans chains ofc) i made that apron in like a day out of an old pillowcase -w-;;; i don't sew much!! maybe i would be good at it if i bought plenty of fabric and followed instructions but we'll never know because i only try it out to make something silly with no pattern using scraps all in 1 day and then i get fed up and start using hot glue and hem tape. as one does! its got a little bow in the back too but i had no interfacing so its just a piece of printer paper giving it shape. this is what halloween is about!!
please ignore the background i'm in the middle of painting my bathroom lol
up next i've got Sin City Anime in Las Vegas and Kumoricon in Portland. i like these two, completely different vibe and size but Sin City was cozy last year (they've since moved soo well see ??) and Kumori has some interesting people lmfao. i will see you guys at the swap meet +w+!! for sin city they asked if i'd be interested in an extra free booth for the 18+ lounge event and i was like ok sure why not and come to find i'm like one of 5 tables??? i don't know how it'll go over but whatever its something to do! i will have my tres leches cows and some new ones...here's a preview!
whole milk is soOoO popular i'm so happy lmfao he is for the girls and the gays <3 i've got to do some more boys....its what the people want. maaybe a whipped cream to go with whipping ? ^_^ <3!
alright that's all for now! ttyl!

Right around the top of September, Facebook likes to remind me about once upon a time, a long long time ago, when Linzy was starting school.
And there are plenty of 1st Day of School memories.
Interestingly, this year Linzy 'n I kicked off the month at The Willows were she had a gig and I had truffle fries and we ran into an old friend from summer camps, Chris. :-)
As with a lot of our months this year, while Linzy 'n I kick it off at one of her gigs, Kimmer's with family on her regular monthly southern California visit to care for her aunt and hang out with her cousin who's legitimately the most brother of a brother she has.
September was also about coming to grips with the fact that we've been back for three months now after living on Capitol Hill for four years. September was the month we actually started walking out our front door to embark on neighborhood walks. Since we've been away for a while, we want to see how this place has changed. We also want to simply remember places and people we know. We still enjoy talking to neighbors from other neighborhoods and paying specific attention to this pinpoint of earth on which we live as well as the places nearby.
It's definitely one way to make the world smaller.
There's another one we'll get to, of course, in a moment.
One of the things about Fall I pointed out before is that it's a series of major holidays.
How do I know they're major?
Well, because there's a Vince Guaraldi soundtrack for all three: Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Each of which, of course, has its own Charlie Brown special devoted to it.
September, though, is an unofficial fourth holiday month.
Wait. What's the holiday?
Glad you asked. Because the holiday is our wedding anniversary, this year celebrating the 31st one. A helluvan accomplishment for a coupla high energy kids growing up in proximity like particles in a particle accelerator speeding in opposite directions along the same circular path.
Something like that.
Basically, our paths crossed, kept crossing, and the subsequent colliding of particles, the subsequent smashing of atoms, the subsequent relationship that resulted, held fast.
Like I said, it's a helluva thing.
This year, Kimmer was thinking about our anniversary, our 31st wedding anniversary, and she started thinking about a 7-day Universal Studios vacation celebration during the week of our anniversary. So she asked what I thought and I said Yes! before the question was fully out of her mouth.
It was a thoroughly epic, massively relaxing vacation. Maybe the best peace/adrenalin balance we ever achieved on a theme park vacation. In a nutshell, it's achieved by doing fewer rides each day and making sure that, of those fewer rides, they're the top of your list. Which preserves those experiences and allows plenty of time for strolling, taking time, relaxing, peace, and one more thing:
Surprises.
Like this one that seemed to form out of thin air:
youtube
It's a hellava story I captured in my September 20 post if you'd like to hear the whole thing. And trust me.
You do.
😘
youtube
Each of our days of vacation were incredibly long in the best way possible. It was more than 24 hours packed into each 24-hour day that somehow left plenty of room for adrenalin experiences and relaxing experiences without feeling rushed. Without feeling exhausted. Without needing a vacation...
For our vacation.
There's a ton to appreciate and definitely I wrote it all down. In a nutshell though, I'd point out "Thunderstruck" at Margaritaville, the massive lightning shows that were on display most nights and, of course, Harry Potter.
Fun and relaxation in the water was also a big deal along with a singular massively epic fail on a water ride during which we thought we might dodge a thorough dunking.
But we did not.
We got soaked.
The dunking was so thorough and unexpected, we literally had to step into a people dryer afterward.
It was an incredible vacation across everything we wanted to experience (and even those few things not on our bucket list that happened anyway).
And yes.
It felt like more than a week of vacation.
The best.
😁
Interestingly, Linzy 'n I finished the month the way we began it: at one of her gigs. Afterward, we had the lovely opportunity to order a cup of creamy ice cream and stroll around the neighborhood at night whilst we partook of unique creamy flavors and enjoyed each other's company.
Of course it always comes to pass that while we're at one of these gigs at the top or bottom of the month, Kimmer's inevitably in southern California with family.
This time around, though... there's a plot twist.
This photograph and the two below were taken at the top of April of this year. Kimmer's aunt Jacquie wasn't super articulate but we could still see her personality. Feel it. This is, in fact, my favorite memory of Jacquie, a combination of this version of her in this place. This is a courtyard under the shade of trees. It's comfortable, a kind of oasis even in summer when the outside world heads into the 90s and broaches the 100s.
When I think of Jacquie, I think of her here.
But then.
But then at the beginning of last week, Sunday maybe, Jacquie fell and hurt herself. By Tuesday that injury declared itself to be a broken hip, making surgery inevitable and soon. This wasn't exactly like her husband in the first days of this year when we were down in southern California within twelve hours of getting the news of his death. This...
Was a process.
So Kimmer had a couple days to figure out the best path forward before getting on a plane last Thursday without a return ticket.
Without a return ticket?
Yeah. Too many question marks in the air. She'd just have to wing it. She'd have to advocate for her aunt to the medical/surgical team as her aunt's circumstance evolved. She'd have to continue her doctoral studies on the fly. She'd have to see clients online from her cousin's place or a hotel.
Basically, she was taking The Kimmer Show on the road, in a way... indefinitely.
Fortunately, Jacquie seemed to recover from her surgery with more cognition onboard, not less. There's more of her present. More personality. More lucidity. She's able to articulate more.
She's got some of her Muchness back.
Not all of it. But it's breathtaking to witness when you're convinced it's all gone.
More incredibly, on the first day after Jacquie's surgery, she was in her room, Kimmer was out in the hall, Jacquie needed something from Kimmer and so called Kimmer's name.
That, by the way, was information we all knew to be gone. Just as our names are gone. Oh sure, Jacquie may know that she knows us without knowing names or relationships or history... you can see that understanding in her eyes. But we all know the specifics of who we are to Jacquie are irretrievably gone.
Except...
She shouted Kimmer's name.
Somehow... that information was available again. It hadn't been erased.
It hadn't been erased. It had spent all this time hiding from Jacquie's conscious awareness.
Damn.
Still...
Our conversations across this last week aren't my favorite. We all know we're somewhere near the end without being able to see it. So yes. We have talked about memorial services. We have talked about eulogies. We've talked about the end without knowing where it is.
The reason for that is twofold:
Jacquie's recovering into a version of herself with more cognition.
And she's in the right place.
You see the other significant task for Kimmer down here was finding the right hospice care for Jacquie. And she did.
She found it.
She found a place closer to her cousin's home. And she found the right people to walk this last mile with her aunt.
To walk this last mile.
With her aunt.
Because of that, because these are the right people, the ambiguity, the uncertainty, the not knowing... is okay. Is more than okay. No matter how long or short this last mile turns out to be.
Are we thankful for that?
Oh dear God in heaven.
Yes.
😊
So that's it for September.
Nine down.
Three to go in 2023.
Onward!

Hello lovely. ❤️ Can I get amber, hearth, and Yule for the asks pretty pretty pls and thank you?
For you? Anything. All. The world.
Amber - what's something you do every day?
Pull a tarot card before going to bed. It's my little five-minute ritual at the end of the day where I think about the day through the lens of that card. It means I'm taking a look over my day consciously and addressing anything that might worry me or let myself linger in a good moment. It helps me sleep. If I do this before bed, there's less of a chance of a memory surprising me as I drift off only to bolt me awake. I also make sure to look at my tudu list, mark off things I've accomplished, and make sure I know what's coming up in the following day.
Hearth - ideal home?
The one I'm in now is pretty great. We own it and SO bought it dirt cheap and locked in a good rate for us. That doesn't sound like a big deal, but the fact that my mortgage payments are low means I can afford to prioritize happiness in my job over salary. And I have my dream job, with money enough for travel, gifts, donations, and savings. It IS very small. But. The whole back half is built on a crap foundation and needs to be replaced someday. And when we do that, we'll add another story. Since the garage faces a weird angle and is impossible to park in, SO (a carpenter in his day-job) turned it into a rehearsal studio, with a sprung-wood floor, air conditioning, pin-board walls... it means I don't have to spend money on rehearsal space rental and can pay my actors more and means I can afford to make my own work. Beyond that, we're both creatives and have really enjoyed remaking the house. SO has done a beautiful inlaid floor and built-in bookshelves in our tiny library. He knocked down walls and got very good at tiling making our tiny bathroom into a cathedral for ablutions. The whole house has in some way been improved by him. Since we like to make things with what we find, it's very eclectic, lots of materials coming free from the ReStore and home-material recycling services as well as odds and ends left over from his job sites. It's not much, but it's us and it's home.
Yule - what's one wish you have for this holiday season?
Sorry, this took a sour turn. It gets hopeful though.
Autumn Asks
A nice reason not to have to spend Thanksgiving with my family. Christmas too, if I can swing it. I love them, but they have a way of sucking all the joy and fun out of a holiday. The best Christmas I can remember was 2020--an hour of zoom and it was done and then SO and I watched movies and cuddled on the couch and ate sweets. Perhaps that's why I love Halloween so much. To me, it's a very quiet, introspective holiday that does not involve traveling to familial obligations.
Hmm.
Perhaps...perhaps I should amend this to be more positive. I guess if I could redo this wish, it would be to find a way to make Thanksgiving and Christmas joyful again. I think I got off to a good start last year when some passive agressive behavior from my mom finally broke me and I told my dad that I was setting boundaries and not spending the night anymore. I live 90 minutes away. Why deal with mom if I can just go home and sleep in my own bed and the dog can be in our house and not relegated to their garage? That's what I want. I wish for a Christmas when I can show up, hug my nephews, give them presents, and then leave when they all do. SO goes to his family down south for Christmas so that means I'd get a very silent night. That. That sounds like bliss. That's my wish right there.

Interview
BB: welcome back everyone! So good to see you all here today! We're back for a 3rd time here on BB Channel! Like before we're joined by the lil cuties of Ed and Mari. But this time their parents have come to join!
Rex: hello...
Quetz: Hola!
BB: that wasn't a very strong greeting Rex!
Rex: I'm tired right now. Can't this wait?
BB: time waits for no one and neither does BB!
Mari: already this is super annoying! *sigh* so why'd you decide to bring them into this anyways?
BB: the people who follow this blog need to see how they're doing so long after Chaldea too! You two have had the spotlight for a while, so now you should share.
Ed: I mean... guess that's fair.
Mari: should anyone be dealing with this?
Rex: I'd rather not be here either.
BB: aaaww, don't be like that! This will be fun!
Quetz: that's a very hard sell BB.
BB: just humor me at least.
Rex: ...fine
Quetz: what are we even doing anyways?
BB: some of your interdimensional buds have sent in questions about how you guys are doing, and I'm here to get those answers for them!
Quetz: that actually sounds nice...
BB: what'd I tell ya!?
Rex: yeah yeah, pls get started.
BB: fine. First few are from my precious bombardier beetle! First one she asks: do you have any pets?
Mari: oof! Do we!
Rex: currently we have four dogs: 1 German Shepherd named King, a Pitbull named Sparks, a Dogo Argentino named Duke, and a Corgi named Marshmallow.
Quetz: but also we have a habit of adopting older dogs who aren't likely to get a home because of their age or rescues to give them a nice place to stay.
BB: aaawww, well ain't that wholesome?
Mari: we also have mom's bigass pterosaur!
BB: less wholesome. Next one from my dear yellowjacket: favorite foods?
Rex: PIZZA!
Mari: CAKE!
BB: whoa! Pump the brakes you two! No need to get too excited!
Quetz: ...honestly? I don't really have a favorite food. Just a bunch I like to eat and some I don't. If I had to choose, I'd say chocolate.
Ed: I'm a steak man myself.
BB: 2 sweets, and 2 savories. Next up! Who wakes up earliest?
Rex: Quetz
Ed and Mari: Mom
Quetz: ...I guess it's me... hehehe.
BB: honestly I'm not surprised. She's so damn athletic and even used to be a professional.
BB: next! Where do you all like to go for vacations and such?
Ed: mom and dad have a vacation home in Alaska.
BB: Alaska?! Why?
Mari: when warm weather is the norm for you it's nice to go to the cold to change things up.
Rex: yeah, it's actually very nice. Not too many people and beautiful nature sights.
BB: well to each their own. Another from my dear antlion: how long does it take to pick a movie or TV show to watch?
Quetz: hehehe, we're all so indecisive it takes ages to pick. It's not uncommon for us to give up after taking so long.
BB: you should work on that. This next one's interesting. My precious army ant also suggests a round of common household jobs and the like from each member.
Rex: hmmm
BB: she gave an example of like, who does the cooking?
Quetz: well it's both me and mi amor in that case. The kids aren't very creative.
Ed: hey! We're plenty creative!
Mari: no we're not, don't lie.
Rex: we only really ask that the kids clean their rooms and any messes they make. We handle most everything else.
BB: they should really show some independence tho. Can't coddle them forever.
BB: in the next one, Cadence asks about a house tour and if there's a jacuzzi.
Quetz: a house tour feels like it should be it's own thing.
Rex: yeah, but we do have a jacuzzi dude, so don't worry.
BB: next one's from Reen: she asks what would life be if you weren't in chaldea,
Rex: y'mean like now? I mean... it's a relatively normalish domestic life? With less work tho.
Quetz: si, I've made plenty from my lucha career before retirement we don't have to worry about money much. But mi amof still makes money just in case.
BB: well after that she asks: how was your life before and after meeting each other?
Rex: ...kinda sad. Aside from chaldea and saving the world, I was kinda just... stagnant. Go to work, go home and so on. Not much to my life before then.
Quetz: ...honestly, for me it was the same. After the age of Gods ended we didn't do much of anything. We mostly watched over humanity, I've been summoned in modern day before but that was rare and infrequent.
Rex: ...after I met Quetz tho... I dunno things felt... better? She kinda forced her way into my life after I summoned her and... I was more then ok to accept her... before long we had something beautiful...
Quetz: aww, mi amor! I'm so happy to hear that!
BB: ain't that sweet? Like me and my dear centipede. Final one from Reen: if you could build a dream home then where? (Can be in fantasy)
Rex: I mean... where we are now is good.
Mari: yeah, right at the border of a huge rainforest in the Yucatan sounds fine.
Ed: but what about the fantasy bit?
Quetz: hmmm... we don't really look at fantasy much. But maybe a castle of some kind?
Rex: or a Mayan temple? But with electricity and Wi-Fi.
BB: that's fair. Need those memes in your life. Now some from Kaz! First she asks: what kind of gifts do you give each other?
Rex: uuhh, well I like getting mi corazon custom things. Like some personal clothes, or even a portrait of the two of us.
Quetz: ehehehe, I like to spoil mi amor with extravagant things! Golden treasure and the like!
Mari: concerning...
BB: next, how would you spend the day if it's raining outside?
Rex: I actually enjoy rainy weather, so I like to chill near a window or even on the porch listening to the rain.
Mari: it's very soothing.
BB: how quaint. Last one from Kaz: whose good at cooking and baking?
Quetz: hehehe, that'd be me. Tho it might be considered cheating since I use my goddess power to help.
Mari: well no one else is the greatest normally so it's fine.
BB: a good 'ol better then nothing kinda attitude! Now we're back to Cadence but with more relaxed questions: what's the current house look like?
Rex: ....big.
Mari: like three stories tall with a DEEP basement.
Ed: like... 5 rooms too many.
Quetz: we also have an indoor pool.
Rex: the outside looks almost gothic, but partially taken over by nature.
BB: all this near a rainforest?
Quetz: si! Despite the size, all the nearby trees still tower over it.
BB: nature can get scary. I've seen worse and have been worse but still. Another one: how do family events function? Any specific holidays?
Quetz: ...most family events are just us... going somewhere nice to eat nice food...
Rex: do they mean bringing extended family? My family lives too far to visit often
Quetz: ...and I'd rather not speak of mine... things have gotten rocky as of late.
Mari: right, well for holidays we celebrate most standard one, like Easter and valentine's and such. For October we kinda try to combine Halloween and Day of the dead.
Ed: but Christmas is the most important for us! Mom and Dad always make the biggest celebrations for Christmas!
BB: gotta love the holidays! Especially when your mom is santa... still weird to say that. Next one! Any plans for the future?
Rex: eh... not really? I mean I want to prepare Maria to continue the family magecraft, since Ed has no interest.
Mari: someone has to continue on this lost practice.
BB: good to know it won't be lost to time like we thought. Next one! Daily life?
Rex: I wake up, eat, work on magecraft, spend family time, spend time with Quetz, go to bed.
Quetz: I wake up, workout, eat, workout, spend time with mi familia, lovely time with mi amor and then I sleep.
Ed: I wake up, take a walk, eat, practice soccer, spend family time, sleep.
Mari: sleep, sleep again, dragged to breakfast by mom, eat, eat again, mess with magecraft, eat, sit with everyone else, scroll thru my phone for hours, sleep.
Quetz: *sigh* mija, you need to change your priorities.
Mari: mmmmm... No.
BB: bad habits there Mari. Next they'd like to know if your in contact with anyone from chaldea? Other then me!
Rex: here's a real quick list: Marie, Mash, Kiara, Penth, Astraea, Martha, Ishtar, Gorgon, Jalter, The twins, your kids BB, etc etc.
Quetz: too many to list...
BB: nice you haven't lost contact! Next! About that Wedding?
Rex: well... it was eventful to say the least. Not long after completing the china LB. Most of the servants were invited, and most of Quetz's family showed up.
Quetz: si, Martha officiated it for us. Most of my family were so nice at the time... too bad that hasn't lasted.
Rex: let's not mention that...
BB: it was such a nice wedding! You two were so "nervous" you had trouble with your vows! How adorable!
Mari: why the quotes?
BB: no reason... now we're at the home stretch! Good 'ol Ash has some for stuff that technically hasn't happened yet, but you should still be able to answer! What responsibilities will Rex take on when he joins the pantheon?
Quetz: ...well he'll be largely a guardian of life on earth. Authority over things like the jungle itself, volcanos, and even snow... for some reason.
Rex: well it still snows in mexico... occasionally.
Quetz: and we'll be sharing authority over Venus! I wanted to share it with mi amor!
BB: cute! Hmmm, not sure if you cananswer this one just yet? Adjusting to God hood?
Rex: well I got to try it out a bit. Summoning lava and snow is... interesting. But also... my mind felt... odd... but also clearer? Not sure how to put it...
BB: I'm sure when you get there you'll get it... took me a bit after servant fest. And how did the other divinities react?
BB: actually I have some recordings of that to answer, so play the clip!
A screen appears showing recordings of some servants, one at a time.
Ishtar: eh! She's turning you into a god!? ...I guess you've earned it master...
Eresh: what!? Can you do that?! ...guess I won't see you in Kur... then again I don't think you have any link to Kur anyways.
Kama: do you really think your cut out for it? I mean... if it's just for you two to be together then I guess it's fine.
Astraea: godhood is a very big responsibility master. Are you certain you're up to it? Saving humanity is also a big task but at least that has an end point. This is... eternal.
Qin: oh! So you have decided to go for immortality after all?! Tho not the same as my methods, it is still good to see you two will be happy together!
Scathach: immortality? I've strived for death for so long... to see you go for immortality... Hopefully you'll find happiness, where I couldn't...
The screen turns off.
BB: very interesting! Most seem hesitant of it all... I for one think it's cute! Imagine in a thousand years you guys have a double date with me and my dear stag beetle!
Rex: ...a thousand years...
Quetz: still having trouble processing it all?
Rex: yeah... maybe when I get there... it'll be easier.
BB: now for today's final one! A scenario! One of you two goes berserk! What does the other do to calm them down?
Rex: well that has happened before... usually a nice hug is more then good enough.
Quetz: si! I've almost destroyed a few servants a few times until mi amor caught me in a hug! I can't bring myself to harm him... so I stop!
BB: sounds too easy... but I've seen that before so... I'll let it slide.
BB: well that's all the time we have for now! Hopefully you all are satisfied by the answers! We'll be doing this again, seeya!
Screen cuts out, the show's over.

Wait, Is Legacies' Sebastian Connected To Vampire Diaries Or The Originals?
What is the deal with new guy Sebastian on Legacies Season 2, and is that deal connected to The Vampire Diaries and/or The Originals? Sebastian showed up out of nowhere and charmed Lizzie Saltzman, who also reminds him of someone he used to know. A hint? Also, is Lizzie -- excuse me, Elizabeth -- the only one who can see him?
To vampire MG, Sebastian is invisible, leading some fans to wonder if Lizzie imagined Sebastian or (more likely) if there's some other kind of supernatural magic at work. Is it possible that Sebastian has a connection to The Vampire Diaries, the show that started it all, and/or its first spinoff, The Originals? He's already been compared to TVD's Damon Salvatore. And we know Hope Mikaelson's Aunt Freya is coming to Legacies soon. Will Seb have anything to do with her arrival?
Thomas Doherty plays Sebastian on Legacies and he seems to be having fun teasing out answers. He did say that Sebastian's backstory will be revealed in Episode 5, which is titled "Screw Endgame" and airs November 14. There isn't a new episode on Thursday, October 31 for Halloween, unfortunately, but that means we only have the November 7 episode before getting to the truth about Sebastian.
After Thomas Doherty mentioned his initial interest in Elizabeth is because she reminds him of a past lover, ET asked if there could be another potential doppelgänger in the mix. That's certainly something fans have gotten used to from The Vampire Diaries.
Here's Thomas Doherty's attempt to deflect from that question:
Thomas Doherty: I don't think there is another Thomas wandering around the set, but you never know. [Laughs]
ET: Maybe not a Thomas or Sebastian doppelgänger, but could Lizzie have one, and that is why it reminds Sebastian of his past love?
Thomas Doherty: [Laughs] Maybe.
Ugh! He can't really confirm or deny anything, which is why he also played coy when asked directly if Sebastian had any ties to the Salvatores of The Vampire Diaries or Mikaelsons of The Originals -- you know, the founding families of our supernatural world. Here's what Thomas Doherty said about that:
Potentially [Laughs]. This is really hard! Wait and see.
Potentially! Sebastian was already described as something like Ian Somerhalder's Damon Salvatore of The Vampire Diaries. Thomas Doherty agreed both characters have a "kind of brooding, charming, mysterious thing about them."
The actor also said Sebastian will become much more present as the season progresses. It sounds like we're building toward a great reveal:
I really hope that I don't disappoint anyone. I don't really think [fans] will be. As I was reading the script, as I started, I was like, 'Whaaat?! Oh my god!' I don't think anyone will be disappointed.
Nice! Would it be too obvious for Sebastian to be the hooded figure in the Mystic Falls cemetery, connected to Malivore? I still feel like Vardemus is somehow connected to that, and maybe he's dragging Dark Josie into it. Still, we have to remember the timing of Sebastian's sudden appearance, right around when Hope escaped Malivore. Can Hope see Sebastian? I want to see them interact...
Thomas Doherty told EW we're dealing with something new in Sebastian:
The character’s written as someone that is very different than the vampires that we’ve seen before in Legacies.
I'm open to any and all Sebastian theories at this point, especially if they connect to the larger story being told from Vampire Diaries or The Originals.
Don't forget the Hope Mikaelson's Aunt Freya from The Originals is meant to be coming to Mystic Falls, and we've been told 1) Freya is supposed to show up in Episode 6, right after Sebastian's big reveal episode; and 2) Julie Plec said it's not Hope who goes and brings Freya to Mystic Falls. She said it's someone else and it'll be an interesting dynamic. I had been assuming Landon, but what if it's Sebastian?
I'm also fond of this fan theory connecting Sebastian to the Gemini Coven, which would connect him to The Vampire Diaries, The Merge, Josie and Lizzie Saltzman, their late biological mother, and their crazy Uncle Kai.
No clue if that theory holds water, but I like it. Plus, am I reading too much into things to notice Sebastian's ring? He and Lizzie go on some kind of picnic date in Episode 4, "Since When Do You Speak Japanese?" and the promo photo shows his ring. Is that just a classic daylight ring to protect him from the sun? Is the ring by any chance enchanted in other ways? I may be reaching.
So we know answers on Sebastian are coming in Legacies Season 2, Episode 5 (which is also the '80s decade dance episode). EW said Freya was scheduled for Episode 6. And Julie Plec said the hooded figure mystery would play out around the winter finale before the big midseason break.
We don't have a date on that yet, but it shouldn't be too long after Episode 6 -- since Episode 5 airs November 15, Episode 6 should be November 21, November 28 is Thanksgiving so I'm sure they'll be taking a break, and I imagine Episode 7 will air on December 5. Last year's winter finale was Episode 7, airing December 13. It's possible this year we'll get the winter finale in Episode 8 on December 12, if The CW sticks with that schedule. (Legacies is meant to have a big Christmas episode this year, but it's not actually set on Christmas, which is intriguing.)
At any rate, answers on Sebastian, Freya, and the hooded figure should be coming soon -- so now is the time to air your theories in case you turn out to be right!
Legacies returns with Season 2, Episode 4 on Thursday, November 7 at 9 p.m. on The CW. Keep up with everything still airing on TV this year with our handy 2019 fall TV premiere schedule.
