#admitting to a lot here but I'M TIRED. the implications!! ugh whatever....#observations after being made aware of certain happenings in fandom spaces. state of the union i suppose.#yeah. sucks that often i'm concerned about leaving a like on certain posts or a kudos on certain types of fics for fear of the wrong person#seeing it and deciding to call me out. as if i'm some influential blog! what does it matter? but hmm. some fandoms are lame asses over stuf#there are good authors & people i'm friends with who have insightful takes and posts. and talent! but i'm a coward. because of the content.#and i feel like a fraud when i talk about being against censorship & say 'do what you want'. clearly i'm lacking since i feel hesitation.#i wish people could mind their business. & either not be so repressed or force repression on others. can't we all just get along?#it really wasn't like this maybe 5-10 years ago. more towards 10. i hate what happened to fandom so much.#why am i admitting this now? maybe to force myself to speak up if i ever see harrassment in the future.#because i never spoke up in the past and i feel shitty about it.#people might even be talking about and making stuff i'm not actually interested in but i don't think it matters!!#it's all fiction and fandom and genuinely mostly harmless. leave people alone???? maybe????#i just want to leave nice comments on my friends fics & to other good writer's works that might have a higher rating ok??#and not face a 'saw you at the devil's sacrament' situation#which in itself is hypocritical but i still don't want to face it! i just want to be left alone!! good writing is good writing!! ahh#i could make another blog but why? i have nothing original to say i just want to not feel judged for giving a like or leaving a comment#end scene.

what with all this talk of fanfic and ai and feeding other people's work without permission into ai programmes to 'finish' a fanfic or whatever... it's just showing how people see fic as 'content'? a fanfic as something mass-produced and official, something to consume at a distance and then talk about in a vacuum? something to use for your own purposes and something over which you have a claim?
fanfic is written by fans like you. written out of love and passion and a lot of effort and hard work, so that the author can share their enthusiasm for the characters and stories with other fans. like you. they aren't these untouchable, faceless people above you – they're your peers. gifsets, fanart, fanfic – they're all made by your peers. mutuals. friends.
if you want to know more about the fic, talk to the author! so many fic writers leave their socials in the end notes of their fics – talk to them! they're not going to be affronted or judgemental. chances are, they're going to be over the moon that you like their work and want to engage and discuss the characters and the themes etc. they made you happy with their fic, and you would be making them so happy in return! (and what does a happy writer do? write more!)
as a fic writer, I made one of my closest tumblr friends because she read my fic and left a really nice comment, and then we got talking and brainstorming loads of headcanons and fic ideas together! fic writers want to talk! if you enjoy someone's presence and contributions in a fandom, let them know!
and for the love of all that is good, don't feed someone's hard work into an ai programme!!! whether you post it (which is just horrible tbh) is beside the point – you're facilitating the plagiarism of their fic!

I added this to a post going around about the joys of commenting on fanfic, but it always gets hidden behind the 'read more' button, so I thought I'd post it separately <3
Hey! I know that it's hard to leave comments on fanfics because you don't know what to say and don't want to be cringe! Here are some examples of different kinds of things you can write on fics that you have enjoyed so that you can feed the writers as they have fed you:
Before we start, you've gotta remember this: You've just read the work of someone who was so cringe about their blorbos that they wrote (probably) a minimum of 1000 words about kissing them or touching their feet or whatever. You're not going to out-cringe them by complimenting their efforts!
Keyboard smash or emoji spamming
Difficulty: easy
You might as well be doordashing a big bag of drug to the writer's house. This is also a good way to communicate if you have run out of spoons
"Thank you!"
Difficulty: easy
A simple thanks or 'thank you for ...' will certainly be appreciated and also doesn't require you to engage your brain if it's just been annihilated by some incredible smut
"I thought it was so [adjective] when [thing happened in the story]!"
Difficulty: medium
This gives the author a bit of an idea of what moments readers like you might have enjoyed specifically. It's also a nice way for you to relive your favourite bits!
"When [thing] happened, I [hyperbolically showed my enthusiasm]!"
Difficulty: medium
I think it's OK to get a little weird here, but don't write something you wouldn't say to your friends at a party.
"I love the way you X"
Difficulty: hard
Praise the author's writing skills a little bit. It's nice!
-
Other things to note
Genuine questions are good but bear in mind the author may not write you a detailed answer, especially if it might spoil later chapters
The comment section is not the place to share criticism with a stranger.
If you really like the writer, DM them. I'm such a little freak like that and I've met some really cool people that way (u know who you are)

SPOP Saturday
We were talking in the Flex server about a way to showcase fics we love to get them more attention and came up with a little idea to try for the summer (and then beyond, if there's interest):
SPOP Saturday
Here's how it works:
Every Saturday, we recommend fanfics using the hashtags #SPOP Saturday and #fic rec as well as any other relevant fandom tags so people can find it. Just post the link to the fanfic, a word or two about why you like it / why people might want to check it out, that's it. (Tagging the fic author is optional but nice to do if you can because everyone likes to see their work being appreciated!)
To give this a little structure, I'll be sharing optional themes for each Saturday for the types of fanfics to recommend. The purpose of this is just to give some variety in what everyone's recommending so it's not just the same few fics over and over again.
While you can just add your fic recs as a reply or reblog my post if you wish, you may get more eyes on you post if you make your own (esp if you're rec-ing non-canon ships as my follower base is mostly canon ship focused).
I specified in most cases no more than three mostly because I don't want this to be a high pressure thing where you try to list every single fav and friends get offended if they don't make the list. Just whatever ones you're most jazzed to mention for this week's prompt off the top of your head!
Time is a construct! Don't stress too much about getting it out on time or if you want to do a previous theme on another week, the point is just to recommend FanWorks and share the love!
Check out the rec-ed fics, leave kudos and comments, keep your fandom writers well fed with positive attention so they keep the good stuff coming!
(Note: I will build in one week for people to self-promote but the spirit of this event is to show other authors some love, not push your own fics.)
#spop saturday#spop#shera#she ra#spop fandom#shera fandom#this is just an intro post so I can easily link to an explainer#i'll post the actual first post for this tomorrow

I js saw ur costume party one and I can’t help but ask alastor x female reader smut, where they role play where alastor comes to our door and he has a pizza outfit on w/ his dick in the fucking pizza box??? He’s like “sausage pizza with extra meat” or something LOL ITD BE FUNNY BUT HOT.
Hi friend. As much as I enjoy getting requests, this one feels a bit outside of my writing style. I've never been able to write a good crack fic, even a smutty one. All my writing is pretty dark as that's what I know I'm good at and comfortable putting out into the world. I did go onto my favorite hazbin discord server and see if anyone else felt up to the challenge and had a friend @crackrodent take pity on you that I was going to turn this ask down and she didn't want to leave you with absolutely nothing so she put this together quickly last night.
I know it's not much but I will tag the crap out of this post and if any other writers want to give it a shot, just leave a comment so this nice anon can send it on to you.
I'm very specific on what I will and will not write. I won't do an Alastor x Canon ship and I won't do anything humor based. I've also recently gotten a cake verse prompt and I do not understand that at all, so nothing along those lines either. I'm sorry if I'm a buzz kill but I've been writing fics for close to twenty years now and I know my limitations and what I'm comfortable with.

I just wanted to come on here and make a little celebration post because Maybe Loving You is Dangerous has officially hit 100 kudo's! That number is like genuinely insane to me because I was expecting it to get like 30, max. I cannot believe it oh my god. I'm so grateful for everyone that has read my fic so far, that has left a kudo's, that has left a comment. It all really means the world to me, thank you so much. I truly wouldn't have been able to do any of this without you guys. I'm so happy you enjoyed the story so far, and I'm so excited for what's coming next because I get to have some fun. I hope you guys will like it! Now, surpisingly or not, I am very bad at talking about myself and my accomplishments. And since it's my celebration post I get to do what I want. Today that is being nice to some other writers. So I decided to leave a little note to the authors that inspired me to write and actually publish this fic under the cut. (So if you got tagged, that might be why). Feel free to read these notes if you want to, it's truly just me being an insufferable fanboy. If you did not get tagged, but we are mutuals (or friends) just know that you might have also had a role in the inspiration and motivation departments of this fic.
A note to @halfratsalready: I'm sure this comes as a surpise to no one, and I warned you I was going to tag you in something. But yeah, being very real and sappy with you: you're like one of my biggest inspirations for this. I was, and still am, absolutely enamored by the Lose Yourself series. I honestly feel confident enough to say that its my favourite Just Dance fic, ever. It's genuinely so well written and you executed everything so perfectly. I loved inserting it into my weekly schedule and I felt so inspired to write afterwards. I'm going to be a little sneaky and say that the whole reason I started even thinking about possibly writing a pre-canon fic. So truly, MLYiD owes Lose Yourself it's life. I joke around sometimes and call you my target audience, but honestly? You are. Everything I write is with your enjoyment in mind. I really do catch myself thinking "I hope Oboe likes this" while writing lol. I will forever be your nbr 1 fanboy, and I am so glad that we're friends. I wouldn't have it any other way.
A note to @libra-cant-just-dance: Hello there! You're the only one in here I haven't talked to, but I still wanted to tag you and tell you how much I love your fic. The Tainted City was such a great fic. I loved the plot and your story telling and the way you describe things is just so amazing. I really look up to it. The Tainted City was a bigger inspiration for my other fic than for this one, but honestly without it I doubt I would have ever started posting fics. So really, I owe you one at this point. Your fics are amazing and I cannot wait to see what you end up doing with Mirrored Walls!
A note to @lightning-and-sparks: Thorns was the first Just Dance fanfic I have ever read, and it will always be one of my favourites. I genuinely enjoy the story and you're such a good author as well. I'm so glad it's back and that I get to read weekly updated for it again. As you know, it is a very big inspiration for MLYiD and I might have accidentally stolen a few things from it but that was all in good faith and because it was all so good that I just had to. Keep it up, I need infinite Throns content (please.)

I loove in the reflection, WHy did you get bad comments ? Are people mad?
Alright so I've been thinking since last night whether or not to answer this, but I got a comment this morning that cemented the decision for me, because I want to explain what I mean and you asked very nicely.
First of all, thank you for your kind words, im super happy you like my writing! That makes me genuinely happy, because when I write, I write so I can bring at least a piece of joy I feel while writing to the people who are reading my works.
Thats very kind of you to ask about the comments, too, and here we go.
When I said i got bad comments, i did not mean outright hate or "your writing sucks". That is obviously not true and wouldn't impact me, plus, only registered users can comment on my fics and people are much less inclined to be hateful when not on anon. It was comments like these:
These were left on a couple of my wips, and there are more like this but these are the first two i could find. These comments are bad in a sense that they are entitled, demoralising, and prone to make me much less inclined to write anything any time soon.
Writers and authors live on feedback. We feed on it and there is nothing that makes us happier than knowing that people enjoy our work. When the readers tell us this, it genuinely feels like we are on top of the world. A simple heart emoji in the comments is enough to make my day, and not to speak of in-depth analyses that I cherish with my whole being and re-read every time I'm in a slump or need a pick-me-up. All these comments, short and long, are inspiring and make me want to write more. People discussing my fics with me makes me want to write more. Anyone saying "this brought me joy" makes me want to write more and give more joy out in the universe. The loop is neverending.
However, comments like these have the exact opposite effect. I (and other fanfiction writers, but let me talk about me here, and my writer friends may add whatever they want, if they are so inclined) do this for free. I do this in my free time for the sheer joy of sharing a story in my head. I write for myself and for the story I'm telling, but I appreciate knowing that that story brought someone joy, or relief, or a way to put names to the feelings they may be feeling. What I do not appreciate is being made to feel like I am a content producing machine. What I don't appreciate is demands for updates cloaked in seemingly harmless compliments that really aren't that. I "forced you to leave a comment"? What does that mean? "My heart dropped when I saw [this was a wip]"? Why do you project your feelings on me? Why do you think I would be flattered that you left a comment that is, at its basis, just a demand for more content? I am taking these in as good faith as I can, but impact always trumps intent, and the impact of these comments on me personally is "I don't want to write anything in these universes again".
Fic writing is a community. It's a two way relationship between writers and readers, and, like any ecosystem, it thrives on mutual recognition and appreciation. I do not feel appreciated when I get a comment like this. I feel guilty for not writing, which is insane since I am and adult person with a full life who does this for fun and for free. I feel angry, because it makes me feel like I should be putting out 20k works every other day to stay "relevant", and what does that relevance even mean? I've been writing fics for years. AO3 is an archive. It's not an algortihm driven site that favours only new "content". I read fics from 2009 and comment regularly, because that's how an archive and fandom works. It's not tiktok, it's not instagram. So I refuse to bow to the demand of "write something new immediately or basically fuck you". It makes me feel disheartened, because I am a writer, and I hold myself to a certain standard, and a good story takes time.
Now don't get me wrong. For every one of these comments I get at least two lovely ones. And I focus on those because they are the ones that give me inspiration and joy. But I am also human, and sometimes, I am so fucking tired, and I can't just ignore this.
Did you know, well, you didn't, you can't, but I'll tell you anyways. I have been itching to write lately but I never got the time, and so I cleared up my day today to deal with some administrative things I need to do in rl and left the rest of the day free for myself to write? I thought I might finally finish this one chapter of a wip I've been writing on and off. And then I wake up to a comment like the ones above, and guess what? I'm not writing shit :) all my inpiration flew out of the window and burned in the heat of this obscene summer, and that's it. That's what these kinds of comments do. That's why I call them bad. Because they are bad.
I am lucky to have faith in my skills as a writer, so I am not worried about that. I know I am a comparatively good writer, and I personally like the things I write. But I wonder what comments like these do to people who are less certain and more insecure in their writing skills? I wonder how it impacts them? I wonder how many people stopped writing because they couldn't cope with the guilt and the pressure these kinds of comments produce?
So there. That's my answer. And I want it stated clearly that I didn't post these comments to call anyone out personally. I posted them because I needed to show them as examples and to explain and maybe make some people understand what your thoughtlessness and entitlement does. Food for thought, innit?

20 fic writer questions
Thank you to @lady-bluebird-luv and @xxvalkyriesxx for the tag! Starting a new chain since the last one was getting long and tagging @thesistersarcheron, @shallyne, @trappedoutside124, @deaiquiri, and an open tag for anyone else who wants to jump in <3
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
31!
2. What's your A03 word count?
336,883 but some of it is collab fics, so I'm not sure that's accurate
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Just ACOTAR these days!
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
we said hello and your eyes look like coming home, The Dust of the Stars in Her Eyes, a simple name and everything has changed, to make them love me and make it seem effortless, Out of the Woods
5. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hmmmm...maybe we'll never make our parents' mistakes? it's a canon-compliant fic about Rhys and his sister, so there's a bit of a dark cloud over the whole thing
6. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably the rest? I like angst but not without a happy ending
7. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really. People mostly leave me alone because Feysand, gen fics, and the occasional rarepair don't really catch any ship war bullshit
8. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
YES! I do a lot of established relationship smut because I love fluff and writing about my blorbos generally having a good time
9. Do you write cross overs? What's the craziest one you've written?
Not really. I have written retellings, where I "cast" the ACOTAR characters into roles in other stories, but not true crossovers where characters from different media meet.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, thank god
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope, but I'd be flattered!
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
with the rest of @feysand-hivemind, the loves of my life
13. What's your all time favorite ship?
Feysand <3
14. What's a WIP you'd like to finish but doubt you ever wilI?
I ended up having a really bad time at work about halfway through writing Karma Is My Boyfriend and needed to stop writing for a few days to take care of IRL stuff. That kind of killed my motivation to finish it, especially with the event week it was for being over.
15. What are your writing strengths?
Plot and pacing!
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Description, setting, memorable minor characters
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
It just feels like a flex (presumably you'd have to translate for monolingual readers anyway) lol
18. First fandom you wrote for?
Artemis Fowl! Mor is the Minerva Paradizo of ACOTAR, and I still love them both so much
19. Favorite fic you've ever written?
I have to answer we said hello and your eyes look like coming home or else that fic will come to life and shank me
20. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try my best! At the very least, I feel obligated to thank someone for taking the time to write me something nice, and if someone's engaging with me, I want to make friends!

How would you recommend interacting with a writer. If a story wasn't to your taste, or left you unsatisfied. But you still want to encourage, the writer. And show gratitude for the free entertainment?
Hi anon!
The short answer is, a simple "thanks for the fic!" or "thanks for sharing!" or even a few emojis will often suffice. You really don't have to let the writer know what you didn't like. At the end of the day, they're not writing the fic for you, and obiously not every story is going to satisfy everyone the same way--otherwise we'd all be the same and that would be a horrendously boring world to live in.
The long answer is probably unecessary, but I like to procrastinate on my WIPs talk 😂
There's a format of commenting that goes a little like this: "i don't normally like [X ship, X trope, the way X acts in canon, etc...], but i love the way you do it!!" And honestly I myself have used that before--mostly for tropes, though possibly for some ships as well. And on the surface, that's reads as a compliment. Personally, when ppl leave me that sort of comment, I'll usually interpret it as a compliment too--unless they're full on bashing the thing I love (which sometimes happens with people criticizing canon). And I do think it's INTENDED as a compliment. (That's how I've meant it, when I used it, so I do try my best to also interpret others in good faith.)
But it can also read as "I don't like this thing that you really like and I felt the need to tell you that." Honestly, I didn't even realize it would come across that way until I saw someone else point it out. And then...yeah, I started to notice the fics I get it on more (A lot lot lot of my ladrien fics, lmao.)
So I'm at a weird cross roads where I try not to use that anymore--unless it's with someone I'm fairly sure will understand how I mean it?because sometimes you do have more of a rapport with certain ppl and they'll understand what you mean--but I also don't want to say it's 100% a bad thing to say. I really do understand the intent.
Anyways, my point in bringing that up is that you never don't know what seemingly innocent "this wasn't quite to my taste" comment is going to read as an insult. And so if you really DO want to encourage said writer, I'd recommend sticking to the positives.
Another big thing that's important to me personally is: don't lie.
People have a tendancy to...I don't want to say be disingenuous, but certainly to exaggerate at times on the internet. You see that in the SCREAMING CRYING EATING GLASS types comments. And those are USUALLY sincere in the way that the emotions they convey are sincere. We as a society understand they're not literally eating glass but that they're in agony because the angst in the fic was so good and they want more. But then--something I've noticed--that sort of lingo has a way of slipping into a default response of sorts. And sometimes that makes me question if people really mean it?
This second thing is probably more of a personal thing than a response to your question, but since it's something I've been thinking about lately I hope you don't mind that I brought it up too. I really don't want people to lie to me about my writing.
Not even if it's "to be nice".
Maybe this is in part because I myself find it...difficult to be insincere with ppl, but I don't want false compliments--that's something I tell my friends too. If I write a trope or pairing you don't like? There's never any pressure to read it. I don't expect comments or kudos from anyone. And I'm not someone who in general believes people are insincere--that's not really fair to other people. But everyone has doubts at some point, and I feel like adding to that by straight up lying to make someone feel better just isn't the way to go? If you can't pick out a detail from the fic that you genuinely enjoyed, then maybe keep it to the simple "thanks for sharing!"
So, I guess the TLDR is: keep it short and sweet. keep it encouraging if that's really your goal. (and, if this ever happens to be in reference to something that I specifically have written? please don't feel like you HAVE to say anything at all)
Thanks for the ask!! Sorry I went on for so long LOL💜

You're so nice and patient with all the asks you get, could never be me lol I get annoyed so fast at the smallest things 😅
Are there any types of asks that you really don't like or you avoid answering? (for example, some authors don't want ANY constructive criticism but some welcome it, or some authors completely ban any asks about updates but others find it motivating to get them to write)
Oh god thank you but honestly I’m not perfect!!! Niceness and patience are things I still need to work at- it’s a skill you build up over time :) but if I feel like people are genuinely trying to reach out to me in some way or other then yeah I like to reach back!
I don’t really enjoy getting the same questions over and over again and if any asks come off to me as a bit too demanding or rude I generally take a bit longer to process how I feel first before responding back. I’m not generally avoiding question beyond putting up some boundaries around questions around fic updates (because I’m bad at being specific/ guesstimating timing for dates and they were the only questions I was getting- so it was less fun to answer when I’m just repeating myself) honestly if people are being sincere in their question I will generally answer it.
Tbh my thinking in regards to constructive criticism is that most people actually don’t generally understand what that really means.
which is why you get authors being inundated with rude comments that are generally about a readers personal preference, interpretation or the opinions they develop based off their own internal life experiences which affects how they react to a fic. Comments inspired by these factors aren’t constructive it’s just criticism. The whole point of writing fic is that it’s meant to be fun and encourage interactions between the fandom and create community. But obviously negative interactions like that don’t foster good feelings and discourage writers from writing/sharing fic in general because it takes the fun out of it- and often can seem a bit entitled and ungrateful for readers to hold authors to these kinds of arbitrary standards esp when we’re all fully aware fics are not rigorously edited published works the same way novels are (AND THEYRE BEING MADE AND SHARED FOR FREE!!). They can’t be held to the same standard (even if ppl have read fics that are of a quality better than some published works)
This is why I’d say most authors have a blanket rule against any construct crit- and tbh I’m pretty much in agreement with that. we’re all essentially strangers here talking online and can’t predict how people might react or interpret the meaning of what you’re trying to say. it leaves too much room for bad interactions and unnecessary drama when this is supposed to be fun for everyone. It’s not about one person reading a fic and having a bad time and then deciding they want to make someone else feel the same way too. That’s not the fandom experience anybody wants.
So I don’t really think fics are there for the purpose of readers to offer their crit on especially not in the comments of the fic which are a response to the author- not a group chat for fans to discuss the fic where the author can also read it. Like obvs it’s fine to do that too so long as you’re aware that this is posting to the author and they can see everything you say there.
There are other places for you to talk about things you didn’t enjoy in a story- I myself often vent to friends but never on a public platform or with references to any fic details or author names that could potentially mean it gets back to the author. Because when and if I am complaining I’m not directing it at the author. There are of course exceptions to this (particularly if an author has missed obvious tags on a story and the reader wants to request it be updated)
Honestly all of this is just basic etiquette tbh fic authors are not published professionally (at least not always) they are not celebrities or public figures who go into social media platforms with the expectation of being recognised or talked about or potentially harassed etc. fandom isn’t meant to be that kind of community. It’s collaborative between author and readers, so if readers want that to keep going that means encouraging authors and being kind and encouraging them to write and share and improve. And that kind of thing is achieved through positive feedback- it won’t work on the negative.
So fic doesn’t really have the room for constructive crit (unless that author has specifically requested that because they’re looking to improve their skills)
So like yes for me the kinds of things I’d like to hear about in that regard are generally if there’s a typo/spelling mistake or if I’ve made a real life reference to something that was factually incorrect or I got my research wrong. Because these are easy to correct.
Anything else just becomes reader opinion really (which is fine of course but if it’s a negative one then that’s when the don’t comment/ click out approach applies). The easiest way to find out what the author prefers is to read their notes at start of the fic or if you follow them on social media platforms to just ask- which is what you’ve done here and is honestly the safest method. Even if I think the general accepted stance on fic is not to crit.

AO3 Username: kay_elle_cee
1. How many works do you have on A03? 42!
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 307,791.
3. What fandoms do you write for? Harry Potter (Jily) and I'm sitting on a Willabeth oneshot for Pirates of the Caribbean.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
i'll be fine, i'll be good
Things That Haven't Happened Yet
A Thrill Divine, Down My Spine
it's (always) you
Fireside Chats <<<That’s a surprise!
5. Do you respond to comments? Always always always! I'm the type of person who always leaves comments, and I love being able to personally chat with everyone who took the time to say something nice :)
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Ooh that's hard because I write a lot of angst....it's gotta be Idolum and Fulcrum, right? I can think of two others still 😅 But I'm going with these, which are two sides of the same coin.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I think A Thrill Divine, Down My Spine, specifically since it's a no-Voldemort AU friends-to-lovers situation.
8. Do you get hate on fics? I have not (yet) and I'm super grateful for that. I know it'll come, statistically.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I do! (God Kelsey from a year ago is SHAKING). I think usually I like to connect it to emotion even if it's a pwp situation, but overall I'd say it's pretty vanilla lol.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Technically no but also a character named Katherine Kelley made an appearance in my Newsies AU, and if you know, you know.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Someone asked to translate Things That Haven't Happened Yet into Russian, but I'm not sure if that ever happened.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I have not!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? Jily :) (Willabeth is also like, neck-and-neck).
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I'm trying not to burden myself with a bunch of WIPs so I finish everything 🤞🏼 I have 2 fully outlined right now and I intend to finish!
16. What are your writing strengths? I think dialogue and pacing?
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Description 🙈 Specifically scene-setting description.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I don't think I could do it believably, but I love to see it done when it enhances the characters or plot!
19. First fandom you wrote for? Harry Potter. I somehow always find my way back.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written? Listen. Come in close. This will probably always change depending on when you ask me. I've, unsurprisingly, got restless waves rise and fall, my Jily Pirate AU on my brain lately. But also so much time and effort went into i'll be fine, i'll be good, and seeing that it's my most-kudosed fic brings me SO much joy, you can't imagine. <3
Tagging @jamesunderwater, @alittlebitofeverything23, @clare-with-no-i, @isahorcrux, @thequibblah, @possessingtheproperspirit, @emeralddoeadeer @nodirectionhome-ao3 @suzyq31 <3 if you feel like it!

I was tagged by @bourbon-ontherocks (ty! 💛💛💛) to answer 20 questions for writers:
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
21!
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
278,245
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The only fandom I've ever published fic for is good girls
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Bringing down the neighbourhood
waiting for someone who needs me🧞
What a sight to see🧛🏻
(a) time to kill
yourself and others
I'm not sure the middle 3 would def be there were it not for the anon kudos bombing but w/e it's nice having some single chapter fics in the top 5 🤘
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! 🥺🥺🥺
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
A time to refrain (from embracing) methinks!
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Both installments of the Are you afraid or is it true series are pretty fluffy. Maybe the second part (Through the park and by the tree) wins out? 🤔
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not generally. There was someone in the gg fandom leaving mean bookmark notes tho 🙄🗑️
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes. What are the kinds? 👀
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I haven't, and I don't imagine I would?
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, not that I'm aware of. It could be interesting to see how it would go!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes actually, as kids me and a friend co-wrote a tortall 'verse crackfic.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Ooof. Maybe spuffy? That met me at a very formative time of my life, and I didn't expect it to become so canon (as opposed to like under a spell etc) and I think that experience really reshaped my brain 🤯🤯🤯 but fundamentally faves questions are immoral thus this is a very rude question.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I hope I'll finish all of them, and do intend to! I'm not sure I'll ever write the hilarious abortion fic tho.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Mm, a love of language/interesting prose. A love of brevity/somewhat chiselled sentences. A love of editing/willingness to improve. Interesting stories. Dialogue, tho brio get little bc theyre annoying. Characterisation!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Well I violently dislike plot. I don't feel super strong on creating original characters. I'm slow! I'd rather let things be confusing than beat readers over the head with info, which I think can be detrimental. I wouldnt say my descriptions are super strong, though I think they've improved a lil. Sometimes there's too much internal monologue at a go which breaks up the pacing of an eg dialogue scene (though again think that's improved somewhat). My love of planning and love of pantsing are at constant war lol, I get grumpiest abt stuff not having been established earlier and thus needing to state things which couldve been well demonstrated. Blocking, sometimes. I love short stories and oneshots but I'm apparently prone to writing long fics & continuing things into series which I consider a real weakness, lol.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I'm not against it in principle, I've read a lot of books which contain a lot of eg French or Spanish (often untranslated). We've got access to Google translate or w/e right? I do appreciate it when translations are provided bc lazy (and I think Ao3 does poss let you do hyperlinked superscript?). I feel the same way abt it in fic as in other media I think -- if you're happy for it to be a bonus to those that understand and everyone else needs to work to figure it out, I concur. If you think it needs to be understood, then providing translations (even if just as notes @ the end) makes sense.
But I also think pls don't write it via Google translate... If u don't speak the language/don't have someone who can help u translate it, don't write dodgy shite Spanish or w/e 🙈 not everything needs to be literal dialogue u can just say 'he explained to his grandmother abt the change in plans' or w/e I swear
...o wait I'm guessing the q meant me as a writer not reader 🤦 I don't think I've done much of it? Altho I do always seem to imply that every character speaks French, a language I don't really speak so who the hell knows 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Published for: good girls. Wrote for hmmm I guess tortall books maybe? 🧓🤷🏼♀️
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Ooof, immoral question! Let's say upon your ignorance (and the gray despair) of your ugly life tho bc every time I remember I wrote a fic where rio & Dean swap bodies I giggle 😂 there's so much abt this fic which is very funny to specifically me teehee
Tagging🔖🔖🔖🔖🔖: @hereliesbb @nakedmonkey @nottonyharrison @inyoursheets @bensonstablers @blizabrth @delicatelingon & U right in the middle of your forehead if u wanna play 😚🎯
#Ty for tagging me this was fun! 😚😚😚#Writing#On writing#Fanfiction#Hopefully I didn't fluff up any of the links; doing this all on mobile was not the easiest thing ever 😅

As the year comes to a close, almost, I just wanted to take some time out to say thank you to everyone who reblogged, bookmarked, shared, liked, read, left kudos and comments on my fics. I’m very lucky to have found myself as a writer within a community of really nice, genuine people from all over the world.
I love writing. I really should be spending time on my novel, which is unrelated to J2 but here I am, publishing a fic a month about these two yahoos who have really gotten under my skin. What can I say, I love them. There is just something unending about J2, no matter what other people say or do, J2 are eternal. As ships go, the aesthetics are heavenly and the chemistry of an almost 20 year friendship are the gifts that keep on giving. And with that, my brain will not stop until every trope, every occupation, every situation has been explored with J2 at the helm.
This year, Jared has been a lighthouse keeper, a multi-media management employee, a ghost, a Christmas tree-topper, a vampire, a hooker and a porn star in training amongst other things. Jensen has been a vampire too, a Greek soldier, a book-store owner, an ice seller from the 1920’s and a virtual reality coder. I keep them busy, is all I can say.
There is just something magical about creating worlds centered around the two most beautiful men on earth. I have a new fic lined up for the new year but I am going be (reluctantly) taking a break which is good because Christmas is fun but bad because I write literally every day of my life. I’m sure I’ll survive it.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
Here below is the complete list of every J2 fic of 2023 – 666,130 words – make of that word count what you will. 😦
Very long list under the cut -
THE LOVE LOCKER
Jensen Ackles buys storage units for a living, it's a lucrative business which has made him a comfortable amount of money. One thing he learned on the job is that one man's junk is another man's treasure. People leave all manner of things in abandoned lockers; money, comics, designer clothes, sports equipment, antiques, books and sometimes (maybe just the once), people.
THE PURPLE IRIS
In 1926 Louisiana, twenty year old Jared Padalecki has been forever searching for something to fulfil him. The youngest of four sons born into a rich and privileged family, Jared is ignored by his mother, father and brothers who think him wild and believe him to be of no use to them. In a desperate bid to inject excitement into his life, Jared spends his formative years seeking thrills but finds nothing that suits his character, until he comes of age. Jared is a late bloomer, lonely and questioning his sexuality. Through self-discovery, Jared opens himself up to the world in the most intimate way possible, attracting the attention of the mysterious 'iceman' and a rich older friend of his father's who takes advantage of Jared's vulnerability and loneliness.
FOREVER SEVENTEEN
Jared Padalecki was well-traveled for a sixteen year old and had lived in many different countries around the world. His passion was history and joining his parents on archaeological digs, standing on the sidelines and watching as the past was slowly revealed. When Mr. and Mrs. Padalecki decided to take on regular jobs and settle down in Santa Cruz, it gave Jared his first taste of high school in the US. With only two weeks until summer break, he had little time to settle in and even less time to make friends to keep him busy during the summer. However, on his very first day, Jared was taken under the wing of the very mysterious but shockingly handsome Jensen Ackles. At seventeen, Jensen had a worldy air about him and an intelligence to match Jared's. Soon, they became insperable and during that crazy hot summer, they became eternal together too.
GLOW IN THE DARK STARS
Have you ever met a terrible person and wondered why they did the things they did? What happened to them that turned them into a bad person? Were they born like it? What kind of trauma led them to become such an a-hole? None of those questions are answered here. Instead, what you will find is what happens to terrible people when they realize that they’re terrible. Jared Padalecki is young, not particularly dumb (actually pretty smart, eventually) and definitely full of come. He’s also full of himself too. When his car-crash of a mother announces her marriage to Jensen Ackles (lol), Jared actually couldn’t care less but Jensen is harboring a secret. Mmm, I wonder what it could be?
BERRY PIE
1969 - the summer of love for young people all over the world, the moon landings and the last year of the swinging sixties. In Jared Padalecki's small world, none of that figured as he battles to make sense of himself and a girl called 'Juliet' in an unloving home. The Padalecki farmstead had always given the impression of a happy home; it was beautiful, the heart of the community and the family were well-respected. Jared had always felt a little different to what was expected of him and most of the time, his life and future felt hopeless and carved out for him. But there was something about him that said determination as he quietly and privately tried to bring 'Juliet' to life, the other part of him, the girl he so very often needed to be.
EROTAS
When Jensen was fifteen, he was selected by the Gods and the elders of the Sacred Army temple in Thebes to one day fight alongside a same sex lover as part of the three-hundred strong company of the most beautiful men in all of Ancient Greece. His looks, strength and sexuality was noticed by Zeus but the Theban council elders were hesitant to enlist him, worried that his peasant upbringing would not be the right fit for the army. At twenty-two, Jensen finally left his modest home to join the army, four years later than he should have. His beauty was much admired by his superiors who urged him to form a union of love and strength with the rich and equally beautiful Jared, who was plagued by prejudices of status encouraged by his biased mother. Jensen was loathe to chase after a man who did not want him despite Jared’s obvious beauty and soon Jensen’s eyes were eventually drawn elsewhere; love came swiftly to him in the arms another, leaving Jared seething with jealousy and the council left with no other choice but to take the matter into their own hands.
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE
Jared Padalecki is the most popular of all the boys at The Cactus Club, an all-male brothel in the state of Nevada. He’s good at his job because he needs the money and has big plans for his future, just like all the other young men in the club. At twenty-two, Jared is a veteran of sorts, the ‘mother hen’ of the brothel. Independent and quite strong-willed, Jared’s life is turned upside down after a tragedy rocks The Cactus Club but he soon learns that there is a much nicer world outside of Jared’s sex oriented existence and Detective Jensen Ackles is the reluctant cop who teaches him the ways of kinder way of life.
PRET A AIMER (READY TO LOVE)
Jensen Ackles is the most powerful man in the fashion industry, editor-in-chief of ‘Sync’ magazine and an all round uncompromising hard-ass. In the weeks leading up to Christmas, Jensen notices a leggy young man propping up the ‘Power House’ building where the ‘Sync’ headquarters are housed. Eventually, curiosity gets the better of him and after finding himself displeased with the models whom had been sent his way, he sends his assistant to drag the young man off the streets, a young man who turns Jensen’s world and the world of fashion upside down.
THIRTY YEARS IN AUGUST
After finding himself alone in a city he had always hated, amateur photographer and almost college student, Jared Padalecki takes himself off to Coney Island for the day in search of much needed adventure which he finds in the shape of one of America’s finest.
MIAMI & YOU
Miami based Jensen Ackles is a veteran porn star with a new venture on his mind and no plans to quit his career. After finding the perfect young man for his dubious project with the help of his manager Matt, Jensen’s unprepared body and mind are sent into turmoil.
WHOA, WE’RE GOING TO IBIZA
Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles had been together for four years but life decided to throw one pile of crap after another at them which led to a sad and bitter break-up. A few months previously, Jared had booked a vacation for himself, Jensen and eight of their best friends to Ibiza. Not wanting to let the side down, Jared and Jensen agreed to allow the trip to continue despite their messy relationship. It turned out to be just as awkward as everyone had expected and fraught with drama none of the friends saw coming.
A TOWN CALLED KISMET
It was 1994 and Jensen Ackles was doing his best impersonation of someone who didn’t constantly have thoughts about other men on the brain. It had never sat right with him, being gay. He had never said it out loud, even to himself and then spent the rest of his time, burying it all under a false life which he hated with a passion. At thirty-two Jensen was seen by the people of Kismet, Iowa as successful. He had a good job, his own home, his own car and kept himself in favor within the community by lying about being a good little Christian too. His ‘friends’ and neighbors had taken to the version of Jensen he had created to hide himself away from the world and for seven long years, he had just about managed to keep it all neatly tucked away. But then, life has a funny way of throwing boys off buses in the middle of ‘Bumfuck Nowhere’ and into the path of closeted gay men.
THE BOYS WHO USED TO BE US
Jensen Ackles had moved on and so had his very private high school crush, Jared Padalecki. Jensen hadn’t gone quite as far as the star student he quietly wanted and for years, Jensen had always wondered what had become of the boy he once adored. We all leave echoes behind us wherever we go; discarded family and friends, legacies of achievements and memories left behind in the minds of everyone important who peopled our youth.
Jared Padalecki may have gone but for Jensen, there was something of a whisper of that boy wherever he went, a blanket of memories wrapped around him for all of his adult life. Little did he know, that soon, he would be making new memories with the boy who finally came home.
GOOD MORNING LOVELY
Jared Padalecki is a writer of ‘smut’. He gets paid for it but it’s not all that fulfilling. After being given a new project from his demanding publisher, Jared decides to go and research what it was really like, living in a small picture perfect town during Fall. He soon finds out that it’s much more meta than he was expecting.
IT’S ONLY A PAPER MOON
Jensen Ackles doesn’t believe in ghosts but then who does in the real world? When he returns home after a disastrous night out dressed as the ‘Leather Man’ from The Village People, Jensen discovers that he’s not alone in his apartment and hasn’t been, for a very long time.
PUMPKIN WARS
Jensen and Jared are newbies in a neighborhood they had no business being a part of but after a Hallowe’en themed run-in with the bossy leader of the Home Owners Association, they soon bring the community together by scaring everyone’s kids shitless.
THE LIGHTHOUSE
Jared Padalecki had shifted his life from city chaos to small town comfort because even at twenty-six he decided he needed a quiet life. Rockfort, Maine was precisely what he needed. The place came with views, beauty, endless seas, an unlikely friend and the peace and quiet Jared had been craving for a long time. The towns most prominent feature, the old but majestic 1800’s lighthouse which had been guiding and keeping people safe for almost two centuries became one of Jared’s many places of work and his favourite thing about Rockfort and he didn’t realize at the time, just how significant the lighthouse would become in shaping his future.
JARED WITH A HEART
Jensen Ackles had never been a lover of social media. He just couldn’t see the appeal of posting every detail about his life online for a bunch of strangers to see. Didn’t care what that bunch of strangers were doing either. Jensen lived in the real world and he liked it there. However, during his nephews birthday party, Jensen found himself in possession of his sisters phone, a self-proclaimed social media addict herself. Leanne had only meant to show him something but that small gesture led to Jensen finding love exactly how he always hoped he would.
VIRTUAL INSANITY
The year is 2073 and Cherry Computers have taken over that other fruit-based tech giant. A largely ethical company, Cherry know how to look after the employees who work in ‘Earth X’, the world’s first virtual reality world. The perks are great and endless and working inside a beta VR means that employees can be whoever they want and create their own worlds. However, living in a fantasy-land can lose its shine when human beings forget to live in the real world.
ANGEL FACE
Jared Padalecki had a problem but it only appeared to a problem for everyone else. Jared was a professional sugar baby and cam boy and he embraced it. After breaking up with his long-term sugar daddy, Jared is ‘head-hunted’ and offered a dubious job by a mysterious yet gorgeous man who had been watching him from the shadows.
NUTS ABOUT YOU
The town of Chestnut Hollow famously held a Christmas Carol Contest every year to coincide with their wholesome Christmas Market. Bookstore owner, Jensen Ackles who loved his hometown to pieces wasn’t always that enthralled by the influx of visitors to the sleepy, picturesque town he called home but after a frosty encounter with enthusiastic choir conductor, Jared Padalecki, Jensen is forced to find himself thoroughly and festively enthralled!
THE BOX OF DELIGHTS
Recently single and not by choice, Jensen Ackles also found himself stranded alone in New York after a bitter break-up. Being alone and away from family was the worst at any time of the year but the holiday season hit harder. After a talk with his mother, Jensen is encouraged to inject a little Christmas spirit into his life and so finds himself one Sunday morning at a flea market with Christmas decorations on his mind. Everything is old and tatty but an intriguing box takes his fancy which turns out to contain more ‘delights’ than he could have ever dreamed of.
HOT SANTA
Jared Padalecki was used to having everything fall into his lap. But he had never been lazy and had proved that by excelling at the life he had been handed. No one was ever truly one hundred percent happy though, even the privileged. Money could solve a lot of problems but not all of them. With only his therapist and endless hook-ups aware of his secret, Jared lived his life around his family firmly in the closet and money really couldn’t fix that problem. At the annual Padalecki Christmas party, Jared had always been in charge of supplying the visiting Santa Claus to keep his nieces and nephews happy and festive. With work being crazy that year, Jared forgot and found himself on page two of Google, desperately trying to find a last-minute Santa. As luck would have it, he found one and he wasn’t ideal, at least not as far as the kids were concerned.
LET’S FALL IN LOVE AND DO NOTHING
Self-proclaimed ‘North America’s Laziest Man’, Jensen Ackles has just quit his latest job. At the age of thirty-six, he suddenly realizes that it’s about time he made some changes to his life. After applying for a new position suggested by a friend, Jensen gets a job working as a house boy in Aspen over the Christmas holidays. All he has to do is cook the family meals, serve at the dinner table and not, under any circumstances, diddle the boss’s son.
STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT
It was Christmas Eve and trucker Jensen Ackles had found himself at his familiar truck stop in snowy Minnesota. Not wanting to spend the holidays alone, he expects to find the boy he often paid for sex to keep him company on Christmas Day but when he arrives the boy is nowhere to be found. To console himself, Jensen sits down to eat at the truck stop diner but is interrupted in his solitude by a disarming French fry thief who winds up changing the course of both of their lives.
BATTLE OF THE BALLS
After the chaos of Hallowe’en, new ‘gaybors’ Jensen and Jared have sunk perfectly into their blossoming relationship and successfully ousted evil Wendy as their HOA ‘dictator-in-chief’, almost. With the holiday season on the horizon, Jared is determined to take their festive decorations to another insane level. During that time they clash with Wendy once again and wind up as reluctant therapists after another neighbor seeks their advice.
FROM LONDON WITH LOVE
After moving to London, England for work and on the cusp of regretting his decision, Jared Padalecki finds himself alone at Christmas in a city with no friends. With work colleagues occupied for the duration of the holiday season and his family overseas, Jared can do little else but keep himself busy by exploring the city. On a rainy evening a few days before Christmas, Jared stumbles across a market and decides to try some warm spiced to cheer (and warm) himself up. While taking in the view of the River Thames, Jared is approached by a devastatingly handsome man who has a familiar cadence to his voice and within only minutes of meeting him, offers Jared a very festive but decent proposal.

20 questions for fic writers
I was tagged!!!! thank you @ursae-minoris-world, you're truly so so kind to think of me.
I'll be real honest, I'm only on tumblr very intermittently and I don't really know how to use the platform at all. I'm scared that my formatting will be really messy and make people angry if I put a wall of text on their feed. So hopefully I figure out how to do the jump cut. But I just finished a fic so it's very fun to do one of these and talk about my writing. And I always like to see other people too, so I thought, hey I will give it a shot. Here's the questions:
How many works do you have on ao3? Right now I just finished my 74th work on ao3! Fifty four of those are vld, twenty four are sheith proper
2. What's your total word count on ao3? 993,716 words. I'm set to hit a million this year, I think!
3. What fandoms do you write for? LOL can you believe it? We're still loving Mr. Keith Voltron in the glorious year of our lord 2024
4. What are your top five fic by kudos? Oh well, my sk friends aren't going to be impressed--- my kl fics always take top spots for kudos and bookmarks. I attribute this not to talent or popularity but just because that side of the fandom has a much wider reach. For the sake of the questionnaire, I'll answer properly, in order: 'it's you that's haunting me' takes the top spot by a wide margin at 2,591 kudos to date. 'that mullet, etc' is currently at 1,788 kudos, and after that it's 'cross my heart,' 'swapping out silence,' and 'things that go bump in the night.'
5. Do you respond to comments? I do! for me, one of the best parts of fic is the community between authors and their audience. For the majority of my fandom life I've considered myself more of a reader than a writer, so I really treasure it when I leave a comment and an author responds. It's so special. As an author, I do respond to every comment, though sometimes it takes me a long time. I'm always so impressed that people are not only reading my words but digesting them and thinking on them too. It's wild to me. A very precious gift.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Oh, my friend, that fic is yet to come. the wip I've got on my closest back burner has a real humdinger of an angsty ending. I'm excited about it. hmmmm if I had to answer now.....I'm not sure! usually I'm a happy ending kind of girl
7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? well well well, now I have to answer this one properly don't I? Are we thinking happiest like 'biggest emotional pay off for the reader'? Or happiest like 'Keith is wildly happy' by the end? I think 'heart nailed open' has a very good emotional pay off (though I wrote it so perhaps I can't judge too well on behalf of the reader). If I am really thinking, in which fic is Keith truly the happiest he could ever be by the end...well, I try always to make Keith happy but, in 'the whole story' he has everything he could ever want AND a very nice couch.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Not routinely. I did, actually, get a very nasty comment on a fic in 2023 and it legitimately hurt my feelings. Made me feel like I should not be writing at all, actually. But, can you believe it? Friends came out of the woodwork-- people I rarely talk to, even-- and jumped in my comments section and really defended me. like, I really had all kinds of people on my side, defending me! So that meant a lot to me, and I was honestly so surprised, and I'd like to give every one of those friends the kindest hand press because I really did feel very taken care of in the aftermath.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Oh, I don't know! I have plenty of E rated fics but I don't know if I will ever master a true PWP. to me, the sex scenes I write are not so original or exciting, nothing to really write home about lol. I'm not a fan of publicly being negative about my stuff, so I will simply say that I wish I could write some really off beat toe curling wild kink, but it's probably just not my personality to do so LOL
Is this getting really long?? should I be embarrassed ? should I close the tab and never think on this again? hmmm no
10. Do you write cross overs? Cross overs with what, my dear? There's only one Keith
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Oh I think 'it's you that's haunting me' strolled on over to wattpad or some such site without my permission back in the day, but I've never really looked into it. What I don't know cannot hurt me, right? I highly doubt that there's been some crazy highway robbery for perfchan words.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? I don't think I have! But I did have someone ask to record a podfic for one of my stories, and I was so flattered and thrilled!!!!!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Nope! I don't have much interest in this, I am very shy about my writing and I fear I would be too cagey to be a very good collaborator.
14. what's your all time favorite ship? Keith x Being Loved and Cherished the Way He Ought to Be
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? (covers face) I don't have any unfinished WIPs.... it's not in my Type A personality to leave things undone.....
16. What are your writing strengths? This is something to really ponder!!! What /are/ my strengths!!! huh!!! well. I figured out early on that my favorite things to write are atmospheric and setting heavy -- both my most popular fic (it's you that's haunting me) and my most personally beloved fic (heart nailed open) have this in common: they have a lot of detail about the setting, and a lot of effort put into ~vibes~ of the story. so I think, if I could be self indulgent and chose which writing bits I'm good at, it's that type of thing. I really like crafting a scene you can settle into with all of your senses
17. what are your writing weaknesses? too many to list!!! I very often read my own writing and I always enjoy it (I wrote it for myself afterall) but sometimes I wonder....why did I spend so long on this particular bit? I think I am not very good at making a story tight. I wish I could master the art of being able to 'trim the fat' so to speak, really be precise with the story, but I simply don't have the chops! I can never understand how to make it better than I already have! perhaps if I keep writing long enough, I will get better at this
18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? this question would really open up a can of worms on the kl side of the fandom LOL. I will admit it, I've had Lance speak spanish a time or two. I don't speak spanish myself so in those rare instances I have been VERY careful to keep things straightforward and try really really hard to not be cringe worthy to native speakers
19. First fandom you wrote for? the first thing I posted online was a USUK fic in a hetalia LJ comm. I can distinctly remember the first time I ever read a fic with *there was only one bed* (it was usuk) and WHEN I TELL YOU MY EYES WERE OPENED. I was forever changed on that day. of course I wanted to try my hand at writing after that
20. Favorite fic you've written? You would ask me to chose a favorite of my children!!! Oh! I simply could not!!! No, seriously, it's 'heart nailed open.' I love that fic
This got so long !!!!!! I can't imagine anyone reading all this !!!!!!!! but omg if you did thank you!!!!!! I'm shy about tagging people in the best of times, and like I said at the very beginning, I am very very shaky on tumblr etiquette, so I had better not tag anyone. but if my friends enemytosleep or grem or kacy or monday happen to see this, I would be very excited to read your responses!!! okay bye!!

Hi Ames!! First and foremost, thank you for holding this positivity event!! They're some of my favorites and it's so nice to see everyone recognized!!
My first shoutout goes to one of my two besties, @goldenseresinretriever!! Ruthie is so incredibly talented in the way she writes her fics. She makes you laugh, cry, and just genuinely feel for all of her characters, and I seriously can't get enough of her AUs. I am so incredibly privileged to call her one of my friends.
My second shoutout goes to my second bestie, @fanficfandomlove. Nat is so incredibly supportive of the writers on here and I would print out every single one of her reblogs and hang them in my house if I could.
Both these girls show me so much love and support when it comes to my fics, it's unreal!
Bugs, @jupitercomet, gets a shoutout as well for being my inspiration to start writing fanfic! She is so incredibly talented, and I always look forward to reading her works!!
Next, @seresinhangmanjake's series "The One I Want" is so well written, and I can't get enough of it!! I can't wait to dive into my TBR list and read her other works!
@tongue-like-a-razor's BBF series is so insanely good! It always leaves me wanting more, and I can't wait to see what happens next!!
Steph, @bobgasm, never fails to make me laugh with their memes and tags!! Their posts absolutely make my day and they are such an incredibly talented writer!! Their series "Kingpin" is seriously so good!!!
@seresinsbrat is such a good friend, and I love talking with her about different ideas for fics. Another incredibly talented writer!!
@callsigncurse and her werewolf!Jake series are both amazing!! I can't wait to see where she takes it!!
And special shoutouts to @na-ta-sh-aa @nouis-bum @yuckosworld @stoptaking-the-good-names @im-just-ken @hookslove1592 @seresinslady @dingochef @mamachasesmayhem @devil-angel-winchester @blue-aconite and everyone else who comments and reblogs or randomly messages me about my fics and encourage me every step of the way!! I couldn't do it without them! 💛
i really love scrolling through other people's positivity nights so i'm happy to be hosting one 🤍 happy new year, liz!

I am so tired I need Fili to bridal style carry me to my room and cuddle me to sleep and also marry me and never leave me, I don't think that's too much to ask for in life 🤣🤣🤣
P.s I spent the entire day daydreaming about this dwarf and your fic of him! It's such a good story! ❤
As a way if answering this Ask, I present to you my answer to the Last Sentence Tag Game I was tagged on by @scriberated (Thank you, my friend!)
"Please, you don't have to…" he said, when he once tried to stop her from bowing to him as they passed each other in the hall. "It is only proper, my lord," she murmured, keeping her lovely eyes lowered to her feet, only doubling Fili's frustrations. "I bid you a good day, Prince Fili."
Dear Anon, I'm in total agreement with you about the Prince of Erebor--what a lovely dream! And thank you so much for your kind words. ❤️ I'm honestly a little surprised by your comment and almost want to question whether you have the right writer! My one Fili fic (so far) is just the first chapter of a WIP multi-chapter story, and while I think it's quite nice and sweet... I'm not sure it's worthy of such praise. At least, not yet!
But if The Only Gold is indeed the story you are referring to, then I am glad it made you happy in some way and encouraged your love for the wonderful Fili!
Because you inspired me with the Imagine you described above, I'm writing a Fili x Reader fluffy romance one-shot that is reminiscent of Cinderella. I hope the little teaser above makes you smile.
Wishing you lots of sweet Fili dreams! ❤️ Stay well and take care of yourself!
