saw a poll that made me kinda think like. so ir was abt if having sections devoted to strictly writers of color was a good idea or if it just came off as segregation. i think i have a kinda. its a weird feeling. just rambling bc its 5am and i cant sleep but i think as a poc who actively tries to prioritize my reading to focus on authors of color and to curate my media to come from a non-white perspective as a purposeful retaliation against the assumption of good = white and the dominance of white creators in the arts. it is a good and helpful tool for me. i dont think i would lump it all together but i think having a dedicated spot for these works is important. especially bc its like...if you dont actively make space for it, they wont be heard. thats the way white supremacy functions. you have to actively seek out to create the space and highlight it bc most ways of determining what to feature or not never prioritize the nonwhite creative. i think theres a lot of nuance and i think everyone should be challenging themselves to be reading more authors of color. i think ive read maybe...one? recently? and it was anne carson for a gift project. its how i immerse myself in also just such a diverse structure of writing and how we understand abd break it down especially bc so many writing conventions reinforce white supremacy or english supremacy and just. i have a lot of thoughts as a writer of color but i would love smth that fully focused on writers of color

Anne Carson, “O Small Sad Ecstasy of Love”
[text ID: I like being with you all night with closed eyes. / What luck—here you are / coming / along the stars! / I did a road trip / all over my mind and heart / and / there you were / kneeling by the roadside / with your little toolkit / fixing something. // Give me a world, you have taken the world I was.]
