god tastes sweet with permission and sweeter with metaxu, i think. is there a word for knowing god by tasting god by knowing how not to taste god? (god-)hunger that is met apophatically and cataphatically? it took the early jesus movement less than a century to forbid touching the eucharist (or even its pyx) with anything but the tongue. you only savor when you know how not to, etc etc

god is the first bite freely given
