I know exactly what you mean though, with hoping that Akari and Shisui can reunite and be together. Their relationship is so infinitely precious to me, and I hate so much that he died in canon the boy deserved to grow up and live and love and find happiness. I think it makes for a good story, especially with the self-sacrifice, big God he was so young

Akari ending up with Obito was an accident tbh. In her original story, post 4th war she was single. Had her kids from ROOT and her friends and smooched Kakashi sometimes. But she wasn't anywhere even approaching the level of emotional vulnerability required for a relationship, and neither was Kakashi. He's one of her oldest friends and she loves him deeply, but they would just be bad for each other. And then I came up with an Obito lives AU, an found myself far too attached to ObiKari as a couple. All about mutual growth and acceptance and finding their place in the world. When I realized that canon is my playground, I made the Obito lives AU canon to Akari's story and. here we are.

I love that Obito comes to trust and care for little Tobi so much that when Shisui and Kakashi appear from nowhere to grab his mask he doesn't even think to Kamui away
