Christmas 2
Merry Christmas Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful day! God bless you all and I hope you all made the best out it that you could! Just a little requested fluff between my OC’s!
XxXxXxXxX
Wandering around the house, Ashe made sure to take a moment to appreciate all the decorations people had put up. Ami had really gone all out this year. Tinsel and holly was aggressively decked around the halls. There enough candles to be almost as big of a fire hazard as she was, and every twenty feet or so there seemed to be another motion-detector decoration that would start to sing or shake when she walked past.
It was painfully Christmas and Ashe was loving every minute of it. It wasn't exactly a secret why Ami had gone all out this year. After all the pain, suffering, and heart break they had dealt with the past year, anything that could distract them from their worries for a night was definitely worth the effort.
Passing by a hanging mirror in the hallway, she paused to check her hair. A bit of a silly notion considering her current attire, but considering she was currently looking for her boyfriend she figured old habits just died hard.
She was currently decked head to toe in a large fluffy reindeer onsie, topped with a pair of fuzzy antlers. She had woken up to find it sitting outside her door with a note in Ami's handwriting that just said “wear me.”
Ashe had no hesitation, and was actually surprised by how cute it looked on her. Unfortunately she hadn't seen Tyler yet, she really was looking forward to seeing his reaction to it. Her one complaint was the lack of pockets on it, which meant she had to awkward fish around the inside of her onsie to grab anything from her pajamas underneath which she sure didn't look to appropriate.
Humming the theme from “Frosty the Snowman”, a tune that had been in her heard the entirety of the winter season much to the chagrin of her partner, she peaked around the corners. A few people in the house complimented her on the onsie, remarking how cute it was or asking her to pose for a picture of two. Not that she minded of course, she was just getting tired of looking for a certain someone. His habit of just seemingly vanishing from existence whenever she was looking for him was amazingly inconvenient at times.
“You look fine.” Ami said, knocking on the door to a bathroom.
It really didn't take long for Ashe to put things together, trying to understand who her sister could possibly be yelling at through the door.
“Ashe!” Ami said, squealing when she saw how cute Ashe looked in the outfit. Immediately her phone practically appeared in her hand as she started to take a bunch of photos. “Tyler, you need see Ashe.”
There was a thump from the other side of the door, causing Ashe to worry slightly and Ami to just laugh. “Just come on out and stop pouting. I promise you you look cute.” She repeated, silently rolling her eyes to Ashe indicating just how many times she had tried to convince him of that fact. A fact Ashe was pretty sure was true, Ami would never do anything to actually humiliate Tyler in a mean spirited way.
“Tyler, please?” Ashe said, walking up and resting a hand on the door.
There was a moment, before she her a faint sigh from the other side of the door. The lock was turned, and the door opened to revealing a blushing Tyler, looking off to the side. Like her, he was also dressed head to tail in a large white onsie, topped with a fabric top hat, and coal buttons up from the front of the onsie. He looked so cute it made Ashe's heart hurt.
“You're adorable.” She cooed, unable to stop herself.
Tyler's shoulders just raised and lowered in a sigh as she recognized the look of resign that crossed his face whenever he was about to do something annoying for someone else's sake.
Stepping forward, she kissed his cheek. “Thanks for being a good sport.” She offered, gently.
Tyler's eyes shifted towards hers, before a genuine smile crossed his features. “You owe me.” He said, his gaze shifting to Ami.
Ami just nodded. “There's an entire apple pie baking right now that is set aside just for you.”
Tyler's eyes widened and he nodded. “We're good.”
Ashe just laughed and patted his stomach. “So simple.”
Tyler finally seemed to realize what she was wearing and she saw his eyes trace over her. He smiled, and bit his lip as if he was suppressing a smirk. “Okay, I don't actually know how you manage to look so cute.”
Ashe just smiled and stepped back, grabbing the sides of the onsie slightly as she stretched it out to show it off, leaning on one foot in a pose. Tyler just stared at her with a smile that made her face flush. “Can you send me one of those photos?” He said to Ami who was still taking a bunch.
“Of course, one of these too.” She offered, confusing Tyler before she suddenly shoved him into Ashe. Catching her boyfriend, Ashe helped steady him before she realized Ami was posing them together.
Tyler just sighed, but instead of protesting like she expected, she felt his arm wrap around her waist and pull her closer. They all must have been finally rubbing off on him, he definitely becoming more open to her sister's antics.
Nestling herself a little closer into his side, she wrapped her arm around her shoulders and smile for Ami.
Judging by her expression, the two of them posing for her without issue was clearly the best thing to happen to her on this Christmas Eve. She took a few photos, and it took them about a minute until she realized she had switched to recording a video. Tyler started to protest but she leaned over and just kissed his cheek.
Tyler just sighed and grabbed her hand, leaving behind a snickering Ami as they headed towards the kitchen.
Ashe figured it was going to be difficult to try and pry her boyfriend away from the food for the next two days if last year was any indication.
Ali was in the kitchen, pouring some kind of hard alcohol into a glass of eggnog before turning to them. Raising an eyebrow, a smile played at her lips. “Okay, Ami was right. Those do look cute on you two.” She offered, leaning against the counter and sipping her drink.
Ashe just flashed her a smile, then laughed when she saw Tyler's cheeks grow a little pinker as he busied himself cutting himself and her a cinnamon roll each.
Ashe just leaned over his shoulder, resting her chin on it as she watched him work. “Merry Christmas Eve.”
“Merry Christmas Eve.” He said, before reaching up and dabbing her nose with a dollop of cream cheese frosting.
Ashe just rolled her eyes, before she scooped it up and licked it. She took her plate and lead them over towards one of the love seats. Tyler sat down on it and she sat across his lap, her legs dangling over one of the arms as they started snacking.
“I love Christmas.” She said after a moment.
“Me too.” Tyler replied honestly, before shoving another large bite in his mouth.
Before long they put the plates aside and were just cuddling for now, listening to the soft Christmas carols echoing through the house.
Michael had stopped by with his wife, her remarking on how cute they both looked before they went out for a nice brunch date.
Gabriel had made an appearance as well, making playful banter with them for a while before he excused himself. He had a long standing tradition of volunteering at a food donation center with one of his old friends every Christmas eve. Ashe and Tyler had actually already agreed to help with the food prep later on as well, but they still had time before they were scheduled to show up.
Tommy and Bia had shown up finally as well on their way out the door. They had plans with their families, so they were both going back home for the two days. But they made sure to give Tyler and Ashe their gifts, and hugs for good measure before they said their goodbyes.
Tyler was off getting his third cinnamon roll when Ali had entered the room again with a large box.
“Ashe, you going to set it up?” She offered, holding it out to her.
Nodding, Ashe grabbed the box as she moved off towards the fireplace. Sure enough Tyler was at her side a few minutes later, looking over her shoulder confused.
“What's that?” He asked.
Ashe just smiled, and started humming hallelujah. Opening the box, she pulled out a bunch of older, weathered figures. Instantly recognizing them, Tyler just smiled gently and looked at her for permission, which she granted before he started careful pulling them out of the bubble wrap as well.
Placing the barn, Ashe started setting up the nativity scene. Tyler handed her pieces as she worked her way through it, still humming gently.
“These were Gabriel's. He got them years ago, hand crafted by an old friend apparently. He gave them to me a few years ago.” Ashe explained, seeing her boyfriend pause and look at them again with a new appreciation.
There were really only a handful of physical objects she treasured. A few mementos of her family, the fox Tyler gave her, and this set of figurines mostly.
Once they finished setting up the scene, they stepped back and looked at it. She felt Tyler's arm go around her shoulder as he kissed the top of her head.
He stepped away after a moment, which confused her until she felt her sister replace him, hugging her gently.
She hugged Ami back, feeling nostalgic as she thought back to a lot of their earlier Christmas'.
Tyler was standing off to the side, clearly feeling a bit out of place until she saw Ali walk up, and rest an arm on his shoulder. Tyler just looked at her, beaming and Ashe felt a deep sense of peace. The busy house, the delicious food, the family around her. All of that settled into a familiar, warm hum in her heart. Her thoughts drifted from around her to the nativity scene, the miracle she believed in for the true reason of the holiday and the gift we had all received.
They were all like that for a few moments until the sound of a DSLR went off and Ashe glanced back to see Jackie giving them a thumbs up. Ashe smiled at her, figuring that would be one of her new favorite photos. Jackie was really a good photographer.
Ali checked her watch and patted Tyler's shoulder. “We should all get going. We're on the lunch shift to volunteer today and I feel like getting there late is in poor taste.
Tyler laughed and nodded.
Ami pouted. “But the onsies...” Ashe and Tyler both went to go change into more appropriate clothes, but neither of them were particularly surprised when they went down the stairs to see Ami holding out a pair of matching ugly Christmas sweaters, a sleigh on one, leading to a team or reindeer on the others.
Ashe and Tyler just shared a look, before deciding to be nice to their sister and they put them on without a fight.
A few minutes later and they were on their way to the shelter, laughing and singing Christmas carols. A few, soul lifting and burden easing hours of volunteer work and they were all back in the mansion. As the final parts of dinner were cooking, Ashe found herself sitting on the piano bench next to Tyler. He was currently playing Mary, did you know? As Ashe sang along. Ali was watching them fondly as Ami hummed the tune along with her. A few other stragglers from the mansion had been lured in by Tyler's excellent piano playing as well as their own little mini group worked through the Christmas carols, singing to their hearts content.
As they sang, Ashe looked over to see her boyfriend smiling peacefully as his hands danced across the keys, flawlessly leading them through the songs at a comfortable pace.
He looked over at her and smiled and Ashe just felt something in her chest melt. Despite all the hardship and hell they go through, all the battles they fight, moments like this have already made everything worth it. She never felt more thankful, and she would always remember days like this whenever shadows troubled her. Resting her head on his shoulder, Ashe just thanked God and sang a little louder.
