I hate the common opinion that he doesn't care about anyone just because he sees them as characters. He's a hypocrite and can be mean about the way he understands the world around him, but he is not cruel or mean just because he doesn't think everyone around him is the same as him. (A part of me wonders even if sometimes he wishes he was also just a character because then he wouldn't be so alone at times). He thinks that every story should get the chance to happen as they were meant to, regardless of how cruel they are because that's how fiction is. Every work of art deserves to exist even if you don't like it. He is not approaching them like they are valueless, simply that they have a reason for their existence and should ultimately proceed in that way. He is not uncaring and impassive to the events that take place. This is seen especially in the art and comics that depict their reaction to Top's canonical death and the love and affection he has for his family. He likes people and he has friends (error for example). His inability to perceive the world around him in a manner identical to those around him is not indicative of inherent cruelty and frankly it's ableist to demonize him to the extents I've seen some people do just because of the idea that being soulless and thinking of the people around him as characters on a script means he doesn't think of them as something of value. Some people even depict him as someone who thinks some people are replaceable when everything should point to the opposite. He protects them and supports creators. All of them. He is not perfect, but to reduce all his imperfections as a side effect of his soulless nature and then further making him cruel as a character with only that as the reasoning just comes off as a shallow understanding of his character. He cares and he cares a lot! He just doesn't perceive things the same way. Any flaws he has are not a result of his lack of soul. In fact canonically his paints are basically identical to real feelings and he's quite happy with them. It's like taking medicine to me. Without them he stops moving altogether. I just think we can do better to write him and depict him as a character. Even when he is flawed you should celebrate the complexity of his character rather than find a way to reason out that he's only doing it because he doesn't have a soul. He has a complex way of seeing the multiverse, one that's very hypocritical because he is the same as those around him, and closer to how an actual creator and writer should perceive their work, and his experiences and unique circumstances should provide us with enough material to play around with his traits, good and bad.
TLDR: You can make him a dickhead yeah but why does it keep boiling down to "he's a dickhead because he's soulless and doesn't actually care about anything as a result"
Anyways, i want you guys to give me your unpopular opinion about Ink (it's for science)
#i just don't like the undertones of the idea that his emotions are fake#because sometimes the world#the real one i mean#and i always worried myself thinking am i a bad person because i cant feel the same as everyone else seems to#is hard for me to percieve with everything going on at once and with all the morals and opinions of everyone at once sounding correct#and i manage with my own coping mechanisms and they arent the same as what people around me have#but they make me feel right#and ultimately i decided that you dont need to see the world the same as everyone else to be a good person as long as you try#and i dont like the shallow villainization of the idea that someone who doesn't feel like theyre like everyone else#would become a terrible person just because of those things#even when canonically in inks case hes shown time and time again to want to be a good person in general#it rubs me the wrong way#phew that got personal#sorry fellas

Hi there!
Do you have ideas for Beta TeruKane??
hi Anon! ^w^
i presume you mean like the pilots? oh boyyy yes this is so fun!
so beta!Akane we got was in one of AidaIro's short stories for a competition, and in a Oneshot. beta!Teru is something we never got, only mentioned, but I could imagine what my boy Teru was like...
I'll try and keep this brief so we can get to Beta TeruKane...
Beta!Akane seemed a lot more either emotional or smirky.
Beta!Akane already seems more laid back and smiley then the now one, more open with classmates and friends.
he even stops here when he's noticed, I don't think canon Akane would stop like this, and say his hand slipped tbh
we've seen Akane go for the kill before, with the after school with Satou and Yokoo, but he isn't like this so yk
and he reacts to things differently then canon would
ALSO HE SUPER GAY!!! like this man isn't hiding anything...
Akane here after seeing a photoshop of Hatori being well....
his first reaction is "woah..." AND ISN'T APPOSED HE'S JUST IN AWE??????
his first reaction to why Aoi fell in love with Yamabuki is well....just him being him, Akane never questioned "why" she did, although he DID call Yamabuki names but well....
he said he wouldn't have minded being friends with him and that he enjoyed his company, he even stopped to hear Yamabuki out in the first place.
not to mention he wants to talk about Hatori, and how she feels about him and what she likes, tbh sounds like you're gay for the council president again Akane....
and Teru was only mentioned ONCE in the pilot and that was by Kou...
he's studying and seems plans for more in his future then our current Teru. and clearly isn't as "on top" of everything and seems more on average-ish intellect and is actually taking time to study. and he like canon asked Kou to help with the seven mysteries case, but it's not as much as a problem as in current but Teru trusted Kou more in pilot then how he is in the manga, and I can see why, Kou is a lot better and more set on his morals in the pilot...
but I can imagine beta!Teru took the happy go lucky he was on the date and 10x that, he'd be happier like how Akane seems more genuinely nice, but murderous.
but we all saw how Kou acted and seems like how he was raised. so Teru would be a BIT more uplifting when he exercises supernaturals, but if anything he'd have a blank expression contrary to Kou's expression before the roof broke beneath him. clearly the Minamoto's in pilot don't waste time, so I'm not so sure Teru's tactic Kou explained in the young exercist arc would be as present in the pilot.
basically I think he'd be like this 24/7
and his school persona, wouldn't be as fake, he'd be more
MORE THIS YK????BUT MORE HAPPY SMILE INTIMIDATING SAYING DISTURBING SHIT???
okay so we have middle school Akane + Teru getting good sleep
I think TeruKane hating each other would be more low-key, when I say that I mean they'd be more undertone. not in an indirect way, but when Akane was like this
this would be more how Akane would act tbh, and Teru would be more like how he was in the after school chapter (chapter six) or when he issued the challenge in chapter 59.
they'd be either happy go lucky "I hate your fucking guts^^" or straight faced "are you seriously trying me right now?"
Akane might get crazy looking at times (unlike canon) like when he talked about Aoi-Chan except he's mad Teru keeps interrupting his council work. Teru on the other hand ignores his antics and continues his work, but nonchalantly just making his life harder and acting like he didn't do anything wrong, and is curious on why he feels that way.
like canon they still mutually trust each other but Teru gives that smile he gave in chapter 29 when Nene leaves the council room.
Akane as much as in canon is quick to admit Teru is VERY attractive beta!Akane is more open about it, he's just gayer okay???? Akane can actually see why the school has fallen for him but will still says he's a shrewd bastard and that the school SHOULDN'T fall for him. and Beta!Akane would just give that plastered blank face we got pilot Akane wearing a lot.
Teru when he's talking about how unpleasant Akane is he'd give his sigh closed eye face I put in the images of Teru earlier.
beta TeruKane is kinda scary but also very fun ówò it can be hard to imagine some of the scenarios in canon with beta and deciding whether they'd do the same or react the same or what would be different but I LOVE canon sm idk how I could change my beloved TeruKane😭
okay I'm done ehe~ I hope this was good for you Anon~! I really enjoyed this ask tbh and was very excited about it...

Prompt idea. Beca and Chloe are going to have dinner or whatever after a few weeks of barely contacting each other. Chloe seems distracted and Beca is worried and suddenly she notices brusies on Chloe's neck and all over her arms. Beca suggests that this is caused by Chloes current boyfriend Chicago and Beca gets really angry. Don't know how the end could be ~ :D
ahh angst is so much fun! thanks for the prompt and enjoy!💕
Beca missed this. She missed Chloe. She missed having her around all the time. Missed her beautiful smile, her blue eyes, her freckles. Missed the way the redheaded girl had always brightened up her days.
And she was still missing her now. Because the Chloe currently standing in her living room wasn’t really Chloe at all. She wasn’t her Chloe, not anymore. Her Chloe had been bubbly and friendly, always laughing, always excited and way too talkative. This Chloe, Chicago’s Chloe, was the opposite of that, Beca had noticed. She was quiet and seemed to be distracted all the time, in her own world. She wasn’t even sitting down on Beca’s couch, instead just standing there as if she was waiting for permission to move.
And Beca didn’t know whether it was Chicago’s fault or if the redhead had simply changed over the past few months. Because that was a normal thing that happened, right? People change. And she hadn’t exactly seen Chloe a lot recently. They used to see each other every day, hell, they had lived together. They’d shared a bed, shared their home, shared their clothes, shared smiles, deep conversations in the middle of the night, hugs, their deepest secrets. They’d shared everything. And now Chloe was barely a shadow in her life. Someone she used to know. Someone she saw every few weeks for a short amount of time. And what used to be interesting conversations and a lot of laughing was now mostly awkward silence. It was Beca now who always tried to keep the conversation going, trying to find out how Chloe was doing, how her life was going. Their roles had reversed and Beca didn’t even know why, because Chloe didn’t talk about her personal life anymore. She sometimes wondered whether she had been as frustrating, too, in the beginning. Had Chloe ever felt like she was feeling now? Like she was building up walls around herself without letting anyone in.
It wasn’t that Chloe didn’t like Beca anymore. The brunette could tell that she did. Could tell by the litte shy smile that was on the redhead’s lips whenever they saw each other, the soft twinkle in her eyes or the way she would bite her lip and visibly relax whenever Beca grinned at her. She still liked her, but she was acting so unlike herself that Beca couldn’t help but worry anyways.
“You can sit down, you know?” Beca chuckled and pointed to the couch, raising her eyebrows at Chloe who was still standing there like she didn’t know what to do. It wasn’t what Beca had imagined when she had asked the other girl out for dinner to catch up, but she didn’t mind. Because Chloe was here in her apartment and even though she was acting off, she was still Chloe. And having her around still made her feel so damn comfortable.
“Uhh yeah, I… I know…” Chloe mumbled and quickly sat down, making sure to keep everything neat and clean on the couch, not even sitting down on the blanket that was just laying there. And she was very obviously embarrassed, blushing slightly.
“Are you okay?” Beca asked without thinking about it. It wasn’t the first time this question had come up, but she needed answers. Needed to know what was going on with the other girl. Was it her own fault? Had she done something to upset the redhead?
“Of course I am!” It came out too quick, too cheerful, and the sweet smile on her lips looked fake.
And when Beca sat down next to her and asked again, all she got in response was another fake smile and a simple nod. And then another smile when she sighed in frustration, one that wasn’t fake, before Chloe went back to being distant. Her eyes looked empty and it broke Beca’s heart, but there was no point in trying to push the other girl. She wss going to tell her when she was ready, Beca was sure.
Dinner was awkward, to say the least. Beca had cooked, actually cooked, for Chloe and she could tell that the redhead was very appreciative of it, that she loved it, even. But she, again, showed it in a way that was so unlike herself that it took Beca off guard. She was still having trouble trying to be the one to initiate conversations, to keep them going.
Because that had always been Chloe’s job and while Beca had often found the bubbly girl to be way too forward and very annoying, she was missing it now. She wanted her annoying Chloe back.
Beca let Chloe choose the movie after dinner, something the other girl usually would’ve been overly excited about, but the redhead just smiled at her and chose a sad movie for them to watch. And Beca, again, was the one who tried to initiate things between them during the movie. Because all she could think of were the countless nights they’d spent cuddled up on the couch together. She missed that as well, being physically close to the other girl.
She was absentmindedly caressing Chloe’s arm when the girl suddenly scrambled away from her and got up, a terrified look on her face that made Beca quickly sit up as well, shooting her a questioning look.
“Chloe? Are you alright…?” she asked, not able, not even wanting, to hide the worried undertone in her voice.
“Why do you keep touching me?!” Chloe snapped, tears welling up in her eyes. And Beca knew that she didn’t mean it, that she wasn’t angry. She looked scared more than anything.
“Chloe, I…”
“No! Can’t you just keep your hands to yourself for once?!”
Chloe was crying now and a part of Beca was thankful for it. She was thankful that Chloe seemed to finally show some emotions again and happy that she could still do more than to quietly sit there and look miserable. She knew it wasn’t her fault and she wasn’t blaming her, but maybe now she could finally figure out what was going on. Because Chloe loved being touched. She loved physical contact and she loved touching others. In fact, she had always been the most touchy feely person Beca had ever met. Until she had met Chicago, it seemed.
It was then that Beca saw the bruises for the first time and it hit her like a punch in the face, her heart falling to the pit of her stomach and all color draining from her face.
“He’s hurting you.”
It was a simple statement, not a question. Beca didn’t have to ask, she knew.
Chloe didn’t say anything for a while, seemingly shocked as well. There were more and more tears streaming down her beautiful face but she was looking down, trying to fix the sleeve of her shirt that had ridden up her arm, the reason why Beca had seen her bruises in the first place.
“Oh I’m going to fucking kill this asshole!” Beca suddenly yelled, already storming towards the door. All she saw was red, all she could hear was her own heart beating in her chest and all she wanted to do was to punch something, preferably a certain someone called Chicago. She was pretty sure she’d never been that angry in her whole entire life and she barely noticed Chloe begging Beca to stop screaming, not to go.
“Beca, please…”
Her little, frightened voice finally got through to Beca but she simply couldn’t hold back. He was the reason for all of this. He was the reason Chloe was so damn miserable, not even the same person anymore. It had been his fault all along and Beca wanted to scream at him, tell him how disgusting he was, make him feel guilty for all of it. She wanted him to be in just as much pain as Chloe was.
“No, Chloe. He hurt you and I’m going to fucking kill hi-”
“Please, Beca. Don’t…. he’s…h-he’s a nice guy… he didn’t mean to…”
And this was, by far, the thing that was breaking Beca’s heart the most. Chloe defending the guy who had done this to her, who had hurt her. It made her want to punch him even more.
“Chlo, he deserves it! He did this to you and I’m going to make him pay for i-”
“Beca, don’t. Don’t leave me alone now…” Chloe was tightly holding onto her arm now, desperately trying to pull her back into the living room, away from the door. And all Beca could do was nod in defeat before Chloe was suddenly in her arms, her face buried in the crook of her neck as she was silently sobbing against her skin.
And Beca didn’t say anything, some of her own tears rolling down her cheeks as she simply caressed the girl’s back for a while, rocking back and forth gently until the redhead had calmed down again, at least a little.
“I-I don’t… don’t wanna go home…” Chloe quietly admitted after a while, causing Beca to pull her closer. She wanted her to feel safe, and she wanted to be the one to provide that safety for her.
“You really thought I was going to let you go back there again? You’re staying here, Chlo. For as long as you want.”
