What do you think about yona?
personally, i'm neutral about Yona.
at first, i really hated her (like most) for taking away Sidon, but then i realized she's a pretty cool character. she's smart, outgoing, a talented healer, and overall very cute
however...
she reminds me too much of Mipha... just more outgoing and charismatic. Sidon himself even says their relationship when they were younger was more sibling-like, and that makes me feel a bit iffy on their engagement/marrige.
overall, i like Yona as a character. but as Sidon's fiancée/wife?? not so much.
hot take: TotK isn't my favorite game... it's too overwhelming for me honestly :')
#don't get me wrong#yona is very cool#and very cute#i just don't like the relationship she has with sidon#it seems off to me#asks#anon#yona#<3

Round 1
Propaganda Under Cut
Yona
She’s the fiancé of prince Sidon, (arranged marriage) and since Sidon is almost always shipped with link, people went feral the second they saw her. She’s genuinely very kind and cares about her people and wants Sidon to be happy! She is NOT jealous, she wants him to hang out with his Best Friend. I have seen firsthand in real-time, people being SO misogynistic and cruel, and saying she’s ugly. She’s good in a crisis, very friendly, has a great design, and she doesn’t deserve the hate in the slightest!
I'M DESPERATELY TRYING TO FIND CUTE ART OF HER AND SIDON AND QUITE LITERALLY EVERYTHING REGARDING HER IS JUST STRAIGHT UP BLATANT HATE AND DENOUNCING HER AS SOME LAST MINUTE ADDITION TO THE STORY AS ORCHESTRATED BY JOHN NINTENDO TO STOP SIDLINK FROM BEING CANON LIKE THIS IS THE THE JOHNLOCK CONSPIRACY OR SOME MESS... i just want to see cute art of a green shark woman with a lovely smile :((((
so the breath of the wild fandom is pretty well known for REALLY liking prince sidon aka that one really tall fish guy. and they're also really well known for shipping him with link because every fandom needs a gay ship right. so then the sequel (totk) comes around and it's revealed that sidon has a fiance now and it's not link it's some zora girl from another domain. the game hasn't even been out for a month but i've seen people act so vile towards her like yona get behind me!!!!
Zelda
She spent 100 years in a metaphysical wrestling match with an ancient and primal evil after seeing it destroy almost everyone and everything she held dear in the hopes of saving the few that remained and Link's main goal after HIYAHing his way out of a amnesia-inducing coma was to come in and tag team said evil in order to save her and like 90% of the memories he can regain focus on their relationship with each other and its gradual improvement up to the point where Link fucking dies protecting her and it's the push she needs to awaken the power to push back the blight and PEOPLE ARE STILL OUT THERE IN THEIR POST-CANON FANWORKS TRYING TO TELL ME THAT LINK FUCKS OFF AND LEAVES HER ALONE TO GO SMOOCH THE HOT FISH PRINCE BECAUSE ZELDA WAS BEING TOO OVERBEARING OR WHATEVER AND HE COULDN'T DEAL WITH THE EXPECTATION??? LIKE ZELDA'S WHOLE FUCKING ARC WASNT ALSO ABOUT HER STRUGGLING WITH EXPECTATION AND FAILING TO LIVE UP TO IT AND YOU WANT ME TO BELIEVE THIS WUALITY THEY BOTH OSTENSIBLY HAVE IN COMMON WOULD DRIVE A WEDGE BETWEEN THEM?? WHERE'S ZELDA YOU COWARDS?? I DON'T EVEN CARE IF YOU DON'T WANT HER AND LINK TO BE TOGETHER, JUST STOP DIMINISHING THE GRAVITY OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP AND MAKING ZELDA SUCK FOR NO REASON. SHE'S A BIG NERD! SHE GETS TOO IN HER OWN HEAD! SHE'D DO ANYTHING TO HELP THE PEOPLE SHE CARES ABOUT! SHE UNASHAMEDLY AND EXCITEDLY TRIED TO FEED HER PERSONAL KNIGHT A LIVE FROG IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE! HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE HER
Im specifically saying botw Zelda here because oh my gOSH this poor girl can get made out to be like a horrible bitch when people. want link to get that shark dick. on average she doesnt get thattttt badly treated compared to some others but goddamn.
title character but people hate her because they want link to get w sidon. so she gets fridged or entirely forgotten even though shes literally his canonical soulmate and they have been reincarnated together hundreds of times (w ganon but whether u make em poly or make him the long suffering third wheel is up to you). people will be like oh but zelda was mean to him that one time (??). be serious w me rn. she just got removed from fandom entirely and if that isnt the epitome of victim of yaoi idk what is.

I wanted to figure out if Yona actually likes us.
Quick notice before we begin: It's extremely hard to figure out what Link's thinking, so I won't even try on that front. Sidon's perspective has been debated back and forth for the year or so that totk has been out, and for even longer during botw, so I'm only gonna skim over his. Yona is the one I'm most interested in.
Alright! everything else is below the cut!
Yona.
I care about two things with Yona, and they're the two things that motivate the Player's interactions with her. The first interaction (her style of speech) and the Zora armor.
So far, the basic things we know about Yona is that she's from a Domain outside of Hyrule. She looks like a moray, like Mizu, suggesting that Dorephan's wife might have also been from outside Hyrule, and Mizu just stuck around as an envoy. She wears gold instead of silver, as do her attendants. She speaks English- the only Zora we know of that speaks English.
What I find more interesting than this is the fact that we don't actually know when Link met her, or if he even knew of her existance before he arrived. I'm going to assume he's been to Zora's Domain plenty during the seven year gap between games, but when the Player first meets Yona, she doens't have a nametag. Link doesn't seem to recognize her.
She talks in a more formal way than most of the Zora, who talk to each other like they're extended family. She even talks to her attendants that way, so I'm assuming her Domain is a fair bit more political than ours, and she's used to double meanings and stuff. Which is interesting for worldbuilding, but just something to keep a note of for our interactions with Yona. Because cheerful does not mean interested in our interactions.
But despite Link not recognizing her at all, despite her being foreign to Hyrule, she has our damaged Zora armor. She knows where the rest of it is. She was trying to gift us the full set.
I'm gonna assume everyone knows the significance of Link's Zora armor, especially the chestpiece. Given that it seems Yona arrived just before the Upheaval, and that the Player had no idea who she was, I don't think Link gave it to her to repair. I think he gave it to Sidon, being the Zora Link has the best relationship with, to fix. And apparently, it found its way to Yona, probably because Sidon's been stuck at Mipha Court the entire time. Which means Link's probably immediately on guard, as I was, about the fact this random person has my really important armor.
Nevertheless, Yona treats it really well, and by extension, us. If she were being passive agressive, she could have replaced the damaged scales with another Zora's scales. Or, if she feared consequences from other Zora a bit more, replaced it with a lower-quality fish's scales. But she doesn't. She specifically asks for ancient arowana, which isn't easy to find. She acknowledges the armor as "treasured" and "precious" and says, "I'm honored to reunite you with this armor." Usually her language is pretty neutral, so her actual meaning can swing either way. This time, she's using only positive language, and it's clear that she respects the meaning of the armor, knows where it came from, and what it means to Link.
She had plenty of chances to be an ass when it came to the armor. She also didn't have to tell us where the Zora pants were, or instruct her attendants to get the Zora headpiece. But Yona did, so we can call the armor a decent show of goodwill.
Yona likes us. At the very least, she approves of us, because during the armor quests, she uses mostly positive language. Yippee. We got approval from the harder of the two Zora to read.
and now a quick note about sidon.
I'm not going to touch on the ambiguous will they/won't they relationship that nintendo may or may not be hanging over this. What I care about with Sidon is whether he cares about us as a friend or an idol.
I say idol as a person one might look up to, I should mention.
So in the first game, Link is recognized as Mipha's "friend", and thats enough for Sidon to trust us and hang around. I mean, if your big sister, who you absolutely adore, had a friend, what do you do? Steal said friend. By which I mean make friends with that friend. Link is kind of an object of mystery here, and when Sidon lets us ride on his back, it's more like riding a horse than anything. He's actively making himself a tool at our disposal- not an even partnership by any means, but it does require a significant degree of trust.
Tears of the Kingdom... well, it has the new statue, which shows this part of Botw. If Sidon still thinks of Link this way, by which I mean constantly looking up to Link and idolizing him, not as "miphas fiance" but "cool dude who did cool shit," it's a little more balanced, but still uneven.
However, he treats us more like a friend when we actually go talk to him. He lets us talk to him and break his concentration, which actually says a lot. The other Zora are posted far enough away that it sort of discourages conversation, because this guy is a hundred percent focused and definitely stressed and definitely tired, cause hes been up there since the Upheaval happened. But Sidon chats with us, he opens up the waterways, and he defends us. We're clearly included in people he cares about, but it's hard to say whether that category is friend, idol, or boyfriend.
i dunno, just thought itd be interesting to point some of these out idk.

Excuse me a moment for TKSD, as I must scream.
(Pretend there's an 80 line long string of "AAAAAAHH" I don't want to actually fill up the dash with that much junk text)
I love it. Chef's kiss. Beautiful. Sidon my beloved. Link my beloved. Flying dragon breaking out of her mindless state my beloved. Mwah.
I feel it necessary that you are making my polyam partner very, very gooshy about the polyamourous society of Zora you've made. They've been having a rough time with so many "Yona jealous of link and sidon" and "Yona blocks off link from Sidon" shit, and you and the Secret Confessions To a Sage comic by @kenneduck have literally sent them to tears of the happiness of good, easy polyamoury. They've been very gooshy.
And I can't wait to see how Chapter 5 goes. The ending of chapter 4 was soo good, and I loved the entire story. The line in chapter 1 about how Link was a tool to use for the kingdom, not a person that can have desires Mmmmmmmm good shit angst. And the Whole Breakdown was so good and aaaa Link keeps fleeing. And Yona getting right under there and swooping Link out of there I love her. I love what you have done with her. Just. Aaaaah.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
I’ll scream for you, no worries lol!
But seriously thanks so much!!!!
And towards your partner, I COMPLETELY understand. I remember finishing TOTK and excitedly running to ao3. Only to see some of the first fics with Yona was just hating on her, or turning her character into a really mean lady who you’re supposed to root against. There’s nothing wrong enjoying your gay ships, but maybe don’t vilify female characters only bc they ‘get in the way’? It reminded me WAY TOO MUCH of my time in the Sonic fandom (I’m still a part of that fandom, always, love that silly blue hedgehog <3), and ppl would do the same to Amy in a lot Sonadow fics. WHICH DROVE ME INSANE.
I will always believe the hc of: wingman Yona, supportive wife Yona, or Poly Yona. They’re all wonderful <3 Just have these bitches love each other. It’s way more fun. I know once I complete TKSD I’d rlly rlly like to write a fic about SidYonZeLink, polyamory relationships are very dear to me, and I love exploring how complicated yet wonderfully caring they can be.
BUT OMG, I ALSO LOVE KENNEDUCK!!!! The Secret Confessions comic is just *chef kiss* GLORIOUS! I’m almost POSITIVE all of ya’ll have seen/read it, but if not—YOU BETTER GO RIGHT NOW AND DO SO!!! Their Yona is also so so so wonderful, she is so soft, and she and Sidon are so soft together. I love it.
I’m excited and nervous for chapter 5! I know a lot of y’all really wanna get to Link, but it felt important to write about the Sage’s to set up a couple of future events. I meant for it to be fairly short and then have a larger section dedicated to when they find Link, but thats… not exactly what happened. Atm the doc is at an even 19k word count (dunno how i managed that), and i still have a decent amount of things to write, SO…. Yeah. A lot of this chapter is really just about the Sages and the Sage’s bonding. If that’s not what you want than you can obviously wait til chapter 6, which spoilers, will be Link’s pov and ONLY about his recovery.
Thanks so much for all your kind words!! I rlly appreciate it <3<3<3
I hope everyone has a lovely day and that you enjoy future chapters and future fics!!

Mod's Self Indulgent Polyship Poll
Vote for your favorites!!
Chrissy/Eddie/Steve:
Not Canon. I'd like to first address the fact that yes, I am aware of the age gap, but I feel like the fact Eddie is in his third senior year of high school is pretty relevant, and it's clear that still being in a high school environment, with no social life outside that age group, has kept him about as mature as his classmates. With that out of the way, I imagine they would probably have become good friends had they survived, and that could later blossom into something romantic. I guess there's not really a way to make sense of the trio outside of AUs, but Steddie was one of my main ships, so it felt natural to expand from there? This would be a V polycule, with Eddie in the middle.
Zelda/Link/Sidon/Yona:
Not Canon. Zelink is a given, I can see how people might interpret their relationship as platonic, and I think it was before the events of BOTW, but since regaining his memories and reuniting with Zelda I think it would be very easy for them to fall in love. Sidlink would be a thing before this, seeing as you meet Sidon before their reunion, and I genuinely think this guy is head over heels for Link and he loves to hype his short king of a boyfriend. He had a statue of them made. Self explanatory. Yona is canonically Sidon's partner, and I remember some Sidlink shippers being upset but I think she's very sweet, very suppirtive of Sidon's feelings and really appreciates Link as a metamour. I'd like to imagine her and Zelda would get along well. Just realized I don't know what this dynamic is called but it's basically a line? Zelda/Link + Link/Sidon + Sidon/Yona.

now that this thing has a few chapters and feels like it's going to be sticking around, here's a post for the tags!
To Be Well is a Legend of Zelda story, set after Breath of the Wild and in the run-up to Tears of the Kingdom, and focuses on Link and his struggle to adjust to a peaceful kingdom. It explores themes of loneliness, communication difficulties, resentment, and learning when you need to let something change. (For those looking for specific ships, it portrays a strong queerplatonic relationship between Link and Zelda, and a low-key romantic one between Link and Sidon.) Currently there are three chapters and I try to update weekly or so; my guess is that this story will clock in somewhere around 45k words.
I don't like making descriptions go longer than they need to, so I'll just leave you with an excerpt from chapter one.
“I know we’ve talked about this a dozen times,” says Zelda, breaking what had felt like a disapproving silence, “and I will not command my knight against his will. But I really think learning it would be helpful to you.” Down goes the boot again. “Already know it," Link signs. "Don’t need it.” “You know Prebellum Sign,” Zelda cuts in before he’s even finished the second sentence. “New Hylian Sign is wholly different, Link. I’m sure you’d pick it up quickly, too! You’ve always been a quick study.” She catches herself now, grimacing, and pushes back some of the mess her coiffed hair has become in the heat. “I apologize for the outburst,” she says. "I’m sorry. But it would be good for you to be able to communicate with more people. Practically no one even knows Prebellum Sign existed.” Link can’t help it: he rolls his eyes. This makes her drop her gaze again. Her quill scratches at the parchment for a long time. Her eyes are trained on the slate’s blue glow (not him) when she says, “I’m growing worried about you.”
if that catches your eye, you can read it here! or, if you've already read it and liked it, give this a reblog!

A Service to the King Ch. 21 (A SidLink Omegaverse Story)
Chapter 21: Protective
Link woke with a soft yawn, sitting up slowly with a grunt. Hay was not the best place to fall asleep but at least now he was much more rested. He could see the sun setting nearby and he let out a sigh. He hated that he was changing his sleep schedule but he just couldn't help it.
And honestly he was sure he could sleep again. But this time in a bed or something.
Epona was right near him eating her hay once more. She lifted her head to look at him and let out a soft knicker at him.
“Hey girl,” he said to her, rising up and stretched letting out a grunt at the feel of his sore back and body. He yawned a bit and let out a sigh.
“You've got the right idea. I need some food,” he said, scratching his stomach, heading for the gate to let himself out. Maybe someone was cooking at the fire pit outside.
He heard movement behind him and he turned to see her trying to come with him.
“No, you need to stay here,” Link said. She let out a snort, nudging him and tried again.
Link sighed.
“Alright, fine,” he said with a roll of his eyes.
He attatched a lead to her halter and he then gently guided her out of the stall towards the outside of the stables.
He knew that she was being very protective and wanted to keep an eye on him. Sort of like a mother keeping an eye on her child.
It was cute and it made Link feel a little more comforted after everything going on.
Thankfully there was an older man cooking something in the pot. Seeing Link he smiled, gesturing for him to take a seat. Link moved to sit on the small stool, letting go of Epona's lead.
“Don't wander too far,” Link said to her as he unclipped it. She let out a knicker and nudged him with her nose before going to find some grass to munch.
He payfully rolled his eyes and he turned to the pot of food. He leaned in, inhaling lowly at the smell of it.
“Wow, that smells amazing,” Link said to him. “What are we having?”
“Some beef stew,” the man said. “Simple but filling. I have to say that the champion of hyrule wants to eat my food is such a blessing. And the future prince of the zora domain as well.”
The smile that was on Link's face fell and he paled a bit.
“Whatever do you mean?” he asked, swallowing a bit as he reached for the necklace around his neck. He flicked it open, taking in a small bit of Sidon's scent before closing it again.
He let out a sigh. He had to remain clam.
“It's going all around Hyrule right now that you and the king of the zoras were seen being a little close,” an old woman said as she approached the two of them, taking the other vacant stool. “I for one think it's cute.”
“It's none of our business of who you are with young man,” the man said and looked around. “Though I'm surprised that you are not with him right now.”
“It's...complicated,” Link said with a sigh. He suddenly didn't feel so hungry. He just wanted to curl up in Epona's stall again and just forget about this whole conversation.
The couple stared at one another and then the woman reached over with some warm bread she had in a basket. Link took a piece, thanking her softly.
Despite that he didn't feel like eating just something in him told him that he needed to eat. That he needed to take care of himself.
He wondered what that was about.
“Whatever is going on I'm sure you will figure it out,” the woman urged. “You defeated evil twice for all of us.”
“Relationships are different,” Link said softly.
“Oh young one it's hard I know expericning all these emotions with a little one growing within you. I'm sure whatever it is was a misunderstanding,” said the woman.
“Yeah I suppose...wait....what did you say?” Link said with his eyes widening.
“That it might just be all a misunderstanding,” the woman tried again but Link was shaking his head. There was no way. How was that possible? He hadn't been in heat or anything like that.
Then again when was the last time he had one...
Was Sidon that...potent? He had been the only one he had been with in years.
“No that other thing. That I'm growing....”
“A little one. A small pup. I wonder, do you think that the child will be a zora or a hylian?” the woman asked her husband.
“Probably Zora, tha alpha genes are usually more dominant,” the old man said.
But Link wasn't listening. He was still in shock. His hand shakily rest on his stomach. Pregnant. A baby.
And he hadn't been taking care of himself as always, ready to run, ready to jump into battle if necessary.
And he had done it all the while prgnant and putting his pup in danger.
No. Not just his pup. Sidon's pup. The heir to the zoran throne. By technical terms he was committing treason to the domain.
He had to return.
“Goodness, you had no idea did you,” she said to him. “That scent of yours has a slight scent of milk and honey to it. That's usually a sign.”
“I don't normally pay attentiong to it,” Link said with a small sigh and watched as the old man spooned a bunch of stew into a bowl and passed it to him.
He thanked the old man and tucked into the bowl of soup. Despite that he wasn't feeling hungry with this information he felt the urge to need to protect his child.
He had to do better. He had to take care of them. And he had to go back to the domain. He could figure out his life after the child was born. But so many thoughts went through his head. Had there ever been a hylian and zora offsping before? Zelda would know but she...
No. He had to put his difference aside to protect himself and think for the future of his child. For now he had to return to the domain and talk to the father of his child.
And maybe then once they figured out how to properly take care of himself and the baby would he talk about what he had seen in the hallway.
“Oh my poor boy you have been through so much,” the old woman said, handing him a hankerchief. He thanked her, taking it and was confused at first until he felt the wetness on his cheeks. He had been crying again.
“If you want my advice, being around your alpha does help with the emotion,” she urged. “I think you should find him.”
“I will,” Link said, wiping his eyes and looked over as Epona came to his side again, nudging his head with her own. He pat her snout with one hand and leaned into her.
“Ready for another trip? This time I'll take you with me,” he said. She nudged him again and he smiled softly. He turned back to his food, dipping some bread into the soup. He needed his strength and make sure he made the trip back safely.
He would need to prepared Epona as well as buy some weapons or something to use just in case he ran into any rouge monster or bandits on the road.
“And then we'll talk to the king,” Link said.
Epona's ears lay flat and Link snorted.
*
Link stopped at the bridge of the Domain. He had traveled first thing in the morning to get back to the Domain. And it was in chaos.
He looked around confused, sliding off the back of his horse and taking her reigns. She was a little apprehensive about stepping on the marble floor but she followed Link regardless.
This was his home after all.
“What in Hylia's name is going on here,” he mumbled to himself, watching as another group of Zora carried baskets of food. He reached out to one, concern on his face.
She let out a gasp, her eyes wide and a smile broke out across her face, but the panic was still in her eyes.
“Link, you've returned!” she said with relief, but one quick glance around him had her not so relaxed any longer. “You are by yourself?”
“Yes....I came back on my own,” Link said. “Where is Si-King Sidon?”
The Zora swallowed. “Out looking for you with the princess of Hyrule. He left shortly after we saw you leave.”
Link paled a bit. Sidon was out looking for him.
“I see...I'll need to do something about that,” Link said and looked around at the panic look. “What's going on? Why is everyone so upset?”
“Haven't you heard? Death Mountain is at a risk of going off and all areas around it are at risk. Even us which means it's going to be bad. We're all getting ready to relocate to a safer location,” she explained. “I suggest you do the same.”
Link paled at that and swallowed. He had to get them out of there. Even Lanayru was in danger if the mountain went off.
And what if Sidon and Zelda came back before it was safe to do so?
“Thank you. Please go and get ready, I will do the same and try to find Sidon,” he said. He had to go get his things and leave. He tied Epona to one of the railings, petting her head.
“You stay here,” he said. “I'll be back. And we're going to have to fast travel. I know you'd hate it but we have to.”
She let out a noise of disapporiving but stayed put as he went to go get his essentials.
*
Link went to his home he had built once more, panting softly as he set the bags down. He had brought everything of importance to him and even Sidon and Zelda's things as well.
As he had thought Epona had nearly thrown him off of her back when he had fast traveled but a few corrections and gentle pats she had calmed down.
They were much farther now. Who knew if they had to move again but right now they were far away. Most of the Zoras had gone into the caves below the lake. Link hoped they would all be alright. He had heard stories of those getting trapped in places.
There was only one thing left to do now. He had to contact Sidon and Zelda somehow to make sure that they knew he...and the pup were safe.
He guided Epona into her stall, pulling off her saddle and then pulled out the Purah pad. Epona nudged his shoulder and he pet her nose gently.
It was as if asking if this was a good idea. Honestly he had no other ideas.
With a sigh he pushed the button for a homing beacon to be put on where he was. It was a newer set up Purah had put into it that way the two could find one another if seperated.
Hopefully she would find it.
Before it was too late.
*
In the depths of Faron Zelda jumped when the pad on her hip went off. Sidon glanced at her as she wiped sweat from her forehead and pulled it up, her eyes widening.
“He set off a beacon,” she said. “I know where he is.”

Tell me some facts about your revival au please? 👉👈
Okay! Yay!
It takes place during the timeskip between BotW and TotK, which is how Yona and older Tulin/Purah are there. TotK lore mostly doesn't apply otherwise becuase I wanted the Divine Beasts and Champions and TotK... doesn't have those 🤷♀️
Zelda works as a travelling researcher and generally just likes doing odd jobs and such! So a lot of sidequesting because she deserves it. She and Link regroup often because they're hesitant friends after fighting Ganon together. Sometimes they spend more extended periods of time together if neither of them are busy.
Zelda has pretty much made peace with the Calamity and her relationship with her parents, but she still struggles pretty severely in her relationship with Hylia, and tends to question her self-worth as a result. She still blames herself for not living up to the Goddess's vision for her 🥲
Link spends most of his time in Hateno just living a quiet life. If he's not there, he's with Tulin or Sidon. He pretty much set Zelda up to work with Purah on research and sometimes passes messages between them.
Purah is committed to researching and working with old Sheikah tech, but she also remembers the Champions very clearly and misses them.
Link developed feelings for Mipha after having the flashback in Zora's domain. It's what prompted him to find the other memories of the Champions, and to try and learn as much as he could about her from her friends and family. So like a fairly innocent celebrity crush with a(n un)healthy side of intense guilt and grief. He'll get to understand her better, though!
Unfortunately I don't have too many facts for you about Mipha and the other Champions on account of spoilers 😭 and they haven't exactly been... doing a lot... since BotW ended :|
I will say that Mipha is tagging along because she really wants to see the Champions again! Obviously she still enjoys Link and Zelda's company as well but I think she wants to see the thing through because of a sense of obligation.
Mipha and Tulin's relationship has been my favourite non-canon one to write! I really like reading when people write Mipha as a big sister and I liked the idea that Mipha would be like Tulin's cool older cousin.
I don't have all of the story planned out but I do have all the plot beats for a later segment and something like an end ready! I'm very excited to get to that part. It's been rattling around in my head for pretty much the whole time I've been writing.
I might make a playlist?? Or something? Because I'm obsessed???
Once I'm further into the story I should have more facts for you! It's still a bit loose for now.
Woe! Low-quality character sketches be upon ye :]]]]
#asks answered#snail-studios 💙#honestly thank you so much for this ask! i was super busy with school and just life in general but this ask was the light at the end of the#tunnel that helped me get an assignment in lol#revival au#my art :)#barely but eh

two how does hylia feel about the champions and their descendants? i can send a separate ask if needed 👍
hoo
so generally speaking hylia ignores everyone who isn't actively worshiping her, people she's projecting her love life onto, or considers a threat of some kind. she doesn't have much of an opinion on people who don't fit into those categories besides them being Unimportant, and tries to get gaffen to ignore them too. it's part coping mechanism, part she has a complicated relationship with mortals and mortality, part She Is Kind of a Asshole
the only strong opinion she'd have on the champions or descendants is mipha, and that is because hylia sees her as a Threat. she thinks mipha is a gross evil nasty old ugly fish woman. UGH!!!
she is somewhat amused by revali and thinks he's dumb, and generally approves of urbosa when urbosa isn't giving widget "bad advice." she just ignores daruk. she does not remember any of the champions' names and cannot be bothered. honestly she barely remembers that rito exist.
the descendants? ignores them even more. she wasn't actively meddling in gaffen's life when he hung around them and none of them are Threats to her so. yeah. if she did know them better she'd probably like teba the most. he's got responsible mentor figure vibes. i think her opinion on sidon would be mixed. on one hand, he is a very polite fellow. gaffen could learn some manners from him. on the other hand, she thinks he is not very smart. yunobo she would be put off by and start comparing him to other gorons despite not really knowing much about gorons or even caring. and riju...she'd just be annoyed with her. she would also not remember their names ever 👍 she is too old

For the ship haters— Sidon/Link or TP Zelink?
I'm feeling like an extra big hater today- so I'm doing both! ^-^
TP zelink fucking haunts me because out of all of the loz games where incarnations of Link and Zelda interact with each other- these two probably have the *least* going on and interact so damn little. There's quite Iiterally zero chemistry there!! There are naught but ashes!! The only conversation they have with each other without Midna in the room is just Zelda asking for his help and that's... it really. They don't know each other whatsoever, it's incredibly boring if you're basing it solely off the game, and I've seen way too many kinda weird character interpretations here that remind me of the bad parts of botw/totk zelink lmao
What's funny is that midlink and midna/zelda make so much more sense here that the zelink agenda just does not work in this game sjsjsjs
Alright... I'm gonna be honest here and say that I've never been a huge fan of sidlink, it's just not the ship for me. Personally, I've just never found the dynamic between them to be all that engaging? At least in game, but there's undeniably potential there that the game doesn't get into. At a certain point, it really did feel like the ship was created for a guy to throw link at and that was it really, which made it even more boring to me. Once totk came around though,, god I felt so bad for Yona because the sheer amount of shit I saw of people acting like she was getting in the way of gay love or something. There's a *type* of sidlink enthusiast who's extremely hostile towards Yona and will do everything in their power to either kill her or blantently fuck with her character SJSJSJS which just sullies the taste for this ship for me even more...
Tbh, my personal taste is that they work better as friends who have the potential for some really interesting dynamics! Like, I would've loved to see how Sidon's grief towards Mipha would've affected his relationship with Link! Would he bury any potential resentment? Blame? Would he ask Link what he truly felt for her? Idk, I think their relationship has *potential* but I just cannot see it in a romantic lense. And also the fandom approach to it is just sort of bad alot of the time sorry about that SJSJSJ
#thebleedingeffect talks#there is one singular sidlink fic that I rly enjoy... but maybe I should try finding some messy sidlink fics#tp zelink up there for the most NOTHING of het ships there is NOTHING THERE !!!!!!!#whats funny is that I don't even rly care about midlink or midna/zelda as well SJSJSJ#tp just has 0 romance in it for me... <- I vastly prefer this

Have to admit, seeing more people confirm my suspicion that the female characters in totk felt... let's say lacking, both new and old, is kinda a relief. I thought I was just hyper-critical, but I guess not as much as I had feared. I also have seen someone criticise Yona for feeling like a glorified sign-post, and only there to be Sidon's emotional crutch, with no real quest-arc of her own to build her character beyond "Fiancee" being rushed in. Sonia could have had potential, but just became Zelda's mom stand-in. Kind motherly sweet. Mineru: Probably the only newly introduced female who could be a bit different, and she literally only has like 2 cutscenes, and even she feels more like a "kind and gentle" character. It also feels like in Totk, most of the female characters, exception Riju and almost Mineru, with some bigger role are follow a specific kind of personality. Like the cute, sweet, affectionate kind girl trope. In Botw we at least had Urbosa. Compared to the male characters, who feel a lot more diverse in personality and general presentation, the pool of girls just feels like a shallow puddle.
Yeah, I completly agree. There's a sweetness that prevails every main female character, to the point where it almost makes them nonsensical at times? I have already talked about my confusion regarding Mineru's feeling of responsibility regarding the Imprisoning War, that feels more like there to soften her as a character rather than about making her relationship to Rauru, Sonia, Hyrule or Zelda any clearer --since... what did she do/didn't she do that could make her feel like she should take responsibility?
Even Riju kind of follows the trope of "not feeling enough" in a way that almost doesn't land with her actual role within the gameplay, and that is kind of a redux version of her BotW arc where it did make more sense since she was a child --and she went through turmoil before once. Buliara does a lot of the heavy lifting here (literally I suppose).
Shoutout to some side characters tho. Lots of gerudo characters that I really loved (I don't know why I love the two racers so much but I do, the girl who works at the Bazaar inn and literally could not care less whether you live or die, I even felt Emotions about Mattison and her father even thouuuugh I have many issues with the message being "you will eventually come back here and marry and have a child of your own" like, she's 6 years old??? let her decide for herself???? and also the fact that the game doesn't want to give weight to that old tradition of keeping voes out makes it feel arbitrary when it could be a genuinely interesting moment of the difficulty of having to shoulder a complicated cultural heritage VS your personal comfort, which is, like, biculturality 101 and VERY relatable, anyway), I think Paya is better handled in this one, Impa's little roadtrip is fun...

Random thoughts regarding different fandoms:
(I've seen/read these, I just don't engage with the fandoms that much. These are just thoughts based on what I have seen of the fandoms.).
Death Note: Endless memes. Constant poking fun at all the overthinking going on. Putting these dramatic characters in goofy scenes about cake and friendship. The jokes never get old for me. I don't see much discourse, maybe an occasional conversation about whether or not Kira was right. 😆
ATLA: Zuko getting teased. Kataang and Zutara battling it out while Zukka laughs and slowly rises higher, taking more and more people as it goes. I'm not that interested in the ships, but Sokka ships are the best. NATLA wins the "not as bad as you could've been award" and "the effects were decent". Lots of fun analysation.
Percy Jackson: I feel Nico is a fan favourite. The main discourse I've seen for the fandom as a whole is whether or not Annabeth treats Percy well and whether or not Piper is annoying. A lot of people compare Percy Jackson and Harry Potter (the characters), and those who have read both seem to agree Percy is better. Like ATLA, there's a new live-action series that is a mixed bag, but much better than the old, horrible live-action movie (and sequel) in the past.
Zelda: DOWN WITH KOROKS vs STOP KOROK ABUSE. Everyone loves Sidon senpai. Glory to Master KOHGA. Most of the stuff I see right now is BotW/TotK related, but there's still some good stuff for other games, as well as the AUs people do with different Links meeting. Midna is the best sidekick.
Hazbin Hotel: I'm wary since there's LOOOOTS of discourse in this one. The fans can be pretty funny, though. I love the song edits and that there's a whole ship tag for Vox's unrequited obsession with Alastor. I also like watching people analyse the characters and writing.
Helluva Boss: Well...I once again like watching people discuss the writing. But I am hesitant to engage with any fans because I have a weird relationship with this show and don't think I really qualify as a fan. 😅 I watch it because it's so bizarre to me I can't look away. One time I gave characters different colour schemes for fun, and I got a bunch of annoyed asks from someone taking it too seriously. 😆
She-Ra: Catra Applesauce Meowmeow is a poor little meowmeow. Cat. I like the cat memes. I also love the comparisons between Scorpia and Kronk. Entrapdak is probably one of the better ships, yet has haters for some reason. The accusations have the same vibes as Beauty and the Beast accusations.
Owl House: Tons of Lumity. Personally, I'm more invested in Eda and her relationships with the other characters. Belos and Hunter get compared to Ozai and Zuko. Hunter is very popular. Everyone side eyes Disney for what they did. HOOTY SUPREMACY HOOT HOOT.
Miraculous: The Adrien vs Marinette discourse makes my brain hurt, but I'm glad we all pretty much agree Astruc does everyone dirty. Canon? What's canon? Usually I like and try to follow canon. Not here. Who tries to follow canon in Miraculous? The fans write the show better than he does. Love all the fan comics I see for this show. Chloe could've been more interesting. We all make fun of Smooth-Brain Gabe. We came for the Love Square and then started to hate it. Then Emonette and Emodrien came and reignited our interest.

Round 1
Propaganda under the cut
Mipha
Honestly she's not just a victim of yaoi, tbh. Basically: she canonically had a massive crush on the protagonist, Link, which consistently gets swept under the rug or ignored entirely in favor of shipping Link with her brother Sidon, their fellow champion Revali, or Zelda herself. She deserves nice things and so many people just... completely overlook her??
She has a crush on Link, but so does her younger brother Sidon, who is much more affable and outgoing. Link/Sidon is the more popular ship. Mipha gets a lot of flak for being a weak female character who's only defined by her romantic relationship to the protagonist. That's not really fair; she has her own storyline about being the golden girl from her town who everyone looks up to, and the hole that's left in the town after her death. It is unfortunate that she is better remembered as the less compelling corner of a love triangle.
The princess of the Zora, sweetheart of the Zora's Domain. Champion pilot of the Divine Beast Vah Ruta. Master healer, cut down in her prime by an ancient evil. But you wouldn't know it, because she's reduced to someone who was in love with Link (the game's protagonist), and therefore has to be sidelined and villainized to ship Link with her younger brother Sidon or her fellow Champion Revali.

For the character ask meme, I feeeeeel like Mipha would be an obvious one, so if you've already gotten her, then uhhhhh Revali or BotW Impa? :> (also, hi. I hope you're having a good day 💘💓💞)
nobody has asked me for her, actually! so I'll do both her and Impa!
Mipha:
First impression: the first time I saw her was in the memory where Calamity Ganon rises up, so I was basically just "ooh, a Zora, she's pretty!"
Impression now: AKJEBFKSFNKJDSFNHLKHKJHDHF I LOVE HER SO MUCH I CANNOT EVER BE NORMAL ABOUT HER, BEST CHAMPION, LOML <333333333333333333333333333333333
Favorite moment: every time I get to fight as her in AOC :3 and also when I get to save her from Waterblight ;~; and when she and Sidon have that cute moment on Vah Ruta ;o; I honestly treasure any time she's onscreen, but those are my favorites
Idea for a story: UMMMM I HAVE A MILLION
Unpopular opinion: she is NOT boring and her character is NOT only about her love for Link and she is NOT written worse than the other champions, people just wanna be mean about her because of stupid ship nonsense/prioritizing male characters (especially the rude ones because they assume those characters are inherently deeper) and in fact I think she's the best written Champion, because she has a family and friends that remember her in BOTW and that you also see in AOC and she thinks about more than just Link, thank you very much. underrated as hell and it makes me so mad. >:E
Favorite relationship: oh, too many choices! I obviously love her and Link in a very shippy way, but I also love her relationships with her family, and the little friendship she strikes up with Daruk, and what little we see of her interacting with others in side missions (there's a cute one where Riju helps her in the Domain, for example), and non-canon obviously, but I love writing her interacting with anyone I can put in there. :3
Favorite headcanon: I have a million bajllion after all the time I've spent writing her and fleshing her out, too many to list here :3;;;
BOTW Impa:
First impression: mainly that she was an exposition lady? she was nice, but sadly didn't really do anything aside from that. :/
Impression now: HOWEVER. I absolutely ADORE her in AOC!!! They really gave her personality, and I love her interactions with Purah and Zelda and Terrako, she is so so so much fun!!! it was really sad going back to little old lady Impa in TotK. :/
Favorite moment: Any time she is encouraging Zelda is so sweet! ;~; and any time she and Terrako clash, it's so funny xD I also love that side mission where she has to clean up Purah's mess with some Guardians, and she's just "-_-" the entire time xD
Idea for a story: I want to write more of my version of her from my favorite fic of mine! and just more with her in general. Like I still have some unused zine pitches that would be fun...
Unpopular opinion: some people don't like her youthful version cause it's so different from past younger Impas, but I love her! I like OOT Impa too, don't get me wrong, but I found AOC Impa super fun.
Favorite relationship: Her and Zelda!
Favorite headcanon: I like to think her not being present in certain memories in BOTW was an oversight, NINTENDO >:/ because she specifically states that she was friends with them back then, and we see in AOC that she really was, so where was she??? hence why in my Mipha protagonist BOTW retelling I have her be present in some of the memories with the group because that's something else that needs fixing.
(I am having a lovely day, thank you! :3 hope you are too!)

Not really enjoying the Sidon/Yona plot so far. It feels very sudden and forced, like... We don't even know this woman. Where did she COME from? Have we seen a single other character from outside the borders of Hyrule before? Lore consistency? If outside Zora are sending aid, why'd they only send their princess and two others? We also have no emotional connection to Yona. I would've been way happier with a Zora from BOTW marrying Sidon, if they had to give him a fiance.
But I think my big issue is the story reducing Sidon's character arc to a romantic relationship. It seems really lackluster compared to Tulin's and Yunobo's. If he's still grieving Mipha, have him overcome that with the player, not as a side scene! And making Yona the woman in the "behind every powerful man is a powerful woman" sucks. Like, if they were gonna give us a Zora princess, don't just make her a watered down version of Mipha. Give us someone goofy who matches Sidon's ridiculousness!
Couples and romance can be good! So far, this has been really disappointing.
#if Sidon's plot ends with him getting married imma be upset#no hate to yona I'm just like wow why do the writers hate her?? give her a personality#totk spoilers#tears of the kingdom spoilers#Maria talks#totk#:(#sidon#yona

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH
And since it's pride month now so i feel like I should share my lgbt headcannons
My list of Lgbt headcannons
This will be about botw and totk specifically
If you don't agree that's fine once again these are just my headcannons
⚠️⚠️WARNING⚠️⚠️ TOTK SPOLIER ON THE LAST CHARACTER, DON'T LOOK AFTER 5TH IF NOT WANTING SPOILERS
Enjoy
You can not tell me this man is completely straight, he has got to be some form of queer.
Link
Possibly Pan, maybe even poly romantic. I could see him being ok with being in a relationship with just about anyone, of course if they are an ass hole than he wouldn't but you get it.
Revali
With the way that Link rocks every outfit out there, masculine, feminine, and in between I like to think he is either a trans guy (ftm) or is like non binary. Not really caring, finding comfort being seen as a vai or voe or neither at all.
Ok first off he is too sassy for his own good. I have a love hate relationship with this bird. Which brings me to my first point.
Zelda
He's gay, mlm a sassy little gay man. I will take no criticism on this actually.
She is bi, she understands beauty on a scientific level. She could explain the science behind a brains attraction to just about anyone.
Urbosa
She'd also probably be ok with being a u'haul gay. Having a cute library built into the walls with a loft bed sitting area where she could sit and read, or write in her journal, or cuddle with a partner as she tells them about her most recent research
That is a strong lesbian if ever I saw one. She is as proud as she is strong. Anyone ever try to discriminate against her or someone else around her she'd happily put them in their place.
Bolson
With a catchphrase such as "SHA-DING" there is no one this is a fully straight man.
Not to mention his odd construction sayings.
He's gay, maybe bi but mostly mlm
(I just had to mention him because I found his photo lol)
Last but certainly not least
SIDON
Now for starts this is my favorite character (he may or may not have been the reason I got into botw lol)
I have always seen him as pan, part of his color pallet looked like the flag pretty clearly.
I felt like he might’ve been leaning towards masculine folks more, but was open to other relationships.
In tears of the kingdom he has a wife, but that doesn't stop my brain from imagining him (and his wife) either being in a poly relationship or Sidon having a mlm relation while his wife has a wlw one. (My dream relation may or may not be Sidon and Link, and Yona and Zelda. It'd just be so cute, and could lead for some intresting areanged marrige fanfics)
That's all for now, I might come back later in the month with more. Be proud of who you are, its pride month after all. Happy pride🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
