Thoughts on Sanji enjoying feminine things?

short thoughts: i love it and think he should do it more often esp because i feel like he definitely does in canon and just won't actually let himself do so. i don't draw him in drag all the time for no reason

i could write an entire essay on sanji's character in terms of femininity, queerness, and misogny BUT we don't have time for all that so let's just focus on the fact i feel like there's actual evidence he enjoys traditionally non-masculine things and oda actually puts him in situations to highlight this pretty frequently

-i am guilty of calling sanji a metrosexual . it's a stupid word but it fits him. he's the only guy on the ship that showers every day and the only other ppl on the ship who do this are the two girls. man also wears suits like mad and has a fairly...daring fashion sense outside of that (granted, most ppl in one piece do.) but he just cares about these things more than most guys! and that doesn't even seem like something that came from his upbringing at baratie bc...no one else dressed like that. he just does that himself. i also can't stop thinking about the sbs where someone suggested sanji would be a stylist in real life and oda went "yes agreed"

-the kamabakka moment...okay terribly offensive and transmisogynistic (won't get into it bc i have several times before) BUT if we can take one thing from that it's that sanji *did* dress up in makeup and a dress and like. frolic with the okama. it's framed as "against his will" but he definitely could have torn that shit off quickly and easily enough, yet oda decided to imply sanji enjoyed it for at least a time before he chickened back out and called the place hell for 2 years. yea, it was probably for oda's idea of 'comedic effect' but this is, once again, one piece. sometimes the humor is part of the plot. sometimes very real information is given through the guise of humor. going off of this u could mention that (also offensive but meant to be funny) joke with the blood donation scene from fishman island

-idk just something about the way oda writes him fighting lots of queer or non-conventionally masculine characters. i feel like it says something about sanji having his own internal struggle about his masculinity- which we know must be true bc of his whole list of virtues he never breaks a la women because of his upbringing with good ol' fashioned zeff and uh. "men should be war machines" germa over here. he fights bon clay and queen for christ sake.

-the scene where he's like happy as a clam to be in nami's body in punk hazard is another comedy gag that's also a little . interesting. I could say oda just keeps accidentally coding him but I feel like oda's very intentionally with his characterization and the subtlety of it

-overall he's just clearly so interested in masculinity since zeff raised him to be that way and he holds zeff in such high regards in combination with his background with germa, his mother and his sister, leading to a I Have To Be A Perfect Gentlemen And Also Respect Women by Putting Them On the Highest of Pedestals. and this in turn has made him reluctant to engage with femininity in any way that could be perceived as Not fitting this manly persona he's made for himself, yet he keeps getting put up against it in various small moments in the series whether comedic or not. I don't think oda frames sanji's relationship with masculinity entirely as a character flaw or weakness to be fixed, bc oda seems to respect sanji's views/they align with oda's own views. BUT I do think he knows it's partially susceptible to change and....he makes Sanji encounter these things so often for a reason. does that make sense?

in my ideal world sanji 20 years in the future is a bit more feminine even if he's still a casanova ladies man. like he accepted the okama influence in his life, he's just more quiet about it, lmao. I mean did u see his hair for oda's 40 yr old design

so yeah. he does, I think. quietly and deep down.

Practicing figure drawing so I can fulfill my dream of becoming an illustrator: Boring, predictable, little bit cheesy

Practicing figure drawing so I can make the bsd stormbringer animation I've had vividly playing rent-free in my head since I was like halfway through the book and heard a song for the first time in years that fit it perfectly: New, fresh, supporting my current source of brainrot

(little ramble about the animation idea below the cut because it's been rotating in my head for MONTHS and I just need someone else to hear it. vague spoilers for bsd stormbringer, but like vague enough it's barely spoilers imo)

The song is Invincible by Ok Go, for any fellow sb fans who want to see my vision lol. It was specifically the pre-chorus (starting with "i'm gonna bet they won't be prepared for-") that made it click in my brain, but then later the second verse also really clicked with it too (see below) and the concept has been rent free ever since. Might end up being more of an animatic but we'll see what my skill level ends up managing lol

ok so imagine the first verse is a combo of just general narration and/or the flags talking to/about Chuuya. "When the finally come to destroy the earth, they'll have to go through you first. Bet they won't be expecting that" just kind of feels like something the flags would say to him tbh. Like not verbatim but the sentiment of it

First pre-chorus is flashing through snippets of everything between Adam showing up at the bar until the first fight in the street. It might start with the confetti thing. I can't decide where to fit that, just that I want to include it lol. Probably ends with the reveal of that car (i know, i know, oof)

The chorus is the fight itself (...idk how to animate a fight but I'll cross that bridge later), ending with a longer shot of redacted holding Chuuya by the neck while everything breaks around them, then on-beat with the chorus ending it's a hard cut between seeing the hand on his neck to the same shot but with Dazai's hand against his back instead and everything immediately stopping, then Chuuya just kind of falling into a void and finally landing on the ground and getting back up just before the second verse starts.

(i really like that part in my head, if you can't tell by how clear of an idea I have for it lol)

First half of the second verse is Shirase talking to Chuuya. "Gonna decimate them like you did to me?" just fits his vibe too well. Then the second half of the verse is Dazai talking to Chuuya because the "will you devastate them deliberately?" line feels like it could be such a snarky Dazai way to make a jab about arahabaki like "So will you devastate them on purpose this time then?" if that makes sense

The last part of the song is still a little fuzzy in my head for how it'll go exactly, but like pre-chorus after the second verse will probably be like flashing through stuff in that lab and leading to the big fight with redacted. Then that chorus being the first part of the fight, the bridge ("so please use your powers for good") being like when they realize they haven't quite won and then Chuuya and Dazai are on the water tower. I think the build-up in that section musically fits the tone of how the scene is also building up, if that makes sense. The last "you're invincible!" after the bridge is like the where Chuuya launches himself off the water tower and/or the moment of Dazai turning around to see Chuuya is no longer behind him on the tower (can't decide which pov would look cooler to see from a narrative standpoint. Maybe I'll say fuck it and spilt-screen for both lmao) and then ya know visuals just kind of pop off until the end of the song/plot

Might have to tweak the timeline a bit because i want it to roughly cover the entire plot of the book. Once I at least get good enough at doing rough figure sketches and have the motivation to do it I'll be able storyboard it and figure that all out. Chase- He's 19 years old. Chase tries to look big and scary but he's a real softie and wouldn't hurt a fly. Also, he is bisexual chaos lmao. He is an absolute disaster half the time and I love him for it.

Derek- He's 19 years old as well. Eventually him and Chase start dating. He's seen some shit but you can't really tell unless he tells you. And by tells you I mean he drops it in a normal conversation so casually it gives you whiplash, also the reason he always wears a bandanna around his neck. He is a very kind man."

Hello! I can't remember where but someone was saying that KM's relationship has changed, which I don't believe. We are not getting enough content for us to decide anything really so I don't know how people draw these conclusions. Anyways, they further stated that MMA 2018 was the only "big" interaction that happened between KM. I was slightly confused by this because I do remember other moments between KM on award shows (It also made me realize this person may not be a KM shipper, but a troll. Do they only focus on big moments between KM or just ships, in general? I don't know. But the way they put their opinion up with utmost certainty made me doubt them from the beginning. Oh well).

Moving on, can you please put a list up of pretty "big" moments between KM during award shows? Your favorite moments?

Jikook being literally as close as possible during the 2020 Golden Disc Awards. Seriously, what was the reason? Just kiss already...

(Corona stole so many good award show moment opportunities from us... most of their award show acceptances and more took place with video send ins and we got no sitting in the crowd interactions either... sad but these 2 were my favorite from 2020)

2019

JK throwing an I love you sign to Jimin at the Fact Music Awards, we've talked about this before and how much of a moment it was. You know what else took place at the Fact Music Awards in 2019?

Yup there almost on stage kiss and no reaction to it as well as JK just putting his check on Jimins check instead of actually Whispering anything like we all thought he was doing

Golden Disc Awards. "Jimin, can I say this to you? Its okay if you aren't the first, you'll always be number 1 to me" (paraphrased) you know, along with dropping honorifics on National TV

MMA and MAMA that year. JK getting emotional and hugging/hiding in Jimins shoulder and unable to let him go. And then filming with a selfie stick and JK spending almost the entire film chasing Jimin around to keep him in the camera.

SBS Gayo performances. Can we all die over Jikook with that little girl together. And then harmonizing in the confetti and staring into each others eyes... sigh...

2018

We can't mention 2018 and not mention MMA 2018.... because damn, what was going on with them this award show?? Seriously could not keep eyes or hands off each other

The AAA 2018 awards (i have a whole post about this already) and I'm pretty sure the clip of Jimin sitting and then bouncing in JKs lap came from this award show too

Caught on camera snuggled up unexpectedly at MAMA. Jimin tried to put some distance between them after that and JK refused, scooted right back up against his side.

Well, where should I start...

When SB came out my love for FNAF came back just like for many of us, and people obviously started throwing their theories, their fanarts and especially their fanfics about FNAF again, like they used to do before.

I have never read FNAF fanfics, since many people usually say that these are not well written, or simply not well done.

When I started using Tumblr, everything was full of FNAF, obviously, and among those posts I found your fanfic, LAT, chapter 27 if I'm not mistaken, at first I let it go because of the aforementioned, but over time Tumblr kept recommending me to read LAT and I said "You know what? I'll give it a look" and so I started reading it from the first chapter I caught up in three days, 27 chapters in three days... wow.

I really like how you write the character of Michael, his evolution and how as the story progresses he learns that he is not alone, that he has people by his side who love him and care about him, he still has things to learn, but he has people by his side who will stay with him along the way.

I also love how you try to integrate characters from the FF in the story, like Stanly and Millie, I hope to know more about Millie and Delilah in the future.(THE GIRLS FROM THE TEAM)

I love how you seek to give each character their moment to shine without leaving them aside or overshadowing them with the main character, not everyone manages to do something like that.

And finally, I love the father-and-son relationship between Mike and Henry, I love this type of relationship, and when the fandom brought out this hc between them I was like "I need content like this", and LAT is exactly what was I looking for, I love the relationship between the two of them and how it evolves with each chapter, their relationship is so real to me, they have funny moments with each other, they care about each other, they also have their fights with each other but, which father and son don't have their differences? Both have suffered a lot and they know it, and every time there is a moment between them I can't help but think of that phrase that a critic once said "two souls broken by war that hug each other tightly in the dark to heal their wounds", and that melts my heart, without a doubt, the main reason why I keep reading LAT, I love the relationship between those two, I hope to see more content like this in the fandom.
